“If you need my shoulder, or my hand, or a hug-” + Daigo

It’s been... a rough couple of weeks.

Daigo has been busy with yakuza stuff that he never tells me about (especially since I am technically a civilian, but it’s been stressing him out. That much is obvious, since his texts have been curt, one word answers, and his calls have disappeared. I, of course, understand why this might be the case: Majima had told me before that there was more tension between the Tojo Clan and the Omi Alliance, just like what had been going on when we first got together. And when families like that argue, well... it can affect the safety of an entire city, so of course Daigo would be tense and stressed out. I would be in danger if the tension doesn’t subside, after all.

Despite my understanding nature, it does feel like he... doesn’t want to come back home. I’ve been keeping our apartment nice and clean, organizing everything on our shelves (and then re-organizing them) just to keep my hands busy, just to distract myself, and that in itself is a red flag because I never clean if I don’t have to. That’s something that everyone knows about me, especially Daigo, though I have been more wary of making messes now that we live together. Well... at this point I might as well say lived together.

The next red flag is my lack of texts to him. The instinct to isolate is too strong at times like these, and with such short responses I assume he’s upset with me. I assume he doesn’t want to talk, or he doesn’t want to talk to me, at least. It reminds me of how he was after he got out of prison. And that makes me wonder, has he found someone else? Have I... been replaced so easily? 

...

My lack of texts to him makes him worry. But, he’s so busy, he doesn’t have time to say anything, or when he does, he forgets to. He’s almost done with this shit, after all, and he’ll be home soon, right?

It takes him about two seconds of entering our apartment to feel a sense of shock. Everything is so clean that it sparkles, and yet there’s a sheen of dust across the couch that we usually sit on. What is going on? His thoughts come screeching to a halt as he lays eyes on me, seeing me curled up in our shared bed. “... Amai-chan? What’s goin’ on? Did somebody hurt you?” Always the protector, he rushes towards the bed to protect me from whatever is scaring me, but it only takes him a second to realize that what’s scaring me isn’t something that he can just... punch and be done with. No, it’s something more than that, something that lingers no matter what.

He can feel himself start to panic a little as he notes the tears on my face as I greet him. What should he do? He knows that I need comfort, but he’s never once seen me so visibly upset... “Wh-What... How do I help you, Cami-san?” His voice shakes a bit as he asks, uncertain of his words, though he understands that he’s done something right, considering the way my expression shifts to surprise instead of sorrow and fear. “I... If you need my shoulder, or my hand, or a hug-”

“Just... hold me, Dai-san...” My voice is weak, and twice as shaky as his, but he gets the message, and within a second he’s holding me close to his chest, one hand roving through my hair as the other rubs gentle circles on my lower back. Of course, he knows this is one of my favorite cuddling positions, so I melt into him, eyes falling shut as his heartbeat rings in my ears. 

We end up talking through everything after a moment, him allowing me to hide my face in his chest as I speak, and me allowing him to talk a lot more than I do so he can explain everything that’s been going on without me interrupting. Somehow, we always seem to know what’s best for each other without even mentioning anything.

Sometimes, we have these kinds of misunderstandings... but as cheesy as it sounds, our love for each other leads us back to comfort every single time without fail.

To celebrate the 1 year anniversary of my blog and the almost 200 followers (thank you so much guys, I can’t even express how grateful I am for y’all to support me like this) I’ve decided to throw this little event around the steampunk aesthetic.

It would be a bit like my Suit Up ! event I did a few months ago. The idea is to post 1 sketches per day in DECEMBER, so 30 spots are available.

- Well, well my dear anon. I decided to pair you up with Vinsmoke Sanji because I think that you need lots of love and appreciation. And I think that he is someone who can give you all of that and even more.

- You were walking around the deck of the Sunny. Thinking about everything but also nothing at the same time. One minute you were thinking about your friend who send you a letter just yesterday and minutes later you would be walking around with a empty head. For a person that barely talked or spoke up about anything your mind was always somehow occupied with something.

- Two months. Since two months you were sailing with the strawhats who recruited you to join the crew of the future pirate king.

- You liked all of the crew members. But out of all of them you liked Robin and Zoro the most since they were pretty chill and calm people. They were quite and didn´t talk much. You could be sitting next to them without having to hold conversations. You could be sitting next to each other without a glimpse of awkwardness.

- Every member of the strawhat crew knew that you weren´t the most talkative person and accepted you the way you were. But still they somehow always tried to get you to talk. And one of them tried that the most. That person was none other than the ships cook, Sanji.

- You were aimlessly walking around the ship with eyes fixed on the ground when you felt your legs getting tired. You were close to the tree with the swing so you took the opportunity to take a seat on the swing and slowly sway yourself back and forth. You were once again lost in your thoughts when you felt a blanket being placed over your shoulder. The sudden contact made you flinch slightly and look up only to find the first mate standing in front of you. “Oi are you okay? I went to train in the crow’s nest around 6 pm when I saw you walk around on your own.”, with a visibly confused and a tilted head you were looking the green haired man in the eyes. “And?”, you wondered. Zoro raised a brow. “Y/N. It´s half past nine now. Didn´t you realize how dark it got? You´re pretty weird but that’s fine since none of us are normal. Not even Nami who´s not a devil fruit user.”, the words of the swordsman made you laugh. “Thank you for the blanket but I am not weird. I am just not really talkative like some of ya´ll. ”, you said while cuddling into the blanket. “I am fine with that. In fact that makes me like you the most since you´re pretty chill. Anyways I gotta go and shower. It´s your turn with the night watch I suppose. Good luck with that stupid cook. Night.”, without waiting for a reply he left you alone.

- When you thought you were alone footsteps could be heard behind you. You took a look at your left just to find Sanji walking down the stairs in black pants and a white shirt. Rolled up sleeves showing that he left the kitchen minutes ago and a new cigar between his lips he walked down the stairs with one hand in his pocket. No matter how he put a step he always looked elegant and gracious. “It kinda makes me sad to see that you talk and even laugh with that marimo but not me. Did I do something wrong my dear?”

- Out of all the people on the ship you never thought of hearing such a question come from the gentlest and loving person. You never thought that he would ever ask such a question because you always thought he could and would understand you without having to speak about it. “You seem to not like me much. Are you?”, he said with a beautiful smile upon his lips.

- “It´s not like that. It´s just that he never makes me talk. He listens when I do but other than that he never tries to make me speak because he understands that I don´t like to talk much. And when I do out of nervousness he makes me stop and takes over. He might not look like it but he truly is a understanding man. And so is Robin.”, “And I am not?”, you shook your head and smiled back at the cook. “You´re different. You are my comfort and save place.”

- The words that left your lips made Sanji widen his eyes out of shook. For a second his mind went blank but quickly was able to pull himself back together. He lit up the cigar between his lips and put both of his hands in his pocket.

- Sanji always tried his best to get you to talk and look people in the eyes when you did but he never forced you into anything. He always tried his best to make you speak out your thoughts and opinion on everything as gentle as possible. He was always caring towards you and always kept an eye on you. He understands you better than you do. He can read through your facet that was supposed to show a brave and strong you. A woman that was not shy. A extroverted, active woman. He was able to look into your soul and give you whatever your heart desired. No matter if it was food, clothes, books or simply the comfort of a silent room.

- “I really appreciate your words. In fact I am honored to have you see me worthy enough to be beside and with you. Although I wish for it to be more than that.”, out of habit you tiled your head slightly to the side that showed your confusion. You were about to ask what he meant but got cut off when he pulled you back up on your feet. “Let´s go and have a little snack.”

- With no other words leaving you, you let him lead you to the kitchen not knowing that your little head tilt made his heart melt and his soul to bust the biggest uwu.

(Just cause cliches can be used in anything not just books and movies lol) “She’s a chip off the old block”; When it’s raining and the male love interest has to give the female love interest his clothes so she’ll stay warm and he’s all “I’ll be alright/You need it more than me” (Honestly anything involving wearing the other’s clothes and it leaves the other one half naked in a way that implies it’s due to person #1’s incompetence OR need to cover up because uwu boobs)

Talents and/or Powers: Devil Fruit powers that let her manipulate light particles so she can A. Camouflage/turn invisible, B. Create force fields, and C. Create an object out of “hardened” light for various uses (each of these is like, an increase in how much stamina it uses though)

Why Someone Might Love Them: She cares...so much lol like to the point it’s often detrimental to herself, but she just wants the people around her to be safe and happy. She notices things about the people around her and is able to anticipate someone’s needs before they ask for it (sometimes before they even realized they needed it). Also, she’s a lovable dork lol her jokes are bad but her heart is big, and you can’t go wrong with that lmao

Why Someone Might Hate Them: She’s so fucking dumb lmao like, ok she’s not stupid, but she fluctuates between making super rash, impulsive decisions that could get her or others killed (but objectively MAY be the right thing to do if she’d just put some thought into it), and just...not making a decision at all, to the point where it’s very frustrating trying to figure out what she wants, especially since often she doesn’t know herself

How They Change: As she sees the world, learns about the people she’s travelling with and the various people and places that exist outside of the little island she called home, she eventually stops being so timid on making decisions for herself, and learns to not be so scared to put her foot down and defend those decisions. At the beginning, even the impulsive ones are met with, at the very least, scolding and anxiety about whether it was the right decision. She eventually figures out you can’t change the past, so decide what you want to do and don’t waver, even if others don’t get it. (Basically my goal is to take her from “oh shit I shouldn’t have done that everyone hates me now” to “Damn right I did that thing and I don’t give a fuck if you hate me now, I stand by my decision!”)

Why You Love Them: Skylar’s my baby lmao I’ve been working and reworking and re-reworking her character for well over a year now, which is partly why I think I haven’t written more than the first chapter of her fic (I’m scared I won’t be able to make it as good on paper as it is in my head lol). She embodies a lot of my insecurities from when I was younger, from issues with sexuality to just finding that balance between putting yourself first vs putting others first. She goes through a lot of growth and change throughout her whole story, and she grows up so much while figuring out who she is, and it’s exciting for me to write, but it’s also terrifying both because I worry I won’t be able to portray it the way it should be portrayed, and also because it IS laying a lot of my soul to bear for strangers on the internet to judge (Though granted, they’re older demons now that I no longer deal with as heavily, but at one point they were very close to me lol). She got probably the worst aspects of my personality, and I can only hope that I’ve also instilled the good, at least enough that others can see it too (This ended up getting deep and philosophical whoops lmfao)

main actor: “Protagonists really are so cool, I'm more like Villager B who only runs away”. For her part, the guitar mentioned in the song would be a book. She’s never felt a part of the world, and she’s never felt as if she’s had a place anywhere.

Kyoumen no Nami:  “All these shards forgot where they were flying to as they dissolved into the days that passed by”. Arianna has always felt as if something was missing from her, like she isn’t quite in touch with the world around her. She has vivid dreams and daydreams, some of a world she’s never been to before, and she’s always felt as if she’s looking for herself.

Imaginary: “I lie inside myself for hours and watch my purple sky fly over me” She prefers living in her head to living in the real world, and dislikes coming down to lucidity.

It Will All Make Sense In The Morning:  “Are these roots and leaves or is this a part of me?”. Arianna is near-constantly in a dreaming state, whether awake or asleep.

Milkdrunk: “When I reach beyond myself, I’m amazed at what I find”. Just beginning to wake up, she’s taking notice of the world around her.

Stay In My Memory: “Don’t take all my thoughts today so I can start to begin again”. She feels herself constantly pulled away by dreams and, unbeknownst to her, vague memories. They seem more important to her than anything in the present.

Quiet:  “I want to slip into the quiet and watch the whole world pass me by”. A part of Arianna wants dearly to disappear from the world. This manifests particularly during times of stress and strife.

Waking Up:  “The whites are missing from my eyes, I can’t breathe, I’m doing everything to bring this body back to life”. She suffers panic attacks and disassociates in times of great stress. This song is herself fighting to come back to the present.

Nine: “How do I forgive myself for losing so much time? Wake up”. Her enneagram type is Nine. This song touches on some of her most important characteristics, such as her perpetual daydreaming and her tendency to disassociate, as well as a slowly dawning desire to have influence over herself.

Headlock: “Afraid to start, got your heart in a headlock”. She’s often telling herself that she isn’t good enough, that of course others look down on her. And perhaps a part of her knows that isn’t true.

Synchronicity: “If the beats of our hearts were in synchronicity, could I fall as far as you?”. Partially touches upon her bond with Emet-Selch/Hades.

Blackbird:  “Take these broken wings and learn to fly”. Slowly gaining the will to live in the present as opposed to unreality,

Breathe Me: “Ouch, I have lost myself again”. Becoming more and more aware of when she figuratively disappears, she’s willing to learn to try and live in the present.

Eternity - Memory of Lightwaves:  Melancholic, sad, but vaguely hopeful, fits her quite well.

I mean, at least to my standards I find him to be a romantic XD He’s not interested in getting married, and there’s a few things that are considered romantic that he won’t do- but for the most part he’s pretty much yeah.
