Christmas was in full swing at La Résistance headquarters; halls decked with garland, windows adorned with festive curtains, Christmas tree garnished with homemade ornaments.
And all eight of La Résistance’s members, finishing up the decor in the rec room.
Well, all eight of them were in the rec room, but not all eight were decorating.
It was really just Vegan-Su doing all the work, Apocalipsis helping to reach the high places whenever needed.
Brutux and Dr. White sat on the couch, in front of the fireplace/TV playing a video of a crackling fire, listening to Christmas music.
BP and Katani had taken mistletoe, stuck it to a stick with fishing line, and gone around holding it above peoples heads trying to get them to kiss.
Shooter would be lying if he said it wasn’t hilarious
Sheriff was goofing off, per usual. Wandering from person to person, cracking a joke, throwing an insult, getting punched in the face by Vegan-Su when the mistletoe made its way over to them, accidentally breaking an ornament, getting tangled in the Christmas lights—The list could go on.
But Shooter didn’t care about how long the list was, he just cared about the man behind it.
Sheriff, he loved him—
No he didn’t love him. He couldn’t love him. But god did he love him anyways.
Sheriff, and his bright orange hair like that of a fire; drifting out and up, sending scalding embers of his personality wherever he went. Sheriff, and his elegant teal-blue eyes that glow brighter than ice shining in the morning light. Put side by side you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between the two, their beauty unparalleled in the great expanse of winter.
But Shooter could tell the difference.
Shooter knew the deepness of Sheriff’s eyes, like the sky, infinite and beautiful. Full of possibility. He knew the gentle touch of his lightly tanned skin; from the few times Sheriff had sought comfort in Shooter’s arms.
He knew Sheriff’s cockiness, how much of an idiot he could be sometimes. How he could fuck up so badly, yet make it out fine. How he could be so dumb, yet have everything work for him.
But Shooter loved it. He loved everything about Sheriff, from his dumbassary to his sweet giddy smiles.
He only wishes he actually could love him.
Shooter sighs, staring out the window he placed his menorah in. The menorah that Sheriff, had gotten for him. (Alongside enough candles to last all of Hanukah, which makes Shooter doubt that Sheriff had actually found this all on his own.)
“Hey Shoooooooter!” The man in question saunters toward him. Ready to continue his antics.
“You look reallllllll lonely over here you know,” Sheriff teases, “Why don’t you stop being uh…” He thinks for a moment, “damn it, Brutux what was the word again?!”
Shooter can hear Brutux sigh from the other side of the room, “A Debbie Downer?” “What he said!” Sheriff smirks.
Shooter rolls his eyes. He’s such an idiot… “I ain’t bein’ a ‘Debbie Downer’ Sheriff. I’m just thinking.”
“Mhm, bout what?”
Shooter shrugs, red tinting the tips of his ears. You “Nothing much.”
They stare out the window together, barren desert wasteland surrounds the headquarters. It looked the same year round, no matter where you went.
And most of the time, it was hot. Hotter than you’d think it could ever get. The Big Fart sped up climate change, and it hadn’t snowed since then, but it still got fairly chilly this time of year.
Proof of that was last night, up on the roof, when Sheriff pressed into Shooter’s side for warmth against the bitter darkness.
It still made his heart flutter to think about…
“Lovely weather we’re having huh?” Sheriff interrupts his thoughts.
“Beautiful weather,” Shooter chuckles, “Should be expecting snow any day now!”
Sheriff laughs with him, “Man! I can’t remember the last time I saw snow.”
“Neither can I.”
“You lived in the city, didn’t you?”
Shooter nods, “Yeah, our snow weren’t as clean as what you’d get out in the rural parts.”
“You’d be surprised.” Sheriff shrugs, “I remember one time I was playing with the pigs out in the snow, and I swear not five minutes later, all of that snow became mud.” He chuckles, “Ryan came out after a while to play too, and made a point to tell me not to eat the muddy snow. But I think it was a little too late for that…”
Sheriff exhales a reminiscent sigh that begs for the past to come back to him. “I miss that farm, the pigs, and Ryan…”
“Hey, don’t be a Debbie Downer!” Shooter teases, eliciting a smirk from Sheriff.
“You’re right! It’s the season to be jolly after all!” He laughs, before frowning again. “I just wish he was still here…”
Shooter puts a gentle hand on Sheriff’s shoulder. He flinches at the sudden touch, before leaning into it. “You got us Sheriff,” Shooter tries to comfort him, “You got us.”
Sheriff nods, “Thanks Sho—“ mistletoe smacks him in the face.
“Whoops! Sorry!” Katani laughs, moving the mistletoe stick.
Sheriff and Shooter share a confused glance, before looking up.
SHIT—OH MY FUCKIN—SHHHHHHHIITT
Shooters face is what most accurately displays his reaction; bright red. And he knew it too.
“Come on guys, it ain’t gay to kiss your homies!” BP encourages, giggling with Katani.
Sheriff awkwardly laughs, “I mean, he’s right you know?” Shooter doesn’t dare look at him.
Looking at him would make Shooter want to kiss him.
“Come on Shooter, I’m not that bad of a kisser! Swear on it!” Him and his cocky personality, back at it again…
Shooter looks him in the eye, and fucking shit. That was a bad idea. He wanted to disappear into the teal universe that was Sheriff’s eyes, disappear forever in something so beautiful, that it made him a blushing, red, sweaty, shaky, mess.
Every time he dared to meet his gaze.
“Shooter?” Sheriff’s voice draws him out of his mind, prompting him to absentmindedly take a step forward. “Hey I mean, if you don’t wanna do this it’s cool you kn—“
He kissed him.
He actually kissed him.
Only for a split second before pulling back and awkwardly laughing, “You ain’t that bad of a kisser Sheriff, no worries!” He takes a step back, “Ima uh… head off now.”
He hastily walks out of the room, leaving Sheriff in shock, BP and Katani cackling to themselves, and not a single other soul bothered.
Except himself of course.
Because holy shit, he kissed him.
End
I did it yet again, I wrote us some SheriffxShooter content. I was originally gonna make it more fluffy, but I wanted romantic tension so that’s what we get :3
Happy Holidays!

Sonic Frontiers sold 3 million copies.
For comparison’s sake, Sonic 06 sold 800k, Sonic Unleashed sold under 2.5 million copies, Sonic Colors sold 2.1 million copies, and Sonic Generations sold 1.8 million copies. Sonic Lost World sold 700k and is one of the lowest selling main games in the Franchise and yet the Zeti are prominent in the comic. Sonic Forces sold a pitiful in its first week and we may never know exactly how much Sonic Forces actually sold(and it having 5 million plus on players on PSN+ is not any indication of a sale since it was free.) Yet somehow the comic takes place directly after Forces. Sonic Mania sold just over a million in case those hardcore Sonic classic fans want to open their mouths. While I’m at it, Sonic Adventure sold 1.3 million and SA2 sold 1.7 million. Sonic Rush sold 1.3 million and its sequel, which suffered after 06 tarnished Sonic’s reputation, sold 300k. The first Sonic game sold 15 million copies and before Retro fans start talking shit, note that is the only game in the franchise that sold that amount and it was in the golden age of gaming. You could sell a wet fart in an Nintendo cartridge and it would have made a million easy. Sonic 2? 6 million. Sonic 3? 1.03 million. Sonic and Knuckles? 1.3 million. Sonic CD? 1.5 million. Shadow the Hedgehog? 2 million. And Sonic Heroes and probably the biggest offender as to why Sonic Team stopped giving a shit about quality or effort and more about that Christmas grind? 3.41 million in 2 years.
Sonic Frontiers sold like gang busters in the couple of months it’s been out.
If you think Sage or any Frontiers elements won’t be referenced or be in the comic, you are bugging. Especially given that one of the main writers of the game writes for the comic. If that’s what is keeping you from saying IDW Sonic is on the same canon as the games and not what Iizuka says or what Flynn has stated several times, you are bugging. You are kidding yourselves if you think IDW can’t possibly put in those elements from the game in their comic.
If you don’t consider Tangle or Whisper to be game character in spite of them appearing in two mobile games that have been downloaded and played more than any Sonic game and have been created with the help of Sonic Team’s own character designer, fling yourself into the Nile River and cope and seethe. Tangle and Whisper have merchandise in the Sega Shop.
TailsTube shorts? Written by Flynn. That little Amy Rose Tarot Card set that is coming out soon? Written by Flynn with art created by one of the many IDW comic artists. This comic series has well over 50 issues including 4 different 4 part miniseries. It sold out in Japan! It’s consistently IDW’s top selling comic beating both the Transformers and Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtles. It has sold over 10,000 copies an issue in a world where comics aren’t widely recognized unless it’s in the Marvel or DC. What they said in the beginning about it being diverged from canon no longer applies. Shit changed. It’s a new goddamn world. IDW Sonic is the only medium that actually uses your beloved obscure characters like Silver and Blaze. Like Cream. I don’t know what Flynn has done to make you turn up your nose at him but get over it. And the days of Sega pimping out Sonic to whatever Western media content creator and not caring what they churn out are over. The only exception to this is the movie verse(and because Iizuka has explicitly said it’s in a different canon)and honestly I have a tougher time trying to grasp how Sonic Prime is canon than I am with IDW. But regardless, it’s a new day. You are in a renaissance of Sonic and for once Sega gives enough of a shit about lore to want to make it all gel together and avoiding SATAM or Sonic Underground or Sonic the Comic or Archie Sonic the Hedgehog. Get the fuck over it.

Hiii!
Just disguisting isn't a boys book at all. It also isnt a girls book. Its a no one will ever like it book. It's so disguisting. Literally. There's a paragraph about
(TW GORE!)
When your playing with a knife and accidently cutting your own belly and your guts falling out. Then your dog enters the room and eats the guts, puking and eating it again. Then it poops and runs away. You can only watch with your mouth open and a fly flies into your mouth. It startles you so much you accidently swallow the fly. You look up and a bird poops in your eyes. You walk around, blind, and step in the poop of your dog. You slip and fall in a bath full of pus and maggots. You try pulling out the stop (if thats the word) to not drown but accidently pull out the hair thats in the stop. In there, there's a halfgrown babychicken with a little mutant body and says "Mama... mama...". You find it so disguisting that you say '#@!#@%$!' (funfact: its the most disguisting word ever) but you forgot your head explodes when you say that. So your head explodes and your tongue ends up in the toilet and your eyes in a spider web and the spider makes them liquid (funfact: spiders have stuff in their stomach that makes things liquid). But its a good thing because your parents enter the room dancing and cuddling and they ask 'whos body is this?' and start eating it because it weren't actually your parents- it are flesheating zombies and they start eating your body. Then a huge snail enters the room and starts doing a striptease, which you cant see, but you can feel it. Then your gutless, headless, halfeaten body runs out of the house to a road with lots of cars, yelling: "HELP! MY PARENTS ARE FLESHEATING ZOMBIES AND THERES A SNAIL DOING A STRIPTEASE!!!" But nobody listens because no sane anyone would ever stop for a gutless, headless, halfeaten body; they all just run over over over and over you until your just a disguisting red stain on the road. Read: mostly red, exept the pus and the white little pieces which are the maggots.

ps IM SORRY IM SORRY LMAOAO
Dear goodness that is not a book for anyone, what the heck did I just read ewwww, actually my sister might like it. it kinda reminds me of this thing I remember seeing as a kid. It was like an easy bake oven for gross things, like worms, maggots, and vomit it was called the queasy bake oven and you baked like worm cakes and dog vomit. Things like that. That's why as a kid I considered it a boy book cause the queasy bake oven was geared toward boys. But my sister actually wanted it. But we just got easy bake ovens again, we got easy bake ovens twice. Well I got one three times. I still have the third one, And yeah we had to get doubles of the same toy cause we didn't know how to share. One christmas we got one easy bake oven each and one snoopy snow cone machine each, we couldn't share it was a good thing she was more baby dolls and I was more barbie. I hated baby dolls. She also liked sports and bikes and skate boards. And I liked barbies, Britney spears and journals. However we both did religiously watch Bring It On, we had the VHS and DVD, that is not a movie for children now that I think about it. We were also somehow allowed to watch Players Club cause our family rented the vhs from block buster and the vhs player was in our playroom. That movie is about strippers, why was no one watching us?

Donatello x Tailor!Reader
Author’s Note: I’m actually somewhat proud of this, even though it took me longer than usual to complete. 😅
The sewer family’s unique mutant physiques issued you a challenge that you welcomed and the family appreciated you taking it so well. With your skills, you were willing to help expand their closets.
No one appreciated your contribution more than Bootyyyshaker9000 himself.
Donatello will help equip you with the finest tools, materials, and fabric he can purchase and find. It’s the least he can do when you offer to handcraft custom-made clothing for him and his family.
Need his measurements? *click**poof**clank* Battle shell is off.
Not sure if certain colors will either go together or clash with his green skin tone? He’ll give you his input in a heartbeat.
He sends in Shelldon from time to time to check up on your progress on clothing and to make sure you didn’t injure yourself with a prick or two from needles.
He will see one drop of blood from your finger and will act like he was dying.
Donnie also wanted a sneak-peek on projects you were working on, like a kid trying to find their hidden presents before Christmas hits. So he’ll discreetly (not really) look over your shoulder from time to time and question on your progress before you shoo him away.
Donnie will not hesitate to model for you. No questions asked.
He will do ^these^ exact poses and then some. XD
Seriously, though. Please let him model for you. He didn’t get a chance in ‘The Clothes Don’t Make the Turtle’ to have his own outfit montage unlike his brothers and he kind of feels robbed of the opportunity.
Let him show off his own outfits. I beg of you.
His Dynamite Don wrestling outfit in ‘Shell in a Cell’.
His Bug Busters attire.
His Daft Punk outfit in ‘Al Be Back’.
His vacation attire in ‘Man Vs. Sewer’.
His rich guy suit in ‘One Man’s Junk’.
His winter outfit in ‘Snow Day’.
The black and red Hamato Ninja attire he sported in the ‘Insane in the Mama Train’ and ‘Endgame’ special.
His black Ninpo attire in the ‘Finale’ episodes.
Hell, even his Lumberjack clothing in ‘The Purple Game’. Don’t give him an axe, though.
Hope you have room for his high-tech cameras and some lighting equipment in your working room because he’s making this a photo-shoot.
He didn’t mean to take up so much space in your area. He just got caught up in his excitement to notice at first.
Three words. PURPLE. SATIN. JACKET.
Make him one, please.
Bonus points if you craft some versions for the rest of the sewer family.
Leonardo. Raphael. Michelangelo. Splinter. April. Hell, even Draxum.
Surprise them all with this gift during an event or holiday like Christmas and they are going to jump you with a dog-pile hug.
Donnie will ask that you create some clothes for yourself as well.
He wants to match with you.
Checks ‘matching clothes’ from his Couple Goals list written in his neat, cursive handwriting.
That will be his new phone wallpaper, for sure.

30 Years of Genesis: Going 30 Years Playing No More Than 30 Minutes of Sonic
This summer marks the 30th anniversary of the launch of the Sega Genesis in North America. I had such a nostalgia trip reliving my memories of the GameBoy while crafting my recent GameBoy 30th Anniversary piece, that it only seemed fitting that Sega’s iconic 16-bit platform gets the same honors of recounting my memories with it. If you are looking for a more authoritative historical piece on it I recommend either Phoenix IV or Console Wars. The former is a strictly informative recounting of the history of the system while the latter is an entertaining retelling done in the form of a novel after days of interviews with everyone involved. The following are my own personal experiences of playing the Genesis over the past three decades.
I remember first encountering the Genesis while spending either Thanksgiving or Christmas 1991 over at my older sister and brother-in-law’s house. I was only eight at the time, and remember being perplexed at the black gaming box and the thought that there could somehow be other systems than the good ‘ol NES. I did not subscribe to any gaming magazines at this point and I think I was still about a year away from experiencing Sega’s deluge of combative commercials against the SNES. During that holiday season of ’91 I recalled playing the first Streets of Rage on the Genesis with my little brother nonstop the couple days we were there. I remember being blown away by how superior it was graphically to what I experienced with other NES brawlers before like Double Dragon. We only got up to the stage where we faced off against the dueling karate sisters who kept whooping us and neither my brother nor I had the skills at the time to get past.
The next year or two the only times I recall playing the Genesis were at my sister’s for the holidays or the occasional store kiosk. I remember my brother-in-law picked up other games we played regularly like ToeJam & Earl, Buster Douglas Boxing, Toxic Crusaders and PGA Tour Golf. I dug all of them, especially ToeJam & Earl where I had no idea what was happening half the time with its unorthodox level structure and item pick-ups, but loving the co-op gameplay, stylish graphics and its funky beats at the time. Brief memories of store kiosk play from the early 90s consisted of being horrible at the original Sonic the Hedgehog because it was too fast for my childhood noggin’ to comprehend. I also recall being confused at early editions of Madden Football at store kiosks because when I would press buttons to hike the ball ‘Audible’ would appear on screen and then eight or nine-year old Dale had no idea what that meant compared to easier pick up and play NES pigskin games I was conditioned to.
Until Christmas of 1995 I probably played no more than about 10 Genesis games all together. I was more aware of the system by that time thanks to reading magazines more regularly at that point and hearing from classmates who had the system, but until that point I was pretty loyal to my NES still (I did not get a SNES until late ’96). For the Christmas season of ’95 my best friend at the time who coincidentally lived three blocks away from me, Rich, received a Genesis and that was when I got a lot more hands-on time with its extensive library of titles. Rich and I shared a lot of similar game interests which at that time was a ton of sports games, fighters and action/brawlers.
For the next several months I was over at Rich’s for countless sleepovers and going nuts with fighters like Mortal Kombat II and Evander Holyfield’s Real Deal Boxing. Real Deal Boxing blew away Buster Douglas Boxing with more authentic boxing gameplay and an insanely thorough career mode where we would take a created boxer and move him up the ranks as champion until his skills gradually weakened with age to force his retirement. We absolutely ate up the sports games at that time. We played what seemed like an infinite amount of Madden NFL ‘97. A much wiser 13-year old Dale was no longer befuddled by the intricacies of Madden and we had so much fun with it. We would create many players to deck out our teams and keep running blitzes to try and injure the players because there was an intense bone-breaking injury sound effect that we ate up. It was like the equivalent of Favreau and Vaughn going nuts in Swingers when they made Gretzky bleed in NHLPA ‘93.
Mutant League Football was another favorite of ours that made that injury sound effect in Madden child’s play. EA also made MLF and it was the equivalent of NFL Blitz at the time with larger-than-life mutants and animals literally killing each other on the field with over-the-top hits. It was possible to force a team to retire due to killing off too many of its players which was always our desired objective! If you have not played its spiritual successor follow-up, Mutant Football League on PS4/XB1 I give it the highest of recommendations because it perfectly capture the sensation of the Genesis game while bringing it up to contemporary standards.
We also played a lot of EA’s violent driving game, Road Rash II. Being able to race motorcycles and knock out your competition with chains and nightclubs while trying to evade the cops seemed revolutionary when playing it for the first time! We later discovered EA’s take of Road Rash on rollerblades in the awesome rollerblade stunt/racing game Skitchin’! Fun fact about Skitchin’ is that the competitors you race against have gnarly nicknames like ‘Thrasher’ and ‘Jackal’ and thus in ’96 was the origin of how I came up with what wound up as my online handle but at the time was my radical Skitchin’ username, ‘Gruel’ to blend in with the rest of the pack and have stuck with it all these years later!
After spending several months devouring a good dozen or so Genesis games with Rich, it did not compare to the summer of ’96 when Rich signed up for the Sega Channel! I remember it launched in 1994 and seeing commercials for it at the time where it seemed too good to be true where for about $15/month would net the user a Genesis cartridge that would connect to a cable line and get the Genesis online streaming access to a rotating 40-50 Genesis games a month. That is right, decades before services like OnLive and Playstation Now, the Genesis did streaming gaming back in ’94 and it worked like a charm! Check out this pristine archival footage of the menus to see how it all worked. Sega Channel essentially was what Xbox Game Pass is today, and I am surprised to hear how little it is discussed when people reminisce about the Genesis.
We discovered so many new games this way and for that entire summer I was over at Rich’s about three to four days a week binging on Sega Channel games until Rich’s dad got on my case because I was over so often. I remember discovering new sports games on there like the innocuously titled Super Volleyball that we became somehow addicted to and the surprisingly awesome Tiny Toons ACME All-Stars that had its own killer spin on arcade basketball and soccer that it played like NBA Jam but filled with crazy Tiny Toons power-up attacks. Sega Channel is what additionally exposed me to co-op games like General Chaos, the Streets of Rage sequels and Gain Ground and classic single player games like Shadowrun, Comix Zone and Vectorman that Rich and I took turns trying to keep progressing through. Sega Channel also was my first exposure to the classic Bomberman franchise with many nail-biting rounds played of Mega Bomberman!
It came as no surprise to me when I finally bought a Genesis a few years later in 1999 that the first games I hunted down for it were those same games I first discovered on the Sega Channel! In April of 1999 shortly after I turned 16 I got my first after-school job and after a few paychecks I went to Wal-Mart to determine what should be one of the first games to buy on my own! This was around the time when Majesco re-released the third, mini-sized Genesis model at a discount price of around $30. I was legit stunned at that price for a brand new system, even if it was for a ten-year old platform at that time I could not help but instantly snatched it up!
If you read my GameBoy special from several weeks back you will recall my lamenting over its lackluster wrestling games compared to the superior ones on the 16-bit platforms. On Genesis, Rich and I played way too much Royal Rumble on the system. Other wrestling games I picked up for the Genesis over the years was the inferior predecessor to Royal Rumble in Super Wrestlemania. While I had a blast with Rumble way back when, it regrettably does not hold up well all these years later with its over-reliance on a button mashing grapple meter that obliterated thumbs that I have no idea how I tolerated at the time. Saturday Night Slam Masters was a unique wrestling game from Capcom. It is essentially Street Fighter II in a wrestling ring, complete with victory taunts, Mike Haggar from Final Fight in its roster and even has a few wrestling moves sprinkled in! I loved how they had over-the-top laser light entrances and larger-than-life character sprites at the time, and I recall enjoying the Genesis version more than the SNES. There was nothing else like it since, and on occasion I will still throw it in every couple of years. I continue to hope one day Capcom will release its sequel, Ring of Destruction in a random collection of arcade games because it never got a home port all these years later.
Sports games ruled on the Genesis! Pictured from clockwise at top left is Holyfield's Real Deal Boxing, NHLPA '93, Super Volleyball and Tiny Toon ACME All-Stars
I mentioned some of my favorite sports games for the system above, but it really needs to be emphasized how big sports games were on the Genesis. Both Sega and EA pumped out a seemingly endless line of sports titles for the system. I remember getting into silly speculation with Rich over how much extra memory that yellow tab on the EA carts allowed EA games to play better. For hoops titles I got my NBA Jam and Live fix on SNES, but on the ‘ol Genny my go-to basketball games were the oft-forgotten NCAA skinned version of Jam in College Hoops. I occasionally also threw in the hand-me-down street ball version of NBA Jam in Barkley Shut up Jam. I loved Madden, but Sega’s Joe Montana line of gridiron games were just a notch or two below too. For baseball, Sega’s World Series Baseball titles were in a league of its own when it came to gameplay and presentation with its larger-than-life hitter/batter perspective. For hockey EA’s NHL line was/is legendary! About four or five years ago my friend Derek gave me a ring to come over for some impromptu random gaming and he never played much Genesis before so when he got over I had the Genesis hooked up and laid out all my games for it and of that night we had the most fun playing a few rounds of NHL ‘94. At that point it was a 20-21 year old game and it still held up as one of the best hockey games of all time.
For brawlers I loved the Streets of Rage games, but I think it is my secret shame that I have yet to complete a single one. That must one day change! I did love the exclusive Genesis TMNT game, Hyperstone Heist! It was right up there with Turtles in Time and every couple of years my friend Matt and I make it a ritual to plow through that game. After many attempts we also conquered the Genesis port of the awesome arcade brawler, The Punisher! It does not have as friendly of a continue system as Hyperstone Heist so Matt and I had to learn to play a little more conservatively and not rely on mindless button mashing. It felt gratifying to have all that hard work pay off and beat The Punisher….until we got a copout ending screen of text saying ‘Now play like the Punisher and try hard difficulty.’ We did not, but I wound up looking up the ending several years later and at least Capcom made it worth your while because it had a far more intricate ending than many other brawlers at the time. The one Genesis brawler that always had our number was Captain America and the Avengers. It is a lot of fun to play, but it does not allow that many credits and by setting ourselves up with the max lives and continues that game was still a beast, and even playing conservatively and having so many attempts we only managed to make it to the final boss, The Red Skull, only once.
Let us fast track to about a little under 10 years ago when a co-worker approached me about being interested in buying his Genesis/Sega CD/32X along with a couple dozen games. He was saving up to pay off his upcoming wedding and he gave me a list of everything he had along with prices for everything he wanted going by what he saw off eBay auctions. I did some price researching of my own and made him an offer of around $250-ish for the ‘tower of power’ and about 20 games combined for all three systems. Looking back I accidentally lucked out with that offer because it was only a couple years later when 8/16-bit prices on the used market took a huge jump. I never had a must-have desire for a Sega CD or 32X, but there were always a couple of games I wanted to play on them that I eventually hunted down. I liked the versions of WWF RAW, Doom, Virtua Racer and especially Virtual Fighter the most out of my dozen 32X games. I recall as a then 10 and 11 year old being disgusted by early polygonal console games like Star Fox and Virtua Racer and was more on board with FMV games being the future, but remember being a little taken aback by Virtua Fighter indicating that there may be something to these 3D polygons. The 32X version is a surprisingly faithful version to its arcade counterpart.
I need to dive into my SegaCD games more one of these months. I hunted down all the must own titles for it like the Working Design RPGs, Shining Force CD, enhanced versions of Amazing Spider-Man and Batman Returns and Snatcher which I hope to one day knock off my gaming bucket list. Regrettably now my only SegaCD games I invested a decent amount of time into are WWF Rage in the Cage (essentially Super Wrestlemania but with some FMVs and a bigger roster), Slam City with Scottie Pippen (a abysmal FMV-based street hoops title) and the underrated SegaCD exclusive brawler, Prime. I am a huge Ultraverse comic nut and I ate up Prime on SegaCD since it was the only game released featuring characters from that comic book line before Marvel acquired them and cancelled all their books within a couple years (yes, I am still bitter over it). It is only one player, but Matt and I spent a few attempts taking turns at beating levels until we finally vanquished it. We even had an attempt thwarted when Prime was loading the final boss battle when a flipping blackout halted our progress! As memorable as that moment is I will instead forever associate Prime with its unrivaled and unforgettable opening theme music (seriously….give it a listen!).
I need to give a shoutout to the official handheld Genesis, aka the Nomad! My brother surprised the hell out of me one year with it for a birthday present. My favorite Nomad memory is my brother getting hyped for getting his own version of Genesis Shadowrun and I told him I would come over and bring my Nomad and my version while he played on his television and we could both start off our own new game and exchange tips and hints in a friendly rivalry type of way. I think my brother must have gotten the Genesis version of Shadowrun mixed up with the completely differently designed SNES version because he tried to run around aimlessly and gun down everything which is not how you want to play the Genesis version. We were planning that day out for weeks and I remember being stunned after about 15 minutes when I was starting to sink my teeth back into Shadowrun’s cyberpunk action-RPG brand of awesome when my brother out of nowhere went ‘screw this, let’s play something else!’
As I wind down I want to give many thanks to Sega for keeping the Genesis relevant throughout this century with its gratuitous re-releases of physical and digital collections. I have no idea why, but I keep on buying them for the convenience of having them for the latest system. It started with the Sega Smash Pack on DreamCast seeming like a killer value in 2001 for 12 games for $40. Then a few years later on PS2 I snatched up Sega Genesis Collection which seemed like an even better value with just over 30 games for $30! Then in the 360/PS3 era along came Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection which offered 40 games for $30!! Sega also sold a lot of the games ala carte via each console’s digital storefronts. Then last year we got Sega Genesis Classics on Xbox One/PS4 with 50 games for $30!!! The last several years Sega also has been licensing out to At Games to release their own pre-programmed Genesis mini console with dozens of pre-installed games. I held off on getting those after hearing how awful its emulation and shoddy production quality is, but after hearing how Sega finally decided to manufacture their own Genesis Mini themselves this fall and handed off the emulation duties to the acclaimed emulation studio M2, I could not pre-order fast enough! I have no idea why I keep deep diving down this well, but hats off to Sega for keeping me coming back again and again!
Similarly with my GameBoy flashback piece, I had an unorthodox experience with the Genesis. I was not a hardcore Sonic or Phantasy Star player like the average Genesis owner. If you ask me any day of the week my answer to what my favorite Genesis game is, it could be either The Punisher, Madden NFL ‘97, Shadowrun, Hyperstone Heist, NHL ‘94 or Skitchin’. That is another thing that made the Genesis great was its mammoth library of diverse titles so there was no doubt something for everyone! With that I will put the kibosh on this look back of my favorite moments with the Genesis as I anxiously await for my pre-order of the Genesis Mini to arrive in a few months!
Want more Genesis Love from me in Audio and quasi-video form?
I was looking through my hard drive archives and a decade ago while I was still doing my videogame podcast, On Tap, we did a special 20th anniversary special on the Genesis where my co-hosts and I reminisce about the Genesis. I went ahead and uploaded it on YouTube so if you want even more Genesis takes then click here to give it a listen!
Also recorded throughout 2009 from the On Tap archives was installments from our history of comic book videogames series. In this next episode I uploaded to YouTube is the second part of series where we breakdown every single comic book licensed game on the SNES and Genesis! My co-host Matt and I did thorough research for this episode and played almost nearly every single comic book game from this era in preparation for the episode to give the most up to date research and to see if these games (of which a vast majority are beat-em-ups) still hold up. Click here to give it a listen!

Crystal Glove, Anyone? Pieces of Entertainment History Go Up for Auction
Imagine having the crucifix from “The Exorcist” hanging on your wall. Or Judy Garland’s rehearsal red slipper from “The Wizard of Oz” in your closet. An upcoming auction will put those and many other pieces of Hollywood history within reach of the highest bidder.
On Nov. 3, GWS Auctions will launch its “Legends: Iconic Hollywood and Music Auction,” selling off hundreds of pieces from celebs like Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, and others. If you’re chomping at the bit to bid, you don’t have to wait: You can go online this very minute and make your best offer now! (Some early Christmas shopping, perhaps?)
And despite what you might have thought, the items are not all major budget-busters. Starting bids are as low as $15 for five security-staff T-shirts from a Michael Jackson tour or a “Battlestar Galactica” Viper fighter’s uniform patch. But there are pricier goods as well, of course—like Jackson’s own right-hand crystal glove from the “Bad” tour, starting at $5,000 (below).

So if you’d like to sprinkle a little stardust in your own home or just window-shop, check out some of the items that could be yours below.
Linda Blair signed crucifix from ‘The Exorcist’
Minimum bid: $750
If you’re into creepy memorabilia, it doesn’t get better than this Linda Blair autographed crucifix. It comes with a certificate of authenticity, as well as a postcard saying, “Sweet dreams!” signed by Blair and a snapshot from the film where she’s holding the cross—in fact, it looks like it’s the scene where her head spins in a way it isn’t meant to. Sure, it’s gruesome, but it’s one of the most memorable scenes in this classic horror movie.

GWS Auctions
Judy Garland’s ruby-red rehearsal slipper from ‘The Wizard of Oz’
Minimum bid: $2,500
Worn by Judy Garland while rehearsing, so as not to damage the sparkly ones she wore while filming, this size 5-1/2 has “#2 Judy Garland” written inside, and a black felt pad on the sole to minimize the noise of footsteps on the (plywood) Yellow Brick Road. It’s only the right shoe, but just think how great it would look on your mantel!

Ticket to the last scheduled Beatles concert
Minimum bid: $225
Talk about a conversation starter! A ticket to the Beatles’ last stop on their American tour, in San Francisco’s Candlestick Park, was only $5.50 back in 1966! Frame this, hang it on your wall, and the Fab Four will forever be here, there, and everywhere in your home.

First edition of Playboy magazine
Minimum bid: $1,500
The ultimate addition to any man cave, this December 1953 issue is the much sought-after first Playboy ever. Not only is Marilyn Monroe on the cover, she’s also the centerfold! It comes signed by the pajamaed one himself, and also with signed photos of Hefner and 2011 Playmate of the Year Claire Sinclair.

Marilyn Monroe’s silver-plated salt & pepper shakers
Minimum bid: $150
Speaking of America’s greatest sex symbol, you can spice up your food with salt and pepper from these silver-plated shakers owned by Monroe. They come fully authenticated, and are sure to shake things up around your house.

‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ pizza-throwing tank
Minimum bid: $2,000
For you non-“TMNT” fans out there, the Ninja Turtles’ weapon of choice was a pizza-hurling tank. This one was built by Paramount Pictures and Syyn Labs, and made a splash at the 2014 Comic-Con in San Diego. You can’t drive it, but it really does shoot pizzas up to 30 feet. This would definitely take any “TMNT”-themed birthday party or bar mitzvah to the next level.

‘The Dukes of Hazzard’ 1969 Dodge Charger ‘General Lee’
Minimum bid: $5,000
Another Hollywood vehicle that will charge up your garage is this 1969 Dodge Charger known as “General Lee,” from the 2005 movie based on the TV series “The Dukes of Hazzard.” It’s the “Pre-Cooter’s General Lee,” used in the scenes before the car was wrecked and taken to Cooter’s shop to be restored. It has been intentionally distressed with painted rust and dirt.

Rolling Stones signed ‘Licks’ lithograph by Jeff Koons
Minimum bid: $350
For the rock lover and the art lover, the 19-by-40-inch lithograph by artist Jeff Koons is signed by Keith Richards, Mick Jagger, Charlie Watts, and Ron Wood, plus the artist himself. It features images from the Stones’ 2002-2003 Licks Tour, and is one of 250 that were signed. It comes numbered and authenticated.

A final home … among the stars
Minimum bid: $1,500
Last but not least, if you’re so star-struck that you’d prefer to mingle with celebs long after you’re gone, here’s your chance! You can earmark an urn—for cremated ashes, mind you—at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, CA. There, celebrities including Michael Jackson, Elizabeth Taylor, George Burns, Gracie Allen, W.C. Fields, Sammy Davis Jr., Walt Disney, and many others are resting in peace (hopefully). And imagine, you’ll get to hang with them forever.

Here’s What’s Leaving And Arriving On Netflix In June
Netflix isnt trying to troll you. OK, yeah, its adding Trolls, but for June the streaming service is promising a Ladies Night lineup.
What the heck is a Ladies Night lineup? We were wondering that, too.
According to Netflix, it includes a new season of Orange Is the New Black, movies such as Trolls and 13 Going on 30, and new originals like GLOW and Free Rein.
Alas, Ladies Night lineups can also be cruel.
Casualties leaving Netflix in June include The Little Rascals, Honey, I Shrunk The Kids and, worst of all, D2: The Mighty Ducks.
Thats the one where Coach Bombay (Emilio Estevez) leads Team USA, which somehow consists of most of his players from the Ducks, in the Junior Goodwill Games. Will Team USA triumph over Iceland? And whats up with Bombay getting ice cream with the enemy?
Soon, we may never know. Just remember: Ducks fly together.
Heres whats arriving.
