"Captain, you're way too mean!"

Jiale is laying on the ground, chest heaving and absolutely drenched in sweat. There's a chorus of grumbled agreement from the other team members who are in a similar condition, with the exceptions of Yan Zhiming, who's busy filling glass after glass with his new version of Yan Juice, and Zhuo Zhi himself, who has laid down over one of the benches in a rare display of exhaustion.

"Honestly, Captain, were 50 laps really necessary?" Qiao Chen moans from where he's also laying on the floor, legs carelessly thrown over Baiyang's calves. "We were supposed to be celebrating today!"

When Zhuo Zhi opens one of his eyes to squint at Siyang, all he sees is his dark silhouette surrounded by glaring sunbeams. They form a halo like picture around him, make him look like some sort of divine creature and Zhuo Zhi can only blink at the overwhelming feeling crowding his chest. Divine creature, huh. It is fitting, in a twisted kind of way, given how Siyang is the closest thing to otherworldly Zhuo Zhi has ever seen. He stands straight, shoulders thrown back and arms crossed over his chest in a way that looks imposing and grand all at once. When he speaks, his voice is deep. "Training is still training, and all of you know there's punishment for not sticking to your schedules."

Since the end of 2019, I fell deep into the Tenipuri fandom again thanks to Chinapuri, so my top 3 ships right now are Tenipuri ships, kinda. :P

1. MuZhuo - Mu Siyang (Tezuka) / Zhuo Zhi (Fuji).

2. Fuji Syusuke/Any. I just want long canon divergence/future setting fics.

3. Atobe/Any. Same as above. My favorite fic I’ve found this year is a long Imperial pair fic. I shipped Atobe/Jiroh hard a decade ago, and I’m still pretty partial to it now. It’s pretty hard for me to find fics with Atobe that I like, since I don’t really like it when authors don’t translate Ore-sama lol. And Wapanese in general. :P

Lipstick or Chapstick: Lipstick I guess.

Last song listened to: Right now I’m listening to Natsu no Namae by Arashi, which is one of the songs Nino’s (from Arashi) playing in his radio show. :P

Last film watched: Film? Something I’ve watched from start to end?  Hmmmmmmm. I can’t think of one help lol. Oh! I watched the old Prince of Tennis live action movie with my nephew last month, lol.

"Yu Qing! Let's do it!"

Zhuo Zhi can only watch for a couple of seconds as the team members start throwing themselves at Siyang, hugging each other and jumping in place, before joining them.

Amidst the commotion and being squeezed between his overjoyed team mates, Zhuo Zhi doesn't have much of an opportunity to watch Siyang's expression. When he does, though, his heart feels like it might just burst right out of his chest.

Siyang is smiling. It's not a little smile, not a slight upward curl of his lips, but a full blown grin, teeth and all. It lights up his whole face, makes him look the teenager he is and it's such an unusual occurrence that all Zhuo Zhi is able to do is stare and drink it all in, trying to commit it to memory. He feels warm all over, feels like his insides might just melt and, most of all, he feels complete and he feels happy.

Zhuo Zhi disentangles himself from the mess of limbs and people and hugs, hurries over to his bag which he had left nearby the sofa and pulls his camera out. He will not miss this chance that has been presented to him on a golden plate.

His heart soars with elation and pride and wonder and sheer happiness as the shutter clicks and he manages to capture not just one, but several photos showcasing Siyang grinning and laughing out loud. It's as if he is finally allowing himself to simply feel. It's the first time he sees Siyang like this.

It downs on Zhuo Zhi, in that moment, that he would do anything to keep that smile on Mu Siyang's face. He would do anything to see Mu Siyang as free and content as he is right now.

He would do anything for love, after all.

Zhuo Zhi slowly lowers his camera and watches as his friends continue to jump around their captain, and he is proven wrong when he thinks his chest couldn't get any tighter. It feels like the last missing puzzle piece has finally found it's place and closed a gaping hole in Zhuo Zhi's heart. He feels like he might just outright glow if he gets any happier.

And then. As if in slow motion, Yu Qing's genius sees as Siyang's gaze finds his own.

Siyang's expression freezes for a moment before his grin softens and eases into a gentler smile. His eyes are bright and shine with what Zhuo Zhi's own incredulous eyes bet are tears. His throat feels clogged up all of a sudden and he's helpless to do anything but shakily smile back and hold his camera a little bit tighter in his hands.

Siyang's arm, the one that is draped over Qiao Chen's shoulder, extends itself in Zhuo Zhi's direction, palm open in a clear invitation. Zhuo Zhi exhales a breath he hadn't noticed he was holding, feels like there are actual butterflies inside his stomach, tickling him into accepting once more this affection that only Mu Siyang can make him feel.

Zhuo Zhi raises his camera one last time, shamelessly takes a picture of Siyang just like that and he knows. He knows it'll just turn out to be the most precious photo in his collection. Mu Siyang is and will always be Zhuo Zhi's muse at last.

He puts his camera down, turns on his heels and makes his way to Siyang's still extended hand. There's no place beside Siyang that is free, so he ends up squished between Baiyang and Yan Zhiming, throws his own arms around them.

Yet. It doesn't take much more than a few seconds before he feels long fingers cradling his head and stroking through his locks and Zhuo Zhi immediately knows who they belong to. Somehow, and surprising in a way it shouldn't be after all the time they've been near each other, their gazes find each other once more, locking them together in a world that is solely theirs.

And when Siyang gifts him once more with a private but still large smile, Zhuo Zhi doesn't have to think twice before returning it and leaning back against the hand now lightly resting against his nape.

When he closes his eyes and devotes all his senses to the current moment, where he's being enveloped by all of his friends, his family, Zhuo Zhi is truly and utterly content.

For the first time in 3 months, Zhuo Zhi feels like he's home.

“Why did you force yourself to play when you’re hurt? I’m not the least bit happy, even though you kept your promise!”

The interesting thing about the flashback of Tezuka and Fuji’s first match is how it’s used in totally different places by the anime, manga, and chinapuri. The anime did it first–they used it during a ranking match to tell us why Tezuka and Fuji’s dynamic ended up the way it did. The manga used it during Fuji’s match against Niou, as a source of of motivation for Fuji. Both the anime and manga used this match to create tension about which of Seigaku’s third year aces are better.

Chinapuri, on the other hand, used it purely to emphasize the depth of Tezuka and Fuji’s care for each other. The flashback happens just before the Hyotei matches, in another private match between Tezuka (Mu Siyang) and Fuji (Zhuo Zhi). In this adaptation, it was Fuji who seems to have asked for the match. Fuji who first started to play seriously. Fuji who knows he is one of the few who can push Tezuka to the limits, and does so to see if Tezuka’s arm is really healed, or if he is, once again, charging ahead recklessly for the sake of his friends. Fuji, whom Tezuka can’t lie to, and Fuji who asked Tezuka to look after himself.

Fuji, whom Tezuka named as the person who understands him the most.
