The Bad Batch: Most to Least Awkward First Kiss

...because I have a problem answering simple questions and also I miss ranking these boys on silly scales...

1. Tech: He would not have initiated his first kiss. He was still reeling from the realization he actually liked this person, his focus solely on confessing to them and nothing more. When their response is pressing their lips to his? He's stunned. His limbs flail about and he makes a weird noise like he's in pain. His crush pulls away, confused, and he runs off, embarrassed. 2. Echo: He would've gone in for the kiss himself, but also would've been sweating profusely. Little did his crush know that he'd been spending the past hour psyching himself up for it. It's only a peck that he gives, simple and harmless, and it's definitely not as bad as he thought. He doesn't know what to say afterward, the only thing he can think of is an awkward thank you. 3. Crosshair: Feels more confident than the others, but it's not entirely warranted. He doesn't know what he's doing and he only realizes this once he's millimeters away from their face. It's a sloppy kiss, more wet than he expected, and with teeth clacking clumsily, but it's not the worst he could've done. He saves it at the end by booping their nose and giving them a cute nickname. He definitely plans to practice more for his next kiss.

4. Hunter: Also wouldn't have initiated his first kiss, but doesn't flail about like a fish. He's very quick to adapt. He only tenses in surprise for a second before softening up and leaning into the kiss. He lets his crush lead the way, mimicking their movements and creating an unexpectedly pleasant moment. He does stand slack-jawed for a bit afterward, his senses are tingling like crazy and brain will not function and form proper words.

5. Wrecker: Even though he has no experience with his first kiss, this guy can turn any potentially-awkward moment into something fun and special. As soon as the time feels right, he goes for it, and with the biggest grin on his face no less. He holds his person tenderly and tries out a few different kinds of kisses - soft, hard, fast, slow - until he finds one they both like so he knows what to do next time.

SEBASTIAN - I really think he's the one who would be the most susceptible to this kind of thing, he's the youngest after all: he hasn't had many romantic relationships in his life and I think that's what makes him a little bit more worried than the others: he doesn't know exactly what to do or what's right. I don't know how to explain it, but he just hasn't had many "first times" in relationships (like first time holding hands, first time kissing, first time making love… something like that, I would say…) and he would think that since you are much more experienced than him and know a little more, he would think that you might find it better somewhere else? JUSTIN - i put justin between darren and oli because i think jp would be the kind of person who would just look at the person , who tried to flirt with you, coldly and think "is she trying to make me feel guilty here or…?". not really jealous to be honest, although sometimes he would question himself and say "i don't have that…" but he would reassure himself very easily. (plus he has a killer smile)

OLI - i think oli would be almost at the end because we know him and we know that he has confidence in himself. he loves himself and he knows his values and also yours. he knows that you won't let him down and that you won't go away like that. that's why i put him almost at the end. i hesitated to put him before or after regie, but i think this place is pretty good :)

REGIE - i put regie last because to me he would be more like the type to make the person across from him, insecure 😂 (like flexing his muscles or something), but let's be honest for a second: he's not really going to be jealous or insecure on a regular basis.. but when he is, he's more like "am i good enough?" and a tiny bit clingy (he'd be in kane's or darren's shoes). but for this mtl, i think macalino would be the because he has a lot of confidence in himself and loves himself (as he should) so.. he wouldn't really be the type to be jealous or something (i hope it's understandable)

Itachi - A proposal makes this boy's mind run at a hundred miles an hour and he gets stuck in those thoughts. He's deathly afraid of his clan rejecting the proposal and trying to force they two of your apart. He's afraid about his clan wanting him to have full blooded Uchiha children and making him conceive with another clan member even if they allow you to mate. And what if Sasuke never gets over his hate for you? What if people target you for being the reason he's retires? What if marrying him makes you a target to his enemies? He gets absolutely lost and has a bit of a panic. You have to coax him out and reassure him that you can solve any problems later, that all he has to do is answer with what he wants. Then, if you can hear him through the tears, you'll get your 'yes'.

Shino - I do think Shino freezes up when you propose to him, yes. For him, it's like the words get stuck in his throat. His eyes burn and he feels like he's choking on the word 'yes'. He tries to force the word out, and has a little panic about being unable to speak suddenly. Which probably makes you panic too, thinking you're being rejected XD. He gives his response with a nod instead, and then latches onto you for a good few minutes and refuses to let go, even to put the ring on. He just... needs a moment to compartmentalise.

Sasuke - Whether Sasuke freezes or not depends on how you propose to him. You need to get your speech out before the ring. Tell him how much you love him as though you just felt like telling him, then pull out a ring or pop the question. His brain definitely falters but a reassuring smile is enough to get him to hold out his hand for you to put the ring on. It takes him a while to actually say the word 'yes', but he makes his acceptance known. If you pull out the ring and then start talking about how much you love him, he fully shuts down XD It's too much for his poor brain.

Neji - Neji feels so much as he watches you propose to him. He's nervous and elated in equal measure. But he wants this. He wants this so much. He absolutely cries, but won't admit to it later. He listens to your speech with rapt attention and says yes as soon as he's prompted to respond. No hesitation or freezing on his part.

Haku - He doesn't freeze at all. He's smiling the whole time, trying to memorise as much of the scene as he can. He feels giddy, and for a moment he wonders if he deserves this, but he ignores that thought and makes sure to say yes... After jumping straight into your arms of course.

Gras — He's excellent at it, and way too proud of himself for that. It's absolutely due to a lot of practice, but Gras can deepthroat just about anything that will physically fit in his throat.

No one here has had a very good childhood. Keikou is a disaster of rampant poverty, unsafe conditions, and parents who no doubt have to spend every waking moment working just to keep their kids fed and clothed. Even the most well-intentioned families on the list would end up at least a little neglectful just because they don't have the time or means to properly care for their children.

Also, disclaimer that a lot of them don't have explicitly mentioned family situations, so a good chunk of this is reading into their behavior/lifestyle for implications of how their home life might be.

"Best" Relationship

Tamiya — All around, Tamiya has by far the best relationship with his family of all of them. He has two parents who have his best interests in mind, a younger sister who he's close to, and a relatively stable situation overall. The inherent sacrifices and problems of their environment are still present, but at least his family is trying.

Kaneda — He mentions having an older mother who he "loves down to her wrinkly little fingers". My guess is that she's his only parent, and has both given her best effort to raise him and had to work herself half to death to do it. He also has an overall good relationship, but it's nowhere near as stable as Tamiya's family situation.

Dafu — In the same chapter of Bokura, he expresses fondness for his family as well. The lack of specific mentions (and his general loneliness levels) leads me to think that his home life is somewhat neglectful, but likely not on purpose. He probably has a "normal" household that doesn't have the time to pay much attention to him.

Kanon — We know next to nothing about her backstory. I get the feeling that she's better off than the boys, but how off her behavior is seems to hint at a highly sheltered childhood. I think her relationship with her family is overall decent, but her parents are the type of paranoid that means they've isolated her more than is healthy.

Yakobu — He also gives me "childhood neglect" vibes. My headcanon is that he's from a large family that's struggling to get by, and the sheer amount of kids to manage means that Yakobu had to stand out to get any attention. His relationship with his family isn't bad, exactly, but he definitely doesn't have a stable or reassuring home life.

Dentaku — Considering his single-minded focus on mathematics and his apparent lack of social skills or ability to form emotional connections, I see yet another neglect case here. It's likely that he's been encouraged to stick to only his academic skills (at the cost of a normal childhood) as that gives him some chance of a better future.

Raizou — All we see of his family is his dad, who's... well-intentioned, probably, but far from supportive or kind. I think he's a single father who's trying his best, but is also strict, harsh, and has very firm ideas of how his son is supposed to behave. He's also clearly one for physical discipline, which means Raizou is at least used to being hit.

Zera — And here, things take a massive turn for the worse! Zera absolutely despises his family, and the level of emotional neglect and abuse he's experienced is a lot of why he's Like That. He has divorced parents, abandonment issues from his father, and routine mistreatment from his mother. Zera knows he's not wanted.

Nico — We know he has the worst financial state of the kids, and his mother literally says "giving birth to you was the biggest mistake of my life" when he was in the hospital post-eye incident. And judging from his utter lack of self-esteem, it's not hard to guess he's grown up in an environment where his existence was treated like a burden.

Jaibo — Uhhhh... yeah. We know his dad is a doctor (and that Jaibo steals drugs and money from him), and Jaibo's everything hints at extreme sexual abuse. I don't think it's a stretch to assume he's had the most horrific childhood of the kids, and I can't imagine he has anything resembling a positive relationship with his father.

Wooyoung/San: Wooyoung would be cooking for you all the time. Whatever and whenever you want. Always giving you cuddles and making sure to touch you 24/7. Both of them would probably constantly tease you with cheesy pick up lines. San would be attached to you at all times, always telling you how amazing and beautiful and wonderful you are. They would bring you little gifts to remind you how loved you are.

Hongjoong/Jongho: Love songs. A lot of love songs. Hongjoong would write the most beautiful lyrics for you even if he spends a lot of time away from you in the studio. He would make sure that every day when you listen to music you are reminded that he loves you. Jongho would do something similar. He would send you voice messages throughout the day singing you little love songs. One of his favourite romantic gestures is singing you to sleep.

Yeosang/Mingi: listen, these boys are romantic as well. They are just a bit shy and don’t like to show it. They don’t like spending money as much so they will usually just plan a little movie night at home on the couch. Their way of showing you how much they love you spending time with you, no matter what you are doing. Yeosang is definitely the type to blush every time something romantic happens. And Mingi just throws himself at you as soon as it’s getting comfortable.

Hoshi - this is solely based on his close affinity with Lee Soo Hyuk, I am not even going to pretend it isn't.

Jun - given the fact that he has personal experience with acting, I see him as someone who would definitely not mind going for an actor as they would share an interest and he would have an understanding for everything that comes with the profession

Mingyu - in his case, I strongly believe that he would go for someone who is also a celebrity, whether it is an idol or an actor. Overall he seems like the type who wouldn't get actually severely jealous about his significant other being around a ton of people all the time and making out with some of them on the screen.

Jeonghan - something tells me this man would be so smug about dating an actor, like wholeheartedly enjoying seeing him on the screen, people obsessing over him, but at the same time he would be ardently jealous and not even trying to hide it whenever a romantic scene would emerge on the screen.

Dokyeom - he also has some experience with the acting industry, though not through a movie or television screen but through a musical, so I believe he wouldn't be afraid to test the waters there even when it comes to dating. Just like Mingyu, I think that DK would go for a celebrity, in his case someone who works somewhere in the art field so they would be able to lead conversations about art and be equally enthusiastic about it.

Seungkwan - another member I see with a celebrity. If anyone, he would definitely go for the actor who is known for the bubbly characters and light-hearted dramas, not Lee Soo Hyuk type of actor (just like he would go for an idol, who has an upbeat and colorful concept).

The8 - he would definitely be supportive, coming to the filming set to cheer on his significant other (like he does for Junhui) and genuinely appreciating the artistry of the projects, but frankly, I don't see him having an actor as the first choice, he would be leaning more towards a dancer or singer if he went for an artist.

Dino - frankly, I don't know where to put him, because he gives me the vibes that he would be absolutely whipped for an actor boyfriend, who would be known for the so-called cool and serious dramas, but at the same time also vibes that it wouldn't last too long and be more of a quick burn sort of hook-up than long-lasting relationship.

Seungcheol - I am putting him all the way down here because I feel like this man would have serious jealousy issues if he was dating an actor, who is pretending to be in love with a different person in every single project he does. An idol, who is significantly more bound to stay away from romantic interactions with others, would suit him better.

Joshua - something is telling me that he would have the same issue as Seungcheol.

Wonwoo - he would definitely go for a person, who doesn't mind being around a ton of people on a daily basis (and being friendly with them) or even appearing on the big screen, but not the actor level of that. I think he would rather suffer in that relationship, even though he would really adore that person in private. He would certainly prefer someone more low-key.

Vernon - he is one of the idols I genuinely see going for someone normal, not a celebrity, let alone a popular actor.

Woozi - can't even imagine it, to be honest. I don't think this man ever had an interest in finding love in this field.

RYAN - PLEASE. he's the more discreet. we couldn't know if he was dating someone or not. this man doesn't ever talk about it and even if he was asked, he would just say yeah, yes, nah, no.. or short answers like that. he wouldn't even describe the answer and add details about it. if he was asked if he was dating someone, he would just say "yeah" and then move on. he'd talk about you and all, do an ig picture or two with you here and there, but that's all.. and still, i don't even know if he would do tiktok or stories with you 😭 ryan is just not the type to scream that he's dating you, sorry not sorry if you wanted to have a public relationship with him. he's just more discreet when it comes to these kind of things because he likes to have intimacy with the other person and love the way he's the only one who can see your cute face ;))

OLIVER - in my opinion, oliver would be the second more discreet to show he's dating you. yes, he'll post some tiktok about you, but he doesn't really make any obvious moves or ways to know if he's taken or single. oli would show you off times to times, but not enough to make us think his gf is actually… his gf? like he could post a dance tiktok with you and we'd think "what a cute friendship." for this mtl, i was like… do i put him in the most or least side? because we all know how he would show you off on his social media, flirt with you online if you were comfortable and okay about it. but then again, i thought he could be in the least side because unless his s/o says they're okay to be in the spotlight, he won't really show you off, for sure. he would wait to ask for your 'confirmation' as long as you want just so he doesn't make you uncomfortable and all weird.. JUSTIN - justin wouldn't totally show you off. i mean, he would do it a little bit here and there, but not really enough to make us 100% sure you're his girlfriend (people think you're his best friend). he would talk about you in his stories or twitch stream and do some tiktok dances and that's all? he wouldn't make too many obvious moves when it comes to his relationship with others. if you want to know if he's single or not, then you'd have to search on the internet and still... would you find it? justin is a much more secretive guy (compared to seb's) when it comes to relationship and he love keeping these kind of things private

KANE - tbh, kane is just like justin, but i think he would be a little bit more obvious then him? for example, kane would talk about you in his tiktok and create funny scenario about you while giving hidden hints that he's not single anymore.. ratan is kind of in the middle. he's like "i'll show you off, but not enough that fans can know who you are unless they do researches and stalk your account or mine, but they would know you exist". ratan wouldn't be the type to randomly post a picture of his s/o. he likes to keep some things private and his relationship is one of them. i'm not saying he's shy or embarrassed to be with you, he's just this type of guy: he doesn't want to share his relationship with you with the world and even if you really make him happy, he love to keep the intimacy between you and him off social media

REGIE - this man doesn't give a f*ck about this kind of thing. being hidden from a relationship? naaah, it's not his vibe. he's a nonchalant kind of guy 😎 he's pretty open and happy to show you off, tbh. regie would post a lot of tiktok about you, make ig pics, tell his relationship statue on his social media… that's it, that's all! he really doesn't mind talking about you and showing you off on the internet.
