Yu Yu Hakusho "Attention" Sticker Collection

The Yoshihiro Togashi Exhibition - Puzzle ended in Osaka last Sunday, September 3rd 2023, and now it is heading to Fukuoka, from November 18 to January 14, 2024.

New Fukuoka Venue goods (Yu Yu Hakusho, Level E and HxH) have been introduced on the Official Site, including this beautiful collection of fifteen Yu Yu Hakusho Stickers.

Price: 550 yen each (random) / 8,250 yen (BOX with 15 types)

They are called "Attention" Stickers, because each sticker comes with a scene from the manga filled with seriousness, humor, or emotions! Let's check each one of them:

1 - Yusuke Urameshi

"Attention to the Straight Right" (右ストレート注意)

It's a famous scene from the Black Chapter Arc (Yusuke VS Murota), where Yusuke thinks: "I'll throw a straight right jab at him" (chapter 120).

2 - Kazuma Kuwabara

"One-sided Love" (愛の一方通行)

Scenes of Kuwabara from the Dark Tournament (chapter 75): Kuwabara defeats Rishou right after seeing Yukina in the crowd; and Kuwabara having his wounds treated by her. Poor Kuwabara, is it really an unrequited love? :P

3 - Hiei

"Cooking" (料理中)

It's a cute illustration from the opening of Chapter 172 (SPECIAL DAY). In this chapter, Hiei gives Mukuro a birthday gift. So cute Hiei cooking his friends with his own fire. ^^

4 - Hiei

"Attention to Forgetfulness" (もの忘れ注意)

Hiei's famous scene and line from the fight with Bui: "I can't go back anymore, I forgot how to wrap it back up." (Chapter 98)

5 - Kurama

"Warning" (警告中)

That's a famous scene from the confrontation with Kaito (chapter 115). After taking the souls of Hiei, Kuwabara, and Botan, Kurama was really mad at his high school colleague, warning him: "I will kill you by any means necessary."

6 - Koenma

"Ready to Escape" (脱出準備完了)

Hahaha, it's Koenma and the famous "Escape Rocket" he wore during the Dark Tournament Finals.

7 - Genkai

"Liar Alert" (うそつき注意)

That's when Genkai lied to Yusuke XD

In order to pass Yusuke her Spirit Wave Orb, Genkai tells Yusuke his final test is to kill her. Yusuke thinks about it, but eventually says he can't do it. She tells him that was the first part of the test and that she would not give her power to someone who would kill her. Goofy Genkai is hilarious :P

Yusuke is so pissed at her that he says he's ready to do anything. Genkai then changes to a serious tone: "Don't forget what you just said".

8 - Puu

"Watch Your Head" (頭上注意)

Puu just being Puu, flying over and landing on Yusuke's head. Puusuke is too cute.

9 - Younger Toguro

"Danger! 100% out of 100%" (危険！100%中の100%)

A very famous scene from chapter 110, when Younger Toguro displays his "Full Power: 100% of 100%!!!".

10 - Yusuke & Koenma & Hiei

"The Moment of Choice" (選択の刻)

This is one is of my favorites scenes. It's from chapter 174 (Do or Die), the last mission of Yusuke and the guys. Regardless of which button Yusuke chooses to press, Genkai (Puu) stays by Yusuke's side. But, the cutest moment is that we can also spot Hiei and Koenma behind a wall, supporting Yusuke's decision. They would have died along with him if necessary.

11 - Shinobu Sensui

"Laughing Hysterically" (爆笑中)

A scene from Chapter 143 (The Ultimate Aura), when Sensui finally shows his main personality "Shinobu" and the Sacred Energy (seikouki). That hysterical laugh is scary.

12 - Kuwabara & Yusuke & Hiei & Kurama

"Feeling Nagomi" (和み中)

The Japanese word Nagomi (和み), reflects the state of being comforted and relaxed in a harmonious way. This scene from chapter 149 of the guys laughing in a very chilled out state is one of my favorites from the entire series. Yusuke was not only alive, but was reborn as a youkai, descendant of the mazoku!

13 - Keiko & Yusuke

"Proposing" (プロポーズ中)

A scene with the famous Yusuke's line "Let's get married" (chapter 157).

Yusuke promised Keiko to return from the Demon World in 3 years, then they would get married. According to Mr. Yukimura, Yusuke would say such a thing every time he had a quarrel with Keiko. I wonder if he was serious this time XD. Anyway, he ended up returning in a year and a half. But, I believe that by the end of the manga when Keiko was finishing high school, or a little later, they would marry eventually.

14 - Kurama & Karasu

"Counseling" (カウンセリング中)

One of the sexiest moments of the series is Karasu trying to give Kurama a hair treatment XD. "Are you treating your hair?" (chapter 89).

15 - Sakyo & Younger Toguro

"Alcohol is not good" (アルコールNG)

The scene where Sakyo proposes a drink to Toguro, but he refuses: "I don't drink alcohol, orange juice if you please." (chapter 93)

As Isaac was on his way to find Julia in school he passes Stiles and Scott as they were talking about what Malia does when she sneaks into his room, "Nothing wrong with being the little spoon. I enjoy Julia's cuddles. It's like having a baby kola on your back." He speaks up staring to walk with them.

"Huh?" Stiles looks at him feeling like he was going to have a stroke.

"Yeah but after certain things I'm always the big spoon." He adds smiling walking off then jogging towards Julia in the distance.

Scott stays silent looking at Stiles sensing everything he was going through, "Was he just saying that to piss me off because he knows I still can't stand him?" Stiles turns to Scott.

"I don't have an answer for that but I know he succeed at pissing you off. Which I don't understand."

"She's still my friend and I just don't care for Isaac." Stiles tells him as they walk to class.

Entering the classroom Stiles sees Julia in the back sitting next to Isaac. Hell, it was the almost the same for every class now that she no longer sat near him and Scott. Isaac ends up seeing him looking at them so he winks at him.

While Mr. Yukimura was teaching about how many great historic leaders have failed spectacularly before succeeding. He lays out the details of one such leader saying he failed at business, had a nervous breakdown, was defeated for both houses of congress and lost as a candidate for Vice President and then asks if anyone knows who he is describing. While many hands in the classroom go up, he calls on Malia who seems distracted with a highlighter in her mouth while furiously drawing red lines.

Scott's phone rings and is told to turn it off. Mr. Yukimura gives more clues saying, one of our greatest Presidents, Gettysburg Address, Malia still didn't have the answer while Kira was furiously waving her hand at her father.

Stiles' phone ends up beeping and Mr. Yukimura again admonishes everyone to turn their phones off. Malia was furiously looking in her text book when Mr. Yukimura opens the question up to the rest of the class, every hand goes up. Malia sinks down in her desk, embarrassed.

Another cellphone beeps and Mr. Yukimura shouts that he said phones off but Kira points out that it's his phone ringing this time. He picks it up and reads a text, "Scott call Lydia."

Later at the Animal Clinic, Lydia is just finishing putting bandages on Deaton's injured arm. Deaton theorizes that Derek's mind has been regressed along with his body. Lydia says he was scared out of his mind. They figure out that Derek would try to go home, to Hale House, because he wouldn't remember the fire because from his perspective it wouldn't have happened yet.

After checking the house they don't see him so Julia mentions the sheriff station so they head there. As they show up the Sheriff tells Parrish and Haigh that he will handle this case.

He motions for the three to follow him into his office, "I want you three be honest with me. Absolutely and completely honest. Have you been time traveling?" Noah asks them and Julia laughs, "Because if time traveling is real, you know what? I'm done. I'm out. You're going to be driving me to Eichen house."

"I wish but we found him like that." She tells him.

"Where, swimming in the fountain of youth?"

"No. We found him buried in a tomb of wolfsbane in an Aztec temple in Mexico underneath a church in the middle of a town that was destroyed by an earthquake." Stiles explains.

"You told me you were camping!"

"Yeah, we were... It was in Mexico." Stiles adds while Julia laughs.

"Hey, you lied to me too missy." Noah gives her a look so she stops.

Just because her and Stiles were having their moments, it didn't mean Julia spent less time around Noah. He was basically her dad at this point like Melissa was her mom.

Scott explains that Derek has been aged backwards and can't remember anything. So Noah agrees to let the three talk to him. Derek was wary of Scott and Stiles so Julia explains that there was an accident and Derek lost some memory but that they can help him get it back.

Scott ends up saying there was a fire then hesitates and then lies saying the Hale family is fine but had to move out of Beacon Hills. He promises to take Derek to them as soon as he gets his memory back. Derek agrees but Julia and Scott don't like lying to him. He explains to Stiles that things always go better when they tell the truth. Scott tells Stiles to take Derek to the McCall house and keep him there.

"Yeah, I hate that guy." Stiles meant Peter.

"And Derek, Isaac, the twins, Jackson, and Matt." Julia starts a list to be funny.

"Matt was a killer, the twins proved themselves, Derek is iffy, and Isaac is annoying. And you also hate Jackson." He looks at her.

As they walk into Scott's house they see Agent McCall there with take-out Chinese food. Stiles tries to rush Derek upstairs but Derek is hungry, and Scott's dad is offering food so they all end up at the table.

He asks for Derek's name and Stiles introduces Derek as his cousin Miguel making Julia laugh confusing Derek and Scott's dad. He starts to speak in Spanish making Stiles oh my god and them shock by Derek speaking Spanish too.

"Fantastic, egg roll." Stiles laughs.

While they all eat, Mr. McCall asks for Derek's last name and Stiles says Juarez Cinqua Tiago. Julia groans rolling her eyes as Mr. McCall asks how to spell that so Julia and Derek look at him.

Derek's eyes take notice that Mr. McCall is an FBI agent before asking him about the Hales. He tells him about the Hale fire making Derek glare at Stiles so Julia excuse the three of them.

"How about we go upstairs?" Julia suggests shoving both up the stairs. At Scott's door Derek smashes Stiles head into the door, "Okay, let's not do that. Please." Julia forces Derek to let go of Stiles.

Derek says he wants to talk to Scott so Stiles leaves to call Scoot and Julia follows after telling Derek to wait there and don't move.

Stiles tells Scott on the phone that Derek was fine in his room and that Kate isn't coming only to change it to he's right. Both Julia and Stiles watch her jump from the roof and look they each other before running out to get Lydia.

As they get to the school Lydia looks at Stiles holding his bat, "You seriously need to find something better than a baseball bat."

"At least it's not the wooden one. That one actually works." Julia tells her as they run to meet Peter at the vault.

He tells them they took it while he was blinded explaining that this whole thing was heist to steal $117 million in bearer bonds from his family's safe.

"117 million..." Julia looks at Peter.

"Are you really thinking about not playing lacrosse this year?" Julia asks Isaac as they look at others practicing.

"Why should I?" He makes a face.

"Because you're good at it and I need someone to cheer on. You could be my lucky number 14." She tugs on his arm and as she said that Stiles and Scott walked up.

"Oh my god..." Stiles says loudly so they look at him, "Umm Scotts worried about not being Captain." He covers his ass up, "We have 117 million problems, but our status on the lacrosse team isn't one of them."

Julia points over at the goalie not letting any balls pass him. "Sure about that?" All three boys stare at him. "Maybe you three should practice a little bit." She smiles at them and they all run off so Julia leaves the field.

Back in the locker room Stiles confronts Liam about his performance on the field at practice, "Yeah, but not a single shot got passed you." Stiles says.

"Yeah, I was the goalie. You guys played this game before?" He looks at the three older boys. Liam explains that he transferred from Devenford Prep and Scott is listens to his heartbeat and realizes he is lying.

"No, you got kicked out, didn't you." Scott corrects him.

"I came here to play lacrosse. The team could use a few good players right?" Liam says.

"No, we don't need any more good players."

"Actually we could use a couple." Isaac looks at him and Scott agree with a head nod.

Stiles goes on asked how did he get that good then ranting on about the woods and a full moon making Isaac backhand him. "Ouch." He stares at him.

Liam says he learned the game from his stepfather who apparently made Team Captain when he was a sophomore just like Scott. "And yeah, I guess I'm just that good." He grabs his stuff looking at Stiles leaving.

"I like that kid." Isaac smile crossing his arms while Scott tells him he wasn't lying that time as he walks off as well.

Stiles turns to Isaac, "What is going on with you and Julia?"

"Huh?"

"Y'all are cuddling, other stuff, you could be her lucky number 14." He laughs while Isaac stares at him.

"I don't really think it's your business. I don't ask Scott about him and Kira or you with Malia." Isaac leaves him alone.

As Julia walks to math she sees Malia turning to leave, "No no no." She grabs her walking back into class making her sit in front of Stiles. She protests that she doesn't understand why they have to take math. Stiles explains it's so they can figure out the right amount to tip in restaurants.

"And less important things like medicine, economics, engineering." Julia give better examples to her and Lydia agrees.

"Tipping." Stiles smiles.

As Lydia and Malia were at the board Stiles phone goes off and when he read it he looks over at Julia. "What?" She asks so he holds out his phone for her to see it and it read TRIPLE HOMICIDE, DEVELOPING.

After class Stiles tells Scott about the news alerts but Scott said he already knows because Melissa called him earlier. Stiles was ready to leave school to go investigate but Scott reminds him that they had Econ in five minutes.

"All right. Did you forget the part about the family-murdering axe murderer?"

Scott points out that their parents want them to stay out of it while Kira suggests they let the adults handle it.

"So the two of you, you just want to say here. School. Go to class?" Stiles looks at the two, "Never heard anything so irresponsible in my life. Let's go Julia." Stiles grabs her arm dragging her with him.

"See you at tryouts." Scott shouts.

"I don't remember me expressing that I wanted to tag along with you." Julia speaks up as he still drags her.

"Are you serious? You wanna be boring like them?" He turns to her.

"No but don't just assume things." She laughs.

"Oh, like you and Isaac hooking up. You don't want me to assume that as well I'm guessing?"

Julia rolls her eyes, "Why are you being such an asshole? Are you that scared?"

"Scared of what?"

"Getting close, remembering everything? You keep doing everything you can to distance yourself from me. We can try to ignore it but it's impossible. It's not going to get better if we don't work on it together." She tears up, "I just want my best friend back." She leaves him in standing alone in the empty hall alone.

He knew she was right about everything she said. He thought if he wasn't as close to her they would just forget about everything but that wasn't going to work for them. They need to help each other.

Short Stories from the Hakuouki Manyo no Shou Stellaworth Bonus Booklet (Part 4)

This is the translation of the last part of the Manyo Stellaworth Bonus Booklet! All three stories (Kazama, Iba, and Sakamoto's stories) take place in Edo Blossoms and may contain some mild spoilers, so be sure that you are okay with them to continue reading ;-) As always, the icons/banners come from the game's website.

Kazama's Story

"May the two of you find repose in this room" the innkeeper said graciously, and escorted us into the room. However, the moment we stepped through the door, both I and the young girl from the Yukimura family stood still in surprise. "…!" The two futons in the room were nestled side by side, a placement suggesting that the innkeeper might have mistaken us for a wedded couple. "As such, may you enjoy your stay." With impeccable manners, the innkeeper left the room. After the disastrous culmination of the Battle of Toba-Fushimi, we pursued the Shinsengumi back to the Eastern provinces. Since it was getting late, we decided to stay here for the night.

"Um, Mr. Kazama…" Calling my name, Yukimura Chizuru's face was not only red but her neck was also crimson. (Does she think I'm going to do something to her?) Back when we were still in Kyoto, I had made multiple raids on Shinsengumi's headquarters and clashed in conflict with their soldiers. While I could empathize with her insecurities about what I may do… "Don't worry. I'm not the type to lay my hands on a woman before she was wedded to me." "Truly?" The young girl from the Yukimura family cast an uncertain gaze at me. "Of course. I also made an agreement with the female Oni of Hachisuka, remember? Oni never breaks their promises." "Yes, I do remember…" Upon hearing my words, she finally seemed to let down her guards a little, and the tension in her shoulders relaxed. "But, I am a man of reason. If indeed, you find yourself wanting to marry me, I wouldn't rule out the possibility." After I added that, the young girl from the Yukimura family retreated and stood with her back against the wall. "N-No, I never promised anything like that!" With that, she tightly clutched the small dagger that she carried with her. I thought to myself, this was undoubtedly a young girl inclined to react excessively. (At first, I was only interested in her because she is a descendant of the Yukimura family of the oni clan in the Eastern provinces, but…) Gradually, I found myself attracted by her charm. Like how she would take each of my little pranks with earnest, how attentive she was to others' needs, and how she always seemed to intuitively comprehend the way things are.

"Um, Mr. Kazama?" "I won't lay a finger on you. If I break my word, you can use that little dagger of yours to kill me, or do as you please. But speaking of that, I won't make it easy for you to kill me." With that, I extinguished the light and lay down in the futon. Yukimura Chizuru seemed to hesitate for a moment, but before long, I felt her get into the futon too. Judging from the way she breathed, it seemed that she still had not completely let go of her vigilance. (That's okay. There's plenty of time. As long as she keeps on traveling with me, a day will come when she eventually falls in love with me. It's just a matter of time, so there's no need for haste.) While musing over these thoughts, I realized that the sound coming from the neighboring futon had gradually become the soothing breathing of deep slumber. (She still seems a bit guarded, but she must be really tired, too.) I recalled her nervous look from earlier and couldn't help but smile in amusement. (If this girl becomes my wife, life among the oni clan will certainly be anything but dull.) With these thoughts I closed my eyes, leaving the world to the realms of dreams.

Iba's Story

"My apologies. I heard that my servant's family has encountered an unfortunate circumstance, and it appears he must hastily return to his hometown," I said with regret as I arranged Chizuru's futon in my room. "It's… It's quite all right. There's nothing to be done about it," Chizuru replied. She had been lodging in my home in Edo for several days now. Just as we were beginning to grow accustomed to life here, the servant who had been looking after us decided to return to his hometown for a few days. Moreover, with Chizuru attracting the attention of many who might be chasing after her, I couldn't bear the thought of her sleeping alone. "I will place the futons. Please wait for a little over there," I said, intending to lay out her futon first. "Wait a moment, let me do it. In gratitude for Iba-san's hospitality, please allow me to do what I can." Chizuru replied. "You needn't trouble yourself…" "It's no trouble; please let me." With these words, Chizuru quickly began to lay out not only her futon but also mine. In the blink of an eye, the futons for the two of us were ready. (It's almost as if… We're a married couple.) As I looked at the two futons that were placed side by side, this idea involuntarily crossed my mind. I stole a glance at Chizuru, who was standing beside me. "…" It seemed that she was thinking along similar lines. Her cheeks gradually took on a rosy hue. "Let me guess what you're thinking right now," I said, inquiring. She shivered nervously. "No, I… I wasn't… I wasn't thinking of anything!" Though Chizuru responded otherwise, her adorable reactions were easy to read, always betraying her feelings. "Really? You don't feel like we look like a newly married couple?" I asked, half in jest. "…!" I had hit the mark. Even the tips of her ears were in blush. She bashfully lowered her head and hastily slipped under the covers. "How can you say that…! How could I ever match Iba-san if we were married…" She seemed to have managed to express this thought after some effort. "Is that so? But if you were truly my wife, I would be quite honored," I said. "…" I sensed her holding her breath beneath the covers. "I don't say such things lightly; I've always been sincere." After those words, I extinguished the lamp. The room immediately darkened, allowing us to feel each other's presence even more keenly. (I don't want to rush things… Will that day truly arrive? The day I take you as my wife…) With these thoughts in mind, I, too, pulled the covers over myself to sleep. ☄︎fin.☄︎

Sakamoto's Story

"Oh, this room looks gorgeous! Staying here, we would surely rest well. Chizuru?" "Y-Yes…" After the Battle of Toba-Fushimi, as we followed the trail of the Shinsengumi all the way to Edo, Chizuru and I traveled to the Eastern provinces, intending to spend the night at an inn along the way. If we couldn't reach the inn before nightfall, we would definitely end up spending the night outdoors. However, luck was on our side today. "By this time, it's likely that the pub is already closed. We can dine tomorrow. "Y-Yes, that sounds reasonable…" Chizuru's response was strained, and her expression was also rather awkward as she constantly avoided meeting my gaze. (Well, it can't be helped. It's the first time we've shared a room like this. I don't think this girl has ever been in a romantic relationship before.) "Rest assured, I have no interest in imprisoning a woman who doesn't desire my company. I won't lay a finger on you," I reassured her, though it seemed she was not entirely assured. "……In that case. Here, take this." I withdrew the pistol from my pocket and took hold of Chizuru's wrist, placing the firearm in her hand. "Ryoma-san, what is this for?" "In case something unpleasant happens, just use this to pierce my heart. It has silver bullets, right? Those can actually kill me." I said, but Chizuru turned pale at my words. "How can you say such things…!" Her expression also grew tense. "… Even if it's a joke, please don't say things like that. How could I ever harm Ryoma-san…" Indeed, I had taken my joke way too far, especially considering Chizuru had lost her important companions in the Battle of Toba-Fushimi. "I'm sorry; I was too thoughtless. I only wanted to put your mind at ease, but it seems I did just the opposite. "It's alright…" Chizuru quietly shook her head. Then, she picked up the pistol and handed it back to me. "Although you say that, I'd still prefer you to hold onto it. It might make you feel safer, after all." I said. "It's alright… I trust Ryoma-san, so please take this gun back, Ryoma-san." Seeing Chizuru looking directly at me, this time I was the one taken aback. "I'll go change into my nightgown." Chizuru said, and she was ready to leave the room. "No, I'll step out for a moment, and you can change your clothes here. Just let me know when you're done." "Oh…" I left Chizuru in the room and went out into the corridor. (Chizuru is as resolute as ever. Her straightforwardness only makes me like her even more.) Even though I was being led on by a girl much younger than me, it was a rather pleasant feeling. (Despite the numerous frustrations, as long as I'm with her, this journey seems like it'll be an enjoyable one.) I contemplated this as I waited for Chizuru to finish changing. ☄︎fin.☄︎

Willa is the youngest/adopted daughter of Old McDonald, who had a fascination with asking impossible questions about the weather and the world around her. She later became a weather reporter in Storybrook.

Her name means "will; desire, and protection."

Princess Blossom Twinkletoes, aka Flower Power: second in command of the Guardeners!

Powers: Can manipulate plant life by dancing. She can create any type of plant depending if she focuses hard enough or depends on her emotions.

Blossom is one of twelve flowering daughters of a king and queen from "The Twelve Dancing Princesses" who all came from several types of flower seeds and grew in the couple's garden. She becomes a dance teacher.

Her outfit is heavily based on hippies/disco culture. Her name means "flower-like"

She's very sensitive to very cold and hot temperatures and loud noises, among many others. She has hypersesthesia/sensory processing disorder.

Laurie Mary-Jane Dolittle, also known as Nurse Vetico: member of the Guardeners!

Powers: Can communicate with animals. Using her helmet, she can send messages even further if her team needs backup. She can also heal others, making her the healer/nurse of the team.

Laurie is the younger daughter of Dr. John Lloyd-Dolittle (and aunt of current day Dr. Dolittle. The trait of communicating animals was passed down from many generations. She later becomes a veterinarian.

Though she loves purple and pink, she wears blue in her hero form since blue is a calming color and helps ease those animals who are injured.

Her name means "symbol of victory."

Coral Reef, also known as Zena-Waste: member of the Guardeners!

Powers: Can manipulate water and bend the matter (turning it into ice, turning it into steam, etc). She can also use her Cadabra-Grabbers (her arm braces) to grab tons of trash.

She's the daughter of a Mermaid and a sea monster (current day aunt of the Little Mermaid). She's missing her left leg due to it being caught in a ship's blade (her tail is also affected). She has a hard time swimming and uses floats to support herself.

Her entire outfit is made from reused plastic, bags, papers, and metals.

Her name means "sea growth."

Gotham Academy is the most prestigious school the city has to offer. With a rich history since its founding in 1863, it has seen many students pass through its halls.

Currently, school break has ended and students return back to their education. They chattered about their holidays and excitement filled the air over seeing their friends again.

They didn’t know about the storm that was going to disrupt their peace.

The doors slammed wide open. Illuminating the girl wearing a pink hoodie that was definitely against the school dress code.

No one paid her any mind.

When the bell rang, students reluctantly headed to their classrooms.

Mr. Myers was a perfectly ordinary English teacher who had the lovely opportunity to teach at Gotham’s most prestigious education institution.

Currently, he was taking attendance for homeroom.

“Rei Yukimura.”

“Here.”

“Rebel Without-a-Cause.” The teacher paused and looked again at the last name written down on his list.

“Rebel Without-a-Cause” he repeated with a tinge of confusion and settling fear.

“Here.” Came from a voice in the back. Looking every bit of the picture of a delinquent student with combat boots both propped up on the desk and customised school uniform that goes against every school dress code was Rebel. The teenage maniac killer from France who is also the daughter of Joker and Gotham’s newest problem.

Everyone in the class turned to look at her. Upon meeting her gaze, they looked away for fear of drawing attention to themselves.

Mr. Myers, a born and raised Gothamite with nerves of steel, said, “I wasn’t aware that I was getting a new student.”

Rebel hummed before answering, “Well, the paperwork wasn't finalised until this morning.”

She dared him to challenge her.

Mr. Myers, a born and raised Gothamite with self-preservation instinct, didn’t take the bait.

“Well then, let’s begin the class, shall we? We won’t have trouble here, right, miss Rebel?”

“No. No. I’m just here to learn. Psych ward is not a good learning environment.”

“Very well then. Let’s start homeroom.”

Mr. Myers turned back to the whiteboard.

Batman and Commissioner Gordon met on the roof of Gotham Police Station.

“The strangest thing happened today.” Gordon began and turned to face Batman. “Rebel went to Gotham Academy.”

“Hn.” Batman grunted. This was news to him and caught his interest. Tim had dropped out of the place years ago and Damian refused to mingle among the ‘low-minded morons’ in ‘prison for children’.

“Apparently, she had enrolled herself there. Caused a bit of panic among parents when they found out. But she has done nothing bad as of yet.”

“How is she enrolled?” Batman asked, “Wouldn’t the school board deny her entry?”

Gordon sighed, “According to some ‘anonymous’ tips, Rebel had threatened most of them with blackmail. She sent proof of the incriminating evidence she had on them that none of them want being leaked to the press.”

“Hn.”

“It’s a headache. We have tried to arrest her but she pulled out some bullshit loophole law from years ago that she found that basically says that we can’t arrest her while she is on Gotham Academy grounds during school hours. That law is still in place to this day so our hands are tied unless the city council gets on changing it and you know how long the process takes.”

“Hn.”

“In addition to that, she has signed a contract that says that she promises to not cause any physical harm to the teachers and students. Or else she would be expelled. That contract has incredibly detailed circumstances where she would not be to blame if there were some injuries on a student or staff member in an incident involving her. In addition to that, she could continue her schooling online if she happens to be in Arkham. The frustrating bit is that all those conditions she set out were all reasonable. She had Harvey Dent, wearing a mask to cover his uglier side, come in as her lawyer when she signed the contract.”

“Two-Face had his lawyer licence revoked.” Batman said.

“Again, due to some technicality, it is Two-Face who doesn’t have the right to practise law. Harvey Dent still can. And it was Harvey Dent who was in the meeting. Or so Rebel claimed.”

“Hn.”

“The law bends to exactly fit Rebel's wishes and we have no clue why she wishes to go to school.”

“I have an idea.”

Gordon waited.

Batman stood there silent.

“Well, what is it?” Gordon asked, annoyed by his silence.

Batman pointed behind Gordon. The Commissioner turned around to see a pink dot in the distance, jumping from rooftop to rooftop.

Gordon turned back around to see that the vigilante had disappeared. Probably chasing down Rebel.

Rebel walked out from the fast food joint, humming with her goods in one hand. She expertly parkoured one-handed onto the rooftop. She set down the bags of food and reached for her backpack.

A few minutes later, a blanket is laid out with paper plates and soft drink cans nearly arranged on it.

There was a thud signalling the arrival… of who she wasn’t expecting.

Rebel turned around and her forehead creased into a frown.

“Mister Bat.”

“Rebel. How was your first day in school?”

“Fun.” She replied. “Are you going to stop me?”

“Hn.”

A non-answer.

“Relax. I am not going to kill any of them-” Rebel realised why Batman was worried about her going to school. Her track record of murdering classmates.

“I suppose my past history does make people nervous about me attending school. I promise that I am in a healthier state of mind now. You can check with Dr. Fenton.”

Rebel tried to reassure the vigilante. Everyone she knew had asked her for the reason behind her latest decision to go back to school. The paranoid Bat was probably the same as everyone else. Wondering if she would cause another school massacre.

“I am not worried about that.” Batman said, cutting off her babbling.

“Huh?” Rebel gave him a look of surprise.

“You wouldn’t have gone through all that trouble of making an air-tight contract with many conditions that would backfire on you if you ever make the slightest misstep.”

“What if it is all just a ruse? What if I am just biding my time? What then?” Rebel challenged.

“Then, I will personally drag you back to Arkham into the cell with maximum security.”

“Do it then.”

“Not until you give me a reason to. I believe some people need second chances.”

“You have given my biological father many chances and he has never changed. What if I am not that much different from him?”

“You are not your father. You are someone independent of him. You make your own choices.”

“Still a criminal though.”

“But not a murderer.”

Rebel lets out a dark laugh, “What makes you so sure that I have never killed before?”

“I have kept an eye on you since you set foot in this city. When you get angry, you lash out and take it out on empty places. You ease your boredom with pranks and heists. In all of your plans, you had considered the civilians and they were all left unscathed. And I know that you are not fully set on what you want to do.”

“Maybe I just don’t like getting blood on my clothes.”

“Emily Campbell.” Batman said. The name didn’t ring any bells.

“Who?”

“She was the girl you saved from an explosion which you caused.” Batman explained.

“Oh, the Tik-Tok girl. She was a stupid girl standing there to record a video for five minutes of fame. I am not a monster who is going to let someone die by their stupidity.” Rebel remembered that she was a villain not a hero anymore.

“Besides, it’s more fun to see themselves being humiliated by the audience they were trying to impress.” Rebel finished.

“Most villains wouldn’t care enough to save her but you did. And you rescued her.” Batman pointed out. “You convinced yourself that you are some evil person because that’s what people told you that you are.”

“Stop psychoanalysing me!” Rebel said angrily.

Batman was stubborn in letting her know that she was wrong.

“Even if they die, you visit their graves with flowers. You carry around a gun filled with blanks because you can’t handle the thought of killing someone. You wear a mask to distance yourself from your true nature because you hate…” Batman trailed off, realising his mistake a bit too late.

“Myself.” Rebel finished calmly. The calm before the storm.

“I hate myself. But self-loathing is a very common thing in our lifestyle. Along with the guilt with each person you cannot save. Another person you failed. Another name to remember and etched into your heart. It’s worse if you knew them. It’s devastating if you care about them very deeply.”

Rebel had another thing in common with her father. She knew just how to get under Batman’s skin.

“Enough.”

He would not admit that his voice was slightly shaky when he said it.

“No. You fucking started it and it’s my turn to psychoanalyse you.”

Rebel was a vengeful angel on a warpath. Intend on leaving the earth scorching with her wrath. She was out for his blood.

“You break every promise you made because you convinced yourself that it’s for the greater good. That only made all the relationships you have so strained and you feel alone. Once you realise that you are alone, you decided that it was the best outcome and continued on carrying the weight of everything like you are Atlas. Like you are the titan that can hold up the sky. When the reality is that you are not a god, you are just a human who is too paranoid to trust anyone and pushed everyone who remotely cared about you away for your stupid self-assigned mission!”

Batman knew all of this. He had spent many nights thinking about it. He was self-aware enough to admit to himself that Rebel was right and on point for everything she said. But he didn’t say anything to refute it.

Because Batman knew that Rebel was not talking about him and that was the worrying part.

Rebel didn’t speak for a while and just waited for him to argue back.

When he didn’t, she scowled and rubbed her eyes.

“It’s the dust.” Rebel said, louder than needed.

Batman continued to say nothing and reached into his utility belt for a packet of tissue and held it out to her. An olive branch and an apology.

She took it and faced away from him. He politely looked away.

Her phone beeped and she took it out to read the message.

“Looks like Lay’s not going to be coming. Some trouble came up.” Rebel reported when there was no need for her to do so.

Batman thought about what to say but he had already pushed her too much for today.

“For what my opinion is worth, I believe that you will do the right thing when it comes down to it.” was what he ended up going with.

Rebel scoffed. Although she looked thoughtful about his words.

As Batman was about to grapple off the roof, she said the one word he was hoping for.

“Wait.”

Batman stopped, the arm with the grappling gun still raised.

Rebel fidgeted in her spot, hesitation written all over her.

“I… I thought about it. Whether I should tell you or not. Even before you chased me here.” Rebel started. “And you were right. I don’t want to go through with it.”

Batman put his grapple gun away.

Rebel gave him a look that was a bit difficult to decipher. 

“Here’s the deal. You do this one thing for me and I will call it off.”

“What’s the catch?”

“I need you to keep an open-mind and try to believe that I am not making things up. This is the context of what I was going to do.”

Batman would admit that he had been slightly curious about her past. He does the typical background check on her like he did with all of his Rogues but not as in-depth. There was always something off about what he had gleamed.

He was expecting neglectful parents or being outcasted for being strange.

What he got was completely different.

Evil butterflies. Teenage superheroes who were given a responsibility too big and way over their heads. Magic jewelries that could grant wishes. The city being attacked on a regular basis because someone had a bad day. The world nearly ending a few times. Said magical jewelries given out to other teenagers, one of whom was Rebel.

That last confession had confirmed his theories about who had taught her to fight.

“I have never heard about it.” Batman said. He was not trying to point out that she was making this up but it was bad if this had never appeared onto the Justice League’s radar.

“I assume it’s because the threat was mainly contained in Paris and the akuma battles rarely lasted for more than a day. Most people don’t know an attack happened until way later. I was there with Ladybug and the rest of the team when Hawkmoth got defeated.”

“What happened to him?”

“Ladybug dealt with him.” She answered. “And… I was in contact with Ladybug’s civilian identity afterwards. A few months later, she told me that she met Giovanni Zatara.”

“Zatara? I’ll have to ask Zatanna to confirm.”

“Yeah.” Rebel appeared nervous for some reason. “Can you not… look for Ladybug? I have caused her enough trouble.”

“Why wasn’t she there at your trial?”

Rebel’s shoulder slumped. “The Miraculouses used to be protected by this super secret society and a few months before my trial, they took the Miraculouses away and wiped Ladybug’s memories. As for the rest of the team. They were out of the country, pursuing their careers so they didn’t know this was happening and it all went down fast.”

He felt sympathy for the girl in front of him. He was mostly convinced that the story is true. His only worry was that she might be lying about how involved she actually was.

“Why are you telling me all of this?”

Rebel sighed. “I don’t agree with what Ladybug did for Hawkmoth.”

Batman waited for her to elaborate.

“I- she let him get away mostly scot free.” Rebel confessed. “Back then, I thought it was the right thing. The most peaceful resolution. We get the Miraculous back and he gets his wife back. The whole reason he wanted a wish was to bring her back. Happily ever after, right?” She sounded choked up.

Batman stepped forward and gently placed a hand on her shoulder.

“I know I sound a bit selfish, wishing for him to suffer when he is happy with his life and I am not doing well with my life.” Rebel continued.

She looked up with determination. “I want you to arrest Hawkmoth. That is the deal. You catch him and I will stop what I am going to do. But if some of the others want to continue regardless, I can’t do anything about it. I can only give you my notes so you can counter them.”

“I assume Hawkmoth had caused you some hurt. If you are going against Ladybug’s decision like this.”

“He was part of the reason I had a falling out with my old classmates. I couldn’t give a concrete reason why I was skipping out on our hangouts for akumas. It was so easy for that two-faced lying bitch to get into their heads and-”

Rebel stopped and tried to calm down from her rant.

Breathe in. Breathe out. In. Out. In. Out.

She steeled herself and continued.

“The thing is I saw him on the news the other day. Celebrating his wife’s birthday. It’s fucking selfish of me. He didn’t get to suffer the consequences of his actions. I am here in Gotham as a known criminal while he is acting like he is god’s gift to people with his appealing bland designs. It’s kinda late but I want him to get the consequences he deserves.”

Rebel looked at him. “Is it pathetic of me to ask this of you?”

Batman mulled over the issue. “Why are you asking me to do this?”

“Hawkmoth’s secret identity was connected to my murder trial even though he didn’t know that I was one of the superheroes that interfered in his plans as Hawkmoth. I don’t want it to be seen as me trying to get back at my victims.”

“He’s one of the parents.”

Rebel nodded.

“Yes. You are a smart guy. You would be able to figure out who he is. Given that you believe that I am not making the entire thing up.”

“You rarely lie, Rebel.”

“I lie all the time.”

“You are not a very good one. So it is easy to tell when you are not.”

“Fuck.”

“I will verify what you said first.” Batman said. “I will come back later. Hold your plans off for at least a week.”

“I am not that good of a person you think I am, Mister Bat. The only reason I haven’t done him in is because I don’t ever want to step back in Paris if I can help it.”

“I have one more question for you.”

“What is it?”

“Why did you go back to school?”

“My personal reason why?”

Batman gave a slight nod.

“I suppose you can call it a desperate attempt at living a ‘normal’ life.” Rebel answered.

“I see.”

“Be good.” Those were Batman’s final words before he grappled off the roof.

“Remember who you are talking to, Batman.” Rebel mumbled into the night as she popped open a soda can.
