@earthfire-75​ and I had a conversation about how Mick Mars is essentially a dad having to watch over Tommy, Vince, and Nikki.  She encouraged me to draw that.  So here’s an irritated Mick having to watch over the kids.  I’d like to imagine Tommy wanting to use his drum mallets on everything.  Vince would be playing with his toy microphone (it looks bad, I was trying to add buttons and streamers, but just ugh it’s bad), and Nikki wanting to show Mick his drawings.

Also I know technically infants aren’t supposed to have the backpacks with the leashes, either way hope you like it @earthfire-75​

Before Dave Grohl, Eddie Munson was known as the nicest guy in rock n roll. He approached his career the same way as Alice Cooper did, he was a fairly normal dude who just happens to be a metal god although unlike Alice, Eddie didn't wear a costume - he just looked like that always.

Do you know what Eddie thought was fuckin metal? Having a wife he loved more than anything, a supportive group of friends and things he enjoyed doing that weren't snorting lines off groupies tits like the industry expected him to.

He'd ran into Motley Crue a few times. Corroded Coffin were often seated near them at award shows and various events. The first time they crossed paths was at Corroded Coffin's first ever awards show, their debut album had been nominated. Tommy Lee had sauntered past you and Eddie, looking your fiancé up and down like he was dirt and then proceeding to hit on you with a sleazy comment. That night you both agreed 'Man, Tommy Lee fuckin sucks.'

By the mid-nighties, you, Eddie and rest of Corroded Coffin and their significant others avoided crossing paths with Motley Crue. Finding their behaviour tedious and their antics pretty gross. When you'd seen on a magazine that Tommy Lee had now swept Pamela Anderson off her feet, Eddie noticed your concern. You'd both met her before and thought she was sweet. You knew Eddie had a crush on her from Baywatch and through a mutual friend you'd managed to get her to sign a poster for Eddie. He was mortified but definitely didn't mind you wearing the swimsuit to make up for teasing him.

When the sex tape came out you were both horrified for her. Disgusted by the way she was treated and scared that the same could easily happen to you and Eddie. Whilst minding his business on a day out with your young daughter, Eddie was approached by a paparazzi asking if he'd watch Pamela and Tommy's tape. Eddie's reply was asking the photographer if he was ashamed of himself, swiftly followed by a punch in the jaw. Later that day as you bailed him out, Eddie apologised profusely for losing his cool but he was repulsed at how people were treating a woman for just being with her husband, repulsed at the idea that maybe they could speak about you like that and mostly, repulsed they'd mention it in front of your little girl. You didn't care he'd done it, you'd never been prouder.

Now once Tommy Lee had assaulted Pamela that was it, he was dead to Eddie. You'd also been expecting your second baby together when it happened. The thought that a man could even think about physically harming his wife (pregnant or not), never mind actually doing it and risking his baby's life, knocked Eddie sick. The next concert Corroded Coffin had, Eddie came on stage in a tee reading 'TOMMY LEE FUCKIN SUCKS.' A bouquet of flowers was sent to Pamela along with a gift for her new baby.

By the time Corroded Coffin's third studio album came out in 1999, Eddie had made no secret about his views on toxic behaviour in the rock scene, never afraid to use Tommy as reference. The new album's cover art was a black and white photograph of you, dressed like a pin up vampire stood over an open coffin. Now, no one ever confirmed anything but fans couldn't help but notice how the body in the coffin remarkably resembled one Mr Tommy Lee.

So, Eddie and Steve are dating, so obviously their friend groups meet. The spicy six meet Corroded Coffin and the Hellfire Club. Let's just say, Gareth and Steve hit it off- they hit it off very well. They talked about hair and music, Gareth being a former ABBA fan and everything. And it's all going well, and Eddie's just glad everyone's getting along.

Gareth also gets a long with Will once he joins Hellfire. The older boy is only one year above him, so he easily makes conversations with Will. And they too talk about music. They both love Queen and Motley Crue. And they also both have an appreciation for art. Will likes making art and Gareth likes observing it. They work well together, they make each other happy

I 100000% disagree. People seem to forget that the actual driving force behind fandom and bands becoming worldwide phenomena are, and HAVE ALWAYS BEEN, girls and women. Do you really think The Beatles would have gotten as big as they did relying solely on the male fans? No. Beatlemania was literally the result of fangirls going absolutely apeshit for them. Same goes with The Jackson 5, The Rolling Stones, Bowie, Led Zeppelin, Motley Crue, Kiss etc. They would have been nothing had it not been for the fangirls and the groupies. Female fans do so much more than holding signs, they're literally the ones responsible for making the rock band economy move. Do you think it's the "serious male fans" making merch, setting up group trips to attend shows, running fan accounts, making art, and just generally building a sense of community within a fandom etc? No, it's the girlies.

This whole "they wanted to have a serious male audience, now they're stuck with sTuPid FangiRLs wiTh siGnS. Fangirls are too stupid to be proper fans" narrative is so braindead. If you're a woman and you're saying that type of stuff you're also a pick-me and have some internalized misogyny issues to work on. I can guarantee you, I know far more, and am more passionate about rock history, general music history and music theory than any pretentious, stinky little man in a black band tee asking me to "name three songs" at a show.

To any other women in this blog who share a similar sentiment to the one expressed by this person, I highly recommend reading "It’s a man’s man’s man’s world’: Music Groupies and the othering of women in the world of Rock", It's a highly informative research paper about how the participation of women in rock has been underrepresented and caricatured throughout the decades. Some of you could really use some education.

Except I have what many would consider questionable taste at best and believe that people, even metalheads, can like more than one music genre. No idea if this is a modern au or an everybody lives au or what because it’s a mess but I digress. 18 and Life - Skid Row Duh.  Loves Sebastian Bach-- maybe a little bit too much. 1985 - Bowling for Soup Yeah, the nostalgia train hit modern Munson hard with this one.  Not his style of music but loves the references. Alone - Heart Secretly.  Belts it out in the car. And So It Goes - Billy Joel Probably not a Joel fan, but he, like, gets it. As It Was - Harry Styles Though I think it’s possible that he would like some Styles songs, he’d think that this one is commercial music. Babooshka - Kate Bush Yes.  A resounding yes.  An unashamed, unabashed yes. Hit Me With Your Best Shot - Pat Benatar Definitely just me projecting, but I think Eddie loves powerful women voices.  Whether you read him as being attracted to women or not I think he just *clenches fist* loves women. Home Sweet Home - Motley Crue Yeah, dude loves Crue.  Wants to be Mick Mars, especially after injuries sustained in the Upside Down. Hopelessly Devoted to You - Olivia Newton John Go-to drunk karaoke song.  Will never hear him admit to being a Grease fan outside of this context, but is definitely a comfort movie of his (he is, obviously, more of a Rizzo fan than a Sandy fan, but he’s a drama queen before all else and nothing says drama more than “Hopelessly.”). I Hate Myself for Loving You - Joan Jett and the Blackhearts Please picture with me, if you will, a Corroded Coffin gig.  Eddie has just gotten into a fight with his significant other (a small one, probably a misunderstanding, but Eddie is dramatic and loves and opportunity to “suffer for his art”).  He knows they’ll be there.  They never miss a show.  So here comes Eddie, all eyeliner, leather, and angst, and they open with this.  Of course, immediately after the gig it’s “I’m sorry baby,” and “You were amazing up there,” and all is forgiven. I Know the End - Phoebe Bridgers I think every single Stranger Things character would find the parallels between their lives and this song to be too uncanny not to like this song. I’m in Love with My Car - Queen Uh, yeah.  Especially mechanic Eddie.  He’d tie his hair back and have this song blasting, singing along while he looks under the hood. Immigrant Song - Led Zeppelin This song is pure feral energy, just like Eds. I Punched Keanu Reeves - Hello Peril While hilarious (iykyk), no.  He has an emotional attachment to Bill and Ted. Johnny B. Goode - Chuck Berry Yes.  Is actively upset that Back to the Future tried to erase Chuck Berry’s genius by implying a white kid gave him the idea for this song. Killer Queen - Queen Favorite Queen song by far. Let’s Hear It for the Boy - Deniece Williams Does not like a single song from it, but actually really enjoyed Footloose.  An oppressive small town, a guy who likes heavier music… so sue him, he identifies. Light My Love - Greta Van Fleet I love him, but Eddie would totally be a “Greta Van Fleet is a Led Zeppelin rip off” truther; man would listen to a single song and go off about authenticity and corporate bullshit before literally never giving them another chance again. Neighbors - J. Cole I genuinely think Eddie would be very stereotypically “I hate rap” for most of his teens and early twenties, but I think eventually he’d grow to appreciate any type of fight through music, especially protest songs, which this is. Norwegian Wood - The Beatles This is the perfect campfire song, and I think if you could convince Eddie to go acoustic for a weekend and go camping, this would be the first song he’d learn. Paranoid - Black Sabbath Eddie canonically likes Sabbath, so I would hope he likes one of their best singles.  Is definitely on every “Intro to Metal” mixtape he’s ever made for his friends. Running Up That Hill (A Deal with God) - Kate Bush Pretty indifferent to it pre-Max.  Now has a mixtape of everyone’s favorite songs.  He carries it everywhere.  Also learned it on guitar and plays it at the hospital when and if his name is cleared and he’s allowed in. Saturday Night’s Alright (For Fighting) - Elton John “Token good Elton song,” according to him. Scarborough Fair/Canticle - Simon and Garfunkel Definitely something he would base a campaign off of. Soldier, Poet, King - The Oh Hellos As with every other DnD nerd, regardless of music preference, he fixates on it.  Is the source of at least half of his LoTR/Ren Faire/DnD fantasies (the softer, less badass ones he doesn’t talk about).  Refuses to believe it’s Jesus music. Teenage Dirtbag - Wheatus Are you kidding?  This song is basically an autobiographical account of his life if/when he had a crush on anyone in a different friend group.

[Album of the day] Wizard Tattoo - Fables of the Damned

[Thoughts] I listen to a lot of stoner rock (arguably too much), and this is my favorite release of the year. It's catchy as hell and you'd never know it was a solo work; Bram the Bard is the mastermind behind Wizard Tattoo, a talented multinstrumentalist who can craft stoner doom hits (e.g. "The Vengeful Thulsa Dan", "God Damn This Wizard Tattoo") as well as folky, instrospective tracks (e.g. "Any Which Way But Tuned", "Abendrote"). I simply think this is a genius work and if you're here, give it a listen.

I'd be remiss to not mention Wizard Tattoo's visual artwork; the album art (also done solely by Bram the Bard), is clearly referential to the pulp horror comics of the mid-20th century. These comics are stupid cool, but don't take my word for it: check out this article on Tor.com by Silvia Moreno-Garcia, author of popular weird lit novel Mexican Gothic.* And if you want to read some Mexican horror comics of yesteryear, check out these two free databases: Revistería Ponchito and El Monje Loco on Issuu.

Bram the Bard further employs a comic-book art style in the music video for my favorite song on the album.** If you dig any of this, feel free to hit me up; I'd love to chat about the album and anything else I've mentioned.

Wizard Tattoo, the genre bending Indianapolis-based metal band by multi-instrumentalist Bram the Bard, returns with the debut full-length concept album Fables of the Damned. Picking up where the self-titled EP left off, Fables… continues the story of a man who gets a tattoo of a wizard and slowly loses his mind–while introducing new characters like the loser of the infamous battle from the previously released “Wizard Knife Fight.” and more. Savage Destiny Sith Rhapsody (commission) Savage Stuart x Destiny Sith (after Maxine Delcambre) x Star Wars: Visions (Tatooine Rhapsody) - This whole sketch is so many mash-ups it's pretty much it's own thing now, lol. This is the third commission using the Sith Droid design inspired by Maxine Delcambre's fan art mash-up of the Destiny video game character and the Siths aesthetic from Star Wars. Inspired by the Tatooine Rhapsody from SW:Visions on Disney+, in which a young Hutt and a couple friends put on a concert for Jabba, I went full '90s Hair Metal album cover here. I tried going for some Iron Maiden, Metallica, Poison, Motley Crue, or maybe I was just remembering that Steel Panther concert the wife and I went to pre-pandemic. In the end I finished with a card I had a lot of fun with. How could I not with all the neon? 🤘😁🍻 I never get enough of sketching @garbagechutedroids characters and cards.
