It's December 22nd, ♾️ National Mathematics Day in India. On this day in 1887, the brilliant mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan was born in Erode, Tamil Nadu. Ramanujan was responsible for advances in number theory, infinite series, and continued fractions, including solutions to mathematical problems until then considered unsolvable. Schools and universities throughout India celebrate his birthday now with math contests, games, demonstrations, and other educational events. In 2017, the day’s significance was enhanced by the opening of the Ramanujan Math Park in Kuppam, Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh.
Ramunajan's genius was obvious from childhood. By the age of 12, he’d mastered trigonometry and developed many of his own theorems. Ramanujan’s peers at the time said they rarely understood him and stood in respectful awe of him, but his ideas were too novel for the leading mathematicians in India to be bothered with.
In 1913, when Ramanujan was 25, British mathematician G.H. Hardy became enamored with his theorems and got him into Cambridge University. Ramanujan thrived in Britain and was soon elected to be a member of the London Mathematical Society. In 1918, at the age of 30, he became a Fellow of the Royal Society – one of the youngest persons to ever achieve this esteemed position.
Ramanujan returned to India in 1919 because the food in Britain didn't agree with him. His health continued to deteriorate, and he died in 1920 at the tender age of 32. His achievements in mathematics, however, continue to live on and grow ever larger. His notebooks of unpublished material are a source of new ideas to this day. Of his thousands of theorems, all but a dozen or so have by now been proven correct. A century after his death, researchers are still discovering that mere comments in his writings about "simple properties" and "similar outputs" were themselves profound and subtle number theory results.
It's no wonder that in 2012, former Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh declared Ramanujan’s birthday as National Mathematics Day to be celebrated across the country. ☮️ R.I.P., Younger Brother of Rama… Jamiese of Pixoplanet

While perhaps it's too early to call it a "masterstroke", Joe Biden stepping aside for Kamala Harris will probably turn out much better than any Democrat would have predicted a month ago.
Kamala Harris will likely be the next president of the United States – and that’s overall good news if you care about democracy, justice and equality. Joe Biden’s decision on Sunday to bow out of the presidential race clears the path for the country to elect its first woman and first woman of color as president.
For people who need a historical reminder...
[M]ost people in this country typically choose the Democratic nominee for president over the Republican nominee time and time again. With the sole exception of 2004, in every presidential election since 1992, the Democratic nominee has won the popular vote (Biden bested Donald Trump by 7m votes in 2020).
Now for more recent events.
If, in fact, support for Democrats among people of color is the principal problem, then putting Harris at the top of the ticket is a master stroke. The enthusiasm for electing the first woman of color as president will likely be a thunderclap across the country that consolidates the support of voters of color, and, equally important, motivates them to turn out in large numbers at the polls, much as they did for Barack Obama in 2008. The challenge the party will face in November is holding the support of Democratic-leaning and other “gettable” whites, especially given the electorate’s tortured history in embracing supremely qualified female candidates such as Hillary Clinton and Stacey Abrams. (The primary difference between Abrams, who lost in Georgia, and Senator Raphael Warnock, who won, is gender.) Sexism, misogyny and sexist attitudes about who should be the leader of the free world are real and Democrats will have to work hard to address that challenge. One critical step to solidifying the Democratic base is for all political leaders to quickly and forcefully endorse and embrace Harris’s candidacy. Mathematically, it is likely – and certainly possible, if massive investments are made in getting out the vote of people of color and young people as soon as possible – that the gains for Democrats will offset any losses among whites worried about a woman (and one of color, no less) occupying the Oval Office and becoming our nation’s commander in chief.
We shouldn't forget that the VP's mom was born in India. A number of people in the growing South Asian community in the US who may not be especially interested in politics will be tempted to pause their disinterest and vote for Kamala. India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh have all had female prime ministers – so there's not exactly a taboo about women in power.
One way to measure enthusiasm for Kamala is to look at how much money is being raised by ActBlue. Not all the money ActBlue raises goes to the national ticket. I donated to a US Senate campaign in June via ActBlue. BUT the timing of recent donations leaves little doubt what the cause of the recent spike is.
For context, first some recent weekly totals (source)...
Week of June 30 through July 6 — $65,220,920
Week of July 7 through July 13 — $48,669,913
Week of July 14 through July 20 — $61,349,601
As of Noon today (CDT): Week of July 21 through July 27th — $150,042,360 and the third day of the week is just a little over half over. In the previous hour alone, roughly $2.44 million was raised.
These are small donations, not like the $45 million per month promised by multi-billionaire Elon Putz to Trump. So grassroots Dems are stoked and are out for a win.
ActBlue is fairly no-nonsense, it's not exactly Amazon in layout. So people are not drawn there by flashy graphics.

its so comforting to see someone unbashedly love their country and culture. the way u write and speak of it its so refreshing to me. im from india and well, the state of our country isnt good our fascist leader is successfully dividing the people and its so rare these days to find ppl just simply love where they come from, culture and language without any hate for anyone else. so i absolutely adore it when i see u talk abt armenia its like one can see how much care u hold for the language and the country. wishing for peace and sending love x
I am sorry, dear, that dark clouds are looming over your bright and colorful land of magic. In my lifetime, I’ve had the pleasure of encountering a few young Indian people (both in real life and online), and I have a lot of love and respect for your nation and its culture. I am sure that brighter days are awaiting both our homelands.
You see, what I’ve noticed is that some people often confuse their fatherland with their government. The hatred that they have toward the latter often taints the love and respect they ought to have toward their homeland. But, once and for all, we must remember that these two are not synonymous. Fatherland is a place where the roots of history, culture and identity intertwine. A fatherland is not just a geographical location; it is a sanctuary of shared memories, values and traditions passed down through generations. It represents the collective spirit of a people, their history, struggles and triumphs. To call a place one's fatherland is to cherish it as a cradle of life, as one’s own home.
To me, the love one has for their fatherland is like a mathematical function that always moves towards infinity (its designated final value) but never quite reaches it. One can never love their fatherland enough. There’s always something more you can do, there’s always something better you can do. I guess the vessel that carries one’s love toward their homeland is only ever fully filled when one gives up their life to protect their fatherland.
I can only speak from my own experience – I was raised historically and, more or less, politically conscious. When you’re a six or seven-year-old impressionable kid and you visit The Museum of The Armenian Genocide of 1915, you see the photographs, the articles, all the documentation that exists – firstly, you’ll never be the same again, and secondly, your naïve childish brain thinks that, as you’ve always been told, whenever someone commits a crime or does something bad, they get punished. Then I looked around and noticed that these heinous crimes, these massacres, were not only left unpunished, but the whole thing was swept under the rug by the world, as if it never happened. Then you grow up, sharing borders with the enemy, the dagger of war swaying upon your head, with every new day bringing more and more deaths of Armenian soldiers serving on the border. You see your enemy disrespecting you, your history and your culture. You see them erasing your history and your culture … and all of this is accompanied by the crickets of the world. Then there’s Western Armenia calling for us, a topic that I plan on writing more about. And at last, our Ararat that you can see so very clearly from Armenia …
And, alongside this, there’s this immense pride you feel in being an heir to a nation that created a culture so distinctly beautiful, a nation that gave birth to luminaries such as Grigor Narekaci, Sayat-Nova, Hovhannes Toumnyan, Vahan Teryan, Eghishe Charenc, Daniel Varujan, Paruyr Sevak, Misak Metsarenc, Silva Kaputikyan, Hovhannes Grigoryan, Vardges Petrosyan, Martiros Saryan, Sergey Parajanov, Shahan Nathalie, Gurgen Yanikyan, Monte Melqonyan, and the list goes on … the nation that invented color television, ATMs, hand-held hair dryers, coffee machines, PET scans, MRI and so much more.
Have all of this brew in your soul and dare not to love and cherish your fatherland – you can’t.

Story
A masked and cold protector, Pietra’s determination and golden heart for his people and nation were the main factors that pushed the man to let go his life of luxury and take on a life full of pain, death, disappointments, broken hearts and suffering.
The once happy and cheerful singer turns into a cold-hearted and brutal protector when the horned mask is placed on his face, trying his hardest to leave that facade with his mask but finding it extremely complicated to separate the two, especially when it comes to his night terrors and difficult consequences attached to Pietra, but he’s lucky enough to have found people who care for him, willing to get close and remind the man that he’s not alone, that he has support and that it’s more than okay to detach to take care of one’s self.
Childhood
The son of one of the most intelligent engineers and inventors in Italy, his father’s cold-heart toward his ‘stupid son’ only increased as Massimo took a major dislike to any sort of mathematical subject and love for any sort of artistic and creative subject when he was a young kid; his father’s hope was that he’d grow out of it when he became older, but it never came true. Because of this, Massimo’s father began to disregard him, emotionally abusing him to the point of making the young boy feel stupid, even though he really wasn’t; having given up on his son, Massimo’s father refused to communicate in any sort of manner with his son, forcing him to come to Vishkar with him, never telling him what happened to his mother as well as not accepting his sexuality and using it against Massimo as another means of isolation from him.
For Massimo’s entire childhood, the man remembers one thing about his mother; her screams of pain and his father’s incomprehensible insults to her, a bruise to her eye and a single letter the following morning with the simple words ‘I’m sorry, amore. Love, mamma.’ Massimo’s mother is rarely talked of as the Italian man doesn’t like to bring her up, his only memory of her being that day.
Vishkar Corporation
In his early teens at the time (early13M), Massimo was forced to follow his father to Vishkar once Silvio was offered a high-earning position, caring less to ask for his son’s opinion, as for everything else.
Quickly, Massimo hated the place… He hated the teachers, the students, how bland the building looked, how distant and uncaring everyone was, especially how much he was undermined and casted out; because of his fame and reputation, students and teachers alike rendered him an outcast rather quickly as they deemed him a snob and arrogant alongside ‘not as smart as them’, which only added to Massimo’s dislike to mathematical subjects. Safe for one student, a year older than him but in a couple of the same classes; Niran Pruksamanee (early14M - late14N).
The Thai student always had been a fan of Massimo’s music and image, taking the opportunity to meet with him when the singer organised a music club, hoping to gain some interest from his peers, but to avail, safe for Niran who was the only student who attended said club before it was permanently shut down by school staff.
Within their mid-teens (late15M - early16N), Massimo and Niran understood that they both held romantic feelings for one another, beginning to date in secret when confessing to each other; the only one who knew about their relationship was Niran’s roommate Satya Vaswani, who was quick to realise Niran’s attention was caught somewhere else when he seemed more concerned about his messages than his work, among many other things that Niran was rather careless to hide and forget them about his desk and bed. The two lover’s feelings for one another grew intensely rather quickly (mid16M - late17N), so much so that both of them agreed that Massimo could announce to his fans that he is taken, but still keep Niran identity a secret.
Meanwhile, while Massimo opened up a new chapter in his life and finished his studies before than all his peers independently and separately from Vishkar (late16M), Silvio had created a bionic arm that could transform into a huge mech, the first of its kind, creating this machine to pass down to a man which would use said machine to protect Italy as Omnic attacks were on the rise again, but Massimo managed to see that the older man, who was in his early 20’s, cared nothing about the responsibility it took and only flaunted the possession of the machine, ignoring the trainings and preparations and lying to Silvio as well as Vishkar’s higher ups; Massimo understood that the man would do nothing to change and that Italy would fall into ruins at the hands of this man.
Deciding to amputate his own left arm (early17M - late17N), much to Niran’s major distress, Massimo managed to secure the machine and began to train with Vishkar, deciding to flee Vishkar in his late teens (late17M - early18N), despite the heartbreak that it caused the couple; saying their final goodbyes and giving their last kiss, Massimo finally departed with a heavy heart and tear filled eyes, having done what he could to keep his love with him, but to no avail.
It wounded both men deeply, but it wounded Satya as well, who Massimo gave no proper goodbye to as he didn’t want to cause anymore distress to his good friend who already had her plate full with other, more important worries; he wished he’d never done that, wishing that he gave his good friend a proper, heartfelt goodbye.
Italy’s Omnic War & Overwatch (New Blood)
With the new-found identity of Pietra, Massimo fought long and hard to save Italy and its people from the omnics, losing the mechanical arm just two years into the war which led to a self-amputation as the wound was too big to let heal; as quickly as he could have, Massimo returned to Vishkar Corporations, much to the Italian Military’s warnings and denies, searching for his father in hopes of stealing another arm and fleeing again, managing in his mission rather quickly and easier than he thought, finding the perfect fit to replace his fully lost left arm alongside half of his shoulder, dismantling the arm’s tracker and alarm and fleeing back to Italy.
This theft didn’t go unnoticed by Vishkar, who were quick to send out their best forces to hunt down Pietra; quickly enough, Italy’s borders were closed to any sort of Vishkar activity or employee in order to protect Pietra to allow him to keep doing his duty without any further worries, to which they succeeded in as Vishkar quickly gave up on the search, ordering Silvio to create another one, only for the man to suffer a stroke in his sleep and pass away.
With the war over after seven years, Massimo kept up his Pietra facade to still protect Italy from any sort of other threats, specifically to recurring omnics and Talon activity, to which Italy’s people were more than grateful for, keeping up his double life for other six years, until finally letting his mask sit for longer then he wore it as he was sure Italy was rid of all omnic and Talon activity.
Just after three moths, Pietra was visited by Cassidy on his day off, who was in search of new recruits for Overwatch’s recall; after a rather intense battle and concussion, Cassidy transported Pietra with himself along his way back to Watchpoint: Gibraltar, where Pietra met one of the medics by the name of Baptiste. Much to Massimo’s displeasure, Baptiste met him without his mask and knowing his true identity, attempting to keep this happening a secret by threatening the medic, unsuccessfully. Instead of successfully pushing the medic away and keeping him at a safe distance, Baptiste managed to get the man to open up, especially once Massimo began to wear his mask less and less in their shared quarters as well as dropping his facade, being more himself, to which Baptiste majorly appreciated.
Surely enough, once Massimo had opened up and began to share his struggles with his roommate, the two men grew close rather quickly, trusting one another with their past and present worries and problems, yet always reminding themselves that their primary relationship is doctor-patient in hopes to not let themselves get too attached to one another.
To this day, their relationship is still close, with the medic throwing in the occasional flirting, both of them knowing that it’s mere teasing between close friends.

Trivia
- Massimo’s name ‘Pietra’ was chosen by himself as he believed it would represent what kind of protector he wanted to be for Italy; firm, cold, strong and always there as someone to lean on when needed
- In his opening quote ‘I’d let myself burn if it meant saving them’, its unclear who he is specifically referring to
- Massimo writes his own songs and creates concepts for the music composition, passing it onto Sofia for approval; the music composition is executed by one of the top bands in Italy, which were extremely excited to work with someone as famous and talented as Massimo
- Massimo wrote music dedicated to Niran, but he never published it nor showed it to Niran, as he was too embarrassed to do so, even though he knew his boyfriend would appreciate it
- Massimo has called Niran ‘Niran’ when they first met, then began to call him ‘Bua’ once they got close, finally calling him ‘amore’ or ‘tesoro mio’ in private when dating, still sticking to ‘Bua’ when they were in public; Niran always called Massimo ‘Max’, then began to call him ‘khon dii’ or ‘tii rak’ in private when dating, sticking to ‘Max’ when they were in public
- Massimo was extremely fearful when meeting Satya as he was scared she would see him the same way the rest Vishkar scholars do; he was proven wrong and the two hit it off rather quickly
- Massimo kept Niran’s first biolight lotus he ever created, as Niran had given it to him as a gift for their first year anniversary, then integrating it into his new arm by pacing it into his shoulder and connecting wires to it, giving him a soothing and helpful healing pulse; Niran kept one of Massimo’s shirts, which the man had forgotten in Niran’s room when he left, sowing it to a medium-sized pink teddy bear Massimo had given him on their first year anniversary, then consistently sleeping with it at night or keeping it on his desk while he worked
- Neither Massimo nor Niran knew of each other’s whereabouts when they two separated, having no method of keeping contact as well as having very little time
- Their first kiss was with one another, during Massimo’s music club; neither of them mentioned it again before they began dating
- Massimo is gay, being openly so especially in his music
- Massimo is 1.83m/6ft, being said to be shorter than Cassidy, Baptiste and Niran but taller than Satya
- Massimo’s songs are very different genres; romantic, angst, rock, hard rock, pop, EDM
- Massimo’s music has its own app; the songs became so vast and numerous that Sofia chose to move the man’s music to a free app for all to install, as well as having accommodations for those who require them
- Sofia’s age is never specifically mentioned, but she is referred as ‘the older woman’, implying that she is, at minimum, 5-7 years older than Massimo
- The only ones who know of Massimo’s double life are Niran, Satya, Baptiste; Sofia knows as well, but she has never spoken on it to anybody, even to Massimo who suspects nothing
- Massimo has always worked solo, residing in the Base Di Difesa Italiana as a place to live as Pietra, never having sent out any other soldiers during the omnic war; Overwatch is the first time the man has worked in a team
- Massimo is always kind and friendly to his fans, even to paparazzi, to which Sofia disagrees with, but she knows the man is too kind to tell them off; whenever Massimo needs to tell the paparazzi off, he can’t help but feel guilty
- Massimo has always refused to have a bodyguard around him, even if he was strongly recommended it
- Sofia has always been Massimo’s manager and boss ever since the man began to get famous at a young age, wanting to work with Massimo instead of having Massimo work for him; she is the closest to a mother figure Massimo has in his life ever since his mother departed, having unintentionally called her ‘mà’, the shortened version of ‘mamma’, some times when he was younger
- Silvio has never been to one of Massimo’s concerts and refuses to listen to his music, preferring on having no radio or phone rather than listening to his son’s ’screechy and annoying voice’
- Sofia has never liked Silvio ever since they met, always doing everything she could to keep him away from Massimo, especially when he would come to her crying and sobbing about him
- Massimo would go with Niran during his travels, not caring those who saw them together and always being careful with PDA
- Massimo would use his wealth to buy things for Niran and Satya whenever they needed, passing them off as gifts as to not make the two feel guilty about ‘spending his money’
- Massimo was never really aware of the true extent of his wealth ever since he became 16, when Sofia agreed to show and explain the sum of his wealth to the boy as he became mature enough to understand the true and proper concept of money; even after this occurred, Massimo’s attitude toward his fortunes never changed, always using and asking for his money when he needed to buy something for himself or for others, but Sofia would sometimes give him her own money without him knowing
- It’s never really explained how much Massimo’s wealth truly runs, but it is known that his fortunes are ‘three thousand times more than the Pruksamanee family’, which can imply that Massimo could be a billionaire, or even more than that; it is shown that the man does buy extremely expensive things for the purpose of it serving those close to him and not only himself as the man is only selfish with his money when spending it for the basic expenses someone needs to live
- Even though Niran and Massimo dated when they were young, the two truly loved and cared for each other, finally understanding it one year in their relationship; the two never stopped loving one another, despite the fact that they were separated
- In game, Pietra and Lifeweaver have some matching skins; this is seen with their matching skin ‘Anubis & Anput’
- It is a known fact that Massimo knows a vast array of languages; it is known that he knows Italian, English, Thai, Spanish, French, Japanese, Chinese, Korean fluently, as well as working on leaning Russian, Haitian Creole, Dutch, German when he has his free time
Tumblr media
Wow, it has been a while since I posted anything on here!
Just remembered that character Wiki pages are a thing and decided to make one of Pietra!
This is not fully finished; it will be updated as chapters get added and as we all get to know the character together!
Hopefully you enjoyed this, even if it was long!

How to prepare for clat 2025
Introduction
The legal landscape in India beckons aspiring lawyers, and the first step toward a rewarding career in law is often through the Common Law Admission Test, commonly known as CLAT. In this blog, we delve into the intricacies of CLAT 2025, offering insights into the exam, preparation strategies, answer key analysis, and the subsequent result and cutoff procedures.
Tumblr media
Understanding CLAT Exam
The CLAT exam is the key that unlocks the doors to prestigious National Law Universities (NLUs) across India, offering courses in 5-year integrated LLB (UG) and one-year LLM (PG). Administered by the Consortium of NLUs, the exam covers a spectrum of subjects such as English, Current Affairs and GK, Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Mathematics for UG courses. For PG courses, it delves into Constitutional Law and other subjects like Jurisprudence, Torts, IPC, CrPC, CPC, Family Law, and IPR.
Beyond NLUs, CLAT scores open doors to 61 private affiliate colleges, broadening the scope for legal education. Furthermore, public organizations like ONGC and BHEL utilize CLAT-PG scores for recruitment, underscoring the exam's significance beyond academia.
Toppers' Strategies for CLAT 2025
Success in CLAT requires a holistic approach to preparation, balancing all sections of the exam. Relying solely on a few sections is impractical due to the variable difficulty levels each year. To crack CLAT 2025, aspirants should focus on two key aspects: concept building and practice.
Concept Building:
Develop a strong foundation in each section.
Understand legal concepts, stay updated on current affairs, and hone language and mathematical skills.
Regularly revise and consolidate knowledge.
Practicing and Analyzing:
Solve previous years' question papers to understand the exam pattern.
Identify weak areas and work on them systematically.
Take mock tests to simulate exam conditions and improve time management.
CLAT 2025 Preparation Strategy
Preparing for a national-level entrance exam demands a well-structured study plan and effective preparation strategy. Consider the following tips to enhance your CLAT 2025 preparation:
Customize Your Timetable:
Tailor your study plan based on your priorities, weaknesses, and daily study time.
Create a flexible timetable that accommodates all sections.
Task-Based Approach:
Focus on completing specific tasks each day rather than counting hours.
Break down subjects into manageable tasks to maintain focus and progress steadily.
Be Specific:
Detail your study sessions with specific topics, book names, and page numbers.
Clearly define what you aim to achieve in each study session.
Utilize Study Materials:
Incorporate the best CLAT books and study materials into your plan.
Ensure that you cover relevant materials and assignments effectively.
Track Your Progress:
Maintain a daily log of tasks and mark them as completed.
Stay organized and motivated by witnessing your progress.

CLAT 2025 Cutoff
The CLAT 2025 cutoff marks for UG and PG courses are released separately by the Consortium of NLUs after each round of counseling. These cutoff marks vary for different categories, including Open, PwD, SC, ST, and OBC. The cutoff marks represent the minimum score or rank required for admission to preferred law colleges.
Conclusion
Preparing for CLAT 2025 requires dedication, strategic planning, and a comprehensive understanding of the exam pattern. By following a customized timetable, a task-based approach, and utilizing study materials, candidates can enhance their preparation. The answer key and result analysis provide valuable insights for improvement. Aspiring law students should focus on maintaining a disciplined approach and staying motivated throughout their CLAT journey, as success in this exam is not just a gateway to prestigious institutions but also a stepping stone to a fulfilling legal career.

Challenges faced by UPSC aspirants
In India having a government job guarantees you the utmost prestige in your family. And it is truly justified as government exams are one of the hardest exams to crack. It needs:
High level of self-discipline
Great resilience power
Years of hard work
Good general awareness
A zeal to contribute towards the nation
Let us see what are the various challenges an UPSC aspirant faces while preparing for the exam.
Getting started: UPSC is no child’s play. There are so many options and so many things to take care of. Where to start, when to start and how to start? So many questions pop in mind at once. Some students spend a lot of time in planning, procrastinating it. While others do not plan enough and thus get confused on later stage.
Before taking a long dive in the ocean called UPSC, students should give a fair enough time to planning on how they going to start preparing. They should make a road map covering important factors like:
How early should they start preparing? The time needed for preparation varies person to person. It depends on everyone’s level of experience and situations. Every aspirant should firstly evaluate their current level of knowledge.
Will they be taking coaching? There are a lot of coaching options available nowadays, both online and offline. One should give it a great thought about which mode would be best for them as both have its own pros and cons.
2.Increasing competition: With significant rise in awareness and access to facilities, number of aspirants have been increasing day by day.  Reportedly, the count of students who apply for a UPSC exam has rose from 3 lakhs (approximately) to 11 lakhs (approximately) while the number of vacancies stands at a total of 1105. This increases competition.
3.Loads of Syllabus: UPSC exam tests your knowledge about every subject possible. It tests your knowledge about History, Geography, Economics, Political state of the country, Mathematics and much more. It becomes hectic to complete all on time.
It will require you to adapt a holistic approach and revise everything for at least 2 times.
4. Facing Family and societal pressure: As soon as people get to know that someone is preparing for UPSC exam, it automatically raises their expectations of that person. It does earn you a lot of respect but with that respect also comes a lot of pressure. Pressure of cracking the UPSC exam.
At times like this even motivating words can feel very overwhelming. Students should only focus on their plan and work towards achieving it. They should focus on doing better than yesterday.
One of the biggest challenges that a student faces is non availability of books in the market. An UPSC aspirant already has so many things to take care of so I have found an app that will take care of all your book related needs.

When my friend Lakshminarayana Ganti, an operations management and cybersecurity specialist from India, texted me this year to let me know that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) had “lost” the $1,225 check his lawyer had submitted as payment for processing his green card application, I wasn’t especially shocked. Such incompetence is commonplace in U.S. immigration bureaucracy, and most immigrants to the United States have experienced or heard of similar treatment.
The resulting delay though meant that his eligibility for a green card lapsed—the official term is “retrogressed”—and he could now be looking at another year or more before he can reapply. He has already been waiting nearly 10 years. Travel outside the country is severely restricted for green card applicants; he will miss the overseas wedding next February of his nephew, his only close relative currently living in the United States. Both he and his employer, a data management company in Washington, will face thousands of dollars in additional legal expenses to renew his work permit and refile applications.
Ganti has a great deal of company these days. At the end of 2021, there were 1.4 million immigrants on temporary visas working in the country and waiting for the U.S. government to issue them green cards that will finally give them permanent residence and a path to citizenship. David Bier, an immigration expert at the Cato Institute, calculates that the backlog is now so long that more than 200,000 eligible people could die without ever receiving their green card. Some 90,000 children of people in the backlog will “age out”—turning 21 years old without the permanent status in the United States that they would have gained if a parent had received a green card, at which point they must either leave the country, marry a U.S. citizen, or remain as an unauthorized immigrant. More than 80 percent of those caught in the backlog are from India.
The story about the costs and dysfunction of the United States’ ridiculous immigration system has and should be told—again and again. The United States is relying on its engineering and science talent to stay ahead of China in what has become an existential struggle to lead in the industries of the future, from artificial intelligence to green energy to bioengineering. At U.S. universities, international students make up 74 percent of graduate electrical engineering students, 72 percent of computer and information science students, and half or more students in pharmaceutical sciences, mathematics, and statistics. Foreign students who settled in the United States now head flagship high-technology companies, including Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai, IBM CEO Arvind Krishna, and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang. The obstacles thrown up by the immigration system are a growing economic and national security risk to the United States.
The short version of how the current immigration debacle unfolded is that due to partisan differences between Republicans and Democrats over immigration—which are deeper today than ever before—the U.S. Congress has not revised immigration quotas since 1965, when the U.S. population was almost 140 million people smaller. Nor has Congress revisited the rules for highly educated immigrants since 1990—which was before the U.S. information technology sector created millions of new jobs in technical fields that have attracted so many immigrant scientists and engineers. Reforming immigration has been difficult enough. But with the Republicans—who have become an openly anti-immigrant party under the influence of former U.S. President Donald Trump—likely to retake at least the House of Representatives in next month’s midterm elections, prospects for reform will be even dimmer over the next two years.
These antiquated laws impose arbitrary caps on the number of green cards that can be issued each year to nationals of any single country, which hits populous countries the hardest. Under the 1965 law, no more than 7 percent of the 140,000 employment-based green cards issued each year can be given to citizens of any one country. The backlog depends on demand, and a surge in applications can push back waiting times. Currently, the U.S. government is only processing employment-based green card applications for Indians with at least a bachelor’s degree—known as the EB-2 category—if they filed their application before April 1, 2012. Ganti’s “priority date” is July 25, 2013; if the Department of Homeland Security had not lost his application check, then he would have had his green card before the date retrogressed.
There is also a more personal story about the Kafkaesque horrors of the way the United States mistreats its immigrants—those, to be clear, who are following all the rules and behaving exactly as the U.S. government has asked them to. Most come initially as foreign students, and from the first day they arrive, they are expected to navigate a bureaucratic system of almost unimaginable complexity, with the penalty for even one small mistake potentially being the loss of their education, jobs, families, and friends—as well as their removal to a country they left years or even decades before. Immigrants awaiting green cards are forced to make personal decisions about which jobs to take, whether to buy property, and whether to marry—always with a nagging dread that the U.S. government could rip it all apart in an instant. Leaving an unpleasant or underpaid job is difficult because they risk losing their spot in the coveted green card queue. What the government does to immigrants is immensely cruel to people who want nothing more than to build good lives in the United States and are following the rules to do so.
In many ways, immigration to the United States has become an elaborate scheme of bait and switch. U.S. universities are only too happy to receive large tuition checks from foreign students, who often come from wealthy families or are otherwise ineligible for financial aid. U.S. companies are happy to hire them on temporary work visas, of which the most common is the H-1B visa for university graduates. But having invited them in, the government then makes it impossible for many to live any semblance of a normal life. As Rajika Bhandari, an Indian American social scientist, puts it in her recent book America Calling: A Foreign Student in a Country of Possibility: “Too often, when international students choose to stay, they face a downward spiral into a deep, dark abyss of rules, visas, delays, fear, and worst of all, a crippling uncertainty about their future.”
Indian students are well aware of the risks, Today, more are heading to Canada than to the United States—even though the former has around one-tenth the population of the latter—largely because they see a more realistic path to successful permanent residence and citizenship. The loss will be felt more acutely with the continued decline of Chinese students at U.S. schools; amid growing U.S.-China tensions and China’s zero-COVID restrictions, student visa applications from China fell by more than 50 percent during the first half of this year compared to pre-pandemic levels.
I came to know Ganti the first time the U.S. immigration bureaucracy tried to rip away his life. He came to the United States as an engineering student in 1996, when the green card wait was several years at most. He was encouraged by his father, who taught electrical engineering for many years at the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, and he won a scholarship to attend Purdue University in Indiana. Ganti went on to earn his MBA from Babson College in Boston and was hired in 2006 as a quantitative analyst by a financial company.
He had reached out to me early in 2009 because of my writing on issues of immigration and national security. Some 16 months earlier, he had traveled back to India to visit his family. Expecting that his work visa would be routinely renewed for him to return to his job in Boston, he instead got caught up in the often arbitrary and lengthy scrutiny that faced unlucky visa applicants for many years after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. He waited month after month without any word from the U.S. State Department on when his visa might be issued. In all, he was trapped back in New Delhi for more than two years and lost his job in the United States. When he finally got a new job offer to return and applied for a new visa, he ended up caught in a second lengthy review. In neither case did the U.S. government explain the rationale for the delays.
I testified about his case and others to Congress in 2011; his visa was finally approved shortly after, and he was able to move to Washington. We became friends. He came to dinner at my home and watched our kids in school musicals. I met his parents and his nephew. We have visited many times since.
Ganti is a good and trusted citizen, if the word “citizen” has any meaning. But with the exception of the two years he was stuck back in India, he has now lived in the United States legally for 26 years without the slightest assurance that he will be permitted to stay, and he still risks being locked out again for arbitrary reasons if he travels abroad.
There is little legal recourse for those caught in situations like Ganti’s. Immigration lawyers have been filing a record number of so-called mandamus cases—three times the number of just two years ago. These are a type of legal action that can force the government to speed up the processing of work permits and travel authorizations. In addition to statutory waiting times, DHS often takes many months or longer to handle routine document requests, and the delays became much worse in the wake of COVID-19-related shutdowns. But processing delays are not the biggest issue. Indeed, under the Biden administration, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (the DHS agency that processes claims), has made some significant progress. This year, it has issued some 280,000 green cards, double the normal number, using provisions that allowed the agency to “recapture” green cards that were not issued in 2021, largely because of pandemic shutdowns.
The bigger problem remains the outdated quota restrictions imposed by Congress. In the latest of many efforts at a partial remedy, House Democrats included in their version of the CHIPS and Science Act provisions that would have created exemptions from annual green card limits for foreign nationals with a doctorate in science or technology as well as for those with a master’s degree in “critical” industries like semiconductors, where U.S. need for highly skilled workers is growing. But the measure was blocked by 89-year-old Iowa Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley, a longtime opponent of the entire H-1B program who is up for reelection in November. Other legislative initiatives have also been blocked by Republicans, continuing two decades of failure to reform any significant aspects of U.S. immigration law.
Immigrants like Ganti will keep coming, though in significantly smaller numbers in recent years, because of the hope and opportunities still offered by the United States. But unless something dramatic changes in U.S. immigration law—which seems less likely now than ever—they, too, will be betrayed by the country they have chosen.

Abu Rayhan Muhammad ibn Ahmad al-Biruni a/k/a Al Biruni (973 - 1050) was an Iranian scholar and polymath during the Islamic Golden Age. He has been called the "founder of Indology", "Father of Comparative Religion", "Father of modern geodesy", and the first anthropologist.
Al-Biruni was well versed in physics, mathematics, astronomy, and natural sciences, and al distinguished historian, chronologist, and linguist. He studied almost all the sciences of his day. Royalty funded Al-Biruni's research and sought him out. Al-Biruni was influenced by the scholars of other nations, e.g. the Greeks, from whom he took inspiration when he turned to philosophy. He knew at least six languages. He spent much of his life in modern-day central-eastern Afghanistan.
In 1017 he travelled to the Indian subcontinent and wrote a treatise on Indian culture titled Tārīkh al-Hind (History of India), After exploring the Hindu faith practiced in India. He was, for his time, an admirably impartial writer on the customs and creeds of various nations, his scholarly objectivity earning him the title al-Ustadh ("The Master") in recognition of his remarkable description of early 11th-century India.

12/22/2022
Good morning, everyone! Amusing myself by saying today's date, twelve, twenty-two, twenty, twenty-two! *giggles* There! Said it again! It just rolls off the tongue with a tickle!
I also found controversy with today's date already! Seems the Winter Solstice date is not exact! Google Search has the date in a box in the upper part of the page:
Tumblr media
Right below it is an entry from TimesNow that says:
"Winter solstice: December 22, 2022, will be the shortest day of the year. Tomorrow we will observe the longest night of the year."
I always thought the solstice was on the 20th of the month. So much for exact science! Okay, I know the dates and seasons can vary a little bit because of .... well, whatever it is.
Today is also National Mathematics Day! I don't know if that is just in India but here, too.
12/22/2022 is also National Re-gifting day, National Date Nut Bread Day, (remember to re-gift that Date Nut Bread), and National Forefathers Day, which is the anniversary of the first pilgrims landing on the shores of North America is observed.
It is also National Short People Day. In honor of that I am sharing a golden oldie tune by Randy Newman:
youtube
I never liked the song because it is so mean.  Newman intended the song to be a satire about prejudice. I don't understand how it became a hit . It was used in the movie Toy Story (1995). Interesting to note, Randy Newman's height was 6'0"!

In this article, we will explore why CBSE schools are the preferred choice for parents in Bhopal and highlight the key features that set them apart from others.
1. Importance of Choosing a CBSE School in Bhopal
Bhopal, being a hub of educational excellence, hosts many schools affiliated with different boards. However, CBSE schools have become a popular choice for several reasons.
1.1 National Curriculum
CBSE schools follow a nationally recognized curriculum, which ensures uniformity across the country. This is especially beneficial for students who might need to relocate due to their parents' job transfers, as CBSE schools across India follow the same syllabus. A CBSE school in Bhopal provides students with an education that meets national standards, ensuring they stay competitive.
1.2 Focus on Holistic Development
While academics are a major part of any school’s offering, CBSE schools emphasize overall student development. These schools nurture creativity, critical thinking, and physical well-being through various programs and activities. The curriculum integrates co-curricular activities such as sports, arts, and cultural events, allowing students to explore and enhance their non-academic skills.
2. Key Features of a CBSE School in Bhopal
2.1 Student-Centric Learning
A CBSE school in Bhopal adopts a student-centric approach to education, where learning is designed to cater to the individual needs of students. The CBSE curriculum encourages active participation, inquiry-based learning, and hands-on experiences, ensuring that students not only learn but also understand the application of knowledge.
2.2 Qualified and Experienced Faculty
Teachers are the backbone of any educational institution. A CBSE school in Bhopal ensures that its teaching staff is highly qualified and experienced. Regular training programs are conducted to keep teachers updated with the latest pedagogical techniques. This enhances the learning experience, ensuring students receive guidance that prepares them for the competitive world ahead.
2.3 Advanced Infrastructure
Modern-day learning requires state-of-the-art infrastructure. A CBSE school in Bhopal is equipped with advanced facilities such as smart classrooms, science and computer labs, and well-stocked libraries. These amenities ensure that students have access to the latest resources, allowing them to stay ahead in their studies.
3. Academic Excellence at CBSE Schools
3.1 Well-Structured Syllabus
The CBSE syllabus is known for its well-structured content. It covers all major subjects like Science, Mathematics, Social Science, and Languages comprehensively, ensuring a strong foundation for students. Regular assessments, projects, and hands-on learning activities are integrated to make the syllabus engaging and interactive.
3.2 Emphasis on Conceptual Understanding
Rather than rote learning, the CBSE curriculum focuses on conceptual understanding. A CBSE school in Bhopal encourages students to delve deeper into subjects, enabling them to grasp core concepts and apply them in real-world scenarios. This prepares them not only for exams but also for competitive exams such as JEE and NEET.
3.3 Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE)
The CBSE board follows the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation system, which ensures the overall development of the student. This system not only assesses academic performance but also evaluates skills such as teamwork, leadership, and communication. This holistic evaluation helps students in a CBSE school in Bhopal to develop a well-rounded personality.
4. Co-Curricular and Extra-Curricular Activities
4.1 Sports and Physical Education
Physical well-being is just as important as academic excellence. A CBSE school in Bhopal offers excellent sports facilities, encouraging students to participate in physical activities. Schools often organize inter-school sports competitions, where students can showcase their talents in a variety of sports such as basketball, cricket, athletics, and more.
4.2 Arts and Culture
Art, music, and drama play an important role in nurturing a student’s creative abilities. CBSE schools provide various platforms for students to engage in artistic and cultural activities. These schools in Bhopal host annual events and cultural fests that promote artistic expression and foster a sense of community among students.
4.3 Life Skills and Leadership Programs
A CBSE school in Bhopal focuses on building essential life skills such as leadership, decision-making, problem-solving, and communication. Students are encouraged to take part in leadership programs, Model United Nations (MUN) events, and social responsibility projects. These activities ensure that students emerge as confident and responsible citizens.
5. Parental Involvement and Support
5.1 Parent-Teacher Interaction
A strong relationship between parents and teachers plays a pivotal role in a child’s education. A CBSE school in Bhopal conducts regular parent-teacher meetings, keeping parents informed about their child’s progress. These meetings also provide a platform for parents to share their concerns and collaborate with teachers in the child’s development.
5.2 Workshops for Parents
Understanding the changing dynamics of education, CBSE schools also organize workshops for parents. These workshops help parents stay informed about the latest teaching methodologies, stress management techniques, and how they can support their child’s academic and emotional well-being at home.
6. Preparing Students for the Future
6.1 Career Counseling and Guidance
Career guidance is an essential part of the education provided by a CBSE school in Bhopal. Career counseling programs help students understand their interests, strengths, and career options. Through these programs, students receive valuable advice on career choices, higher education, and preparation for competitive exams.
6.2 Technology Integration in Learning
With the rise of digital technology, schools have started incorporating tech-driven learning solutions. A CBSE school in Bhopal integrates smart learning solutions such as e-learning platforms, online quizzes, and virtual classrooms. This allows students to keep up with the latest developments in technology and become proficient in using digital tools for learning.
6.3 Global Exposure
CBSE schools often collaborate with international institutions, providing students with global exposure. Programs like student exchange programs, international competitions, and global forums are organized, helping students connect with their peers from different parts of the world. This prepares them for higher education and work in a globalized world.
7. Admission Process in a CBSE School in Bhopal
7.1 Eligibility Criteria
The admission process for a CBSE school in Bhopal typically starts with an eligibility check. Students are admitted based on age and academic performance in the previous grade. For junior classes, schools may conduct interviews or basic entrance tests to assess the readiness of the child for formal education.
7.2 Application Procedure
Parents looking to enroll their children in a CBSE school can apply through the school’s online portal or by submitting the required documents to the school office. The documents generally include proof of age, previous academic records, and any other relevant certificates.
7.3 Entrance Tests (for Higher Classes)
For higher classes, schools may conduct entrance exams to assess the student’s academic ability. These tests help determine the student’s readiness for the curriculum and allow the school to gauge their performance in core subjects like Mathematics, Science, and English.
8. Conclusion
Choosing a CBSE school in Bhopal offers several advantages, from academic excellence to holistic development. These schools prepare students not only to excel in their academic pursuits but also to become well-rounded individuals capable of facing future challenges. With a balanced approach to learning, strong infrastructure, experienced faculty, and opportunities for personal growth, a CBSE school ensures that students get the best possible education.
For parents looking for a quality educational experience for their children, enrolling them in a CBSE school in Bhopal is a step toward a brighter future. The school environment nurtures their potential, fosters their talents, and prepares them to succeed in both their academic and personal lives.
