Moon 162-Leaf-fall

Apparently spending so much time around the kits has grown on Featherspeck (18), because she has announced that she is expecting kits.  Huh.  Wonder who the other parent is.  Chervilcry (141) finds comfort in spending time with the kits.  They remind her of when she was in the nursery with Chasingskip, Sandypaw, and Newtkit.  How she misses them!  She play fights with Brightkit (4) and tries to boost Daisykit’s (3) confidence.  Frostheart (65) and Wormdart (18) continue to clash.  Wormdart scolds her for not using her powers to pin down a bird she missed the other day, and she snaps at him that not everyone is as powerful as he and his sisters.  Wildcave (45) has been feeling a little salty towards Gladepatch (38), since it is basically the Healer’s fault that Wildcave was demoted from deputy.  But after Gladepatch helps him heal, he realizes that he was too harsh in his judgment of him.  Creekstar (16) makes sure to spend a lot of time with Primkit (4).  She understands what it’s like to have such deadly power at her claws and wants to make sure that the young cat understands it but does not fear herself.  It’s not such a bad thing to be dark-cursed.  Rabbitfur (18) loves having a full nursery.  It means that she has a great audience to her preach about morals.  The kits are not as thrilled.  Rustsong (31) and Amethystdapple (89) love having her around-her lectures are a sure way to get the kits to fall asleep!  The Clan also welcomes several new cats: a powerless former kittypet with redcough named Toriel (99) and a powerless abandoned kit named Palekit (2).  Creekstar decides to keep both of them around.  She’s been judged for having powers, so she doesn’t want to judge others for their powers or lack of them.

Softwing and Heavysteo are the parents to Burnetdrop, Newtkit, Serpentsnap and Oakgleam/star.

Burnetdrop was from their first unexpected litter. The two were still pretty young warriors when they had him and then later down the road they had Newtkit, Serpentsnap and Oakgleam/star.

While they were still kits a cold and harsh leaf are made prey scarce and the clans went hungry. Newtkit and Heavytooth(who had been just made deputy) died from starvation. Softwing later died from the fire.

Softwing was a determined and loyal warrior of Shadeclan. She very much cared for family and will do anything for them. She always thought of Heavytooth as a goodball and even though he was eccentric he was still a good cat and to never changed. She wasn’t expecting to get pregnant right away but welcomed Burnetkit with a big heart just as she did with Newtkit, Oakkit and Serpentkit.

Heavytooth was an eccentric and strange cat who acted odd which earned looks from the clan. Though they never teased him they welcomed his quirks and let him do things his way so he could learn and work efficiently. He is almost a big dork and always willing to make others laugh. Which is how he earned his deputy title. He had died of starvation and froze to death when he had been out trying to find prey for the clan. At the same time his daughter Newtkit had died as well and they watched over the clan until Softwing joined them after the fire.

Burnetdrop is a grumpy and responsible cat who is also the mediator of the clan. He trains Fernpaw and was trained by his mentor Crimsonsnarl. Burnetdrop knew of what he was meant to do at such a young age and that was be a mediator. Being able to speak and keep the peace between the clans was something he wanted to do and he had a talent for it. As he got older, however, he started to see how cruel the other clans could be and started to lose his spark for being a mediator and just before he could ask for a change in paths Crimsonsnarl was killed by a fox who had surprised attacked him. Burnetdrop then had no choice but to stay as the mediator since he was the only one.

Newtkit was a spunky and strange little kit just like Heavytooth. She loved playing with lizards and watching them that she felt she was like them. She had always wanted to be a medicine cat and always bothered Pebbleheart and Mothpaw in wanting to learn herbs and read prophecies. She later died due to Starvation.

Serpentsnap is a laid back but responsible cat is pretty kind to everyone but those who would hurt the cats he cares about. His mate is Ebonyfreeze. His apprentice is Jaypaw and the two are quite close. Also he does have kits with Ebonyfreeze their first daughter ends up being born paralyzed in her hind legs and unlike the warriors books she actually got to be a warrior.

Oakgleam/star is a well respected and loyal deputy of Shadeclan. His apprentice is Shadowpaw who they share a close bond. Oakgleam is the youngest and always has his oldest brothers worried for him but he worked hard and earned his deputy title when he took charge during the fire and helped many cats get out alive. After the previous deputy, Smokedapple, died he was named deputy where he works hard and keeps his clan safe.

Next up will be Silkstar and her family then maybe the leaders and information about the clans and all that.

Also, unrelated to the dark song conversation, but I fucking ADORED Rainstar's nine lives ceremony, and it inspired me to write down what Vinestar's nine lives were!

Awww Newtkit..that makes me want to explore his early years. Do you have an idea? cause at the top of my head I imagine Newtkit got sick and was sick for some moons. Vinepaw (only a couple moons or even just one moon older and therefor an apprentice) chose to train as a medicine cat because they wanted to save their friend, and when they couldn't, they thought of themselves as a failure. Pumpkintail encouraged them and told them that they just weren't meant to be a medicine cat (not in relation to 'not being able to save Newt'--that would have more been Pumpkintail's responsibility, but because Vinepaw was clearly meant for the life of a warrior and he shouldn't live a life of misery in an attempt to overcome guilt and grief that would never actually leave him). Maybe this is also why Pumpkin is important enough to appear at his ceremony

Clearing out my FireAlpaca files for CSP Part 3, Section 1!

This is just all the cat/Warriors art I've done, will be a second part in a moment as only 30 images are allowed per post 👌

First up, everything from 2022:

Being a UTMV fan, a while back I started designing Sans AUs as cats 💀 (This is meant to be Killer by the way) There were two counterparts to this drawing, but for some reason they got deleted??? Man. Anyways-

I'd say I was prolly one of the first 500-1000 people playing Clangen, since I played it before there was any publicity. These doodles were for one of my first Clans, CicadaClan, and how I interpreted the relationship between two toms, Newtwater and Halffur! Story ramble below.

Basically, Newtkit seemingly really hated Halfpaw for some reason (relationship tabs didn't exist, just through interactions), but eventually that hatred died down into a reckless/self-sacrificing type of personality, and Newtpaw got attacked by an eagle twice for Halffur. Eventually I was wondering when they'd finally become mates, until it seemed that Curlleaf, the deputy and who was implied to be Halffur's mentor, started getting really antagonistic towards Newtwater. After a few moons, Newtwater and Halffur were growing apart because of Curlleaf's intervention, and the deputy seemed to be regretting doing this. Out of the blue, Halffur brings a kit home while simultaneously getting scarred by a rogue, his daughter Vinekit. This rekindles Newtwater and Halffur's relationship, as Newtwater acted as a sort of surrogate father to help Halffur. Just as it seemed that these two were finally going to become mates, Halffur sadly suddenly dies from sickness, leaving Vinepaw and Newtwater behind to mourn.

I also remember that later on, Newtwater became deputy after Curlleaf died, and something that broke my heart was the one of Vine's kits, I think her name was Moth, was asking a lot of questions about grandpa Halffur 😭 Additionally, I stopped playing before Newtwater died, so he still lives on, permanently without his other half 😔

Anyways 2023 time!!

This is Treestar (left) and Sunshine (right)! I'm p sure this was the first Clan I made after the -putting it bluntly- the gender update! These two were really good friends, and I just thought it was really cute they were along with both realizing they're trans after meeting the other. Da gorls ❤️

Another one of my UTMV as Warriors shitposts, I just was really grossed out about the fact that in the current series a whole adult was trying to court his teenage cousin (n yes I was mimicking Moonkitti's style in this), and Tidestar is meant to be Oceantale Sans by the way

Next bundle of 2023 drawings is about 12 drawings or so, so next section in a mome(nt),,,,,,

Moon 93-Leaf-bare

Despite the Clans’ best efforts, Newtkit (5) couldn’t recover from the eagle's attack.  She died from the claw-wound.  Chervilcry (72) and Stonefreckle (76) mourn the loss of their kit, and the Clan mourns the loss of the first kit in Clan history.  It’s hard on them, going into leaf-bare.  And on the new Healer apprentice.  Graypaw (6) has been apprenticed to Rosemaryquake and the first thing he saw was a kit wasting away in front of him.  Flurrypaw (6) has been apprenticed to Judaschaser (114).  Yuccastar (73) might not like the other star-blessed cat much, but she is the only warrior qualified to train a water-blessed cat.  Chervilcry and Stonefreckle are taking comfort in visiting with their surviving kits.  Chervilcry loves how Chasingkit (5) is always checking in on her, and Stonefreckle loves joking with Sandykit (5).  While on patrol, the Clan finds an adorable little kit named Moorkit (5) and brings her back to camp.  Apparently, she used to belong to another Clan, but that Clan had too many kits in leaf-bare so they abandoned her.  She has a decently strong wind-blessing and is almost old enough to be apprenticed.

hi!! i just finished reading cold bloodlines and am curious to hear more!! answer as many or as little of my questions as you'd like; no pressure!

how did you come up with this story? how has it developed and changed since its inception?

what does the future hold for lizardstrike, dampfang, newtkit/mistkit, &/or pineshade?

do you have any scenes that were scrapped? little fun bits or plotlines you couldn't fit in?

how did you think of the old shadowclan traditions?

any fun bits of trivia you have about the characters?

(For anyone reading this who hasn't read or finished my Warriors fanfiction Cold Bloodlines, this answer contains various SPOILERS for the entire fic.)

how did you come up with this story?

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the very first idea that inspired this story centered on Frostmask and Paledusk's relationship. Basically, I wanted the main antagonist to be the main character's father, who was toxic and manipulative, and the story would end with the main character realizing the truth of his nature and defeating him.

Other key ideas I had from the beginning included Swoopstrike as Frost's mentor, and their improving relationship up until his ultimate death. The Autumn/Frost romance and the family they have together was also in the plans from the get-go to act as a parallel/foil to Frostmask's relationship with Paledusk. (Comparing their healthy and supportive love to Paledusk's conditional and manipulative "love.")

The other really central idea I had starting out was just that I wanted this story to ultimately be about finding a home/community/family.

how has it developed and changed since its inception?

Oof a lot lol. While the core of the story I mentioned above remained intact, so many more ideas grew out of it. For example, characters like Pepper and Salt didn't exist in my very first outline, and other characters like Pineshade had much more minor roles.

Initially, I'd conceived of this fic as being a much shorter story, but I definitely got swept away by these characters, their web of relationships, and all the side plots that built up to the main one. That's how this fic that I'd thought would be less than 100k words turned into a 450k word trilogy.

what does the future hold for lizardstrike, dampfang, newtkit/mistkit, &/or pineshade?

(Note that while these are my thoughts, I don't necessarily consider them "canon" since they aren't written in the fic. So you are more than free to imagine something different if you prefer!)

Lizardstrike has a long and happy life as a warrior, eventually becoming mates with his long-time friend Cedarfur :)

In the days after Dampfang leaves ShadowClan, he is pretty beat-up, which leaves him very injured in the unclaimed land in the space between ShadowClan territory and Highstones. Some kind loners/rogues that live in a barn in the area stumble upon him and pity on him. Despite his hostilities to them, he is too weak to resist their assistance, and their charity ultimately saves his life.

Afterward, Dampfang attempts to live on his own for a bit, but he finds it difficult both for practical reasons and because he'd spent his entire life living with other cats and is lonely. He ends up living with the small loner group. His experience as a rogue/with these rogues forces him to develop some empathy for them, and he slowly lets go of his hatred.

After he goes through this growth, him rejoining ShadowClan at some point down the line isn't completely out of the question, although I doubt it would happen while Sedgestar was still leader.

Newtkit and Mistkit's warrior names are Newtspots and Mistpool, but I honestly don't have a ton of thoughts at this moment about their futures specifically.

Pineshade and Murmurstep do officially become mates, and when Sedgestar loses his last life a few years after the end of the fic, Pineshade becomes Pinestar. Pinestar asks Frostmask if she will be her deputy, and after having spent several years as a normal warrior, Frostmask is ready to take on that responsibility again and support her friend, so she accepts. They make a very good team leading ShadowClan for many more years, but when Frostmask passes, it is ultimately Dawnstar (the leader of ShadowClan when SkyClan is exiled from the forest. She is not born by the time the fic ends) who becomes deputy and succeeds Pinestar.

do you have any scenes that were scrapped? little fun bits or plotlines you couldn't fit in?

Hmm there were several little things that I ended up scrapping, but the thing that is immediately coming to mind is the prophecy/vision given to Clearstream at the very start of the fic.

"I was walking through an unfamiliar forest covered in snow. I could not hear or scent any other cat," Clearstream said. "Suddenly, a large, white owl swooped over my head. I could tell it was hunting, and I was frightened for a moment since I was alone, and it could easily decide I was prey. But then I heard a voice speak 'ShadowClan does not need to fear the snow,’ and suddenly my pelt was warmed. All our clan-mates were clustered around me. We were keeping each other warm and safe, and the owl flew away."

Originally, that was going to be a bigger deal about Frostmask and her role in aiding ShadowClan by defeating Paledusk. The wording of the prophecy used to be more obviously about an individual cat (Frostmask,) saying 'ShadowClan does not need to fear the snow. From the cold, great strength soars.'

But when I decided that I wanted to keep StarClan's involvement in this story to a minimum, the vision became a much more minor plot point that was mostly about ShadowClan supporting each other through this difficult time, with only some vague hints about StarClan approving of ShadowClan accepting Frostmask ("ShadowClan does not need to fear the snow [aka: the frost]".) And, a bit of foreshadowing about Paledusk's threat. (At different points throughout the story, Paledusk is compared in the narration to a white owl, like the owl hunting Clearstream in the vision.)

Ultimately, I'm glad that I ended up changing this since like I said, I wanted very little StarClan shenanigans in this story. But, I also didn't want Cold Bloodline's premise to feel too much like Firestar's, with the outsider joining a Clan, along with a prophecy that they will end up saving it.

how did you think of the old shadowclan traditions?

As I mentioned above, it was important to me that ShadowClan felt like a rich, living, tight-knit community, so that's what first prompted me to try to think of more traditions to do that.

The traditions I came up with mostly came from me just trying to dig a little deeper into aspects of Clan culture which already exist in canon. For example, the Clans love having ceremonies about everything, so why shouldn't there be a more structured death ceremony/funeral, rather than simply just a vigil? I also thought a lot about the ShadowClan stereotypes, like being stealthy and independent, and tried to think of traditions that reflected those values. That's how I came up with things like the apprentice's night-time assessment, which is kept a secret from the young cats of the Clan so that it's a genuine surprise/test for them.

any fun bits of trivia you have about the characters?

Bingo, the kittypet who helps Frostmask navigate the twoleg-place, is a tribute to my childhood cat Bingo! The real Bingo was the most patient cat I've ever met in my life. He'd act grumpy, swishing his tail, while my siblings and I as very little kids pet/bothered him, but he never bit or scratched us. I tried to reflect his personality in the fic, with him seeming at times a bit grumpy and reluctant, but still being kind and immensely helpful for Frostmask.
