We're very excited to announce the Sonic Pride Corner project, a blog run by queer Sonic the Hedgehog fans with the purpose of celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community within the StH fandom!

We are making this post not only to announce our presence as a blog, but also to announce that we will be opening Sonic character Pride Month requests on the 29th of May, 2025! You will be able to request whatever StH characters you want, with one or more LGBTQIA+ headcanon(s) of your choice, and our team of over 20 mods will make it reality! (Through our art, of course.) For those of you interested in participating in the project with your own art and/or writing, we will also be running a Sonic Pride Week event taking place from June 23rd through June 27th! Our Sonic Pride Month Requests

Our inbox is currently open for blog and event related questions ONLY. Requests will open on May 29th, 2025. Any request sent before this date will be deleted. Additionally, requests will close on June 23rd, 2025.

You will be able to request any Sonic the Hedgehog character(s) you'd like, along with one or more LGBTQIA+ headcanons you'd like to see them drawn with! You may also request ships for us to draw, but please specify that you want them to be depicted as a ship (you may also specify romantic or QPR if you'd like) and make sure to include LGBTQIA+ headcanons for any characters involved!

Examples of requests we'd be happy to draw:

"Can you draw Sonic with a trans flag scarf and an aroace pin?"

"Could you please draw Amy in lesbian flag colors?"

"May I see Knuckles x Shadow, with them holding a bi flag together?"

Once we start receiving requests, we will be working on them on a First Come, First Serve basis-- however, every mod's workflow is different, and some asks may end up getting answered faster than others purely because of this. That being said, the earlier you send your request in, the more likely we will be able to make art for it!

Due to the FCFS nature of this event, we ask that you limit your requests to only one or two to let other people have a fair chance at their requests being drawn, and only make another request when your initial requests have been answered.

While we are accepting requests before Pride Month begins, we will not actually be answering them until June 1st. Along those lines, although we are closing our requests on June 23rd, we will continue to answer requests until the end of the month (provided that we still have requests to draw by that time). Please keep this in mind!

q: what program do you use to make your flags/edits and how? a: i use gimp on desktop! here's a simple flag tutorial i made and a basic flag splicing tutorial for multi-flag icons.

q: are you alright with requests involving [insert media]? a: if it's not in my general rules linked above, probably yes! if you're concerned for a specific reason (source content, shitty creator, etc.) please let me know in your ask; i don't know what's problematic about every piece of media!

q: i don't see my request in the inbox! can i resend it? a: yes! just resend it and let me know that you sent it previously while requests were open.

q: can i put your terms on [insert wiki] or [insert other social media site]? a: yes, as long as you credit me and do not reword my definitions, add additional definitions, etc.

q: can you tag [insert thing]? a: yes, i'll try my hardest to remember! feel free to remind me if i forget.

q: how long will it take for my request to be posted? how long will it take for you to get to my request? a: i can't definitively say, sorry! i try to make it so the queue has a month's worth or less of posts in it, but as for getting to your request, i don't really know for a number of reasons.

So I get a lot of questions. And I also get the same questions a lot, so hopefully this helps some of y’all before sending something through, but also those too nervous to ask!

Requests

Do you take requests? I used to, but my schedule doesn’t allow for it any more. However if you are an artist looking for something specific, you are welcome to IM me and I’ll see if I can help you out. Just be aware I only get to take screenshots about once a month now and queue everything.

I requested [thing] before you closed requests, is it gone? Although slow-coming, former requests are still on my list to do except for if it was a vague or colossal request like ‘more of [character] please’ or ‘all the characters [detail]’

Can I have screenshots of [Thing]? I’ve probably already had at least three requests for it, so please check the appropriate tags to find it. Most likely what you’re after will either be in a character tag from this list, and/or the relevant scene from this list. I take great pride in my lists and tagging, please use them. I will ignore vague/ duplicate requests because my inbox is flooded with this.

Can you post more/less of [Character]? No. Deal with it. They’re all great and I’ll post what I want. >:3

Can I use your screenshots for RP Icons? A’ight, so I have to address something here as an update: Yes, I’m still fine for my screenshots to be used for RP Icons. But please follow the same terms for icon use as on DMCRPC. For those who don’t know, DMCRPC it is a project I’ve undertaken with a friend to create a MASSIVE icon resource for the role-play community. This includes that coming up with the terms of icon use for it together.

I have chosen not to engage in RPC discourse on this blog, nor do I want drama about my friends or affiliations. My friends are my friends, and reasonable adults. Therefore the following must be said:

If you are inclined to gatekeep, moderate or censor other people’s fictional works because of ‘problematic’ themes/content by actively seeking people to try ‘correct’ them via harassment and, threats and hate: I have no interest in supporting you. i’m a dirty rotten ace inclusionist, and here’s why

so against my better judgement and some advice from friends, ive decided to make a post about ace discourse

because it just kinda... hurts to see shit about it every day. and i feel like a broken record saying that, but it hurts. 

if youre reading this, and youre an exclusionist, please read the entire thing and don’t come storming into my inbox to tell me hurtful shit because odds are, ive seen it already and im sure im not gonna cover everything, just some of the stuff ive seen today

So, me. ill tell my story even tho no one asked for it, because unfortunately on this website people demand proof of person in order to give someone validity or some shit. im asexual. and i stick to that, because i don’t really experience attraction or arousal at all. that changes sometimes, but rarely. im genitals-repulsed as well. but i am still intimate with my partner sometimes, and sometimes i force the candle to light, because idk i get bored. 

but when i figured out i was ace, i was texting my best friend. and he suggested it, and immediately i felt broken and wrong thinking about the fact that i could be ace. I had to be convinced that it was okay. that’s something that non-ace people dont seem to get. not feeling sexual, or sexual about other, real people, can make you feel broken. it makes me feel like shit, and i have some dysfunction with partners as well. i have trauma in my past, but im convinced that doesn’t have too much to do with it. And maybe it’s a temporary thing, and ill change in the future. But that doesn’t change the fact that it makes me feel like less of a human being when i think about it. and i have no doubt that the idea has crossed other ace peoples’ minds before. “am i broken?” i ask my girlfriend that question so much. because my body doesnt do this thing that both science and the modern media and society tell me that it should do, and should do very easily. my FAMILY tells me its weird and ill be fine. my FRIENDS don’t get it. my mother thinks it’s horseshit. and there’s another thing.

i kinda feel like, if someone is gonna go excluding ace people and shoving them out, will i be shoved out for being closeted, or straight-passing when im not with my girlfriend, as well? it’s a legitimate fear and it feels really bad. and then, can you imagine how it feels having a portion of my identity actively shat on by this website? every fucking day of this month? the pride month?

another thing that non-ace people dont seem to understand or consider, either, is the dysphoria that ace people experience. ace people frequently hate their bodies, feel like they don’t belong in them, or feel separated from normalcy by what they are. 

it’s not a “whose suffering is worse” game, though we can still understand that people face greater harm and trials in their life by being different parts of lgbt, and allow people who suffer less, like say people who are closeted, bi or pan people who are “straight passing” dating the opposite gender, etc, to be a part of it. in my experience, lgbt+ is about acceptance and love, and ill stick to that. yes it’s possible to recognize that say, a trans woman would suffer more than a cishet ace. but that doesnt mean that one should be less allowed to be a part than another.

“ace people aren’t oppressed” well no maybe not to the degree that the typical lgbt person is, but around the world people are forced into obligatory sexual situations they may or may not want, and if they refuse or cannot perform, they can be labeled as broken, thrown out of their home, or r*ped. there is social pressure from the intensely sexual modern media; there is social pressure from society and family; there is social pressure from significant others and partners to perform, and then, especially for women, there is pressure to accept things, and there is pressure to perform sexually in order to have a happy life; IE: having children, families, satisfied partners, and so on. no, these aren’t as significant outwardly as “getting stabbed to death for existing” ((which yeah, does happen, but is an extreme example that someone i know loves to use to win arguments by playing the manipulative “of course this means you care less about the human lives of gay men than the thing you’re arguing for” card. im not saying that situations are equal here, jesus, im saying that oppression exists in many forms)). and, for a society where sex is a function that bodies easily perform, it seems easy enough to go along with things. But for some people, bodies either do not or will not perform. or there is repulsion, or other things and i lost my train of thought. got distracted, my apologies

ace people might be cishet, yeah, but that doesnt mean they belong any less in my opinion. no, i dont think they should be able to call themself qu**r, thats stupid. they aren’t allowed to reclaim any slurs that dont belong to them. that’s also really fucking stupid. and im sorry, but no decent person will try to do that. and why not let them come to the club, okay? they still face problems. like i say maybe fifty billion times in this post, yes, they don’t face the same problems, but they still have them. 

“start your own community” where? how? if you can give me a legitimate answer on this without frothing at the mouth, please do. But i have no idea how ace people are going to go into starting a community without being ridiculed, shoved aside and stuff. i have no idea how they are all going to bond and meet over a lot of different pipelines of communication, like the ones in communities they are already a part of. shoving people out, putting a stake in the middle of the cracks in the floor, it does nothing to strengthen our community.

the split attraction model, in my opinion, is useful. but mainly for ace people, or aro people, to make describing themself easier in a shorthand. that’s what the model is best for. and if you come into my inbox and say stuff about how “someone forced the split attraction model on me” that was an individual person and does not lend to the usefulness of the model. and then if you come into my inbox with something about “the split attraction model harms people who arent ace and lets people deny their sexuality”. it is a tool. no one forced you to use it. im certainly not saying everyone should use it. in fact, maybe a lot of the people who do use it, should not. but i like the split attraction model, especially for myself. because i can easily identify and people know what im talking about. that simple. 

okay, that’s all i wanted to say. i wish i had a concrete conclusion but i am just. really tired. i need to unfollow some people. i just wanted to get it off my chest, and say my peace in a place i can find it. again, sorry for my mobile people

Pride month POVs

Warning(s) - posting my opinions / feels about the subject of how different pride month is from my country and my own personal experiences and how i’ll be using malec as an example - should you want to read further, kindly leave your hate, violent / rude comments, prejudices as well as your torches, pitchforks and seraph blades at the doormat - my ask / inbox is always open for clarifications, further discussions, and academic discourse but will be closed to ignorance and hate.

So, pride month is upon us and i use this opportunity every year to discuss with my students the value and significance of recognizing the rights of lgbtqia(+). I have been teaching social studies and sexuality for a few years now but i am by no means an expert. I, however, do serve the community and part of it so by no means do i offer my words as an offense to anyone. I am merely offering my own piece of mind and discussions i’ve had with a few of our professors who are well versed in the subject.

- in all my years in the academe, i have not encountered the word ‘POC’ until i saw it on my tumblr feed a few years years back. Curiosity got the better of me and upon discovering what it was, made me realize that i could not use it in context in my teachings and is probably limited in Caucasian territory. - i had a few of my students physically describe malec and here are some of their answers: (some were familiar with the show while others merely watched a few clips) “the sexy warlock and the handsome archer” “the tall dude and the stoic fellow” “Dark-haired, blue eyes meets dark-haired, brown eyes” “a guy and a guy” - needless to say, not one of them commented about how they were from two different races. Maybe, we could say that it’s because Harry may not look as Asian as… Let’s say Jackie Chan. (But that would be too racist and prejudice of them). Which is also applicable to people easily describing that Matt is Caucasian. Perhaps, it may be different if i had asked them to describe a person with dark skin and a person with fair skin as a couple. - point in being that we see them how we like to see them. We are the ones who are placing labels that we think as being ‘correct’ even politically but they are still ‘labels’ in their own way. Why can we not see what they really are a couple in love

who wears the pants in the relationship?

-when I was a student, i failed to understand the question and bluntly answered 'don’t both of them do?’ and you may laugh at it now, but isn’t that the real thing? That both of them are biologically males. That they are both of the same sex. And they love one another. Stop giving them gender specific roles such as who is the 'catcher’ and who is the 'pitcher’. Sure, it may be fun to speculate who is 'daddy’ but what does that make the other guy, is he 'papa’? -i love how the fandom is thrilled when they give lines such as ’_____ initiated the kiss’. Sure, he did. But does that leave his partner out for the batting? In a society where it is now socially accepted for females to initiate the moves, shouldn’t it be the same for same - sex relationships? -it matters not who initiated what, the goal of the relationship is to reciprocate the love given and the love received.

demoralizing each other

-the consumption of media now thrives on being inclusive; that includes representation of the lgbtqia through various ships. It is imperative therefore, that the media banks on these ships to fuel their ratings and develop a fan base to identify with their production. -once in a while, not everyone will agree to the ships that they are producing. And that’s ok, it’s hard to please everyone. However, it does not give us the entitlement to destroy each other’s beliefs. -malec is my OTP. From the get-go. And i love them to bits. I am malec trash. But that doesn’t mean i am trashing other ships. Sh is about clace. Let’s face it. They are the main characters of the show and there is not much we can do about it. -what we can do is respect each others ships. Not sink them to the ground. Pride month is not only about showing lgbtqia couples love, it is also about showing the people that lgbtqia’s care about what it means to be loved in different ways, in ways that people may not really fully understand… Yet. -it also means that we have to respect their (lgbtqia’s) identities. Alec has come out of the closet. He is gay. Shipping him with Jace is fine. Because he was admittedly infatuated with him. Shipping him with simon? Sure, that’s your trip. Why not? But shipping him with Clary? It’s a notp, dude. And not even because they don’t like each other that much. You, as the shipper, are ignoring (and possibly destroying) the identity of alec as a gay man. It’s being homophobic. -now, i know. What about sizzy or jimon? They’re 'straight’ people, why are you supporting lgbtqia couples of 'straight’ people? You are imposing double standards! You’re destroying their identities as having been openly 'straight’. I know. And to defend my case, i would have to start with the beginning of why heterosexuals started slash shipping. And the simplest answer i could give you is that we want more lgbtqia love in the world. “We develop affinities for characters because we admire their traits, and because we like them, we want them to find love and happiness with other characters we like. The ships become what we would like to see, in an ideal world, in our own relationships or in the relationships of others.” (Frost, 2017). Pride month is about giving out love and dismissing the hate; that we should not fear discrimination but fear of diminishing our identities. We may choose to hide in our closets, or we may choose to take refuge in each other. But we need to share love. Give love and be loved in return. That’s all we could hope for. All that we are, is love.

We're focused on spreading positivity, being a welcoming and supportive space for queer sonic fans, and providing LGBTQIA+ resources.

In June, we will have Pride Month requests! You will be able to request any Sonic the Hedgehog character(s) you'd like, along with one or more LGBTQIA+ headcanons you'd like to see them drawn with! You may also request ships for us to draw, but please specify that you want them to be depicted as a ship (you may also specify romantic or QPR if you'd like) and include LGBTQIA+ headcanons for any characters involved! Examples of requests we'd be happy to draw:

"Can you draw Sonic with a trans flag scarf and an aroace pin?"

"Could you please draw Amy in lesbian flag colors?"

"May I see Knuckles x Shadow, with them holding a bi flag together?"

All throughout this month (and earlier!!) people have been thinking it’s okay to put discourse bait in bisexual people’s inboxes and be generally biphobic towards them (“don’t you think pansexual is a more open minded label???”). And they’re still going! It’s probably because someone thought it was a good idea to bring bi/pan discourse back (it wasn’t please don’t do again next pride month y’all don’t even think about it).
