favourite musicians: oh god, so many. jacob collier (aka the most infuriatingly talented musician alive, he's only like 24, he’s won 2 grammies, he got recognition from quincy jones and now they're friends ?? and he’s currently working on a 4 part album of about 40 songs; volume 1 was released around christmas and he’s planning to release the last one by the end of this year... anyway he’s unbelievable and I love him), julia jacklin, glass animals, billie marten, hozier, tom misch, joy crookes, ELIZA, vulfpeck, nick mulvey, hope tala, jade bird, rusty clanton (fun fact, I actually bumped into him after his support set for jade bird and he was SO lovely). also dodie has been a fave of mine since I was like 14 and she probably always will be tbh. girl is just the sun ☀️

amount of sleep: I have insomniaaa, like my boy gansey so I only get like 4-6 hours a night. I just always get a sudden boost of chaotic creative energy in the evenings and my brain is like !!! make something !! write something !! draw something !! anything!! do it all !! maybe I should start building a miniature version of my town too lol 

lucky number: hmm my birthday is 13th dec (same day as ts) so I like to think that the number makes an exception from being unlucky for people who are born on the 13th

what you’re wearing: leggings, my fav shorts (they’re so cool, they're like a kind of mossy green tie-dye with some funky black patterns stamped onto them. 10/10 makes me feel like a forest elf) and a yellow crop top vest thing. also a couple of rings and some necklaces that I wear basically every day. also socks that have confetti patterns on them. party socks

dream job: anything creative!! writing, art, music, whatever tbh. in an ideal life I would love to be a musician because the idea of going on a tour with other musician friends just sounds like such a dream to me and I love making music stuff (I actually posted a cover on here if you wanna listen) ALSO lowkey want to open a cafe w/ my sister one day; have events in the evenings, homemade cakes, get our musical friends to do gigs? mayhaps a resident cat??? yes pls

dream trip: I applied for an exchange with my uni to study in norway next year, which would be amazing (and terrifying) if I got accepted !!

instrument: I played the violin (very very badly) for about 2 years, and the oboe (for about a year until my teacher moved away - turns out there aren't a whole lot of oboe teachers out there) and I had piano lessons when I was a kid for about 7 years, but i can't remember how to properly read the music now:( I can still play piano but I mostly just figure out how to play songs by listening to them a lot. I prefer playing guitar and ukulele though, they're the ones that I picked up myself so I feel a lot more committed to them 

languages: english is my only fluent language, bc our education system doesn’t bother to teach languages as well as other countries do (am I bitter about it? absolutely), but I can just about get by in french and spanish, and I've been slowly teaching myself norwegian on duolingo for about 5 months now (honestly bless that app)

favourite songs: again, so many. my current faves: mice by billie marten (her new ep is so crushingly gorgeous), guiltless by dodie (the music video?? the music video????), here comes the sun by jacob collier & dodie (god this cover is endlessly, endlessly beautiful?? the drum and guitar strums at 0.58 just GET👏ME👏GOING👏), she is the sum by poppy ajudha, in your hands by nick mulvey (has some BIG gangsey in trk vibes), moon river by jacob collier (this literally came out the other day and ohhohooo boy !! the harmonies that kick in at 5.19 give me mad goosebumps)

random fact: when I was 16 I had appendicitis and nearly died bc I thought the pains were just rlly bad cramps lmao (is this ?? #toomuch? 😬✨??) ANYWAY now i don't have an appendix BUT I do have three funky lil scars and a rlly big appreciation for the nhs (the uk is shit at most things but free healthcare is truly a godsend)

aesthetic: witchy, kinda feral lol, artsy, anything nature related, anything autumnal?? I love that dark academia, secret history kind of aesthetic but I can’t really pull it off bc my style is a bit too hectic - basically just think blue sargent but softer and probs more gay lmao 🤠👌

★ Could Salman Khan's 'Tubelight' Be The Next 'Baahubali'?

After SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali: The Conclusion amassed an estimated 860 crore ($129.2 million) in its first week worldwide to rank as the biggest Indian release of all time globally, Indian cinema looks set to welcome another blockbuster in Tubelight.

The Arka MediaWorks production starring Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Nasser and Sathyraj has beaten the previous all-time champ PK, director Rajkumar Hirani's 2014 sci-fi comedy starring Aamir Khan, which grossed 792 crore ($119 million).

Chennai-based analyst Ramesh Bala estimates the 7-day totals as 545 crore ($81.9 million) net and 695 crore ($104.4 million) gross in India and 165 crore ($24.8 million) internationally

The teaser trailer for the Kabir Khan-directed war drama Tubelight, which stars Salman Khan, his brother Sohail Khan and Chinese actress Zhu Zhu, was released on Thursday, clocking more than 3.2 million views on YouTube.

Launching worldwide on June 23 to cash in on the Eid vacation in India, the Salman Khan Films production budgeted at a reported 100 crore ($15 million) is already well into profit. The Indian distribution rights were acquired by NH Studioz for 132 crore ($19.8 million), a Chinese distributor paid 75 crore ($11.2 million) for the rights to that market and Sony Music forked out 20 crore ($3 million) for the music rights, according to numerous reports in Indian media.

Yash Raj Films secured the overseas distribution rights excluding the Middle East and North Africa. Thanks partly to Zhu Zhu, the film will have the widest release ever for an Indian title in China, potentially a very lucrative market. Kabir Khan has said Salman will tour various cities in China to support the release.

Bollywood Hungama predicts, “The film will have a massive opening as this is Salman's next film post Sultan . Salman Khan fans would have waited for a year and they will throng the cinema halls in India as well as abroad. The first three days will be huge.

“After a month of fasting the devout Salman Khan fans will flood the theaters. With inflated ticket pricing and a record number of screens, the sky is the limit.”

Set during the Sino-Indian war of 1962, the film follows Salman as Laxman, a soldier whom the trailer portrays as a slow-witted man-child, perhaps in the vein of Forrest Gump. While plot details are sketchy it seems his character embarks on a search for his brother played by Sohail as well as falling in love with a Chinese woman.

There is a cameo from Shah Rukh Khan and the supporting cast includes Matin Rey Tangu, the late Om Puri and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub. The title evidently refers to the belief of Salman’s character that faith is like a tubelight: it takes time to light up but when it does, it illuminates everything around it.

So there is every chance the film will continue the successful collaboration between Kabir and Salman following their blockbusters Ek Tha Tiger, which grossed 320 crore ($48.1 million) globally and Bajrangi Bhaijaan, which made 626 crore ($94 million).

Giá USD tăng thời gian qua nhưng áp lực tỉ giá chủ yếu đến từ các yếu tố bên ngoài.

Phiên giao dịch 13-8, giá USD trong các ngân hàng (NH) tăng trở lại sau khi hạ nhiệt vào cuối tuần, được giao dịch phổ biến ở mức 23.270 đồng/USD mua vào, 23.350 đồng/USD bán ra. Từ đầu năm tới nay, tỉ giá USD/VNĐ đã tăng khoảng 2,5%-2,6% ở các NH thương mại lẫn trên thị trường tự do.

Ôtô rục rịch tăng giá

Một số doanh nghiệp (DN) bắt đầu lo tỉ giá ảnh hưởng đến chi phí đầu vào cho hàng hóa, nguyên phụ liệu nhập khẩu từ nước ngoài tính bằng USD.

Trong ngành ôtô, một số DN đã tính đến chuyện tăng giá bán xe nếu giá USD cứ tiếp tục nhích lên. Theo tính toán của giới nhập xe, mỗi USD cứ tăng thêm 500 đồng thì một chiếc ôtô 10.000 USD sẽ phải tốn thêm từ 8-9 triệu đồng. Như thế, có những mẫu xe nhập sẽ bị đội giá thêm đến vài chục triệu đồng hoặc cả trăm triệu đồng với những mẫu xe sang. Không riêng nhà nhập khẩu, các DN sản xuất, lắp ráp ôtô cũng "than trời" trước biến động của tỉ giá bởi hầu hết linh kiện lắp ráp ôtô đều phải nhập và sử dụng USD để thanh toán.

Ông Nguyễn Thế Hùng, Giám đốc Công ty CP Thương mại KYLIN-GX668 (Hải Phòng), nhận định với các mẫu xe được đặt hàng từ 3 tháng trước, khả năng lớn là DN sẽ buộc phải chịu thua thiệt và không tăng giá. Nguyên nhân là bởi đã có công bố và cam kết về giá với khách hàng. Tuy nhiên, các mẫu xe đặt hàng sau thời điểm đó, khả năng giá bán sẽ cao hơn.

"Thủ tục kiểm tra, đăng kiểm theo lô cùng nhiều chi phí khác đã quá lớn. Nay lại thêm sức nóng tỉ giá sẽ bồi thêm áp lực cho DN" – ông Hùng chia sẻ và cho biết thêm hiện ông phải chuyển hướng tạm thời kinh doanh xe cũ để giảm bớt áp lực này.

Ông Lê Ngọc Đức, Giám đốc Công ty Ôtô Hyundai Thành Công, nhận định giá USD tăng khiến không chỉ ôtô mà các ngành sản xuất phụ thuộc nguyên liệu nhập khẩu cũng bị ảnh hưởng. Do đó, tất cả mặt hàng đều buộc phải tăng giá. Nếu tính theo đúng nguyên tắc đầu vào tăng – đầu ra tăng, giá xe của Hyundai Thành Công ít nhất phải tăng 3% hoặc nhiều hơn.

"Tuy nhiên, chúng tôi cũng cân nhắc thời điểm bởi tăng thì ảnh hưởng đến chỉ số giá tiêu dùng (CPI). DN ý thức được trách nhiệm trong bối cảnh Chính phủ cần kiểm soát CPI nên chưa tăng giá, còn nếu thả nổi theo thị trường thì giá xe đã tăng lâu rồi. DN gắng gượng bởi kỳ vọng Chính phủ sẽ có những động thái điều tiết bình ổn tỉ giá" – ông Đức bày tỏ.

Đại diện Công ty TNHH MTV Dầu khí TP HCM (Saigon Petro) nhìn nhận giá ngoại tệ tăng là một trong những khó khăn của DN nhập khẩu. Thời gian qua, để tránh tác động của tỉ giá, Saigon Petro mua gần như 100% xăng, dầu trong nước từ 2 nhà máy lọc dầu Dung Quất và Nghi Sơn. Chỉ một lượng nhỏ dầu diesel buộc phải nhập từ Singapore, Malaysia để tái xuất.

Trong khi đó, các hãng hàng không liệt kê một loạt chi phí từ thiết bị liên quan đến máy bay, hệ thống, nhiên liệu, các dịch vụ tại sân bay nước ngoài, lương trả cho phi công nước ngoài… đều tính bằng USD. Do đó, giá USD tăng cao đẩy chi phí đầu vào của DN tăng theo. Gần đây, giá dầu lại tăng đáng kể cũng ảnh hưởng đến chi phí hoạt động của các hãng.

Với DN dệt may xuất khẩu, diễn biến tỉ giá gây sức ép ít hơn bởi đầu vào và đầu ra đều được thanh toán bằng USD. "Nhập nguyên phụ liệu để sản xuất rồi xuất đi bằng USD thì giá sẽ cân bằng. Tất nhiên, sẽ phải thông qua khâu đàm phán lại giá" – ông Nguyễn Xuân Dương, Chủ tịch HĐQT Tổng Công ty CP May Hưng Yên, chia sẻ.

Không quá lo về tỉ giá đến cuối năm

Trong khi nhiều DN nói họ đang chịu áp lực lớn về tỉ giá thì các chuyên gia kinh tế lại cho rằng DN không cần quá lo lắng. Giáo sư Andreas Hauskrecht, Trường ĐH Indiana Mỹ, thành viên Nhóm sáng kiến Việt Nam, nhận xét tỉ giá USD/VNĐ không phải là điều đáng lo ngại đối với Việt Nam. Bởi tỉ giá trung tâm USD/VNĐ do NH Nhà nước quy định từ đầu năm đến nay chỉ tăng ở mức 1,2%-1,4% là rất nhỏ và không ảnh hưởng nhiều đến biến động hàng hóa trên thị trường (do các NH thương mại được phép giao dịch USD với biên độ +/-3% so với tỉ giá trung tâm – PV).

Bên cạnh đó, Việt Nam đang có nguồn lực dự trữ ngoại hối lớn nhất từ trước đến nay, hoàn toàn có đủ sức can thiệp để bình ổn thị trường. Thậm chí, thời gian qua tiền đồng còn lên giá chứ không phải giảm và NH Nhà nước đã mua vào USD để tránh VNĐ mạnh lên.

Chuyên gia kinh tế – TS Cấn Văn Lực cũng phân tích một trong những khả năng là NH Nhà nước sẽ cho phép tỉ giá linh hoạt hơn, nhằm giảm bớt áp lực giữa VNĐ với USD và đồng nhân dân tệ của Trung Quốc. Thực tế, những ngày qua, tỉ giá trong NH và trên thị trường tự do có lúc giảm sâu, có ngày lại kịch trần biên độ. Đây là điều bình thường vì thị trường có tâm lý kỳ vọng và yếu tố này thường tác động đáng kể lên tỉ giá. "Trong bối cảnh này, nếu tỉ giá được điều chỉnh ở mức 2%-3% là chấp nhận được, trừ những biến cố lớn trên thị trường" – TS Cấn Văn Lực nói.

Du lịch chưa ảnh hưởng

Theo bà Huỳnh Phan Phương Hoàng, Phó Tổng Giám đốc Công ty Du lịch Vietravel, những đối tác nước ngoài cung cấp dịch vụ cho tour ngoại thường ký hợp đồng từ trước, nên trước mắt DN chưa bị tác động mạnh bởi giá USD. Đến hết năm nay, giá tour nước ngoài sẽ không có nhiều biến động nhưng trong bối cảnh tỉ giá và giá xăng dầu đều tăng có thể ảnh hưởng đến giá vé máy bay thì nhiều khả năng giá tour sẽ tăng nhẹ vào năm sau.

One of our favorite bands, Barb Wire Dolls consistently delivered sought after sets at Vans Warped Tour this summer. It was 2015, the first time we saw Barb Wire Dolls perform at the DNA Lounge in San Francisco and they left quite an impression on us. We were emphatically hooked on their high-intense adrenaline raising sets and there has been no slowing down for them since then. With successful residencies at The Whiskey in Hollywood and sold out shows, it was no surprise that they would embark on Vans Warped Tour this past summer.

We knew they were going to be one of the most favored bands on the tour, and they definitely proved it. From city to city, their crowds would increase in size as everyone talked about their shows. They graced the lists of Top Bands on Warped Tour to See and we were so glad to see others with their high praise of this well deserving band.

They arrive at Shoreline in Mountain View.

In Mountain View, we had the opportunity to interview Isis and talk about touring and what is next. We will be bringing that interview to you later this week. We then were front and center for their set on the Skullcandy stage. From the first song to the last, we were captivated by the performance. It was punk rock at its finest and a revolution was ignited in the hearts of the fans.

Neighborhood House assists low-income, recent immigrant and other vulnerable people living in the greater Portland area. Our programs serve disadvantaged children needing help to be successful in school, families facing hunger and homelessness, and seniors needing support so they can remain living active and independent lives.

Position Summary

Responsible for managing the overall operations of the Peninsula Children’s Learning Center (PCLC) at Neighborhood House. Ensures compliance with all licensing and Head Start Performance Standards.  Responsible for staff management, scheduling, hiring, enrollment, family relationships and center events.  Ensure a caring and safe learning environment with top quality activities and curriculum for children, 6 weeks to 5 years. Cherish diversity and engage effectively with children, parents, families and staff representing diverse backgrounds, languages and values. Collaborate effectively with community and agency partners. Exhibit strong fiscal management and staff supervision skills.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Lead a collaborative strategic assessment, planning and growth process to align the newly merged PCLC with other NH programming.

Administer the operations of the Peninsula Childhood Learning Center by ensuring the quality of all activities and instruction.

Oversee all contractual compliance and operate the center in accordance with Child Care Division licensing regulations, QRIS/Spark!, Public Health, and other governing agencies at all times.

Responsible for the implementation of age appropriate curriculum, subject matter and developmental activities for all children served. Understands and can articulate and instruct others in the use of a variety of early childhood education pedagogies.

Responsible to provide leadership, planning, implementation and compliance with performance standards of Neighborhood House Head Start in designated pre-school classrooms and OCDC Early Head Start infant, toddler and junior rooms.

Hire, supervise, train, coach, mentor, evaluate and discipline assigned employees; ensure that staff provide prompt, courteous and a high quality service to internal and external customers.

Maintain own professional development plan and promote both mandatory and elective professional development opportunities for PCLC staff.

Lead the PCLC team in promoting diversity, inclusion, equity and cultural agility and work in collaboration with NH to implement goals these as continual improvement practices at PCLC.

Assist in the development of the PCLC annual budget.  Monitor and control expenditures and present course corrections and budget modifications as necessary and provide fiscal reports to agency, funder and advisory committees as required.

Deepen parent engagement at PCLC by establishing a welcoming environment for parents and recruit parents and grandparents as volunteers. In addition, provide center tours to prospective families and discuss enrollment procedures, fees and policies of PCLC with families.

Confer with appropriate NH coordinators to ensure that appropriate nutrition, health, family services and other related services meet the needs of children and families being served.

Collaborate with Early Childhood Director, Parenting Program Manager and Head Start Supervisors and OCDC for program planning.

Engage in innovative program planning by the following:

Assist in performing the periodic community assessment and strategic plan.

Assist in development of yearly calendars and annual staff training plan.

Participate in the annual self-assessment process, including development of an assessment form, findings report and improvement plan.

Collaborate with the Development department to produce effective marketing materials and     methods to increase visibility and enrollment of PCLC.

Provide effective record-keeping and reporting by the following:

Submit monthly reports by the 10th of each month with previous month data on enrollment,      health and family services, monitoring updates, staff issues/concerns, trainings, meetings attended, etc

Submit quarterly report on the 10th of the month after each quarter to include center progress on goals, major accomplishments, monitoring activities, trainings, and enrollment and budget statistics

Provide reports as requested by funders, Early Childhood Director or NH Associate Director.

      16. Actively participate in NH Allstaff and PCLC trainings and pertinent Head Start meetings/trainings.

Nonessential Duties and Responsibilities:

Accept new assignments at the discretion of the Associate Director.

Serve on agency-wide committees.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Graduation from an accredited four year college or university with a degree in early childhood education, child and human development or a closely related field and a minimum of 5 years of mid-management and strong supervisory experience over an early childhood function/program is required.  Step 10 or higher on the Oregon Registry is also required, OR;

MA/MS degree plus 3 years management experience and 3 years supervisory experience. Step 10 or higher on the Oregon Registry is also required

Supervisory Responsibilities

The Center Director is responsible for the overall tone and success of staff management for the child care center, but maintains direct supervision of the PCLC management team.

Qualifications

Enrollment in the Child Care Division Criminal History Registry and willing to obtain the following within the first 90 days of employment:

First Aid and Infant CPR certification

Food Handlers Card

Child Abuse Reporting and Prevention training

A Step 8 or higher on the Oregon Registry (AA in Early Childhood Education or higher preferred)

Computer ability to keep online child portfolios and assessments (TS GOLD)

Ability to sit, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs

Ability to quickly move around a classroom or playground

Ability to physically move, lift, or control children in unsafe or emergency situations

Ability to read, write, and understand verbal and written English

Ability to maintain educational/training hours as outlined by state licensing agency and center

AT RISK:  This position has been determined to be at risk for bloodborne pathogen exposure.  In addition to the standard hazard communication training, this employee is required to take annual bloodborne pathogen and personal protective equipment training prior to working.
