Twewy native Pre week 2 neku and kh1 Riku would be the most toxic friend group ever

I had to specify neku as twewy native because in dream drop josh straight up said they all died and that's why they got sent to traverse town. But given his lines it's clear he's at least past peak asshole neku.

OH YEAH VERY TRUE. but actually I don't even think they'd be friends, if that makes sense. Riku needs someone kind who looks up to him (like Sora and Kairi), and Neku pre-twewy... isn't that. Neku on the other hands needs people he can relate to and who share his worldviews (ex: how he got along with Joshua in week 2 and was able to have many interesting discussions with him despite, yknow, thinking Joshua murdered him). So it wouldn't actually work if there was only the two of them: Riku doesn't share Neku's values of shutting himself from people because he's scared of getting hurt & hurting them. And Neku only looks up to CAT.

It all begins and ends, with Neku Sakuraba. Or at least that is my theory.

"Who needs friends! They just laugh and talk like idiots, and pretend to agree with you... So you end up caring about them... exposing yourself... getting HURT... Screw it! We're better off without them! You want people getting in your way? Dragging you down? I don't. And I never said we were friends. You did!""

Neku's story arc in the original game is one full of hurt, as KH often calls it. As the above dialog shows (said to Shiki) Neku has been hurt in the past, and resists any form of connection to someone else. However, upon finding himself in the Reaper's Game, Neku is forced to connect and open up to Shiki. All because if he doesn't he won't "win" the Reaper's Game. Neku's whole story arc, is learning how to connect with and rely on others again, after closing himself off. Awhile back I talked about some of the connections between the scene where Sora wakes up in a version of Scramble Crossing, and how it mirror's Neku's in TWEWY (link here). This makes me ask a question. Is Sora being set up for the same arc? In the very beginning of DDD Sora encounters Neku. You get bits and pieces of Neku's original story, in KH. Such as Neku's clear resistance to Sora's desire to be friends with him.

"Now we're friends? It's not that easy." "Not saying it is, but... you could make it easier."

Heh, the simple mind of a kid. Seriously, Sora looks at Neku and wants to help, for him it really is that simple. Earlier in the same conversation Neku calls Sora out on this:

"What? Time out. Do you trust every total stranger you meet?"

In fact, this trust is actually betrayed by Neku, by leading Sora to Young Xehanort. Sora, of course, brushes it off later, by saying that at the last minute Neku changed his mind and defended him. Sora never once thinks of Neku any less than a friend. But Sora's story doesn't end there. It is only the beginning. The beginning of Traverse Town seems there to serve as a reminder of Sora's simple child-like heart, to further highlight how he changes over the course of the story, especially the end. I've talked about how that in meeting Roxas, Sora's childhood ends (link). And I've talked about Sora's arc in KH3 in various places. (I could lay it out some time, and I might one day.) But in the end where does everything lead? To Scramble Crossing. On the surface, it seems like just a veneer. Sora just ends up in the same place (of a sort) is all. But if you look closer at Sora's arc, it seems to paint a different picture. This is where my theory comes in. The ending of KH3 seems to be both right and wrong to me all at once. It has given me loads of grief for that reason. There is plenty of dialog and framing to support both sides strongly, so which one is right? Or if it is that clear on both sides, are both true? I think it is the latter. Sora saves Kairi, a very special thing. But seemingly, Sora also choses a darker path in the process. And the fact that he wakes up in Scramble Crossing, seems to point to that. If we look at the story in KH3, it all seems to be put together to apply pressure on Sora, and to make him, well, flee. Now that the others (especially Kairi) is safe, he can now run away from the hurt in his heart and go off and have new adventures. This is my theory. That the whole story is designed to set Sora up on a path like Neku's. I do think that if this is the case, we need more framing to make it stronger. Sora has to continue to further cut himself off from others, to further align himself with Neku's choices. Still, even if Sora doesn't quite go there, I think one fact remains; Sora's heart is hurting. And because of that, Sora is overwhelmed, and needs space to figure it out. Sometimes we got to do that. It is like what Esmeralda says in DDD to Riku:

"We all do that sometimes. There are just some things we need to keep separate from the world at large, at least until we have time to figure them out."

Perhaps that is why Riku lets Sora go. If anyone would know how sometimes you need to walk a lonely path, it would be him.

walking back around riku to look him in eye he gives a affirming grin before putting his hands in his pockets. ❝  i have'a feelin' it'll help you get closer to 'that place' where sora resides. ❞ he might not be able to take riku naturally himself, but he could help modulate him and his keyblade closer to getting there. put a bit of soul into it.

I just had a silly thought, admittedly one probably joked about before:

Neku and Shiki are AU versions of Cloud Roxas and Kairi.

They even have black coat enemies who can summon the magic soul demon monsters the players have to fight. Look at that coat and tell me that it doesn't remind you of Xemnas.

Not sure what you fully mean, but the server allows you to have more than 1 canon character. However, if you mean 1 canon character as in no duplicates. Then yeah there are no duplicates allowed We currently already have

TBH OG twewy is like. The only time for me personally that NS actually... works.

And that's because it comes across as exactly what I'd personally label what it is at the time; a mutual teen crush.

They're both in this high stakes-high risk situation where their emotional states are already hitting the roof and continuing to climb so it's not unrealistic to think that 'oh this person is actually pretty cool and neat' is getting mixed in there.

The fact they don't have any hobbies in common isn't a big deal as teens; that's something they could solve by actually dating and figuring mutual interests out together.

But instead Neku gets shoved into the UG again. And Shiki is separated from him for 3 years and we get no background on if they ever even started dating officially and put in that work to ensure their relationship had a sturdy foundation.

It's just taken for granted that because Neku is the Boy and Shiki is the Girl their relationship is 100% a thing without actually putting in the work to make the relationship seem at all viable to anyone besides people who nod their heads and go 'yeah he's the main Boy and she's The Girl of course they're together'.

It's just so. Empty. Perfectly Female Gender Roles girlfriend and Perfectly Male Gender Roles boyfriend playing sweet empty domesticity that you could find in any standard mainstream m/f relationship and completely sandblasting both their original personalities for a relationship that has two people with nothing in common, built off teen feelings instead of anything substantial, where they didn't even see each other for three years, and feels like the narrative just brushes it's hands and goes "it's a Boy and a Girl, that's all people should need to think this relationship works."

And it's not even a ship sinking thing because I have never been under any impression that my main ship was going to be canon (nor did I ever want it to be, JN is more fun when it's non canon); it's basically 'I could cut out Shiki and replace her with Kairi from KH and nothing about this relationship would change.' They turned Shiki from an actual character into a cut and pastable female love interest and I fucking hate it.

Sexuality Headcanon: look at him. that's a homosexual. a very annoying one in a boring outfit but a Homosexual nonetheless. however. specifically he's homoromantic asexual. to me.

Gender Headcanon: trans man who gets just a little spicy with it (he/they/it in general but He/Him when he's feeling Annoying and she/her on the occasions he feels like it)

A ship I have with said character: i'm BORING okay <- joshneku. however joshbeat is also very funny to me i am smashing them together like barbie dolls.

A BROTP I have with said character: i think josh and shiki would be an incredible duo if they do not kill each other in the first 20 minutes. rather, if she does not kill him. again. also this is probably just dream drop distance talking but joshua and rhyme's dynamic can be SO.

A NOTP I have with said character: i suppose i'm not the biggest enjoyer of him and haz, but honestly i don't really care that much.

A random headcanon: ok this is a pretty common one but that boy definitely killed himself. most dramatically ironic if he did it from falling or a gun but no matter what that boy died by his own hand before he tried doing it again through neku

General Opinion over said character: i hate his ass so much. if anyone insults him theyre right but they are also so so so wrong. no one understands him like i do. i don't understand him either. i would punch him immediately if given the chance. someone needs to drag his ass to therapy yesterday. he's (probably) my favourite twewy character. i hate his stupid gay ass.

a list of my favorite kingdom hearts x disney headcanons:

1. no one questions why sora is traveling with an anthropomorphic duck and dog bc donald’s magic disguises them as human. they all see donald as a very short man and goofy as a very tall man. some people (like the keyblade wielders) can see through it they just don’t care. what you’re seeing in places like atlantica, the duck/octopus hybrid and the dog/turtle hybrid, is only half of their magic. the other half completes the transformation, so ariel and co. just see a disney-ified octopus and turtle. this is also why no one questions why ven is mouse-sized. they just see him as a mouse.

2. after the events of reverse/rebirth, mickey illegally adopted riku. one day he gets home to disney castle and he’s like “hi minnie the love of my life i love what you did with your hair oh by the way i adopted a child this is our new son riku.” and at first minnie is like “what.” but then she’s immediately ride or die for this random goblin child that mickey just picked up somewhere. the only perk this gives to riku is the fact that he can now use mickey and minnie’s names, not just their titles. at one point riku accidentally calls mickey “dad.” he’s mortified, but mickey is super touched and also never lets him live it down.

3. the reason why rikus hair looks so ragged in DDD is because he tried to use his keyblade to cut it like mulan and it obviously did not work. he was gonna get it touched up professionally but then he was called for the mark of mastery exam and so he had to put it off.

i had a dream the other night that there was a kingdom hearts disney xd show that was basically just a nonsense-of-the-week roommates au where sora riku and kairi got a house together and shenanigans ensue. there was one episode where maleficent showed up at the door like “i don’t wanna be evil anymore i wanna make friends” so they kept trying things to make her more non-threatening but nothing worked until they got her into pop music via kate bush and were like “here’s something not scary that you can use to bond with people” and now i want this show more than anything

The list of Square Enix characters I want in Kingdom Hearts:

You know... this was going to have a particular order, but then I realized that that might be too hard for me to figure out. So no particular order? I think? (I should also mention that most of this list is about people who have never appeared before... except for Neku, Shiki, Rhyme, Joshua, and Beat, because I'm a hypocrite and love them too much--and also want Kairi to have her chance to meet them, dangit!--and because there's a chance if the Wicked Twisters show up in Quadratum, they also could? Or at least some of the Hachiko Group?) Edit: Sho Minamimoto would also be fun. He was in Flick Rush in DDD kind of, but not really (he was just a name of a "competitor" you could go up against in that game, if memory serves). Let's bring him into KH for real now:)

I want the The World Ends With You gang to appear again. But also, of course, the new Neo TWEWY characters. But if it can only be one Neo character, Rindo, of course.

Clive Rosfield from Final Fantasy XVI.

I do agree with people who want Final Fantasy XV characters to appear, like Noctis. But with Nomura's feelings about the game (for obvious reasons), I sadly doubt it will ever happen. So part of me was reluctant to even include this. (Also, this could now cause confusion with the Verum Rex stuff, unfortunately.)

Final Fantasy XIII characters. People's favorite picks seem to be Snow and Lightning, which I definitely understand. (I could also see Noel making a cameo, for some reason, which would also be great). The most famous idea, back in the day, was that Hades would hoodwink the two of them into working for him in order to save Serah (which I really, really loved!). But now that Olympus' story is done, that can't happen. But I still think we can find ways to fit them into the story, of course.

Zidane and Garnet from Final Fantasy IX.

Rinoa Heartily from Final Fantasy VIII, for sure, who KHII already teased! Give me my Squinoa! And have this be part of the reason Leon goes back to his true name... though, sadly, I feel like Nomura has either forgotten about all of this, or moved on from it. -le sigh- I also wouldn't mind Laguna, since he was already almost in Birth by Sleep.

And then a secret special answer (that no one will care about but me), who I think I'll save mentioning for kh4challengeweek.

I don't know if these ones are truly on my list (though I do love them), because I could kind of take them or leave them. Mainly because I just can't see it happening, for some reason. But Vaan and Penelo from Final Fantasy XII, since they have their similarities to Sora and Kairi. And this one has even less of a chance (because she doesn't really fit KH), and I would just want her because I love her: Ashe.

Oh! And chocobos, of course!

(Also, to be clear, I wouldn't mind more characters from some of these games. Especially some of our lovely leading ladies. But I just figure that first and foremost, if anyone is to appear, it'll be the heroes and then they might add some more people from the respective games. So we'll be lucky if we even get the heroes.)

Edit: I also agree with everyone else, of course, that we need one more Sephiroth battle to finish off that whole arc. I would have preferred it in KHIII, but we can definitely have it in KHIV. After that, I'm also of the opinion that Kefka should be the next super boss.

Gilgamesh showing up would also be wonderful.
