In my personal experience, the women who suffer most under patriarchy are the sweet ones (not Schlafly, Shapiro, or Serena Joy) that romanticize themselves for embodying its ideals in the face of mistreatment. The women who silence themselves when suffering at the hands of a cruel man, because they're "just too soft" (said with meek self-sabotaging pride) to do anything other than take it. Abused women can take years to realize what they've subjected themselves to, if ever. They expected their meekness to be rewarded. "I don't know why he treated me that way even after I gave him so much — no one else has ever loved him as much as I did." Then, they look back at their youth and see a fool. They live with regret, wishing they could be 15 or 25 years old again.
there was a guy saying straight women have made leagues of progress in terms of accepting gay people in proportion to straight men and it was like. Jesus. you have never been a 14 year old lesbian in the girl’s locker room.

If you truly love something, let he, she, they or it know. Now, in this instance, I am talking about silent film, and it is the season for wearing your heart on your sleeve, so here’s an opportunity to do just that. Coincidentally, if you are the sort of person who has considered giving up talkies for Lent this is also very much right up your avenue.
