❤️ While Angel has a big list of programs he likes to watch when he's little, Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood is at the top 10 (after Blue's Clues, Sesame Street, Slumberkins, Angelina Ballerina, Olivia, Puffin Rock, Invader Zim, Adventure Time, and Octonauts).

🐯 Angel loves all of the characters in the show, but he loves the Tiger family and Cat family the most. Whenever they come up on the screen, the spiderling excitingly points at said screen and says to Husk, "Das you, Kitty!"

🚎 Angel loves singing along to the songs. Husk and Charlie sing the songs with Angel to remind him of what to do, whether it's coping with big feelings or trying new things.

❤️ Angel loves doing the "Ugga Mugga" hugs to everyone in the hotel when he's little. He does it with Husk and Fat Nuggets the most.

🐯 Angel has these toys. He loves to push his trolley around and putting the characters and miscellaneous mini toys inside while singing "Won't You Ride Along With Me?".

🚎 Angel also has a bunch of Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood books and reads them. He even gets Charlie and/or Husk to read them to him.

Jane visits a garden which is immediately recognisable as the home of an ardent Australian native plant lover. This intriguing garden has hundreds of native plants thriving on 1/4-acre block at the foothills of Melbourne’s Dandenong Ranges.

Bev Fox has planted natives in every space available, including the verge. She grows Isotoma from seed and has a very rare white-flowering one. “They're just potluck what colour comes up. I got a surprise when I saw that one.” Dotted throughout the garden is brilliantly blue Veronia which Bev propagates by cuttings in autumn. Paper daisies and a broad mix of other colourful flowers make a lovely entrance to the home.

Flowering mugga ironbark and peppermint gums tower over the garden and are loved by the birds. They are the only original plantings from when Bev began re-designing in 2003. “Apart from the trees, it’s all new... It was a bare palate,” says Bev. The new garden is designed to attract wildlife to the property, but also provides Bev with solace of her own. “I lost my husband in 2000, my brother in 2001 and my mother in 2002. In between all those my two dogs died, and I just thought I need something new in my life. I decided a new garden would be helpful and that's what keeps me really happy all the time.... You get into your own happy place in a garden, I love it. Even when the birds are noisy.”

It's easy to appreciate the bushland that Bev has created. The variety and repetition of species in her garden gives it a natural feel, which Bev hopes recreates the ambience of the Australian bush. The back garden is shaded and there are enticing curved paths made of gravel with large gums casting cool shade over the many shrubs and pots. It's a very spacious backyard but it’s filled with plants. Bev says she’s achieved this through layering. “I’ve got very small things right along all the edges, then (the next layer is) up to about a metre high, and then (the next layer) a bit higher. The big tree at the back, I’ve cut the lower branches off to give these room to grow and keep it nice and bushy looking.” The layering lets light in and creates interest all year.

Bev says, “I think it's a stroll garden. It’s a garden to be in, not to sit back and look at.” Her favourite plants to visit include the native mint family Prostanthera and oak-leaved Thomasia. Being an avid plant collector, Bev likes to propagate through seeds and cuttings to fill up her garden.

To strike a cutting of Westringea ‘Violet Skies’, Bev says, “It’s easy.”

1. Choose firm healthy stems to take your cutting from.

2. Strip the bottom half of the leaves off the stem and pinch out the soft tip. Eliminating leaf material helps the stem focus on root growth.

3. Ensure the base of the stem has a clean cut, then dip into a rooting hormone.

4. Fill a small clean pot with propagation mix. Buy in stores or mix 1/3 perlite: 2/3 peat.

5. Tap soil firmly and create a hole for the cutting to go into.

6. Place the cutting in, press down. Keep moist and warm in a greenhouse for several weeks.

This garden really celebrates the diversity of Australian native plants and shows what can be done when devoted to experimenting. Bev says, “Going out and seeing these plants in the wild is one of the greatest things to do – and I think, ooh, I can grow that at home. It’s lovely.”

- I got 85% of my homework done, and I'm just waiting till buggy crashes out for the rest. Plus, I need to send out 3 resumes to 3 awesome jobs I saw on LinkedIn because, and more research on the new metric for my Lean class, and yeah... I'm drinking a big mugga Tetley for a reason.

-We got a new flag for the house yesterday. I usually have up something to do with our cultural background. And save for the Ukrainian flag that was up forever, I've followed in this tradition with a big Drapeau D'acadie Cajun for the few that I have in my background and the ones on here I know and of whom I think the world(that means you Sunni!). Plus, it confuses the neighbour who is also a moonbat.

- Speaking of new additions, the trees in front of the house and the flowering trees in the back yard are going nuts, practically overnight. Ahhh spring...

- We have 19 asparagus sprouts, and H and I are thrilled. The back yard is starting to come to life, and H is about to plant all of the sprouts that are occupying the windowsill in the living room. There is something about watching her in her element that makes me smile. To be honest, it pisses me off that life delt her the hand that it did because if she would have had a family that supported her in the slightest she could have done anything. But no parents, grandparents who did their best, nobody putting air under her and helping her realize her dreams, her still husband who pursued her when she was barely 14 and he was 20, growing up a woman in small town timber culture... the deck was stacked against her from day 1. I'm just happy that I can give her space to grow and realize a few dreams, and that we get to raise the Henry together. Talk about a gift.

Botanical retexture for Minetest, some example screenshots 2020 Digital

At some point I couldn't stand looking at the plant textures anymore, because they weren't recognisable. So I retextured some of them such that I can actually make out what I'm looking at. I decided that it should give me pleasure to look at every time I play; and now it does. I did it at a bit higher of a pixel count, to give myself room to work; but I wanted it to still go along with the non-retextured parts.

I realised that I don't think I have shown you any pixel art I have done before. I don't use this medium too often, because if I do too much of it, it is liable to hurt my hand; but it's alright, I enjoy it when I do use it. And as long as I'm careful, it is a medium I would be willing to take a commission in.

Above, you can see some of the smaller default plants. You can also see the trunk of an iron tree from the Mineral Trees module, and, further away, a default blueberry bush.

Some of the mineral trees: I made the iron tree be a mugga ironbark, and I made the copper tree be a copper beech. I did not choose these for their names (English isn't my native language), but because I tried to imagine what woody plants would have a suitable appearance. Not all of the mineral trees match the name like that.

The default uh... default-tree. I decided that since apples grow on it, it has to be an apple tree. I only did the foliage and not the bark or fruit for this one, so far. You can also see a diamond block; there are only a few non-plant blocks I retextured, but the diamond block was one of them, because I couldn't stand that it looked like a blue plastic box.

The gravel was also such a non-plant block I retextured. The way that it looks now, I enjoy the thought of walking barefoot on these pebbles, and though the sound is not different, I now frequently walk over them just to walk over them.

These are all the screenshots I have for you this time. Maybe I will show you more of the textures I made in a later post, if you are interested.
