on the third date they went ice skating. not the best idea. sure, asher was the one to ask them to go skating with him, but he started rethinking that decision when he realized he had no idea how to skate whatsoever. it was nice when babe grabbed his hand to steady him, which only led to them going down with him the next time his skate caught on a small crack in the ice. shit, this was not supposed to be going so horribly.

babe steadies themself and extends a hand for him to take again. “are you ok??”

he almost laughs at how concerned they seem because hello?? he literally just knocked them over and they’re asking if he’s ok?

“yeah, i’m fine! uhahf- are you ok? i mean it’s basically my fault that we fell- god!”

“don’t worry ash, it’s all good,” they smile, and asher thinks he might have died right then and there, “oh, hey! you might want to re-tie your skates, we’ve been on the ice for a while so they might be kinda lose by now.”

he agrees, and tells them that he’s going to the bathroom before they can help him with his skates. he whips out his phone to text milo as soon as the gets in a stall.

angel has like mountains of books piled up in their room and when david sees their room for the first time as soon as he walks in he says, “you need a fucking bookshelf.”

“why? i like the piles”

“because, there’s no way you can find any specific book if everything is just stacked together!”

“eh, i manage. plus, there isn’t even any space in here for a whole bookshelf, i would need like some little cart thing, like they have in libraries.” they chuckle.

when he bought them a book cart for their birthday one year, he put it together and organized most of their books on it (or at least the ones that he knows they love; little women, perks of being a wallflower, and an abundance of fantasy series saved from their childhood). angel just didn’t live in that crappy little apartment anymore, and sure, there was enough room for a bookshelf in the couple’s house, but angel’s piles had grown on him, and also physically grown.

“oh my god davey.” they smile so wide that david thinks he’s going to combust, “this- this is perfect.”

“i remembered you saying that you could use one a while back soo..”

angel swears that they fell in love with him all over again when he surprised them with it. they think back to all the cheesy little notes they left in the margins of various books over the years about wanting something just like the cute relationships they would read about. but they have it so much better. because they have davey who loves them so much as to build them a whole fucking book cart, they have davey who goes along with all of their silly shit, davey who reads their beautifully annotated copies of stories they love, they have davey, their fiancé. davey who will be with them forever.
