#my characterisation for Ian is no filter

Not technically for @may-blade but since the theme is mafia for today, I figured I’d share this fanfiction recommendation that is a Mafia AU featuring our beloved Russians by the wonderfully talented @krixel
I love this fanfic so much. It’s one of my true joys in fandom, it gives me everything I need, charming but cold Tala who gets shot in the first chapter and is genuinely the WORST patient ever. Very disgruntled Bryan and Ian having to deal with injured Tala (Spencer is lovely as always) and Kai DOES NOT want to be there. Except he does, because these are his boys too, and whatever shit Valkov’s gotten himself into (and there’s a LOT of shit) he’s going to help them out. Even if does mean dealing with Garland. Ugh.
Unfortunately during this whole gang warfare thing, they sort of kidnapped a barista. But you know, shit happens (as mentioned above). Luckily Mariam’s there to watch videos with her and keep her calm. >.> I love the atmosphere of this story, how from the very first scene I felt like I was immersed in this new world and it’s like cracking open a favourite novel from your favourite writer and knowing that you’re in for a good story.
The dialogue is perfect, so witty and clever and those little nuggets of brilliance also filter into the internal dialogue too so when a character is on their own or lost in their own thoughts, it’s wildly entertaining. The characterisation is beautiful too, I just love how on point the boys are, and how wonderfully blasé they are about the violence.
Also the action scene still takes my breath away. It’s like a movie, a movie I want to rewatch over and over again. I really can’t wait to read more of it.
So yes, for all your Mafia AU Beyblade needs, I present to you ‘Good Left Undone’

The house looked pretty much how he remembered it, not that he’d been round there much. He’d sold to Lip a few times back in high school, met him at the bottom of the garden to avoid his sister or something, he didn’t really care, a sale was a sale.
He’d dropped off some stuff for Mickey once too, back when he’d moved out to stay with his mental case boyfriend. Husband now, if what uncle Ronnie said was anything to go by.
Trying the handle he found it locked, maybe those fuckers actually had something worth stealing these days, he supposed, things must’ve changed while he was in the joint.
After a couple of knocks some kid answered the door, about eleven or twelve, wasn’t exactly surprising, the Gallaghers did always seem to be multiplying, he couldn’t keep track even before he’d gone away, even after his little brother was ghetto married to one of them. Suppose his little sister was also ghetto married to another at one point. What was it about that Gallaghers?
“Umm hello?” The kid asked him
“Eh, yeah is Mickey here?”
“Who’s asking?”
“I’m his brother.”
The kids face instantly closed up, eyes narrowing in suspicion.
“What do you want with him?”
“To see him?”
The kid didn’t seem like he was going to let up but he didn’t need to, because just then there was movement within the house.
“Who the fucks at the door keeping you so long? Go back and eat your fucking fruit loops before you’re late for school.”
Mickeys paused at the doorway, eyes widening in surprise when he saw who was there. The kid looked back and forth the two brothers for a second before taking Mickeys advice and heading back towards the kitchen.
“Who the fuck decided to let you out?”
Iggy let out a short laugh, his little brother looked different than he had when he last saw him years ago, older, but also happier, less guarded than he’d looked since he was just a little kid. Also cleaner, and in some weird, army getup.
“Let out for good behavior.”
Mickey snorted at that in disbelief. “You gonna come in or just stand outside freezing your ass off all day?”
“Waiting for my invitation little bro, you know considering I didn’t get one to your wedding.”
“You heard about that huh?” Mickey asked, scratching the back of his neck as he retreated into the house, Iggy following close behind. “You were in the joint anyway so what’s it matter?”
Iggy shrugged.
“Dunno, thought you were still in Mexico til I bumped into uncle Ronnie last night. You know what it’s like when you’re on the inside, everyone in our family acts like you’re dead. Didn’t hear shit about anyone.”
Mickey rubbed at his lip, some nervous tick dad had never bothered to beat out of him.
“Yeah I know, um uncle Ronnie tell you about dad?”
“Yeah he did. Gotta say I’m surprised, thought you’d be still fucking celebrating or some shit.”
“Fuck off, I wasn’t celebrating or anything.”
Iggy laughed.
Mickey frowned. “What? You don’t care?”
With a shrug, Iggy replied. “Nah, not like he’d care if any of us died. Don’t think he even cared when mom died, why’d I care bout him?”
Mickey paused before, begrudgingly tilting his head in agreement. His face was still drawn, their dads death seemingly taken a greater toll on the youngest Milkovich brother then anyone would have guessed.
Footsteps stomping down the stairs was what drew Iggy’s attention away from his brother. And apparently onto his brother-in-law. Ian was wearing the same weird army getup as Mickey. He was obviously older now, no longer the floppy haired teenager Mickey had seemingly stolen from Mandy and moved into his bedroom. His younger siblings had attempted to explain how all of that happened but it always seemed weird to him. He supposed while Mandy was Gallagher hopping, Ian was Milkovich hopping. As none of them seemed bothered by the arrangement he didn’t get involved.
“Hey Mick we gotta get going soon we if want to ma... Iggy? When did you get out?”
“Couple of weeks ago, the house got taken and I didn’t know where anyone was til last night. Uncle Ronnie said Mickey was still shacking up with you, thought I’d check up on him, see if married life’s made him soft.”
The redhead grinned at Mickey while Mickey flipped Iggy off.
“Fuck off, I ain’t gotten soft.”
“I can assure you, he’s not.”
Iggy laughed at the face Mickey pulled.
“You can both fuck off.”
“We do actually need to get going if we’re not going to be late for our first pickup.”
“What exactly are you guys doing? Some scam?”
Mickey looked away, it was the redhead that answered.
“Uh no, we run a weed security business, deliveries, pickups, that sorta thing.”
“Ain’t weed legal now? Mickey you gone legit?”
“Fuck you, I’m on parole.”
“Uh huh.” Iggy grinned.
“Uh yeah, so listen we gotta go but you gotta number or something, we could hang out, shoot the shit.”
“Yeah, yeah, I’ll give you the number for my burner. PO’s got me some dumbass interview later but I’ll see what days I don’t have to work.”
He could see Ian grinning at them out of the corner of his eye but he didn’t particularly care about the redhead, outside of whatever happiness he seemed to have brought to Mickey. He was a Milkovich through and through. The only people he’d ever really cared about were his siblings, and some of his cousins, most of which seemed to have gone to the wind these days. Not Mickey though, he still had his little brother, maybe he’d even learn to like his mental case of a husband one day. Maybe.

A Depression era gangster picture with solid American family values. It may also, like Mendes' absurdly overrated Oscar-winner 'American Beauty', fool cinema-goers into confusing its moody self-importance for profound insight. i read some non vna dw books a while ago but because i am a Clown i’ve only just finished typing up notes on them...i think my next dw book i’ll make notes as i go rather than just marking the pages and Hoping I Remember. anyway! here’s my thoughts on thirteen doctors 13 stories. i have more opinions on some than others.
A BIG HAND FOR THE DOCTOR
"...Susan, who was possibly the only person in the universe who could make the Doctor smile at the mere thought of her."
awwwwww
didn't really like this one that much - i wasn't too impressed with eoin colfer's characterisation of the first doctor (esp since pre-ian and barbara i don’t think he’d willingly attempt to stop some villains until susan was in danger)
THE NAMELESS CITY
Polly...once described him as looking like an unmade bed.
lmao
...he didn't know exactly what he was, though when he was growing up, he had heard tales of the legendary fairy creatures of the Unseelie Court who haunted Scotland's deepest valleys. He suspected the Doctor might be one of the dark Sith.
HEAVILY vibe with this concept the world is saved by bagpipes.......peak dw THE SPEAR OF DESTINY
"You know what I love about London?" he said, turning to her briefly. She sighed. "I'm sure I can't guess." "It's the only city in the universe where you can drive around in a car that's seventy years old and get away with it." "Who says you're getting away with it?" Jo muttered.
nkdfsjksn
"Fire away!"
"Oh, Doctor, please. Not after that business at the museum."
no doctor is immune to the temptation of a good pun. no matter how inappropriate. actually i really like how jo and three are written in this generally. there's so many good scenes. also, when the doctor asks her why she doesn't know anything about the vikings: "Doctor, we did the Romans. Every year." rip jo
From a distance the Doctor watched as a group of about twenty men loaded the TARDIS on to the back of a large low wagon pulled by four sturdy oxen.
jo: the doctor told me about the perception filter on the tardis so it'll be fine! they won't even spot it. literally the next scene, immediately:
She longed to stand and give this old goat a piece of her mind, but she knew she'd most likely fall over if she tried, which wasn't the effect she was after.
aw jo :(
"Do you know they wash once a week?" "Could have fooled me," muttered Jo.
*desperately resists the urge to write down every jo line in this story*
"I have the ship. And I have the spear. What need have I of you any more?"
the master is betrayed. to the surprise of no-one but himself.
The Doctor held her by the shoulders. "My dear girl," he said. "That is very noble of you. You were right. Your aspirations /are/ the very noblest. But you're wrong about something. Nothing is more important than you."
me, sobbing:
ROOTS OF EVIL
realised as i was reading this that i don't own any books featuring leela.....a crime
"Surprise!" the Doctor said. "You know you were complaining that you missed trees?"
this is actually the cutest thing no-one look at me
She could never understand why the Doctor was so careless of danger. It was a good thing he had her to look after him, she thought, as he opened the TARDIS door and they stepped out together into dim, green light and the earthy, warm-compost smell inside the great tree.
phillip reeve gets the four+leela dynamic. like. he Gets it.
"It will not hurt you," she promised. "It is called a 'scarf'. It is like a cloak, only pointless."
ousdofnsoksfd
"Did it look a bit like a gravel pit? You'd be amazed how many alien worlds look just like gravel pits..."
what is doctor who. without quarry jokes.
"I mean, he's wearing a bow tie!" the Doctor explained patiently. "Ridiculous objects! I wouldn't be seen dead in a bow tie!"
1) says the guy who wears an obnoxiously long scarf everywhere 2) honey, you've got a big storm coming
TIP OF THE TONGUE
there's a scene in this where nyssa and the doctor chill at a diner and they drink chocolate milkshakes together. this is all i care about.
Good Lord, was that celery he was wearing on his lapel?
Yeah We Know
"Are you British?" Nettie said, as if this was the most surprising part of the whole thing.
i mean, fair
He paused. "I don't suppose either of you would be interested in travelling?"
the fifth doctor: hey one of my friends died recently and i abandoned the other one but i really miss having a large crew so i was wondering if you two literal children would like to risk your life travelling with me :)
SOMETHING BORROWED
you'd think given this one is from peri's pov she'd be slightly more central to the plot. ah well.
"That's two storeys up!" I exclaimed. "And I'm in heels." "Well then, you should have worn more sensible shoes, shouldn't you?"
maybe she lives in hope that she won't have to do any running/scale buildings every time she steps out of the tardis. i get that.
"Well, you are the expert when it comes to gaudy," I said, giving a meaningful look to his red-and-yellow plaid coat and green tie.
every six story is legally obligated to drag his coat
The Doctor shook the man's hand vigorously. "Yes, yes. A little different round the edges since our last meeting on Kiri 4, but all the charm and intellect are still here."
i love this bastard.......
"Love? That contrived, chemically driven state of idiocy?"
mood
A clatter of metal was the sole warning I had before a hole in the ceiling suddenly opened, and the Doctor came tumbling down to the floor, landing in an ungraceful heap of rainbow plaid. Nonetheless, he rose to his feet with all the dignity of an Olympic gymnast who'd just landed a perfect somersault.
not to sound like a broken record but i would Die for this idiot
withholding myself from using more quotes to illustrate my unbridled love for the sixth doctor whom..........
"You might regret not helping me with this one day," she  [the Rani] called over to us. "Your next regeneration may be sooner than you think."
Huh. I Wonder What That's Referring To
RIPPLE EFFECT
From the look on his face, Ace reckoned that a visit to the Time Lords was something similar to her having to visit the dentist back on Earth.
i mean to be fair.....the time lords are a whole lot worse although in this case the doctor's reasons for not wanting to visit are: (i) they're 'old, boring and judgemental' (ii) they have stupid clothes and a stupid non-intervention policy (iii) they treat him 'like a naughty schoolboy' (can't have that in front of your companion!)
i apparently didn't have many comments to make on this one. um...it was good. i liked the idea of an alternate universe with nice daleks. MOVING ON
SPORE
"They're all dead....everyone's dead, flesh turned to liquid. It moves...There are things! Moving things! They're alive..." Major Platt looked up at the Doctor. "The caller became incoherent after that and disconnected shortly after." The Doctor drummed his fingers thoughtfully against the top of the aluminium folding-table between them. "Hmm...That really doesn't sound very good."
YEAH YA THINK?
"I was at the opera," the Doctor explained, "when my phone went off."
this is his excuse for That outfit. really just copying everything from grace here huh
THE BEAST OF BABYLON
She also didn't yet know that he wasn't a man at all.
yeah cos he's non-binary duh
"So now we're landing on Earth," he shouted, "two thousand years before the birth of Christ..." "Who?" "He was a bit like Sherlock Holmes. Knew the answers to everything. Very good at solving mysteries. Some humans use him to measure time."
obsessed with the implications of this dialogue...
THE MYSTERY OF THE HAUNTED COTTAGE
absolutely love the concept of this one...a world created from martha's memories of reading a famous five expy as a child
"What?" Martha said defensively, keeping her voice down. "That's how he was described in the books. Don't blame me. This was 1951. Everything back then was blinkered, sexist, and ever-so-slightly racist. It was a backward time." "Ah, yes," said the Doctor, "because 2007 has none of those things."
vibe with this convo
"Am I lonely?" Martha asked. "You're a particle of dust," the Doctor said. "Of course you're not lonely." "I sound lonely." "Well you're not; you're having a great time."
this conversation where the doctor tells martha to imagine herself as a particle of dust has exactly the same kind of energy as discussions you have at 3am at a sleepover
NOTHING O'CLOCK
Amy looked irritated. She wasn't irritated, but she liked to give him the impression she was, just to show him who was boss.
yeah...
ok the villains in this one are actually really fucked up like. it's been a While since i read it now because i procrastinated on making these notes but they were Good creepy. thank you mr gaiman.
LIGHTS OUT
now THIS is one where the pov heavily contributes to the story...
He turns to look at me with piercing, hollow-set grey eyes, then furrows his impressive silvery brows. "I'm buying a coffee," he says. "For a girl."
so THAT'S why twelve took so long to find coffee for clara......he wasn't buying it on earth. good vibes
TIME LAPSE
i absolutely LOVE the concept for this one, which is that the year 2004 completely disappears from records
A typed envelope reading The Doctor, The TARDIS, Ex-Gallifrey followed by a long string of numbers, letters, and things that probably were letters but looked like they came from about eight different languages.
obsessed with the fact that (i) you can apparently send letters to the tardis, like it has an actual address (mel throwing a message in a bottle into space doesn't seem so unreasonable now huh...) (ii) part of this address is 'ex-gallifrey'
this dude gets rejected. and is so badly embarrassed that he erases 2004 from existence. i promise i'm not making this up.

BROODS - PEACH
[7.20]
New Zealand's finest and, frankly, prettiest sibling act return.
William John: Look, this could be sheer coincidence, and I could be doing that likely very annoying thing where I characterise all New Zealanders as being part of a monolith of people who are all only a degree away from someone who did something in a Tolkien film. But between the buoyant, lurching bassline in Chelsea Jade's "Pitch Dark," the delightfully defiant album Ultra Red from October, the smiling-through-the-squall that runs all the way through Future Me Hates Me, the new record from The Beths, and now this bit of fizz from brother-sister Broods, it does seem as though New Zealand's pop scene is brimming with fearlessness at the moment, and it's thrilling. Put it down to Jacindamania, or a direct, inspired response to melodrama, or fate, or perhaps a confluence of the three. On "Peach," Caleb and Georgia Nott swirl around happily in solitude and find contentment in the present. It's a saccharine message, and not novel, but it is worth reminding oneself when confronted with the daily horrors of our desolate world that in spite of all apparent misery, self-actualisation is still possible, new days are on the horizon, and a dream need not be treated as mere delusion. The giddy, helium-inflected vocals in the pre-chorus here are rousing enough for that directive to filter through, but true lucidity comes with the chorus and its clattering of drums and woah-ohs. It's as though a curtain has been opened in a dark room, and everything has suddenly been bathed in clarifying, auspicious sunlight. [9]
Ian Mathers: I don't love the sample or filter or just performance that makes the voice sound like a little kid's bit for a bit right before the chorus, and this feels like it could have been trimmed by a minute or so and seemed a little less disjointed, but it wouldn't really take much altering to turn "Peach" from something promising to something great. [6]
Joshua Minsoo Kim: The desire for isolation aligns well with the introspective verses, but the song then aims to capture quiet contentment through an arrangement that finds a middle ground between insularity and pomp. It feels like the musical equivalent of walking in a parade and feeling happy about one's life; in this moment, all of life's suffering can be ignored and things are just as they should be. The titular "everything's looking peach now" hook is a bit too happy-go-lucky though, and the song ends up sounding like canned excitement. The vocal processing and inelegant structure also read as forced quirkiness, and it actually makes me feel extremely lonely. It's like everyone around me is having a blast and I'm trying my hardest not to kill the mood so I play along. Forcing my best smiles and acting more gregarious than usual, I hope that no one notices how I really feel. Of course, in the back of my mind I keep asking myself, "what's wrong with me?" This isn't healthy for me to listen to and I'm never going to play it again. [6]
Taylor Alatorre: It's hard for me to hear this as something other than an intricately adorned edifice whose sole purpose is to showcase some pretty great drum fills. And yes, they are pretty great. But the untelegraphed stylistic changes make it difficult to establish a baseline mood, and the insistence on layering new elements rather than perfecting the existing ones smacks of dilettantism. As a result, I have no clue what those pretty great drum fills are supposed to make me feel, other than mildly impressed. [4]
Rebecca A. Gowns: This is so fun! I just want to listen to this over and over again. The verses are so deliciously restrained, and that bombastic multi-part chorus is so meaty I could chew it like a big fat gumball. It reminds me of the first time I heard "Praise You" or "Let Forever Be" -- or maybe it just reminds me of being on the verge of young adulthood, feeling like anything was possible, getting lost in daydreams, and wearing out my DVDs of music videos with clever conceits. [10]
Will Adams: The pre-chorus -- where the vocals distort, the house piano comes in and the synths start to soar -- makes me think this could really use a Galantis remix. It's the best part of a song that's otherwise shrouded in reverb and a mix that lacks brightness. [6]
Julian de Valliere: Whenever I'm feeling terrible about life and my general existence I don't normally turn to songs that promise the sun will break through the clouds tomorrow, because when I'm sat on the toilet in the only room I can be afforded some privacy to fall apart I don't really want to be reminded of a hope I can no longer seem to generate. Those songs, all of which have undoubtedly been painstakingly assembled to inspire joy and optimism and all that good stuff within my breast, only manage to come across as cruel in my head. "Peach" has also been geared to stimulate such emotions, but there's a specificity in Broods' lyricism -- particularly that middle eight -- that allows it to register as intended. "Peach" doesn't try to downplay the severity of any situation, but spins the endless possibilities of the future in a way that's more realistic than impossibly cheerful. Yes, there'll be bad times, but also good ones, eventually. And then maybe more bad. But then probably more good. When you're desperately waiting for things to turn around, each knock-back can feel like another sign to stop pushing forward -- but I'm so grateful to this song for reminding me that forward is the only way. [10]
Alfred Soto: The drum fills, whooshes, and synth fills, and a startling call and response moment with multi-tracked vocals -- this track has ideas galore. After several listens with diminishing returns, I don't hear the song, though. [5]
Katherine St Asaph: Catcall's "The World Is Ours" retrofitted for 2018. It's one ever-so-slight step ahead of alt-pop, like a runway trend that's just started to trickle into all the stores (not quite how that works, but), and may well sound less joyous a year later. But it isn't a year later yet. [7]
Edward Okulicz: Not entirely sure of the use of "peach" as an adjective as opposed to "peachy," but am entirely sure that this is a confident bit of alt-pop that is only pretending to be shy in the chorus because that's how all the best pop songs and rollercoasters work, and the thing is stuffed with cool noises and insanely catchy hooks. The drums, the chorus that explodes and then becomes whole again only to explode as a slightly different chorus! There's a piano house mix yet to be created that's a hypothetical 10 that I'm willing into existence with my mind. Please, Broods, please, make my year. [9]

Raw Dramaturgy: Danielle Isaacs @ Edfringe 2017
Áine Flanagan Productions, Lipsink and United Agents present:
Hear Me Raw
WORLD PREMIERE
Actor and lifestyle journalist Daniella Isaacs delves into the world of clean living to find out why the fast rising health craze is making us sick
Written and performed by Daniella Isaacs
Directed by Rosy Banham
The Wee Coo, Underbelly,
2 – 28 Aug 2017 (not 14), 14:40 (15:40)
In an autobiographical story about #empowerment and crippling insecurity, #fitspiration and fragile bones, #superfoodsmoothies and so much debt, Daniella Isaacs removes the Instagram filter to reveal the dirty truth behind clean living.
Aged 24, Daniella joined the cult of contemporary wellness. She spiralised courgettes, saluted the sun, and came out top in spinning class. She even started her own health blog and set up a gluten-free granola brand.
What was the inspiration for this performance?
Over the past two years, I became totally consumed by the wellness industry. My lifestyle was focused on clean eating and exercise and everything else (my career, my relationships, my finances!) very quickly fell by the wayside. It was only when my sister told me she was pregnant at the end of last year that I had a wake up call- I hadn’t had a period in 16 months, my bones were weak, my hair was thin… wellness had made me sick.
The wellness industry is huge, and my experience is not unique. This show explores what is underneath the squeaky clean wellness facade and will reassess what wellness really means.
Is performance still a good space for the public discussion of ideas?
Absolutely. It’s probably the only medium where the audience can’t be distracted by their phones- that’s huge. It’s an amazing opportunity to share experiences, thoughts and feelings which explore the human condition.
How did you become interested in making performance?
Having spent my teenage years working with the National Youth Theatre, I experienced the joy of making new work with inspiring peers. When I left the Oxford School of Drama, I was encouraged to not sit and wait for the phone to ring, so I got a group of friends together and we made a show called Mush and Me.
Making my own work gives me a sense of agency and stability over my career.
Is there any particular approach to the making of the show?
I like to start with a question. The question behind Hear Me Raw is ‘What does it mean to be well?’. I then like to talk to people who have a personal connection with the subject. I really find interviewing and recording lived experiences are one of the best ways to stay inspired and motivated to make a show rich with ideas and an underlying sense of truth.
Does the show fit with your usual productions?
I like exploring work which delves ‘behind closed doors’ and I guess this character reveals what’s lurking underneath her squeaky clean facade. The show also dives somewhere quite heavy but it starts in a light-hearted, jovial place which I think is something I always enjoy creating.
What do you hope that the audience will experience?
I hope the audience leave feeling joyous! I hope the audience leave feeling empowered. I hope the audience leave feeling safe in the knowledge that we are all unwell and that’s okay!
What strategies did you consider towards shaping this audience experience?
We wanted to find a real sense of ‘liveness’ within a one-person show. Although there have been some really inspiring monologue shows, we often feel that they all comprise of lived experiences which the performer has got over and therefore nothing feels genuinely at stake. We wanted to find a way to make the performer experience her obstacles within the 60 minutes she is on stage. That way, the audience will feel active and involved during the show.
But it’s been two years since Daniella’s last period. Her bones are disintegrating, hairs are springing up in all the wrong places, and her anxiety is sky-rocketing. The doctors are saying her lifestyle is responsible. When did wellness start making us sick?
‘Orthorexia nervosa’ is an eating disorder characterised by an unhealthy obsession with healthy eating. Recovery clinics report a dramatic increase in the number of sufferers coming through their doors, but the term – first coined in 1996 – has yet to be recognized by official medical bodies. Hear Me Raw sheds light on the illness, and the image-saturated culture that fuels it.
Hear Me Raw is from the creative team behind irreverent intermarriage comedy Mush and Me, the winner of the 2014 IdeasTap Underbelly Award & the Holden Street Adelaide Fringe Award, and the producer of 2016 Fringe hit How to Win Against History.
Daniella Isaacs is an actress and writer. She has previously performed at the Bush, Soho Theatre, the Tricycle and most recently appeared in Fleabag (BBC/Netflix). She is an alumni of The Oxford School of Drama & National Youth Theatre. Daniella has written as a lifestyle journalist for Psychologies magazine, Mayfair magazine and Women’s Health.
Daniella says:  “I felt lost and overwhelmed, and with the help of social media, I found the wellness world, which offered easy answers. I followed endless recipes promising positivity, empowerment and insta-worthy abs. But clean living couldn’t cure my anxiety. If anything, it made it so much worse. From the front line of wellness, I can tell you that a ‘flat’ stomach doesn’t bring you happiness and gluten-dairy-sugar-free bliss balls definitely don’t lead you down the path to enlightenment. I know I’m not alone in this wellness obsession, and I want this show to provide an antidote to the squeaky clean social media feeds which brush the complexities of human existence under yoga mats and crisp, white table cloths.”
Rosy Banham is an Associate Artist at HighTide. She is currently Ian Rickson’s assistant director on In Therapy (in development, National Theatre), and was recently assistant director on the West End production of The Miser starring Lee Mack and Griff Rhys Jones. She has previously worked at the Royal Court, the RSC, Soho, Tricycle, Bristol Old Vic and Oxford Playhouse.
