A lot of people saw Kuguri as an emotionless person. In school, he was a volleyball player who never seemed to enjoy anything despite his talent.

But you knew your best friend better than that.

You knew that his distinct humour always made you feel better after a bad test or some breakup from a relationship that only lasted a month. Already in high school, he brightened your days.

Now, he would come to the café where you worked after a particularly exciting or frustrating day at work to tell you all about it. Perhaps his tone wasn’t that dynamic, but you knew him well enough to distinguish his emotions from each other.

Recently, he joined a local volleyball team that took up some of his evenings, so today he came by to grab a coffee on his way there. While you made the coffee, he leaned on the edge of the counter and told you how nervous he was to get to know new players.

And then as you finished the coffee, you set it down in front of him and gave him a few reassuring words with a boop on the nose. He looked unbothered by it, but you could see the slight tinge of colour on his cheeks. The two of you did the signature handshake you made in high school before he had to be on his way.

He grabbed the cup, nodding his head at you and wishing you goodbye as always. Except, it wasn’t quite like always.

“Bye, I love you!” he said while turning around, already heading out and crossing the road so he could get on a bus.

He sat down in his seat, breathing out and looking at what you wrote on his cup, a ‘go get ‘em tiger’ decorated with lots of stars.

And then the words rang in his head.

“I love you.”

Oh my god, I told her I love her. I wasn’t supposed to do it like that!

He scrambled to get his phone out of his pocket, where it fought to stay so it wouldn’t have to witness him try to smooth over his mistake.

Normally one would shove their hands in their pockets to keep warm, but it doesn’t help at all. So she blows hot air on her hands to keep them warm as she’s out with her bf. The characters I have in mind for this one are Kyotani, Bokuto, Kuguri, and Hinata noticing this and handle it in their own way

* You realised you left you gloves the minute you crossed the street

* It's was too late, you were too late, you boyfriend was probably waiting for you in this cold and here you were contemplating on if you should be even more late

* Pockets. You've got pockets, so it should be fine

* Except five minutes with your boyfriend later, you could sense your hands freezing

* You try to find warmth in your pocket but it was all gone

* So you pull out you hand, cupping them together and blowing on them, huffing and puffing only for the heat to dissipate seconds later

Kyotani

* hears you puffing and looks at you like ?

* He knew it was cold, got a little annoyed when you told him you left your gloves at home

* He's kept you close to him anyways

* He was quite broad, wrapping his arm around you waist as you walk together

* His own body heat radiating on you but somehow your hands were still cold

* "Princess, here"

* You look at him, seeing his outstretched hand holding one of his own gloves

* Is kind of confused at your strategy but watches you for a few seconds to see how well it goes

* When you let out a little shiver he decides to approach you

* When you looks at his face, he has the biggest smile, instantly warming up your chest

* "Why didn't you tell me your hands were cold, baby?" Whispers before blowing on your hands

Just One Shot

Word Count: 1061 words

Kuguri Naoyasu let out a displeased groan at the way his friend was dragging him.

“Do I have to be here?” He asked Shibayama Yuuki as the dark haired male stuck his tongue out at Kuguri.

“Yes. All you have been doing is study, Guri.” Shibayama retorted, followed by the agreements of the rest of their friendship circle.

“Shibayama’s right, Kuguri. When was the last time you went out with us?” Hinata Shouyou pouted from where he stood beside his boyfriend, Haiba Lev, and Kuguri could only roll his eyes. When he became friends with the students from Nekoma that are his age, he never thought that it would bring other students from other teams too. Especially not the loud Hinata Shouyou, his frenemy, Kageyama Tobio, the antagonistic Tsukishima Kei and his reserved best friend, Yamaguchi Tadashi, the energetic Koganegawa Kanji and a few more people. Granted, the Kageyama, Tsukishima and Yamaguchi aren't around as often as Hinata is, but still.

“Not my fault you lot are too loud. I can’t bring you anywhere without you and Kageyama fighting or you climbing Lev like a tree.” Kuguri said, smirking when the ginger blushed. He roamed his eyes around the gymnasium that they dragged him into.

“An archery competition? Really?” He asked with a raised brow. He looked around again before his eyes fell on a figure, causing him to completely disregard whoever answered him.

He was looking at you. You are beautiful, with the way you were concentrating on getting your shot at the middle of the target that is 25 meters away from you.

He couldn't keep his eyes off of you and the way your chest heaved up and down as you took calming breaths as to not accidentally jerk your arm and miss your shot. He was a little ways away, but he couldn't stop looking at the way your eyes fluttered as you took the shot, and the small, pleased smile on your face when you realised that your arrow was right in the middle of the target.

Kuguri could feel his breath being taken away with the same time as you released the string, and how he felt that it was his heart that got shot by you.

"Kuguri! KUGURI!" Koganegawa nearly screamed in his ear, making him jump.

"What?" He asked, glaring at them for taking his attention away from you.

"We're going to go eat. What were you looking at? I swear you had heart eyes." Lev asked, trying to see what caught Kuguri's attention. He looked back at the arena, where you were standing, only to find you gone.

"Nothing. Let's go." Kuguri said as he took one last glance at where you were standing and walked out, fully expecting you to leave his mind within the hour.

Only that you didn't. Weeks have passed and you are still on Kuguri's mind.

He hadn’t even been able to go on a date because it didn’t feel right, not when all he could think about is you. Just one shot, and not even aimed at him, was all it took for his attention to be captured. Despite the lack of dates and the way you took a hold of his mind, he can’t find it in him to complain.

Kuguri groaned as he got up and left his room for a drink. All he wanted was a good night's sleep after a stressful day with his university classes, yet how can he? How can he have peace when you plagued his dreams too?

He just wanted to sleep, so why can't you just leave his mind temporarily?

His dorm room slammed open, and he sighed when he heard just who exactly walked in.

"I regret giving you a copy of my dorm room keys." He muttered and faced his friends, squinting at the outfits they were wearing. Glitters and sequins, heels and crop tops. "No. You are not dragging me over to a party. I just want to sleep because today has been stressful."

"Come on, Kugs. I know how stressful today was. We're in the same major, remember?" Lev said as he placed his make up kit down and forced Kuguri to get changed, knowing that the blue eyed male had already taken a shower by habit.

With a sigh, Kuguri got ready and sat down in front of Lev. "Do I have to wear makeup?"

"Yes. Because fuck toxic masculinity." Hinata said as he laced up Kuguri's boots with Shibayama.

"I mean word, but also, why now? It's just a party, no?"

"Not just any party. It's THE after finals party, thrown by the STEM major third years, and we have been invited." Koganegawa answered with a snicker.

"How the fuck did we get an invite to that?"

"Shouyou got together with Kuroo-san." Lev said with a smirk, and eyes widened at that.

"Did you two break up or-?" Shibayama asked.

"We're in an open relationship." Hinata answered, as if it's the most normal thing in the world. But then again, for two people like Hinata and Lev, it really is normal. He rolled his eyes and just let them drag him to the party, frowning when Hinata disappeared with Kuroo, Lev ran off to find someone, and Shibayama and Koganegawa disappeared on the dance floor. He went to the open bar and asked for his favourite drink, eyes roaming on the dance floor.

"You look great. I love the glitter." A voice beside him said, and Kuguri froze when he saw who it was.

It was you. You, who had taken up all the free spots in his mind, and the one he thought of in all his free time.

"H-hi? And uh...thanks." He replied with a slight grimace. "My friends said fuck toxic masculinity."

"As they should." You said, laughing softly. A sound that was better than the music that was playing in the background. Kuguri found himself wanting to either kiss the lips that the laugh came from, or make himself look like a fool if it meant more laughs coming from you. "I'm L/n Y/n."

"Kuguri Naoyasu. You look gorgeous too, by the way."

"Aww, thanks, cutie. You want to dance?"

"I'd love that actually."

And if Kuguri went back to his dorms with you and your contact on his phone, that's yours and his business only.

Soft boy hours with Kuguri Naoyasu

The day starts with the two of you sleeping in. Now, we know that Kuguri is a rather reserved person and doesn’t show a lot of emotion, but on days like this, and when he’s with you, he’s way more relaxed and just very soft™️.

You’ll wake up with him spooning you, his arm loosely sling around your waist while his face is pressed into your neck, his warm breath tickling you neck.

He usually has no problem getting up early, but if he can, he will sleep in and enjoy a lazy morning in bed. Preferably with you.

He’ll wake up from the lightest touch, though, just running your fingers over his arm with a feather like touch will make him stir in his sleep. But even if he wakes up he’ll want to stay in bed for a while longer, switching between nuzzling his nose deeper into your neck and placing gentle kisses from your neck down to your shoulder blades.

After forcing yourself out of bed Kuguri will head to the shower first and ask you to wait for him with breakfast. He would like to help you make breakfast and would even do it himself if he wasn’t an awkward mess in the kitchen. The boy knows how to make instant ramen and curry, but that’s about it.

Ask him if you can join him in the shower and watch the color in his cheek deepen. Even if you had seen each other naked before, for him showering, and especially bathing together is such a intimate action where he feels he’s in a quite vulnerable position, that the thought, let alone suggestion of it flusters him. He’d agree, though.

While preparing the food for breakfast (or more like lunch because you’d probably be getting up around midday) Kuguri‘s attention will shift to you at some point and rather than lending you a hand he’ll make cooking harder for you, because he’ll just latch onto you like a leech, hugging you tightly from behind, and when you will move, so will he.

He’s usually not that affectionate, especially not in public, but if it’s just the two of you he’ll visibly relax, and while his face might still show little to no emotion, his actions and body language will show you how he feels. And on lazy days he feels pretty affectionate.

Lunch is relatively quiet, because he tends to eat in silence, but if you feel like talking he’ll gladly engage in a conversation with you.

After lunch he may suggest to go lay down again, because there is no such thing as too much sleep.

While some people draw a connection between lazy Sundays and taking a walk, Kuguri will be adamant about staying inside, he’d much rather take a nap, eat some snacks or watch a movie with you. He’d be fine with keeping you company while you do your thing (studying, reading, household chores, playing a game etc.) too. If you ask him to help he’ll definitely lend you a hand, but not without a whiny “But it’s Sunday.“.

If you don’t request his help he’ll simply linger around, but will always be within 10 foot radius of you, occasionally approaching you to hug you or give you a kiss, and definitely to ask you if the two of you can go back to bed again.

When it gets dark and all the things that had to be done are done, you’d be curling up on the couch together, covered in blankets and tangled up in one another while a show you had been wanting to continue plays on the tv in front of you. I kinda imagine that Kuguri is a fan of thriller and true crime shows. Just saying.

He may or may not fall asleep on the couch. Probably in a position that makes it difficult for you to relax. Like, you’d just feel the weight on your left shoulder becoming heavier and heavier and before you know it you’re buried under him, his arms holding you tightly, making you unable to move. And the best part is that you couldn’t even be a hundred percent sure if he was actually sleeping because Kuguri would most definitely do something like that just to annoy you a little.

When he decided to lay down either in your lap or on your chest, I’m begging you please run your fingers through his hair and play with it, he loves that, but it’s 12 times more likely that he will fall asleep that way. You’ll get to see that beautiful smile of his this way, though, he just really enjoys you pampering him like that.

When you finally suggest to head to bed he’s up and headed for the bathroom faster than you can finish your question.

He’ll probably be in back in bed quicker then you and will wait patiently for you to finish up your nightly skincare routine and to join him under the covers, and once your body hits the mattress he’s already pulling you in closer, holding you to his chest while he tells you that he had a fun day and that you two should make time for lazy days like this more often.

Before you fall asleep you can hear him whisper a soft “Thank you, I love you.” 🥺 He doesn’t express his love directly and verbally like that often, so you know when he does he means it. He isn’t as physically affectionate in public either, it’s only when the two of you are alone that he’ll allow himself to indulge in his desire to be close to you.
