Just wanted to reach out and I said I agree wholeheartedly with your reblog comments to Cheritz latest post.
Thank you!!! TTvTT
I honestly worry abt the future of the company. Cutting corners on the art is just a symptom of bigger problems behind the scene.
A project like the ssum is a big risk and it sounds like they're struggling to maintain it and make money off it.

THANK YOU finally someone here has a good take regarding the "haha barok and kazuma violently hate each other" thing?? ppl insisting that their dynamic post-game is always gonna keep being the exact same as when they're at their most extreme emotional states just... baffles me, especially since they're literally shown to be civil to each other right afterwards. it's Right There! idk why so many ppl ignore this! in general their circumstances are so unique that it's a huge disservice to boil them down just to being haters.. like yeah they're gonna be huge mess after everything, but not in the way that fandom usually potrays them. if kazuma fully hated the guy i don't think he'd insist on keeping the apprenticeship the way he did in game. sorry if any of this makes no sense, i have too much bottled up rage regarding fandom nonsense. nuance and character growth are nonexistent to people here
also scrolled through your other posts a tiny bit and i feel you, it truly is hard to be in this fandom and not be an as//ry liker, especially if you're a kazuma enjoyer. difficulty level: impossible. you're not alone tho! :')
sorry for leaving this in your inbox, hope you have a nice day/night!!
ANON….THANK U…..i feel like a big problem with the dgs fandom in particular is that they dont really consider how 2-5 affects character dynamics post-canon? because all the change is right there. ive talked about this but its like portraying kazuma’s relationship with ryuunosuke as Exactly The Same post-canon when it would be DRASTICALLY different despite them still loving each other very much, because ryuunosuke now sees all of kazuma. he was only seeing a very small part of who he was before, and his entire perception of his best friend got dismantled and replaced by a completely different one in a really short period of time.
the exact same is true for kazuma and barok: they have despised each other so deeply and irrevocably for a DECADE and now suddenly they have to accept the fact that nobody really did anything wrong. kazuma tried to send barok to his death, but he was doing it out of grief and rage built up over ten years. barok convicted genshin and that led to him dying, but he was young and naïve and grieving and being manipulated by stronghart the entire time. genshin killed klint but he did so honorably. klint was a murderer but all he wanted was to make his home a better place for the people in it. its all so complicated and nobody is completely innocent or completely at fault. everyone did something wrong for good reasons and everyone did something good for the wrong reasons. it’s too nuanced of a situation for them to truly go on hating each other the way they used to, because they’re both MATURE ADULTS who can understand the intricacies of the situation.
do i think they dunk on each other post-canon? i mean. yes. obviously. do i think they HATE each other, still, to this inane degree? no. obviously. their relationship is going to be strained. there’s literally no way that it wouldn’t be. but they respect each other, they hold each other in high regard, and they’re respectful. and it sucks because these changes in dynamics are literally SHOWN at the end of 2-5 but people just like. cant. comprehend them. like i just don’t get it. also if kazuma is going to hate anyone in the cast its going to be herlock like he fucking SHIPPED HIS AMNESIAC CORPSE TO CHINA and never apologized for it i would NOT be letting that go anytime soon

*frantically shakes the AoB fandom* you do NOT understand. Shakira Oldies are SUCH A FERMYNE/ROZEMYNE MOOD but no one will be able to experience the yearning filled with religious jargon songs and an unhinged desire to protect
Like, “I’d give you my craziness, I’d give you my last neurons, I would even give you my bones but please stay with me” is so ??? Her ???
AND DIAS DE ENERO ??? THATS FERMYNE it’s such a “I wanna protect you so much I adore you” and IM NOT OKAY

"Aziraphale fucked his way through history bc hedonism =/includes sex !"
(It's all fun and games and go wild with whatever headcanon your heart wants! Truly! Have fun.)
No it doesn't and
No he did not, because
Putting aside my own feelings as an ace person who relates strongly to Aziraphale The angels in tv canon (and implied in book canon) find eating /food/ repulsive and uncouth, at best. They don't seem afraid of it, just grossed out.
But historically in ye olde days, y'know when Aziraphale is shown to be actually scared of the repercussions of his actions on Earth? Angels who had ~relations~ with humans Fell, at best, or tossed into a dark pit for eternity, or cast out by the other angels as rebels, and/or it got the human involved killed or damned, and worse if the angel was involved with a demon/Fallen angel (all depending on what religious frame of reference your choose to take).
Given the state of piety, what appears to be at least some version of toxic purity culture, and extreme surveilance in the GO'verse Heaven regarding the angels interactions on Earth, I simply don't think Aziraphale would risk any indulgence that couldn't be easily explained away.
"But the angels don't even know how human sex works, we saw that in the Job Job! How would they know?"
Yeah, because angels don't have sex. Because the ones that did and had that knowledge Fell/were killed/etc. Why would they risk that?

No. 3
Socialising. Yay! Myne’s favourite thing to do! She loves talking to people when she could be reading books! It’s great... Haha.. Wonderful in fact. Not frustrating in the slightest. She even has a game of shogi to lose! Whoohoo! Now, don’t get me wrong, Myne doesn’t dislike her cousin, but he likes talking about business. Not books. And talking means she’s not reading. Then again... Maybe she can use his business skills for something else? Maybe he knows how friendships work? They’re basically business transactions right? Myne isn’t exactly sure about that part, but she’s pretty sure she’s read about that being the case somewhere. Eh. She’ll figure it out.
Probably.

On the topic of Myne's chronic illness I also want to talk about the magical cure trope and how the narrative subverts it. The magical cure is more times than not a very harmful trope and difficult to use properly, typically it involves a character who is disabled in some way and a cure of some sort that cures them of their disability. The problem with it however is the fact that for most disabled or chronically ill people there is no cure and that the narrative will typically imply, whether the author means to or not, that a person can only be "whole" if they are physically and mentally fit. With Ascendance of a Bookworm however this doesn't happen, of the three cures Myne receives throughout the story none of them remove the fact that she is chronically ill and the narrative never treats the fact that she is as a bad thing but rather something that she and the people around her have to cope with and work around. This is most telling in how her apprentice attendants lose points in their classes when she collapses at tea parties at the academy, it is seen not as her fault for not being well but her attendants for not being prepared enough to care for their lady.

My grand plan to give Roland a heart attack before he's 40.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
For context, there was a lot of prejeduce going around in the middle ages. Marrying outside of your religion or nationality was also taboo. Not to mention the classism or racism.
My headcanon is that they all kinda take after Clover in that respect. She instantly fell in love with Roland even though he was a mercenary and just off parol. (Tbf, it was a Les Mis type situation, but he still had a sus record)

Season 4 for Bookworm confirmed!
I'm so excited. Part 3 is probably my favorite part, and one of my favorite studios is animating it. I'm glad another studio is taking the reins as things are going to get more action packed from here on, not to mention We are finally going to be experiencing the fantasy part of this fantasy world as we finally get to leave the City and explore the rest duchy. We got a taste of that in part 2, but now we're going to actually get to know the duchy Rozemyne lives in.
This is also going to be a big shift for the anime-onlys their reaction to previous plot points and spoilers about the later 3 parts of aob have me worried for thier reaction as Part 3 turns the story into more of a political drama. Rozemyne is now an Archduke Candidate and one of the highest ranked people in Ehrenfest period, and now she has to learn to navigate not only this new culture that she's been thrown into but also learn how to appropriately wield her power and she will sadly make mistakes that are going to cause more trouble than good for those now ranked below her. I'm worried how some will take these moments, as I know many of Myne's captlitalistic tendencies were criticized in the past. I have hope that they'll power through this change, especially as we sadly leave downtown and those characters.
This is also going to be the deconstruction of Ferdinand that is going to continue all the way through to part 4. Now that they are essentially equals in the eyes of society, their relationship is going to evolve accordingly. I'm excited to finally see Ferdinand's bad habits animated🥰
All of my favorite LN moments are in part 3, so don't be surprised if I never stop talking about the anime when it comes out!

Professor Cryptid Wet Cat
Look, Professor Gadling being a secret immortal cryptid has already reached peak meme status. The Gdoc is a rabbit hole to get lost in on a rainy day.
But Professor Murphy? Hooo boy. The students are just getting started.
Nobody calls Professor Murphy by his given name of "Thomas." Like, you could try, but he's not going to respond to you, as if the name was just something tacked on for the sake of appearances.
One of the class overheard Professor G calling Professor Murphy "Dream." Now, everyone initially thought that it was just another adorable pet name (there's a running list of them in the Gdoc). But then another student who had been getting drinks at the New Inn had overheard this sweet little boy calling him "Uncle Dream." Go figure.
Here's the thing, though, "Murphy" is an Irish name but there isn't a trace of the Gaelic's music in his accent, proper RP that it normally is. Unless you're an Irish student and suddenly, there's the lilt and the sweetness of the Goídelc in his voice when he talks to you, echoes of the tales of the Children of Lir and Cu Chulainn, best heard as the bards sung them.
The language thing doesn't stop there. Professor Murphy seems to inexplicably know every language ever spoken, happily chatting away in a mix of Tagalog and English with the Filipino students, Welsh with the kids from Wales, French and Italian and Polish and Russian and Swahili and Igbo - circumnavigating the globe as neatly as you please without losing any stride. And then, going back in time, as it were, straight to Middle English.
6. Middle English, as everyone knew, was the language Professor Gadling tended to slip into from time to time and there was something unbearably sweet about how Professor G would refer to his husband as myne owne hertis rote, only for Professor Murphy to answer with my heart's gleam and that lovely little smile. But one hadn't lived until they heard both Professors absently talk to each other in Middle English as if they'd been born speaking that language and had temporarily forgotten that they were already in the 21st century.
7. Suspicions about Professor Murphy being a vampire abounded, until they had all seen him walking in sunlight, with Matthew the Raven on his shoulder. Then it became rumors about Murphy being a Twilight-variant of vampire because he literally glowed in the sun. And had so obviously sent poor Professor Gadling dot exe crashing at the sight.
8. This conversation also happened:
"Who is Edward Cullen and why would he sparkle? And why would all of you be Bella Swan?"
All of the students look at each other. And then:
"I will fong the first person who explains Twilight to poor Professor Murphy, I swear to Christ, I will fong you."
"Perhaps I should ask Matthew."
"Caw! Nevermore!"
9. One of Professor Gadling's classes had taken a trip to the Tower of London and Professor Murphy had just tagged along, much to his husband's delight. Every. Single. Raven. from the Tower had just converged on Murphy as if he were their long lost King or something, cuddling close, cawing in delight. Matthew was so obviously, adorably jealous at the whole thing and somebody could've sworn they heard a distinctly American voice holler: "HEY CLAWS OFF YOU ASSHOLES. GET YOUR OWN DREAM KING!"
10. Sometimes, the students could swear up and down that Matthew the Raven could really, truly, talk. Professor Murphy and his raven have often been seen sitting together, often with Murphy apparently showing the bird something on his smart phone or tablet, deep in discussion with him. Everyone tried very hard not to think about this too deeply, especially since Murphy would often return to the classroom with a better understanding of current jokes and memes once he'd had a "conversation" with Matthew.
11.
"Darling, why do you have a plushie of .... good lord, is this Cthulhu?"
"A gift from my students, my love. We had a rather engrossing lecture on Lovecraft the other day."
"Oh. Oh no. Don't tell me you had the same sort of thing going with him as you did with bloody Shaxbert!"
A huff. "Certainly not. Such a small-minded young man, utterly arrogant - though he did have potential. I thought to teach him a lesson by showing him how insignificant he truly was in the infinite vastness of the universe. His mind almost broke from it."
"Ah. And where does Cthulhu come into this?"
"Lovecraft had a horror of marine creatures, specifically those of the class Cephalopoda. I often took the form of this creature in my nightmare aspect. The wings were an inspired touch, I believe. He was near out of his mind with terror - some of my finest work."
"Of course you were bloody Cthulhu, why am I not surprised? My adorable little eldritch abomination..."
"Hob Gadling, there is nothing adorable about me -- a;dkjf;adlkfja;dlkf!"
12. Rose Walker's first novel Into the Night was a best seller and readers everywhere rejoiced when they heard it would become a series. Readers also fell in love with the enigmatic King of Dreams, the antagonist in Ms. Walker's book. Thus, the second novel in the series, The Prince of Stories, was eagerly awaited by many. Once again, the same mysterious voice actor did the audiobook, which quickly climbed to the top of the charts in all the platforms of its release. But what drove Professor Murphy's students into a tizzy was Ms. Walker's dedication: "For Uncle Dream, our Prince of Stories" and the following exchange:
"Professor Murphy, we didn't know you were a fan of Rose Walker."
A proud smile. "My niece has quite the story to tell. I've been looking forward to reading her next book."
"You're Rose Walker's Uncle Dream?!"
-end-
Am I writing more of what I started in this POST - yes, yes, I am.
Do you guys want to see a more complete version of the first story? It's in AO3.

Honestly the more vaguely European-esque nobility stories, ascension stories, and fantasy isekai (and the various combinations of those things) that I read, the more I appreciate what Bookworm does.
Like for one, Myne is so much more interesting than almost any other protagonist in those stories that it's kinda funny. But also, I think I'm just too anti-monarchy to ever fully be sold on the specific brand of wish fulfillment that those stories usually have. Also a lot of them are really romance-centric, with any character that's not the love interest just kinda being there. In ascension stories, they usually don't have any actual attachment to their commoner roots, with the families or friends being either complete assholes or footnotes.
Even beyond those general things, there are specific tropes/common happenings that Bookworm does better. Like I've been trying to get into more villainess isekai; and for some reason there's almost always this moment where the MC, after being disrespected by a maid or other servant, will slap them to show her authority or whatever. Like it's supposed to be this badass girlboss moment, but she's just a rich noble girl slapping this peasant (that's usually just doing the bidding of the Evil™ noble rich lady who mysteriously goes unslapped). Cool.
In Bookworm, there are 2 notable "putting servants in line" moments, but they're much different. The first is with Gil, but 1) Myne isn't the one to hit him, 2) He's not being physically punished for being disrespectful, he's getting physically punished for putting his hands on Myne first [and in the lower city, where Lutz grew up, if you throw hands you get hands]. Then there's Traugott: Rozemyne doesn't even care that he was disrespecting her. She only decides to ruin his life when he shit talks Damuel lol
There's a lot more, like Urano/Myne being actually relevant, etc etc but I don't want this post to get longer.
