I’ve put off posting this for months because I wanted to find my comics so I could talk about how she fits into this one story wise, but I’ve officially given up on that so AT LONG LAST here’s Lauren in The Midnight Giant!
Comic Lauren is younger and a little less mature than her show counterpart, she has less of a parental role towards Hilda and enjoys messing with her. She’s considered a lot less…reliable by her mother. But she genuinely tries, she does everything she can to help her family and prove to her Mum that she’s capable, but that’s a little hard when Johanna’s focus is on Hilda’s shenanigans so often…

it's scary in the dungeon meshi tag right now....................... like.................... i feel like the writing of this episode was brilliant in how it included so much information and gave us a clear history of shuro's experience, a clear view into his feelings of resentment, and made it extremely and plainly obvious, with its use of the theme of being well-fed, that this is him at his worst.
the fight between him and laios was entertaining in how it was presented in contrast with everything and everyone else, but having it be a childish fight between two people who suck at communicating in different ways and for different reasons, didn't have bad intentions, and yet hurt each other, did wonders for their respective characterisations. shuro finally eats a bite of the food that senshi, "the guy who teaches everyone about being well fed", kept for him, and with a clearer mind not only treats his companions better (showing how touched they are that he thanked them is a perfect example of "show, don't tell": he doesn't usually do that or hasn't been doing that, but right now he did!) but also takes one of these clear headed, mature decision that laios earlier complimented him for.
laios hit him first - it was inappropriate. shuro hit him back - that was an immature decision. the fight wasn't nasty, it was equal amounts of childish on both sides and it led them to communicate with each other, which was what was missing between them. it was something that they both needed, it was something that was just for the two of them, which is why everyone else left them to it. once he ate something, shuro immediately behaved much better, so it's easy to picture - especially when laios has described his past self in a good light - that when he is in good condition, he has other qualities as an individual. i'm not saying this because i want people to look at a character i like in a good light - i'm enjoying him because he's very pathetic - but because it seems so clear that this episode's writing screamed "this is this man at his worst". the use of food guys. remember the food
of course i don't think you should use physical fights as a mean of communicating with your friends but i don't know if you guys (saw the big dragon woman) noticed that their situation is a little bit messy and scary and tiring .
etc. etc.

It was peculiar how names stuck. The young king had been released from his enchantment, but people spoke of him as the Frog King still. And Heinrich, his most loyal and beloved attendant, they still called Iron Heinrich. Except that name they only used in hushed tones, where the king's young bride would not hear.
Putting some new emphasis on the Grimm's "The Frog King or Iron Heinrich"

Enemies to lovers arc.... mayhaps? 😳 Only fanfic can bring me the Tarnished x Morgott content I so desperately crave,,, and I'm so very bad at long form fics. But for him??? maybe I could make myself do it.

Do you think John Mitchell should have lived? I think he gave himself the short end of the stick. :(
I might have to think and come back to this w a more detailed and less stream of consciousness response as I'm just off work and v tired but I do think that, while there could have been plenty of other outcomes, the most narratively satisfying and the Most Mitchell decision was the one he made in canon. And George being the self fulfilling prophecy of the wolf shaped bullet was done really well imo.
Mitchell spends all of his time in the show in this cycle of self destruction and addiction and hurting others without meaning to, and that guilt complex has to go somewhere, yknow? He knows that if he lives he's going to hurt them again and again, it's all he's ever done. His resolve just isn't strong enough one way or another. He abandons Herrick again and again, and he can't stay clean no matter how much his friends may try to help him. Maybe with time that he didnt see himself as having he could have properly gotten control of it, but thats only speculation. Not to mention, he seems to see it as a hopeless endeavor, and I don't exactly blame him, after he sees the man who got /him/ clean broke under pressure. The only truly moral decision in his eyes (and I won't even get into his catholic framework here) is to remove himself from the equation entirely. And then even in this decision he can't commit and makes George do it.
Not to mention his survivors guilt, however earned. Throughout the series it just gets worse and worse. As his kills mount despite his efforts, he's left to pick up the pieces, to either come clean or hide until he can't anymore and is forced to admit his wrongdoings. After he personally orchestrates Herrick's death, someone he used to consider a friend, you can see it fucks him up even if he doesnt want to admit it. After the bomb it only mounts, and then there's the box tunnel 20. He just sees his death as inevitable, as earned at this point.
While it is an extremely sad moment, I do also believe that had he lived, there would be another box tunnel 20, and another, and another, ("oh Jesus or a school" etc) and I think Mitchell knew that, too.
Tldr: do I think that he maybe sold himself short on his chances of getting better with a lot of time? Yes. But do I also think that he is fulfilling his pattern of self destruction to an extreme degree and and is enacting his belief that any bloodshed on the way to getting him there potentially decades later is not worth whatever theoretical life he could live on the other side of it? Also yes.

Bnha ships? Controversial or typical ones!
mmmmmmmmm, unfortunately, i've never been too invested in ships just bc i'm always a little more invested in the reader insert side of things... but that being said, i really don't have any ships that i truly dislike, either.... so let's see!
-
in completely random order:
deku x melissa - i like to think that a couple years after meeting they have a little bit of fling/relationship. i thought their chemistry was amazing in the movie so it's very cute to me to think that she's the first person deku dates <3 also, american baddie.
hawks x endeavor - no excuse no thoughts head empty... i just like the (somewhat toxic) dynamic of like, younger person makes older person better............... somehow. i think they're funny too, with endeavor being all grumpy and hawks just all ^u^ all the time LOL
kiribaku, ofc! - just a berry cute relationship in general, i love a relationship where both characters meet later in life and become their most true selves together (honestly tho any bakusquad member x bakugo i really like. MINA x BAKUGO ESP, but also denki and sero!)
shinbaku + bakugo x todoroki, too. - dunno. but i see art + fics of them and i like it LOL.
bakugo x momo - they definitely have a relationship at some point and i'm there for it. they just seem a lot more similar than one might initially think, you know? both pretty boys and girls who study hard and like calming things.
(i've said it before, too.. but i also like tsuyu x bakugo and camie x bakugo! i think bakugo would be so gentle with tsu and so funny with camie <3... maybe even todoroki x camie, too)
and i don't think abt it too much bc i know it's endgame, but izuocha is very sweet and high on my list. i love their fanart, it's always so cute! similarly, bakugo x mirko... i hope they have their moment together at least once!!
and finally (tho there's a ton i'm missing, i'm sure): everyone x caitie!! this one isn't too controversial tho i know it's not very widespread in the bnha community simply cuz caitie hasn't been introduced in the show yet. but i know she's fucking EVERYONE (and esp bakugo<3333)
thank you so much for asking, anon! you can always check @cakugo which is my sideblog for most bnha shipart and art in general. what ships do you like?

7. Favorite actor of the year?
25. Did you create any characters (in games, art, or writing) this year? Describe one
From your 🎃
7: Oh, harvey guillen absolutely. Him or matt berry. But i side more with harvey cause.. it.. i just.. he........... v////v
25. i did! I did i did, plenty for Andromadis, my ttrpg campaign, many of whom I adore but would be kinda lost without context, and Montgomery but ya'll've heard at least a bit about him so.. hm.
I suppose this was the year that i really Solidified Charlie and Ulysses, who were just kinda floating around amorphous in the brain meats before hand, and i talk about them probably the least! So a Quick Introduction to my bad bad backwater cowboy cosmic horror boys! ( I know the ask is describe One but frankly they cannot be seperated v-v)
Ulysses is a very short and slender man, with close cut reddish hair, small wire glasses, and a clean face (he's trans but that's not really a big talking point here) at one point in time he desired to be a preist and a teacher, but somewhere along the way those dreams fell off. There's some rather... uncharitable rumours as to why but most just chalk it up to his short temper and unnerving disposition being not a good fit for the feild.
He disappeared from town some time ago, just walked into the brush and never came back. He found a book out there, A special book, A living book. A book that contained within its pages all time and all things and all possibilities, and it spoke to him, it called itself 'the fabric of time both woven and unravelled' he introduces it in his sermons as 'the book of ulysses'. He made a deal with the book, feed it; and it will grant you life and freedom and a peak into the unknowable.
So Ulysses marches out across the land, seeking out the smallest most isolated places, to speak the truth written in the books pages, and let it have the spoils of the congregation.
He is not sure if the deal he has made is in anyway a Good one.
Charlie is a ghost.
Kind of.
Charlie Was a man, this is certain, and that man Did die, but his spirit remains and so he must be a ghost? Right? But see, it is unclear if the spirit that takes his apperance and calls itself charlie is fully or even partially the man that once was or just a new unexpected extension of the eternal entity that contains itself within the book.
Charlie was the books previous owner, a tall and sturdy man with a thick beard and long black hair. He was a loner and a wanderer, with a cheerful and disarming personality, the kind of person you would trust at your campfire without really thinking about whether you Should. He remains the only of the only of the books acolytes to ever feed it with his own flesh and time. This caused something of a feedback loop, and resulted in his spirits long entrapment within the entity of the book, and his manifesting as a ghost after ulysses took over as the books keeper.
The two do not make fast friends, but they are coming along, dealing with the horrible business they must attended to definitely brings them together, and though neither would readily admit it, the company is nice to have....
Thank you pumpkin!!!
