My comment to Finn:

Being among the contingent to have found out about them recently through their latest releases, I find Sleep Token refreshing. The closer I get to entering my dotage and all *snorts*, I find myself trying more and more to opt out from the worship of personalities attached to art and entertainment. And while I still enormously appreciate directness, I also appreciate new opportunities to exercise critical thinking and not have the culture I interact with spelled out for me explicitly. If your prior observations are to be believed (and I do), that possibly puts me in a minority among a majority seeking connections to artists via their presented personalities. *shrugs* I respect that. As for your observation that more people would still stick around if not for the long, slow segments, I will say that my exploration of their discography has revealed that this band rewards those who invest their time. It could be that might hold them back from mainstream success, but only they can say whether that’s even anything they would want.

I’m calling it. Some asshole is going to devote themself to “unmasking” the band. This is usually the same kind of asshole that gets buzzed from posting spoilers online and ruining shit for everyone else.
