“That night John and George picked up Estelle and me in a limousine for a feast of ribs and chicken at Sherman’s Barbecue on 151st and Amsterdam in Harlem. And they loved it. Sherman’s is just a little takeout counter today, but back in 1964 it was beautiful, with lots of tables and a great big jukebox in back. But for the Beatles, the best part of all was that they could eat in peace. They may have been mobbed at the Plaza, but very few of their fans followed them into Harlem. The Ronettes - “Be My Baby” (1963)

The Ronettes’ WALKING IN THE RAIN (from "Presenting the Fabulous Ronettes featuring Veronica") was their third single of 1964, not counting the "Veronica" release earlier that year, this ballad by Barry Mann, Cynthia Weil, and Phil Spector became a slightly larger hit for The Ronettes than their last two top 40 entries. Peaking in the upper reaches of the Billboard top 30 at #23, and in the Cash Box Top 20 at #20, this song actually featured the sound effects of a summer storm, along with Phil Spector's signature "Wall of Sound." "Walking In The Rain" was climbing up the charts that Fall when the trio's album, "Presenting The Fabulous Ronettes featuring Veronica" was released. The song, along with its B-side "How Does It Feel," was included on the album, along with all of the group's past top 40 hits.

"Walking In The Rain" is Ronnie Spector's favorite song that she recorded, right next to "Be My Baby." This same song also earned Phil Spector his only Grammy Award, for 'Best Sound Effects.'

Jay & The Americans released a cover version of this song in 1970, on their album "Wax Museum Vol. 1" Their version peaked even higher on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 at #19. Other artists to record the song include "The Walker Brothers," Cheryl Ladd, The Partridge Family, and "Reparata & The Delrons." [October 1964]

The phrase had been heard by several and was even used a lot on videos when depicting something that was known to be relatable to many.

In the year 2010, Arizona-based singer and multi-instrumentalist Owen Evans created the Roar. He first released the project's debut 'I Can't Handle Change, as a response to Asleep in the Sea's disbandment. The album 'I Can't Handle Change' contains six songs, along with the infamous 'Christmas Kids.'

Phil and Ronnie Spector:

Ronnie was just 17 when she first met Phil, who was 24 at the time.

In the late 1950s, Veronica Yvette Bennett, mostly known as 'Ronnie Spector, formed a girl group called "The Ronettes" along with her sister Estelle Bennett and cousin Nedra Talley. The Ronettes later signed a record label with Phil Spector and Lester Sill's 'Phillies Records' in 1963.

The 'I Can't Handle Change' album has a cover of Phil and Ronnie Spector. The couple got married in the year 1968, following a divorce in 1974.

Be My Baby: How I Survived Mascara, Miniskirts, and Madness, or My Life As a Fabulous Ronette

Ronnie recounted the specifics of her experience with violence perpetrated by her then-husband Phil in her memoir "Be My Baby: How I Survived Mascara, Miniskirt, and Madness" in 1990. On where she had reveal on how Phil had locked her inside their Beverly Hills Mansion. According to her, Phil would often be emotionally and physically abusive towards her--where he would hit her and even threaten her with a gun. He would force her to stay at home to the point of isolating her from her friends and family.

"I can only say that when I left in the early ‘70s, I knew that if I didn’t leave at that time, I was going to die there," she wrote.

It was also alleged that Phil had kept a caskets--threatening that she will display her corpse if she were to escape and leave him.
