I made a Discord server for any and all lovers of Greek Gods, Mythology, and History! While it is open to anyone who loves mythology of any kind, the server is primarily focused on Ancient Greece, with some overlapping of Ancient Roman Gods, Mythology, and History as well! There are channels for anyone interested in other mythologies too, so anyone is welcome!

This is for anyone who wants to learn about Greek Mythology and History or who already knows about it and wants to help others learn about it!

Frequency - Art Installation Progress

So the art installation I've been working on with my team is near finished, we just need to put in the city model(temp atm). The Kinect tracking and people counter is working. I set up the environment to kind of look like cyberpunk, as it shows our exploration into the theme of technology working with nature, we also have researched the topic of metaphysics which can be seen in the work.

Metaphysics is described as being the nature of cause and effect. This can be split into topics of metaphysical investigation. These are Time, Existence, Space, Possibility, Objects, & their Properties.

Time is the continued progress of event and existence.

Existence is the is the ability to interact with reality.

Space is the relative position and direction of 3D objects.

Possibility is the logical consequence of an action.

Objects are something that is to be observed.

Properties is a characteristic of an object.

About Our Project

Our project will be set up in WG level 4. For the setup, we will be using a screen to display visuals and a speaker system for audio output. The visuals are animated imagery of floating will-o-wisps overlayed on a ‘cable’ tree overlooking the city. The tree is used to symbolize the roots of cables that reside under the city bringing connectivity and signals to everyone.  There are also wi-fi(rainbow) signals in the background to visually show the number of signals that are always in the city.

The interactive element of the installation will be done through the use of a Kinect V2 sensor. This will be used to count people in front of the display to simulate that they generate lots of signals(Bluetooth, wifi, etc) through the use of cell phones and other wireless devices.

When there are more people, more wisp units(Bluetooth signals) will be displayed on the screen. This wisps will move in flocks(AI behavior) and will move around simulating the way people gather around connectivity and signals such as wi-fi. 

“Will-o’-the-wisps are very simple apparitions. They appear as balls of light, sometimes so bright that they hurt your eyes and other times so dim that you have to squint to see them. They usually have a blue-ish gleam to them, although red has also been reported” (Geller, 2017). This is the same with any kind of frequency, some a strong and stand out, and others are weak and are hard to find.
