Grumpy Sneezes & Sunshine Blessings
Here are a few drabbles that I wrote from the idea in this post about Hobi saying bless you to grumpy sickies
Namjoon’s version (337 words)
“Oh– fuck–” Namjoon shudders, his entire body tensing, and then lurches forward with a congested sneeze that he aims into an overly-used wad of tissues in his waiting hands. He then glares preemptively at Hoseok, who looks far too cheerful for how early in the morning it is.
“Don’t fucking say it,” Namjoon gasps out as he recovers from the sneeze, his nostrils still flaring in the aftermath.
Hoseok blinks innocently, the corners of his mouth twitching. “Say what?”
Namjoon shivers and Hoseok reaches out to cup the side of his face.
“You’re feeling a bit warm–”
He’s cut off by a trembling inhale from Namjoon. Blinking rapidly, Namjoon’s face scrunches up, and he pulls away from Hoseok’s hand just in time to sneeze again.
Hoseok pulls a tissue out of the box and hands it over. Namjoon takes it and presses it to his runny nose, sniffling frantically, slightly out of breath, and shoots Hoseok a warning look, but it goes ignored and Hoseok grins.
“Bless you!”
Namjoon’s shoulders sag. He coughs, and Hoseok’s hand finds his overheated face once more.
“I think you’re running a fever,” he tells Namjoon. “Why don’t you get some rest?”
With a wet sniffle, Namjoon’s eyes meet his, and this time all of the annoyance in his expression is gone, replaced by pure exhaustion.
“Okay.”
Hoseok helps him to bed, tucking him under the covers and setting the tissue box within reach. Namjoon curls up on his side, coughing, and he shivers when Hoseok cards his fingers through his hair.
As Namjoon shifts around to find a more comfortable position, he sneezes again, a tired sound muffled into his sleeve.
Hoseok can’t help himself. He whispers, “bless you,” and Namjoon rolls his eyes with a groan.
“Leave me to sneeze in peace,” he begs.
Hoseok nods once. “Okay, okay. Rest well. I will be checking on you in a few hours.”
Namjoon fakes a snore, and Hoseok chuckles, bending down to press a kiss to his forehead before he leaves.
Yoongi’s version (512 words)
Yoongi feels as though he could collapse at any second. Preferably, in his own bed and preferably, after taking some medication that might help with the relentless congestion plaguing his sinuses and the fever that’s coursing through his body.
He stops short in the doorway of his room, almost dizzy with the abruptness of the movement, and clenches his jaw; there, sound asleep in the middle of his bed, is Hoseok.
Yoongi can’t fucking believe it. Hoseok has his own damn bed. But he’s too tired to deal with him, and so he stomps over to the bed and instead of waking Hoseok up to kick him out, he climbs into the bed beside him.
He’s not exactly gentle as he moves around to find a comfortable position, yanking the blankets up to cover himself and causing Hoseok to stir next to him. Hoseok’s not the one who’s sick and has just had his bed stolen, though, so Yoongi doesn’t care if he wakes him up. When he feels a sneeze coming, he lets it out, and the sound echoes throughout the quiet of the bedroom.
“Bless’ya,” Hoseok mumbles in his sleep.
“Don’t bless me,” Yoongi hisses, still feeling irritated that Hoseok is even here in the first place. He sneezes again, and Hoseok rolls over and latches onto him, one arm draped over his waist. A third sneeze, and he can sense Hoseok waking up even more.
“Bless you,” comes Hoseok’s sleepy reply.
“Fuck off.”
A soft, shaky exhale that sounds like too much of a laugh, and then, “No.”
“Hoseok, shut the fuck up. I’m trying to sleep.”
Now, Yoongi can feel Hoseok moving next to him, clearly more awake. “Well, me too, but then you started sneezing.”
“Why the fuck are you in my bed?”
There’s a soft sigh, the sound of Hoseok rubbing his face. “You said you were cold and achy earlier. I thought we would cuddle so I could keep you warm and comfy.” He pauses, sighs again. “I fell asleep waiting here for you. I can leave.”
But he doesn’t leave. He just lies there, a warm presence against Yoongi’s body. Yoongi rolls onto his side, facing away from Hoseok, and frowns deeply, fighting against the swirl of emotions in his gut he can’t possibly begin to comprehend when he’s feeling so miserable.
Hoseok pulls the blankets up around Yoongi’s shoulders and tucks him in, then begins to rub his back. Yoongi hates to admit that it feels nice and comforting, but after a few moments Hoseok’s hand slows, and then comes to a complete stop. He hears a yawn, and then Hoseok’s hand moves from Yoongi’s back, his arm falling back down onto the bed. His breathing is slow and even, and for a moment Yoongi thinks he must have fallen back asleep.
His nose twitches, and though he tries to suppress it, another sneeze shakes his body.
“...bless’ya,” Hoseok murmurs, and then less than a minute later he’s asleep, the sound of his soft snores floating throughout the air.Yoongi almost– almost– smiles.
Seokjin’s version (436 words)
Hoseok rests his forehead against the windowpane with a sigh. Outside, there’s a bird making lazy circles in the sky, and a light breeze rustles through the branches of the tree in the front yard, sending cherry blossom petals floating down toward the ground.
He watches in amusement as several petals land in Seokjin’s hair, and a moment later, Seokjin lurches forward, back curving and head bobbing with what must be his twentieth sneeze in the past hour. The old, rickety bench he’s sitting on wobbles with the force of it and Hoseok dearly hopes it doesn’t give out and fall apart while Seokjin’s out there sneezing his head off.
Pulling his sunglasses down from the top of his head and onto his face, Hoseok stands and makes his way to the front door. Seokjin doesn’t acknowledge him as he approaches, too busy sneezing once again.
“Bless you! Whatcha doing out here?”
Seokjin gives him a look that’s mostly a glare, his nostrils flaring. “Just thinking.”
“Mm. Looks like you’re doing a lot more sneezing than thinking.”
“Can’t I be doing both?” Seokjin huffs, eyebrows furrowed. “Leave me alone.” He sneezes immediately after, and Hoseok grins.
“Bless you.”
Seokjin rolls his eyes, doing nothing to hide his annoyance. "I don't need your blessings, Hoseokie." He wipes his nose on the back of his sleeve. "I need tissues." But even as he says it, he lets out a sigh and leans into Hoseok's embrace when his arm is wrapped around his shoulders.
Another breeze shakes the leaves above them and cherry blossom petals fall around them like snow.
Seokjin sneezes once again.
“Ble–”
“Don’t say it.”
“Alright, alright.” Hoseok chuckles. “Tissues are inside. C’mon, let’s go.”
They make their way inside, and as soon as Seokjin plops himself down at the kitchen table where a box of tissues is waiting for him, he buries his head in his arms with a flurry of sneezes that leave him sniffly and red-faced.
Hoseok sits down next to him and receives a glare in return.
Seokjin sneezes again, this time reaching for a tissue. His eyes and nose are streaming.
Hoseok pushes the tissue box a little closer, reaches out to rub Seokjin’s arm as he lifts the tissue to his red nose.
He’s never seen Seokjin look so grumpy before.
It doesn’t deter him at all. Seokjin’s nostrils flare, and Hoseok pats his shoulder, waiting in anticipation for the sneeze to come out for almost a full minute before it finally explodes out of Seokjin like a cannon.
He smiles sympathetically in the face of Seokjin’s annoyance.
“Bless you!”
feel free to let me know which version is your favorite!

your allergy fics are so good! would you be able to write one with jungkook? any caretaker, with jungkook coming into contact with something he's terribly allergic to but he wants to enjoy (like a bouquet of flowers or a cute kitten idk) and it sets him off sneezing a ton, with a super itchy nose. thank you!
I have plenty of mostly finished projects, but I can't bring myself to post them, so I keep working on new ones, and after months, I finally made one I like!
"Jaykay...Jungkook-ah.. wake up.. we're landing.." Hoseok shakes the mankae when his gentle approach doesn't work. "Jaykay your face is so puffy.." Hoseok smiles fondly, grabbing Jungkook's face and smooshing his face in between his fingers.
Jungkook moans in complaint, his eyes fluttering open to look at Hoseok. "Hyung..what time is it?" he grabs Hoseok's wrist to get him to stop attacking his cheeks, rubbing at his eyes. "It's morning still?"
"It is..Good morning Junggukkie." Hoseok smiles, feeling pride in successfully getting him to start moving. "It's because of the time difference. Remember?"
Jungkook studies his surroundings perplexed before his eyes widen with recognition when the sleep that fogged his memory dissipates, replaced with excitement. "Oh! I know! We're filming a music video!I'm so excited! We're going to be filming by a real waterfall and going to a garden with hundreds of different flowers and we're going to work with birds!" The memory of the meeting floods over him.
"We're going to get amazing photos. I wonder if we'll get to see a real toucan." Taehyung adds in his own excitement, leaning forward to talk to Jungkook.
"Toucan? Do you really think we can see a real one? I've seen videos of them and they don't look real." Hoseok adds in.
"Everyone, please return to your seats and buckle up." The boys hear the announcement, gathering up their things.
"Namjoon-ah do you have everything?" Yoongi asks, placing his tablet into his bag.
"Of course. You gifted me a holder for my passport after that incident in japan.." Namjoon pulls out the passport that was tucked into his shirt.
"That's because we almost couldn't perform.. you're lucky that man found it in the bathroom for you.. What about your headphones?"
Namjoon opens his airpod case, ears reddening when he sees there's only one inside, feeling around his seat until he finds it. "You knew i lost one didn't you hyung.."
"It fell out when you were sleeping." Yoongi smiles, then gasps in surprise when the turbulence hits, clutching onto the armrest, his stomach churning uncomfortably.
"You okay Yoongi?" Jin asks, taking out his headphones when he feels Yoongi's hand brush against his arm.
"I'm okay, my stomach just fluttered.." Yoongi swallows the saliva that filled his mouth, taking a deep breath. "It'll pass.."
"We're almost on the ground, and we'll have a few hours to rest." Jin reassures the daegu rapper, taking his hand.
"Thanks hyungie.." Yoongi speaks softly, squeezing Jin's hand.
"You don't have to thank me. Just take it easy until the shoot okay?" Jin gently runs his thumb across Yoongi's knuckles.
"We landed!" Jungkook says excitedly, unbuckling himself, but Hoseok puts his hand on Jungkook's thigh.
"Let's wait a bit to get off Kook-ah." Hoseok orders gently side eyeing Yoongi, who still hadn't regained the color in his cheeks.
"Yes hyung..." Jungkook settles back in, eyes sparkling. It doesn't matter if I have to wait. I'll be able to film with the birds and see the waterfall and take pretty photos for army.
"Is everyone finished changing?" Namjoon asks, looking over his team, frowning when he notices Jungkook's darker outfit in comparison to everyone else's vibrant colors."Jungkook, that's the wrong outfit..that's for the garden shoot.."
"Aish..I'm sorry Hyung.." Jungkook quickly starts stripping to switch outfits. "Everything looks so pretty from the carride and the hotel view..I got excited.." he casts his eyes down guiltily. I'm not some teenager anymore.. I need to concentrate and not make such rookie mistakes.. I should've noticed I didn't match..
"It's okay, just pay attention from now on, alright? We need to focus on filming. We only have so much daylight with outside shoots." Namjoon rubs Jungkook's back, helping him get changed to make it quicker.
"I'll pay attention from now on.." Jungkook promises shyly looking away from Namjoon. After switching to match the others in the mankae line, the seven boys leave the dressing room, Jungkook fighting the urge to run towards the sound of the waterfall.
Hoseok and Jimin links arms with Jungkook, keeping him at pace with the others. "Calm down Jaykay you don't want to risk getting hurt on this uneven ground before we even get there." Hoseok scolds him gently, leading him around a tree root.
"I'll be careful, sorry hyung.." Jungkook watches his feet carefully stepping over branches and stones that made it on the path. Taehyung and Namjoon walk ahead of them, taking photos of the scenery in front of them. "Why can't I run free with Rapmonie hyung and Taehyungie-hyungie?"
"What? You don't want to walk with me?" Jimin pouts, letting go of Jungkook. "Fine, go play with them."
"I didn't mean it like that Jimin-shii.. I just wanted to go ahead too.." Jungkook relinks his arm with Jimin pulling him and Hoseok to walk ahead with the others.
"Look Hyung! That tree.. it's filled with birds." Jungkook points our, his voice scaring the birds into fleeing in several directions.
"Kook-ah you scared them away." Namjoon frowns, watching them go with disappointment.
"I'm sor..ah..ah.." Jungkook puts his hand over his nose with an itch forms, breath hitching. "Ah..heygifh!"
"[Bless you]" Jimin speaks in English. "You okay? Not catching a cold are you? You did sleep the whole plane ride.."
"No, no I'm okay..my nose just had a bad itch.."Jungkook sniffles, wiping his nose with the side of his hand. "A feather must've tickled my nose or something..I haven't felt sick today."
"I can see the waterfall!" Jin announces, everyone looking forward, trying to spot it through the trees.
"Oh wow, it's bigger than I thought it would be.." Yoongi's eyes widen when he sees it, the boys rushing to get closer.
Jungkook bends down to take a photo of a cluster of flowers,trying to ignore the itch that annoyed the tip of his nose.
"Don't get too close to the water, Jungkook-ah. You need to stay dry for the shoot."
"I won't hyung..I'm just looking at the flowers.." Jungkook's breath hitches when another sneeze builds up, but he gently rubs it away. I can't be getting sick now.. we're spending four days in a tropical paradise.
"Did you get water in your nose Gukkie?" Taehyung asks when he approaches Jungkook, the younger jumping when he sees Taehyung next to him.
"Aish, Hyung you scared me.. I didn't hear you coming over the water. I don't know what's wrong with me, but .ah..agh..heh'ticgish!" Jungkook quickly covers his face, Taehyung grabbing the back of his shirt to keep him balanced. "Ugh. Thanks Taehyungie-hyung. I was fine earlier..I don't know why I'm sneezing all of a sudden.."
"Maybe it's all the flowers.. maybe you should take some medicine just in case.." Taehyung suggests, pulling Jungkook away from them.
"But I want to get some good shots for Army to see." Jungkook whines, but makes no attempt to pull away.
"We have to work now. We can take photos together later, and I can take photos for you if you can't get close." Taehyung promises leading him back to the others. "Is there any way we can get allergy medicine for Jungkook? His nose is getting red and stuffy.."
"I'm sorry, but we would have to go back to the resort for that.. I'll send someone to go get some. Do you think you can film until then Jungkook-sii?" The manager asks.
"Yes, I'll be okay. It's not that bad. It's just an annoyance.. I can still film.." Jungkook replies politely.
A female staff member digs in her purse, handing him a small packet of tissues. "Here Jungkook. Blowing your nose might help."
"Thanks Noona.." he bows, turning away from the others to try to clear his nose of the clear goo. "That's much better.."
As soon as the seven members get their makeup redone and the director gives them their directions, the boys get right to work going through the scenes and choreography.
"Jimin-ah..you weren't looking in the same direction as the others and you led on the wrong foot.." Hoseok scolds him when they were reviewing the clips, noticing Jimin was looking at Jungkook who couldn't stop sniffling, fighting off the urge to sneeze.
"I'm sorry.. can we do it one more time? I'll get it right this time." Jimin bows in apology to his members, looking at Jungkook when he does it. Jungkookie looks uncomfortable..I need to get it right the first time so he can get some time to rest.
Jungkook tries to hold back another sneeze when he sees Jimin's worried gaze staring back at him, but Jimin could see his nose twitching as the itch builds up.
"Noona will be back soon.." Jimin gently uses his thumb to wipe the tear that formed in Jungkook's tear duct. "You don't have to be tough for us, okay?"
"I'm not crying..my eyes are just watering because of my allergies.." Jungkook sniffles. "I'm okay..it's just irrita..ah..itdgitch! Heh'itchu!"
"Bless you.." Hoseok frowns, hugging Jungkook from behind. "My poor baby.."
"Jungkook-sii I got..you the medicine." The staff member who ran to the resort calls to him, out of breath from running back.
Taehyung rushes over to get the medicine from her, popping the blister pack to get the round pink pill for Jungkook, bringing it back to him. "Here Jungkookie, I got it."
"Thanks Hyung." Jungkook swallows the pill Taehyung gives him, Jimin getting him water to help it go down quicker. "Let's do the shoot again."
"You don't want time for it to kick in?” Jin asks, fretting over the youngest.
Jungkook shakes his head."No, I already got us behind schedule with all the touch ups.. I can do it.."
Jungkook and Taehyung rush ahead of the other members despite the older members calling to them,unable to hear them over the sound of the birds.
"Oh wow.. it's so pretty!" Jungkook's pupils take over his irises, his eyes becoming to round black discs, taking in the special guests for their music video. "Oh wow..This one's purple..I never seen a purple bird before!'
"This is [purple honeycreeper.] This one rescue. I thought he would be perfect for you ." The bird handler smiles when he sees the boys look surprised at his Korean skills.
"[Purple honeycreeper..]" Jungkook repeats the name in English. "[What's bird name?]"
"[Ah, right introductions...] I'm Gary and this bird here is Viola."
"Can I touch?" Jungkook asks, ignoring his body's warning. The medicine helped him yesterday, but at the moment he felt just as bad as he did the first day they were filming.
"Hold out finger." Gary tells him, showing Taehyung what to do by getting Viola to go on his finger. "[Step up Viola.]" He gives the command, letting her climb onto his finger.
The other members catch up, taking in the sights of the colorful birds surrounding them.
Jungkook holds his to Viola, gasping when he feels the bird use its beak to balance herself while she climbs onto his finger. "Look Hyung..i'm holding a bird!" Jungkook sniffles, turning to the man. "Can i pet?"
"As long as you only touch her head and neck." Gary gently ordered.
"You can't touch a bird anywhere else or it will think you want to mate." Yoongi tells Jungkook.
Jungkook turns to the handler, who blushes."Ah, that's true. It.. excites them if you touch its wings or chest too much.."
Jungkook nods, gently touching Viola's head, gently ruffling the feathers. Oh no.. not now..
Jungkook quickly places his hand on Taehyung's shoulder, hoping the bird would have a safe escape from the sneezes he could feel coming despite his efforts to hold them back. "Heh'heh..heygifh! Heh'itchu! Higtcvhsgh!"
Viola screeches, flapping her wings in fear jumping off of Jungkook's hand and jumping onto Taehyung's head, trying to get farther from the sound that startled her.
The other birds go into panic at the sound of viola, Hoseok clinging to Namjoon when they take flight.
Jungkook covers his face,trying to muffle the sound, but when the birds take flight the feeling only worsens. "Hehtichih!"
"[Woah, Woah. It's okay Viola.. it's okay..]" Taehyung tries to speak English for the frightened bird, Gary trying to calm his other pets down.
"Somethings wrong you need to get away.." Jin starts leading Jungkook away from the chaos, his heart racing in fear.
I can't breathe..I need to calm down..
Jungkook staggered away from the others, Jin keeping a tight grip on the mankae"Woah Jungkook I got you.."
"Heh..hehitxgh! Heh'itchu! Hey'itchi!" Jungkook let out another flurry of sneezes, holding Jin tightly. It wasn't the flowers..
"Here Jungkookie, look at me.." Jin gently leads his chin up, taking a nasal spray from the bag he was given as an accessory. "I got this just in case.."
"Thanks hyung.." Jungkook sniffles, taking it from Jin. "Heh'itchii! Hey'itchi!" He sneezes as soon as he puts it near his nose only amplifying the itch that plagued his sinuses.
"Here let hyung do it." Jin gently grabs Jungkook's chin, tilting his head upwards. "Try to sit still for me. I'll make it quick..okay?"
Jungkook nods, holding his breath to try to avoid sneezing on Jin as he swiftly sprays the medicine into one nostril than the other.
"Hei' etfhitch! Heh'itchu!" Jungkook's eyes water as he sneezes. "I'm sorry Hyung.."
"It's okay baby.. I know you aren't feeling well." Jin rubs the back of Jungkook's neck. "I think your allergic to birds Jungkookie.."
"I was around birds before..I was fine.." Jungkook sniffles, rubbing at his nose to try to ease the itch that threatened to cause more sneezes to erupt from him.
"You can develop new allergies Kook-ah.. I know how excited you were to play with them, but outside of filming I think you should avoid them." Jin tells him solemnly.
Yoongi goes up to them with a small packet of tissues,giving it to Jungkook. "They got the birds under control, but they want to give them time to fully calm down."
"That's good. I was worried I ruined the...heh..heh.." Jungkook felt the sneeze building, but it was only a false start. "Ruined the music shoot.." he finishes, his voice coming out as a nasally whisper, trying to clear his nose to see if that would ease the discomfort that was making him miserable.
"It's not your fault, Jungkookie. We could always make changes. What's important is that you don't suffer for the shoot. Even if you push through it, army will be able to see how much you're suffering." Yoongi puts his arm around Jungkook, pulling him close.
"I'll go get the others so we can see what our next move is. We'll figure this out together, okay Kookie?" Jin leaves to the filming site.
"Hyung I really wanted to play with the birds.." Jungkook sighs, knowing that all the members would agree with Jin.
"I know. Life sucks.. now you and Jiminie can suffer together." Yoongi teases him lightly, getting a small smile out of Jungkook.

Only fools catch colds
Sickie; Joon
caretaker; Yoongi
a/u - based in that universe where magic and hybrids and all that fun stuff exist, and takes place before any of the other fic's in the universe so we have rm/yoongi roommates living daily life I guess.
No warnings, its all very standard. I don't really know what to label it as..
Purely platonic with the mention of NamJin.
Also did I make Yoongi mildly germophobic - maybe. But read it as you will.
Please enjoy and ignore the usual mistakes! Sorry it's a bit rushed![I am sick and sleep deprived, so it might not be great💀]

Business was slow. Not that anything related to part timing in this half assed antique store was fast, but it was definitely slower than usual. Namjoon had been sitting at the register for the past 2 hours trying to prep materials for potions that he needed to make later and the pounding in his head had yet to ease off despite already having two caffeine fixes since clocking in.
His neck and back ached, most likely from this god-awful stool, and it took all his will power not to text his boyfriend -who unlike him- had a fulltime job and was busy doing ‘proper adulting’ things. So he didn’t really want to disturb Jin, instead he was counting the seconds until Yoongi would arrive to drive them home. He would still technically be on working hours when he goes since he would be brewing potions for clients (a side gig that him and his roommate had recently started up once they’d left the Academy) but at least he’d be at home. Warm, clean, and far more peaceful than any other place he’d ever visited ever since Yoongi spelled the apartment to suppress any unnecessary sounds.
He sighed, taking a moment to massage at his temple even though it didn’t ease any of the pain. He could hear the shop owner rummaging in the back of the store and the sounds of cars and wind bellowing from outside. Everything sounding louder.
He was bagging up the last of his herbs, dusting off the small bits he couldn’t scoop up when he had to pause with a sudden stuttering breath before crunching towards his lap with a surprisingly damp sneeze. Sniffling with a frown, he rubbed his nose once everything was bagged but was unable to relieve the itch that had rapidly buried itself in his sinuses.
The fine dust clinging to some of his ground materials must finally be catching up to him. He didn’t have any allergies, not like how Yoongi reacted to dust, but it still left him irritated at times. Now, apparently , even more so than usual. Just one more thing to go against him today it seems.
The gentle ‘ding’ of the shop door opening had his heart skip with the hope of leaving, but he was only met with a wind tousled customer. The first since he’d replaced his boss in the front that morning. Usually he’d be excited for some new interactions to distract him from how positively boring it can get, but he found himself having to force his smile towards the new face as he watched them casually stroll around the store.
“Namjoon-ah?” His boss called from the small office. “Can you run upstairs to storage and grab some of  the new stock that got sent in? There’s some glassware and other collectables in quite large crates, I forgot to mention it earlier.”
Of course he would be given work right before he wanted to leave.
He quickly shoved his bagged materials into his satchel and moved to the storage room after letting his boss know to keep an eye in the front.
It thankfully wasn’t a lot of work, just seven crates that were a lot heavier than they looked, but he was lucky enough that he didn’t have to shelve and price them as well. That of course did nothing to ease his aching muscles and the irritation that the musky air and dust was causing to his sinuses. By the time he’d reached the last crate, he had been forced to start sniffing and rubbing his nose with his wrist to keep his need to sneeze at bay. The last thing he needed was to sneeze when carrying glass down a flight of stairs – he was clumsy enough as it was.
 He had raced through and made it to the office without too much of a falter, dropping the final crate off before he could finally cave. He stared breathlessly into the sharp florescent light until he pitched forward into a fit of harsh sneezes.
“Dust bothering you?”
Sniffling, he nodded sheepishly at his boss who had peeked their head in. He hadn’t meant for the sneezes to come out quite so aggressively and his throat wasn’t feeling too great after that. His head was also aching a little worse than before… The stuffy air of the store seemed dead set on affecting him today.
“Well, it’s a bit early still but your friend is here already so you can clock out and head home if you want?”
“Are you sure?” He asked, wincing at slight hoarseness seeping into his voice.
“Positive. I can handle the rest, then I’ll see you on Friday again. Get some rest, Namjoon-ah.” His boss smiled. “I know we aren’t always the busiest, but you work hard, you deserve a break sometimes.”
Namjoon had a feeling they were talking about resting from his other work as well, but unfortunately that wasn’t a possibility right now.
“Thanks, I’ll see you on Friday then.” He rushed through signing out and grabbed his bag from behind the counter, just barely seeing Yoongi’s familiar bleached blond hair gradually moving in between the shelves of books in the far corner. The warlock had made it a habit to unconsciously search for spell books whenever he saw a collection of books anywhere, even if Namjoon was sure that nothing the antique store owned had anything to do with magic.
“Hey Yoongi.” He greeted as he found his friend. The warlock blinked, then placed the book he held back on the shelf.
“Hey. The car’s out front, there was actually parking there for once.”
Namjoon was grateful that they at least didn’t have to walk far in the wind. Sure he had dressed for the cold weather but he kind of wanted to avoid any unnecessary factors as much as possible.
“Let’s go. I need to get started on some spells as soon as possible. I have everything bagged and ready.”
That put some more speed into Yoongi as they gave a final wave back to Namjoon’s boss before exiting into the cold and running for the car.
*
It was halfway through the drive home when Yoongi finally couldn’t take it anymore. He had brushed the first few sniffles off as a reaction from the cold, but they had only progressively continued, and he could only take so much.
“Are you getting sick or something?”
“Huh?”
“You. Sick. Are you?” He asked bluntly as he sharply took a corner.
Namjoon shook his head. “I’m fine. I think I breathed in some dust from my dried materials and its been irritating my nose a bit.”
Yoongi arched a brow, sparing the witch a single glance before returning his attention to the road. He didn’t see how it could still be irritating him, but alas, he would drop it. With a single tap of his finger on the wheel, the glove compartment dropped open to reveal all the random scraps of things that he hadn’t bothered to clean out of his car yet.
“There’s tissues in there somewhere. Please blow your nose before you drive me insane.”
The words were abrupt, but Namjoon was familiar enough with the warlock to know that his friend was at least a little concerned. Although, the knowledge didn’t stop him from flushing with embarrassment and sheepishly begin searching through the pages until he found a fresh packet of travel tissues, quickly following through on the demand. It helped a little. Namjoon felt a bit more relieved than he had earlier, but he couldn’t help but question the subtle burn that spread through his sinuses.
Maybe he was getting sick… but that surely wasn’t possible. He was constantly taking health potions to prevent that, so it had to have been something else. He couldn’t be sick... But there was nothing against keeping the tissues a bit closer just in case his materials were to set him off later again.
*
They had barely been home for two hours and Yoongi was already calling the workday a colossal loss. He couldn’t focus on the intricate magic that he needed for some of their commissions when there was a mess of a witch attempting to craft just across the room throwing him off with all his barely muffled noises and bad vibes. Even on the best days they struggled to work in the same space at the same time, but Yoongi’s patience was running thin, and they didn’t have the supplies to waste on failed magic.
He'd asked Namjoon earlier when they had first started working if he was certain that he felt alright because frankly, he was looking a little peaked. And what did that dumb witch respond with? That he was fine. Like a liar.
How was he ‘fine’ when he had started to religiously dab at his nose or clear his throat while brewing. He’d never been bothered by the concoctions before, why would now be any different?
The final straw was the sneeze that had ripped out of the younger. He’d successfully twisted away from his work but unfortunately managed to knock one of his completed potions straight off of his shelf with his elbow. It had shattered with a finality that just could not be ignored any longer.
Yoongi didn’t feel even a little bit bad at the exhausted glare he received when he used his magic to aggressively finger snap his projects back into their organised casings before he stormed from his work desk and out of the room. If Namjoon wanted to lie to himself then fine, but not at the cost of their main source of income. Honestly it would have been smarter for him to rest and let Yoongi do his work first since creating potions and charms didn’t rely as much on energies as it did on the three m’s – ‘materials, methods, and measurements’ – which seemed to embody witchcraft.
But since the witch he had once considered a genius was being too stubborn to see that his symptoms weren’t quite adding up to what he had believed them to be, then Yoongi would just have to be the one to step away to work on a new project. The Kim Namjoon care package.
Step one: to the kitchen Their cupboards were practically bare, with the exception of instant ramen so…
Step one: to the grocery store, and then the kitchen.
*
Namjoon couldn’t remember a time where his head had ever felt so heavy. He had taken a moments break at his workstation to just rest his chin in the palm of his hand while his next batch of potions brewed and now he didn’t think he’d be able to lift it when the necessary moment arrived. He would have most likely fallen asleep if it hadn’t been for the slamming of their front door a little while back – Yoongi must have returned from wherever he had run off too.
Yet that still didn’t help him in trying to finish his work. It was as if his energy was being suctioned out of his body and was being replaced with the burning desire close his eyes and succumb to dreams or to fight losing battles against his increasingly irritated sinuses and need to find tissues. He hadn’t, obviously. That would mean he’d need to get up and that only returned I’m to his first problem at hand. So he’d been using his shirts sleeve to lazily wipe or shield his work from any mess, and his nose not very forgiving for it. He didn’t need to look at his rippling reflection in his potion to know that his nose had taken on deep pink hue, that was only reddening further with each sniffle.
This definitely wasn’t a lingering effect of some allergy or dust, and he wasn’t looking forward to annoyed ‘I knew it’ face when he finally admitted defeat. Not that the warlock would rub it in, but Namjoon didn’t particularly like not being right – especially about himself. Which is why he had continued working even when he knew he should most likely stop, Soekjin had always teased him about his fragile pride. Well his boyfriend probably wouldn’t tease him now. Tell him off and completely isolate him from anything productive? That seemed more likely.
Namjoon gave a half-hearted groan and shifted enough to be able stir the gradually thickening solution. He couldn’t quite remember if this was one that was supposed to be a thick consistency, but he sure hoped so. Or else this was going to be all for nothing. He readied his glass jars and then waited a few more minutes before pulling himself to his feet and giving the potion one final stir.
The pairing of the sharply sweet scent and constant wave of steam was making a mess of him. Namjoon had failed to turn away or cover a few too many times at this point but – as unprofessional as this may be – he just couldn’t bring himself to care anymore. His sniffling didn’t stop his nose from running like a faucet as he moved with great effort to try and fill the jars without spilling too much, and even that was asking too much. One surprise sneeze mid pour was all it took for a bit of his potion to seep over the brim of a jar and splatter onto his desk and floor. Another had him knocking over one of the full bottles, then there were hands taking pot and fussily pushing him away into his chair.
Namjoon sneezed the third and – hopefully – final time into his sleeved palms, sniffling deeply and only then looking up to see Yoongi finishing off the bottling with precise ease. He’d made a huge mess, not only of himself but also of their small workspace. The bottle that he had pushed off managed to splatter widely across the floor, even creeping into Yoongi’s side of the room, joining the previous potion he’d knocked off earlier, and his worktable hadn’t been such a mess since his academy days. He was making rookie mistakes.
“What exactly were you trying to make here Joon?” Yoongi muttered, squinting with disgust at the gloopy, pale mixture as he sealed them all. He tried his best to avoid getting any mess on himself but there wasn’t much he could do to avoid it at this point.
The witch wiped at his aching nose with whatever embarrassment he could gather. “Id’s su’posed to increhh’H’NXGSHH – ugh, increase confidence and suh-ahh.. snfff. Success rades.”
“Raids?”
“Rades.” Namjoon muffled a cough and rolled his eyes. “I’m congesded, shud up.”
Yoongi didn’t even try to hold back his chuckle. Sure this had all escalated into something annoying and he still thought it would have gone better if Namjoon had just been honest from the beginning, but it was still a little funny. In the delusional mess of things.
“To be honest Joon,” Yoongi gave everything a once over, finally settling on the poor state of his friend. “I think the only thing this batch is going to be successful for is maybe purposely getting someone sick. Its not the same as the previous ones you’ve made, its not even the same colour.”
Namjoon sighed; he wasn’t  surprised. “I did sdeeze in id more than I should have.”
“That is disgusting. Please leave this house immediately.”
He was sure Yoongi had meant it to be at least a little humorous, but he just didn’t have the energy to laugh along. Everything ached and he just wanted to close his eyes and wake up once everything was over and gone.
“Hey, hey. Don’t go to sleep here, seriously.” Yoongi shook him into awareness, wincing at having to be breathing in his friends germs. He grabbed Namjoon’s arm and led him carefully around the mess of potion and glass and out of the room. “I made you some soup, but I think you should take a bath first. I feel like I should take a bath. My skin is crawling just looking at you.”
Yoongi barely made out the muttered apology as he shoved Namjoon into their tiny bathroom. “Don’t apologise. Just get better, you know I don’t do well at this whole ‘sick’ thing.” Although he definitely handled it a lot better than he used too.
Yoongi got to work on running a bath, making sure to drop a health potion as well as some menthol dissolvent that Soekjin had made them buy ages ago the last time one of them was sick. He tried to drown out the sounds of Namjoon blowing his nose or coughing into his hand by focusing on the water and his tasks, but he still felt like he needed to disinfect himself. Probably their whole apartment at this point.
“Okay, I’m going to leave it to you.” He switched off the water, stood up and turned to his friend who was looking even more pitiful in the bright light. “Just check the temperature, I think it can go warmer, but I need to go clean our workshop before it becomes a hazzard. I’ll go fetch you some new clothes as well, so just hop in, okay?” He gave Namjoon a once over. “Do you need my help getting undressed?”
“Dno.” Namjoon slowly dragged his shirt off, over his head. He shivered at the open air on his skin but otherwise seemed awake enough to handle himself.
“Okay, well. Scream if you need me.”
*
It had taken longer than he had wanted to clean up the mess his friend had made, but they had made it a rule to not use their magic or craft in each other’s immediate workspaces. It probably wouldn’t even make much of a significant difference, but Yoongi wasn’t going to go against the rules they’d laid down when they’d first moved in together. Space was limited so it was best to respect it no matter the circumstances. It definitely hadn’t been fun though.
If he never touched that potion another day in his life it would be too soon. He’d left the bottles on Namjoon’s shelf after marking them as unusable with his reasoning being a simple “contaminated” and receded immediately to the kitchen sink to scrub the residual potion from his hands. The mixture probably wouldn’t have any effect on him, but he preferred not to think about how much of it had already seeped into his skin. He was already mapping out a lengthy lecture to give his roommate as soon as he was feeling better – although he had a feeling he wouldn’t get very far in the delivery before Namjoon’s boyfriend would but in like some type of defence lawyer. Jin had a weird way of knowing when his attitude was needed, even in the most unserious of events.
“Yoongi?”
He turned his head enough to see Namjoon sleepily pad into the kitchen, clothed in the fresh pyjamas and extra sweater Yoongi had slipped through to him earlier. The witch was a bit worse for wear, almost a complete 180 from the collected Namjoon Yoongi had said goodbye to that morning before Namjoon had left for work.
“You’re alive, colour me surprised.” Yoongi smiled, wiping off his hands on a dish towel before moving on to get some bowls. “I made seaweed soup with some rice, then you should probably take some medicine and go sleep this off.”
Namjoon nodded, not up for any real conversation as he slumped onto the couch that served entirely as their living room and dining area. And honestly, Yoongi didn’t blame him.
Once he was finished dishing up the food, he set the bowls down in Namjoon’s lap and pulled a small table closer in case he needed to put them on a more stable surface at some point. Then with a wave of his hand – the burst of warm magic surging through him both soothing and energising – he materialised one of their thicker blankets and some of the new softer tissues that he preferred and dumped them on the seat next to the witch.
 “You made my mom’s soup.” Namjoon sniffed as he sipped at the broth and Yoongi hoped that it was mostly because of the steam. He couldn’t deal with a sentimental witch on top of a sick one. Especially if they were one in the same.
“It’s good soup.” Yoongi said bluntly, finally sitting down with his own bowl. Then added while handing out some tissues for the younger to take. “I thought it would make you feel better.”
 That brought a small smile to Namjoon’s lips as he replaced his bowl with the much-needed tissues. Already catching hot breath palm as he felt the tell-tale signs of a sneeze coming on. “You’re the best, hyung.”
Yoongi wasn’t quite sure, but as long as Namjoon finally took the time to rest and stopped spreading accidental chaos, then he was calling it a win.

Okay yall. I quit trying to make this perfect. I'm well aware it's a little rough around the edges, and I'm also well aware not everyone will like it. Nonetheless, here’s my community service to the sickie bangtan lovers for this year <3
Drabble fic is below the cut. Thanks for waiting patiently! I truly hope you enjoy this pure indulgence lmao.
Title: one stormy night
Word count: 2.2k
Ship: namjinkook - caretakers namjin, sickie jungkook
Tropes: sickfic, fluff, lil bit of snz, basic flu symptoms (the good stuff ya know)
Set in a random AU where Namjin are lovers who own a small shop, Jin is a healer, Namjoon is a mage, and Jungkook is just struggling, ill stranger who manages to fall head over heels in love with his saviors, whilst namjin also fall hard lol.
Seokjin was startled abruptly at the sound of the iron knocker pounding the front door, pausing his job of drawing the drapes for the evening. He and his lover, Namjoon, shared a small cottage in the middle of the woods that was outfitted into a potion shop for the neighboring villagers.
It was well passed their closing time, and Jin knew they didn’t have any appointments on file this late in the day. His stomach clenched with nerves as his gaze shifted to his husband’s usual position by the hearth. “I’ll get the door,” he softly said, making his way over to gently coax Namjoon back down to sit in the armchair. “You had a lot of spells today. Rest a while, I can handle this.”
It was getting late, he was exhausted from a long day’s work, and he didn’t know who was pounding on the door. It would be easy to become frustrated and get rid of whoever beckoned them, but Jin wasn’t heartless. It was storming outside, and maybe someone needed help. The healer in him wouldn’t let someone in need fend for themselves, and he would much rather waste some time than have regrets in his consciousness.
Pulling his evening robes further across himself to help defend the evening chill, Jin released the deadlock and the binding spell on the door, cautiously opening it a crack to peer outside. An unfamiliar silhouette greeted him, though it was difficult to perceive little else due to the heavy rainfall.
“Good evening, stranger,” Jin’s eyes ghosted over the heavily soaked man before him, an oversized hood covering his features dripping rapidly as the rain continued to pour down relentlessly. “I’m afraid we haven't met before, is there something I can do for you?”
“Please,” came the drenched strangers’ reply. “I’m just trying to make it to eastern lands.” Jin took mental note of the thick rasp and nasally tone in his voice. “I just need a roof to block this storm for an hour or so. I’m very weary from traveling.” The stranger didn’t make any move to invade their cottage of his own volition, and he was leaning heavily against their meager porch post for support to stay upright.
The poor dear. Squinting in a fruitless attempt to see better through the storm, Jin took note of the stranger’s trembling frame, his soaked clothing underneath the heavy travel cloaks, and the poorly fitted boots on his feet. He’s been traveling for a long while, weeks at the very least.
“You’re welcome to come in and dry off for as long as you need,” a soft smile adorned Jin’s features as he reached out to help support the traveler’s weak frame for the short distance inside. “We haven’t got much to offer in means of transportation to the east, but you must at least rest here a while. You’re soaked through.” A familiar pang of sympathy pulsed through his heart.
Jin’s own clothing was becoming rather damp just holding the stranger’s underarms, it couldn’t have been comfortable in the slightest to travel through this disastrous weather heavily weighed down by wet cloaks.
At the sound of the door shutting behind them, Namjoon stood up abruptly, eyes narrowed skeptically onto the hooded stranger, but he made no move to turn him away either. Jin nodded in silent thanks for his husband’s trust, as the two made their way slowly across the foyer. "A traveler needs a place to rest tonight. Help me tend to him, Joonie?"
Catching him by surprise as he was speaking, Jin nearly tripped over himself when the stranger suddenly bent over, a series of thick, painful coughs erupting from deep within his chest. As he fought to pull in a deep breath, Jin gently tugged back his hood to better inspect the ailments plaguing him.
And - oh. What an absolute darling. The gentle scrunch of his nose, the soft doe eyes crinkled in irritation as the worst of the coughing fit passed. His cheeks were flushed from the cold air, and the fringe of his bangs dripped with rain water as they hung in front of his eyes. He was beautiful. Jin had only ever had eyes for Namjoon, but the sweet one before him brought up emotions bubbling within that he had not felt before. He always did get attached easily.
No matter though, he had a job to do, and the stranger needed medical attention regardless of his mysterious beauty. Jin was a professional, and he would tend to whatever ailment was present.
“That cough sounds awful, dear,” Jin spoke softly as he made to undo the poorly tangled cloak ties. “You can call me Jin-hyung, what would you like me to call you?”
“Jungkook is my name,” the little one managed to rasp out and Jin hardly concealed a wince at the painful sound of crackling phlegm in his throat. “I don’t mind what you call me though. I don’t have any means to pay, I’m sorry.”
Jungkook’s eyes were glistening with unshed emotion, and he was sniffling thickly, pawing at his nose and eyes desperately in obvious irritation.
Another pang of sympathy shot through Jin’s heart at the sight of tears, but before he could utter another word, Namjoon was already stepping around him to help Jungkook settle into an empty cot by the healer’s table. Jin easily recognized the look in the mage’s eyes as one of empathy and adoration. They were both so utterly hopeless.
“That’s quite alright, Jungkookie, you needn’t worry about such affairs,” Namjoon spoke in a soft whisper. “You can call me Namjoon hyung. Just lie back, and we will take good care of you. I promise.”
A mixed array of confusion and relief flooded Jungkook’s sweet features, and he blinked several times, allowing a few stray tears to trickle down his cheeks. “Thank you hyungs, I’m afraid I’m not well,” he briefly paused speaking as his breathing caught roughly, a small trembling hand still rubbing harshly at his nose. “It’s been weeks and this head cold just isn’t going away. My travels have just made everything w-worse…oh…e-excuse me,” His lovely eyelids fluttered shut, as several productive sneezes ripped out of his chapped nose, chest heaving wildly in a desperate attempt to quell his breathing back to normal. Jungkook let out a shuttering sigh afterward, teary eyes darting away from the healer every so shyly. “Pardon me, please. I can’t seem to stop sneezing.”
“Oh sweetheart,” Jin cooed gently, reaching out to wipe his messy nose with a handkerchief. “Sounds like a little more than a nasty cold to me. I’m a trained healer, and Namjoonie here is a mage. I’ll check you over and see if we can’t get some medicine and hot soup into you by the end of the hour.” His gentle, calculated hands were tenderly pulling Jungkook’s soaked downshirt off, Namjoon already having started freeing him of his trousers.
“We need to get you out of these wet clothes and bundled up to dry by the fire,” Jin wrapped a soft, cotton towel around Jungkook’s trembling frame, and the relief on his face was so genuinely innocent, that he felt his own emotions stirring up. “Joonie, dear, if you wouldn’t mind putting the kettle to boil, fetching me some blankets and a clean nightshift, please.”
Jungkook was finding it harder to pay attention to Jin’s words than it should’ve been. Time seemed to slow down as he lost the ability to function properly. His breathing was becoming labored and that ever-present aching in his chest was becoming a harsh sting now. When did it get so warm? Or was it cold? He couldn’t tell anymore.
He had begun to slouch so low into himself, and his eyes were starting to close tiredly. Jin gently pressed the back of his hands to Jungkook’s cheeks and neck, humming softly at the detection of his obvious temperature. The poor dear, so very exhausted from traveling ill. “It’s quite alright if you fall asleep now, sweetheart. Just lie back down, I’ll wake you when I have medicine for you to take.”
As if by order of Jin’s permission, Jungkook’s consciousness slowly slipped into a light doze, long past the point of exhaustion. His breathing evened down to labored short puffs of stuffy air, nose scrunched up ever so sweetly into a sleepy, ticklish expression. It only had been movements, but Jin’s heart was entirely stolen.
At the younger’s slip into a fitful sleep, Jin made quick work of checking his vitals, throat, nose, and ears - getting a specific reading on his rising temperature, a worrying one, no less. Namjoon was back a few moments after he finished pulling a thick comforter up over Jungkook’s sleeping form.
“Water just started boiling hyung,” he whispered as he placed a stack of wool blankets and a silken shift on the armchair. “Want me to fill a basin of hot water and get some ailment tea brewed?”
Jin’s eyes softened even further at his lover, unable to look stressed even in the face of the ill young one beside himself. “That would be lovely, Joonie, thank you. Help me dress him first?”
-------------------------------------------------------
Jungkook’s head felt heavy, dizzyingly so. There was also a nauseating spin of the room from lying horizontally as his ill body fought to stay sleeping. He didn’t know how long he’d been dozing off, time was passing unawares to him, though it didn’t feel near long enough before his consciousness was slipping back in. An irritating tickle was forming deep in his sinuses, whilst, unfortunately, his little nose scrunches were doing little to fight back. Having no wherewithal to cover, Jungkook released a flurry of wet, desperate sneezes into the firm chest next to him.
“Oh Jungkookie,” Namjoon softly cooed from above. “Blessings, you sound so poorly.” He was poorly, what a gods sent gift the hyungs shop was nearby. Sniffling desperately to contain the productive wetness that was now beneath his nose, Jungkook felt his eyes well up once more.
“My handkerchief is wet.” He whined softly, words muffled into the sweet hyung cradling him. He needed something to cover with, he needed to sneeze again. And what a tragedy it was indeed because the tickle persisted despite the fit he had just released previously. Damn, his ever-sensitive nose. Always getting in the way of comfort.
“I can’t blow my nose… and I need to…” He trailed off breathily, already starting to work his way into a hitch. A shuffling of movement briefly distracted his gasping speech, as his face was suddenly covered in a warm, large bundle of soft fabric. “Here, sweetie. All yours.” Jungkook felt Namjoon’s deep voice reverberate through his whole being, though perhaps that was also the fever chills shaking him through.
Noting he was now pressed against bare skin, not a cotton downshirt, his brain fumbled to keep up with the fact that he was presently leaking tears and mucus all over Namjoon’s shirt. He wasn’t thinking, the logical part of his brain long past gone, in the throes of his current predicament. If he had been, perhaps the prospect of using another man’s shirt in lieu of a handkerchief would’ve been embarrassing. One he had scarcely just met, no less. But he didn’t even have time for that. His eyes were watering, mouth falling open in desperate breaths, his nose burning ever so badly as it teased his need for release. Instead of granting him relief, though, the hitching just made him cough harshly, once again, all over Namjoon.
“Let’s get you in some dry clothes, sweetie,” Namjoon muttered, gently combing his hands through the young man’s hair. “I have a nice, warm nightshift right here for you.”
All Jungkook could seem to muster out was a small moan in response, shaky and once again, hitched, as he pawed at his nose in sleepy annoyance. “I know Jungkookie, almost there. I’m sorry, I know it’s chilly. Just gotta get this over your head now…there we go, left arm first, good boy.“ Was that Jin’s voice now? The feeling of cold air fading into warm silk on his skin caused a raspy whine to come out of his mouth before his thoughts even caught up. “It’s okay, it’s okay. All done.” Definitely Jin.
Despite the warm, dry clothing covering him now, chills racked his body relentlessly. It didn’t take but a few more hitching breaths before his face scrunched up in a defeated flurry of congested sneezes. “Bless you, little one. Come on, blow for me,” Jin whispered from his left, the down shirt coming back up to cover most of his face. Jungkook was ever obedient though, so he managed to huff out a thick blow at Jin's discretion. Gods this shirt was going to be so gross. Poor Namjoon. “There we go, all better. Good job, Jungkookie.” For someone whose shirt was now a makeshift hanky, Namjoon’s voice sounded awfully pleased with him.
A flush dusted his cheeks as he glanced up at both men in pure adoration, one not having to do with his fever. But the hyungs didn’t need to know that. Soft wool blankets were quickly wrapped around his shoulders, and he let out a relieved sigh when his feet were placed in a basin of hot water. The trembling didn’t stop, nor did the deep aches in his body, but the sudden warmth and Namjoon and Jin’s presence were enough to let him doze off for a while. He was safe. And for now, that was enough.

drabble prompt: namjoon catching a cold and being self conscious and embarrassed every time someone brings it up. someone (maybe yoongi?) firmly tells him it's not a big deal and that he should just get tf over it and accept their help. (also lots of snz please lol <3)
Thank you for the request! I’m so excited to post but also super nervous!! I hope you guys like this short little thing.
Drabble #1:
“hH’nNGKt!”
Namjoon whips his body away from the table and crumples into his hands, very aware of the pause in conversation around him. He stays in this position a moment, hesitant to sit back up just in case he —
“nN’GKt!”
—does it again. He blows out a breath and drags his hands down his face with a wet sniffle, rising back up in defeat. He doesn’t want to draw attention to himself, but knows it’s inevitable. He braces himself for the other’s comments.
“Hyung, you alright?”
It’s Jungkook, because of course it’s Jungkook. Namjoon opens his mouth to respond but before he can get a single word out Yoongi is speaking instead.
“Sounds like he’s caught a cold.” Yoongi mumbles nonchalantly, “nothing serious.”
Namjoon instantly flushes. He had been prepared to brush Jungkook off, insist he was fine, and most definitely not let on to feeling under the weather…but clearly his hyung had other plans. He flaps his mouth open and closed, too taken off guard to retaliate — he’s not even sure how Yoongi clued in so fast in the first place. Was he that obvious?
“Oh, really?” This time it’s Jimin. “Namjoon-hyung, why didn’t you say something? We could have postponed this.” He gestures vaguely towards the meeting table and the other members.
“Uh,” Namjoon finds his voice again and clears his throat, very aware of everyone’s gaze focused curiously on him. “I’m really…” He trails off as his nose once again buzzes urgently, causing an involuntary gasp of breath. Betrayed by his body for the second time, Namjoon twists away from the group and sneezes much harder into his awaiting hands.
“hH’TTSHhhiue!”
“Namjoon-ah.” The leader winces at the sound of Yoongi’s even-toned voice as he stays ducked down into his hands. “It’s alright. Let’s try this again next week.”
There are hums of agreement as Namjoon flushes redder still, rising back up to meet the concerned glances of his groupmates.
“…Fine.” Namjoon sighs with a sniffle. He’s defeated, embarrassed, and just wants to go home. “I’ll let the staff know. Sorry, everyone.”
Yoongi rises from his seat with a stretch and makes his way to Namjoon, placing a hand down onto the leader’s shoulder. “No, I’ll let them know. You are going back to bed. We’ll see you guys next week.”

Prompt: Namjoon is clumsy on a good day, but when he’s sick it’s a whole problem. He comes down with a sneezy cold and everything goes wrong: He knocks the box of tissues off the table when he’s reaching for them mid sneezing fit, keeps almost crashing into things (and other members) because he’s trying to sneeze and walk at the same time, and at one point he sneezes so hard he headbutts a door frame. Seokjin follows Namjoon around with tissues and tries to keep him from hurting himself and everyone else.

The Voice of a Leader (2/3)
Title: The Voice of a Leader
Word Count: 3236
Summary: Namjoon works through feeling like shit until he can’t any more.
Sickie: Namjoon
Caretakers: OT7
A/N: Written for this request
There is one short non-graphic instance of vomiting in this chapter
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3
Namjoon grabs his soft fleece blanket he usually keeps draped over the back of his desk chair before he goes out into the living room, wrapping it around his shoulders to combat the sudden chill that runs through him.
A sneeze sneaks up on him right as he nears the end of the hallway, and he’s barely able to lift the blanket to his face before it explodes out of him, so abrupt and wet that he feels the result of not covering his mouth and nose in time as a mist settles over his right arm.
Gross. So, so gross.
As he recovers from the disgusting, disorienting sneeze, shaking his head and blinking against watery eyes, he hears a soft, “Bless you, hyung!”
Jungkook is staring at him over the back of the couch, eyes wide with worry.
“Thanks, Koo,” he murmurs, walking the rest of the way into the living room. He sits down in the spot next to Jungkook, feeling completely embarrassed by the way the younger man is staring at him in concern.
“Jiminie hyung picked out the movie,” Jungkook whispers before snuggling up against his side, a giant bowl of popcorn cradled in his lap.
Namjoon tenses when Jungkook leans so heavily against him, but he forces himself to relax when Jungkook leans his head on his shoulder with a contented sigh. He realizes that Jungkook is a nice, cozy warmth against him, and it puts him at ease to have him cuddled up so affectionately.
Fortunately, the painkillers finally kick in about ten minutes into the movie, which is when Jungkook lifts his head from Namjoon’s shoulder and leans close to his ear.
“Want some popcorn?” He offers sweetly, and Namjoon is both shocked and touched because it’s Jungkook’s popcorn– a giant bowl that he usually devours completely by himself despite it being twice the amount of what the others share between the six of them.
He’s honored, honestly, so he takes a handful when Jungkook tips the bowl toward him, tossing it into his mouth without a second thought even though he’s not at all hungry.
The popcorn irritates his throat before he’s even finished swallowing it, making him cough until Seokjin appears in front of him with a glass of water.
“Thanks,” he croaks, blushing when he sees the movie is paused. “Sorry. You didn’t have to stop the movie.”
Seokjin ignores him. “I’m getting drinks from the kitchen, who wants what?” He glances at Namjoon. “I can brew some tea or something.”
“How about hot cocoa instead?” Taehyung suggests hopefully, and Seokjin laughs.
“Hot cocoa it is.”
Seokjin disappears into the kitchen. He soon comes back with a few beverages– a Sprite for Hoseok, water for Jimin and Jungkook– and then he goes to the kitchen and returns a few minutes later carrying a tray with four steaming mugs on it. He passes one out to each Yoongi, Taehyung and Namjoon and keeps the last for himself.
It feels nice to sip on the hot cocoa, and Namjoon feels it soothe his throat from where the popcorn had irritated it. Jungkook eats the rest of his popcorn long before Namjoon is finished with his drink, so when he sets his mug down on the coffee table Jungkook is waiting to latch onto him, wrapping his arms around his waist and resting his head against his chest.
“Comfy?” Namjoon chuckles when Jungkook yawns into the front of his shirt.
“Very,” Jungkook replies.
Between the warmth in his belly and the warmth of Jungkook on top of him, Namjoon finds himself growing very sleepy very quickly. Each time Jungkook yawns, it triggers a yawn for him too, and soon his cheek is resting on top of Jungkook’s head, his own head feeling too heavy to hold up. He feels warm, almost hot, but not enough that he wants to move, and before the movie is even halfway through he can feel himself nodding off.
Soon, Namjoon is so tired that he can’t keep his eyes open a second longer, and he falls asleep sitting up, only vaguely aware of Jungkook reaching up and rubbing soft circles on his chest as he drifts off.
*
Namjoon is shaken awake what feels like five minutes later by Hoseok, whose face is so close to his that it makes his eyes hurt when he tries to focus on him. They’re the only two left out in the living room, the room dark and quiet. The only light in the room is coming from the dimmed lamp in the corner.
“Huh? Time is it?” He asks, feeling entirely confused about where he is and why his mouth and throat are so dry– almost painfully so– and why his sinuses are prickling the way that happens sometimes when he’s around too much dust.
He coughs once, bringing a fist up to scrub at his eyes, then his nose. Suddenly, Hoseok leans far back, almost flinching. Namjoon is about to question why when the prickling sensation in his nose intensifies and a sneeze barrels out of him, tearing through his throat.
“Sorry,” he rasps, coughing once and dragging his forearm under his nose. “Fuck.”
Hoseok is back in his space, his brows furrowed and his lips pursed. He touches Namjoon’s forehead with his fingertips, carding his hands through his short hair afterward. “Bedtime,” he says, sounding pretty cheerful for someone who looks so worried.
Namjoon ducks away from his hand and pushes himself up off the couch. He still feels like he’s half asleep. When he stands, his legs shake and his stomach flip-flops, and he can’t help the faint whimper that escapes his lips.
“Joon?” Hoseok says, a soft inquiry that conveys his concern, but Namjoon can’t make himself look over.
“Bedtime,” he manages to say. “Yeah. I’m gonna head to bed.” He swallows thickly, heart pounding as he pushes the sensation down and wills himself to make it to his bedroom without Hoseok noticing or worrying more about him than he already is.
And as soon as he gets to his room, he shuts the door and nearly collapses on his bed without bothering to change into pajamas first, and promptly passes out.
*
When Namjoon’s alarm goes off on Saturday morning, he jerks awake, a tangle of limbs and sheets as he twists around to try to find his phone.
He manages to silence his alarm, and then he sits there for a moment, looking down at his clothes from yesterday that he’s still wearing in confusion. As he scrubs at his eyes and tries to remember the night before, he stares down at the phone, reading the calendar notification for a meeting in one hour with a growing sense of dread. So much for a day off to sleep in. He can’t believe he nearly forgot about his Saturday morning meeting that had been scheduled, and he’s grateful he remembered to set the alarm days ago.
Namjoon sighs and tries to resist the urge to climb back under the covers and fall back asleep. His cheeks are hot but the rest of him feels cold, and there’s a headache just behind his eyes. For some reason, his nose is a bit stuffy, and as he clears his throat he wonders if he slept with his mouth open or snored the whole night with the way it feels so dry.
The whole time he’s getting ready, Namjoon feels disoriented. He puts on clothes, adding an extra sweater to combat the chill that’s enveloping his whole body, and then brushes his teeth and splashes cold water on his face. Before he leaves the bathroom, he decides to take a painkiller, and then he spends one more minute staring in horror at his reflection in the mirror because he honestly looks like shit. It both looks and feels as though he got two hours of sleep instead of seven.
When he exits the bathroom and makes his way down the hall, he sees that only Yoongi and Taehyung are awake, eating breakfast together in the kitchen.
“Morning,” Yoongi says, smiling at him, but Taehyung gasps.
“What happened to you?” He asks, looking at Namjoon with a mixture of surprise and concern in his expression. “Did you get any sleep last night?”
“Rude,” Namjoon says– or, he tries to, but it comes out as a hoarse whisper that makes Taehyung’s eyes widen even further.
“Are you going somewhere?” Yoongi asks, a little more subtle with his concern but now looking at Namjoon with a frown.
Namjoon sighs. “Work,” he tries to say. He clears his throat several times, but when he attempts to answer again his voice doesn’t sound much better. “Sorry,” he croaks. “I think I talked a lot yesterday.”
“You talk a lot every day,” Taehyung says, eyeing Namjoon as he goes back to his cereal.
“Isn’t that an optional meeting?” Yoongi asks. “You should skip it.”
But Namjoon can’t just skip it. He feels like he’s expected at meetings like this whether it’s explicitly stated or not, and he doesn’t want to disappoint anyone by not showing up.
Instead of responding, Namjoon fills a glass with water and gulps it down, hoping to clear the frog in his throat before he has to head to the meeting. He glances down at his watch, resigns himself to the fact that his voice might be a little hoarse for the day, and then drinks one more glass of water before he heads out the door.
*
Namjoon’s voice is completely gone by the time he gets home.
The thing is– he doesn’t remember how he got home, only that he’s here now and that he feels like he could collapse as he unlocks the front door.
In the entryway, he looks down at his shoes and tries to judge if he’ll be able to take them off without bedding down, and then stumbles as soon as he takes a step, barely catching himself on the wall. He squeezes his eyes shut, swallowing thickly and trying to regain his sense of balance.
“Why are you hugging the wall?” A voice behind him asks.
Namjoon cracks one eye open. Jimin approaches him, and he reaches out, his palm settling between Namjoon’s shoulder blades. His hand moves up, cupping the back of Namjoon’s neck before he slides it up to his cheek.
“Oh my goodness, you’re burning up!” Jimin gasps. “Seokjinnie hyung!” He calls, turning his head towards the hallway. “Yoongi hyung!”
Seokjin gets there first, and before Namjoon can process what’s going on he and Jimin are on either side of him, guiding his arms over their shoulders and leading him down the hallway towards his bedroom. He feels like he’s weighed down by sandbags and the only thing that’s keeping him upright is their support.
They lead him to sit on his bed and Jimin kneels down in front of him, sliding his shoes and then his socks off his feet.
“Oh,” Namjoon croaks. He can’t believe he wore his shoes through the house and didn’t take them off when he got home, but now the memory of getting home is too hazy and he’s confused.
Seokjin reaches down and grabs the hem of his sweater, tugging it up until Namjoon lifts his arms. He pulls it over his head and tosses it onto the end of the bed.
“Should we take his pants off too?” Jimin asks.
Namjoon feels a whine building in his chest as he begins to protest, knowing that he’ll be cold if they take all of his clothes, but his voice seems to be done and nothing comes out.
Yoongi comes in then, holding a blister packet of medicine, a fever patch, a thermometer and a cool cloth folded over lengthwise.
“What symptoms does he have?” Yoongi asks, and Namjoon opens his mouth to reply only to realize that he’s asking Jimin and Seokjin, not him.
“He has a fever,” Jimin answers. “He’s burning up and he almost passed out when he got home!”
Suddenly, everyone is in his room, crowding around the bed as they all chime in.
“He didn’t eat dinner last night,” Hoseok tells them.
“I was suspicious he might have a cold,” Seokjin adds. “He was sneezing last night and I suggested he take cold medicine, but I don’t think he ever did.”
“Oh, that’s why his breathing sounded so stuffy last night,” Jungkook realizes. “I thought he felt a little warm, too. And he was really tired. He never falls asleep during movie night.”
“He looked so awful this morning,” says Taehyung. “Maybe he has the flu?”
“How did he get so bad so quickly?” Hoseok asks, frowning.
Yoongi drags a hand down his face. “I don’t think it was very quick. I think he’s just been hiding it.”
Namjoon scoffs. The sound comes out hoarse and it makes him cough. He can’t believe they’re all standing around talking about him like he’s not there while he shivers on his bed. And he hasn’t been hiding anything. He tries to make his unhappiness known by coughing again, but then he can’t stop.
His head is too heavy and every cough hurts as it seems to reverberate throughout his skull. After a few moments, the coughing fit gets more intense and his stomach lurches, each cough making his abdomen clench uncomfortably and his ribs ache. Suddenly, no one is talking about him anymore and everyone is listening to him cough, and Seokjin– who has always been good at anticipating things– scrambles to grab the small trash can from under Namjoon’s desk.
He gets the trash can up to Namjoon’s face just in time for him to get sick, both hands braced on his knees as he hunches forward and half-coughs, half-vomits up the meager contents of his stomach.
“There you go,” Seokjin whispers soothingly as it subsides, rubbing Namjoon’s back. “Better out than in, yeah? Think you’re all done?”
Namjoon’s entire body is trembling. He nods his head, and Seokjin stays for a few moments longer, rubbing his back before he stands to go clean the trash can out, Yoongi following him from the room. Hoseok takes his place, rubbing soft circles between his shoulder blades.
When he tries to talk, nothing comes out but a raspy squeak and his throat is so inflamed it sends a sharp jolt of pain when he swallows. He looks over at Hoseok in surprise at the state of his voice, and sees Hoseok wince in sympathy.
“Okay, obviously don’t talk. You need to rest your voice. You can text us or write it down if you need something,” he says, patting Namjoon’s pocket where his phone is.”Why don’t we get you changed into some more comfortable pants and you can lie down for a bit?”
Namjoon tries to answer, but again nothing really comes out, and he clutches at his throat when the action makes it throb with pain. He swallows gingerly and allows Hoseok to help him change into pajama pants.
Meanwhile, the others make quick work of setting up his nightstand with an array of items; his phone, a glass of water, a box of tissues, the medicine and thermometer are all placed within reach. Namjoon gets under the covers and lets them fuss over him for a minute, squeezing his eyes shut against another wave of nausea and shivering when he feels something cool against his forehead. He cracks open one eye and is met with Yoongi’s intensely worried frown as he smoothes a fever patch over his forehead.
“Make sure you keep drinking plenty of water,” Yoongi says when he realizes Namjoon is looking at him. He straightens, reaching out to pull the covers up to Namjoon’s chin. “I’ll find you something light to eat with the medicine.”
“Who do you want to cuddle with first?” Taehyung asks, standing next to Yoongi and helping him get comfortable under his blanket.
The question makes Namjoon feel a pang of guilt. Now that he’s accepted that he’s well and truly sick, he realizes that there’s too much attention on him and he’s suddenly uncomfortable with everyone’s eyes on him, worried about how close they all are, worried that he’ll get them all sick if they stay.
He picks up his phone with shaky hands and types out a message.
no cuddles. germs :(
Jungkook chuckles and starts to get into the bed. “Oh, I’m not worried about germs, hyung. I never get sick.”
“Like hell you don’t!” Jimin grabs him by the back of his shirt and pulls him backward. “Jungkookie, you are the only one in this room who is guaranteed to get sick.”
“Yeah,” Taehyung adds. “You’re sensitive, remember?”
This earns an indignant squawk and a pout from Jungkook.
Seokjin raises an eyebrow. “You were literally just sick. Do you not remember?”
“I don’t mean sensitive in a bad way,” Taehyung amends, rubbing Jungkook’s arm. “We love that about you. But,” he says, reaching out and poking the very tip of Jungkook’s nose. “You’re the reason we have no tissues left in the entire house.”
Jungkook crosses his arms and glares at all of them. “Well then,” he says. “By that logic, if I’m already guaranteed to get sick, and I already cuddled with hyung just last night, then shouldn’t I be the only one who gets to cuddle with him today?”
With a smug expression, Jungkook climbs into the bed next to Namjoon, lifting the covers and tucking them around them both as he snuggles up to Namjoon’s chest.
“I’m so sorry you’re sick, hyung,” he whispers, rubbing Namjoon’s arm soothingly. “I hope once you take some medicine and get some rest you’ll be feeling better.”
“Okay, that’s…” Seokjin trails off, pinching the bridge of his nose. He sighs, then mutters, “I guess he’s technically not wrong.”
“We’ll have to go to the store and buy a lot more tissues,” Taehyung sighs.
As Jungkook looks at him, Namjoon is hit with how young he appears sometimes– any lingering feelings of wanting to be left alone dissipates immediately because damn, why is Jungkook the sweetest thing on the entire planet?
Namjoon clears his throat loudly and blinks away the sudden tears in his eyes. He’s feeling miserable and he wants so desperately to talk, and not being able to do so is beyond frustrating.
He reaches for his phone and types something out, even though looking at the screen is making his headache worse.
I’ll cuddle with Koo
it’s his decision about germs I guess
don’t want to eat anything right now because I might throw up again
just want to sleep
With a sigh, Seokjin looks back and forth between Namjoon and Jungkook, and then he sighs again and leans forward to press a kiss to Jungkook’s forehead.
Yoongi tips a pill into his palm from the bottle on the nightstand, extending out his hand toward Namjoon, but it’s Jungkook who takes it from him and passes it the rest of the way to the sick man.
Namjoon sighs, pops the pill into his mouth, and swallows it down with water, wincing at the raw feeling in his throat. Then, he settles back against the pillows, and Jungkook lays his head on his chest, and as everyone else turns out the lights and leaves the room Namjoon closes his eyes and tries to let himself fall asleep.

hi love, i missed your fics❤️i had a request for you!
jimin & hoseok go live together after a concert and jimin can’t stop sneezing bc of his allergies. (add your little bless you commentary pls it’s so cute😔)
Thank you so much! I'm so happy you like them, I'm sorry I disappeared for a bit but I think I fixed my mental state enough to write again 😅 for the first time in a month and a half I'm actually decently happy with this one.
In case you missed it in the request..
Warning: sneeze content
"I love you! I'll see you tomorrow!" Namjoon calls ad the seven boys slowly disappeared underneath the stage.
Jimin tried to speak, but the itch in his nose he's been trying to ignore all concert was building up, so he opted to make a heart above his head instead, scrunching his nose to try to hold the sneeze in for a few seconds longer.
"Eh..heh'tichi!" Jimin sneezes as soon as the lift drops him out of sight of Army sniffling to stop his nose from dripping. "Heh'hehitchi!" The sneezes he was holding back hit him all at once, Hoseok wrapping an arm around him to keep him from falling while the lift drops to the floor. "He..heheigh!"
"Aiigo..Bless you..are you sure you aren't sick, Jiminie?" Hoseok asks Jimin, rubbing the back of his neck. "You don't feel warm.."
"I'm fine, hyung. Staff already checked..che..sh..tich!" Jimin sneezes again, rubbing his finger across his nose. "I saw a doctor this morning before the concert. There's something about the air here that's setting off my allergies.."
"Did you take any medicine?" Hoseok asks, searching for a tissue for Jimin's runny nose, bringing him the box.
"Thanks hyung.. I don't understand..I'm usually not allergic to pollens.." Jimin blows his nose, sniffling again. "Yeah. I did before the show, but it really started wearing off during dope. I almost sneezed during my part..it was awful.. my nose itched so much.." he complains, his breath hitching for another sneeze that doesn't come. "Ugh.. I promised Army I would do a live tonight because I didn't join you guys for the live in Amsterdam."
"Army will understand if you aren't feeling well and skip it until you feel better." Hoseok reassures him, rubbing his dongsaeng's neck.
Jimin doesn't answer right away, trying to tickle the painful sneeze out of him, his breath hitching once more. "Heh..heiycvh!"
"Bless you.. Jiminie you don't need to force.." Hoseok starts, but Jimin interrupts him.
"No, no they'll only worry if they noticed I was sneezing a lot on stage then don't keep my promise. I want to at least expl..ah..heh'tichiu!" Jimin sneezes into the tissue, trying to clean up the mess that dripped from him.
"Are you sure you're okay Jiminie?" Namjoon asks, offering Jimin some water. "You've been sneezing quite a bit today.."
"Jiminies having issues with his allergies..I noticed there's a lot of plants I've never seen before by the hotel and stadium. Maybe one of those are setting them off." Hoseok explains for Jimin when he notices Jimin's face contorting as another sneeze builds.
"Heh'heh..ktchitxh!" Jimin stops fighting the sneeze when Hoseok finished talking, taking the water Namjoon offered. "Thanks Hyung.. all this sneezing is starting to hurt my throat..I'm surprised Taehyung-ah doesn't lose his voice when he sneezes.."
"Bless you.. make sure you wear a mask when you aren't singing to try to reduce the pollen that you breathe in.." Namjoon tells him with concern. "I'll ask staff to get you one with a filtering system."
"Thanks hyung.." Jimin takes a drink of water, trying to soothe his scratchy throat."Jungkookie seemed pretty sniffly today too. You should get..h..hey..iyfxh!' Another sneeze erupts from Jimin.
"I'll make sure he gets checked, too. Hopefully, it's just allergies for him too." Namjoon leaves to check on Jungkook.
"Go get changed so you can go home. I'll join you for a quick live session, okay, Jiminie. It'll be easier to do a live with another person with you." Hoseok offers.
"Thanks, hyungie. That'd be great."
Jimin followed Namjoon's advice, pulling up his mask as soon as they pulled up to the hotel, but he swore that whatever was setting off his allergies were still penetrating through the mask, causing an unbearable itch at the bridge of his nose.
Hoseok leads him inside, quickly using his key card to open the door to the hotel keeping his arm around Jimin's shoulder.
"He..he'hitch.." Jimin sneezes, grimacing when he feels the liquid drip down his nose and soak into the mask. "Eugh.." Jimin sniffles unhappily, not wanting to remove it until he was safely in the hotel room.
"Bless you Jimin-ah.. the medicine will kick in soon.. we can stay live until the sneezes settle down, but you should sleep after." Hoseok leads him to his room, fighting back a yawn.
"It's okay if you get tired, hyung. You can leave whenever you..he..geychi!"
"Bless you.." Hoseok says sympathetically.
"I can do it on my own or ask Jungkookie or Taehyungie to do it if you're tired.." Jimin digs out his key to his room.
"I'm not tired, Jiminie. I'm hungry..don't worry about me. Let Taehyungie and jaykay sleep. Those two were already falling asleep on the ride home." Hoseok reassures him, going into Jimin's bathroom to get a washcloth, wetting it and returning to Jimin, wiping his face clean. "Your nose is still so red, baby."
"Hyung that tick..eh..heh'tichi! Heyh..hitdhu!" Jimin sneezes, quickly backing up to avoid sneezing on Hoseok.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make it worse.." Hoseok apologizes, giving Jimin the wet cloth.
"Heh'itchiiugh...it's okay.." Jimin sniffles, wiping his face.
"Bless you.." Hoseok goes to the humidifier at the side of Jimin's bed, hoping it would help. "I'm going to make food, do you want anything?"
"I'd like some ramen.. something a little spicy to help clear my nose." Jimin starts setting up for the live, adjusting his phone so both him and Hoseok could be in frame.
"Alright, coming right up. You can start without me while I cook."Hoseok starts boiling water for them.
Jimin goes to speak, but ends up sneezing instead. "Heh..heditxxchu!"
"Bless you Jimin-ah. I'll make you some tea too." Hoseok searches for teabags in the kitchen.
"I'm going to fix up my make up first.." Jimin goes into the bathroom, blowing his nose once more before trying to use some concealer to lessen the redness. "Ugh..my eyes are a bit puffy..and I look like Rudolph..!"
Hoseok giggles when he hears Jimin whining at his reflection. "You still look cute." He calls to him, reassuring the younger boy about his insecurities. "Army will still think you're adorable too."
You're just saying that..I'll just do what i can to cover it up, maybe if i dont sit too close to the camera no one will notice. Jimin finishes up his face just as Hoseok gets the noodles into the living room. "Foods done?"
"Yeah, but it's still super hot. I burnt my mouth trying it.." Hoseok warns, sipping some water to try to soothe his tongue.
"I'll be sure to..to..hyh..heh'tichi!" Jimin sneezes, sighing irritably. "That one hurt..:
"Bless you.. Are you okay?" Hoseok asks, concern etched on his face.
"Yeah.. I'm okay.. are you ready for the live?" Jimin checks the angle once more before sitting down next to Hoseok.
"Ready when you are." Hoseok confirms, blowing on his noodles to try to get a not so painful bite.
Jimin hits play, picking up his noodles, surprised that within seconds there were already people in the chat. "Hello army.."
"Hi Army." Hoseok greets the small handful of people who already entered, then slurps his noodles. "Aiish, I shouldn't be eating noodles before the show tomorrow, my face is going to be so puffy.."
"You look cute with chub..ch.." Jimin puts up a finger thinking he had to sneeze, but nothing comes. "Chubby looking cheeks." He finishes his sentence, taking a bite of noodles.
The two eat chatting with each each other while they wait for more army to join, watching the comment section.
LovePJM13: hi Jimin oppa, I saw the show tonight and it was amazing, but in one of the photos I took it looks like you were crying. Are you okay?
"Ah, no. No i wasn't crying at all tonight. I was really..ah..Heh'hehitchi!" Jimin sneezes before he could put the noodles down to cover his face, choking on the noodles.
"Bless you baby..Are you okay? Drink some of your tea.. " Hoseok quickly takes the bowl from him and moves the camera so Jimin is out of frame, rubbing his back to try to ease his cough.
Jimin takes a drink of the tea, trying to wash down the noodles. "Yeah,yeah, I'm okay now..but that was awful.."
"Here.. you got broth on your face." J-hope uses his sleeve to wipe Jimin's chin. "Ah, the chat is worried.."
Jimin looks over, noticing the comment section flooding with concern. "Don't worry. I'm fine. It didn't really hurt it scared me more than anything.."
Tannie13: Do you have a cold?
Jungshookie9: Are you sick? I saw you sneezing during spring day..
Hoseok readjusted the camera so they could sit on the floor, looking through the comments. "Jiminie isn't sick. It's just allergies. Him and Jungkookie are both having issues, but it's worse for Jiminie."
"We'll only be here for another two days. I'll be fine. It's more annoying than anything." Jimin tries to reassure army, but his body has other plans. "Heh'itcgih! Heh..itcvxhyu!" Jimin covers his face with his arms, sniffling miserably.
"Bless you Jiminie.. they really aren't going away.." Hoseok frowns, rubbing Jimin's back. "You poor thing.."
"I'm doing better than earlier.. my eyes were more puffy when I was in the bathroom.." Jimin looks at himself through the camera lens. I wish it was my sneezes improving though..
"Are you guys healthy army? I know a lot of people get sick when the seasons change. Jinnie-hyung was just getting over a cold when we left Korea for our tour.." Jimin asks, but when he tries to watch the comments, his eyes start to water, another round of sneezes building covering his face.
"Hey'Itfgih! Heh'hehitchi! Ah..ah..hitcxhi!" Jimin sneezes, quickly standing up. "I'm sorry.. I got to blow my nose.." his voice comes out congested and soft, leaving Hoseok in charge of the chat.
"Bless you.. take your time Jimin-ah, I'll keep army company." Hoseok tries to calm Jimin's concerns about having to get up so suddenly.
"Army if you saw the show tonight what was your favorite part and if you didn't go what did you do today?" Hoseok asks, watching Jimin leave with concern. "Jiminie Army says bless you!" He calls to Jimin when he finds that he can't catch any of the comments except for the bless yous and I love you Jimin that flooded the chat. "We love you Jiminie!"
Jimin was glad for Hoseok's shouting, helping to conceal the sound of him blowing his nose, the clear gooey liquid soaking through the toliet paper. Maybe I should ask Hobi-hyung to take over the live.. I'm such a mess..Army want to see me when I'm handsome and smiling..
Jimin takes out his phone to text Hoseok, hoping he'd check it, but after retouching up his make up and still not getting a response he returned to the livingroom, bowing to the stream. "Sorry everyone.. I know this isn't what you had in mind when I said I'd go live in the next city.."
"Jimin-ah, you don't need to apologize. No one's upset that you aren't feeling your best.. we're just worried about you." Hoseok pulls him into a hug.
"Hobi-hyung.. I'm so ugly and gross right now.. I think we should turn off the live and you can do one on your own for army in my place." Jimin whispers so only Hoseok hears, only earning him a tighter hug.
"Don't say stuff like that Jimin-ah, you're being too hard on yourself. You look fine.. it's just a little redness to your face, it's no big deal. Okay?" Hoseok whispers back to him, gently ruffling Jimin's hair and letting him go, turning to talk to the camera. "Army! Isn't Jimin so handsome today? I don't think a stuffy nose is enough to ruin it."
Jimin watches the comment section flood his jaw clenched with nerves. They're just going to say Hyung always thinks I'm cute or lie just to make me feel better..
DaddyJoon9:You have the cutest little sneezes I just wish they didn't make you miserable 😔
HEYStobit77:You think the sniffles are enough to ruin your pretty face? You're crazy oppa. You're still handsome!
Ot7borababy:You're still my beautiful angel. Sick or not. Just feel better soon.
Tannie13: we don't care about your looks. You're very handsome but I'm here for your sweetness, Mochi. Please smile.
Jimin tried to catch every comment that rushes by, his eyes filling with tears when he sees all the supportive comments flooding into his heart, sniffling once more.
"Jimin-ah are you crying?" Hoseok asks in concern when Jimin lays his head in his palms, letting out a shaky breath. Hoseok leans forward to read the comment section, relaxing when he sees nothing but positivity, a mix of compliments and concern. "Jimin-ah tell Army why you're crying.."
"I-i'm just happy.. Thank you Army.. I love you guys so m-much.." Jimin lifts his head to speak to them, smiling through his tears.
Hoseok uses his thumbs to dry Jimin's eyes. "Hey, hey Jimin-ah? Guess what?"
"Huh?" Jimin sniffles, looking at Hoseok's bright smile.
"You haven't sneezed since you sat back down. They're starting to stop." Hoseok announces relieved for his stressed out dongsaeng.
"Hyung..don't jinx it.." Jimin smiles, wiping his face with his sleeve. "Let's finish our noodles and get to bed.. I think I've had enough excitement for one day.."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jungkook's been fighting a cold for three days. It’s a brutal battle; there are empty blister packs and crumpled up tissues strewn about as evidence that Jungkook’s holding his own. But when he wakes on day four, it seems the cold is coming out on top. The combined efforts of cold medicine and nasal spray prove useless. He can't breathe at all though his nose, and he's hacking merciless coughs that tear through his chest. In these minutes of misery, he believes being mauled by a bear would hurt less.
He stands in the bathroom white knuckling the edge of the sink. After a round of wet coughs, he spits the phlegmy remains down the drain and sniffles harshly. But nothing moves in his sinuses. It's an impenetrable wall of snot. He tries forcing air in, he tries forcing air out. It's all ineffective. He whimpers pitifully, splashing warm water over his face hoping that might help. Still, nothing changes. He momentarily contemplates using that neti pot that Namjoon swears by.
The six members can hear Jungkook hitching and sniffling heavily from the bathroom. But they give him space. Jungkook was adamant from day one that "it's not a big deal" and “It’s just a small cold” and the ever so mature "I can take care of myself." So they wait. They agreed to let Jungkook come to them, when he needs it. They try not to coddle him too much, unless that's what he wants. So they are seated around the table, breakfast served, listening to Jungkook lose another battle with his nose.
It goes on for a while and Jungkook's not coming down to eat. Seokjin cracks and stands from the table. Hoseok immediately interjects, "He said he doesn't want any help."
"And I'm not going to help him," the elder answers nonchalantly, "I'm just feeling a little warm." He casually goes over to the home thermostat and lowers the temperature a few degrees. There’s a mischievous look in his eyes as he presses the down arrow repeatedly. The other members seem to understand what their hyung is up to. They nod collectively around the table, Seokjin retaking his seat. They don't need to speak about it, everyone already knows there’s a plan.
There's another round of painful sounding coughs followed by throat clearing and spitting. Then they finally hear footsteps walking toward the staircase. Seconds later, Jungkook joins them at the table. His food has already gone cold.
"Bornin, hyunds" Jungkook greets, pushing the plate aside and resting his head on the table. Maybe if he hits his head hard enough against the table, the snot clogging his sinuses will finally shift. It's a fleeting thought, and he ultimately decides not to act on it. Instead, he just sniffles thickly again.
"Still got that cold, JK?" Jimin asks, hoping maybe Jungkook would admit that he's feeling bad. They don't have anything to do today, so what's the harm in seeking a little attention?
"Yeah," he sniffles thickly as if to prove his point. "I dink id's gettig wordse. Id anyone else cold?" His teeth are chattering as he wraps his arms around his upper body.
Sure, they know Seokjin lowered the temperature a few degrees in the dorms. But Jungkook makes it seem like he's sitting in a winter storm without a coat. There's several replies around the table that all convince Jungkook he's alone in feeling cold. He kind of suspected that was the case.
Hoseok leans over uninvited and presses a hand to the maknae's forehead. Surprisingly Jungkook doesn't pull away; instead, he leans further into Hoseok's touch basking in the memory of what warmth feels like.
"Aigoo, you feel a bit warm, bun." The dancer announces to the table. Jungkook groans in response to the news. Instead of pulling his hand away, Hoseok uses it to stroke gently down Jungkook's cheek as a comforting gesture.
Jungkook melts at the touch. It's just the simple comfort he's been denying himself for the past three days. The same comfort he's been craving, but has been too ashamed to ask for. But now he's feverish and stuffy and miserable. And he just wants to be cuddled.
"Hyunds," the maknae's eyes begin to water as he looks at them. He can sense their pity. He knows they won't be mad. "I deally don'd beel good."
Jimin stands from his seat and wraps his arms around the sick maknae, pressing a long kiss to the crown of his head. No one else moves, they don't want to smother him. Besides, Jimin is the best when it comes to physical comfort. "That's okay, Jungkookie. Hyungs are here to take care of you." He reassures, wiping fallen tears off his fellow vocalist's flushed cheeks.
Despite Jimin’s soft tones and gentle touches, Jungkook breaks down into hysterical sobs. He knows he’s been a jerk to his hyung for days and they didn’t say anything to him about it. He feels bad, physically and emotionally. And he can’t help but think that maybe if he would have let his hyungs help days ago, he wouldn’t be feeling so badly now. “Hyunds, I’b dorry. I’b do dorry.” He repeats through broken, hiccuping sobs.
Jimin repositions so he’s sitting on Jungkook’s lap. He pulls the maknae in and buries his face into his own shoulder, petting his damp hair slightly. He doesn’t care about the mess it will make. He just wants for Jungkook to calm down. It hurts his heart to hear Jungkook wail like this. Jimin’s whispering sweet nothing and reassurances into Jungkook’s ears so quietly not even Hoseok, who is seated beside them, can hear.
As Jungkook starts to finally calm down, Jimin makes subtle gestures to the other members. He’s got Jungkook for now. But they’re going to need a team effort if they want Jungkook to be effectively taken care of. So the table disperses to various areas of the house. Jungkook doesn’t even hear them leave.
When he looks up, Jimin’s holding a napkin toward him encouraging him to blow his nose. Jimin doesn’t let go of the napkin, and when Jungkook turns away Jimin’s hand follows. Eventually, Jimin just cups the napkin around Jungkook’s nose and squeezes. The napkin fills, now sticky and wet against Jimin’s fingertips. But there’s room for more. And from the sound of Jungkook’s sniffling, there’s definitely more. “Good, now blow for real this time,” Jimin commands in a low assertive voice. It’s eerily close to Yoongi’s tone. Jungkook doesn’t mess around when Jimin deepens his voice. He knows it means he’s serious. Jungkook blows hard, relieved that crying had loosened his sinuses. He files it away as a quick fix should he feel stuffed up again.
Jimin pulls the napkin away, wiping at any left over on or around Jungkook’s nose. He puts the napkin on Jungkook’s untouched plate of food and goes back to coddling. Jungkook’s on Jimin’s shoulder again, the one that’s not soiled with tears and snot, and Jimin’s rocking them from side to side. It’s a peaceful few minutes of comfort. Then Jungkook’s breath hitches and he scrunches up his nose. “Hhe- EHet-” He anticipates a sneeze and points his face away from Jimin. But he loses it as soon as it snuck up on him. “Ghuh” He sniffles and shakes his head, trying to will the sneeze back. The need is still there. Less urgent, but it will happen sooner or later. He prefers sooner.
Jimin chuckles at the disappointed and determined look on Jungkook’s face. He knows how annoying it can be to feel a sneeze that’s not ready to come out yet. “Ah, Kook-ah, let hyung help you.” Jimin pulls Jungkook’s face back, brushing longer strands of hair against the edged of Jungkook’s nostrils. The thin strands tickle at Jungkook’s nose. And the residual chemical smell of hair dye from Jimin’s new color is strong enough for Jungkook to sense. The combination does wonders for Jungkook’s stuck sneeze.
It’s a matter of seconds before Jungkook’s hitching and pitching with a flurry of sneezes. “Eh-NgtCHI, Heh-PFTIchu, HEI-gnxtch” He tried to turn away, but Jimin kept him tucked in. The sneezes sprayed against Jimin’s neck, some of the dampness getting in the short vocalist's hair. But Jimin doesn’t flinch or cringe. He doesn’t pull away.
Jimin waits patiently for the fit to end and then looks at Jungkook’s face. His eyes are red rimmed, nose dripping with fresh snot that he tries to sniffle back. There’s a small pout on his lips. And the maknae’s breathing is labored, like the force of the sneezing took his breath away. He smooths over Jungkook’s hair. “Feel better?” he asks softly, reaching around the table for an unused napkin. He wishes they were closer to a box of tissues.
“A biddle,” Jungkook replies, already wiping the drippage on the back of his sleeve in the interest of time. “I wadda sleeb,” he admits.
Jimin chuckles. “Okay, baby. The couch should be all set up for you now.” He leaps off Jimin’s lap and offers the maknae a hand. Jungkook accepts the hand and allows Jimin to guide him to the living room. Like Jimin alluded to, his personal bedding is set up on the couch. It’s clear now Jimin’s affections were meant to bide time.
Jungkook makes himself comfortable on the pillow that’s leaned up against Hoseok’s lap. He knows Hoseok is a bit of a germaphobe, but he can’t resist getting as close to the dancer as possible. He assumes it’s okay when Hoseok coos and starts rubbing Jungkook’s arms over the blanket.
Before he gets too comfortable, Seokjin and Yoongi emerge from the kitchen. Seokjin’s holding a steaming bowl and Yoongi’s got a small pharmacy in his arms. “You’ve gotta eat something before sleeping, JK.” Seokjin advises, “And take some medicine.”
“Bill you feed be?” Jungkook asks in a small voice as he sits himself up. He continues to lean against Hoseok. Seokjin isn’t going to say no to such a precious request. He sits on the floor in front of Jungkook and spoon feeds him. Jungkook eats half the bowl before he says he’s full. Jungkook’s not usually the type to get full, especially on less than one serving; but Seokjin doesn’t argue it. When Seokjin steps away, Yoongi approaches with blister packs of cold medicine.
“Do you want daytime or nighttime?” Yoongi asks before he opens anything.
“Night,” Jungkook pleads. He just wants to be asleep. Yoongi pops the pills and hands them to Jungkook. While the maknae works to dry swallow those, he’s pouring a dose of cough medicine which Jungkook takes with only a few complaints. “Cab I dleeb now?” He’s still making a sour face from the taste of cough syrup. Yoongi smooths a fever patch into his forehead.
Yoongi nods and settles nearby. One by one all the members come to rest around the couch. There’s a movie playing in the background but no one can give it much attention. With Jungkook’s constant thick sniffling and wet coughing, everyone’s attention is on the sick maknae.
“Are you sure you don’t want to try the neti pot?” Namjoon offers, as is standard everytime one of the members has a cold. The answer is always a resounding no, but he’ll make the suggestion until the day he dies. In line with the tradition, Jungkook cringes at the mention. He’s terrified that he’d drown or his brain would fill with water. It’s not logical, but neither is pouring water up your nose.
“What if we make you sneeze?” Taehyung suggests mischievously. There’s a silence among the members. Taehyung feels judged for even suggesting it, so he elaborates, “If you sneeze, you might clear up your sinuses. And finally be able to sleep.”
Jungkook’s entranced by the idea of sleep. He’s beyond drowsy and sapped of energy since he took the night med. He’d be asleep if it weren’t for the heaviness in his chest and head. His only reservation is that he doesn’t think he has the stamina to sneeze. Each one rips out of him with such force. He doesn’t have the energy for that. But he’s willing to try. “Led’s try id.” He admits.
Taehyung’s up and out of the room at light speed. He doesn’t tell anyone what he’s planning. The other members look around and try to come up with ways to make Jungkook sneeze. Jimin stays silent. He’d already been sneezed on today, he feels it’s someone else’s turn. Seokjin makes the first move. He blows in Jungkook’s face, a slow stream of air directed toward the top of Jungkook’s nose. It makes the maknae’s nose twitch. He hitches once. But nothing productive.
Namjoon instructs Jungkook to look at the light, hoping that might trigger something. But the cool lighting of the dorm isn’t bright enough to trigger a reaction. Still his nose itches and he scrubs at it. Hoseok grabs a candle sitting on the side table. But when he looks at it, he notices it’s unscented. Of course all the candles are unscented. Scented candles make Jungkook sneeze. So they don’t keep them in the dorm. Yoongi shrugs and jams a finger under Jungkook’s nose.
“Hyung, that’s how you stop a sneeze,” Jimin remarks with a chuckle.
Yoongi stutters embarrassed, “Ya, maybe it works both ways. You never know.” Jimin raises his hands in surrender. Yoongi’s finger doesn’t have any effect on Jungkook’s stuck sneezes. He hitches again gasping for air, desperate to relieve the tickle in his nose.
Taehyung runs back into the room with a shaggy throw pillow in hand. He shoves the pillow against Jungkook’s face. The surrounding members can clearly smell the strong cologne that Taehyung wears to award ceremonies. It smells as though he dipped the whole pillow into the bottle.
Jungkook inhales a heavy dose of the cologne and is immediately thrown into a sneezing fit. “hep’tehCHU, hmf’NXTchi, he-eh'HXTt, HA’tichu, hpti’atCHI, HXTngt, Hi’TISHuu” He sneezes relentlessly into what he knows if Taehyung’s favorite snuggle pillow. Each sneeze is louder and messier than the next. They are hard on his throat and they hurt in his nose, but it’s working. He can feel mucus shift with each sneeze. He can tell just from the stickiness alone that the pillow is now covered in his snot.
He wants to pull it away. The heavy scent of the cologne is still attacking his nose. But he doesn’t want the others to see the mess he’s made. After 13 harsh sneezes, Namjoon rips the pillow away and tosses it onto the reclining chair in the corner. “Alright, Jungkook. I think that’s enough.” He tries to keep it lighthearted, but he’s seriously concerned about Jungkook’s vocal cords after all the sneezing.
Jungkook’s left with nothing to hide his messy face. There’s snot glistening his skin all the way down to his chin. He hastily rubs the sleeves of his sweater against his face to clean himself. He’s tearing up at the same time, embarrassed. Seokjin’s got a box of tissues in his hands. He grabs three and approaches the maknae.
“Jungkook-ah. Don’t use your sweater. That’s not clean.” His voice is calm and sweet. “Here, hyung has tissues for you.”
Jungkook grabs them hastily and finishes cleaning up. He throws the balled up tissues on the same chair as the pillow. He figures they should keep all of his mess together. “More, please.” Jungkook asks, his voice a lot clearer than it has been all day. Seokjin just passes the whole box.
Jungkook blows his nose loudly three more times before he finally feels empty. Or emptier, at least. He’s now able to breathe better through one nostril and his head feels less heavy. And as expected, the sneezing fit wore him to bits. He finally feels like he can sleep. He nestles back in against Hoseok who accepts him with open arms.
Taehyung smiles, reclaiming his previous seat. “Sleep well, Jungkookie.” He rubs the maknae’s calf.
Still no one can focus on the movie over the sounds of Jungkook’s congested snores.
I’m imagining a poor, cold-ridden Joonie who is curled up, just like this, with the blanket tucked underneath his nose. He wakes himself by letting out a set of shivery sneezes into the warm blanket. Just then, Yoongi quietly strides into the room with a box of tissues in hand—perfect timing.
“Those didn’t sound too good, Namjoon-ah,” Yoongi frowns and pulls a tissue out of the box, handing it to Namjoon. Namjoon thanks him before blowing his now red and runny nose.
@snifflyjoonie This made me think of you 🥺
