I made a ttte fic! based on these engines:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ant and Bee are small mining engines that pull ore, coal, overburden, and, of course, the mines workers. other engines call them "hobbits" but they know it's all in good fun, and they don't really mean to be rude.
One Day, On The Great Laxey Mine Railway...
"Ant, Bee..." Their Controller Boomed "Yes?" The two asked. "I am buying a new locomotive. They shall arrive soon."
"Do you have any more information?" Bee Asked. "Yes. They Shall Be a Battery Electric Engine. They will be unveiled at Valley Gardens at 6pm." he said. and walked off. Soon, the two were off to work, pulling ore, coal, and overburden from the mines, and workers to the mines. while at the water tower, they talked. "What do you think the new engine's name will be?" Ant asked "maybe fly?" Bee thought "or cockroach?" said Ant. suddenly, they heard a bell
"They must be calling us to see the new engine." the two went to see the new engine. "Hello." the engine said "I am Wasp." "Hello, Wasp! I'm Ant!" "Bleh! you smell horrid!" Wasp said "How Rude!" said Bee "It's true, Ant. have you Been cleaned?" the electric engine asked, "well...only lightly, this is a mining railway." Bee said, "So it would be redundant." They Continued. "speaking of" said Ant. "you have to take these flatbeds." Wasp Bashed into the foolish flatbeds carrying some new thumpers. "OW!" the flatbeds yelled. "We'll pave that green square out...'' they said. "No problem!" Wasp said. Wasp drove recklessly, bashing the flatbeds. though soon, they stopped in the mine. "Alright. unload the thumPAAAAAAAAA-" Screamed Wasp "ON ON!" the flatbeds screamed, and SMASHED into the mine. "OH NO!" said Wasp, as the mine COLLAPSED! the workers were all out, but Wasp Wasnt. "Don't worry!" said Ant. And Them, With Bee, Tied Ropes To Wasp. and pulled "GRRRRRRRRRRRR" after lots of pulling, They Finally Brought Wasp, The Flatbeds, and thumpers out. "now you know not to Bump flatbeds, don't you?" said Bee "Yes, I do..." Wasp said. soon the thumpers were breaking down the rocks, so the engines and miners could get back to work.

Subject - Infection progress of faceless engines
Infected engine; Talyllyn
Build date; 1864
Guage type; Narrow
Class; Fletcher & Jennings Class C locomotive
Total built; 2 originally, it's now being theorised that more than two were built in secret)
Tumblr media
At first glance, the engine looks normal. Though, the engine will start making clanking noises and will make a majority of creaking noises. Albeit faceless, Talyllyn is very much sentient like her twin and can't tell you if she feels unwell. It's up to you to keep an ear out. If the clanking or creaking noises continue despite repairs, quarantine the engine.
Tumblr media
The faceless engine's smokebox door will slowly come off the hinges. Black fluids may also leak out, but not every faceless engine will have leaking problems. The crew will also notice a slight stench coming from the smokebox.
Tumblr media
A new and more organic smokebox door, aka; the face, will develop through out each week. After the old door falls off, the skull will immediately push its way to the front, replacing it. Examine the engine when it's in this new stage. You will hear faint breathing, a sign that the lungs are beginning to develop.
Tumblr media
Stage 3 will forsee the growth of the face becoming a little more grotesque. Muscles and flesh begin to materialize on the skull, and breathing becomes more noticeable. Black fluids may leak out. The infected engine will begin to subtly twitch their jaw.
Tumblr media
Stage 4 has the muscle and flesh materialism continue, and the stench will get more foul and unbearable to withstand. The eyes may appear in this stage. Incoherent and raspy sounds may be heard.
Tumblr media
The face has fully appeared, but the skin will be a sickly colour, damp, soft and weak, and slightly bloated. The engine's face will be stuck in a shocked or dead expression, but is now able to move it. Do not touch the face.
Tumblr media
Face has ripened and became fresh. The engine will be mostly docile in the final stage, even after shedding their chassis. The engine's senses will be restored as well.

Tasha was not the first No.1 on the Tramway. In the first days of the Tidmouth Knapford & Elsbridge Tramway, a makeshift engine was built from a portable steam engine and a wagon chassis to help build the line.
No.1 Glynn was meant to be temporary. The boiler used was already 20 years old when the engine was built, it was loosely mounted, and the rest of the engine was whatever spare parts could be found at the time. The engine was top heavy, and was restricted to 4-5mph to keep it from tipping over. The belt connecting its flywheel to the driving axle didn't fit properly and slipped often due to it being a random spare part rather than purpose made. The engine also proved too tall to pass the first tunnel, as the railways planned tunnel clearence had proven too ambitious and had been reduced.
No.1's expected service time was number in months, maybe years counted on one hand if it was lucky. No.1 was lucky indeed. Built some time between the closing days of 1881 and the dawning days of 1882, No.1 would keep its original form to late 1885, when purpose built coffee pots No.2 and No.3 had entered service. However it didn't leave service to be dismatled or scrapped, instead it went in for rebuild to prepare it for permanent service. The traffic load for the fledgling railway was greater than expected, and managment realized they needed a spare engine in the heavy season, and rebuilding No.1 was their cheapest option, and would raise morale as the crews had become fond of the little iron beast.
As Summer gave way to Autumn and the traffic lessened, No.1 entered the works. The old wagon chassis was dismantled, and modified into proper locomotive chassis, although how much of the new frames were original was highly debatable. The boiler was overhauled and retubed before being reaffixed to the frames. The boiler was not only more secruly mounted, but seated much lower, solving the engines stability issues. The new lower boiler mounting also reduced the engines overall height, allowing it to finally pass through the tunnels to the rest of the tramway beyond. Finally, a new, purpose made drive belt gave the engine the ability to pull with its full strength for the first time.
By all accounts the rebuild was a success, and No.1 banking trains up the mountain grades or shunting in the yards bacame a commom sight on the TK&ER.
No.1 Glynn would serve over 30 years, but by time of the TK&ER's was forced to become part of the new North Western Railway in 1915, the engine was well and truly clapped out. When No.5 was purchased late in that year, No.5 was taken to the newly built Crovan's Gates Works to determine its fate. The results were grim. While the Chassis was reusuable, little else was, with some parts coming apart when in the workmen's hand when they tried to remove them. The works quickly claimed the chassis to use in building their new works shunter, but the question of what to do with the rest of the engine remained. Tnesion already heightened by the TK&ER forced absorbtion by the NWR skyrocketed when rumors spread the engine was to be scrapped. Most local historians and first hand accounts agree that only the fact the country was at war prevented a strike from occuring.
Eager to gain good will with the former TK&ER, the NWR annonced the surviving componets would be combined with a new makeshift chassis and donated to the Tidmouth Musuem for static display and preservation. The new works shunter Tasha shunted Glynn into place in early 1916, in what was by wartime standards a lavish ceromony, and the NWR used the opertunity to pass the No.1 to the new shunter, in recognition that Tasha's chassis orginal belonged to Glynn.
In the present day No.1 Glynn is still one of the musuems prized items, and is well taken care of. Decades of careful restoration work have allowed the engine to be moved once again, and once every blue moon the engine is allowed to steam (albeit at low pressure) for important events, such as the 100th annivery of the Line's construction.

(Hey, me again lol) Were the Narrow Guage engines affected at all in your monster au?
Mmm... See this is a tough one, and I've tried to give it some thought because I'm trying to put an actual storyline to this AU.
Most of the first infected were the big guys that would be located on the lower parts of Sodor, and not up in the mountains where the narrow gauges usually are. But here's the thing: those suckers can CLIMB. And climb good. They may not seem like they're made for such a thing but engines like Nia, Thomas, and Percy could straight up mountain goat across sides of mountains provided they have no cars and enough wiggle room to balance. And the bigger engines are able to effortlessly scale the railroad tracks up into higher areas, they can jump too. Lighter engines can go higher, but bigger engines have more power to go further, no matter what way you spin it, even Toby can get a bit of distance by jumping.
All this to say, the mountain engines would be safe for the length of time that the other engines were unaware of this while feral. Once it was discovered, the Skarloey Railway was advised to be on high alert, as Rebecca had found it very easy to get close to the railway all on her own...of course despite being feral, she wasn't aggro at the time. Just a very curious animal. But it still would be cause for alarm, because they retain memories from their feral periods. Were she to do so again while irritated, she could possibly cause infection in the narrow gauges herself or even bring her "siblings" (aka the tidmouth tank engines) up there (as the four have been observed sticking together more often) to take them out as a team. It's a very very big possibility that the mountain engines could be attacked at any time if they're not well guarded. But I want to say...as of right now...no? I'm not 100% certain, as you can see I've got ideas but I'm vary wishy washy on who is and who isn't, as I'm also unsure if Belle is infected. I can say with absolute certainty that the castle crew aren't infected though! They're very well protected due to historic value, and that protection was only increased when the monster epidemic started.

I plan to start on new designs for pokemon stickers/patches that will hopefully be ready by the start of October, and I'd like some input on which designs to pick (I want to narrow it down to 2-3 designs for the next release)! I'd also like to see if anyone would be interested in having those designs in other forms of merch as well!
And additionally, I'd like to guage for interest on the idea of a monthly sticker club on Ko-fi! Been tossing the idea of that for a while so there'll be questions related to that too (optional)!
I'll keep the survey up for about a week, so if you're interested, please give it a look!

Presenting NWT Lady. The Quarry's original shunter, she served from the early 1900s until the arrival of No.2 in 1951 allowed her to be placed into storage awaiting overhual. The collapse of that section of the Quarry saw Lady lost for nearly 20 years, the shed burried under the rumble, until Tasha stumbled upon the shed in the 70s. The TK&ET Preservation Society restored her, and she would be there flagship locomotive (in service) until the group purchased the Tramway in 1971.

if it’s cool to ask more how about Henry x bear Skarloey x Neil Den x henry (inspired by proper company on yt) Edward x 87546(edwards ally on yt) oh if ot3 r accepted how about Henry x bear x hiro or my fav narrow guage shipping Stanley (msr/rws) x kyle(proteus)x andreas(wnw)
Tumblr media
Let’s be real, these two are downright adorable together. “What’s this??? You’re coupling up to me??? A failed engine??? 😳” These two make me wanna bounce off the walls because the more you think about it, the more energy that you get. I eat drywall just by thinking about these two-
Tumblr media
I’ve seen posts of these two (I can’t remember from who though 💀) and they’re quickly becoming my new favorites! I’m not too familiar with the barrow gauge crew so this has helped me get more interested in them! They’re just…idk they just seem like that one super sweet couple that everyone supports and is happy to see them.
Tumblr media
Uuhh…I’m not familiar with Proper Company on YT so I’m assuming this ment Den the diesel. Pairing the tiny guy with the big buff guy is always a win in my eyes lol. They seem cute though! I’d like to watch this series!
Tumblr media
Again, not familiar with this series. I’m more familiar with the bully 87546, but since this series has a different headcannon for him then I can kinda see it. Having him be Ed’s ally is definitely a new take and sounds very interesting! I’d also like to see this series!
Tumblr media
Ok, when you mentioned that this ship was on A03, I spent a fair bit of time looking for it but I still can’t find it lol. Combining Hen x Bear and Hen x Hiro is an automatic win and I need this fanfic asap lmao.
Tumblr media
I have no idea who Andreas is unfortunately, but I can see where this ship is going! It gives me “Group of old men sitting at a table drinking tea and reminiscing on old times” vibes, but with one (1) ghost in the mix lol

how do u figure that ur better than average at something?
Well, as a narcissist, I hungrily internalize every scrap of evidence that I might be, and tantrum as long as it takes to stop believing/feeling any evidence that I'm not
First, a caveat: as I've gotten older, better, and (most significantly) emotionally healthier, I've gotten less confident that I'm better than average at anything. More on that in a bit.
For many things, there are two very strong, hard-to-dispute empirical tells of superiority, once you've been doing it long enough, and know enough to guage what the base rate is:
Actual measurable success - when I do the thing vs when other people do the thing, do I consistently, reproducibly tend to have better-than-average results? (Even if it's just in a way that only I value as better.)
Atypically high compliments/praise/feedback - this one is more liable to false positives, but if you're better than average at something, you'll start to get positive feedback which you eventually realize other people aren't normally/ever getting.
(bonus secret third thing, just congealed into a concrete point right now) Regularly being surprised/disappointed when you predict that someone will do better, because you didn't even conceive of their error/shortcoming. Conversely, people regularly act/speak in ways that only make sense if they couldn't conceive of you/anyone actually being at the level you're at.
There's some overlap: if you're better than average at helping people with mind stuff, empirical success looks like positive feedback from them about how good of insights/advice/perspective/etc you give.
But back to that caveat: are you sure the observable average in your life isn't actually worse than the real average? There's the competence reflection / mirror fog point, which is a good reminder that absent sufficiently obvious-to-us empirical results, we just literally might be unable to recognize if the average is better than us. Then there's selection bias! I am increasingly sure that I've been unintentionally repulsive to people who are better than me in certain ways. I also just spent a lot of my life very socially withdrawn and uninterested in getting to know people, and seeing everything from a very limited yet judgy and fault-finding perspective.
Having said that, a couple examples:
I have strong evidence that I'm better than average at certain aspects of software development because:
The defect rate of my software is a lot better than typical, as is my ability to fix defects that do come up (because if my code breaks, it's probably in a way I predicted as I wrote it, so I know exactly where and why, we/I just decided it was a better trade-off to move forward and find out empirically if it'll actually happen). This seems to hold true even when we narrow "average" down to devs with the same years of experience, and compare effectiveness over the same time scales, etc.
When I share my ideas/thinking at work, people become more effective as software devs (again in terms of bugs in their code, how easy their code is to improve/change later even for them, how quickly other team members understand their code, etc), they learn things about how stuff works, I get formal review feedback describing my role/actions as "mentoring" and having unusually deep technical knowledge, etc
etc etc.
I have strong evidence that how I think, my mental methods for knowing/improving myself and shaping my mind, are better than average along a couple dimensions that matter to me, because:
In the few serious emergencies I've been in where physical bodily harm was/seemed an imminent risk, I'm always the only one immediately solving the situation, while literally everyone else around me is stunlocked for several seconds with deer-in-headlights surprise/shock/fear/lack-of-any-gameplan (and it often clearly would've been a longer stunlock if I wasn't there explicitly or implicitly giving them direction).
Whenever I and someone else remember something differently and it's actually possible to actually check, I'm usually right (but again, per the caveat, perhaps I'm just insufferable unless you can lean on "well, he is right...", and worse memory would provide that).
etc.
There's others but I think that's good enough to make the point. Empirical evidence of greater success in some relevant way will always shine through eventually if you really are better, although sometimes it is very indirect. But also there's all sorts of confounding factors and possibility that the average is better than we can yet see.

I have a question that's bugging me for a bit, how big is Proteus? Because everytime I see him he looks very big even though he's a narrow Guage engine.
Well after my "bad accident" aka my death. I was taken away too be repaired, in addition of being experimented on. For what I honestly don't remember, but whatever it was..I'd needed too be fully rebuild into something "original", What a bad excuse.

Part Two
Rather than being escorted to a typical Coruscanti hotel, Rose was surprised to find herself loitering awkwardly in the foyer of Senator Solo’s penthouse suite.
“Pretty unusual to host warring factions in your personal residence,” she muttered as she was shown to her room.
Rey, as she’d introduced herself, friendlier than Rose thought typical for a Jedi, hovered near the door as Rose deposited her belongings onto the room’s holodesk.
“B— the Senator thinks a more intimate setting helps relax his guests.”
Rose tried not to make a face. She couldn’t think of anyone she’d like to be in an intimate setting with less than General Hux.
She eyed Rey.
“You don’t agree?”
The other woman shrugged, her casual attitude a breath of fresh air. Solidarity blossomed within Rose. She’d always felt a bit uneasy around so much pomp and circumstance when she’d visited Coruscant.
“I don’t trust the First Order,” Rey said.
Rose snorted. “That makes two of us.”
“Not so sure I trust the Resistance either,” the Jedi added, eyes narrowed to guage Rose’s reaction.
Rose tried to tamp down a ripple of annoyance. Not that the Resistance hadn’t made its fair share of messes, but she was damn sure they were far and away the better alternative for the galaxy when compared to the iron fist of the First Order.
But arguing that point wouldn’t persuade anyone. Action, rather than words, would win hearts and minds.
Instead of volleying back a counterpoint, Rose took a steadying breath.
“Maybe, with the treaty, we can change all that.”
Rey’s demeanor softened as she grinned. “I hope so. You’ve got your hands full with that General, though.”
Rose made a non-commital noise.
She'd dealt with Hux on a number of formal occasions, but this would be the first time they’d be sitting down to really try and hash things out in person. End the conflict. Bring about real, lasting peace.
It was a big job, Rose thought as she followed Rey back out into the formal receiving room.
She only hoped Leia had sent the right person for the job.
