Neil helps his best friend's sister with Latin. The problem is - he has a crush on her, but knows they could never be together. After all, he couldn't date Charlie's family, it's against the rules. And secondly - Neil is sure Y/n wouldn't have ever talked to him if it wasn't for the tutoring.
Pairing: Neil Perry x dalton!fem!reader

Tutoring
"Thank you for helping me, Neil." Y/n said as she closed the door of her room. She stopped for a moment and then added, "I didn't ask if you wanted something to drink. Shall I bring tea? Coffee? Juice?"
"Water would be perfect," Neil sent the girl a smile.
As Y/n walked to the kitchen for two glasses of water, Neil unpacked his bag. He had some notes that could be helpful for whatever Y/n could need help with. He was a year ahead, so the things she was learning now, he knew cold.
At least tutoring let him spend some time with Y/n. Charlie wouldn't have a problem with his best friend and his sister having a thing, but that wasn't the problem. The Daltons were rich and that was the problem. If it wasn't for the tutoring, Y/n probably wouldn't even have talked to Neil. Neil's family wasn't poor, they had enough money to send him to Welton, but his father worked hard for this.
"Okay, I'm back!" Y/n announced, setting the cups with water on her nightstand, far away from the books.
"Great, so, what do you have a problem with?" Neil asked, taking a seat by Y/n's desk.
The girl sat down on a chair next to him, smiling. "Oh, you know... Latin." She giggled awkwardly, putting a strand of her hair behind her ear.
Oh, how beautiful she looked in that moment. A bit blushed, smiling awkwardly. Neil was mesmerized and almost forgot what he came here for.
"Yes, but what in particular?" He tried masking his infatuation. And he was good at it so far.
"You know what, the desk feels uncomfortable for two people, doesn't it?" Y/n grabbed the book and tossed it onto the bed. "Let's sit there, shall we?"
And so they did. In front of each other, with their legs crossed. Neil forgot about his glasses, but he quickly reached into his bag to search for them.
Now Y/n seemed to be a little mesmerized. She hadn't seen him wearing glasses before and that was a very flattering model for him. Neil looked so attractive.
"Glasses suit you," the girl complimented, "do you ever wear them, you know, outside of studying?"
"No," he chuckled, "I don't need to." Right after this he said it, he scolded himself, in his head of course, for saying it. To make it less awkward he added, "Although thank you."
"No problem." Was it Neil's brain playing tricks on him, or did Y/n sound disappointed by his reply? "Okay, so let's start."
"What shall we start with? Do you wanna start from the beginning, or...?"
"No, no, not from the beginnings. I understand the basics, but it's get pretty difficult later on..."
"Yeah, languages have that thing where they get harder the more advanced they get."
The joke made Y/n smile. She pushed Neil playfully and he theatrically pretended it hurt him.
"Maybe we should start with ACI?"
"Accusativus cum infinitivo," Neil smiled at the memory of Charlie laughing at the word 'cum' every time, but to Y/n it just seemed like a kind smile sent to her. "Alright, let's start."
«────── « ⋅ʚ♡ɞ⋅ » ──────»
"I don't get it, Neil, I just don't!" Y/n whined pathetically. She felt truly hopeless if even Neil couldn't help her.
"No, Y/n, calm down, please, and listen to me." He ordered in a lower, but still kind voice.
Y/n looked at him with worry in her eyes. Worry and fear, but she wasn't scared of him. She was scared of not passing the class, failing her whole education.
Her eyes are so beautiful, Neil thought, she looks like a lost, little doe.
"I know what your problem is," he continued, "you don't know the declensions."
"Well, have you seen how many of those are there?"
"Yes, there are five. But why can't you remember them? From what I've seen today, you don't have a problem with conjugations."
"There's only four of those. And they just make more sense, you know? They feel natural to me. Meanwhile how am I supposed to remember it's puella, puellae, another puellae, puellam, puella with the funny line above the a and vocativus is the same as nominativus?"
"Not to brag, but I must be a really good teacher because you've just recited the first declension in singularis."
"I did?" Y/n beamed at the realization. "Neil, you're amazing!" She threw herself onto Neil, closing him in a very tight hug.
They were laying down on the bed. Neil was on his back and Y/n was on top of him. This moment lasted a bit longer than it was appropriate.
Y/n raised herself up, she went back to sit in the spot she was. She realized how inappropriate it was. She thought Neil must've felt so awkward right now. So she began apologizing and explaining.
"I'm sorry." She said. "I made it awkward, didn't I? I don't know what got into me. I guess I just- I don't- okay, there's no explanation," she knew she might take the explaining too far, but she didn't know how to stop this stream of words. "There is an explanation, actually. I like you, yes you've heard it right, I like you. More than a friend, I've had a crush from you since I met you."
Neil sat back in the cross-legged position. He was astonished by this confession. Not because he didn't feel the same. The thing was he did feel the same, but had no idea Y/n would, so he never prepared himself for this moment. He didn't know what to say, because it seemed so impossible to him. It was never supposed to happen.
"Oh no," a whine came from Y/n's mouth, "I knew I shouldn't have said that. I'm so sorry, again. The way we looked at each other today, I thought the feelings were mutual."
"Y/n, calm down." Neil tried to keep his voice relaxed. He didn't want to make himself seem too excited, that could creep the girl out. "I do feel the same."
"You do?"
"I do, I just didn't know you would. That's why I've tried to keep it to myself."
His confession gave Y/n a bit of confidence. "You weren't so good at keeping this a secret today, the way you looked at me was... giving me signals, let's say."
When this problem was solved, there arised another. What were they going to do with it?
"So... what happens now?" Y/n asked.
"I'm asking myself the same question."
"Should we tell Charlie?" Tell him what though, Y/n? Y/n asked herself, This confession didn't change anything, you're not suddenly dating.
"No," Neil laughed, "I don't think he's ready. I don't think he's mature enough."
Y/n nodded with a smile on her face, but didn't say anything. So Neil continued.
"Would you like to start going on dates?"
"Sure, I would love that. What's your first date idea?" Y/n gave Neil a cheeky smile.
Neil's hand suddenly happened to be on Y/n's, intertwined by the fingers. "I will take you to my rehearsal. Afterwards, we can go eat something or have ice cream. What do you say?"
Without an answer, the girl scooted closer to him. Eventually, she gave Neil a reply. "I say, it is a nice idea. You must look so good on the stage, doing what you love to do."
In that moment, Neil blushed, but what made him blush even more, was Y/n's next action. She put her hand on his jawline and pulled him in for a kiss.
He didn't hesitate to kiss her back, but decided to let Y/n stay in control of the pace and everything else. It was a slow, very romantic kiss. It wasn't awkward, it felt as if they kissed so many times before, their lips co-worked just perfectly.
Soon, Neil's hands found their way to Y/n's waist to pull her closer. A moment later, the lovers were laying down on the bed again. But it wasn't going to go anywhere further than this kiss. Neither of them were ready, besides they've just confessed their feelings, it would be too quick.
After a while, Y/n pulled away, letting Neil and herself catch a breath. She laid down next to the boy, taking his hand in hers. She felt him rub her hand with his thumb. It felt so reassuring. Whatever happens later, we'll get through it.
If Charlie finds out, then he finds out and there's nothing he can do about it. If he doesn't like it, it's his problem, he should be mature enough to understand it.
If the parents find out, either Y/n's or Neil's (it didn't matter, because whoever found out, they would tell one another), then that would be a problem. But Neil was sure he would do something about it, he would make up a solution. It wouldn't be the first time he went against his parents' will.
In the worst case, Y/n and Neil would have to wait until they finish high school. After that, they would be adults, free to do whatever they wanted to. Whatever was going to happen, everything would work out in their favour.

Your smile brightened when you felt the ocean breeze caressing your face. “Neil!” you said enthusiastically as you pointed at the white sand displayed in front of you.
Behind you, Neil let out a chuckle before walking to your level, holding the picnic basket. “Shall we?” he smirked, taking your hand in his. You nodded eagerly, excited to spend the afternoon at the beach with your boyfriend.
You found a spot where you weren’t surrounded by people before settling everything down. When you were done you laid down on your beach towel and sighed contently. Neil joined you quickly, both of you admiring the lightly clouded sky.
When the weather started to get brighter, you felt Neil shifting next to you “What are you doing?”
“Sunscreen,” he said, pulling out the tube from the bag. You whined a bit, you hated the feeling of the cream on your epiderm. “You need it, love. Don’t want your skin to burn.” Unwillingly, you took off your shirt, finding yourself in your bathing suit only. You showed your back to Neil and let him apply the sunscreen. He was gentle with you, taking his time to cover each parcel of your body. He finished by pressing a soft kiss to your shoulder.
“Thank you,” you said, “Do you need help?” Neil nodded and you did the same as he did with you. Just as gently and just as softly.
Neil got up and held out his hand for you to take. You stood up and both of you started to run towards the sea, letting it engulf you. The salty water carried you slowly and you held each other hands. Your laughs melted with the sound of the waves hitting the shore as you messed around.
You looked at Neil, with his wet hair falling before his eyes and his smile capable of lightening an entire room, you found him more beautiful than ever. With a laugh, he tilted his head down before kissing the corner of your lips. “You’re so pretty, love,” he said as if his own words mirrored your thoughts.
“You’re more.”
“You think I’m pretty?”
“Mmh,” you hummed. You let a wave carry you closer to your boyfriend and you snaked your arms around his neck, your lips brushing his “Very pretty…,” you said before leaning in and kissing him tenderly.
Amused but seduced, he kissed you back with a laugh. At some point, you finally pulled away only to find the sky above you had turned grey “No…” you whined, hiding your face in the crook of his shoulder.
“Let’s get back there.” You both swam to the froth and headed to your towels. With a sigh, you laid down. You curled up by Neil’s side, resting your head on his chest “I’m so happy to be with you, my love,” he said as he kissed your temple.
You smiled into his chest “Me too,” you whispered. You relax in his arms, appreciating the feeling of his hands tangled in your hair. Without even trying to stop yourself, you fell asleep in Neil’s arms, lulled by the sound of his heartbeat and the waves.
Neil watched you with a smile on his lips. You were so perfect even when sleeping. Each day he felt more and more in love with you, you didn’t even need to do anything, your presence was enough for him to melt.
“You’re so pretty, my love.”

Please let me know if I missed anything!
Contains - Neil crying, Neil's dad (Mister Perry hate club)
Author’s Note - As is consistently the norm, please make no hesitation to leave any comments or to provide me with any and all constructive criticism. This is based on the scene early in the movie when Neil's father comes into his dorm after Neil thought he had left. Enjoy <3
Tumblr media
I knew something was wrong the second he walked in the door to my dorm room, no matter how much he protested.
"It's open!" I called upon hearing a soft knock on my door.
Standing straight, having retrieved the dress shirt I was digging through my case to find, I had a full view of my sweet boyfriend, Neil Perry.
"Neil!" I exclaimed, running at him and embracing him in a bone-crushing hug.
"Hi, Y/N," he whispered into my neck, soft breath caressing it in a welcome breeze.
Pulling back so as to see his face properly, I knew something was definitely up.
"What's happened?" I asked immediately, looking imploringly into his eyes.
He paused a moment, eyes darting slightly.
"What do you mean? Nothing's happened," Neil impassioned.
His tight, animatronic smile confirmed my suspicions.
"Neil, you never smile like that unless something bad has happened... normally something to do with your father. When you really smile your mouth opens wide so all your teeth show and your eyes gleam with true joy, it is the sweetest thing I have ever seen... but- this is not that. It's distant and cold, it's automatic and fake, you can almost hear your teeth screaming from all the pressure they are under from baring them and, while you may be a good actor, you know I will always be able to see right through you."
Neil's whole body tensed as much as his smile.
"Neil, honey, please talk to me," I pleaded.
Neil visibly deflated. He took my hand, kicking the door shut quietly behind him, and led me to my bed where he sat and bowed his head. Before long, a warm splotch of water landed on the entwined hands he had focused his eyes on so intently.
"My father... he's- um," Neil did not want to say it out loud, he knew that would make it somehow more true.
"He's making me drop the annual..." he whimpered in misery, "I was supposed to be assistant editor."
"Oh, Neil," I pulled him into a tight embrace.
He pushed away in an unexpected burst of anger.
"No, stop! I'm fine," he protested, wiping under his eyes in a way that he hoped I would not notice. I did.
"Neil, it is more than fine for you not to be fine with this," I reminded him.
"No, it is not!" He cried, head in his hands in frustration, "No, it is not but it does not matter. I do not care, not about any of it!"
Softly, I reached to grab one of his wrists and pulled it away from his face. Slowly, he met my eye.
"I know that you do and I know that you need to drop it. Just because those two things both exist does not mean you have to like it."
Neil knew there was an abundance of truth in this statement.
He pulled me to his chest before kissing my head and mumbling to me atop it.
"I'm sorry I snapped, you didn't deserve that," I could feel heated wetness upon my head and held him tighter, this only seemed to make the waterworks flow more fluidly.
"Hey, it's okay," the fabric of his shirt muffled my comfort, "I know you didn't mean to."
Neil pulled back again to look deeply into my eyes.
"I'm just so tired of trying so hard and still having him controlling my life just because... just because he can!"
"I know, my love, but I have good news for you," I drew circles on his knuckles with my thumb.
"Yeah?" he smiled a real, albeit small, smile at me this time, lost in my eyes, "Yeah? What's that?"
"You don't have to be that way alone," I could feel the warmth permeating from his cheeks when I kissed the tip of his long, pointed nose.

Hii! Can i request some Dating Headcanons with Neil Perry? Maybe some that reader is latina? If you don’t how to do it, it’s fine! Thank youuu🫶🏼🫶🏼 hope you are having a great day!
dating neil perry
Tumblr media
warnings: none!
note: i didn’t make the reader explicitly latina, purely because as a white person i don’t think i’d be able to capture writing from another race’s pov accurately, and it would feel wrong to impersonate another race like that. i’m sure there are plenty of other latina writers that would love to do your request justice, though! also this is kind of all over the place, i’m sorry 😭
- okay we all know that neil is fairly confident, but when it comes to you??
- he gets so shy
- like. blushing and awkward laughing around you level shy.
- he stays up at night trying to figure out how to ask you out
- the poets have tried multiple times to help him out, but he’s hopeless - which none of them really expected in truth
- they all seem to turn into kids again, physically pushing him towards you whenever they see you, or teasing you just enough so that your interest is piqued, but not enough so that you know that neil has a crush on you
- even mr keating had noticed that neil was distracted, and accurately put it down to teenage romance
- when he finally does ask you out, it’s only because he talked it out so much with charlie
- of course, he’s a gentleman, but he also doesn’t want to make a big deal out of it in case he gets rejected
- so, at a dinner party one evening, he manages to get you alone, and asks if you’d let him take you to a restaurant that weekend
- of course you say yes
- because why wouldn’t you
- since then, going to restaurants has been a bi-weekly thing for the both of you
- despite your best efforts, he ALWAYS pays
- he loves to see you all dressed up
- and the vision of him in a suit isn’t exactly something you complain about either
- after dating for a few weeks, you finally pluck up the courage to attend one of the society’s meetings
- you were nervous at first, worried that you weren’t as well read as the boys were
- neil reassured you that you were definitely intelligent enough to be there - “not that intelligence matters all that much, we’ve got charlie”
- you often write poetry for each other, and you keep all of the ones you’d been given in a drawer in your bedroom
- he has to be a little more discreet, so keeps all of the ones you’d given him in an envelope in his wardrobe
- he reads at least one every night
- todd is beyond tired of hearing about you
- this poor boy had to listen to neil ramble about you for months before he even had the courage to ask you out
- but now that you’re officially dating? neil never shuts up about you
- neil’s love language is quality time, so he’s always trying to find excuses to be with you
- definitely clingy - when one of you has to leave the other, he gets genuinely sad
- even if you’re going to see each other the next day
- also LOVES to see you in his clothes
- especially his jumpers
- he loves how they fit you, and how it’s a subtle signal that you’re his
- he doesn’t get jealous super easily, but he absolutely hates people staring at you
- even if you don’t mind, he’ll always wrap an arm around you or hold your hand to show them that you’re very much not single
- there have been occasions where he’s interrupted conversations being slightly more affectionate than usual - a clear sign that he’s jealous or insecure and will need reassuring later
- which ofc, you’re more than happy to do
- he always makes it look casual tho - he’s never dramatic or passive-aggressive about it
- neil is actually very insecure and needs a lot of reassurance - something that surprised you at first due to his joyful personality
- he’s also an amazing listener
- he’ll always let you vent to him, no matter what it’s about
- he’s sympathetic about everything you tell him, but especially if you don’t get along with your parents
- he knows how badly it can hurt, and he hates that you have to go through that
- on the other hand tho, he never loves you more than when you’re rambling on about something you’re interested in
- he loves how excited you get, how your eyes seem to light up
- even if he has no interest in the topic, he adores listening to you talk about it
- to conclude, neil is the best boyfriend ever and i love him so much xoxoxo

dating neil perry <3 (latine version)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
warning(s): none:)
pair: neil perry x gn!reader
one shot or hc: hc
note: i got the idea from this post, so thank you so much!! im mexican so it might seem like i mention mexican culture more like music and food (its what i know!), but i do try my best to be inclusive since latin america has such rich history. this is me trying to write within the time period of the 50s/60s <3. let me know if you wish a more modern version, enjoy!
Tumblr media
-neil is a love at first sight kind of guy, he literally saw you laughing all giggly and couldn't stop smiling himself
-your friends teased you by singing piel canela by los panchos, "me importas tú, y tú, y tú, y solamente tú~"
-and as you kept laughing, all red, neil finally got the courage from his friends even though his heart was all smushed by your angelic smile
-when he was finally determined to ask you on a date, that man was calm, cool, and collected which made you even more nervous as he approached your friends and you
-he'd give you those puppy dog eyes and you'd immediately melt before a word is even said
-once neil asks you out, it seems a crowd cheers somewhere beyond and neil can only chuckle sheepishly at his friends' reactions
-you guys begin dating and neil finds your culture fascinating! (in a good way lol)
-he'd want to know all the holidays, celebrate with you, to hell with his dad and his rules (he loves you too much <3)
-when he experienced latin music for the first time he would never go back
-he'd buy so many vinyls from different genres and constantly ask you to slow dance in the living room like the love birds you two are
-neil is the type to slowly get into the groove of things to dance cumbia, bachata, salsa
-oh but he will learn and surprise your whole family! it makes you kinda jealous when your primos are there watching him
-but he reminds them of you by giving you a kiss
-you'd hum some songs and be very surprised when he comes along singing the lyrics (maybe not perfect, but it’s so cute)
-it made you realize just how much he is trying to understand you who are, your language, which is so important to you
-you call him 'mi amor' (my love) and he would always ask what that means but you didn't want to say
-it basically means you love him and that was scary
-but imagine him singing cien años by pedro infante? it'd be the first time you'd say 'i love you'
-he alternatively says i love you and te amo because he loves you sooooo! much
-you'd giggle and say "yo tambien te amo, mi amor"
-he would always have cute nicknames like 'my darling' or 'my angel' but then he started using 'cariño'
-only when you two were alone because he was afraid his pronunciation wasn't too well
-you have no idea who he learned it from, but it made you tear up the first time you heard it from him
-his favorite part about being with you is the food, like at one point he'd just be like 'fuck it!' and make tamales with all the women
-his favorite desert is arroz con leche because i said so!
-he can’t handle spicy food, im sorry yall but i have to be accurate, the white genes </3
-curse words/phrases in spanish? he would know them all because your primos would tell him to say [x] and he'd do it without question lmaoo
-obviously you would not stop it because its kinda hilarious, but you would eventually inform him on what the words/phrases mean
-overall he'd get along with your family like they might call him 'guerrito' but he wouldn't mind
-neil would be surprised by the amount of spanish covers from english songs and vice versa, but it really opened his eyes to a new world
-he loves you, your culture, language, food, music, and everything else that comes with it
-sure, sometimes he doesn't understand what you're saying but he makes sure to study real hard and eventually become fluent in spanish
-his favorite part is when you sing to him (or listening to a song), something soft like cielito lindo :( and you watch him fall asleep as you stroke his hair
-neil perry is the best boyfriend fr <3

EVERYONE ADORES YOU (AT LEAST I DO)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: neil perry x shy!reader
word count: 1k
a/n: here it is! i finally got around with finishing it :) anyways NEILNEILENEILENEMWA
masterlist
the piece of paper you erratically scribbled your poem onto crumpled as you clutched it harder in your clasp, your palms sweaty and jittery. no matter how hard you tried convincing yourself that the other students in your class are all mature, sensible, and rational people, it never ceases the perpetual fickle thumps of your heart.
it annoyed you to no end. how easily it was for situations like this to put you in a wave of emotions. you took a deep breath for the upteempth time before standing up on weakened legs. it always annoyed you, how you’re this impossibly nervous to speak in front of a crowd of people. numerous times has people told you to just ‘tough it out’, but it was never that easy.
you slowly walked to the front on shaky legs and a laser focus on the board, trying to ignore the few stares the others had on you. it felt like a million people had their attention on your every single movement, and amongst the handful of observant stares, lies a worried and concerned one. neil knew how shy you were and it takes a bit of coaxing for you to peek out of your shell. he could already tell that you were having a hard time from the moment he saw you clutch your piece of paper.
you were standing close to the board with your back against it, now everyone was surely looking at you. you couldn’t help but tilt your head downwards and you tried muttering a word out, any word at all. but nothing came out.
"ms. (y/l/n)?"
the invisible weight that rested upon your shoulders made its presence known as you heard your name being called, depriving you of the ability to properly function. the air was acting as if it was non-existent and the atmosphere was suffocating. it made you feel trapped, you hated it. it was hard putting this much pressure on yourself, but you didn't know how to avoid it. no matter how many words of encouragement you mumble out of your lips, it all never seemed to help. tears were starting to prick your eyes as you tried rubbing your hand against your clothes to maybe relieve the stress that had you on a chokehold. it came to the point where you couldn’t take it anymore, and made a beeline for the door to exit the room, ignoring their calls and not hearing the footsteps that came after yours.
standing outside the hall was refreshing. it was empty during these times due to class hours and you were so grateful that no one would see you crying because you were so shaken up by merely presenting to an audience. you slid down and crouched against the wall and held your face, your feeble attempts of wiping the tears away proved useless and you rested a hand atop your chest to atleast give you some purchase from your heaved exhaling.
"(y/n)?"
you quickly lifted your head up at the voice above you, shock filling your veins. it was neil. he must've been so worried because of your sudden departure.
"are you okay?" neil asked in a soft tone, his voice waking you up from the daze you didn’t know you were in, you didn’t notice how tight your chest was. you couldn’t fully focus on the words that came out of his lips and you couldn’t fully process what was going on. you looked so small, keeping your knees close to your chest and beads of sweat continued running down your forehead. he knelt down beside you and sat down on the ground, not wanting to intimidate you if he were to stand up and talk down on you. he wanted you to feel comfortable with him no matter the circumstance.
“i’m-i’m sorry..” you hid your hands, no longer being able to hold back the tears that your eyes desperately wanted to release. you know yourself that it’s no good trying to bottle up your feelings, but you weren’t exactly good at doing that and you had a difficult time expressing your thoughts. what an amazing combo bestowed upon you. “i shouldn’t have made a scene.. i was being overly dramatic.”
neil patiently waited for you to pour everything that was flooding your mind out, not wanting you to get overwhelmed by immediately telling you how to handle things. he didn't want you to pushing down and invalidating your feelings. he gently rubbed your back in circles, his warm touch steadying your ragged breathe and pulling you back from the headspace you threw yourself in.
"they're probably laughing at me right now. i'm not going back in there."
he saw your lips quiver at the thought of possibly returning inside and resuming where you left off. you bet the class paused because of your sudden outburst, you felt ashamed. another batch of fresh tears and a soft sob resounded into the quiet hallway. just the mere scene of you being so vulnerable and your cheeks painted with tears shattered neil's heart into a thousand fragments─ it felt like a knife jagged itself into his heart,
"they're not. you don’t have to talk in front of all of them. i could talk to mr. keating, i'll ask if you can just present in private. just you and him. how does that sound?"
your heart squeezed at each syllable that entered your ears. neil knew just what you needed to hear, you don't know what you'd do without him. he saw you give a weak nod and your nose scrunched up while you wept a little bit more.
"you're doing great, (y/n). you can always try again! don't push yourself too much, my love. if they heard the poem you wrote, i know they'll love it as much as i did! i'm proud of you."
now you were full on sobbing. neil pulled you into his arms and stroked the back of your head and tenderly kissing the spot behind your ear. a gesture that you've grown to love everytime he did it─ he always knew what to do.
"we'll go back in whenever you're ready, sweetheart."

you met neil because of steven.
you were sneaking to welton in the night cause you had something that your parents give you for steven.
there's no need to lie, you hated welton with all your heart. the students here have always had to be perfect. that was something you appreciated. yes, you were getting good grades, and that was enough for you to pass the classes.
even you hate the school's system there were one person you always look up to, neil perry. he was your opposite, he was everything you want to be. unlike you he can talk to his parents about his future, but you were just following your parents' dreams.
i guess that was the reason you fell in love with him.
"steven?" you whispered and looked around. where was he?
"steven has to deal with something, with gerard." you heard neil. "i can help if you want."
"well, i just have to give these to steven."
neil smiled at you and walked towards you. you knew there was nothing special going on, you knew he only loved people like him.
you gave him the books and smiled.
"so, how was your school?"
"nothing but classic welton."
"yeah." and that's how the conversation ended. he didn't say anything and the silence began to be uncomfortable. "i have to go, good night then."
"wait, not right now." he grabbed your wrist and walked to his room really fast. you assumed that this was a 'sleep' time control.
he rushed you into his room, almost pushed you.
"y/n, is there a problem?" you heard todd's voice. he was your best friend after steven. "why did you dragged you secret crush in your room?" he said while laughing.
"i didn't."
"thank you todd, you just ruined my love confession."
you looked at them in surprise. "what? can somebody tell me what's going on?"
"well," neil said as he put the books on the table. "i was gonna confess but thanks to your best friend, it ruined."
"you like me?" you still don't understand, or simply you don't want to believe.
"i didn't like you at first, but over time you changed my mind. taking care of you or spending time with you was my favourite thing. i love helping you in trigonometry. "
you smiled. "trigonometry?"
"yeah," he laughed. "don't you like me?"
"i do neil, but i'm just shocked. it was unexpected."
"then, so that you won't be surprised, I'm telling you that I'm going to kiss you." he said while walking towards you.
"hey! i don't want to see my two friends kissing." todd closed his eyes. "please find another room."
"then please turn your behind todd." neil said as he came close to kissing you.
you stopped him by grabbing him by the shoulders. "i wanna kiss you to neil but i don't think it's a right time." you smiled and kissed his cheek. "see you tomorrow then?"
"yeah, see you tomorrow." you left the room smiling.
when you closed the door, you heard neil tell todd that he ruined your first kiss moment. you laughed silently and walked away with a big smile.

Hello !! First I hope you’re doing okay and you’re having a wonderful day ! I wanted know if it’s possible to request a oneshot with Neil Perry ! Like their first big argument and good old angst about him forgetting a date to go hang out with his friends or whatever you want 🤭!! but with happy ending because I love him way too much !! Thank youuu and have a wonderful day again !
Promises [ Neil Perry x fem!Reader ]
You waited, dressed and ready to go. Neil promised, he said he would be there by 9 pm so that you could make it to your reservation. It’s 10:30pm now with no sight of him. You decided to call his number again to see if he would answer.
The person you’re trying to reach isn’t available, to leave a voicemail wait for the beep. Beep…
“Hey Neil, it’s (Y/n) again. Just wondering when you’ll be back? Return my calls when you’re able to…” You whispered the last part before hanging up. You turned your phone off, your heart sinking as tears began to form in your eyes.
Neil wasn’t the type to just forget about you or a date or a commitment just in general. What if he was kidnapped? Mugged? Robbed? Shot? So many thoughts ran through your mind. You began to hyperventilate, you got up and began to pace around your apartments kitchen.
“Please answer,” you mumbled looking at your phone.
12am rolled around and you decided to call again. Maybe he was caught up at work and his boss was being an ass.
“Hello?” Finally, Neil answered.
“Hey, where have you been?” You mumbled. You felt your body relax at the sound of his voice.
“I’m hanging with Charlie. He thought it would be a great idea to come to the bar for a couple of drinks. Why?” He asked. The feeling of worry vanished and was replaced with disappointment and anger.
“Goodnight.” Was all you mustered up. You hung up and walked to your bedroom.
A bar? Drinks? Charlie Dalton? You weren’t mad about the date. It could have always been rescheduled. You weren’t the kind to stop Neil from hanging with his friends. But, to miss all your calls? To ignore you to drink with his friends? All he had to do was call you and ask to change the date! You didn’t care!
You undressed yourself and put on your nightgown. You took your make up off and did your face routine. You did it all with furry. Your heart was racing and your hands were shaking. Tears in your eyes you laid in bed. You checked your phone to see no new messages. You scoffed and fell asleep.
The next morning rolled around as you began to get ready for work. For a brief moment you forgot about it. That’s until you received a phone call from him. You decided to ignore him. You didn’t want to start the day off on the wrong foot. You opened up your door and began walking to work.
The busy streets of Chicago gave you a peaceful vibe. People hated the noise of the city but you loved it. You were from a small town in Virginia and Chicago was such a different vibe from there. You clocked in and turned your phone off. You wanted no distractions, no messages, nothing.
You walked out of work and to your apartment. Walking from the elevator you saw Neil Perry holding a bouquet of roses. You scoffed and walked towards him.
“You weren’t picking up my calls so I decided to see you…” He said but you ignored him. You unlocked the door and slammed it in his face. He knocked on your door but you ignored it.
“Is everything okay?!” He shouted knocking on the door. You grumpily walked to the door and opened it. “I’m going to take that as a no…”
“Yeah Neil, I’m not very happy with you right now,” you scoffed not allowing him inside the apartment.
“What did I do?” He asked and you rolled your eyes.
“Not only did you have me worried but you also ditched me to hang out with your friends,” you explained and the realization dawned on him.
“I thought I was missing something, I swear I’ll make it up to you,” he begged but you shook your head.
“It wasn’t about the date Neil, I don’t care about it. I care that I was here, crying and worried! I thought you were injured, I thought someone had mugged you and left you to die! Do you ever understand how scared I was? I left you hundreds of messages! A ‘I’m fine’ or a ‘I’m out with my friends’ would have been great! But no you decided to not answer me!” You shouted with tears in your eyes. Your voice was shaky, “I wouldn’t have forgiven myself if you had died Neil, but you didn’t have a care in the world!”
He stood there, his heart aching.
“I didn’t know… Charlie took my phone and I was out with my friends. You know I haven’t seen them in years.” He said attempting to defend himself.
“This is pointless Neil. I just, I just don’t want to see you right now. I’m angry and disappointed. Your lack of empathy is sickening right now. I want to be alone,” you said slamming the door in his face. You leaned on your door and began to sob. The feelings coming all at once like a wrecking ball. It was like he didn’t understand how it felt to be up all night waiting for someone to answer you.
You woke up the next morning. Luckily for you it was your day off. You laid in bed with your favorite candy and confort show on. Your phone was on your nightstand charging. You sobbed every few seconds. You hated arguing with Neil, growing up your parents were verbally abusive towards each other. Arguing and yelling was the thing you always tried to not do.
You heard a knock on the door. Maybe you could pretend not to be home.
“I know your home,” you heard from the other side. Neil. You sighed and got up. You walked to the door and opened it.
“Before you start talking hear me out, please.” He said and you sighed. “I realize how big of an asshole move that was. I didn’t want to worry you or ditch you or cause you any harm. I had a rough day at work and well I need to blow out some steam and Charlie offered to take me to a bar and grab some drinks while the guys were in town. I forgot about our plans and while I was going to check my phone Charlie took it out of my hands. I didn’t purposely ignore you and the second I got it back I answered you. It wasn’t my intention to ignore you and I will be having a chat with Charlie about not taking my phone. Please forgive me…” He stopped and looked at you. Tears were falling from your eyes as you brought him in for a hug.
“I don’t like arguing with you Neil. I was just so worried yesterday. My mind doesn’t work like everyone else’s. My mind doesn’t go to ‘he is probably still at work’ I instantly think you’re being murdered or something…” You cried, your face nuzzled on his neck as he hugged you tightly.
“I promise it will never ever happen again, I swear it.” He whispered not daring to let you go.

There were a lot of things you loved about Neil Perry. The way he smiled, how generous he was, when he scribbled little notes on your hands when you were working. And mostly, how brave he was. He was the most courageous person you ever knew. And the craziest thing was he didn’t even realise.
But he was also scared. Scared he was going to great the same pattern as his father, that he was going to fail as a dad. He grew up not knowing what showing love was, so how could he possibly be a loving father? That seems impossible.
So when you expressed your wish to have kids with him, you didn’t expect it to start an argument. He told you he could never be enough and he would never want to have children because of what he went through. And you were hurt, you knew that wasn’t his intention but there was a little part of you that felt like he didn’t want kids with you.
Frustrated and not understanding each other, you went to bed, your back facing his. But as the hours passed, your mood cooled down and guilt started to eat you. Neil was finally opening up about the repercussions of his childhood and all you found to do is taking it personally.
You turned around, biting your lips, not wanting to disturb him but the urge to apologize was stronger. He was tensed, and it was all your fault. “Neil?” you whispered, hoping he was open to communication.
After a minute of silence that felt like an hour, he moved and faced you. You could tell he was hurt, and it seemed like he cried. He didn’t speak a word, and slowly, you drew your hand to his face, letting him time to let you know if he didn’t want physical touch.
“I’m sorry,” you said quietly, letting your forehead fall against him “I didn’t try to understand you. I was selfish.”
That was all it take for him to let go of the tears he was holding “I’m not mad at you,” it surprised you, he had all the reasons to be “I’m mad at him.”
It was crazy how the man that was supposed to have Neil as the first person in his heart still had an impact on his son years after moving out of the childhood household. Neil actually was even in denial of the treatment he received until you made him understand, you didn’t want to accuse anyone, but the way his smile would always fade after talking to his family just stayed in your mind. But he always told you his problems weren’t so important as if he refused to be in pain in front of anyone.
As his lover, you made sure he understood what was happening to him, that he could let it go, he could stop talking to them, it wasn’t his fault.
“Why couldn’t you be a good father? You’re the kindest person I ever met. Your past does not define you. You can start a family who will always show you love.”
Neil hoped you knew how much he needed to hear this. But something was still wrong, his mother truly loved him and he knew it, she just wasn’t brave enough to stand up for him. And he felt a little guilty “Mom always told me the best gift I could give her was a child. But I don’t talk to her anymore, she won’t be there to see the little baby me.” He knew he cared more than he should, but he couldn’t help it.
“Neil,” you chose your words carefully “you don’t have to be sorry for doing it on your own.”
All of a sudden he broke into tears. Years of suffering he could finally externalize. He got closer to you, curling into your chest, like a child. You wrapped your arms around him, whispering sweet nothings in his ear, trying to calm him down as much as you could. “You can let it go”

“𝑺𝒉𝒆” — [𝑵𝒆𝒊𝒍 𝑷𝒆𝒓𝒓𝒚]
Summary: In which Mr. Keating's class must recreate a poem and the only young girl is so nervous that she doesn't notice the intense gaze of one of her classmates, Neil Perry.
Word Count: 1491
Warnings: none
Pairings: neil perry x female!reader
A/N: Sorry if there is more than one mistake, english is not my first language and I am still learning it. However, I hope you enjoy it and have a good time, thanks for reading! (:
Tumblr media
One by one, the students of the class passed to the front of the room with their papers in hand, some kept the piece of paper hidden under their sweaty hands, others implored in whispers not to be called upon and a few simply didn't care and gave each other amused looks. Mr. Keating, the English teacher, had assigned the task of writing a poem and performing it in front of the entire class, with the sole intention that the desperate poet inside those young bodies would come out shouting his loud and barbaric "YAAAAP!" in triumph. A faithful follower of Uncle Whitman.
"Y/N! It's your turn!"
The young woman was perplexed and motionless in her seat as she was still engrossed in her brain trying with all her might, to give her own meaning to the earlier poem she had listened to so intently. So, when she heard her name, her creative bubble burst in the blink of an eye and she was forced back to reality. Her hands were just another pair of those that began to sweat as she tried, unsuccessfully, to dodge the gaze of her beloved professor. She was convinced that her name would be one of the last ones on the list, but it seemed that Mr. Keating's plans were very different from hers.
"Come on, come on, show these barbarians how it's done!"
Some of those present burst into loud laughter as Mr. Keating went in search of his only student and encouraged her to get up with a gentle pat on the back.
"If I were you I would not laugh so openly, Mr. Hopkins. Women are fundamental to this world and I can tell you, with all due respect, far more elemental than a lot of the men I have known and will know in my life." as he uttered those words, the English professor spoke with a raised finger and a warm smile, which caused his one female student to blush. She didn't know whether to thank him or hide in the woods.
"Amen!" admitted with a loud tapping against his desk the Dalton boy, he had a rebellious glare in his dark orbs and a sneaky smile in their direction. That act didn't take long to provoke new giggles, this time, in support of professor Keating's wise words.
The professor gave Y/N a gesture with his arm and invited her to take her place at the front of the class, where she remembered why she hated oral exams and expositions so much: a hundred eyes were watching her, silently, expectantly. The girl took a deep breath and hidden her face behind the thin sheet of paper to avoid the stares of others, especially one in particular. She closed her eyes still with the leaf covering her reddish cheeks and felt how her teacher crouched in the middle of the row of tables to listen delightedly to her poem, "when you are ready" was the last thing she heard from him. She gave a long sigh and then, magic made her soul dance:
She can't write these words and show them, the time it took her to put the tip of the pen to the page was too long. She thinks it's not worth it; that her words are ordinary and slow because they don't come out the right way, she thinks it's impossible that a living person would be interested in them.
She adores art in each of its disparate forms; writing, theater, music, she longs for the time she spends with them. Her face transforms and grows somber when she wonders why such a deed is popularly ignored, what does it take for much of the human race to stop being silenced? what does it take for beauty to have a new reconquest? For people to seek new lands and fall prey to the feeling of agony, of madness, of new inner adventures deep in the caves!
She weeps when she sees an instrument covered in dust, when she enters empty museums and the faces in oil paints look at her with sorrow and are grateful that even oblivion has not fallen upon them; her breath is shortened when she enters a theater and her gaze is lost with innocence on the stage, on the enigmatic sky. So much history, so many eyes and beating hearts that have passed through the same place with a story to hear and a confession to leave behind enclosed in that sky, embedded in the walls, witness on a stage full of sins.
Her sight blurs as she sees hundreds of books piled on the road in the rain, hundreds of tales and stories placed in garbage bags; her heart stops and her soul recites, prays and screams on the sidelines of the artists the world has taken from us, of minds that are nothing more than worm food. A world wary and controlled by a pain that it has created.
She cries out in memory of all who have visited hell and found solace in this, the art that is pure and sinister. She cries for all the stories and words that are being erased by that same rain that, as she looks, she feels guilt for considering beautiful; her tears are grateful for the gray clouds at the thought that there are still people who wander lost, those with the soul of an artist, called misunderstood. A strength that goes far beyond what demons and voices are capable of tolerating, a legacy that not even her own insecurities can leave behind, because it is the only thing she can do for humanity, the only thing that can save it.
She laments everyone who locks away the desperate desires of a hungry heart, hungry for more than the crumbs of silence and fear. She penetrates the dreams of others and rejoices those who sharpen their ears, stretch their arms towards those forbidden drawers and open them, even with their eyes tightly closed. She whispers: "don’t be afraid and see what you have made with your own hands, it is your legacy: the way in which you can be heard even when the years go by. Look at it, hold it between your fingers, it may be heavy or light, but it is your manuscript. The words you have never said, the verses you have never read, the fears you have never overcome, the ghosts you keep stumbling over, the urge to vomit when you are a second away from discovering the truth, your mother's smile, the scent of trees, of freshly cut grass, of old books… they are there. Everything is engraved there, written in scribbles you won't be able to understand, in letters that matured over the years, that's where all this I've recited comes from: a memory of what is new and what is old."
And in spite of everything, she keeps wondering if this leaf, the greatest oath of her life so far will be reduced to ashes and if its words will become yellowed pages. She keeps questioning herself, with tears and a bitter voice: what will last until the end?
Her heart was beating so fast and her breathing was ragged, she couldn't believe what she had just done. Her mind was in complete chaos… she had read one of her writings to an entire class, full of boys! She could feel her face and body burning with pure adrenaline, it was done. Dammit.
"God bless the women" Charlie Dalton's voice broke the ice, in a whisper.
"Fuck, Y/N" Knox hurried to say, completely beside himself. Shocked.
The entire class was staring at her, gawking and some with faces full of admiration, highest respect. None of them thought that the only young lady in the class was an intoxicated soul of art, letters, literature. Soon the applause and cheers quickly replaced the sepulchral silence, accompanied by several insults from their classmates who were still in complete awe; Charlie, Knox and Pitts were some of them, clapping and whistling with pure pride.
"Never forget this, Y/N. Never" spoke the Captain, gently grasping the back of his pupil's neck and pressing her temples together in triumph, a sign that she would take with her a powerful lesson: she would see to it that her voice would be heard in every corner and that she would never, ever be silent again.
Before she returned to her seat, however, her cheeks flared furtively again, and this time not because of the shouts or cheers that still did not want to leave the mouths of the Dead Poets, but because of the perplexed look that the young man with who she had always been in love was giving her. The verses had penetrated deep into the soul of Neil Perry, inexplicable sensations, all his feelings were alive, at the surface of his skin.
She…
Wow, he had no words. She was amazing.

Hey everyone! So I finally wrote a thing!! I’m pretty sure is absolute garbage but 🥰 I’m here! Attempting to replenish the lack of DPS fan fiction!! So here it is (also I forgot how to add a Keep Reading bar on mobile help)
Tumblr media
Summary: you’re new at Welton and your cousin Charlie’s friends take you in! Neil Perry x female reader x Platonic! Charlie Dalton
“She’s off limits, thanks.” A blunt voice sounds from behind me. It’s my cousin Charlie only naturally. I’ve just transferred to Welton Academy, now that they’ve begun accepting girls. The only downside of this is that my over protective older cousin Charlie won’t give it a rest. Of course there were ups and downs to the whole thing. Charlie had introduced me to his friends initially so I knew someone in most classes, but they were mostly boys, who flirt a lot, or act like they’ve never seen a woman before.
“I’ll decide if I’m limited!” I angrily turned to whisper yell at him, after giving a polite smile to Pitts who I was just speaking to. This obscure comment makes Charlie roll his eyes.
“Are you coming to the meeting tonight?” He asks casually as we all stand on the campus outside.
“Uh yeah If I still can.” I respond hoping the so-called “Dead Poets Society” meeting was still open to me. “Yeah you can!” Neil cuts in from looking at his book. He stands up from the brick wall he was leaning on.
For some reason this assurance makes me grin. I suppose if Neil says I can… I then turn back to Charlie. “I’ll come get you at.. let’s say 9?” He says in a hushed tone and walks away pointing to his watch.
I will admit. I’m appreciative to have a somewhat big brother on campus. Charlie and I spent most of our childhood when he wasn’t here, together anyway, so we really are family, cousins, and friends.
At 9 I’m waiting in my dorm. I’m in some comfortable slacks and a large coat when I hear a tap on my window. I open it expecting the boyish grin from my cousins. I open the drapes revealing a Neil Perry. I open the window curiously. “Hey- it’s you?” I ask. “Yeah! Charlie’s down there but Cameron forgot something so they went back they’ll meet us- hi..” he says with his typical smile and laid back demeanor whining with excitement. His brown hair is a mess from the hostile weather outside.
Later I sit in the cave. A mere observer for now since I wouldn’t have anything to share my first time here. I smile and shake my head as Charlie continues this Nawanda act. Neil who stands in the middle of us all looks toward me with a smile “I forgot to ask- Y/N would you like to share anything?” He asks with a warm inviting expression. Like he truly would love for me to get up there. I smile appreciatively and shake my head. “Not this time Neil thank you..!”
After the meeting we sneak back. To ensure I got back safely Charlie offers to be the one to sneak to the girls dorms with me.
“I’ll come too..?” Neil suggests softly. Charlie nods and quietly ushers us in.
“Goodnight guys!” I wave a bit as I quietly try to enter into my dorm which is extremely difficult with decades old door hinges.
As Charlie and Neil walk back, they enter a quiet hallway where Charlie mumbles grinning to Neil. “So you like her..?”
“What?” Neil asks with fake confusion. He figured he could pull it off because he’s never been much of a lady chaser.
“What?” Charlie mocks. “You like her! Y/N!”
Neil blushes knowing only Charlie knows him like that. They stop in the hallway by their dorm rooms.
“She’s a very lovely girl-“ Neil starts, attempting to be indirect. Charlie just chuckles and says. “Alright I know… it’s fine” he waves off “although…you should ask her about theater or whatever.. she’s into that..” Charlie says playfully but also with thought. It’s a bit funny Neil is the only person Charlie would even consider trusting in such a situation. They both say good nights and enter their dorms on opposite sides.

Tumblr media
"Who's that girl Dalton has been sneaking out with recently?" Richard asked, looking out of the window.
The boys were gathered in his and Charlie's room, doing homework. Well, they were supposed to be doing homework, but the books were abandoned after a few minutes when the boys started discussing the topic of Charlie Dalton. For the past few days he was seen walking away into the forest with a mysterious girl.
Charlie was just coming back from wherever he went with Y/n. Through the window, his friends could see him getting a quick peck on the cheek from Y/n, then the girl walked in the direction she came from and Charlie walked into the school's building.
What the boys couldn't see was Charlie stopping at the doors and turning around to catch a glimpse of Y/n walking away. The girl turned around as well and sent Charlie a smile. He weaved at her, but the girl didn't weave back, not wanting to catch unnecessary attention.
They weren't that noticable, actually they were pretty sneaky, but because of Richard's nosy personality, the little group of aspiring dead poets knew about them. Most of them would always say "don't act like it wasn't expected" or "it's not our business anyway" everytime Richard repeats the question, but eventually Neil spoke up about it.
"It's Y/n, she goes to Henley Hall," he sighed.
Neil wasn't very pleased about Charlie having interest in Y/n. Before Charlie met the girl, Neil thought of asking her out himself. The boys have been friends since childhood, which meant they were like brothers and as 'brothers' they had similar taste in women.
"Henley Hall?" A loud scoff escaped Cameron's mouth. "How did Dalton meet a girl from Henley Hall?"
"She plays Helena in Midsummer Night's Dream. Once Charlie came to watch our rehearsal and afterwards he introduced himself to her." Neil explained, not mentioning the fact that Charlie interrupted Neil's attempt to ask Y/n on a date.
"And now she willingly hangs out with him? How does Henley Hall allow that?"
"Henley Hall doesn't know about it," Charlie explained as he walked inside the room, "it's not their business anyway."
He walked into the room suddenly, in a quick pace. It was really fortunate that nobody stood by the door, because it would really hurt to get accidentally hit with it. Todd looked the most surprised and quite nervous, almost guilty for being there, although he didn't even care about Charlie's affair. He genuinely just came there to do homework and hoped that now that Charlie's back, everyone will get back to homework.
"Is she your girlfriend yet?" Knox asked, chuckling. The other boys' laughter sounded through the room like an echo.
Neil laughed along, pretending to not be bothered by Charlie liking the girl he liked as well. He told himself to pretend, as if it was just another role. Neil was a natural actor, so he could act the role of a guy who totally doesn't like the girl his best friend likes.
Charlie sat down on his bed and with a playful smile answered the question, "it's not that serious."
"What do you mean?" Neil's voice sounded almost offended. "What don't you like about Y/n?"
"It's just...we don't get to talk to many girls, do we? I mean, I wanna see different options, you know?"
Meeks, who was sitting next to Charlie, decided to chime in. "Well, dating doesn't necessarily mean you'll have to marry her."
"She's a girl, you know how girls are. Or maybe rather you don't, but I know that they take relationships very seriously."
"And what's wrong with that?"
"As I've just said, I wanna try out different options," with laughter, Charlie lightly nudged Meeks' side.
It felt ticklish, so Meeks tried to nudge Charlie away, which quickly turned into a bit of pushing and shoving each other. Others began to laugh, nobody seemed to care about homework anymore, not even Todd.
Besides one person.
"Let me remind you, we gathered here to do homework." Cameron reminded everyone.
"Let me remind you," Pitts mimicked him, "it was you who got invested in Charlie's love life."
«────── « ⋅ʚ♡ɞ⋅ » ──────»
Even though Charlie kept insisting that whatever was between him and Y/n wasn't serious, the rest of dead poets wanted to meet her. And besides being his love interest, she also was Neil's friend, wasn't she?
So on the next day Pitts and Meeks convinced Charlie to tell Y/n about the Society. He phoned her, she seemed to be interested in becoming a part of it. On the next meeting the Dead Poets Society welcomed a new member - Y/n Y/l/n.
The girl enjoyed her first meeting, she loved the atmosphere of the cave, she loved the feeling growing inside of her when she listened to other members reading poetry. It felt so amazing, even magical.
Y/n felt as if she knew the boys for her whole life, she belonged among them and vice versa. The boys took a liking to Y/n quickly, she was like a missing puzzle in the Society.
"You're like an honorary member of the Dead Poets Society," Neil initiated a conversation with Y/n when the poets were exiting the cave, "the first girl in the Society's history. And you're not even a Welton student."
If it wasn't so dark, Neil would see a warm smile that formed on Y/n's face.
"I will want to attend the next meetings in the future. It's amazing that there are people who care about poetry and art. That moist cave really feels like home."
Both Y/n and Neil chuckled quietly. It was late autumn, but neither of them felt cold. Besides their jackets keeping them warm, there was a warm feeling the both of them felt coming from the inside.
"Whose idea was it?" Y/n continued. "You do seem like a person who could come up with it."
"Actually, the Dead Poets Society was founded by our current English teacher, back when he was a Welton student himself. But it was my idea to renew the Society."
Suddently Y/n flinched, scared by Charlie's arm unexpectedly appearing around her shoulders.
Luckily thanks to the darkness, nobody could see how quick the smile vanished from Neil's face.
"How did you like it?" The boy asked. "What did you think of my poem? I wrote it just for you."
"I figured, it was lovely. I'll bring my own piece for the next meeting too. I'm so glad you told me about the Society!"
"Do you need help with sneaking back into Henley Hall?"
"No, actually I bribed the security. There will be no problem."
"Aren't you scared? It's dark and you've got a long way to go. Maybe I could walk you back?"
"Thank you, Charlie, but I'll be okay, I have a bike. Left it just by the entrance to the forest, in some bushes."
Y/n was really pleased with the first Dead Poets Society meeting she attended. She wrote lots of poems for the next meetings, but also enjoyed reading out loud her favorite poems by famous writers.
Being the only girl in the Society wasn't a problem to Y/n and the boys weren't bothered by it either. They were actually happy about that and always made sure Y/n doesn't feel unwanted or misfitted.
«────── « ⋅ʚ♡ɞ⋅ » ──────»
Everything was going well, only one day a problem occurred. The meeting of the Society had to start earlier than usually, because later on Y/n and Neil had a rehearsal.
It wasn't even dark outside yet. The sky way grey, but the sky wasn't even visible from inside the cave. The cave needed a fire, because there was no way for light to get inside, not even through the hole people went in.
"Ugh, I wish the fire was bigger," Y/n complained, rubbing her hands above the flame. It was a cold day.
"There wasn't anymore wood." Pitts explained. He moved some branches around, hoping for the fire to grow.
"What do you mean? We're in a forest. We're surrounded by wood."
"It rained yesterday, there was barely any dry wood."
"Can we start already?" Cameron was the next person to complain. "It's really cold here."
"We can't," Neil said, "we're waiting for Charlie."
If Charlie was there, he would have told Richard that no one asked him to come. But where was Charlie? Nobody knew.
"As we're waiting, I'll go and try to find some dry wood," Y/n stood up and walked out of the cave.
Everything on the ground seemed to be soaked by the recent rain. Y/n decided to steal a few branches from the trees, because they seemed to be a bit dried off.
Just as Y/n was about to go back to the cave, she noticed Charlie. To her surprise, he wasn't alone. It wasn't a good kind of surprise. He walked with two girls at his sides, having his arms around their shoulders.
"Hey, Y/n!" Charlie exclaimed. "Girls, this is Y/n, she was the first girl in our Society."
"Hi." Y/n murmured. She was certainly not happy with Charlie bringing here two other girls.
They didn't answer, they didn't even say anything. Each one of them eyed Y/n, which didn't feel nice. It made Y/n feel uncomfortable. She knew it's not gonna be a nice spent time.
The three girls and Charlie entered the cave. The new girls sat next to him, each one at his each side. Y/n frowned. She used to sit next to Charlie ever since she joined the Society.
Y/n didn't want to let others know she's upset, even if the boys seemed equally surprised. She tried to keep her voice as steady as possible and as harmonic as usual.
"I got some branches, should make the fire a bit bigger," she announced, throwing the branches into the flame.
Y/n gave a look to Neil, sitting next to him. He understood her without words, he wasn't happy with Charlie bringing two more girls as well. And he decided to speak up about it.
"Who's that?"
"That's Gloria," Charlie gestured to the blonde girl, "and that's..." he gestured to the brunette, but struggled to remember her name.
"Tina." The girl introduced herself.
"Yes, that's Tina."
There was some small conversation between the poets and the new girls, but Y/n didn't even pay attention to the words. She kept eyeing them and Charlie, not understanding what happened. Charlie was acting as if Y/n done something to him, as if he lost interest in her.
During the whole meeting Y/n wasn't herself and all the boys besides Charlie seemed to notice that. She felt like crying when he read a romantic poem and said he wrote it for Gloria. Then Charlie read another poem, not as romantic, but clearly targeted at a girl, and announced it was for Tina.
What hurt Y/n the most was the fact that she really thought things between her and Charlie are fine. She didn't love him, of course, but she felt attached, she liked him romantically and thought he feels the same about her. Why did he suddenly start ditching her? What did these girls have that Y/n didn't? What was wrong with her?
Y/n had enough, she couldn't stand another minute in that cave with these girls. She looked at her watch and pretended to be surprised at how fast the time had gone, although this meeting felt like an eternity.
"It's so late!" She exclaimed theatrically. "I don't wanna be late to the rehearsal, I'd better go."
The boys' eyes followed Y/n as she almost ran out of the cave. Nobody even managed to say anything.
Neil decided to follow Y/n. Before walking outside, he told others he's also going to the rehearsal, which wasn't really a lie as everyone knew. It was all just awkward.
"Y/n, wait! Wait for me, I wanna talk!" Neil called out.
Y/n was running, Neil's voice made her stop in her tracks. She didn't turn around, but the boy knew she was crying, because he noticed the unusual way her shoulders were quickly raising up and coming down.
Neil jogged up to Y/n and stood next to her. He could see the side of her face as she was looking forward. The girl definitely was crying.
Suddenly, Y/n turned her head to the side in the order to look at Neil. Tears were slowly rolling down her cheeks, the whites in her eyes now had a pink shade.
"Why did he do that?" A question left her mouth, her mouth that were a bit wet from those tears that instead of falling on the ground, found a way into the girl's mouth. "Am I not enough?"
She felt truly bad about herself. She was afraid those girls might be more interesting, prettier, funnier, just better than her. There must have been a factor that made Charlie choose them over her. It hurt so much to be just an option.
"You're more than enough, Y/n." Neil assured. "You're the sweetest girl I've ever met and if I were Charlie-"
He didn't manage to finish the sentence, when Y/n snapped at him aggressively.
"But you're not Charlie." Y/n paused. When she noticed how aggressively she's talking to Neil without a reason, she changed the tone of her voice. "You're Neil, you're kind and charming and you care about everyone and you're not as reckless as Charlie."
"See, I think you answered your own question right here. Why did he do that? Simply because he's reckless. That's Charlie."
"So there's nothing wrong with me?"
When Y/n looked Neil deeply in his eyes, she wasn't crying anymore. There were still signs of crying, but the tears had dried, the girl was calm.
"Nothing at all," Neil smiled lightly at her, "you're perfect the way you are."
That comment made Y/n blush and as a way of trying to hide it, the girl looked down at her shoes. Neil chuckled at that action and put his hand lightly on Y/n's jawline to make her look back at him.
"I've liked you ever since I met you," he confessed, "I was planning on asking you out before Charlie interrupted us, the day you met him."
Y/n was speechless because of Neil's confession. He was standing really close, there was barely any space between them. Instead of talking, Y/n let Neil kiss her. Y/n's lips tasted a bit salty from the dried tears, but it didn't bother Neil.
It was neither a long nor short kiss, it was just perfectly timed. A calm, not hungry kiss, so different from kisses Y/n received from Charlie. Charlie always kissed as if the world was going to end, he did it rapidly and often rough, it felt as if he was in a rush. Neil on the other hand kissed as if he knew the world was ending, but he didn't care about it. The world could be ending, but he was calm, because he was with the person he adored. He was dominating, his lips were telling Y/n's lips what to do, but not in a rough way.
"What will Charlie say when he finds out?" Y/n asked when she and Neil parted from each other.
"Love, I think he'll be alright," Neil chuckled, "he's Charlie, he's always alright."
Not waiting for Y/n to say anything more, Neil pecked the girl's lips once again, but this time it was quick.
"Come on, let's go now," he grabbed her hand, "don't wanna be late to the rehearsal, do we?"

Our first kiss-Neil Perry
Tumblr media
Pairing- Neil Perry x reader
Warning: kissing, fluff,
His daily quote to me
‘You are the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen’
He says it so passionately, I usually rub it of or laugh, over the summer half term, I practically lived at Neil’s the whole term, we were watching ‘he sound of the wind’, Neil wanted me to watch it because he fell in love and I just ‘had’ to watch it!! Or he might die!!! He slowly puts his arm around me which makes my cheeks warm burn red!! I look at him and our noses are touching, he obviously moved closer when I wasn’t noticing, sly boy!
he slowly reaches his other hand to my waist, the other still over my shoulder, in this motion he starts to lean down and we slowly lie down onto the sofa, he now has both his hands on my waist, making me wine a little, he leans down and kisses me! HE KISSED ME!! NEIL PERRY JUST KISSED ME!! his lips were softer then I thought they where going to be?? They were so so soft I was losing focus, until he said my name ‘y/n?’ He chuckled slighted, which made me blush. He starts to lean down again, slowly, teasing , I grab the back of his head and smash his lips into mine, I can’t wait any longer. He slightly moans into my mouth which sends me over the edge, his hands can’t seem to stay still, I’m not complaining? It sent me crazy! My fingers are getting tangled in the back of his head, which he seems to be enjoying. The kiss starts to deepen, his tongue licks the top on my lip, allowing my mouth to open, his tongue slips inside my mouth and I slowly moan at the feeling. I can’t get over the fact Neil Perry’s tongue is in my mouth!!! His knee slowly goes between my legs to support me, this action surprises me slightly and I pull away, ‘is everything okay’ he asks with sincere eyes, I slowly drag my hand down his chest and too his pants, I cup his trousers and his hot breath brushes my mouth as me moans!
He starts to lean down again when Charlie dalton comes flying through the door and we both sit back up onto the sofa, Neil gives me a wink before Charlie throws himself on the two of us…

TWO OF US
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: neil perry x f!reader
summary: it's both your first time baking cupcakes, how hard could it be?
word count: 1.7k
a/n: i had fun with this one ehrhhr I JUST LOVR NEILD SO MUCHWRHRHRHDH
masterlist
the sounds of pages flipping in the room could be heard. you were lazily draped on top of neil, your stomach resting on his legs as you laid down horizontally and he was sat up right vertically. putting you two in a cross-like position. it was a rather boring day, the only thing keeping you occupied was your latest issue of 'little archie' while neil was busying himself with a book he took from your shelf.
you placed your comic book down to your right as rested your cheek on the bed, taking a good look at neil. he could sense your eyes on him while he was reading so he took his attention off the book to check if you indeed were staring at him. neil smiled as you made eye contact.
"is there something on your mind?" he probed, reaching over to you on poke your side. effectively making you shriek and flinch away.
you whined at him and rolled over, now facing the ceiling. "neil, i'm bored." you complained as you racked your brain for things to do with your boyfriend. you already went to the park, the library, the beach, his dorm, the children's playground, the theatres, the record shop, restaurants, everywhere. you two have already gone to every place under the sun for a date.
"what do you want to do?" he asked, gently placing his hand on your stomach to draw light circles on it.
you turned your head to the left to stare at your bookcase this time, inspecting the titles of each book that was on display. as you were about to reach the last bottom shelf, you noticed a title that caught your eye. 'baking for beginners', it was the cookbook that your mom gave you a few years ago. she was trying to get you into baking but you refused─ saying that it was boring and you were pretty sure you'd just burn anything you put into the oven. but now that you're with neil, maybe things would be different.
you lifted yourself up onto the bed and focused your attention on him once more, who was staring at you the whole time with a grin on his face and watched you do your thing as you went deep into thought.
"what's on your mind, sweetheart?"
"let's bake cupcakes." you stated with a bounce in your tone and a smile on your face. "some sweet delicious, scrumptious, tasty vanilla cupcakes!"
neil raised his eyebrows as he looked at you with a questioning expression, "you know how to bake?"
"no… but i do have a cook book right here! it can't be that hard to follow instructions." you confidently exclaimed as you got out of bed to grab the cook book.
neil scooted onto the foot of the bed to get closer to you as he watched you kneel down to grab the book, he propped his chin on his hand that was being supported by his knee. "that sounds pretty similar to what you said when we went hiking."
"yeah, and we turned out fine!"
"we got lost." he smirked and crossed his arms. "it took us two hours to get through the forrest." in your defense, the map looked the same even when you turned it upside down and you couldn't tell the difference. it wasn't until neil noticed that the compass which was written on the corner of the map didn't look right, and only then were you two able to find the right path.
"that's not important! we do not speak of such irrelevant matters!besides, we got to the end of the trail at the end of the day!" you tutted and reasoned, ignoring the fact that you two could've gone lost forever. at least you had each other though.
he laughed heartily and set the book he had in his hands onto your bedside table to stand up from your bed, "alright, let's bake some cupcakes."
on your way to the kitchen, you passed the living room where your dad was watching television while your mom ironed his work clothes for the next day, eyeing the two of you.
"mr. and mrs. (y/l/n)." neil politely greeted as he tried bowing while you were hurriedly pulling on his arm.
"where are you two off to?" your father asked sternly, but still had a loving tone to his voice. you were used to his way of talking to you. he might sound harsh, but he really just deeply cares for you.
"we're going to bake cupcakes!" you shouted back, quickly disappearing into their line of sight. you heard your mom chuckle and respond, "please take care of her, neil!" which you rolled your eyes to.
after you both entered the kitchen, you pulled out two aprons from the cabinets and handed one to neil. while helping you put yours on, you were looking at the ingredients needed for the cupcakes. you had all of them, of course. since your mother was big on cooking and cutlery.
"so it says here to.. preheat the oven to 375°f. how do you heat up an oven?" you diverted your attention from your cook book to stare at your boyfriend with a sheepish look. maybe this wasn't easy as you thought.
he chuckled at your question, walking to where the oven was and maneuvered the knob that was on the control panel. "you turn it on like this to heat it up." he demonstrated.
"i knew that."
"of course. just wanted to make sure that you still do." he gently smiled, giving into your delusions. you snickered and you both got to work with him greasing the muffin cups and you sifting the cake flour and baking powder together. when he finished greasing, he went to your side to help you out.
neil started cracking the eggs into the bowl so he could add the butter, milk, and vanilla together as instructed in the recipe but not without telling a horrendous egg pun when he tilted his head to where you stood. you had a focused expression on your face which he thought was cute, but, he noticed that it also had an excessive amount of cake flour. he furrowed his eyebrows in confusion─ how could you sift flour that messily? he watched as you roughly shook the sifter side to side, resulting in the cake flour going almost everywhere.
you raised your head as you heard neil's laughing, who was standing next to you.
"what's wrong?" you paused, setting down the sifter.
your boyfriend continued laughing, the air continued to be filled by intimacy and amour. "there's a bit of something on you." he exclaimed as he reached over to wipe it off, "the flour is supposed to go into the bowl, love."
while neil was dusting your cheeks though, you felt a slimy texture spread across your jaw.
"is your hand wet?" you quipped, moving your face away to gently grab his wrist. it had traces of egg white on it, and most of it was on you.
you hurriedly grabbed a paper towel to remove the egg whites with a laugh, "EW EW EW!" you shoutted, trying to get the substance off of your cheeks. and instead of helping you, he laughed even louder.
"are you trying to make cake on my face instead?!"
"i didn't know i had eggs on my hands!"
"you did that on purpose! under the guise that you were doing something sweet for me... i trusted you, the love of my life..." you over dramatically exclaimed and turned your head to the side, putting on the facade that you were hurt.
he waved his hands defensively, desperately trying to clear his name and that he truly only wanted to clean your face up. maybe. "no! i would never do something as vile and cruel as smearing egg whites onto your beautiful face! believe me, my fair one!" he said while suppressing down the smile that was so close to getting out, trying to maintin his serious act while raising his still-egg-white tainted hand in the air.
you two shared a laugh, neil quickly washing his hands to help you clean your face since you were still trying to wipe away the gooey substance. and to your surprise while he was washing you up, he put your face into his hands and cupped each of your cheeks, giving them a gentle squeeze. before you could ask him what he was doing, he leaned in to kiss you. in return, when he pulled away, you took a hold of his face as well. with your hands still dusted of cake flour and kissed him again, you had a cheeky look on your face after what you accomplished.
“now you’re messy as well.”
"that's alright, i could be messy for an entire decade and i wouldn't mind. as long as i get to be messy with you."
you lightly shoved him, scrunching your nose as you laughed at his remark. you felt like there were butterflies in your stomach, you wanted to kick your feet in the air and gush about all this to your friends. neil was the only one who could make you feel that way. "you're so lame, like really lame. that was so lame of you. i like it though."
"i love you too." his lips curled into a broad grin and continued to help you clear each other off. as soon as he was done, neil put the bowl with the dry and wet ingredients side by side and faced you.
“so what’s next master chef?”
“it says here to mix these two together then put them in the muffin cups.”
“okay, should be easy enough.”
he lifted the bowl with the wet ingredients and slowly poured it into the other bowl, you saw that the wet ingredients weren’t going down quicker as you expected.
“is it supposed to be… that super thick?” you worryingly asked, fearing that you two did something wrong. how could you mess up baking cupcakes?
“no.. i don’t think so. maybe you should add more milk.” he proposed, setting down the bowl and handing you the carton of milk. he grabbed the wooden spoon as you added the milk into bowl and stirred, also adding the dry ingredients in.
“i think i added too much milk.” you admitted, the mixture was now too runny. it was supposed to be just the right amount of thick.
“try adding more flour.”
you followed neil’s suggested and lifted the cake flour box, it was lighter than you expected. there wasn’t much flour left, since almost half of its contents went to your face. but it’ll have to do.
“now its too thick again.” you deadpanned as you shook your head, “i’ll just add a bit more milk..”
when neil finished stirring, you poured the finished batter onto the muffin cups and he placed the tray of soon-to-be cupcakes into the oven before setting the timer. you both sighed in relief and felt fulfilled, since you two saved the cupcake batter you almost screwed up.
neil decided to play around with your small dog that entered the kitchen a few minutes earlier when he heard the commotion, and you made a little snack out of the excess batter. obviously, you took pictures as he did. the two most adorable boys you loved in the world together, a sight to behold.
when you heard the timer ring, you took a pair of mittens from the drawer and gave them to neil, letting him take the cupcakes out. the sweet fresh aroma the cupcakes gave off filled the kitchen air, the scent of vanilla making you salivate just from its fragrance.
“these look delicious!” neil cheered with a puppy grin on his lips, happily setting down the tray onto the counter top to let it cool.
“ah shoot! we forgot to make the frosting!”
“it’s alright my love, we can just enjoy it as it is.”
the two of you munched down on the cupcakes as soon as they cooled, even offering some to your parents. it wasn’t too bad for your first time, they weren’t perfect either. but it’s something you and neil made together, and that alone makes you happy.
“we should do this again.” he suggested, finishing off the last crumb of his cupcake that he was eating.
“definitely. let's bake a cake.”

Fireworks - Charlie Dalton
Tumblr media
Hey! This is my first post ever so i hope you like it <3
This idea came to me while watching some fireworks with my friends @nogoandbees <3
Summary: you watch the fireworks with Charlie Dalton and he focuses more on you than the view in front of him.
Warning: none.
Pairing: Charlie Dalton x gn! reader
One shot is below the line, thank u for reading!
The boys were pretty excited about going to the end-of-summer fair, however, you weren´t as thrilled. Loud noises and big crowds were not your thing, but Neil literally begged you to go with them.
The reason?
Charlie Dalton.
He had spent the whole week calling the Perry´s House to the point where Mrs. Perry stopped picking up the phone because she already knew who was calling.
Of course, the poets knew why he was so persistent about you going with them to the fair. His plan was to kiss you on the top of the Fair Ferris Wheel, as cheese as it sounded. That was all he could think of for the last weeks of August until the day finally came.
You spent almost half an hour deciding what to wear, while Neil waited in the hallway just outside your door reading a book. Putting chapstick on your lips you finally came out of your room, and of course, your big brother had to make a comment about how much time you took to get ready.
"Dressing up for someone?"
"Never" Even though you were lying to yourself.
You both started walking towards Meeks´s place since it was near the fair. You kept trying to calm yourself down, you haven´t seen Charlie since the school year ended and it seemed that every time you saw him he just keep getting more handsome than last time.
You were meeting Knox and Chris directly at the entrance and you were suddenly missing the female support she gave to you, she just seemed to understand you and your little crush better.
After what appeared to be forever, they all entered the precinct and started pointing out everything that they liked, from the cotton candy to the big roller coaster.
When the sun was starting to set, Pitts recommended seeing the view from the top of the Ferris Wheel. Charlie got mentally prepared to ask you out and he finally spoke.
"Hey, I was wondering, well, if you wanted ..."
Just as he was going to finish his sentence, Chris snatched your arm,
"Y/n!! Sit with me on the Ferris Wheel, please!"
She looked really excited as she grabbed your hand and you couldn´t help but to say yes. You then turned around to face Charlie.
"What were you saying?"
"Nothing important"
Just as he said that he turned and joined Neil and Todd in the queue.
You wondered what he was going to say but your turn to get on the ride was coming. You enjoyed your time with Chris on the wheel even if the ride wasn´t really long.
"So, Y/n, how´s your crush going? Still there?"
You wondered for a little while. You never knew what Charlie was feeling, he was always so extra and extroverted. But you could tell that was just a facade for how he truly was. The only thing you really knew was that he was extremely loyal to his friends, which honestly just made you like him even more.
"I don´t know, I really don´t know if he´s even interested in me"
Chris just smiled as if she knew something you didn´t.
"Why are you smiling?"
"It´s nothing really, you will see it for yourself later"
...
The sun was already set when all of you sat down at the stairs of the building next to the fair. Pitts had said something about watching the fireworks from there because it had the best view. They sat down in the blankets and had a few laughs while you kept thinking about what Chris said about you seeing it for yourself.
"Everything okay?" Neil asked sitting in front of you.
You pulled yourself out of your mental trip and answered.
"Yeah, you know how I feel about loud noises"
Knox was quick to enter the conversation "Oh yeah, I remember that time we tried to make a surprise for your birthday and when we came into your house shouting, you almost fell down the stairs."
Charlie added another story "Or when I accidentally blasted music through your speakers while you were reading almost had a heart attack"
"That could happen to everyone" You tried to defend yourself.
Just as you said that the first firework was shot through the sky and you covered your ears just in case. You felt an arm wrapped around your shoulders and turned to see Charlie looking at the fireworks like nothing happened.
You tried to ignore it like everyone else who were too focused on the display in front of them to even notice.
Charlie´s plans had gone to waste, so this was pretty much his only chance to kiss you. he leaned a bit closer as you looked up to find his gaze.
"Are you alright?" you asked.
"I just, can I try something?"
Confused by his question you slowly nodded. Right after you agreed, you felt his lips on yours. Surprised, you opened your eyes and completely froze.
He pulled away with a sad look on his face. "Sorry, I thought we liked each other and..."
You quickly put your hand on his cheek and kiss him again. It was a very soft kiss, not rushed, perfect for you. A few seconds passed and you were so happy that forgot the fireworks. Though a really loud noise brought you back to reality and surprised you, accidentally biting his lower lip.
He pulled away touching his lips in shock. His reaction was so pure that you couldn´t help but laugh. A lot.
"Oh my god, I´m so sorry, I didn´t mean to, Charlie."
But he didn´t look mad at all, he just smiled and snuggled closer.
"Is this payback for the speaker's situation?"
You just smiled like a fool in love.
"Maybe it is, Dalton."
"Damn me for falling in love with a Perry."
I´m sorry if this is cringy, I really tried my best :(
Hope you like it! <3
