#not in so few words but I mean#she's been doing this very stupid thing for the last five years and I get old habits die hard#but the thing she was doing became irrelevant about... 5 years ago lol#she didn't want the cats to get wet after their spay/neuter surgeries#which okay fine dry out the tub after just in case#but now she uses the same damp towel every time we shower to line the tub after to make sure the cats don't get wet still#and it's just like#do you not see the active mildew colonies??? do you just ignore them?????#I scrubbed the tub today because I felt really uncomfortable standing in the yuck trying to dye my hair#and if she thinks I'm putting anything back down in that tub she's sadly and sorely wrong#she needs therapy

This is Barry Bluejeans. As of noon today, he is neutered and vaccinated against FIV, FELV, and Rabies. He is the most social cat I have ever trapped. Most strays I TNR are feral and get re-released where they came from; this little duder took a week to warm up to me outside and then last night straight up walked into our house and set up shop on the cat tree in my studio. As of midnight on September 25, he has discovered laps and gives them an 8/10 so far.
If you are in the Austin area and looking to adopt a wonderful young, affectionate, talkative cat, please HMU in an Ask (not Direct Messages; they don't load properly for some reason). He's approximately 1YO, 10lbs, and friendly with other cats. Medium-short coat and fluffy tail, solid build. He's a honk-squeaker. Talks a lot when nervous but calms down fast. Gives headbutts on your forehead, loves to cuddle. Got a few videos of him over on my Bsky: https://bsky.app/profile/bigbigtruck.bsky.social/post/3l4ucrh4i6x2g

The floor level beast needs surgery!
The vet has finally decided - and I agree - that it is time for my stinky old man Fig to have surgery. He needs his bad eye removed, and it has got significantly worse.
The quote for this is £1,886!
We brought him home at the end of October 2022 after he was picked up as a stray by a local rescue. No microchip and not neutered, he was probably the father of many litters, considering his estimated age is 10+. He's a big boy and a former bruiser, considering all of his scars.
The highest he ever seems to jump is the bed (although this is more of a climb) and he has never been a lap cat, but he loves to lay close to you. His best trick is sitting on his back legs, waving a paw when he wants treats. He *really* likes his treats!
These days, he is a spoilt baby, going between his boxes in the living room and the bed. Throwing cat litter across the floor every chance he gets.
He is completely blind in his left eye, and the lens is detached. It has also developed a film that has only got worse this past month. At the last checkup, the vet confirmed that it had swollen further.
The surgeries will happen. When we set out to get a cat, we initially went looking for an older one to give it the best remaining years we could.
Any help with the cost of Fig's surgery is greatly appreciated.

Gary and Gigi from Cats of Oceanside in Oceanside, California

Meet Gary and Gigi: Bonded Sibling Duo Looking for Their Forever Home
At Cats of Oceanside, we believe that every cat deserves a loving home. Today, we're excited to introduce you to two very special kittens: Gary and Gigi. These bonded siblings are ready to bring double the love and joy to their forever family.
Gary: The Charismatic Gentleman Gary is a strikingly handsome boy with bold, symmetrical markings that catch your eye immediately. From the moment we met him, Gary's confident nature and excellent eye contact stole our hearts. He quickly made friends with everyone in the house and is always the first to greet you at the door. Gary loves being in the center of all household activities, ensuring he never misses a moment of fun.
This cool cat is eager to connect with other animals and would thrive in a home with resident pets. His affectionate and social nature makes him a great fit for families, including those with respectful children. Gary will do best with a loving owner who appreciates his affectionate demeanor and cool-boy charm.
Gigi: The Petite Princess Gigi is the only female in the litter. She is a petite little grey/blue kitten with the sweetest round face and a cute, befuddled expression. She loves running around with her brother Gary and doesn't miss a mealtime but when it's time to rest, she's looking for your lap. Don't sit down unless you want Gigi to join you.
Gigi was the first kitten to bond with me, eager to get close before any of her siblings. She was also one of the kittens I easily picked up by hand on trapping day. Gigi is chill, calm, independent, and very loving. She's a beautiful little cat who will grow up to be a glamorous companion. She may take a few weeks to warm up in her new home, but the moment she does, you will have a constant companion. (She's literally stepping on my keyboard as I write this)!
Gigi is a gem who needs a relaxed, gentle owner looking for a sweet companion kitty.
Their Rescue Story: On May 2, 2024, Cats of Oceanside was contacted by a fellow rescuer in San Diego to help trap a mama cat and her kittens living under a house in the valley of Oceanside. With the homeowner's support, we set traps and successfully brought Mama cat and her kittens to safety. Mama was spayed and returned to the caring homeowner, while her four beautiful kittens, including Gary and Gigi, adjusted to life at our rescue.
Initially a bit wary of humans, it didn't take long for Gary and Gigi to reveal their ultra-sweet and playful personalities. These kittens are now healthy, happy, and ready for their next adventure in a loving forever home. They have received their first round of vaccines. Their spay/neuter is scheduled for July 26.
Adopt Gary and Gigi: If you're looking for a pair of loving, playful, and affectionate kittens, Gary and Gigi are the perfect match. They are inseparable and need to be adopted together to continue their journey as the dynamic duo they've always been. By adopting these two sweethearts, you'll be bringing double the love, joy, and companionship into your home.

How have you been? Are you taking care of yourself and is the kitties doing okay and Haru how is the sweetie after the surgery?
Throughout the month of October while doubling my content output and going from being creatively idle to full speed ahead, I was going through the onboarding process of my ADHD medication. Half of the month was spent getting horribly tired in the afternoons. The other half was spent feeling gross as I tried to figure out how much I needed to eat with my food and adjusting to the final dosage.
Last week, for what may be the first time in my adult life, I was operating at what I can only assume was somewhere near 100% of what a neurotypical person feels like. I've cried about it, had to learn how to slow down because I'm used to the vehicle that is my brain not actually GOING when I put my foot on the gas, and have felt downright incredible.
I wrote my psychiatrist a message thanking her for being such a professional and helping me on this path, because I am approaching what I had assumed "best case scenario" would look like for me. I don't even know what's possible for me as I settle into my new normal. It's overwhelming in a positive way.
I feel like I have super powers. I'm able to just...do stuff. I begin my day and I just go. I'm fed, medicated, and ready to start being productive at 9am and I begin. I'm able to accomplish far more than the bare minimum and even have to tell myself to take time to do things that aren't strictly work.
I love writing again, and I was robbed of that nearly a decade ago. My beloved hobby became work, and while I've written things that I adore, I only rarely feel the magic I used to feel when I could write ~10k words in a day. INDEFINITELY!!!! I have written hundreds of thousands of words in my lifetime and I lost the ability to do what I loved. At a time in my life when I was desperate to find something that was meant for me, something I was good at, I lost it.
I thought I had simply fallen out of love. I thought my childish ambitions of being a writer were bled from me on the path to being a "real adult" and life had escorted me along the way, away from that passion.
I didn't know I was fighting against myself so much for so long. Being able to become YuuriVoice and create and find that outlet again was amazing for me and reminded me of what it used to feel like, but this whole time I've had to brute force my way through mental hurdles. I am proud of what I've accomplished to this point, knowing what challenges I've faced and battled along the way.
How do I feel? I feel like the me from a decade ago and the me of today bridged a rift so vast that I thought I'd never say hello to that part of me again, and now I'm whole. I feel whole. I'm no longer masquerading around as a cheap imitation of who I could have been.
So yeah, I'd say I'm doing well! So are the cats. Haru handled his neutering perfectly and is a happy, healthy boy. Aside from that, I've been consistently in the gym, trying to stick to my diet goals, and am the happiest, healthiest version of myself I've been in a long time!
If you've enjoyed the recent entries in Lost & Found, they've all be made while I've been feeling this good. So if that's a sign of things to come, I think we're about to remind people just how fuckin' hard we can go around these parts.

Hey everyone, we know a 17 year old cat that recently gave birth to 6 kittens. As of this writing, 3 of those kittens have passed, and we need to make sure the other 3 stay living. The three that are still alive are the grey one, the tortie, and the orange one. The momma cat has been rejecting the babies as of recently, and ate one today, so we can't rely on her to take care of them anymore, and why we are shifting to emergency mode.
We do not have the funds ourselves to be able to spay and neuter them, and get their vaccines. They are about 7 weeks old, and it'll be a few more weeks before we can get them vetted, but it's gotten serious now so my partner and I would like to ask for help, and a thank you in advance for reading this, even.
We're also taking care of a baby bird that was recently blown out of her nest in a storm, so know that your donations will also go towards feeding and taking care of her too. Here's a before and after 10 days of caring for her.
Cashapp / Venmo - @spookyteal
Please reblog; we need all the help we can get, and any little bit helps immensely. I'm working as much as I can but the kittens will be expensive, and we need supplies for our own pets as well as the babies. Thank you.

Latte and Karamel left our house today! They're off to their golden basket or forever home or whatever the jargon for it is where you're at.
That leaves Macchiato and Kaneel. There's a lot of people interested apparently but not a lot of them get through the organisation's filter man. One did, and was set to meet them today, but she cancelled last minute. Don't know why.
Then there's mum.
Rare pic of her out. Maybe she'll get more social as the kittens move out. The org is also going to put her on the adoption page. Other half of the org (the org is three people) was pushing us to keep her, but that's not what we signed up for. Also because the org's idea of keeping her was installing cat flaps everywhere and also a catio, which isn't feasible. I'd be up to having her in the garden and feeding her, even having a little insulated garden box, but that's about my limit. Hopefully she'll get picked up by a family that doesn't have a toddler that scares her, where she can get the time to trust humans.
But first, I need to catch her so she can be neutered.

Today has been an absolutely horrible day for me. Migraine, anxiety attack, crying, mentally Not Okay... so my brain coped with "but what if Ghost is so good at sneaking around because he can turn into a cat?" Obviously Price knows about it because he has those terrifying mom superpowers (Did you so much as think something bad? Price Knows.). Ghost is afraid of what would happen if he tried to keep it from him. Gaz knows because he is the favorite child. JK, he knows because he saw a cat sneaking around base and was going to TNR it. Ghost didn’t want to get neutered so he had to tell him. Now it’s a game (”It’s training”, sure it is Ghost) Soap finds out last because Ghost is a greedy greedy man and would go on “leave” when in reality he spent a few days as a cat following Soap around and curling up in his lap and bed. After Soap finds out he’s embarrassed (”I TOLD HIM I THOUGHT HE WAS HOT, FUCK FUCK FUCK”) but he gets over it quick when he gets human!Ghost in his bed and cat!Ghost curled up on his chest purring after the really bad nightmares that make it hard to handle human contact.

Getting to know someone better
Thanks for the tag @ktredshoes!
Last song: Don't Go to the Woods by the Decemberists
Favorite color: hunter green
Currently watching: Star Trek Voyager reruns. I also just finished The Good Lord Bird, which was an interesting take on John Brown
Last movie: First Cow- watched it on a friend's recommendation and it was very good!
Sweet/savory/spicy: a toss up between sweet and savory, but I'm giving it to savory because one of the saddest things about getting older is that some of my favorite things are now too sweet, which is cruel beyond words
Current obsession: Aside from polar exploration (which is less of an obsession and more of a lifestyle at this point), I am obsessed with the 588th Night Bomber Regiment, a Soviet all female aviation regiment that fought during WWII. I've been doing a lot of genealogy research lately, and I'm also volunteering with Women for Harris-Walz. Mostly, though, I'm close enough to my upcoming trip to Europe that it consumes 75% of my thoughts on any given day. I'm making a spreadsheet of friends to meet up with, museums to visit, and bookstores and perfume shops that will bankrupt me!
Last thing I searched: the address for the surgery center where my cat got neutered earlier today, but that's boring, so I will also tell you some things that I'm currently researching for Baby's First Big Writing Project That May or May Not Pan Out: the history of the US Marine Reserves in WWI, Appalachian folklore, the Christian Science movement, nativism and discrimination against German-Americans in the years leading up to WWI, spiritualism and astrology in the 1920's, and buffalo head nickels.
Absolutely no pressure tagging @i-have-loved-you-too-much, @overlysweetcoffee, @johnnystorrm, and @sastrugie, as well as anyone else who wants to play!

Making this post for a little fun, if @whatcoloristhatcat is up for it. 👋 Over the last two years, my mom has gone from having two cats to twelve after a series of events involving pregnant strays and her children moving in and out of the house.
Today I'd like to share with you all twelve of them! I'm going to do my best to put in accurate alt text that doesn't use specific cat color terms I know so anyone reading through can get to those at the end if @whatcoloristhatcat interacts.
First, Khione the winter king and the sisters Chestnut and Hazel.
These are the ones whose presence was planned. The sisters are about three or four years older than Khione.
NEXT we have the mother Reece's, named for the candy brand, who wandered in pregnant af around the time Khione was neutered. Because of similarities between Khione and one of her kittens, we think that maybe something happened there..? It's technically possible..? But we don't know..?
I've tried to get my mom to train her to be an indoor cat, but she becomes a menace to the other cats when she isn't let outside, so she still gets to roam. Thankfully, all the others are happy indoor kitties.
Next up: The kittens that popped out of Reece's. When I first saw a picture before I was able to meet them and bond with them, I saw there was a light grey one and immediately named her Silver and asked my mom to keep her until I'm able to provide a home for her. 🥺 Her siblings are Bubbles, Tigger, and Three.
(Bit I don't have a picture of: Tigger, the big guy in the third and fourth pic, has a big splotch of white on his belly. You can kiiinda see it in the fourth pic, but not really.)
Finally, I only have the one picture of the second stray and her triplets, but they have grown up quite a bit since then. I haven't been able to meet them but I hear they're all lovely. Here are Peanut and her kittens Pumpkin, Nutmeg, and Chopin.

Hello fren :D. How are the baby kittens doing? Well, them and their moms (and that one uncle just chilling lol) also how are you? Have a good day! ( I hope you don't mind me always saying that lol, it's sort of a habit xD)
Hi! Sorry for the kitten update delay, it's been busy around here, especially since the baby babies are finally getting big enough to do, well, anything. xD
Maraly's kittens are two weeks old! They're getting so big and fluffy, they can hear and their eyes are all open now! They have started clumsily trying to play with each other, clean themselves, and toddle around. They're absolutely precious and they look like baby Ewoks.
^That is Gray, the firstborn and, apparently, first at everything! She (pretty sure it's a girl) was not only the first kitten born, but the first to open her eyes and (along with her sibling, Four) the first to start toddling! She also might be the first kitten to genuinely start to like me. xD
And this^ is one of the little black ones. All Maraly's babies are over 11 ounces now! Gray, as of today, was 12!
Leeli's babies are also doing well, though we've had to keep a closer eye on them. The littler ones sometimes struggle to gain weight with their three bigger, fightsy siblings! I've been taking away the three biggest ones when I weigh them and putting them on a blanket and/or heating pad outside Leeli's box (still in her pen, she can hear them and see them if she sits up) and letting the three smaller ones eat alone for a bit before putting the bigger three back to help them.
Leeli's babies have started to open their eyes too! This is one of the little ones, it's hard to tell them apart (sometimes the only way to do it is by their weight) but I think this is the runt!
^those three are from last week when Leeli's were littler, but they're so stinkin' cute I couldn't not include them. <3
Maraly and Leeli are doing well! They are very good, VERY attentive mamas! Maraly RUNS to check on either litter of babies if she hears them cry and has started the classic mama cat thing of snatching the baby back and carrying it to safety if she feels it's in distress. Which can be difficult when I'm weighing the babies. xD Leeli somehow looks better after giving birth to and feeding six kittens than she did on the streets, which is a testament to the care and love we've been giving her.
(skip next paragraph if you're sensitive to animal death)
Leeli did have a seventh kitten that was stillborn. It was not born alive, because it had never moved from the fetal position. Leeli took SUCH good care of it, not only had it been thoroughly cleaned, but my mom said that when she found it in the morning the kitten was tucked in with the others and it was warm. So it was simply not meant to make it.
*end skip*
OH and KALMAR! Kalmar is neutered now!!!! So he shall stay the sweetest, happiest little guy. He was traumatized by going to the vet for a few days, but he's recovered from that and he's back to being his happy, purry self. <3
Alright, well, that's enough for now, I think. Here's a picture of Leeli and her littles snuggling from the other night:
And I hope you have a good day too!

Some KitKat backstory for everyone, because this is nuts:
I've been feeding her mama Honey since October or so 2023. She was a full feral at first, but she's since been downgraded to "stray." I've been trying to trap and neuter this cat since last year but couldn't because my apartment managers suck and keep interfering. Thanks, guys.
So March 13th, Honey gives birth in a box right by my front door. Awesome! I now have a chance to get her fixed as soon as the kittens are weaned AND prevent the kittens from being feral strays. Excellent. I have a plan.
On April 7th, the day after my eldest kitty, my Demon Spawn, crossed the Rainbow Bridge, the kittens went missing. I heard Honey screaming and ran outside and saw the box there but all five kittens gone. Cue me throwing a fit and doing what I could, but nothing came of it. They were good and gone.
I waited to see if anyone was going to do the Right Thing and return them. Then I went ahead and trapped Honey, taking her to get fixed before she could go back into heat. At least ONE thing was accomplished. The kittens' fate remained unknown.
On April 30th, my landlord calls and we have the strangest conversation. She says that a kitten was found with a busted leg and asks if I could take care of her, as I've apparently obtained a solid Cat Minion reputation. I point out I have the max cats per my lease, and I'm told they're willing to waive it to get the kitten care. I tell them that I'm out of town and will be back the next day. I tell them to call my vet, provide the number, and to have the kitten boarded at the vet. I would pick up the kitten the next day.
The landlord said something else, too, something very random: that the mama cat's kittens hadn't been stolen and that she had just relocated them. Wtf? Okay, that sounded like pure bullshit, but I was in the middle of driving many, many miles and was distracted by the kitten, so I didn't press.
On May 1st, I call my vet. The landlord had never contacted them. I call the landlord. I'm told that it was too late to take the kitten to the vet so they found another resident to take the kitten instead.
On May 8th, Honey strolls up to my door with her five kittens in tow, leading to where we are today. Based on her behavior since then, she had obviously found them pretty recently. At the time, I was too distracted getting the kitten taken care of to connect all of it to the landlord phone call.
So how much did the landlord know about the initial kitten theft? Was there an actual resident who took the kitten or were they bullshitting about that? I'm confident that this kitten is the same one they were talking about considering the description of the injury.
I doubt I'll ever get the full story, but what I do have of it is weird as hell. I wish everything would cooperate so I could get the hell out of here and take my kitties -- and Honey -- with me.

The 'not our cat' is now 'our cat'...
Whiskey on Ice watching the vet do her work. He is now microchipped and registered, started his vaccination schedule and is booked in to be neutered in two weeks (smack bang between vaccines today and those in 4 weeks!)
He did not appreciate the cat carrier AT ALL however he didn't yowl and cry during the short drive, just sulked silently and then tried to break free, hurting his nose in the process and making his nose bleed.
4.65kg and about a year old. Now to teach him how to use the cat door - he's pretty quick on the uptake of following the other cats, in that he'll stand on his hind legs to gently take a treat from my fingers or get head/chin scratches.
And he charmed the vet and started purring, so that tracks with all our previous cats being very chilled out with the vet.

So my cat's nickname is QingQiu because I found him in a ditch as a kitten with a bunch of plants stuck in his fur(he's got long hair) while I was reading the mausoleum arc and also because he looks aloof and majestic but is in actuality a mess inside and is in denial about liking me(he follows me from room to room and sits right next to me but the second I acknowledge him he pretends he's doing something else). Anyway, he got neutered today
SORRY I TOOK SO LONG TO GET TO THIS. I LOVE QINGQIU !!!!!!!! I hope he's having a great time without his balls , as god intended ❤️❤️ if you're comfortable with it, is there any chance you could spare a picture of him 🥺 he sounds so cute and funny OUGH I love animals

It’s 4 in the morning and I’m having a hard time getting back to sleep.
Going to be taking a cat to get neutered today, but drop off isn’t until 7ish.
It’s in an area I don’t travel to a lot in my city and I’m a nervous driver.
Bluh.
