Prehistoric 'Portable' Rock Art Decorated Stone, Great North Museum, Hancock, Newcastle upon Tyne
Some evidence suggests that stones like this were intended to be positioned or specifically moved.

yippee it’s a Mettaton!!
I made his body like a month ago and couldn’t be bothered to figure out the limbs until today lol.
It took me wayyy too long to figure out how to make his limbs rotate but yippee I’m happy with it. Yeah one of his legs can bend to unsafe angles and one arm is 3x the size of the other (I blame the unnecessarily large microphone because I forgot how proportions work) but it works.
yayayayaya :3.
#undertale mettaton#mettaton ex#art#Undertale#paper doll#I hated making his hands so much#And making one of them moveable?? Actual torture it’s so small omg#But a fun challenge nonetheless#His hair has like 3 layers to it lol#Yippee#30 days until Deltarune

the reason the art college Im going to has individual bathrooms per suite is because they know that artists require spaces where they can strip and pose like they're stabbing someone while taking as many mirror selfies as they can before their arm goes numb
#how am i gonna survive figure drawing if i cant take my moveable 5 foot tall mirror with me#how can i draw without references??#theyre making us buy and lug around $500 worth of art equipment but WHAT could POSSIBLY be more useful than a bigass mirror for anatomy ref#shitpost#art school

@cryptotheism ^ early 1900s, so 700 years too late, but it is in fact the official marching yurt / ger of a Mongolian emperor
Compare to the Ottoman tents of the 1700s:
I remember reading a description of Ghengis Khan's yurt as "palatial" and that stuck with me. I've never even seen a normal yurt. My mind cannot even imagine a palatial yurt. I bet it fucked hard.

Cattail Harvest
The recycled paper bag-into-cordage thing is completed. It isn’t a particularly useful object but it was a successful experiment. Continue reading Cattail Harvest

HII i love your art so much. do you think you'd ever consider making an anatomy pdf? i love your other books so much and thats the one thing i struggle most with but your anatomy is so good
hello!! currently there aren't any plans for an anatomy pdf, but i can direct you to some resources that have helped me study anatomy over the years!
Sinix Design - has a playlist of quick, useful anatomy tips for different body parts like hands, knees, the skull, etc.
Posemaniacs - royalty free moveable 3D model poses, adjustable camera angles. great for studying poses at different angles!
Sketchfab - site with a wide variety of 3D models/objects/etc. many models are available for commercial usage but def check the license individually if you're planning on using it for anything.
Adorkastock - stock photos are great references in general! this one has a timer you can set to draw for each pose, useful for practicing gesture. is under creative commons, meaning you can use the poses commercially as long as it's credited.
Pose Search - you pick a body part, pose the 3D model on the left, and it automatically searches up image references of that pose for you. super useful for when you can't find ref pics of that very specific pose you want.
Comparing Heights - not exactly anatomy related, but it's a tool that lets you see the difference between two heights you put in ( a necessity for me when i create ocs lol)

Voices from the Stacks
Ul'nigid'

Ul'nigid'is a moveable book by artist Rhiannon Skye Tafoya, created in 2019 at the Women’s Studio Workshop in Rosendale, New York. This is edition six of 44, signed by the artist.

The book can take on multiple forms and shapes, with an accordion pamphlet and movable walls made of woven paper. When fully unfolded and standing up, the book resembles a basket. It features five poems in English with accents in Cherokee syllabary. The poems are those of remembrance, healing, love, home, and heritage. The cover shows an illustration of the artist’s grandmother, and the title is printed in both English and Cherokee.

The piece draws on traditional Cherokee weaving techniques used for river-cane basket making, but with the artists own contemporary weaving design. Instead of white oak and rivercane, she uses handmade paper. In her artist’s statement, Tafoya explains that the weaving design “represents the energy of my indigenous lineage as well as the urge to break out of boxes that a colonized society puts my identity, culture, and art into.”
The book was made in honor of the artists maternal grandmother, Martha Reed-Bark, who was a Cherokee medicine-woman and basket weaver. The title Ul'nigid’, which translates to “strong,” embodies her resilience and spirit.

From the publisher: “Ul’nigid’ is a demonstration of love and remembrance, wherein each technical process portrays strength and delicacy, allowing the artist to communicate a contemporary indigenous voice with deep influences from her traditional grandmother.”

Rhiannon Skye Tafoya is a printmaker, weaver, digital designer, and book artist affiliated with the Eastern Band Cherokee and Santa Clara Pueblo tribes. She earned her Master of Fine Arts in print media from Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland, Oregon, and her Bachelor of Fine Arts in printmaking and sculpture from the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico. In her work, Tafoya seeks to share and preserve personal and familial stories, cultural knowledge, and the Cherokee language, while still paving her own journey through contemporary art.
