I spent most of my teen years with my family on the outskirts of a small town in the middle of the State of Maine. We moved there a couple months before I turned 13 and I went off to college a month or so before I turned 19. Behind our house was a field that ended at a forest that stretched a mile or soon one direction from town and width wise was about half a mile. In the middle was a stream beavers had dammed up to make a pond. Nearby was a clearing that I used to camp in. We were visited by dear and small creatures like chipmunks. There was also a log that a ruffed grouse used to drum on. I really loved my little taste of Wilderness. So I will try and share with you the sounds and sights of a Maine Woods. I'm more of a great indoorswoman, but sometimes I have to push through my comfort zone to discover a new world, especially to see it through my kid's eyes.  So I left my cozy house and went out in the rain for an adventure. Port Clyde Light - Port Clyde looked mighty fine yesterday. I made the drive down after work and wandered around, searching for compositions. The light from the departing storm was really nice and soft with all the moisture in the air. Nothing compares to the meditation of looking at light and lining up elements within the frame. After that, there's bringing the image to life on the computer and then writing words to accompany. The sense of purpose that comes along with making art is profound.
