Scarlet Witch (2023) #7 preview [source], in stores 8/2
JOURNEY INTO OZ!
Wanda swore to help anyone who walked through her door … but what happens when that person is a villain? When Nelson Gruber, aka Bookworm, comes through the Last Door seeking aid to kill wicked witches in a corner of Oklahoma that’s been transformed into the Emerald City, Wanda must choose between honoring her covenant and going against her own principles. Now the Scarlet Witch has attracted the attention of a dangerous new foe: Introducing NICOLA ZOSIMOS, aka HEXFINDER!
PLUS: A bonus page written by Jonathan Hickman – WHO ARE THE G.O.D.S.?
I'm very intrigued by the Wicked Witch character here. Her design, and the creatures serving her, are actually fairly accurate to the Frank L. Baum novels, which is refreshing. I'm curious if she will be an actual autonomous character, or if she's just a construct of this illusory Oz world. Unfortunately, I wouldn't be surprised if she gets killed off by Hexfinder...

considering the next few plot descriptions and previews for the current Scarlet Witch run, I feel like a major aspect or theme of the issues we're getting soon is this idea of clashing duties.
Marvel.com describes Scarlet Witch #6 as an issue that centers on conflicts of interest. If you've made an oath to help someone, anyone, who comes to you for assistance, but said oath clashes with your desire to protect your family, what do you choose?
The ethical dilemmas don't stop here though!
Scarlet Witch #7 is going to continue this trend by putting Wanda in the difficult position of deciding if she'll help this deep-cut villain or not.
Ultimately, I don't have any concrete answers for what decisions she should make. However, I think it would be a shame if the final conclusion is that the Last Door 'doesn't work'. I deeply enjoy the concept. I feel like it's a fulfilling way to utilize her magic for altruistic means, especially in cases where her clients simply don't have that resource or power. Discarding it altogether as a failed experiment would make me sad honestly.

“The power of the printed word is mine... FOREVER!”
As far as I can tell, this is Bookworm’s only appearance, so he may still be out there in the MU, with his stolen powers.
And since Marvel Comics exists in Marvel Earth, printing comics about the exploits of the various superheroes and villains -- and are so vetted they’re cited in court cases -- a skilled writer could do some really interesting meta stuff with this guy.

Presenting the Eagles!
Can you believe it? The deadline is here! Diego is beyond thrilled with his new crew and can’t wait to expand his criminal empire!
Diego’s Inner Circle:
Rafael Santos (@boolpropism) former lover and trusted associate to Diego.
Alec Finley (@tabbyrhsims4simblr) once Diego’s captive, now a close friend and trusted associate. Alec is head of the group’s online ‘endeavours’.
Lonnie Leibovitz (@paupelou) Diego’s longtime driver. Diego keeps telling him he needs to get laid, Lonnie is not so convinced.
Sonny Gurrieri (@cyberth0t) the last member of “the old gang” as Diego calls it. Elder statesman and mentor to younger members of the gang. Closest thing Diego has ever had to a father-figure.
Ashton O’Dwyer (@hirakoraavaa) Diego’s personal bodyguard. Diego tries to be nice knowing that Ash could snap his head clean off his shoulders.
Maria “La Princesa Jaguar” Santos (@magnoliapromenadegalleria) She’ll play a big role in Diego’s expansion into Willow Creek. Maria doesn’t understand why he’d want to take over that dump, anyway.
Allison “Flaca” Katz (@streetlightaurora) a talented runner, Flaca is another key player in the Willow Creek expansion.
New Recruits:
Joel Hoffman (@treelinesandpoppyfields)
Rylee Nelson (@makitokito)
Andrew Kinnen (@wantingwings)
Members with plot-related roles (so far):
Dariush Armand (@ice-creamforbreakfast) gun runner and a bit of a jerk
Gabriel Studder (@themoonglitch)
Den “Mad Razor” Reynold (@karinalova)
Yann Dion (@novvac)
Nevara “Devil’s Shadow” (@xenoplvtinum)
Dmitri Popovskij (@literalite)
Gruber Twins (@kingfakey)
Hirata Twins (@nice-being)
Ira Rowan (@mingusx) she’s gonna blow shit up
Members whose roles I’m still figuring out:
Ruben Rollins (@wizardingworldofharrypottersims)
Nina Caliente (@alkalinesims)
Remi Archambeau (@pixel-falls)
Special Appearances (so far):
Cesare Salvatore (@maladi777) heir to the Salvatore family “business” and frenemy of Diego. Diego’s been invited to a party thrown in Cesare’s honour.
For the love of all that is good, please please PLEASE tell me if I missed anyone!
I’m still developing a lot of these and are obviously subject to change as I dig into the plot a little more. Also quite a few of these guys have roles that won’t be revealed yet due to spoilers! Feel free to connect with me with any ideas for your sim, I’m sure I’ll be bugging a lot of you asking questions :)
Finally, I want to sincerely thank everyone for their participation! I could never have imagined this kind of response, let alone all the amazing, badass sims submitted! You’re all awesome :)
PS: Don’t forget to send me your sims!

Have you read the latest SW yet? Not going to be able to read it for a few days, what happens?
A lot of plot teasing, but not a lot of plot development. This issue has a lot crammed into it, and the Oz storyline didn't get the time it needed to shine.
Spoilers under the cut.
The Magneto character is Joseph, the Magneto clone from the 90s. Last time we saw him, he was a full-tilt villain, but he claims that he was "unwell" and "manipulated" at the time, and that all he wants is a fresh start. Wanda, obviously, sympathizes.
Joseph alleges that he was brought back to life by Sinister sometime before Krakoa, but he escaped the lab where he was being kept and has been wandering ever since. He comes across as sweet and earnest, and offers to help Darcy investigate the low-mysterium. I'm a little suspicious that he's not telling the whole truth.
This conversation is interrupted by Nelson Gruber, AKA Bookworm, arriving through the Last Door. Gruber is able to manifest people, places, and things from books into the real world-- this power is derived from the Mindscape, which is a psychic plane within the astral realm. We learn in this issue that Gruber's manifestations aren't just constructs-- they're living beings from a region of the Mindscape called the Ideaverse.
Gruber has transformed a portion of Oklahoma into the kingdom of Oz, and set himself up as its ruler. He was overthrown by the Wicked Witch of the West, who cut off Gruber's hand and bound it to a copy of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. With this, she is able to keep Oz anchored in the real world and command absolute power within its borders. She has used this power to subjugate the people of Oz and bring them under her total magical control.
Wanda recognizes that the Witch wants justice for the way Gruber treats denizens of the Ideaverse, but she also recognizes that the Witch is a despot in her own right. She uses a hex to switch clothing with the Witch, obtaining both the book and the Silver Shoes in the process. Wanda clicks her heels three times and sends all of Oz back to the Ideaverse, and banishes Gruber there, as well. Oz-- and Oklahoma-- are free, but the Witch is still able to take Gruber prisoner and mete out her justice.
There are also two epilogue scenes-- a G.O.D.S. tie-in page, and an introduciton to Hexfinder, AKA Nicola Zosimos.
The G.O.D.S. tie-in is a short scene. Dimitri arrives for a meeting the Countexes of Sevalith in Otherworld. He shows off a new invention and mentions that he is a proxy of the "Powers-That-Be," but no further information is given.
Nicola arrives in Baglia and delivers an artifact called the Wordsword to the sorcerer Diablo, as compensation for his assistance in "temporal transmutation." I suppose we can expect time-travel or time magic to be part of Nicola's plan in future issues.
Nicola also claims that her family was betrayed by witches centuries ago, which is why she's out to get Wanda.
