I kinda started it as a form of therapy, and now I’ve reached a point in the third arc where the main character, Henry, isn’t necessary anymore. So maybe instead of ending it I’ll just make him a background secondary character. I dunno. MAYBE I’ll put it on hold for a while and do another story in the mean time.🤷

he spent the first eight years of his career trying to prove he was worthy. eight years of media bullshit and passive aggressive comments from his coaches and constantly putting in the work day in and day out. always the last one off the ice. attends every optional practice and has been elevating his play year after year. eight years of showing his commitment and proving he deserves to be here and now he’s got eight more years with a NMC. he asked for eight years with a NMC.

i was able to live these last, what, 4 years without having to hear the words "mitch marner contract" every two minutes. i miss that peace deeply

When does Mitch have to make his decision by?

the start of next season technically. realistically, if he actually goes to free agency on july 1st and the threat of it isn't just negotiating power then my own anxiety will go crazy. he's the biggest name on the market and a lot of teams will be trying to sign him as soon as we hit july but if the leafs are under the real impression he doesnt want to sign, they can make moves starting july 1st too and use his cap space, which is why it becomes scary. there was a rumor saying he would still be considering toronto on july 1st which, again, makes me think the fa threat is just a tactic to get toronto to match what other teams are willing to pay (like mitch is Technically not allowed to be talking to other teams at the moment or until noon on july first. its called tampering but it happens all the time lol). so he could even technically go to free agency and get all the numbers and come back to the leafs and ask them to match it but it's a gamble to make the leafs wait bc they will be trying to make their own moves in the offseason.

it baffles me that so many people are so sure of whats happening bc a camp in the middle of negotiating who has always said they were waiting til free agency is still saying that. that doesn't indicate anything crazy to me. it will if we actually get there but i actually dont think you can just write off the negotiation tactics ferris uses until the reality of those threats plays out, ya know
