I saw pictures of baby mountain gorillas and was astonished by how fluffy they are.
Worked with the full grey-scale traditional sketch method. I scan and colour it on Clip Studio Paint to finish it off.
Wanted to practice with lighting here. I think the coloured version could still get more work with adjusting the lighting... but so far it’s alright!

Mountain gorilla (Gorilla beringei beringei)
While most gorillas are found in lowland forests, this subspecies is found in the forested mountain regions of the Albertine Rift in central Africa. They have longer fur than other gorillas, allowing them to live in higher, colder altitudes. They eat mostly vegetation, and like other gorillas, they construct leafy nests in which to sleep. They are also very intelligent, and young individuals have been observed dismantling poachers’ traps and snares!

Mountain Gorilla in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Uganda
Leila Boujnane
Population: 1,063
Mass: males can weigh 430 pounds
Daily sleep: about 12 hours
Scientific name: Gorilla beringei beringei
As their name implies, mountain gorillas live in forests high in the mountains, at elevations of 8,000 to 13,000 feet. They have thicker fur, and more of it, compared to other great apes. The fur helps them to survive in a habitat where temperatures often drop below freezing.
They can eat all day long. Mountain gorillas spend about a quarter of their day eating, mainly plants. Around 85% of their diet is made up of leaves, shoots and stems, but gorillas can also eat larvae, snails, ants, and even roots, barks and rotting wood (a good source of sodium/salt).
The only significant natural predator of the mountain gorilla is the leopard. The main threat that mountain gorillas face is from humans. Humans hunt gorillas for meat, just as a natural predator would.
Humans are pushing mountain gorillas out of the wild and into extinction. The biggest threats to this once critically endangered great ape's survival come from political instability, human encroachment, and forest degradation.

Bingo the wisecracking Springie almost always looks on with a smug look on his face or even bursts into fits of hysterical laughter whenever he sees his Ape friend Babo brutally beats up his Dragon enemies seeing they both hate Dragons so much. On many occasions he assists his Gorilla friend when a fight proves too much involving beating up MediEvil Dragons almost twice The Mountain Gorillas own actual size. He does this by using his powerfully long tail as a makeshift tripwire or even use the same ridiculously long tail as a makeshift strangling cord thus giving Babo the fighting advantage. Bingo also looks on smugly or bursts out laughing when he sees the simple-minded but massively strong Mountain Gorilla beat up predators such as Wolves, Ferrets, Raccoons, Coyotes and Weasels involving protecting every farm on each island all over the planet Pleasure Paradise. And much like his intense dislike of Dragons Bingo also assists his powerfully strong Ape friend whenever he is outnumbered in a fight with a whole gang of Wolf, Ferret, Weasel, Raccoon and Coyote Bandits with the same rope tricks with his incredibly long tail. It is clear that both Bingo and Babo have a mutual hatred of Raccoons, Ferrets, Weasels, Wolves and Coyotes because they are all cunning thieves who frequently terrorise the barnyard. Together with Bingo's brains and Babo's brawn along with Berny the Beagle Furrie and Gordo the Purple Ape (formerly a denizen of Rainmoon now a permanent citizen of Pleasure Paradise) farm animals believe they have heroic protectors🐴🐮🐷🐔🐸🐶🐵🐗🐎🐄🐖🦍🐕🦆🦃🦢
