I want to formally begin this dream entry by apologizing to you. Err, dream you. Not sure which you tbh, just, sorry. In my pettiest, I can see myself doing this but I'm also not that woman anymore and... Yeah, sorry. I can't recall too many details, but I do know that you were infuriated by me by the end of it. This is a fever dream, one that came to me as a result of a tea and spicy pork bulgogi gone wrong in my gut. (I'm actually still recovering from this).

The setting was that you, Chan, Nini and Kyung were practicing for your upcoming performance. It's slated to be your first one back since your enlistment, so you were all meticulously practicing every chance you could get. Myself and some other girl dancers were also there, watching your choreographer point out mistakes and corrections. I admit that I did feel a bit worried about the performance because honey, you were not doing well. You and Chan were missing the mark, the count, the steps. I think I saw one of you accidentally step on the other. Kyung and Nini were being very patient with you but the sweat on their faces and their heavy breathing and concerned looks spelled otherwise. I think the combination of the heat - fuck if I know why you guys were rehearsing outside at my high school's football field - the mistakes, the anxiety from the company's issues, the show nerves, and the yelling was overwhelming you. Not that you'd lash out from it, of course, but I could sense how close you were to losing your anchor that was keeping you afloat. The one telling you that you do want this, you do want to continue being an artist and performer, and that 1.5 years offstage wasn't career suicide. Here's the part where I'm a wank. Myself and the other dancers were casually following along, playfully mouthing off the lyrics but we also were doing the moves correctly. At one point, the choreographer exasperatedly turned to me and told me, "go and show them the right steps yeah? Cause this isn't working." His outburst was also an "are you seeing this?!" moment as he waved his hand at you and Chan's nth mistake and I nodded cautiously and went, "yeah, that's not how the step goes at all guys." I think you must have seen red. I turned to face away from you guys and started to show the step you were messing up on, pairing with the other girl I was chatting with to show you guys where your footing and placements were off. I don't know who started it, but a little banter and teasing came out and she turned and said, "oh don't you have another group to go watch next Friday?" I smirked and joked along, "Yeah, I do actually. Much better dancers, they're also younger too so that helps. Their rapper? Fire. You wouldn't know he was only supposed to rap. No mistakes ever when dancing, NOR when he's rapping his flows."

I felt you explode internally with rage and jealousy.

I suppose my dream version's idea was to make you jealous enough to where you'd prove me wrong. Such a toxic thing to think and do. Especially since I was also attacking all of you for having gotten older too. The flush from the rage turned you red and your jaw locked, it also prompted me to wake up in a state of confusion. Why dream me did that, I'll just never fully get. What a bitch.

(This is just based 100% off the lil bit about Nini that @windupnamazu​ put in her entry from last year [x] pls go read it’s very cute and I think about it all the time.)

Despite the boy’s best efforts it was clear that something was bothering Luneth. 

Ever since his arrival Ninira had been sure that something wasn’t right. For one, he’d quietly handed over his homework with no comment or stories about how his little sisters had tried to help him. Usually Ninira was graced with a recounting of how they had tried to help him draw his diagrams, or tried to dress up his carbuncle. Instead he’d simply gone to sit at the kotatsu by the window of Ninira’s study—their usual spot as nothing helped fend off the chill of the Firmament like being snuggled under a blanket warmed by fire crystals—and started to work on the reading Ninira had laid out for him.

Perhaps even more incriminating, Ninira thought, as she studied him over the top of the homework she was supposed to be reviewing, was the fact that his mug of cocoa sat untouched beside him.

“Luneth.” She put down the papers, the boy gave a start and Ninira frowned with concern. “Is something wrong?” 

His ears drooped, as he hunched his shoulders in a half shrug, avoiding her gaze entirely. 

“Does it have to do with your lessons? If there is anything you’re struggling with you know you just need to ask, I’m here to help you.” This had never been a problem previously, however they had recently moved onto a new more advanced subject. Ninira could understand if suddenly he felt lost, and foolish for not feeling like he was keeping up.

Luneth gave her another half hearted shrug. 

“If it’s something else… well you don’t have to tell me anything you’re not comfortable sharing, but if it’s something that’s bothering you this much I would hope that you will talk to your Mama about it instead, hm?”

This comment made him look at her, his vivid red eyes wide with shock and awe at her perception. “How?”

Ninira smiled, and as much as she liked her role as the ever mysterious, magical, aunt to Lunya’s children she simply leaned over and tapped his cold mug. “You have not touched your cocoa. Something must, truely, be wrong for that to be the case.” She winked at him.

He looked from Ninira, to the mug, before looking back at the book of arcana now sitting open on the table.

So it is about the lessons. Ninira thought as she observed his darting gaze. Perhaps I was too quick--

Her thoughts were cut off as Luneth suddenly blurted, “Mama took me to the Arcanist Guild in Limsa!”

Ninira blinked, it was not the declaration she had expected. “Oh? Was that not exciting?” Lunya had mentioned the trip to Ninira earlier that week via linkpearl. She’d had another errand to run in the city that day and thought the addition of bringing Luneth to see the guild, now that he was more deep in his studies, would be an exciting addition to the outing. Ninira had been invited, with the extra suggestion of lunch at The Bismark afterward, but Ninira had had to decline. Orh Khai had arrived earlier that morning with eight of his apparent cousin’s in tow—to see the city, he’d declared—as such her house had suddenly become an apparent bed and breakfast for dragons. Not only was she fighting to keep them out of her things but Estinien was at his wits end as well. As much as she would have rathered the day out, and lunch at The Bismarck, she wasn’t about to leave him to entertain eight dragonets alone. Regardless, she had encouraged the idea. She’d thought the sight of the Guild’s libraries and active members would inspire and awe the child, instead it seemed to have done the opposite.

Luneth shifted nervously. “Mama said I’d go learn there one day.”

Ninira nodded, adjusting her glasses. “To receive recognition by the guild is important, and a great achievement. Your Mama is well known within the guild, as I’m sure you know. They’ll be more than delighted to have you.”

Luneth shook his head, tears clearly beginning to form in his eyes. “Everyone there was s--so smart and strong looking! Even the people that were just starting to learn. I’m… I’m not good enough to go there.”

“Luneth..” Ninira rose, moving around the table to sit beside him. “You’re also very smart and you’re going to be very strong. You’re going to fit in just fine, I know it.” She gave his back a reassuring rub. 

“B--But I like coming here, and learning with y--you.” He sniffed loudly. “I don’t want to go to the guild instead.”

It was then that it dawned on Ninira just what was causing the boy so much distress. “Luneth, Sweetie, don’t worry. You’re not going to be studying at the guild anytime soon.” 

He looked up at her with glassy eyes. “-m not?” 

“Goodness no. You’re still a child! Your Mama isn’t about to send you off to the guild all alone like that.”

He sniffed. 

“Besides,” she put an arm around him and gave him a tight squeeze of a hug. “You think I’m ready to let you go yet? Who would I share my treats and books with?” She watched as he wiped at his eyes. “Come now, let's get you cleaned up.” She closed the book still sitting open on the table and got to her feet before helping a somewhat bewildered Luneth up as well. “We’re done for today I think,” Ninira declared.

“D--done? But I didn’t finish the reading.” Luneth sniffled as he followed Ninira out of her study.

“I know, and that’s just fine.” She smiled at him. “We still have a few bells before your Mama comes to pick you up again, so how about we make cookies?”

That made his ears perk up, “Cookies?”

“And some new cups of hot cocoa are in order, I think.”

Luneth smiled. “But Auntie Nini, you’re really bad at making cookies!”

“Exactly! That’s why I’ll need your help.”

so, 1k. what the fuck.

i think i spent half a minute staring in disbelief at my follower count that night. first of all, thank you for being here and choosing to follow. i’m not really sure if you got what you followed for tho HAHA it’s been over a year and a half since i started using this blog as a platform to post my brainchildren and it’s been really fun having other people read and enjoy what i’ve written. i didn’t expect to reach this massive of an audience bc 1k in an irl context is still a lot of people ;n; 

nonetheless, i’m very grateful for everyone i’ve met along the way!! i can’t tag each one of you but please know that i’m grateful for the few moments we’ve shared. this blog is a piece of me that’s very special and i’m glad that you’re a part of it. i may not be the most interactive blogger/mutual, but know that i’m extremely thankful to those who took the time to check this blog out or engage with me :((
