Pride banned Jews?!?
So it's that time of year again that I see people circulating stuff that is completely fabricated about what they imagine happened at Chicago Dyke March in 2017.
First, Dyke March is not Pride. It is not meant to be apolitical or single-issue. It is explicitly anti-imperialist, anticapitalist, and, yes, antizionist. It's not the big mainstream pride Parade that has corporate sponsors (and ads for gay tourism in Israel), it's a small radical grassroots demonstration.
Ok now that that's out of the way, they did not "ban Jews". I was there. They did not "ban Jewish symbols". They did not ask anyone to leave because of their Jewish pride flag.
What actually happened was three women who turned out to be employed by Israeli pinkwashing operation A Wider Bridge participated in the march with a rainbow flag that featured a blue star of david in the center. I remember seeing it and disliking it bc it gave me Zionist vibes but neither I nor anyone else bothered them about it.
After the march there was a cookout in the park. The women were asked to leave by a Jewish member of the Dyke March Collective after several hours of hanging out at the cookout because they were harassing other marchgoers.
Immediately publications like Forward, Tablet, JTA, as well as more mainstream publications started running stories making wild untrue claims which you can still read if you Google it because none of these were ever corrected or retracted. It's clear that these AWB agents had press releases pre-written and ready to fire as soon as they managed to provoke any reaction that they could spin into a controversy.
The photos that ran along with these headlines were also misleading. One of them showed a photo of a rainbow flag with a white star in the center. The star on the flag I saw was blue, and the shade of the star has specific political connotations. Showing a different flag with the politically significant color removed is extremely misleading. The one that was carried in the march (and which, again, wasn't banned!) looked like this:
Tumblr media
Another banner image, this one in a New York Times article, showed a young woman with dark curly hair holding a sign that says "this is who we are". She was clearly chosen to feature because of her stereotypically Jewish features. The article implies that she is one of the supposedly banned Jews. This is false. You know how I know? Bc that was the friend I was there with that day! She does not identify as Jewish, she looks like that bc she is Italian, and she had no idea she was being photographed!
Tumblr media
I had a hat decorated with red and black stars of David, and the following year a bunch of us wore Workers Circle sashes with Yiddish text (which uses the Hebrew alphabet) as well. No one who wasn't employed by a Zionist organization was asked to leave or even questioned about anything related to Zionism or Jewish identity.
I'm resigning myself to the fact that this is going to get dug up and passed around every year and people will believe what they want to believe, but if you hear claims that some queer group "banned Jews" or something similar, please look at the source for the information and if possible try to talk to actual Jewish people who participate in the community events being discussed. And if you hear this about Chicago Dyke March in specific, please correct people. I feel like I'm going insane when this many people are insisting that what I saw and experienced wasn't real and pointing to the barrage of misleading articles as what I should believe over my own experiences.

In celebration of reaching 900 followers!
Ever since I started playing the Globetrotter challenge by @moonfi; I've been creating a collection of UI Widget style templates. This collection includes 20(ish) different templates for you to use in your gameplay screenshots. I'm hoping I did my best to make this as user-friendly as possible; but if you have any questions or notice something off - don't hesitate to message me or send an ask!
[Terms of Use] Do: Use & edit as much as you want and/or know how to. Don't: Reupload & claim as your own. Do: Link back to this post if asked where they're from.
[You Need] Fonts: April | Lemonmilk | Kids Handmade TS4 Icons: deathbypufferfish | w-sims | TheSimKid (I've had L'Universims' icons before they were hacked but as far as I know they've moved to a new website so download from there at your own risk.)
DOWNLOAD (SFS) 66.3mb **FIXED** (Missing moodlet)
Tumblr media
[Tips & Hints]
Open the awkwardwhims psd collection file in Photoshop, then drag & drop the folder or group of templates onto your image.
The photo album template was inspired by @folkbreeze (definitely check out their resources, they're all so nice!) & other various examples I saw online.
Resize the template by selecting the folder as a whole; resizing individual layers may makes things unaligned.
Feel free to change background colors/fonts/etc as much as you want.
The text message template has 3 styles: sender, green receiver & blue receiver. There are also reaction icons & a separate reaction bar.
For the to-do list template I didn't include every aspiration icon (I was trying to keep this file as small as possible) but you can download this pack by @deathbypufferfish that has all the aspiration icons you'll need. However, it may be missing some of the newer aspiratons.
When adding photos (album cover/recent photos/etc) use a clipping mask.
The weather template includes all the different weather icons, so be sure to hide/unhide the one that applies.
For the new transaction template, make sure to only change the number of the price otherwise the Simoleon symbol will get changed to Times New Roman.
The notification message template is for life events, bad events & default game notifications (ie: legacy player, etc).

"You truly believe you can ensure my safe passage home? After everything?"
"With all my heart..."

|
The salty tang of the sea clung to your hair as you followed Odysseus back to the creaking ships. The satchel against your hip jostled with every step, containing all of your life ever since the ambush of your village.
Midway through readying the ship for their long-awaited return, the men around fell silent as Odysseus approached.
Murmurs rippled through the crew as they watched their battle-scarred leader approach, a stranger by his side.
Reaching the center of the gathered crowd, Odysseus raised a hand for silence. A hush fell over, their gazes flitting between you and their captain.
"This one!" he boomed, aura carrying the authority of a seasoned leader, "is under my is under my protection. Do not lay hand upon her, show her the respect you may give to me."
Glances flicker towards you and stare intently, their faces etched with curiosity and a hint of something...more.
What it could be? You don't know, but you refuse to show it. Even riddled with fear and wary, you held your head high, posture radiating confidence.
That's when the whispers reached your ears: "A goddess, perhaps?" one muttered. "Sent to test us," another added, a hint of reverence lacing his voice.
'Wait...what?' You blink at this. Looking closer, you realize they are staring at you in awe, not lust.
You steal a peek at Odysseus, but his face remained impassive, any amusement he might've felt hidden.
'A goddess huh?' Your lips twitch, a snort of disbelief threating to escape your lips. Seems Odysseus initial shock towards you wasn't a one man reaction.
"Men!" attention is brought once more to the King of Ithaca.
"We have weathered storms. We have battled and sacrificed. Yet, victory lies within reach. Today," he brings a fist up to the heavens. "we begin our journey home!"
Cheers erupted from them, collective roars of relief and anticipation.
The rest of the day was a blur of activity: sails unfurled, oars readied for rowing—image of home ever the motivator.
Days bled into weeks, the endless blue horizon and rocking of the ship becoming your new normal.
The crew remained wary, interactions limited to curt greetings and exchanges. Your only solace came from occasional conversations with Odysseus and surprisingly, both Eurylochus and Polites.
Speaking of which, a tense discussion was brewing near the stern. Eurylochus, his weathered face etched with worry, was locked in a heated debate with the king.
"Six hundred mouths to feed," Eurylochus stressed, frustration coloring his voice, "and our supplies are dwindling! We may not make it far, we are running on fumes!"
Polites, ever the diplomat, step forth in hopes of calming the second in command. "We'll find a way, Eurylochus. Odysseus is a resourceful man—"
"Look!" Their conversation was abruptly interrupted by Odysseus himself, his gaze fixed on the sky.
You follow his line of sight, spotting a flurry of birds flying into the distance. Your brow raise at that, catching on to his proposal.
"We watch where they go, and there we will hunt for food." Giving a firm nod, Eurylochus began giving new orders.
════════════════*.·:·.☽✧ ✦ ✧☾.·:·.*═════════════════
Hours had pass, soon the Sun going down leaving the stars and moon as your only source of light.
"Captain!" Polities' cry breaks you out of your daily/night inventory checkup. "There in the distance: I see a light faintly glowing."
You quickly stuff everything back into your bag, rushing over to stand next to the Greek warrior and see for yourself.
He turns and gives you a bright grin, lightly bouncing on his feet. "Maybe it's a village lighting a fire? Who knows! They might even share some food."
"No." Odysseus shakes his head. "No, somethings not right. I see fire...but there's no smoke."
Eurylochus scoffed. "Let's raid the place and be done with it!" he barked, his hunger overriding caution.
Odysseus narrowed his eyes. "No," he countered, his voice firm. "There must be another way, one that doesn't involve bloodshed."
"Captain you can't be serious, we don't know of the danger's ahead! A—"
"Just!...just give me until sunrise," Taking a glance at the awaiting crew, his voice lower in attempt to quell their bloodthirst knowing just speaking of potential fighting would set them off. "And if we don't return, burn this place to the ground."
Odysseus turns to Polities, gesturing towards the approaching island. "Polites, gear up. We'll scout ahead."
"Yes sir!"
"I'm coming with you!"
The mortal king's head snapped towards you, frown creasing his brow. "Absolutely not."
Your voice rose in protest. "B-but I can help! I'm a fast learner. My skills..."
"There will be no debate," he states, voice leaving no room for argument. "The men are weary. They need their rest. You will stay and watch over little Ajax."
Anger welled in your chest as your teeth gritted. You storm off, the sting of rejection burning in your eyes.
Being reduced to babysitting(once again) felt like an insult to your abilities. You couldn't help but pout in disappointment as you watch the two sail step off the ship, crossing your arms with a glare.
The rest of the night crawled by, the time made longer from your simmering resentment.
It was sunrise when Odysseus and Polities returned, their faces were painted with apprehension.
"We've been told of a cave with food in the east!" he said "enough to last us on our journey back to Ithaca, even extra to spare."
You perk up at the news as men were called to arms. Pushing your way into the forming group, you stand before Odysseus who releases a heavy sigh upon seeing your wide grin.
"Perhaps I can help assess the situation? My knowledge of—"
"We have enough help," he holds up a hand, silencing you with narrowed eyes. "You stay here with Ajax. Guard duty."
You bite your tongue to keep your anger from saying something disrespectful.
Taking a deep breath, you clasp your hands in a pleading motion. "Please. Just let me help. I-I can gather herbs, o-or even tend wounds..."
"There'll be no wounds," Odysseus says curtly. "We'll be in and out, quick and quiet."
And with that, he and his newly gathered group of men began venturing east in search of food.
Though your fists clenched in fury, you knew better than to disobey Odysseus directly. Instead, you waited, a plan forming in your mind.
It was then upon spotting the ever-cautious Ithacan Eurylochus right as he prepares to leave and catch up with the main group, an idea sparks.
You quickly approach him in determined strides. "Eurylochus, there isn't any proper medical supplies on board. I'm sure the men will gain injuries on their quest for food. And for that, I will need to go and get more herbs."
Eurylochus barely glanced in your direction, more focused on ensuring his weapons are tied on correctly as he gives a dry chuckle. "Injuries huh? I'm sure medicine won't be needed for a little wound."
"You sure about that?" Offput at the chilly tone of your voice, he looks up only to be taken aback at the emptiness of your gaze. "Even the mightiest of warriors have fallen, crossing the River Styx from a mere scrape."
A tremor of unease ran through Eurylochus. He cleared his throat, the bravado gone
"Alright," he conceded, "but if anything goes wrong..."
"There won't be anything wrong!" you assured him quickly, smile bright and innocent as if you hadn't just traumatized this man.
Gesturing two nearby men to come over, Eurylochus gives you one final look. "Now, I'm trusting you to get what you need and get out. This is Lycus and Alexander; they will watch over you, so stay close. Understood?"
You bobbed your head enthusiastically, already launching into a flurry of excited instructions for your temporary bodyguards.
Eurylochus couldn't help but shake his head and sigh as he turned to leave. "Gods...Odysseus is gonna kill me..."
════════════════*.·:·.☽✧ ✦ ✧☾.·:·.*═════════════════
The moment your feet touched the shore, a thrill shot through you. The air hummed with an unfamiliar energy, and the vibrant foliage swaying in the gentle breeze.
Years of training under your mother's watchful eye kicked in: You recognized the landscape instantly—the lush vegetation, the specific types of trees—everything she taught echoing in your mind.
Unlike Odysseus and his men trampling path, or the impatient stomping of your guards, you carefully navigated the undergrowth with practiced grace; steps light and sure.
Awe filled you as you surveyed the diverse flora. You stopped every so often, meticulously collecting samples in your satchel, murmuring a silent thank you with each pluck.
A memory flickered from your childhood's countless foraging trips; your mother kneeling beside you in a sun-dappled meadow as her hand gently guides yours. "Plants are lives of their own...they are deserving of respect, as would any other being."
Too caught up in reminiscing the past, you miss it when your small group stumbled into a clearing.
It wasn't until you noticed the men behind you stopping themselves did you pay attention to your surroundings.
There, in the center of the area was a group of figures. Their faces were serene, eyes filled with an otherworldly light.
You couldn't help but look at them in awe, tales heard over the years could never measure up to the—
The sound of drawn weapons snap you out of it.
"W-wait!" you cry, darting forward and placing yourself between the armed men and the peaceful Lotus-eaters. "Lower your weapons! They mean no harm."
Lycus, a gruff soldier with a gnarly scar on his cheek to match, scoffs. "They could be a threat, best get rid of them while we can" he grumbles, grip tightening on the hilt of his sword.
Undeterred, you squared your shoulders and met his gaze.
"And as I said, they mean no harm. Pose no danger Look at them!" You gestured towards the Lotus-eaters, some of whom were staring at you with wide-eyes, others seemingly lost in a blissful daydream. "They wouldn't hurt a fly."
A tense silence hung in the air. The men exchanged uncertain glances, unsure of how to react.
You pressed further, lowering your voice conspiratorially. "Besides. I'm not moving, and Odysseus wouldn't be too happy if I got hurt...now would he?"
The mere mention of the formidable leader caused the men to flinch, images of Odysseus' fearsome wrath flashing in their minds.
Lycus grunts in defeat. "Fine." Reluctantly sheathing his weapon, Alexander follows suit in a mixture of annoyance and grudging acceptance.
The Lotus people seemed captivated by the scene unfolding before them. Their gaze remained transfixed on you, faces filled with a strange mix of curiosity and wonder.
You turn and offer them a warm smile, disarming the Lotus-eaters completely. Their gaze remained fixed on you, captivated not just by your courage and kindness, but also by your beauty.
Unlike the warriors who had come earlier, bristling with aggression, you approached them with an open heart of respect and curiosity.
And they knew this...from the moment you stepped into the forest, you were being watched after all.
So watchful of those who arrived on their island, the Lotus-eaters had seen everything: your reverence for the plant life, your gentle touch as you collected herbs—it spoke all that was needed.
They felt—no, they knew your heart held no malice. So that's why they had no problem answering any question you asked.
Meanwhile, the men assigned to guard you grow bored from the lack of conflict. They began to talk to each other, attention drifting away from their assigned duty.
After all, you seemed perfectly safe surrounded by these serene beings.
Encouraged by your gentle demeanor, one of the Lotus-eaters hesitantly approach you. He's tall, a crown of woven leaves sitting on top of his curly-hair.
Shy and gentle eyes meet yours. A tranquil smile is etched on his face as he holds out a strange bulbous fruit within his cupped palms, its surface pulsating with an otherworldly glow.
You recognize it instantly for its legendary intoxicating properties, accepting the Lotus fruit with a grateful smile.
Knowing the dangers of the Lotus and its ability to induce a blissful forgetfulness, you carefully stow it away in your satchel.
The Lotus-eaters trill in content, their voices all speaking at once in a wave of pitches.
Straining to hear what they were saying, you slowly make out some of the words drifting through the air.
"...giant..." one voice rasped, low and conspiratorial. "...big as a mountain..." another chimed in.
You pause, a flicker of unease taking root in your stomach. 'Did I just hear that right?...'
"Excuse me," you began, your voice dropping to a hushed tone, "but I couldn't help but overhear something about a... giant?"
They eagerly nod, their excited chatter confirming your worst suspicions.
The Lotus-eater from earlier locks eyes with you. You sense a flicker of concern flash across his glazed eye before murky sereness takes place once more.
He spoke, voice deep and whimsy. "The one-eyed giant in the east? He owns most of the sheep,  calls himself Polyphemus..."
'Giant...sheep...cave...east...that means—' when the pieces clicked in your mind, dread coiled in your gut. Odysseus and his men...trapped with a monstrous cyclops?
This was a disaster.  You needed to get away, and fast.
Glancing at the warriors, still lost in their own world of boredom, a devious plan began to form in your mind.
You turn to the group of Lotus-eaters and lower your voice further.
"Listen," you began, urgency lacing your tone, "there's something really really important I need to get from the cave in the east."
You give a nudge towards the lounging duo guards. "Those men who came with me wouldn't understand. Plus they're not very nice...they've been nothing but mean and unhelpful!"
The Lotus-eaters exchanged glances. Even with their peaceful demeanor they could sense your worry.
"What do you want us to do?" the crowned Lotus-eater asked, his voice laced with alarm.
A large grin stretched across your face.
"Pretend to kidnap me!" you declared, barely able to contain a giggle. "Take me to the cave. There, I can handle the rest."
Their faces broke into wide smiles. Now this was a game they understood.
A Lotus-eater with eyes the color of the sky, clapped her hands in delight. "Oh that sounds fun!"
Before you could even blink, half of the group erupted in a playful ruckus of shouts and laughter; hurling small rocks branched leaves at the warriors.
The men sputtered in confusion as nearby plants and vines creeped down and snatched their weapons, leaving them flabbergasted and unarmed.
"What in Hades—" Alexander exclaims, eyes wide with confusion as his sword was yanked from his grasp by an unseen force.
Now for your part.
Taking a deep breath, you let out the most dramatic, exaggerated scream you could muster. "Help! Oh no! They are taking me! What ever shall I dooooo!"
The distracted guards turn in time to see the other half of the Lotus-eaters scoop you off the ground. You kicked your legs playfully, still crying out in mock distress. "No! Oh no! Let me go! Someone, save meeeeeee!"
As Lotus-eaters began moving to the cave, you grimace when realizing a little too late of your lack of fighting back and reaction to being taken. 'I hope they didn't see right through me. Probably should've acted a little more afraid.'
"H-hey!" You turn back to see Lycus' stressfully looking in your direction as he tries to dodge the sticks and stones, "They're kidnapping her!"
"We must save her!" Alexander chimed in, his panicked filled voice reaching your ears before you disappear into the foliage.
You blink in disbelief at their gullibility. 'Nevermind...'
════════════════*.·:·.☽✧ ✦ ✧☾.·:·.*═════════════════
The further you were carried away from the clearing, the more the sounds of chaos faded into the background.
When you finally reached a safe distance, they gently set you down.
Once brushing off your clothes and looking around you immediately notice the Lotus-eaters brought you to the side of a mountain.
'Where's the cave...?' Confusion flickered across your at face as you try to understand why you where there instead.
Seeing your puzzled expression, the crowned-Lotus eater stepped forward with a gentle smile.
"We brought you to a secret passage," he explains softly, "It's a hidden way that leads to where the sheep are kept. The giant one may find you at the entrance, but this path is safe."
He gestures towards a cluster of branches and vines. Pushing them aside, he reveals a human-sized crack in the mountainside before letting dense foliage fall back over the cleverly concealed hole.
A warm smile spreading across your face at their concern and attempt for your safety. "Thank you!"
Leaning forward, you stand on your toes to place a soft kiss on the forehead of the crowned-Lotus eater who's been your main communicator of the time.
His cheeks flushed a deep scarlet red as he giggled, his companions joining in with flushed faces and shy smiles of their own.
"Good luck," he whimsically mutters, still blushing.
With a nod, you turned towards the secret passageway. Your heart pounds as you carefully push aside the branch and vines and squeezed through the opening.
The rough stone walls loomed around you as distant noises faintly echo in the background.
Air growing cooler and damper with each step as you ventured deeper inside, it wasn't until then did the faint sounds became clearer—multiple voices talking and sounds of sheep scuffling around.
You pause at the edge of the cave, listening intently.
"Over here!" At the sound of Odysseus' commanding and calm voice, you immediately peek around the corner.
The first thing you're met with is an abundance of food and resources scattered all around: Jugs of wine stacked neatly against the walls, expensive cloths rich in color and texture, to even golden chalices and cups that gleamed in the torch-light cave.
And the sheep.
There were so many! So much, a few roaming ones were so close that you could feel the softness of their wool if you just reach out to tou—
Your nose scrunch up in disgust as a pungent wave of musk, grass, and a hint of manure hits you. 'Ugh...don't smell as cute as they look. That's for sure.'
Looking past the sheep, your body almost instinctively relaxed as you saw no signs of dead bodies or a murderous Cyclops.
Instead, you spotted the King of Ithaca standing alongside his 2nd of command and friend, onlooking as the other men got to work.
"Odysseus! Look at all this food...a-and all of these sheep!" Polites exclaims, you could even make out his bright smile all the way from here. "I can't believe it! This cave, it has all this for us to keep."
Eurylochus stood a few feet away, a begrudging nod of acceptance as he keep watch of the soldiers as they slaughter sheep and prepare to carry them to the ships. "I've gotta hand it to you both, this is quite the treat. More than enough sheep here to feed the entire fleet."
"Hmmm. I'm not sure. Looks too perfect, too good to be true." Odysseus seemed unconvinced. He shifted on his feet, glancing around as unease began seeping into his bones. "Why would the Lotus-eaters pass up on all this food?"
'Okay!' You take a step back, readying yourself for the potential scolding you most definitely were going to get for leaving the ship. 'You can do this...'
He sounds worried enough, so maybe he won't be too mad?
Taking a deep breath, you straighten you back and take a step out to greet the—
"WHO ARE YOU?" A deep, rumbling voice echoes through the cave, making everyone freeze in their tracks.
Popping your head back around the corner, the blood drains from your face once you see the Cyclops.
Odysseus steps up with a confident smile. "Hey there! We're just travelers." He waves to the giant and motion to the others. "We come in peace."
The cyclops says nothing at first. He's monstrous, frame towering above so high you could barely make out his features—a single eye glowing menacingly in the darkness as it glared down at the Spartan warriors.
"YOU KILLED MY SHEEP. MY FAVORITE SHEEP. WHAT GIVES YOU THE RIGHT TO DEAL A PAIN SO DEEP?"
You stumble back with a soft gasp and try to calm your racing heart. Your mind raced as you tried to figure out what to do.
"TIME TO DRINK—YOUR BLOOD OVER WHERE YOU STAND. YOUR LIFE NOW IS IN MY HAND."
Recalling the tales and stories of the cyclops' favored weapon (a massive club), you knew it was only a moment of time...
"BEFORE I'M DONE, YOU WILL LEARN THAT IT'S NOT SO FUN TO TAKE. YOU CAME TO MY HOME TO STEAL, BUT NOW YOU'LL BECOME MY MEAL."
Your hand flickered down to the weight in your satchel. With trembling fingers, you rummaged through it.
A Lotus fruit and bundle of dried Nepenthe and Poppy herbs are pulled out the bag, now in your hands. 'Please Gods....please. This has to work...'
"A TRADE, YOU SEE? TAKE FROM YOU LIKE YOU TOOK FROM ME."

Now You Know the Truth (Part 3)
Tumblr media
Summary: After your accident, a distraught Tommy waits for news about you and the baby.
Author's Note: Since there's been interest in a continuation of their story, here's another part. Credit goes to @pono-pura-vida for her help brainstorming this one!
Warnings: mention of miscarriage
Part 2
“Is she…” Tommy’s voice faltered halfway through his sentence, turning away from the uncertainty of what was to come. His forehead rested against the cool tiles briefly before Ada came to stand by his side, listening intently as the doctor explained you had survived your injuries. Though extensive, you were expected to make a full recovery in a few weeks time.
“And the baby?” Ada ventured, voice barely above a whisper.
The doctor shook his head, casting his eyes to the ground as he offered his condolences. “We did everything we could.”
“Thank you,” Ada mumbled as she placed a hand at her brother’s elbow for support.
“When can I see my wife?” Tommy asked on a shaky breath.
“The moment she wakes, we’ll let you know,” the doctor promised before disappearing behind the heavy swinging door.
——————————-
“It’s been twelve bloody hours,” Tommy growled as he continued pacing the corridor.
Stirring from his place on an uncomfortable wooden bench, Arthur joined his brother. “She took a hard fall, Tom. They said it could be days,” he reminded him.
“I have to see her. I need to make it right,” Tommy ranted, unable to eat or sleep until he could be with you once more.
Arthur clapped a hand over his brother’s shoulder to anchor him momentarily. “She knows you love her,” he assured Tommy.
Tommy’s face contorted in pain, eyes darting about the room, unable to calm himself as he replayed the last moments you’d spent together. “You heard what I said last night. Told her I should never have married her,” Tommy recalled.
“You didn’t meant it,” Arthur quickly dismissed with a shake of his head.
“She wanted to leave,” Tommy added in a distant voice, somewhere far away from where Arthur now stood eyeing him with deep concern.
“Is there a Thomas Shelby here?” a nurse called out, breaking Tommy’s trance. He broke free of Arthur’s hold to sprint toward the open door, eager for news of your progress. “Your wife is conscious,” she began, but her face held a look of uncertainty.
——————————-
Tommy entered your hospital room as gingerly as if her were walking across a frozen pond about to crack and plunge him into its icy depths. The sight of you bruised and bandaged stole his breath as he asked, “How are you feeling?”
The throbbing pain inside your skull made his words reverberate with a slight echo and you recoiled from the harsh noise. Wetting your parched lips you begged, “Could you speak more quietly please?” Swallowing harshly Tommy nodded, reaching for your hand slowly so as not to startle you. He watched as your disoriented gaze drifted down to your interlaced fingers and back up into his crystal blue eyes, waiting for a reaction.
“Why have you come?” you asked forlornly.
A shudder ran down his spine as he attempted to find the words to apologize to you properly. You deserved more than the lonely nights and harsh words he’d offered lately. He would make it up to you now though, he’d made a vow to himself as he paced the hospital corridors, images of your broken body lying at the bottom of the stairs enough to convince him of all his wrongdoing.
“I-I wanted to start by saying you were right, love. When I lost Polly, I lost sight of how to care for this family. I forgot I had you by my side,” he said, squeezing your hand gently.
You cocked your head as you noticed tears collecting at the corners of his eyes, proof of his sincerity so you sat silently, waiting of him to finish.
“I never wanted my child to become collateral damage. Can you forgive what I've done?” he asked, looking into your eyes with a pain stricken expression. As the moments of silence ticked by, Tommy’s inner panic grew. You could tell by the trembling of his hands before he spoke again. “Y/n, do you believe me?”
You held his gaze for a moment, biting the inside of your cheek as you made your decision. Then you spoke up, quietly and earnestly.  “Yes,” you nodded, reaching up to catch the tear falling down his freckled cheek. “I believe you,” you whispered to him as he breathed a sigh of relief.
“But I have one question,” you asked, furrowing your brow slightly.
“Yes, of course, anything,” Tommy responded eagerly.
“Who are you?”

I am horrified by how often I see people writing, "Well, we shouldn't take Holocaust into account when talking about Israel-Palestine war." Of course we SHOULD, and that's why:
"October 7 is getting rewritten and certain social media users are an active of the campaign to erase the atrocities.
I was barely awake on October 7th when news of the atrocities that were committed by Hamas began to trinkle in, horror by horror. With sleep still in my eyes, I had hoped it was a nightmare I could erase by burying my face in pillows and returning to slumber, but alas, reality was insistent. Hamas had butchered over 1,200 people, amongst them infants, pregnant women, the handicapped, and the elderly. Even dogs were not spared.
But Hamas didn’t just murder them in cold blood, they had tortured, raped, desecrated their bodies, and took hostages. Their depravity was limitless. And they were so proud of their crimes that they used GoPro cameras to record them, later releasing the sickening spectacles to the public as a form of psychological terror. Add to that the live streams, cell phone recordings, and CCTV camera footage, and you’ll probably have the most documented massacre in history—with a reported 60,000 video clips collected.
I’ve seen some of these videos, including those not circulating quite so widely in public. They will haunt me for the rest of my life—and that falls far short than the 47 minute “film” shown to select journalists and diplomats worldwide, a number of whom broke down and/or fell ill during the screening.
But as shocking as all of this deranged butchery was — which was entirely the intention — what stunned me in the aftermath is the world’s reaction.
Putting aside disputes of land and politics, it was jarring to hear such a blatant reframing of narrative. It started with calling Hamas the “resistance” and justifying the unjustifiable. A number of BLM chapters had put out “heroic” images of Hamas terrorists descending on parachutes. I half-expected them to release action figures of Hamas fighters too. Maybe they did?
And then came the "BUTs." Sure, some folks condemned Hamas, but it was always followed by a "BUT," justifying the unjustifiable. I've been asked, ad nauseam, "What would you do in their situation?" Well, my response remains steadfast: not commit random acts of murder, torture, and kidnapping. Call me old-fashioned. (For the record I’ve called many colorful words for my stance, but oddly that was never one of them).
It was a wake-up call for many, especially those of us in the global Jewish community. Overnight, the illusion of safety shattered, much like the dreams of anyone who's binge-watched a horror series alone at night. But now we were all collectively trapped in that nightmare, and couldn’t wake up no matter how hard with pitched.
The history of the Holocaust is taught in many schools around the world. “Never forget” and “never again” are sentiments that are echoed within that curriculum. Yet, while some might scoff at the persistent advocacy for Holocaust education, insisting that it’s hitting them over the head, a nationwide survey in 2020 reveals that the under-40 crowd seems to have missed the memo. Shockingly, one in ten respondents haven’t even heard of the word “Holocaust,” let alone being aware that as many as 6 million Jews perished in it.
Further, nearly a quarter of those questioned said they believed the Holocaust was a myth, had been exaggerated or that they weren’t sure. Meanwhile in Canada, one in five young people (under 34) either hasn't heard of the Holocaust or isn't sure what it is. And in Britain, one in twenty adults flat-out deny that it ever took place. Ah, the privilege of blissful ignorance.
Tumblr media
Most who underestimate the number of Jews killed in Holocaust have neutral or warm feelings toward Jews.
But it's not just ignorance; there's an entire industry that has been propped up and dedicated to Holocaust denial, complete with books, “movies,” and groups. To make matters worse, alarmingly, fewer Holocaust survivors are around to share their firsthand accounts and counteract the flames of denialism.
Nearly half of the 1000 people surveyed had stated that they’ve seen Holocaust denial or distortion posts on social media or elsewhere online.
I’ve always thought that denials of genocide—such as the Holocaust —were something that happened over time, with history slipping away and being re-written.
However, I never expected to be observing this in real time.
While initially the so-called “resistance” was celebrated by a subset of society, this soon turned into full-fledged denials of Hamas’ actions on Oct 7. Despite overwhelming evidence in the form of videos captured and shared by Hamas themselves and shared on Telegram channels and elsewhere, I would read and hear people claiming that they had only targeted Israeli military. Absurd claims emerged using supposedly ‘leaked’ footage where an Israeli helicopter shoots at Nova music festival goers. That video was viewed over 30 million times on X alone. The video, which was actually originally shared by the IDF on Oct 9, was showing their attacks on specific Gazan targets—certainly NOT indiscriminate bombings of music festival attendees in Israel. (Here’s a great thread that details how this piece of disinformation spread and geolocation information that further confirms that the claim is fake).
I’ve heard countless denials of the rapes of women (and men), despite overwhelming evidence in the form of physical evidence, forensics, and a number of witness testimonies. Women’s rights groups, meanwhile, remained silent—thus offering a vacuum for denialists to fill. Proponents of “me too” also stayed silent. Worse, the University of Alberta Sexual Assault Centre’s director signed an open letter calling Hamas perpetrating “sexual violence” an “unverified accusation.” It took UN Women nearly two months to issue a lukewarm condemnation of the brutal attacks. “We are alarmed by the numerous accounts of gender-based atrocities and sexual violence during those attacks,” they wrote, following a letter writing campaign urging them to speak up. Better late than never though, right?
The roughly 40 dead babies claim was debunked as a lie. At least that’s what people on social media now declare as fact, citing a Haaretz investigation.
“Haaretz investigation EXPOSES all the ISRAELI LIES from October 7th just like I predicated (sic),” reads the post of one particularly large disinformation account.
These claims persisted despite Haaretz directly addressing that post and calling it “blatant lies” and insisting that it “absolutely no basis in Haaretz’s reporting.”
Tumblr media
The denials continued regardless of the fact that a group of 200 forensic pathologists from all over the world had confirmed that babies were indeed murdered and that some babies were found decapitated, though it was unclear whether this was done before or after death. First responders also corroborated that they witnessed beheaded infants. Regardless of decapitation, these were babies, murdered.
The forensic pathologists also confirmed that humans were executed, bound and burned alive. Israeli police have over 1,000 statements related to the attack.
When some of the hostages were released, Hamas supporters claimed that the hostages enjoyed being held by them, that they hardly wanted to leave. That this was like a pleasant vacation for them, that’s all. Like sipping piña coladas by the beach. In fact, they would state that they were more concerned about their safety in Israeli hands. They even concocted stories of love affairs between a hostage who was shot in the leg and a Hamas captor. A sick and twisted take on reality where up is down, cats are dogs, and denial is truth. They dismissed the reality that many of these hostages watched their loved ones get murdered in front of them, and still had relatives being held in captivity. The hostages were also administered Clonazepam by Hamas, a mood-enhancing tranquilizing drug, before handing them over to the Red Cross, so that they would appear “happy.”
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, the Yale Daily News published a correction of an opinion column stating that the “allegations had not been substantiated.”
The denials go on and on, and I can’t help but feel like I’m watching a version of Holocaust denial, except this time it’s happening in real time—not years after the fact. And this time, it has a Wi-Fi connection and a social media account.
The conditions for this were ripe. Moral relativism is why just several weeks ago, Gen Z embraced Bin Laden's 'Letter to America.' It has been building up for years across college campuses, a breeding ground for ideologies that support violent means to achieve political gains.
The perceived power dynamics play a role here too. In the eyes of many, the Israelis are seen as a superpower whereas the Palestinians, and by extension Hamas, are seen as underdogs. In their view, the underdog is always right because it is the victim, and the “power” is the oppressor. So how can the oppressor be a victim?
Israelis, despite the majority of the population being Mizrahi Jews, as well as 20% Arabs (who were also victims on Oct 7), have been framed as “white colonizers,” vs the Palestinians who are seen as “POC” in the context of this conflict. Never mind that Jews, including Ashkenazi Jews, can be traced back to the land through DNA, archaeological evidence, and historical documents.
An overall distrust for media is another factor, which has resulted in individuals taking the word of random influencer accounts as gospel over traditional media outlets. According to Gallup polls, Americans’ trust in media is near a record low. Only 34% of US adults have a “great deal” or “fair amount” of confidence as of 2022. This is a major hindrance to our sensemaking abilities.
And then, of course, there’s cognitive dissonance. When a group identifies so closely with the perpetrator and they commit heinous acts, confronting that fact happens to be uncomfortable. So, in an attempt to reduce that discomfort, they rationalize or deny the evidence. This means that they accept only evidence that supports their existing beliefs, while placing unreasonable demands on the other side.
But none of these factors would have gained as much traction if it weren’t for something that didn’t exist during the Holocaust: social media. This is the engine that helps drives this real-time historical revisionism and denialism. According to 2021 data from Pew Research, over 70% of Americans get their news via social platforms. A Reuters Institute report from 2023 found that 30% of respondents use social media as the main way to get their news.
We have a society that consumes sound-bites of information, both truth and lies (as well as lies based on grains of truth).
Social media algorithms—combined with human nature—tend to amplify outrageous untruths, which spread widely. Corrections, never make it as far as the original lie. They are just a faint hum.
Throughout the Israeli-Gaza war, we’ve seen AI generated images and bots used to paint a specific narrative—for evocative, emotional effect. But technologically sophisticatication isn’t a prerequisite for painting false narratives. Many “influencers” have taken to using existing images or videos and attaching misleading headlines to them—including sharing content that captures events in Syria while presenting it as taking place in Gaza. These networks of influencers have large reach, and can turn even the most blatant lie into a revisionist truth.
Researchers for Freedom House, a non-profit human right advocacy group, found that generally at least 47 governments have used commentators to manipulate online discussions in their favor, either via humans or bots. They’ve also recruited influencers to help spread false and misleading content, and have created fake websites that mimic actual media publications. Then there’s always Russia’s propaganda arm RT, and various other publications like Al Jazeera and Quds who have direct ties to Hamas and/or other Islamic regimes.
All of this has contributed to narrative confusion, and the erasure of unspeakable acts of brutality, and the denial of the facts of October 7, right before our very eyes.
If we cannot even share a common reality, how can have any hope of resolving anything?
“Never again” is happening now."

Psst , The human affect last one where after MC post those spicy pic's, imagine the new of it on Swerve bar's DRAMA and Chaos 😂😂😂 I want to see the reactions
Who's servos- Human effects
Words: 1.1k
Warnings: taking about explicit photos, light smut, hand humping, Drunk robots.
I added a sprinkle of Dratchet in here because I love these old men. So enjoy the boys reactions to the Ambassador's photos.

Next
__________
Swerves Bar is overly loud as mechs argue amongst each other as they try to figure out what bot was shacked up with the Ambassador, everyone looking at the photos as they try and figure out who's servos they are.
"I'm telling you, those are Rodimus' servos for sure!" someone slurred, slamming their drink. "Only he's got servos that colour!"
“Ah no, Animus has the same coloured Servos!”
“Don't look at me im on the Ethics committee, and whoever is involved in this clearing doesn't care about the ethical side of interspecies relations which we have no knowledge on!” Animus argued back the moment his name was mentioned
“What if it's UltraMagnus who painted them so he doesn't get caught!” Aquabat chimed in trying to be part of the conversation.
"As if!" another scoffed. "Ultra stick-up-the-tailpipe would never. My shanix are on Atomizer." Gears states into his drink.
At the counter, Rodimus nursed his engex with a scowl. "Sure as Frag wasn't me,  i'd be boasting about that in person!, plus the servos don't have the detailing I have!" He argued back.
Drift flashed a sly grin. "Oh I don't know, Roddy - they do raise an interesting point. You are the Mech they spend a lot of time with who's captain of the ship, and I believe you'd keep it a secret to spite everyone" the ex con was Overcharged himself, drifting from where Rodimus sat and where Ratchet was sulking over his own drink.
"It has to be one of the senior staff," argued Hound. "They've got the most face time with the Ambassador."
"Don't discount the scientists," Brainstorm countered. "Interspecies collaboration is crucial work." A collection of them look at Brainstorm for a kilk.
Nautica scowled as she passed by. "We all know you have no tack Brainstorm."
Tailgate tugged Rewind's arm anxiously. "Do you think we'll get in trouble for looking? I didn't mean to pry, honest!"
Rewind shook his head. "No, its publicly posted with consent, pretty sure if the Ambassador had issues with it High command would have dealt with it already "
Beside them, Swerve studied the photos intently. "Maybe I should invite the ambassador for drinks. Get to chatting, see if we could get them to spill."
"No harassing them," Rodimus warned, stealing Swerve's datapad. "Now let it go, mechs. Their choices aren't anyone's business but their own."
Skids appeared at Drift's side suddenly. "Can you believe it, Drift?, who do you think it is?" He waved a datapad at the speedster, proudly displaying an image.
Swerve perchs up his field mischievous. "Any guesses on the lucky mech, Drift?, we're Taking bets" He states in singy song tone.
“C’mon Tailgate, don’t be such a prude,” Skids nudged the minibot to look at the photos  as he ducked shyly behind his engex. “Ain’t you curious?”
Swerve flashed a waggle. "C'mon Drift, place your chips! I got hot odds on Roddy, Crossblades, or maybe even that slippery therapist Rung."
Hound elbowed in, visor blinding. "Do they show interface arrays? Wonder how alien bits compare!"
Drifts optics focus in on the holos taking in the Ambassador and the servos, Drift felt his energon run cold as his optics focused unmistakably on the servos in the image. Oh, he knew those battle-worn appendages all too well - how many vorns had he felt their merciless precision upon his mesh, heard their owner growl his name through the throes of overload?
But dear Primus, how had the Ambassador come to possess Ratchet's severed servos? A flash of memory surfaced - hadn't Ratchet left them in medical incase he ever had to use them again. after the massacre at Delphi.
He snuck a surreptitious glance at Ratchet through the chaos, the grumpy Medic seemed to slouch more in his seat while spilling a bright green mixed high grade. A smirk spread Drift's lips. “ don't Bet Swerve” he states. Rising smoothly, making a beeline for Ratchet with the holo in hand.
Ratchet glances up when he sees Drift, had the CMO not been so drained and worried he might have smiled at Drift, but with everything that had happened with Traxies his systems were running full alert. "Well well, look who finally noticed me," Ratchet remarked dryly as Drift slid into the seat beside him, weariness pulling his field taut as ever-tightening screws. "And just what have you got there that's got your relays in a twist?"
Drift took a moment to slowly moving to straddle his conjunx lap, teasing whispering to him as he handed over the holo. "Funny thing - seems our dear Ambassador has found a new use for those old servos of yours, though how, I couldn't say..."  Ratchet whipped his gaze to the image, intake dropping open at the sight of all-too-familiar digits wrapped intimately around supple flesh. His fans stuttered violently.
"The pit...how in Primus's name did they get a hold of my old servos?!" He rasped, snatching the holo to pore over with widening optics. Somewhere in the drunken din, Drift managed to slap a servo over Ratchet's mouth before he made a scene.
Drift leaned close, vents puffing hot against an audial. "Well? Care to make a claim, or shall mystery have them all in a tizzy?" he purred silkily. Ratchet grimaces, field warming ever so slightly beneath its veneer of exhaustion. "None of their business," he grumbled, staring pointedly at Drift.
Drift chuckled, glossa flicking coyly over his dermas. "Aw, don't be like that. You know you're enjoying the thought of having every optic in this bar on you, imagining all the sinful things you'd do”
A rumbling growl escaped Ratchet's intake. "And you'd best mind your tone, or you'll find yourself in need of a medical. Again." But his field betrayed amusement Drift's optics glinted knowingly. "You say that like it's a chore, but we both recall how creative your medical procedures can be...especially with an eager patient beneath those adept servos."
"You're like rust" Ratchet huffs but lets Drift continue, his mind does start to wonder about how soft the Ambassador looks. "Honestly, you're worse than the younglings sometimes, Drift." But his digits had already found their way to rest in the seams of Drift’s hips.
The Ex con nuzzled closer still, voice playful even in his overcharged state. "How you wound me, doctor." His servo crept daringly across Ratchet's plating, tracing patterns. "Just imagine - that soft little frame. The sounds you could coax from those lips..."
A shiver worked its way through Ratchet's struts, betraying his fraying self-control. "You really are determined to get us both in more trouble than we can handle, aren't you?" But his engine revved eagerly all the same. Drift purred contentedly as deft medic's digits found all his sensitive nodes just right. "Mm, you say trouble but I know how you enjoy a challenge, doc."
His field pulsed hot as his imagination, arousal spiking at thought of the Ambassador with them. "Just picture it - that lithe organic frame writhing between us, so curious and willing to learn." Drift continued to grind against Ratchet's servos. "You'll get us both in the brig, get back to my Hub you're overcharged" he huffs out.

so do you actually support ai "art" or is that part of the evil bit :| because um. yikes.
Let me preface this by saying: I think the cutting edge of AI as we know it sucks shit. ChatGPT spews worthless, insipid garbage as a rule, and frequently provides enticingly fluent and thoroughly wrong outputs whenever any objective fact comes into play. Image generators produce over-rendered, uncanny slop that often falls to pieces under the lightest scrutiny. There is little that could convince me to use any AI tool currently on the market, and I am notably more hostile to AI than many people I know in real life in this respect.
That being said, these problems are not inherent to AI. In two years, or a decade, perhaps they will be our equals in producing writing and images. I know a philosopher who is of the belief that one day, AI will simply be better than us - smarter, funnier, more likeable in conversation - I am far from convinced of this myself, but let us hope, if such a case arises, they don't get better at ratfucking and warmongering too.
Many of the inherent problems posed by AI are philosophical in nature. Would a sufficiently advanced AI be appreciably different to a conscious entity? Can their outputs be described as art? These are questions whose mere axioms could themselves be argued over in PhD theses ad infinitum. I am not particularly interested in these, for to be so on top of the myriad demands of my work would either drive me mad or kill me outright. Fortunately, their fractally debatable nature means that no watertight argument could be given to them by you, either, so we may declare ourselves in happy, clueless agreement on these topics so long as you are willing to confront their unconfrontability.
Thus, I would prefer to turn to the current material issues encountered in the creation and use of AI. These, too, are not inherent to their use, but I will provide a more careful treatment of them than a simple supposition that they will evaporate in coming years.
I would consider the principal material issues surrounding AI to lie in the replacement of human labourers and wanton generation of garbage content it facilitates, and the ethics of training it on datasets collected without contributors' consent. In the first case, it is prudent to recall the understanding of Luddites held by Marx - he says, in Ch. 15 of Das Kapital: "It took both time and experience before workers learnt to distinguish between machinery and its employment by capital, and therefore to transfer their attacks from the material instruments of production to the form of society which utilises those instruments." The Industrial Revolution's novel forms of production and subsequent societal consequences has mirrored the majority of advances in production since. As then, the commercial application of the new technology must be understood to be a product of capital. To resist the technology itself on these grounds is to melt an iceberg's tip, treating the vestigial symptom of a vast syndrome. The replacement of labourers is with certainty a pressing issue that warrants action, but such action must be considered and strategic, rather than a reflexive reaction to something new. As is clear in hindsight for the technology of two centuries ago, mere impedance of technological progression is not for the better.
The second case is one I find deeply alarming - the degradation of written content's reliability threatens all knowledge, extending to my field. Already, several scientific papers have drawn outrage in being seen to pass peer review despite blatant inclusion of AI outputs. I would be tempted to, as a joke to myself more than others, begin this response with "Certainly. Here is how you could respond to this question:" so as to mirror these charlatans, would it not without a doubt enrage a great many who don't know better than to fall for such a trick. This issue, however, is one I believe to be ephemeral - so pressing is it, that a response must be formulated by those who value understanding. And so are responses being formulated - major online information sources, such as Wikipedia and its sister projects, have written or are writing rules on their use. The journals will, in time, scramble to save their reputations and dignities, and do so thoroughly - academics have professional standings to lose, so keeping them from using LLMs is as simple as threatening those. Perhaps nothing will be done for your average Google search result - though this is far from certain - but it has always been the conventional wisdom that more than one site ought to be consulted in a search for information.
The third is one I am torn on. My first instinct is to condemn the training of AI on material gathered without consent. However, this becomes more and more problematic with scrutiny. Arguments against this focusing on plagiarism or direct theft are pretty much bunk - statistical models don't really work like that. Personal control of one's data, meanwhile, is a commendable right, but is difficult to ensure without merely extending the argument made by the proponents of copyright, which is widely understood to be a disastrous construct that for the most part harms small artists. In this respect, then, it falls into the larger camp of problems primarily caused by the capital wielding the technology.
Let me finish this by posing a hypothetical. Suppose AI does, as my philosopher friend believes, become smarter and more creative than us in a few years or decades; suppose in addition it may be said through whatever means to be entirely unobjectionable, ethically or otherwise. Under these circumstances, would I then go to a robot to commission art of my fursona? The answer from me is a resounding no. My reasoning is simple - it wouldn't feel right. So long as the robot remains capable of effortlessly and passionlessly producing pictures, it would feel like cheating. Rationally explaining this deserves no effort - my reasoning would be motivated by the conclusion, rather than vice versa. It is simply my personal taste not to get art I don't feel is real. It is vitally important, however, that I not mistake this feeling as evidence of any true inferiority - to suppose that effortlessness or pasionlessness invalidate art is to stray back into the field of messy philosophical questions. I am allowed, as are you, to possess personal tastes separate from the quality of things.
Summary: I don't like AI. However, most of the problems with AI which aren't "it's bad" (likely to be fixed over time) or abstract philosophical questions (too debatable to be used to make a judgement) are material issues caused by capitalism, just as communists have been saying about every similarly disruptive new technology for over a century. Other issues can likely be fixed over time, as with quality. From a non-rational standpoint, I dislike the idea of using AI even separated from current issues, but I recognise, and encourage you to recognise, that this is not evidence of an actual inherent inferiority of AI in the abstract. You are allowed to have preferences that aren't hastily rationalised over.

REACTION IMAGES BLOG PATCH NOTES (aka the 10k follower celebrations got out of hand)
Hey everyone!
So it's been a hot minute since I announced that we passed 10,000 followers on here! I'm sure... well, I'm actually sure that most people won't be TOO fussed either way, but I did say I was gonna do some stuff, and I wanna stick to my word if nothing else xD
So! Let the celebrations begin! Firstly, I'm announcing a new QnA (I love those things) that'll last,,,, I'll say 2 weeks and go from there. Feel free to ask me about whatever you want!! If you want to cater to me specifically, my current big interests are Baldur's Gate 3, Cyberpunk 2077, Mass Effect, and uuuuh Halo. (Also Bionicle remains a constant.) (Lots of scifi videogame stuff at the moment...)
[IK there's still some stuff in the inbox I need to answer/respond to you - I promise I'll get to those as well <3 thank you so much for your patience, if you've been waiting]
Secondly, here's a new song cover! IDK how many of you have played the game Divinity: Original Sin 2, but here's me singing Lohse's song; Sing For Me.
Thirdly: here's a new gimmick blog! I Was Not Joking. (Though, for my sanity, it's gonna be weekly instead of daily.) I'll be posting the images I have saved in my folder called 'feral screenshots' - it'll basically be a collection of cursed images/images with strange auras. I wanna say y'all know the ones, but if you don't, then here's an example of what we're dealing with:
Tumblr media
[Image ID: a person floating in a rubber ring in a swimming pool. On their head is what looks like a life-size Lego head.]
Introduciiiiing the Weekly Weird Images blog!
And Fourthly! It is my great pleasure to announce that we're adding alt text to all the images on this blog! Sorry it took so long to get round to T_T
And yes - I do mean we! To write out all the alt text for these images, I've on-boarded minion-in-chief/court jester aplomb @tizzytinkertilly! I (the reaction images guy) will still be handling every other part of the blog - she'll just be doing that bit. For the sake of my sanity xD
This is kind of a big change - both the addition of alt text, and the fact that this blog is no longer a single-person operation - so for the foreseeable future, the queue's been tweaked so that we only post 2 images a day instead of 4. (Fun fact! 2 images a day was the original MO of this blog, and then covid happened and I was like "I'll make it 4 a day because it'll be a nice thing to do for everyone while they're miserable in this pandemic :)" and then I never stopped (although you could argue that the pandemic never stopped either).) Maybe if/when we fall into a good routine and feel like we can do more, we can bump the rate of images back up, but right now this is a teething phase and I'm keen to slow things down for a little bit. :P (Tumblr has made some WEIRD mechanical choices for group blogs, I'll be honest.)
And, uh, yeah, that's all! Let the QnA begin- Hope y'all enjoy the song cover- Hope y'all enjoy the additional blog- A big welcome to Tinks and to alt text! Happy 10k followers, everybody!

Give or Take - Part 2
[Story Collection] | [Part 1] [●] [Part 3]
Bryce found himself standing in the living room of his apartment, with a mysterious mist covering the floor. He could sense an unusual coldness in the room. Confused, his eyes searched for Mason to ask for an explanation. Usually, the apartment maintained a pleasant temperature, but Bryce suspected that Mason’s preference for coldness could’ve caused the particular situation.
As Bryce took his first step toward Mason’s room, he noticed a strange sensation in his body. He felt a heavy weight dragging him down, making it hard to take a step. Curious, he looked down at his own body, and his jaw dropped to the ground as he realized his pectorals stuck out over a foot in front of him, and he also realized he was fully naked.
Bryce couldn’t see beyond his massive pecs. Instinctively, he reached for his own chest and couldn’t resist squeezing his massive pectorals, sending shivers down his spine. Each squeeze made Bryce feel more alive than ever before, and with a firm squeeze, he felt a jolt surge through his body, and a loud noise echoed through the room, frightening him a bit.
*
Bryce sat up as he woke up from the strangest dream he had ever had. Looking around, he realized he was in bed like every morning. Everything seemed normal, but the dream had felt so real that he could still recall the sensation of the massive pecs in his hand. It had felt so real that part of him wondered if it had been a dream.
Then, the memory of the cloaked man in the alley flooded his mind. The image of a shirtless Mason waiting for him when he arrived home reminded him of the power he had received in the alley. Bryce looked down and was surprised to find his formerly flat chest replaced by actual pecs. He never wore a shirt to bed so he could freely admire his pecs. They weren’t huge, but for someone who had never had pecs, they were the most beautiful sight ever.
“No fucking way! It worked!” Bryce shouted, pulling off the sheets and marveling at the rest of his body. He wasn’t huge, probably not even considered big by any standards, but it was a significant change for him.
He looked at his arms and flexed his biceps, gasping in surprise. For the first time in his life, a small and very subtle peak formed on his arm when he flexed. Though it was tiny, it felt like a victory. Bryce jumped to his feet and immediately removed his sweatpants and underwear to examine his reflection in the mirror. A smile spread across his face as he explored every inch of his body. Adding 12.5 pounds to his 130-pound frame didn’t sound like much, but the reality exceeded his expectations.
Despite his excitement over his gains, Bryce still had to go to work and find more guinea pigs to test his powers. He quickly showered and dressed for his dull office job. His body hadn’t grown that much, but his clothes felt different on his body in a very positive way. His clothes also hid his new size, which was a good thing to avoid others getting suspicious about what he would do to people he knew.
A few minutes later, Bryce was in the kitchen, preparing a quick breakfast for himself, still unable to stop smiling. He was so happy that he couldn’t wait to arrive at his office and have fun with his powers, but first, he wanted to see what the Great Gifter had done to Mason.
“What the HELL!” Mason shouted out so loudly that, even though he was in his room and Bryce was in the kitchen with a wall between them, it sounded like Mason was right next to Bryce.
“Oh, I guess he finally woke up,” Bryce said with a devilish smile as he took a bite of his bread. He heard Mason’s footsteps approaching, and Bryce was excited to see the effects of his powers on Mason’s body.
“Bryce? Please, help me. Something’s terribly wrong. I think I’m having an allergic reaction or something,” Mason said, standing shirtless in front of Bryce. “My entire body has swollen overnight. Please, take me to the hospital.”
“Hmm, what do you mean? I think you look fine,” Bryce responded, trying to contain his laughter in front of a clearly scared Mason.
“Man, are you blind? Look at me! I’m huge,” Mason said, looking down at his body, trying to emphasize his point.
Bryce looked at Mason and couldn’t deny that the 50 extra pounds made a big difference. Going from 190 pounds to 240 pounds on a 6’4” body made Mason look like a superhero from a comic book. His broad shoulders gave him a fantastic frame, especially compared to his narrow waist. It was the most amazing V shape Bryce had ever seen. Mason’s pecs looked full and deep inside Bryce’s mind, he couldn’t help but desire to grab that magnificent chest. Mason’s lower body was just as impressive, stretching his Superman pajama pants to their limit.
Bryce was still upset with his friend for becoming so big, but seeing him completely terrified made it all worthwhile. Also, playing with his mind was an added bonus, especially since no one else would be aware of the transformation.
“Maybe you’re hallucinating. There was no need to brag about your body in front of me. Actually, you should consider gaining more muscle mass? How does 50 extra pounds of muscle sound?” Bryce playfully said as he finished his breakfast.
The world stopped, and just like the night before, Bryce could see Mason’s stats on the text globe beside him. Most of it remained unchanged, except for the weight, which now displayed 240.2 pounds instead of 190.2. Bryce couldn’t help but burst into laughter, imagining Mason’s reaction to 50 more pounds, or even better, 60 extra pounds. Bryce smiled devilishly as the world started moving again, with Mason still in shock.
“Just hurry up and get dressed, or you’ll be late for work,” Bryce said as he passed by Mason’s side, pretending to ignore Mason’s newly added size.
Mason was speechless while Bryce grabbed his backpack and left the apartment immediately. Bryce could barely contain his excitement as he walked out of the building and saw many men walking around the streets, many subjects to test his powers on. However, he was committed to using his powers correctly, except with Mason, who was a very personal project.
As Bryce walked to his job, he thought about his coworkers, and some ideas popped up. Most of the guys who worked with him were almost as thin as him, but he knew none of them minded that much about it. Bryce thought about 30-year-old Gary, who at 5’11” loved to wear snug clothes that only accentuated his lack of muscles; 32-year-old Paxton, who was a bit heavier than Gary, only because he was 6’3” tall, making him look like a bean pole; and 26-year-old Wilson, who was as short and as skinny as Bryce had been the day before. They could use bigger muscles, and Bryce was willing to help them.
As soon as Bryce entered his office, Wilson approached with a worried look and whispered in his ear that their new boss had arrived and that he was a total dick. Gary and Paxton joined them as a tall man entered the room, leaving Bryce speechless.
The newly arrived man’s navy blue suit did nothing to hide his huge muscles. It accentuated them instead. Bryce’s new boss was probably as tall as Mason, or maybe even taller, and seemed to outweigh Mason’s newest body by at least 40 pounds, all muscle. The man was a perfect specimen from head to toe and overly confident because of his looks.
“Good morning, gentlemen. My name’s Vincent Jasperson, and I have been assigned to this office. It’s clear that the higher levels believed a real, capable man was needed to lead this team, and that’s why I am here. It’s clear that none of you met the requirements for this position, so you should consider yourself fortunate to have me as your boss,” Mr. Jasperson said, subtly implying they weren’t good enough.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Jasperson. I’m Bryce and…” Bryce began but was interrupted when Mr. Jasperson raised his index finger, indicating to him to stop.
“Introductions are not necessary. I know all of you very well because I have read your files. However, I must admit that your files fail to explain your lack of… progress in certain departments,” Mr. Jasperson said, looking down at Bryce, which infuriated him. “Nevertheless, you should be happy to know I won’t give those issues much thought. Just follow my orders, and everything will be fine.”
Bryce couldn’t hide the anger on his face, and it was evident that Mr. Jasperson noticed. The new boss subtly flexed his muscles with a smug grin, emphasizing his imposing figure. It was clear that he wanted to intimidate Bryce and the others, so as Mr. Jasperson walked away, Bryce thought about taking some of his size to teach him a lesson and bring balance to his office environment.
Immediately, the room froze, just like the night before, and Bryce could see his boss’ and coworkers’ stats in the strange text globes next to them.
First, Bryce focused on Gary’s information:
“Age: 30 years, 1 month and 13 days Height: 5’11” Weight: 150.6 pounds”
Then, he examined Paxton:
“Age: 32 years, 8 months and 24 days Height: 6’3” Weight: 159.1 pounds”
Then, he paid attention to Wilson:
“Age: 26 years, 9 months and 2 days Height: 5’9” Weight: 134.5 pounds”
And finally, Mr. Jasperson’s:
“Age: 34 years, 4 months and 20 days Height: 6’5” Weight: 280.8 pounds”
In Mr. Jasperson’s stats, there was something that caught Bryce’s attention because he hadn’t noticed a line that read “penis.” He looked at his friends’ stats, and they didn’t have remarkable numbers there, but Mr. Jasperson’s information showed “12.25 inches”. Bryce paid close attention to his boss’ body and noticed he had a really impressive bulge. The man was a freaking monster in all aspects, but Bryce was eager to teach him a lesson.
“Okay, let’s work some magic here. Gary, I can’t give you a lot of size because you won’t have anything to wear tomorrow morning. So, maybe adding 20 pounds of muscles sounds good? And I’ll give you a hand down there, but just not yet,” Bryce said as he stood before Gary for a few seconds.
As he moved from Gary to Paxton, he noted the tall guy wore loosely fitting clothes, and considering his height, Bryce knew he could handle more size.
“My dear Paxton, you’re nearly as tall as Mason, and I’ve already seen how good some muscle mass suits him, so let’s start with a 51-pound increase for you. I bet you’ll love having a 210-pound body. Oh… and I know you have a girlfriend, so let’s grant you 3 extra inches downstairs to make it 9 inches long. She’ll surely appreciate it,” Bryce said as he looked at Paxton’s crotch, feeling intoxicated by power.
He then moved to Wilson, looking closely at him for a while. They had been close to each other since the moment they met because they were the same age and their bodies were nearly identical. Bryce was even surprised to discover that Wilson was 4 pounds heavier than him.
“And you, my dear friend. What should I do with you? We’ve always struggled with being small together, so I don’t want you to remain small, but I don’t want you to get huge. I think starting with an extra 20 pounds would be fine for you. We’ll see how you react to the new size in the morning, and if you want more, I can add more,” Bryce said, patting Wilson’s flat chest.
Then he turned his attention to Mr. Jasperson’s, and just the sight of the tall, perfect-looking man filled Bryce with anger. He started moving around the man, examining every inch of his body, and he hoped to have a better look at him without the suit. Immediately, the suit vanished, revealing Mr. Jasperson’s body in full glory. The man was even more impressed than Bryce could have imagined.
“Damn! You’re freaking perfect. If you weren’t such a dick, I would have some fun getting you even bigger, but you deserve punishment. You don’t deserve this body. But don’t worry. I won’t be too harsh since it’s your first day here. Let’s take just 40 pounds of muscle and 4 inches of cock. Let’s shrink those bull balls too, and… I’ll be a good person and let you keep your height,” Bryce said as Mr. Jasperson’s suit reappeared, and the world started moving again.
It was difficult for Bryce to act like nothing was happening because he was eager to see the results of the changes in his boss’ and coworkers’ bodies. The rest of the day was slow and uneventful, but Bryce couldn’t stop thinking about the next morning. Part of him wished he didn’t have to wait so long, but the wait made the results even better.
**
Bryce could barely contain his excitement by the time he arrived back home. Things got even better when he found Mason already preparing dinner for them. Mason wore a blue T-shirt with Captain America’s shield on the front and gray sweatpants that left nothing to the imagination. His 240-pound body was stretching the material in all the right places, and even though Bryce hated a bigger (and hotter) Mason, he couldn’t deny he was enjoying the view. Also, the fact that Bryce had given Mason another 60 pounds in the morning made things even better.
“Hey buddy, how was your day?” Bryce asked, eager to hear about Mason’s experience with the added weight.
“It was okay. I was late for work because my clothes didn’t fit. I explained this to my boss, but he didn’t understand why I hadn’t gotten new clothes since I’d been growing so much lately. He didn’t believe me this happened overnight. I weighed myself and found out that I gained 50 pounds. Bryce, 50 pounds overnight. That’s impossible,” Mason said, and Bryce tried to contain his laughter.
“Do you still insist that you haven’t been this big for a while? I see you just as big as ever, and your boss is right, you should get new clothes,” Bryce said as he sat in front of the kitchen counter while Mason continued cooking.
“You too? Man… hmm… let’s forget about this,” Mason said. “At least I’m not losing mass, I guess.”
Mason’s words made Bryce remember something about the cloaked man’s words. The image of Mr. Jasperson’s stats and the fact that he had taken 40 pounds of muscle from him, and 4 inches from his dick, made Bryce realize that his own body would shrink as a result. Bryce knew he would gain 25% of the size he gave to others but would lose 125% of the size he took from others.
After doing some quick math, Bryce realized he would weigh 130 pounds by the morning. Also, he had given 3 inches of dick to Paxton, meaning a 0.75 inches gain, but since he took 4 inches of dick from Mr. Jasperson, he would lose 5 inches of dick. The result scared Bryce because his dick would shrink down to only 2 inches.
“FUCK!” Bryce shouted in fear and anger.
“What? What’s wrong?” Mason asked, sounding concerned.
“I-I just forgot about something at work. I’ll have to fix this tomorrow or…” Bryce said as he looked at his roommate and realized Mason could help him fix his issue immediately. He could go out and find another man on the streets, but he had the perfect guinea pig right before him. “Do you remember what I told you earlier about gaining 60 pounds?” Bryce asked a surprised Mason.
“Yeah. I do. That’s crazy. I’d be 300 pounds, way too much muscle. But what does that have to do with your problem?” Mason asked, sounding confused.
“On, no, nothing. I’m just thinking that apart from that, you should gain an additional 50 pounds,” Bryce said, and the world around them stopped.
Mason’s stats popped up next to him again, and they were exactly the same as in the morning, but there was a “+60” next to his weight. Bryce needed to add another 50 pounds to Mason for his own body to stay at 142.5 pounds. Bryce knew he could wait to fix his issue in the morning, but he didn’t care if Mason had trouble with his size as long as he could keep his gains. Bryce didn’t want to lose the 12.5 pounds he had gained, and part of him was eager to see a 350-pound Mason walking around the apartment.
Then, Bryce looked at the line indicating Mason’s cock size and was surprised to see “8.5 inches”. His roommate was already above average in that department. The problem was that to regain the 4.25 inches he would lose, Bryce would have to give Mason 17 extra inches, which was definitely too much.
Bryce didn’t want to give Mason even more size to his already big dick, but he didn’t want to wake up with a 2-inch dick. So, after some consideration, Bryce realized that it would be Mason’s problem to deal with a 25.5-inch cock, without Bryce having to do anything with it.
As the world started moving again, Mason continued talking about how difficult it would be for him to handle 350 pounds of muscle. Bryce could only smile, knowing that the big guy would soon find out how challenging it could be. Bryce had initially been against the idea of making Mason grow because it had been one of the issues that fueled his existential crisis, but it was funnier to mess with Mason’s mind as he grew even bigger.
When Bryce went to bed a while later, he made a mental note to be more careful about shrinking others but couldn’t wait to see Mason’s reaction. He also wanted to see his bigger coworkers and thinner boss. As Bryce drifted off to sleep, the images of many men crossed his mind. He decided to expand the list of men he could have fun with by altering their bodies. He knew he shouldn’t use his powers for fun, but the idea sounded too good to resist.

The show was ending And I had started to crack Woke up in Chicago And the sky turned black You’re so high, you’re so high You had to be an angel And I’m so high, I’m so high I can see an angel
Unbeknownst to the general public, the Avengers (and the SHIELD agents that supported their work) went on hundreds of missions a year. Missions varied in location and purpose - Budapest for an assassination, Manitowoc for reconnaissance, Madripoor for hacking, London for retrieving highly valuable artifacts - but they always contributed to the overall safety of Midgard.
As the Avengers were public figures, they often stuck to relatively short missions, or developed plans so any eagle-eyed observers, whether nefarious or benign, would not notice an extended absence. This was carefully calculated to ensure civilians would not panic about potential threats while ensuring the Avengers had intel to destroy any potential threats before they turned into reality.
As such, missions only made the news when something went horrifically awry.
Nothing about the day had been noteworthy. If anything, it was the epitome of a ‘typical’ day, at least for Loki. His morning consisted of reviewing a series of reports that Heimdall and Valkyrie sent him, detailing the economic impact of certain trade agreements that New Asgard would soon have the opportunity to renegotiate. He sparred with Barnes in the early afternoon, focusing on his dagger technique and sharing tips with the Winter Soldier. Afterward, he joined Dr. Banner in Stark’s lab to assist Banner with research on the physics of Seidr, remaining in the lab until shortly after dinner.
Banner remained in the lab when Loki excused himself, unable to ignore his rumbling stomach. Loki returned to the residential quarters, casually waving at the assortment of Avengers in the living room and receiving a collection of greetings in return as he passed them on the way to the kitchen.
In the midst of assembling a sandwich for a late dinner, the shrill voice of a reporter on the nearby television caught Loki’s attention.
“Breaking News: A bombing just outside Chicago has thrown the city into chaos–”
Chicago—
Thor was in Chicago.
Loki sprinted to the sitting room, abandoning an assortment of condiments and toppings on the counter in his rush to learn if his brother had been amidst those impacted.
He arrived to find Maximoff, Barnes, Wilson, Parker, and Belova glued to the television, eyes wide and mouths hanging slightly agape as rising flames and rubble flashed in front of them.
No one uttered a word; Hel, they barely offered Loki a wayward glance as he collapsed into an empty seat and struggled to ignore the festering unease gnawing at his chest as he too became entranced by the breaking news.
On the screen in front of them, a horrifying scene unfolded: innocent civilians, coated in ash, blood, and debris as they ran for their lives, crying out for loved ones. Individuals draped from head to toe in black firing weapons that did not look like anything the Avengers had seen before, beams of octarine light tearing through solid rock and steel like a hot knife through butter. The shrill wail of sirens clashed with the voice of the television reporter, solemn-faced as they recounted the details.
“—massacre — multiple casualties — suspected terrorist attack —“
Amidst the chaos, glimpses of the Avengers who had been sent into the field did little to quell anyone’s anxiety. Barely recognizable beneath shredded armor and the grit of war, they attempted to evacuate civilians while fighting back against the attackers.
At a brief sighting of a bloody, ragged Thor fighting off an adversary, Loki’s blood turned to ice. Of the many times Loki fought alongside Thor, he rarely, if ever his brother in such a haggard state from fighting, which elicited its own special sort of dread. What if this threat was too much for Thor to survive?
Even after confirmations that the Avengers had prevailed and the attackers were no more, breaking news alerts flashed across the bottom of the screen with headlines that only increased in severity. Emergency rescue crews struggled to control the fires that came from the explosions, dragging unrecognizable bodies from smoke-filled shells of buildings.
With shaking hands, Loki retrieved his mobile device from his pocket and dialed Thor’s telephone number.
“You’ve reached the voicemail—“
The damn thing didn’t even ring before the automated greeting began.
With a growl, Loki ended the call and threw his phone against the sofa cushion.
It was foolish to worry; Thor was a God. He was a warrior. He survived far worse than a simple Midgardian bomb. Of course Thor wouldn’t answer his mobile phone; he was in the middle of being the hero that everyone expected him to be.
And yet, with every minute that passed, with every flame that rose on the television screen, with every new death count, the coil of dread tightened in Loki’s chest.
Loki buried his face in his hands, fighting to steady his breathing.
“I’m sure he’s fine.” Belova attempted to reassure Loki, though her constant glances at her own mobile device, as if checking for a response from the elder widow, did not escape him.
Any other plans for the evening had long been forgotten. Wilson and Barnes monitored government and SHIELD communication channels for updates on agents who were at the scene of the attack. Maximoff searched for additional news coverage on her laptop, while in the background survivors shakily recounted the moment that changed their lives forever. Belova and Parker took to social media to find first-hand accounts and updates from ground-level, announcing anything they found to be noteworthy.
In the midst of everything, Loki exchanged messages with Val and Heimdall. While early messages from Heimdall provided reassurance that he could still track Thor’s presence, that reassurance fell away with time; when Heimdall no longer felt Thor’s presence, the conversation changed to implementing the protocol for ruling in Thor’s unanticipated absence, incapacitation, or, though Loki prayed to the Norns it was not the case, Thor’s death.
Every once in a while, an Avenger appeared on-screen, providing at least some reassurance that perhaps circumstances were not as dire as initially thought. When the cameras focused on an area cordoned off for medical care providers to triage and transport victims, they caught sight of Theo. Though she appeared a bit weathered and her armor had torn in the fighting, Loki recognized the way she directed the staff around her from the many times he visited her while she worked.
Rogers had appeared multiple times, often carrying victims from the rubble and comforting distraught bystanders, appearing equally haggard but still maintaining a steely resolve. Civilian-recorded video of the Vision and Stark lifting up massive sections of concrete to free trapped victims quickly took over social media, subsequently appearing on the news.
At two separate points, a surge of hope stole Loki’s breath away as he thought he saw Thor, only for it to be a civilian. Belova experienced a similar sensation with potential sightings of Romanoff, though she seemed less concerned for the elder widow’s safety.
Nearly four hours after the news of the attack broke, an announcement blared through Avengers Tower, drowning out the doomsday scenario on television: “We need all available medics to report to the hangar immediately; we have a quinjet arriving in t-15 minutes with twelve level-1 trauma patients.”
I hear your heart beating in your chest The world slows ‘til there’s nothing left And skyscrapers look on like great, unblinking giants In those heavy days in June When love became an act of defiance
In the moments leading up to the quinjet’s return, the tension in the hangar could have been cut with a knife.
Through the hangar’s glass and steel door, the darkest of nights loomed. Not even the glow of lights from the city below could dispel the darkness, creating an expanse of endless obsidian sky that Loki recognized from his time in the void.
Inside the hangar, harsh fluorescent lights left nothing to the imagination, their light so bright and jarring against the black sky that Loki’s eyes burned. The stench of motor oil and gasoline filled the air, only amplifying the churning of Loki’s stomach.
Multiple stretchers waited with teams of medics at their command. Someone Loki recognized as one of Theo’s colleagues spoke on the comms with the returning jets and with the infirmary staff, alternating between briefing the medics about the patients they would receive and preparing for the influx of injuries. Despite Loki’s best attempts to glean even the smallest of details that might inform him of his brother’s condition, other conversations and background noise drowned out the doctor’s voice.
The Avengers who had not been sent to Chicago congregated in relatively close proximity, waiting with bated breath for any news of their peers. Banner, who had been in the lab until the announcement of the jet’s return, paced back and forth, glancing between the hangar entrance and the ground. Barnes stood at attention, arms crossed against his chest and fingers tapping against his vibranium bicep impatiently.
Belova leaned against a metal wall, flipping her mobile phone in hand as if it were a dagger. Parker mirrored Belova’s stance, though he placed all of his weight upon one leg, restlessly bouncing the other at a frantic pace until Loki had to look away before he snapped at the spiderling. Maximoff and Wilson distanced themselves from the group, discussing something in hushed voices while glancing back and forth between the group and the hangar’s entrance.
A familiar voice rang out through the hangar’s intercoms, abruptly stopping all conversation. “Agent Romanoff to Air Control, we are five minutes out. Are we cleared to land?”
“Air control to Agent Romanoff,” the reply came through, “Hangar door is opening now.”
The mass of steel and glass which constituted the hangar door groaned as the mechanics which propelled its movement activated. As if weighed down by the heaviness of everyone’s attention, the door slid open at a pace which made a snail seem like an olympian sprinter. The scraping of metal wheels against metal tracks echoed through the hangar.
All the while, everyone remained frozen in place; even Parker refrained from bouncing his leg. No one spoke. If it weren’t for Loki’s location, which placed the majority of the hangar’s occupants in his line of sight, he might think the hangar completely empty.
When the door finished opening, the medics sprang back to life, arranging themselves in preparation for the jet’s imminent arrival.
“Agent Romanoff to Air Control - we are in final descent. T-one minute out.”
A wave of relief collided with a storm of fear at the first glimpse of steel and turbines. Loki’s heart rate careened out of control, the pounding in his ears drowning out all sound. He ran a trembling hand through his hair and tugged at the curls, desperate for news that his brother was alright while dreading the possibility that his brother was among those who needed immediate care.
Though Romanoff landed the aircraft quickly, the exit ramp’s descent was anything but quick. The first teams of medics brought gurneys forward, but upon looking into the rear of the jet, stepped aside to clear a path. For what, Loki didn’t know, nor did he have time to inquire – the steel ramp touched down on the concrete floor, and the hangar roared into a frenzy of organized chaos.
Theo leapt off the side of the ramp to stand beside the medics, ushering another pair of medics carrying a patient on some sort of stiff board down to the first team of medics. Like Theo, the patient could barely be recognized beneath dust, ash, and blood, though their unusually large stature made Loki’s heart stutter and his breath catch in his throat. A glimpse of blond sullied with dust, ash, and blood that matted itself in long locks did nothing to ease the festering dread that had settled into Loki’s stomach.
While the medics transferred the individual onto the gurney, Loki crept closer, only to confirm his worst fear: Thor, unconscious and beaten within an inch of his life, laid before him, his fate at the mercy of mere Midgardians.
No.
“What happened?” Loki rushed forward, pushing through the medics crowding the gurney so he could get a better look at Thor. Some sort of monitoring device flashed numbers upon a screen, while the medics relayed a series of data points that made no sense to the prince and only incensed him further. “What happened to my brother?”
One medic attempted to explain as they whisked Thor out of the hangar, but none of the words registered in Loki’s mind; all he could think about was the looming threat of losing Thor, the only brother he had. They hadn’t even reached the hangar’s exit when the shrill cry of an alarm interrupted and the collection of medics, along with the gurney, jolted to an abrupt stop.
“Dr. Amaris,” one medic shouted back towards the aircraft, “Thor’s coding!”
Not understanding what the medic meant, Loki turned to the monitor for answers.
No, Thor–
All Hel broke loose.
“He’s bleeding out!”
Medics tore the remaining scraps of Thor’s armor off his body, shouting instructions at each other.
“Start compressions!”
“What is happening?” Loki snarled. They ignored him, instead applying pressure to wounds and repeatedly pressing on Thor’s chest as they continued shouting commands among each other. “I demand you tell me what is happening!”
It was as if Loki was not even there; no one even acknowledged his presence. One medic glanced past Loki and towards the aircraft, calling out a series of terms that Allspeak could not translate.
“Please–” Loki pleaded, desperate for any answer he could receive, “This is my brother—”
“Out of my way!”
The command boomed through the hangar, barely reaching Loki’s ears before someone shoved him aside and leapt onto the stretcher. They straddled Thor as if it were second nature,  seamlessly transitioning into pressing on his chest while barking orders at the individuals around them.
Loki stumbled, caught off guard by the strength of the shove - never had a Midgardian managed to move him with such ease. The stretcher raced towards the infirmary before Loki could regain his footing, though he gave chase and quickly caught up to the entourage of medics surrounding his brother while they waited for the elevator. As he arrived, he realized just who happened to shove him aside as if it were child’s play:
Theo.
Black tendrils of smoke surrounded her blue-gloved hands and trailed up her forearms, forming runes that floated just above her skin. She continued to instruct the other medics, her focus razor-sharp as the runes moved down her arms and enveloped Thor.
“What is wrong with my brother?” Loki demanded once more. His frustration at the lack of acknowledgement intertwined with his desperation and fear at the grievous state his brother returned in, fueling Loki’s ire until he teetered dangerously on the edge of explosion.
“Loki, your brother has some pretty serious injuries,” Theo calmly replied, glancing at the monitor as she continued her work. “We’re taking care of it though - I’ll fill you in later, but right now I need to focus on Thor!”
The lack of panic in Theo’s response only further incensed Loki. Did she not care about Thor’s well-being? Did she not realize who it was that needed care? This was no Midgardian - this was Thor. Thor, the King of Asgard. God of Thunder!
And yet, she treated him like any other patient.
“You act like he’s a simple Midgardian!” Loki bellowed, the torrent of fear and anger unleashing itself upon anyone and everyone around him.” You know nothing of how to heal the Aesir— he will die at your hand!”
“Rather than argue, I’m just going to prove you wrong.” Despite her infuriatingly calm tone, Theo leveled a blistering glare at the younger Asgardian. What were previously the whites of Theo’s eyes had turned pitch black, her irises white and her pupils a pale, smoky gray. “He’s not dying at anyone’s hand today - especially not mine. Now, please be quiet and let me do my job.”
Loki froze, stunned. No one had ever had the audacity to speak to him in such a way - and yet, she didn’t even think twice.
Theo didn’t notice Loki’s surprise - she continued to direct the other medics before returning her attention to the God of Thunder. Theo recited an incantation under her breath, causing the runes trailed into Thor’s open mouth and down his throat. Once Theo uttered the final words, a flash of light shot from Theo’s hands and into Thor’s chest.
With a jolt, Thor’s chest shot up and he gasped for air; his chest rose and fell, and the monitor ceased to scream.
Thor’s revival brought Loki no relief, however - the possibility of needing further revival ensured Loki remained just as on-edge, even as they descended upon the elevator, then careened down the halls in a mad dash to the infirmary.
Just before Loki could follow his brother into the Emergency ward, someone restrained him with an iron-clad grip and dragged him back towards the waiting room.
“Unhand me!” Loki roared, whipping around to find Sergeant Barnes had taken hold of him. “I need to be with my brother!”
With a growl, Loki attempted to free himself from Barnes’ grasp, but against the vibranium arm it was useless.
“They don’t have room for you back there.” Barnes’ flat affect, combined with the infuriatingly stoic expression he wore, only served to further flare Loki’s temper. “You’re only going to make it harder for them to work.”
“They know nothing of the care an Aesir requires!” Loki spat his protest at Barnes, who didn’t even flinch.
“I’m pretty sure they do, given Theo just saved your brother’s life.” The Winter Soldier arched one eyebrow at the Asgardian in a subtle challenge. “If you get in their way, a lot of other people might be losing their brother or sister.”
Loki clenched his jaw, scowling as he once again attempted to wrestle himself free from the Sergeant’s inescapable grip.
“I get it.” Barnes continued to stare at Loki with such unwavering intensity that made Loki’s skin crawl. “I lose my shit when Steve gets hurt too.”
“You truly believe your friendship with the captain is remotely close to that of a brother?”  Incensed by the thought of comparing Thor to a simple friend, Loki sneered. “You could never understand.”
“Steve may not be my brother in blood, but he is in every way that matters. Just like you and Thor.” Barnes replied, ice-blue eyes locking onto Loki’s. “When no one else believed in me, Steve did. When everyone was convinced that I was nothing more than a monster, that I was past redemption, Steve still saw the good in me and he fought for me. Everyone else we grew up with, our real families - they’re all dead. The world we knew is a distant memory. Steve is the only person I have left. No one else has been through what we’ve been through; no one else understands what it’s like to suddenly wake up and everything has changed.”
There was a certain vulnerability in Barnes’ eyes that Loki hadn’t ever seen before, and a conviction in his voice that Loki had only heard a handful of times. The combination proved to be enough to disarm Loki’s most barbed retorts, allowing the Sergeant to continue:
“Thor always believed in you and always saw the good in you, even when you didn’t see it yourself. Your entire realm was destroyed, your family is gone, and no one else lived through being Asgardian royalty - Thor is all you have left, and he’s the only one who understands.” Barnes let out a tense breath, still locked into Loki’s gaze as he released Loki from his grasp. “I get it.”
All the while, the stream of medics and stretchers heading into the emergency department remained steady, validating Barnes’ previous argument: there would not be room in the ward for Loki to accompany his brother.
“Theo’s good at what she does. Dr. Cho and Dr. Harper are world-renowned. They will make sure Thor’s just fine.” Barnes slapped a hand on Loki’s shoulder, to which Loki flinched. “Let them do their thing.”
Begrudgingly, Loki nodded and let out a sigh, running one hand through his hair and then tugging on the ends.
“I suppose you are correct.”
“I know I am.” Barnes smirked; the urge to remove the smirk from Barnes’ face struck with such intensity that Loki barely managed to restrain himself. “And Loki?”
“What?” The snippy tone was all too obvious.
“You should probably apologize to Theo for what you said…” When Loki’s response was a sour glare, Barnes steeled himself and locked eyes with the Asgardian yet again, undeterred. “She’s your friend and she saved your brother's life. Even if she wasn’t your friend, that was a shitty thing to say to someone who was helping. Swallow your pride.”
With that, Barnes departed, and left Loki with nothing but his spiraling thoughts as he waited for any scrap of news regarding his brother’s wellbeing.
You were broken hearted And the world was too And I was beginning to lose my grip And I have always held it loosely, But this time I admit I really felt I’d start to slip
The Emergency Department may as well have been ransacked.
Wrappers for medical supplies, towels stained a deep crimson, discarded gloves, and protective gear covered the once-charcoal floor. With such a high volume of patients, they didn’t even have time to properly dispose of their protective gear in a bin, too-focused on putting on fresh gloves and gowns to ensure they could keep up with the relentless stream of victims needing care. Theo lifted up one foot, cringing as the sole of her shoe stuck to the floor from the residue of congealing blood.
She would have to bake the janitorial staff a cake as a thank-you for cleaning up after such a busy day.
Glancing at the clock, Theo let out a heavy sigh.
11:37 PM.
Twenty-nine hours earlier, a deafening crash rang out amidst the skyscrapers of Chicago, and with it the city turned into something from Theo’s worst fears. What was meant to be a simple reconnaissance mission turned into fighting off an attack from insurgents that made Theo’s hair stand on the back of her neck. She didn’t recognize the attackers because of their masks and outfits of all-black, but the artillery they brought with them seemed unnervingly familiar.
The hour that followed was a waking nightmare spent evacuating innocent people while fighting off the mystery attackers. For the three hours after, Theo worked alongside rescue crews to enact mass-casualty protocols, her heart breaking all over again with every black tag she had to assign to a victim. Theo may have been a powerful healer, but it would have been impossible for her to save everyone; instead, she had to conserve her energy for absolute emergencies.
Though she had every intent of remaining on-scene to continue rescue efforts, SHIELD had other ideas. In order to allow all of Chicago’s medical resources to be diverted towards caring for victims of the blast, SHIELD would transport all injured agents back to New York for care at Avengers’ tower, starting with the most severely injured, which meant Theo would be needed at the hospital in New York.
She returned to New York with the first jet, scrambling alongside SHIELD medics to keep the nearly twenty injured agents on the jet alive and stable until they had reinforcements.
From the time Theo landed to when she took in the aftermath, twenty five hours had passed. Multiple jets followed the first, each with more patients who needed a level of care that couldn’t be found in other hospitals. Those twenty five hours passed in a blur of organized chaos: triage, treat, send off to surgery or a ward depending on the injuries, rinse and repeat. Theo barely had time to clean herself up enough that she wouldn’t be considered an infection risk from the ash and dust that had practically become a second skin.
In what both Helen and Julie described as a miracle, all of the patients who hadn’t died before arriving in New York survived. It wasn’t a miracle, though; Theo spent the entire time darting between gurneys, magically treating the worst of the wounds and reviving patients as needed. She had to revive three separate agents, which left her with a bloody nose, a throbbing headache, sore muscles, and more nauseous than she cared to admit - but everyone lived, and that was what mattered.
Of the many patients Theo treated upon landing, one lurked in the back of her mind: Thor.  Physically, the process of re-starting Thor’s heart was taxing, but not as bad as a full revival. Mentally, it was one of the less pleasant moments. However, the memory that lingered was less about reviving Thor and more about Loki’s remark as she worked on Thor that twisted her stomach into knots: “You act like he’s a simple Midgardian! You know nothing of how to heal the Aesir— he will die at your hand!”
The statement could easily be attributed to the heat of the moment, but that didn’t make it sting any less. If it was a field agent that she didn’t know who was freaking out about their partner, that was one thing - she could shake that off, and she had plenty of times before.
But Loki?
Loki knew about her fears and how much losing a patient impacted her, even if she didn’t know the patient before. And to have him question — no, not question, outright doubt — her capabilities?
Well, his words cut far deeper and were much harder to shake.
When the final patient was stabilized and transferred out of the emergency department, Theo was the only doctor who didn’t immediately change out of her scrubs and go home to sleep. Not that she wasn’t looking forward to burying herself under a mountain of blankets and sleeping for the next two days, because she was. But she knew herself well enough to know she wouldn’t be able to rest without checking on Thor first.
Maybe she was after the reassurance that Thor was, in fact, recovering. Maybe she just needed to end the night by coming full-circle, checking on the first patient she took care of. Why she needed to check on him wasn't important; as long as she knew he was alright, that was what mattered.
Theo slipped through the halls of the hospital, making her way to Thor’s room. Unlike the emergency department, which constantly bustled with people coming and going, the halls of the ward were almost eerily quiet. After the bustle and chaos of the last 24 hours, the quiet and relative peace was refreshing.
Other than a nurse sitting at the nurse’s station in Thor’s unit, Theo didn’t run into a single person. That was probably for the best, because Theo could guarantee that she looked like a mess. The nurse offered a tired smile and nod, to which Theo nodded back. The nurse pointedly glanced at an open door a bit further down the hall, then nodded again. Following the nurse’s gaze, Theo realized the nurse had been pointing her to Thor’s room.
Theo gave the nurse another smile and nod, then closed the remaining distance to the open door. She stopped in the entrance and leaned against the doorframe, taking in the sight before her.
The bed had been tilted up at the waist, giving Theo a better view of Thor, who slept peacefully… At least, as peacefully as someone could sleep after nearly dying. Freshly washed golden blonde locks fanned out across his pillow. His skin already regained a somewhat healthy flush - probably something to do with the enhanced healing of the Aesir, but as one of the first patients treated, he had a bit of a head start on the whole recovery thing.
Though he slept, Thor had a visitor who wasn’t Theo. Despite sitting with their back to the door, the perfectly erect posture and inky curls could have only belonged to one person: Loki.
Loki’s presence nearly made Theo turn on her heel and high-tail it out of there. She just stopped in to check on Thor; facing Loki was something she wasn’t sure she could handle at the moment. With how tired she was, Theo didn’t trust herself to avoid saying something that would make an already awkward situation worse. Loki needed someone to support him, not someone to piss him off.
“You need not lurk in the entrance,” Loki spoke up, not even turning around to look at Theo as he addressed her. “If you wish to enter, do so.”
Whether he knew it was Theo or not was a mystery, but he must have at least sensed someone’s presence. Regardless, it wasn’t like she could sneak away anymore.
Pushing away from the doorframe, Theo sighed.
“I didn’t mean to intrude.” She hesitantly stepped into the room, but stayed close to the door. If the conversation went south, she’d at least have a quick out. “I just finished working, so I thought I’d see how Thor was doing…You know, make sure he was still alive and all… Still Aesir, not a midgardian zombie or something.”
Damn her lack of filter.
A breathless puff of laughter escaped Loki, sounding almost surprised. Before Theo could turn and run, Loki twisted in his seat to face her, his narrowed eyes trailing up and down her body. His expression gave away no clues as to whether he was laughing because he found her comment amusing or because he was shocked she had the guts to speak to him like that, or anything to tell her where his mind was at.
“He remains alive and Aesir,” Loki finally replied, offering a tired smirk. “Though you, mortal, look a bit too close to a zombie for comfort.”
Theo rolled her eyes, but cracked a smile. She should have known something like that was coming. Beyond having bags under her bloodshot eyes and the inevitable loss of color in her skin from the revivals, Theo was almost positive her hair resembled a rat’s nest… But that was typical after a normal shift in the emergency department. After 24 hours straight, not to mention coming from a literal battle ground, she could only imagine what she must have looked like.
“We just finished triaging and stabilizing everyone…” Theo shrugged, keeping her smile from Loki’s observation. “It's not for the faint of heart.”
“No, but you are nowhere near faint of heart,” Loki murmured, offering a small, hesitant smile of his own. “For that, I am grateful.”
Theo nodded, uncertain of how to take his remark. She shoved her hands in her pockets, glancing around the rest of the room. Assorted bouquets of flowers and cards stood on display, covering the majority of the room’s surfaces. The whirring and beeping of monitors and machines filled the silence between them.
“Thank you for caring for my brother.” Loki’s attention returned to Thor, who still slept. “I apologize for my remarks earlier - I let my emotions overtake me. It was inappropriate for me to speak to you in such a harsh manner.”
The simple fact that she didn’t have to prompt him for the apology made it seem genuine, but the underlying distrust remained hard for Theo to shake. After all, wasn’t there something about how the things people say in the heat of the moment are what they feel deep down?
“It’s no problem,” Theo bit the inside of her cheek, glancing at Thor before returning her attention to Loki. “Sorry for my less than professional response… I uh, get a bit intense in the heat of the moment.”
“You need not apologize - your reaction was justified.” Loki nodded, still focused on his brother’s face. “I trust you with my life, and I do not doubt in the slightest that you would fight tirelessly to save any life you could…” He faltered, drawing in a sharp breath before letting out a weary sigh. “If I am entirely honest, I am not certain as to why I stated you would not be able to care for Thor, as I know better.”
The knot in Theo’s chest unraveled a bit more.
“I get it,” Theo reassured him, stepping closer so she could rest one hand on his shoulder. “Thor’s your brother. If I were in your position, I’d do the same.”
Loki covered her hand with his own, finally meeting Theo’s gaze. Red rimmed his eyes, making his seaglass green irises stand out even more than usual; combined with his disheveled curls, Theo realized that this was the most distressed that she had ever seen Loki before.
“He’ll be alright,” Theo murmured, squeezing Loki’s shoulder, “And he’s lucky to have a brother who cares as much about him as you do.”
Theo caught the slightest quiver in Loki’s lip and the way his eyes briefly glistened, but she didn’t say anything. Frankly, she didn’t know what she would even say. Blood never scared her, but the second someone she knew started crying her heart hammered in her chest and her palms grew clammy; forget trying to carry a train of thought, much less a conversation.
“Thank you,” Loki whispered, closing his eyes and taking a deep breath. He tightened his grip on Theo’s hand, pressing it more firmly onto his shoulder.
With a quiet sigh, Theo shifted her weight between her aching feet once more. No longer running all over and fueled by adrenaline, the physical toll of going at full speed for so long started to make their presence known.
Still, she didn’t try to remove her hand from Loki’s shoulder. Loki obviously needed the support, and he didn’t seem like he was about to ask for it. Besides, if her silent gesture stopped any potential tears, she could handle the aching feet that came with standing.
“You mentioned that you recently finished stabilizing the other agents…” Loki’s brows drew together as he returned his attention to Theo. “It has been over twenty four hours since they returned. Have you taken any breaks to rest, or to eat?”
“I worked straight through.” Theo shook her head. “We had lives to save. That’s the nature of what we do; it doesn’t wait for anyone’s lunch break to finish.”
Loki replied with a displeased hum and a frown. He removed his hand from Theo’s, the cold air in the room a crisp contrast to the warmth of his skin. With a flick of his wrist, he used some seidr to move one of the  chairs from the other side of the bed to sit beside him. “You ought to take a seat - you’ve certainly earned the opportunity to rest.”
With a timid, grateful smile, Theo sat down. Relaxing her muscles brought instant relief, though the motion reminded her of how much her entire body ached after reviving people.
“How are the other agents?”
“Barring any complications, they’ll be alright,” Theo slouched back in the chair, arms resting on the sides as she settled in. “Recovery times will vary, but the fact we were able to save everyone who made it back to New York is a miracle in and of itself.”
If there were complications, well… Theo lived in the building. They knew where to find her.
“That is excellent news,” Loki remarked, resting his hand atop Theo’s as it sat on the arm of the chair between them. Though Theo did her best not to acknowledge the gesture, it certainly caught her attention. “You seem truly exhausted.”
“When you’re running on adrenaline, it’s easy to go for a long time and feel totally fine,” she shrugged, “but now all the adrenaline is wearing off and I’m definitely feeling the consequences.”
“The consequences?”
“Fatigue, sore muscles, all that good stuff.” Theo softened the remark with a hint of a smile. Loki already had Thor to focus on; he didn’t need to hear Theo complain. “Don’t get me wrong, I’m used to working long stretches - normally my shifts are twelve-plus hours at a time. The only time I work twenty four hour shifts are when I’m on call, and I usually get to nap somewhere in there. But with the number of SHIELD agents impacted and the volume of casualties, we needed all hands on deck.”
“Seems it was quite the undertaking,” Loki murmured.
“Yeah — By the time we were done it looked like a tornado came through and destroyed everything. I can’t imagine what the hospitals in Chicago are dealing with right now.”
Loki arched an eyebrow at her as if asking her to elaborate.
“Up until I had to come back to New York, I was working with rescue crews to implement mass casualty protocols; essentially, we search through the rubble for people, triage to get a sense of how badly they are injured, then assign a colored tag based on how severely they are injured.” Theo let out a tense breath. She looked down at the floor, lowering her voice when she continued: “I’ve never triaged so many patients in such a short period of time, and they still had so much work to do when I left. The hospitals there are probably still drowning with patients, despite all the black tags.”
“… Black tags?”
“Victims who were dead or were about to die, regardless of medical intervention,” Theo quietly explained. “I gave twenty two people black tags today, and not all of them were dead on discovery.” Admitting the truth aloud made Theo want to vomit. “Making that call never gets easier.”
If anything, it only got harder to make that call.
With an absentminded hum, Loki nodded. He brought his attention back to Thor, who slept soundly. “Will you have time to rest and recuperate before your next shift?”
“I’m supposed to have the next two days off,” Theo answered with a halfhearted shrug, the black tags still lurking in her mind. “but if I’m needed I’ll be in to help.”
Loki frowned, narrowing his eyes at Theo.
“What?”
“You spend all your time caring for others,” Loki observed, “Yet caring for yourself seems to be an afterthought.”
“I appreciate the concern, but I’ll be fine.” Theo rolled her eyes, but forced a half-smile. “I just need a nap and I’ll be good to go.”
It wasn’t entirely true. If Theo didn’t need to use any more magic, she’d technically be fine, despite a headache and some queasiness that would probably last for a few days. For the moment, though, the explanation would suffice.
Besides, aleve and pepto bismol were available on Earth, so she could always resort to pharmacological solutions to keep her going.
Though he responded with a skeptical glance, Loki didn’t push the subject. His hand remained atop Theo’s, but he slipped his fingers between hers and squeezed.
“What about you?” Theo glanced up at Loki. “I’m guessing you haven’t left that chair since you were allowed to see him?”
“Guilty as charged, I suppose.” Loki’s head wobbled slightly from side to side, but he didn’t look at Theo.
“There’s nothing to feel guilty about.” Theo squeezed his hand back, holding it tight for just a moment longer. “He’s your brother - it’s normal to want to be here.”
“I suppose it depends on who you ask,” Loki muttered, letting go of Theo to scrub his face with both hands. “There are those—“
“The only person whose opinion matters is you.” Theo gently interrupted, ducking her head to lock eyes with Loki. “At the end of the day, it’s your brother—“
“That is not how one operates when responsible for a nation and its people.” The interruption was sharp, almost irascible. As if to emphasize his irritation, he dropped his arms to rest on the sides of the chair and threw his head back towards the ceiling. “One’s personal desires are of negligible importance in the grand scheme of the realms.”
Oh, he did not just go there.
Theo bit down on the inside of her cheek so hard that the sharp tang of iron filled her mouth, and it was all she could do so she wouldn’t say something she would later regret.
In Loki’s defense, he had no idea why that remark would rub her the wrong way, and he was obviously stressed.
“Just because you are a ruler does not mean you have to sacrifice your emotions,” Theo quietly challenged, wringing her hands in her lap. “There are many who would argue that feeling and acknowledging those emotions makes you a better leader.”
Loki fell silent, worrying his lower lip between his teeth. The tendons along his clenched jaw shifted as if trying not to unleash a flurry of barbed words on Theo. If Theo was lucky, Loki was simply working through how he wanted to reply, but the slight narrowing of his eyes as he kept his attention facing ahead did little to reassure Theo that he wasn’t about to verbally eviscerate her.
After a prolonged pause, he let out a tense breath and ran one hand through his hair. He leaned forward in his seat, taking hold of Thor’s hand.
“From previous experience, sentiment has only led to suffering.” The concession was hushed, barely audible amongst the background noise.
“And yet, you still care. That’s worth something.” Theo pointed out, attention trained on Loki. “From experience, it only hurts worse if you try to ignore it.”
He pointedly avoided her gaze, instead focusing on Thor’s hand, the tan skin contrasting against his own. He brushed a thumb against the back of Thor’s hand, a delicate gesture in contrast to his hardened expression.
As silence stretched between them once more, questions of whether Theo pushed too hard swirled in her mind. Who was she, after all, to make him confront such a sore subject? Sure, it started with an attempt to reassure him, but it went south embarrassingly fast.
Theo really needed to learn when to shut the hell up.
This time, it was too late to shut up, so that led to a new series of questions: would it be awkward if she left? Or was it more awkward if she stayed?
Theo brought her attention to her sneakers, noticing the scuffs along the once crisp white soles. Flexing her toes back and forth, she watched how the scuffs bent with each movement of her foot. The longer she watched, the more meditative the motions felt, allowing her mind to fall somewhat quiet.
“Forgive me. I should not have snapped at you.” Loki broke the silence, startling Theo so she jumped in her seat and jerked her head towards Loki. He regarded her with a sheepish curl on one side of his lips, somewhere between apologetic and amused.
A sharp throb between Theo’s temples, the consequence of moving so quickly, forced a wince from her. She grimaced, massaging her temples in a feeble attempt to lessen the discomfort.
“Sorry,” Theo countered, her voice straining ever-so-slightly with each pulse against her skull. “I shouldn’t have pushed you.”
“Ah, I beg to differ.” Loki chuckled, almost to himself. The smile that had initially started as sheepish curled up further, taking on a glint of something else that Theo couldn’t quite describe. “If left unchallenged, who knows what chaos might ensue.”
Despite the headache, Theo managed a weak chuckle and nodded. The movement left her oddly unsteady; she closed her eyes and waited for the sensation to pass.
Lightly calloused fingers curled around Theo’s wrists, gently tugging her hands away from her head. Theo opened her eyes to find the smile had fallen from Loki’s face, replaced instead by a furrowed brow and a frown. “You’ve a headache?”
“Yeah,” Theo admitted, before quickly adding: “It’s not that bad though. I have stuff for it, I just need to take it.”
Loki released Theo’s wrists; Theo found herself missing the warmth. “Though I will admit it is nice to have company, you really ought to take some medicine for your head and rest.”
He was right, but it also felt wrong to leave him alone.
Theo sighed. “You should get some rest too, you know.”
“I doubt I could sleep, even if I were to lay down.” Loki shook his head. “If Thor were to need anything and I wasn’t there, I–”
“It’s alright, you don’t need to justify it to me.” Theo cut him off, though not unkindly. She rose to her feet, pausing to blink away the static that clouded her vision from the head rush that followed. “Text me if you need anything, okay? Even if it’s at a weird time.”
To Theo’s surprise, Loki also stood; he closed the distance between her and embraced her, clutching her to his chest. She didn’t have to think twice before wrapping her arms around him, returning the gesture.
“Thank you,” Loki whispered, his breath warm against the top of Theo’s head.
“Of course,” Theo replied, her voice muffled by his chest. She inhaled and caught the familiar scent of his cologne - warm, spicy, woodsy - and smiled. That smile stayed when they both finally pulled away, hands brushing as they lowered their arms; a nervous chuckle slipped out of Loki, and if Theo didn’t know any better she would have thought his cheeks grew pink.
“Good night, Theo.”  Loki lingered for a moment, gazing at Theo with a shy smile.
“Good night, Loki.”
The halls of the hospital were emptier than a ghost town as Theo made the trip back to her suite; the chill of the filtered air clung to Theo’s skin, even through her clothes. Theo shivered, her muscles aching with each tremor of her limbs. She folded her arms across her chest and tried to ignore it, but she wasn’t warm like Loki, so it did little to ward off the cold.
When she finally got back to her suite and climbed into bed, the space beside her felt especially empty. But after such a long day, the observation was fleeting; she barely closed her eyes before she was already drifting to sleep.
Choirs sang in the street And I would come to you To watch the television screen In your hotel room I’m always down to hide with you
Though years had passed since Loki made Midgard his home, there were elements he had not grown accustomed to… Chief among them were Midgardian healing methods.
Ever since Thor returned to him bruised and bloodied, Loki found himself thinking back to Eir and missing the Soul Forges of Asgard. Asgardian healing was without a doubt far superior to anything the Midgardians could muster. The longer Loki stared at the tubes and wires attached to his brother’s body, the more he considered the possibility that it might have been for the best if he had conquered Midgard all those years ago, if for no other reason than it would have resulted in Soul Forges on Midgard.
Sure, Thor had made considerable progress while infirmed; if the doctors were to be believed, Thor’s injuries were healing nicely.
That didn’t mean Loki had to like seeing his brother in an infirmary bed for days on end. On the contrary: the sight grated him like none other. Sitting in a stiff, metal-framed chair day in and day out, only able to offer meager comforts to his brother, was its own kind of Hel.
And to see Thor - Thor, who was always the stronger brother, the protector, the warrior - to see him reduced to being weak as a kitten?
The more Loki considered the reality of the situation, the more his blood boiled.
However, each time his temper neared a breaking point - when he was about to snarl at the slightest inconvenience, Theo just happened to appear. She always claimed she was simply ‘dropping by to see how the patient was doing,’ but the knowing glance shared between the nurses whenever she arrived told Loki there was more to the story.
Regardless, she was there, and her mere presence stilled the constant storms brewing in his soul.
Sometimes she calmed the tempest by answering Loki’s burning questions - why certain treatments were more effective than others, the purpose of various tests, what the results of those tests meant. It was not that the doctors in charge of Thor’s care withheld information; they were quite forthcoming with Loki and seemed more than willing to answer his questions. Loki recognized they truly put forth their best efforts to assuage his concerns, and though it was not always effective he appreciated the effort. However, for whatever reason Theo’s answers contained some unknown element that put Loki at ease, even if they were almost identical to the answers from Thor’s doctors.
Other times, she offered a distraction from the discord brewing within. On the days when she visited after concluding her work in the infirmary, the distraction typically came in the form of a film or television show. Though the shows and films varied in genre and premise, there were elements in common: they all involved some element of comedy and varying degrees of mischief. Whenever she suggested something to watch, Theo always took time to explain what it was about the selection that she thought the brothers would enjoy, though it did not escape Loki’s observation that there were always details which she felt Loki specifically would enjoy.
Thankfully, the end of the nightmare was near. Though not fully recovered, Thor had been cleared for discharge that afternoon - his condition no longer required care from the infirmary, so there was no reason for him to remain.
While Thor changed out of his pajamas and into comfortable clothes, Loki busied himself collecting the various gifts and belongings that had accumulated throughout his brothers’ stay.
“It was quite kind of Lady Theo to visit so often.”
Loki glanced over at his brother. Thor sat on the edge of the bed, watching his brother with a twinkle in his eye.
“Yes, I suppose so.”
“Yet, I suspect her visits were not solely to check on my progress.” The comment was lighthearted, jesting in its delivery.
“There is a Midgardian saying about assumptions, brother.” Loki flatly replied, turning back to continue packing so Thor would not see the heat rising on Loki’s cheeks. “I would not dare to presume her intentions.”
“I am not assuming anything, dear brother. Simply pondering…” Loki did not need to look to know Thor wore a smug grin.
“Pondering, are you?” Loki turned back to his brother with a smirk of his own. “Are you certain you are well? You aren’t one to spend much time thinking.”
Thor laughed, tossing a pillow at Loki. Loki smacked it down to the floor, his own laughter echoing in the room. The sound of Thor’s laughter loosened the knot that had tangled itself around Loki’s chest for far too long.
“Well I’ve not had much else to do as of late,” Thor chuckled, “as I’m sure you are aware.”
“Well, thank the Norns you will no longer be cooped up in this room—” Loki’s laughter quieted, though a smile remained. “— If for no other reason than you shan’t be forced to think; that is a benefit to us all.”
“Ah, you’ve wounded me!” Thor clasped one hand to his heart, feigning hurt despite the grin that lit up his face.
Loki’s teasing seemed to be enough to deter further conversation on the matter, at least for the moment. With perfect timing, a nurse came by with the paperwork Thor needed to sign, and after a few signatures the pair were finally free to leave.
Just when the elevator closed, Thor turned to his brother with a pensive smile. “Jesting aside, I am glad you have someone like Lady Theo in your life.”
“Thor–”
“It is obvious that she truly cares for you.” Thor rested his hand on Loki’s shoulder and locked eyes with his brother. “Knowing there is another who will be there for you whenever you need gives me great peace. She is a good friend to you.”
A faint smile crept up on Loki’s face, and he nodded slightly. “She is.”
Not long after ensuring Thor was settled in his quarters, Loki returned to his own quarters,  content to spend some time basking in the peace and quiet with his latest selection of literature...
…At least, he had been content to bask in the peace and quiet until a knock on his door threatened the solitude he’d long been craving.
Internally groaning, Loki set aside his book and pulled himself to his feet. Despite the overwhelming desire to ignore whoever dared to disturb him, Loki dragged himself to the door, rolling his eyes before twisting the knob and pushing it open.
The sight of Theo, a slim glass bottle with amber liquid in one hand and two lowball glasses in the other, wiped the scowl right off Loki’s face.
“Is this a bad time?” Theo asked, the smile on her face dissolving when she caught Loki’s expression.
“There is never a bad time for you, darling.” Loki stepped aside and gestured for her to enter.
“Good, because I am not about to drink this whole bottle myself.” Theo sauntered in, plopped down on the sofa, and poured two glasses of what smelled like whiskey. “Figured you’d want to celebrate having Thor home.”
Warmth bloomed in Loki’s chest. He took a seat next to Theo, retrieving one of the glasses and clinking it with hers. “I most certainly am not sad about the development.”
“I can tell.” Theo leaned back, taking a sip of her beverage. “You look way less stressed.”
“Is that so?”
“Well yeah,” she said, “but it’s understandable that you were stressed. I mean, now that he’s doing better, I will admit your brother did get pretty fucked up. But still, I wasn’t worried about him...”
“…You were worried about me?” Loki ventured, unable to stop himself from smirking at Theo.
She blushed. “I mean…“
Loki couldn’t stop himself from chuckling at the sight of Theo, attempting to hide the pink of her cheeks behind her glass. “So you weren’t visiting to check on Thor.”
“No…” She shook her head and let out a sheepish laugh. “Thor already had plenty of people checking on him, but you needed someone in your corner too.” Theo fiddled with the glass in her hands, her attention focused on the amber liquid swirling around inside. “I didn’t like the thought of you trying to deal with all that on your own.”
When Theo finally looked at Loki, he saw something new in her bright blue eyes.
“I am grateful for your support.” He slid over until the sides of their legs pressed together, then wrapped an arm around her shoulders. “Though I must apologize for forcing you to spend the little free time you had fretting over me.”
“You didn’t force me to do anything.” Theo fiercely shook her head. “I wanted to be there.”
And whether or not he was ready to admit it out loud, he could at least admit to himself that he wanted her there, too.
Hold onto each other Hold onto each other Hold onto each other Hold onto each other…

[240601] Yujin - bis Magazine Website update [bis, July 2024]
--What is your role/responsibility within the group?
It's a little different from being a mood maker, but I think my role as a leader is to improve the atmosphere of the group. For example, when I say hello to a group, I always try to use a bright and cheerful voice, regardless of my condition. By doing so, the members will also have a cheerful voice!
--Who is your role model?
I respect my seniors from Girls' Generation. I think it's cool that they've been active for so long and are able to express all sorts of concepts, and Girls' Generation seniors are exactly what I'm looking for in terms of beauty.
--Please tell me what you like about yourself.
The lines look beautiful when dancing. Please check out my Fancams!
--What kind of fashion do you like?
I collect a variety of headgear, and I like adding beanies and headbands to simple fashion accents. I like both casual and neat styles, but overall I like well-fitting clothes that highlight the lines of my body. I usually wear skinny jeans, leggings, and sleeveless clothes in the summer.
--What's your latest boom?
I like watching travel VLOGs. While watching the videos, I can feel like I’m traveling myself, and I like imagining, "If I were to travel, I’d go here next!". Recently, I’ve been watching travel VLOGs from Thailand. I would like to go to places with beautiful beaches such as Thailand, Hawaii, Okinawa, and Guam. Come to think of it, lately I've been watching a lot of VLOGS that feature the sea, so I guess I like the sea, though I didn't realize it myself (lol).
--What kind of person are you in your private life?
I like people, I'm positive and cheerful, and although I may look weak on the outside, I'm surprisingly strong (lol). Recently, I have been addicted to going to the gym and recently managed to lift 60 kg!
--On the other hand, what kind of person are you in work mode? What kind of person do you want to be?
I want to be an artist that Kep1ian is proud of. I've said since my debut that I'd like to show you how I'm always growing, and I want to be an artist who never stops and always takes on new challenges and continues to grow.
--Tell me about your favorite hairstyle you've ever had!
The long half-up look was highly praised by the members, and the fans also said it looked chic, so I'd like to do more of it in the future. I haven't changed my hair color too much until now, and people say it doesn't suit my image, but I'd like to try blonde or pink hair someday.
--Please tell us the cute things about the members that only you know!
Yeseo is small and cute overall. Perhaps because she's the youngest, she acts cute and acts like a baby. Dayeon accepts my pranks and her reactions are so cute.

"I don't have anything against new members on the team. But you brought a girl on, Barney. I'm not going to be a babysitter." Christmas exclaimed.
You knew you weren't overly welcome among the guys. It wasn't your idea to tag along anyway, it was your job, as per Church's orders.
But when you overheard the guys complain to Barney about you being on the team, just because you were a woman, it made your heart sink and your blood boil.
You wanted to leave and go punch something but your curiosity got the better of you and you stayed to see what Barney would say.
"Look, I agreed to bring her on for this mission, she's my responsibility. Not yours-- or yours" he said as he pointed from Christmas to Yang.
"I'll take care of it" he added before he stormed out, leaving Christmas and Yang staring at each other.
---
You can only image he went off to speak to Church, but it seems it didn't work since you were now neck deep in crap with bullets whizzing past your head like crazy.
The guys were right there with you, pinned down, taking cover behind shipping containers to your left and right. You chuckled internally at the predicament and shot a look at Barney, wondering if he had an idea how to proceed.
You locked eyes and saw no reaction. That's when you reached into the side pockets of your Kevlar vest and fished out a smoke grenade from each of them.
Looking to Barney again, you mouth smoke?, to which he nods. You toss one his way, and one to your left, to Christmas. You yelled "smoke" and threw the grenade as hard as you could, noticing the guys following your lead. As the smoke spread, it created the perfect cover for the team to advance and take the bad guys over.
---
Later, at the bar as you grabbed a beer, Barney was the first one to speak.
"Y/N, I believe we owe you an apology" gesturing to the rest of the team.
"We doubted your skills and in the end you saved our asses. What I'm trying to say is..thank you." he offered with a sincere smile. The guys raised their beers in your direction, nodded and collectively exclaimed "To Y/N!!".
