hello hello tumblr!!!! long time no post at all, which like i don't need to be posting like this as if i have a considerably large following (i do not </3) but its fun and i like talking like a microcelebrity because its SILLY and also its my diary i can post however i want within reason and i think i'm sooooooooo within reason. anyways. eventful weekend! my phone hasn't been charging properly so we got it repaired but like a bunch went wrong and it only became semi-functional today. and yet that is not where i'm posting from i'm totally posting from my computer, which i totally could've done in the last what, three, four days??? but the idea of sitting down and opening my silly little laptop to do anything but play youtube while i do my makeup to keep my brain stimulated is a drag. but here i am because i miss this website dearly (´▽`ʃ♡ƪ)

What's a niche detail in the actor AU no one's asked about but you'd like to share
There are so many cool stuff in their story i love your work, art and writing
Thank you! I do have a few details I want to share!
Before he got his show, Wally was dedicated to expanding his talents. Dance being one of them, like ballet, tap, ballroom, waltz and some other I can’t remember rn
Tumblr media
They didn’t have much money so paying for classes wasn’t an option for him. Free classes and volunteering was a good start
Julie likes having the biggest hair possible so she gets hair extensions, since she worked at the hair salon, she never payed full price
Tumblr media
Back in their old neighborhood, Sally and Wally were band kids, their school wasn’t big enough for a marching band so Poppy made them informs just for them. Sally played Trumpet and Wally liked the flute (they weren’t good)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Barnaby still does stand up at night clubs, Howdy loves to go to the gym but isn’t allowed to gain a lot of muscle because it would be weird to see a buff caterpillar in a kids show. Frank and Eddie both have their little hobbies of collecting. Frank has ethically sourced framed bugs and Eddie has his stamp collection.
Poppy has a girlfriend with the name Giselle Coscoroba. She’s a Swan ballet dancer and is the reason Wally was able to learn. She usually spends her time at kids classes when she’s not performing but she was more than happy to teach her girlfriends family for nothing in return
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Oh my god, we’re struggling with money”
Julie:
Tumblr media
Jk she almost never got her extensions because they needed the money, but now she gets them as often as she wants

I humbly request some AGSZ being protective over Cloud 🐣
❤️🍊❤️ of course, my liege!
---------
Cloud, in the middle of a group of troopers: *sniffle, achoo!*
Angeal: *dadgeal.exe activated* Troopers! Halt for today! *Immediately starts preparing soup*
Trooper: Sir, it's noon...
Angeal: Lunchtime.
Trooper: Sir, it's the middle of summer and about a thousand degrees, may I ask why you're preparing soup?
Angeal: Lunchtime.
Trooper: And why there's enough for the entire squad?
Angeal: Lunchtime.
Trooper: And where you got it all?!?!?!
Angeal: L u n c h t I m e.
Cloud, in the background, muttering: 🤦 I got dust in my nose...
------------
Genesis: Cloud! No! *Dives in front of the bullet and takes it full force* C-Cloud...
Cloud: Genesis.
Genesis: Cloud, I bequeath my limited edition with the wing embossment to you, as well as my collection of quills...
Cloud: Genesis Rhapsodos.
Genesis: *cough* Remember me always, with fondness if you can...
Cloud: Genesis Staples Rhapsodos, get your heavy ass off of me, we're in the middle of a paintball war.
Genesis: But...I was shot? For you? This crimson flow staining my coat signifies that I have not long for this world?
Cloud: It's red paint. This is a training exercise. The hell are you doing out here anyway, wandering the desert to channel your inner muse and commune with the goddess?
Genesis: ...
Cloud: ...you are, aren't you?
Genesis: ...
Cloud: And let me guess, you didn't bring any water and are on the verge of hallucinating if you aren't there already?
Genesis: ...
Cloud: 🤦

Cloud: So I need to follow through on the upswing more?
Hojo: Hello, Sephiroth.
Cloud: Who the fuck are you?! Why are you interrupting our conversation??
Sephiroth: Hojo.
Hojo: Well hello, trooper...Strife. Hmm. Interesting. Nibel blood, it seems...very interesting.
Cloud: THIS is Hojo? Gross.
Hojo: *vein popping out, reaches up to slap or touch or just scold Cloud*
Sephiroth: *CRUNCH*
Hojo: WHAT THE FUCK, YOU BROKE MY ARM?!?!
Sephiroth: Oops, thought I saw a pest. Some sort of bug. Bugging.
Hojo: AUGH! MARK MY WORDS, OFFSPRING, THERE WILL BE CONSEQUENCES! AUGH! *turns to go, trips, lands on Cloud's sword*
Cloud: oops. Guess I need more practice.
Hojo: *gurgle*
Cloud: Clearly, my follow through could use some work, hold on. Oops.
Hojo: ☠️
Sephiroth: I always recommend following up with a firaga, like so *FWOOSH*.
Cloud: Ah, I see, thanks Sephiroth!
Sephiroth: Anytime.

hihihi I actually love your writing so much thank you for giving me a hearty meal
could I request dv3 boys with a reader who absolutely LOVES Sanrio like!!! so much!!!!! thank you for your time !!!!
hii thanks anon!! <3 i had an idea just like this so thank you for your request!!!
request | v3 boys x reader that loves everything sanrio
type | react , light hearted , non killing game , fluff , gender neutral reader
Tumblr media
shuichi saihara ♡
often takes nap on your bed that has sanrio plushies everywhere
when he asks you to lend him a pen and later notices that it has a cinnamoroll design all over it
he finds it cute so it's okay lol
he bought you an enamel pin with kuromi on it so you could pin it to your shirts
just a thoughtful little gift
but also because he wanted you to match with the pin he wears from the detective agency he works for hehe
rantaro amami ♡
when he goes on his travels he often finds these little souvenier shops that sell bootleg versions of sanrio merchandise
he buys some of these so you can expand your collection
even though you both know they're fake
it's all for the novelty of it
and bc he likes to see you laugh and smile
"i can tell it's fake because hello kitty has her bow on the wrong ear" he grins while handing a minifigure over to you
K1B0/kiibo ♡
after you showed him what sanrio was, he too, found himself really liking the brand
whenever you invited him over; he sat atop your bed, hugging a plush close to his chest while you two talked
you offered to give him one of your plushies
"really!? i don't want to take something that's yours..."
you insist!
but only because he looks absolutely adorable while holding onto a my melody plush
korekiyo shinguji ♡
finds the difference in your guys' aesthetics fascinating
you two are basically the embodiment of all black s/o x all pink s/o
if there is a holiday rolling around and he can give you a gift you can bet that he'll buy you a shiny piece of jewelry that has a sanrio character on it
"this cutesy look really suits you, my dear." he says while you greet him, wearing a top with pompompurin on it
kaito momota ♡
you two went to a sanrio store once and he found this notebook that had the little twin stars inside of a rocket ship on the front cover
he loved it
you found it funny because he had said:
"this stuff might be a little too childish for me" before walking in
kaito, sweetie, you're really just a big child 😭
gonta gokuhara ♡
likes it when you wear those headbands that look like the top of the character's head (click here for reference if you don't know what i'm talking about)
he likes it bc it reminds him of antennas
also enjoys taking naps on your bed, resting his cute face on the soft blanket you purchased from a sanrio store <3
likes it when you decorate his album full of pictures of bugs with little sanrio character stickers
ryoma hoshi ♡
when you show him all the characters and ask which is his favorite he chooses chococat
DUHH OFC HE WOULD IT'S RYOMA
you also have the all black x all pink dynamic with him
you placed a few sanrio pins onto his jacket and he wore it with pride
everytime he's out and about and sees anything sanrio related he is instantly reminded of you
kokichi ouma ♡
"you really like this stuff, (Y/N)? it's a little too childish don't ya think?"
sanrio has no age limit silly kokichi
luckily for you, however, that was just one of his lies
his favorite thing about you is when you incorporate sanrio character inspired looks into your outfits (ie: all pastel blue and white clothing for cinnamoroll and red bows for hello kitty)
don't take his teasing so personally
he thinks you look super adorable
would definitely write 'kokichi ouma was here' onto your sanrio stationary just to mess with you

my dystopian bugbo au (whole lotta text and rambling below)
Tumblr media
copied directly from discord (with a few cleanups):
i was thinking like. imagine a dystopian bugbo au where like the bug war moved into bugland due to the war expanding and everything is destroyed and in shambles and thomas. being unaware having to stay in the lair for majority of her life and mt bobo being so isolated (i imagine the lair having soundproof walls so he cant hear anything outside) i like to imagine he's like. one of the only people surviving in the whole bug war going on in bugland. so with no hints of bugbo and his friends (they probably moved away to another continent in globe), thomas makes little mecha pals that are based off of said friend buddies. of course they cant rlly do anything since theyre mechanics like lack of personality but u get the jig. shes a bit lonely Ok let her have his fun
anyway conclusion of au thomas learns how to build mechanical beings for company while bugland tears down
i like to think this happened like months (around 3-5) after a familiar foe and thomas had time to relocate herself to mt. bobo and rebuild his lair + everything inside it + collect more materials soo yeah..!!
my au ..! it doesnt have a name yet (i will name it soon though do not worry all)
hope you guys like it!!! :) i had this in my mind for a few days by now LOL
bonus hoppo mech drawing that was requested. like said (to requester) i dont think thomas knows hoppo's presence since he barely sees her or notices her presence often so

Sonadow fan kid but it’s a scrappy little child they find in the dumpster and decide to try to raise with the rest of the cast because A) it would be really funny and B) this kid of mystery origin has taken a liking to them. Said child isn’t really Sonic and Shadows, more like a collective child that is the catalyst for them getting a little gay. It’s a group effort.
Then they find out this child is actually like. A gift from the gods or something. Or the result of some Chaos Emerald fuckery. And team sonic just shrugs and goes ‘well I guess that’s happening’ because who cares. Far from the weirdest possible outcome.
But the whole point is that the kid is raised a little by everyone and completely throws classic nuclear family roles out the window. This found family has no titles, no ‘roles’, nothing. It just is, expanding on the complicated greys of relationships and friendships. They find family in each other, but they aren’t, if you see my vision.
This kid would be named after a kind of coffee, probably be a mystery species, and maybe about 4 years old. Total goober. Selectively mute. Has a thing for bugs. Silly things like that.

@bug-oc... round ONE! Finally! Still counting this as "round one" of transmutations because of the blog round numbers despite the fact that we've already done a round of like two bugs! We... didn't realize how many of these characters were yellow until it was actually time to draw them. It's like we went in with a theme, and then stuck to it. Except for with Holly, who presumably lost the dress code along with their head. Please vote for our cool dune cricket in the handful of hours before this round ends, and thank you!
Individual characters and transmutation notes below cut.
Tumblr media
[...though I briefly considered another form, limiting surface area relative to the size of the entity is crucial for stability in ectoplasmic entities, and I don't currently intend to attempt to form a "swarm", as similar entities often form in the wild - a more simple, and thus more stable, form is better. The energy pack in the subject's possession upon intake appears to be either nearly or fully impossible to reclaim, unfortunately - ghosts can be hard to separate from things with sentimental value, so it's likely a lost cause. I'll continue obsevation...]
Beera by @longeth-dayv. An actual design, this time, rather than our fucking-around-with-maybes! This one, we think, does a lot more for the actual character, though from our understanding of Luigi's Mansion the species choice might be slightly more "generic". We particularly enjoyed tinkering with the wire of the power pack - ghosts and transparent things are VERY fun to draw, and we liked working out where that wire would go in the areas normally hidden by the body. Long, winding lines are very fun to draw sometimes. Hopefully this one works better for you, too!
Tumblr media
[...successful partial isolation of the fungal element proves both that it can be isolated and that transmutation of cordyceps symbiotes may be less of a barrier than previously thought. Results appear similar to "Moka" back in the first year of experiments, where the cordyceps remains untransmuted within the new body - is this a quirk unique to vertebrate physiology? The failed transmutation with Fulminis pulled from a largely bug pool, whilst both successful cordyceps transmutations have been with beasts.]
[The avian physiology doesn't seem to have produced much difference from reptilian, minus some differences in visible fungal growth, but the subjects started with varying quantities of visible fungal growth to begin with, and the magic present in both of the previous round's subjects presents an additional variable... at the very least, I know that the fungus on its own is either resistant or immune to conventional transmutation, considering Mop, though I still need to work out how the host-symbiote synthesis alters things...]
[I'll have to do further testing- I dearly wish that these subjects were easier to get my hands on, but I don't know where I would be able to source them in my own universe, much less if they even exist there, since I'm no longer certain if the time portal event through which I met Holly Holiyxeiul was from the past of my universe, the past of another universe, or the present of somewhere else. Omelette's successful transmutation proves that I can manufacture them, but I won't be certain as to the limits of this until I can collect samples...]
Butterscotch from @w-krajobrazie-zapomnienia. The wings on this took... FOREVER. Deciding to make Butterscotch a bird with individual "charring" on the feathers was an act of monumental hubris, and EASILY the most labor-intensive part of this page. Doing this in watercolor would have been easier, probably. Alas, if we want to be capable of using a marker, we must put effort into marker drawing. At the very least, we think the effect came out fairly well! We like the sort of "scorched" effect that Butterscotch's base design has, and though difficult to recreate in marker form, we think we pulled it off! Hope this works decently well for you.
Tumblr media
[...expanding lizard experiments from the ones found in the former grounds of Five Pebbles to their closest resemblances in the fleshbeasts of our world, I found quite a few points of similarity. Though for obvious reasons, I haven't had the opportunity to observe any specimens of the original species, given that most vertebrate beasts have been extinct since before I was hatched, the underlying biology is similar enough that I could carry through a significant amount of understanding forward.]
[Though majority of traits seem typical for what I can observe from preserved specimens, I am noting some minor divergences - typical for the lizards of RW9089-1, but not, as far as I know, typical for the reptiles that once roamed the wastes. The subject has developed sensory whiskers, narrower than those observed on Black Lizards but seeming to serve a similar function of detecting scent and motion in the air.]
[Additionally, the subject has developed a short coat of setae across the back, with a similar texture to the subject's former ruff - some surface-level similarities have been found to the hair on the pelts of Northern Moths, particularly those found in areas where significant quantities of water make leviathans a dietary staple. Though fur "coats" can be found in RW-9089-1 specimens such as Strawberry Lizards, this trait is, as far as I can tell, unique to this specimen.]
[When following up, I'll want to examine the dorsal frills to be certain that former shape's traits are not overwriting the end shape's traits to too significant of a degree - this is not an unknown trait in salamanders, but I'll need to be certain the structure isn't too similar to insect wing structure, as this many traits carrying over may indicate mid-point speciesation, which will mean any parts harvested will have wholly different traits from the originally sourced...]
Lote from @fallenvoidhere! We went through a handful of design iterations on this, mostly trying to home in on making it clear that it's the character - we sort of underestimated how much blue we'd need to add, but when you're turning into a lizard several times your normal size, it's probably understandable to lose a lot of your accessories…? Since the black on the design, respectively, is mostly accessories, most of these markings are improvised - we based our placement at least partially off of an orca whale, after going through a lot of markings from IRL salamanders. Originally, we planned to make the wing further in to the body a bit more transparent, but… well, as it turns out, we're probably a bit too used to watercolors for our own good, and working with markers is a bit of a different beast. We still think it came out pretty decent!
Tumblr media
[...previously noted properties of fireflies appear to ease the rougher edges of this, though it will still need some refining before it's ready to go to market. A working prototype is better than I've gotten with previous generations of this recipe. I'll have to spend some time going over the readings to work out how to route things on anything that isn't a firefly.]
[With the way that most of these particular transmutations have gone, forming a "chamber" for the light before the light-producing compound itself is produced appears to be key for the survivablity of the subject. I suspect that there's a reason that the gas compound found in the component-introduction artefact hasn't been found in natural beings; despite the multitude of uses it has in charmcraft, mercury tends to be quite toxic with continual exposure, and mercury vapor in particular can be deadly. Another reason to stick to proper PPE..]
Nox from @erijuice! This one's quite a dramatic modification to the body plan. We may have gotten a bit carried away with things here, but... okay listen we will be fully honest with you this is just an elaborate plan on "glow wyrm". We based this one heavily off of tatzulwurms and similar creatures, and from there mostly just went into "having fun with it". The wings might grow in more later, or they might not - this was one of our personal favorite designs to draw, and though we sort of wish we tinkered with the pose a bit more, it's a bit hard to do here without running into issues with... space. Such is the consequence of making a big page o' transmuted bugs.
Tumblr media
[...more experimental brews have their pros and cons, and with this one, it's a bit hard to define which is more present. On the plus side, the resulting form seems stable; lack of mandibles aside, it's standing and walking, and seems in fine health from the readings that I can see. Subject is alert and appears to have either full or very close to full former cognitive capacity, as shown by the multiple attempts at escape via manipulating the lock. It's just that I don't have the slightest clue what it is, or how its biology... works.]
[I intend to collect samples once the transmutation settles enough for properties to solidify. From initial testing, I think that its digestive system may rely partially on the fur-like... appendages, on its ventral side, but it's presently somewhat unclear. Upon coming into contact with some spare biological waste (see: Vessel project, Voidless transmutation attempts), the material appeared to "tangle" in the ventral fur, and was gradually dissolved over the course of about eighteen hours. From what I can gather of the data, this appears to have given off similar readings to a more conventional being having eaten a large meal? Will test with other forms of biological material once I can gather enough material to recreate the end organism if existing subject is lost.]
Yasmine from @darth-moth - and this is one that was very fun to do! The lines in this were very, VERY fun to work with, and we had quite a lot of fun just banging this out! - the design here is, probably fairly obviously, based heavily on Rain World's Rain Deer, as well as the multitude of "creepy deer" type stories that are practically everywhere on the internet. We were tinkering, if vaguely, with the concept of something like a terrestrial filter feeder, or similar - did you know that some whales have begun hunting behavior of pretending to be shelter so that fish will hide in their mouths and, thus, be eaten?
We'd picture that this, whatever it is, wanders places and passively snags prey with the dangling "fur", avoiding any sort of need for energy-intensive chases while keeping itself fed on whatever it walks over. A passive scavenger, probably with not a lot in terms of personal self defense. The vents on the sides, though they might be slightly unclear as is, are just about the only active method of offense - releasing toxic gas or something similar in an attempt to choke out predators. Our greatest desire in life is to design enemies for a soulslike poison swamp and we think that Yasmine is an excellent poison swamp candidate. We hope that this is a normal and usual motivation and ambition to have, we had a lot of fun with it.
Tumblr media
[...uncontrolled crystal growth took over before the transmutation had completed, at roughly 4 days, 8 hours after the initial administration of the formula. I was lucky to be awake at the time - the remote monitor that I imbedded appears to have been consumed by the same phenomenon shortly before my arrival. I can only assume that this is due to pre-existing contamination - if not accounted for, Crystals can react very unpredictably to transmutations, and I didn't account for contamination of this assumed level.]
[Though I've observed this sort of effect before, it's been years since I've experienced a bloom of nearly this extent. What really surprises me is that the subject appears to still be moving, despite the extensive damage to... everything. The head appeared to have been fully destroyed at the time of arrival, and the crystals sprouting from the back have to have gone right through the ganglia - the weave of the transmutation has been fully destroyed, so it can't be sustaining itself on the former body's imprint, so I can only assume that the crystals captured some of the host body's mind during the overgrowth event and are attempting to continue to run the same old patterns of behavior.]
[I am currently unclear on how much of the former bug remains. What scans that I've taken suggest that the new crystals may have linked up with their companion Warden, though to what degree is still unclear. If I want to properly analyze this, I'll need to take it back to the lab. From there... diagnosis work, and maybe trying to work out how poor Snakemouth Den's lab security is, really.]
Holly from @thetroupemaster! Our first transmutation failure of the tournament! Holly, unfortunately, fell victim to poor lab safety - a more open-ended formula intended to gather a form from environmental factors, combined with some unfortunate lab contamination. This actually links in to a few personal headcanons on how Crystals work, though we don't think we've posted them before.
A crystal is a colonial organism, much like coral, storing both data and magical energy. Generally gathering energy from the sun to power itself, it grows so slowly as to be unnoticeable to the bug eye, but it does grow, and when exposed to, say, a charm engineered to allow for rapid change of a physical form, it has the potential to rapidly grow and consume that energy, stopping its growth either when it grows out of magical energy or when the handful of elements present in the original weave to let it change and grow are consumed.
Some people in external kingdoms do this to avoid having to constantly ship in Crystals from Bugaria, but it's not particularly common, as this method of growing Crystals tends to consume things like your other projects, or the lab shielding you probably want to keep intact, or yourself if you have the poor foresight to not properly protect yourself against contamination. Under control conditions, the chances of this happening are nearly zero! Under these conditions... well.
Crystals are very, very good at preserving memories. The rest of Holly's body, on the other hand, might be a bit of a lost cause at this point. You can work in a lab without seeing things, right...?
...yeah, we aren't counting on it, either.
Bonus: for those who scrolled down this far, a quick compilation of labels. As well as, of course, a teaser for what's yet to come.
Tumblr media
[...the most complimentary thing that I can say about Mal, I think, is that Hobbes would get along well with xir. Terrible lab safety protocols. AWFUL cross-contamination protocols. Just looking at this bug's methodology is giving me hives. Venus give me strength. I suspect that any brew that I attempt to use will suffer from enough unknown, uncontrollable outside variables that none of the data I get will be even remotely applicable to any other situation. "Edge case" is generous - I struggle to call this sort of tampering anything less than an utter abomination of science.]
[I will be using one of the more heavily conceptual brews for this. The REMW-19 formula is reasonably stable enough that the weave shouldn't just collapse in on itself, but it has been remarkably poor at producing organisms capable of surviving on their own once the transformation has set enough that they don't have enough former anatomy to "fall back" on - I suspect, currently, that the survival of targets afflicted with the effect I am attempting to recreate relies the support on some sort of internal magic system, and if so, the sheer amount of lingering cross-contamination likely seeped into every ounce of aer chitin might actually boost survivability. I have no positive expectations for this, however.]
In spending ingredients on this, I hope to assemble an encyclopedic list of all of the ways that a charm's effects can go stupidly, horribly wrong. Venus willing, it will not double as a list of ways that my lab can be destroyed, or a list of ways that tampering with Charmcraft can go wrong. I have had enough recent trouble with repairing the lab's seals after the Vessel experiments - I have no particular desire to replace anything else now.]

I'm usually pretty open about everything - kink, smut, sex, morality, etc. including, I hope, mental health. But I don't know that I talk about it often as I could.
I'm not obligated to share things about myself. I choose to - I'm not obligated to write, draw, or even answer asks - I do these things because I find enjoyment in them, and I personally find extra enjoyment by creating a space that's comfortable for more than just me.
Today, is a bad day. I get them - I talk about getting them I know, I'm pretty open with "don't panic, I'm just taking a day away." or lower keyed, or some such.
One of the reasons I'm like that is because about three years ago I lost an exceptionally dear friend.
A force of nature.
A... objectively good person, who was, at the time of his passing about a year younger than I was.
Far too young. Here one moment, gone the next.
Today is hard. The A/C is out, it's hot outside, there's three fans in the room and one in the window trying desperately to keep things cool and comfortable enough. Funnily enough my day job, that good old 9-5 is the least stressful thing I'm dealing with.
I passed out from the stress a bit ago. Not like, blacked out and hit the floor, but like, one minute I'm eating on the couch, the next it's 2 hours later and my throat hurts because I was leaned back snoring like some old geezer conked out for an afternoon nap.
Which was more stress - I missed waking up my spouse, missed the time I could've spent doing other things, missed - well.
It's not yet a good day.
Honestly, I'm not sure what I mean with this post. I'll be okay, I always am. I guess I wanted to let people know, as much as I appreciate that y'all look up to me, please do not ever make the mistake of thinking I'm, I don't know, endlessly in control, I guess.
I struggle, say dumb shit, make mistakes, have pretty severe panic attacks, am 100% depressed, am egregiously terrified of bugs (I cannot tell you how much I loathe the fact that the window is open right now), and certainly have plenty of times, moments... days - weeks, every now and again - where it's not ideal.
Being true to myself in the face of that is, probably, kind of cool. I can concede that much.
Whatever my point for this post was, in closing I'll say - you're not alone. You're 100% worth it. It's so much bullshit to hear "it does get better" because it does, but it's never fast enough I swear. It's okay to have it down pat and then just not. Mistakes are a part of life you'll be making them in your 70s, but so long as you can take something from learn - a lesson learned, a capacity expanded, an understanding that some mistakes will be things you repeat, despite your best laid plans, and that's okay.
I love you - as a friend, as an acquaintance, as a fellow member of the wildly variable and frustratingly complicated collective known as humans, and maybe even as something more.
I'm glad you're here.

• Allra is heavily influenced and based around Norse mythology, although all characters and lands are original, they are inspired by the norse mythos and the norse mythos are even implemented into the world’s history somewhat
• Some stories will be multiple parts and others will be just short stories involving random characters within the world and some will have a bigger impact then others
✩About my WIPS✩
Prince Killer:
• Genre: Fantasy & Adventure
• Warnings: Murder, hints of emotionally abusive family (will update if the list expands)
• Tropes: Magic, found family, retelling with a twist, major angst, royalty, fighting against prophecy & destiny, morally grey MC, family rivalry, major symbolism
• Main & Side Characters: Locke Ambrose, Caradoc Ambrose, Kailen Skaesun, Elwin Ambrose, Toke Ambrose (There’s more but those 5 are really the ones that need to be noted)
• Summary: In a world that was reborn after the events of Ragnorak, history seems to repeats itself as the King of Konunheim hears word from one of his trusted prophesiers that his son, Caradoc, will die by another’s hand by a simple arrow made from a harmless plant and if this were to occur the world may break out into another war and destroy itself. Assuming his last born, Locke, may be the killer due to his certain ways and dislike of his brother, he demands for his punishment and a way to keep Caradoc safe. While the other nine courts are splitting apart over the idea of a apocalyptic war, the two brothers now have to find a way for one of them to be pardoned and the other to not die while also preventing a war, and maybe even find out if Locke actually has intentions to kill his brother and follow through with prophecy or keep Caradoc safe…
(other works are in progress, I will update this list as I work on them more)

you know it might be unpopular but i kind of disagree with the fandom opinion that Voyager mishandled the Borg. tng's portrayal of the Borg as a mass unknowable and undefeatable entity – a Collective that assimilates by force and eliminates individuality as a natural and perfect opposition to the Federation that expands through peace and is endlessly multicultural (at least allegedly) – is very good. there's a reason that Best of Both Worlds is still regarded as one of the best tng episodes. but the thing about villains that function through fear and the unknowability is that every time you meet them they become less scary and less interesting. (see what happened with the Weeping Angels in Doctor Who as an example.)
if the shows continued with the same portrayal of the Borg then it would have gotten very old very very quickly with a limited number of possible stories. but then if Star Trek ignored the Borg entirely after their few tng episodes it would have felt unrealistic – there's this all powerful alien race that's invaded half the galaxy and can easily overpower the Federation and we're just... never gonna bring them up again? that's not really gonna fly.
i actually think that Voyager's approach to the Borg is refreshing. we're not going to focus on them as the terrifying unknown entity, we're going to focus on their personal effects mostly through Seven. i don't think Voyager ever really treated the Borg as the generic villain because the Borg were presented on an interpersonal level and opened up the box for more stories instead of just constantly rehashing Q Who and Best of Both Worlds. Voyager followed up on tng's question (introduced in I, Borg) of "what if a Borg was separated from the Collective?" and continued to ask things like: "is it ethical to forcibly remove someone from the Collective against their will?" "how is a collective of humans better than the Collective of Borg?" "can a person ever fully lose their humanity?" "if humanity is lost then can it ever be regained?" "can an individual be responsible for deaths dealt by a collective group?" "if they are responsible then how do they live with themselves? how do they atone for atrocities they never chose to commit?" "is prejudice against the Borg just a reflection of our fear of loss of control and humanity?" "what even is humanity?"
i'm not saying voyager's (and other post tng shows) portrayal of the Borg was great in every way. it definitely wasn't. (i'm still like. mildly baffled by the idea of the Borg Queen and how she's written. there are definitely episodes that veer too much into the action flick genre. and even as much as i love Seven there's definitely an oversaturation of her episodes compared to the rest of the cast in later seasons.) but idk i've heard a lot of people say that Voyager ruined the Borg but from my perspective they just took a character based approach to exploring them rather than a science fiction based approach. some people might prefer one to the other but i think a lot of people missed that Voyager was never trying to replicate the Borg we see in early tng. yes they make them a bit toothless in comparison but that's because we're exploring them through the lens of personhood. it's a feature not a bug imo.

sorry if this is a silly question or if I've sent it to the wrong blog & ofc you don't have to answer if it's too personal. But you are an entomologist so I figured I'd ask - do you mind saying what exactly you do ? you don't have to say where ofc but I'm in school for entomology and I have a vague idea of what I'd like to do but also the opportunities out there are so broad and different and confusing that I figured I'd ask real people who actually do the stuff about it. Hope you're having a nice day/night !
no worries. i tend to be a little bit cagey about my exact job, but i've talked about it a number of times both on this and my more bug-focused account. the short version is that i work in a lab that monitors for and identifies potential exotic insect pests. we do some more focused projects in detecting and eliminating specific targets that are known to be extremely economically/ecologically damaging, and also a lot of general insect trapping in areas of interest to passively monitor for things that shouldn't be where they are. there are both federal and state-level agencies that do this, which have their respective pros and cons, as well as the more general pros and cons of working for the government. i think some entomology museums may also occasionally contract out this kind of work to pay their bills.
the nice thing is that while much of the year is busy keeping up with the thousands of trap samples coming in from around the state and country, the off-season is usually pretty chill and i have time to work on personal projects around the lab. i tend to set aside a lot of cool by-catch from the samples i process and when i have free time i work on curating and identifying those specimens. for example i spent a chunk of this last fall working on a massive backlog of unidentified native bee specimens that i'd set aside from flight trap samples over the previous couple years and expanded my lab's curated bee collection by thousands of specimens and probably close to a hundred species, maybe more. i've also recently started more seriously dipping my toes into weevil identification which is an absolute nightmare but i have so many cool little beasts that i want to put labels on that it's worth the pain.
anyway i hope that answered your question more or less! i'm biased of course but i think being an entomologist is the best job in the world. i am a world-class slacker and shirker and have dedicated much of my life to doing as little work as possible at all times but in my current position i have to constantly restrain myself from putting in unpaid overtime most weeks because i just get too obsessed with whatever little project i'm fiddling with at the moment.

curious as to how you feel about slime rancher's gameplay as a whole, if you wanna talk about it
oh boy.
slime rancher has a unique chaos-focused gameplay design unlike any other game ive played while also going for a chill farming vibe. after years of playing the first game, and just a handful of hours in the second.. i believe the gameplay loop and level design to be the reason I havent played the series in recent years.
everything in slime rancher is random.
crop yield, crop grow time, slime spawns, slimes feeding themselves, everything. and this is the core, foundational game design philosophy they’ve dedicated themselves to. and they’ve doubled down on the randomness in sr2.
shop stock is random every day. unlocking blueprints come unpredictably. resource nodes are randomly scattered about. weather, which can dictate slime AND material spawning, is 100% random. not even to what weather happens, but what DEGREE the weather is.
this much random chance has made the series appeal to me less and less with time. i love to strategize beyond all else in a farming game, and slime rancher’s “chill chaos” just doesnt accommodate my style of gameplay anymore. i want resource extractors. i want to have a reliable income in terms of resources so i can do all the incredible decorating they’ve added.. but i dont think anything could get me to play hundreds of hours of sr2 to collect resources by hand at the mercy of rng. i did this with gilded gingers for fun. i never wanted to do that for EVERYTHING.
now, to look at sr2’s gameplay and design decisions more closely..
slimes live in corrals. boxes. this is one thing i thought could have always been expanded on. enclosures are as simple as ever, essentially what they always were right from sr1 beta. slimes being fed are still dictated by the chance of food hitting their mouths at the right angle, right time, with the slime in the right mood. it just doesnt work reliably, leading to slime chaos despite any player’s best efforts. the devs seem to see this as part of the game, and not something that could be revolutionized or improved upon. the ranch expansions are as simple as ever. we can decorate them though…! i guess…! i wish there was more thought and love put into the ranching. more involved slime care. i had a lot of ideas i never drew down for how things could change..
moving on to the level design itself, the areas in sr2 feel more confusing than ever for me to navigate. and ive stubbornly believed that is not on me. the islands are focused on experiencing beauty and wonder, but not really designed with normal gameplay quirks that can help players navigate without even knowing they’re being helped. like landmarks. sr2 has the volcano, split tree and the conservatory. these three things are actually pretty difficult to spot in most locations, which really fucking sucks. if you’re lost on the sr2 map, they really just want you to open the map or wander. another thing that has always bugged me a TON, is in the rainbow fields there is a fucking death drop into water that looks like youre walking home. like…. LIKE???? another thing that feels especially controversial to point out is how the super-saturated aesthetic of every area can make an area feel samey, confusing even. rainbow fields have rainbows everywhere. imo, you could have gone for that idea while having brightly coloured trees, rocks, grass, that are DIFFERENT COLOURS. FOR CONTRAST. pick bright colours that complement eachother and sculpt the world with it. when i think of rainbow fields, i honestly can only imagine the purply blue grass and moss on grey stones…
it feels as though sr2 was all about pushing the teams creative and aesthetic abilities with a huge sacrifice to regular gameplay design. a slime rancher sequel was an opportunity to build anew from the ground up and address huge issues with 1’s unreliability due to physics and loading zones, etc. the full game isnt out yet so i cant speak on whether they’ll ever take these kinds of issues into consideration in future patches.
anyway at the end of the day, for a game so focused on aesthetic, slime rancher 2 doesnt even have properly textured tangle largos. I wont bother to look or photograph them all myself because tangles are only from rare weather. but next time you’re in game, check out that flat batty tangle flower for yourself. until that flower gets a proper texture patch i dont really have much else to say.

Six Sentence (ish) Saturday
left the military kink/now boot blacking fic for like a week--re read it and restructured it this morning--and no longer hate it and everything i worte...except now it's definitely not a pwp anymore and it's going to be like 15k (when will i learn) 🤷‍♂️
As he eats, Buck watches Tommy not entirely unlike how he used to watch the bugs he collected in jars as a kid. Tommy’s fully engrossed in what he’s doing with his hands, his head bobbing in sync with the music, in his element. The Grateful Dead wasn’t Buck’s favorite of Tommy’s collection, but at least it was better than listening to Dave Mathew’s band for the hundredth time.  He’s moved onto rubbing conditioner into the boots with his palms and buffing it out with a rag. Tommy works the leather with the same firm, sure touch as he does Buck’s skin. “How long have you been at that?” Buck asks when he can’t hold his questions back any longer.  “Longer than I’d like to admit.” Tommy sighs. “Time sort of slipped by.” Buck hums and reaches for the glass Tommy had poured for him. “They look good to me.” Tommy offers an unsatisfied grunt. They trade mindless chit chat as Tommy finishes conditioning his boot. His shift had been relatively uneventful, a cluster of minor injuries and a kitchen fire, punctuated by someone who wanted free batteries and a fire alarm reinstall. At least there hadn’t been any overtime. Buck’s knee jigs as he runs through it all. There’s something calming about watching Tommy work, whether it’s with cars, or helicopters, or Buck guesses, leather. Buck’s eyes track the solid deftness of his hands and the serious line of his brow. A sureness lives in every decision Tommy makes that often Buck feels like he’s flounders after. It makes him want to seep into Tommy’s cracks and expand and take up room until he’s the grease that slicks the cogs. As always, he wants to be useful, even when he’s not sure how. Tommy drops the boots onto the floor unceremoniously, snapping Buck out of his rambling. He doesn’t even know what he’d been saying at the end there. Something about the man with the fork in his hand and the very guilty looking girlfriend.   “Were you the one who put my old military stuff in the bedroom?” Tommy asks, wrenching a dogleg in the conversation.  Buck doesn’t know who else would have, “Yeah, I didn’t want you to lose track of it again.” Tommy eyes him like he’s sizing Buck up, taking in all the stray parts: the twitch of his muscles, his unfocused eyes, the flush in his cheeks, and cobbling them into something comprehensible. Buck can feel his pulse thrum under his skin, that look always comes before something thrilling.  Tommy lifts a brow. A practiced move that works on Buck every time. “You want to help me with this?”
(this definitely slipped back from nearly finished to wip so the stuff above is still rough ^)
