i'm in a lot of fandoms and have a lot of OCs, but my current main fandom is dungeon meshi! my otp is chilaios, but you'll also see kabumisu from time to time because that's my other fave. i've finished the manga and watch new episodes as they air; for blacklisting purposes, my general spoilers tag (for major plot points or things the anime isn't at yet) is "#dunmeshi spoilers" and my spoiler tag for new or upcoming anime episodes is "#dunmeshi anime spoilers".

as the anime is currently on hiatus and i've finished the manga, my focus has been wandering. i'm not done with dunmeshi, nor am i abandoning any of my chilaios fics!! i just have adhd. i'll be posting lots of OC stuff and reblogging general posts about things i have an interest in.

i tag most posts, often with commentary but i also have a mild organizational system. you'll see a lot of "laugh rule", "psa", and "queer stuff". i always try to tag for fandom and ship (if either are things i like and may appear on my blog again), and if a post's body doesn't include text for sensitive content that's in links or images, i'll try to tag things that are widely considered triggers as well. i don't have a dedicated nsfw tag, so if you can't handle tumblr's allowed level of filth, my blog may not be for you. also, no minors, period. if you are under 18 and follow me or contact me directly i will block you. Blog PSA: Upcoming Spoiler Warnings

TL;DR: Since the release of the first 3 chapters of A Soul of Ash and Blood, the release of the blurb for A Fire in the Flesh, as well as all of the teasers from the JLAnders Facebook group that have been released and circulating around social media, I feel this is the best time to remind everyone that this is the time to be cautious around spoilers. So get your filtered tags ready and beware (see further down for the tags I will be using)!

WARNING: LONG POST ALERT!!

As far as this blog specifically goes, I will do my level best here to avoid any potential spoilers for the upcoming books, particularly ASOAAB since we are so close. Once ASOAAB is released, I will try my hardest to prevent any unintentional slip-ups. I will do the same thing with AFITF once we get nearer to the release date and send out a reminder then also.

I do not currently plan on stopping, pausing, or otherwise altering the schedule for daily posting on this blog. I will try to stop posting anything even slightly related to ASOAAB from release day to around mid-August, so you will likely see a lot more Fire and Flesh series related posts during that time. Expect the reverse with AFITF.

However, since it is well known that this upcoming book will heavily feature scenes from From Blood and Ash from Cas' perspective, there is a chance of having some crossover between now and mid-August or that some quotes already posted may have unintentional spoilers. Please be aware of this! This has also never been a spoiler free blog. If it's been out for longer than a month, chances are there are spoilers here somewhere.

Anything between release day and mid-August that might even remotely qualify for a spoiler warning will be tagged with #asoaab spoilers and #a soul of ash and blood spoilers for your filtering pleasure. You may also want to consider unfollowing or temporarily blocking this blog for the time being and I'll catch up with you on the other side!

I only put this too long warning out because this blog did cause some inadvertent offense around the release of A Light in the Flame in late 2022. This is when some silly quotes I did earlier in 2022 were accused by anons over the course of a few months of being "alitf spoilers" months after they were originally posted (in early 2022) when ALITF was finally released and people found my older pre-release posts for the first time. I never would have made this public and thought this had all died down, but it has since started again.

Please know from the bottom of my heart that spoiling someone's fun is NEVER my intention, coincidences are sometimes real, and I am only one human, not some faceless, soulless Tumblr goblin. If there are problems, questions, or concerns, I am always open to listen. However, please don't curse at or "flame" at me. I won't respond publicly but I will cry and it will ruin my day. I truly try my best and I just want to make sure this time that there is no confusion for those who may already be here.

With all of that said, you will probably hear from me once more closer to release day with yet another, much more concise reminder and I hope everyone has a great ASOAAB release!! Happy reading everyone!

i don't want or need a sequel at all, in fact, i feel like they nailed the ending even with the time crunch. i feel like it is a wonderful, grand closed book and i don't want them to try to pull, like, a 20 episode arc out of what is a beautiful complete story

however i WOULD take an epilogue that is just the Pack of Pixies doing the RueHob wedding and whatever blissful chaos THAT would entail. i'd take a one or two shot of that, for sure

PSA for the Phandom

Guys, I love DC comics and the overall DC Universe.

It's fun and it's really compatible and easy to make crossovers with Danny Phantom.

But please for the love of all that is good in this world:

I cannot tell you the amount of DC crossovers there are in the Danny Phantom tag currently but it is A Lot and people like me, who are getting overwhelmed by huge amounts of DC crossover posts, already have a tough time blocking tags with the different variations currently in use.

Like there's "dp x dc" , "danny phantom x dc" , "DP/DC" , "dc x dp" , "dp dc crossover" , "danny phantom dc crossover", "danny phantom x batman crossover" and so many more.

Some people just tag it "justice league", "dcau", or "dc" and leave it at that without a specific crossover tag like ??? I like seeing regular, non-crossover Justice League and DC posts so I can't block those tags to get rid of DP x DC crossover posts :/

Hell, there are some people who don't tag these crossover posts with anything other than "danny phantom"

This is important for people who like DC crossovers too! If you've got dozens of tags for one type of crossover then that means you guys are missing DC crossover posts because you can't find them!

We all just want to curate our Phandom experience so we can enjoy the stuff we like, and avoid the stuff we don't. However, it becomes incredibly hard to avoid posts we don't like when they're not tagged.

So please, as a favour to every person in the Phandom who does not want to see DC crossover posts, tag your posts with DPxDC

I try to give everyone a chance, but I make no promises. In reverse though, being a shipwhore I will never force a ship. If you don’t ship something that is FINE, even if its just with my portrayal, let me know if that’s the case! Really I’m not going to get offended or upset or freak out. Felicity could use friends- enemies? family? I just love to rp in general. If I ever seem to be making you uncomfortable with a ship than tell me please. I would hate to do that to someone just like I would hate for it to happen to me, all I ask is that you tell me nicely and I promise I won’t bite, really!

8. THIS BLOG IS SELECTIVE PRIVATE AND MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE. I do have mains and will make a mains page but anyone I follow and follows me I will interact with regardless of being a main or not, otherwise if I don’t follow you please refrain from sending me things. Breaking this rule to the point of making me uncomfortable will lead me to blocking you. 

9. Just because I’ve been having trouble on and off the last few months with this I want a reminder, while I am mutually exclusive I am NOT fully exclusive. I WILL interact with multiples of the same character. I WILL have multiples of the same character on my mains list if I feel like it. This is not done to hurt anymore or because I don’t like certain portrayals. If I follow you I like you. It’s as simple as that. I just cannot and will not be limited or held back with who I want to write with.

PSA: Please get the updated bivalent covid shot and the flu shot!

In the US, only 12.5% of people over 5 have gotten the new covid vaccine which protects against omicron. If you remember from 2020 and 2021, winter will bring likely surge of cases. The more people who are vaccinated, the less severe cases and deaths, and the less likely our already overwhelmed healthcare system is to get completely swamped. If you haven't already, please go get the vaccine and protect yourself and community.

Also, get your flu shot! Flu cases are already looking to be very high this year (about 18.1% positive testing rate as of November 28th, as opposed 3.6% from a normal year, as listed in the Vox article). Flu can always be a serious illness, but it's especially important this year to get vaccinated.

There are people who can't get vaccinated and they are often the people most at risk of serious illness from both covid and the flu. Please help lower their risk by getting vaccinated.

Discord is the fastest way to get in contact with me, asks on tumblr can get eaten and DMs on tumblr are weird for me. I'm not active on any other platforms

“When will x/y/z update?”

I don’t know. Don’t ask me or leave comments pestering me about updating things. I have adhd, and fanfiction is a hobby that I do for myself, so I work on things as I’m able to. My focus is fickle and I tend to jump from project to project, because that’s how I have fun. When it comes to my hobbies, me having fun is the whole reason I do them. Pestering me just makes me want to do it even less. Seriously.

“Can I send you asks about x/y/z? Do you mind talking about x/y/z?”

I'm not going to be upset about any ask sent in as long as it's in good faith, but that doesn't mean I'll answer every ask I get. If I don't answer an ask, it means that I wasn't sure on an answer, I'd answered the question before, or I just didn't feel like it. Odds are it's nothing personal, if I have an issue with someone or something, then I block.

That all being said, I don't answer questions asking for personal information of any kind unless it's something I've publicly discussed. I also prefer that people do not use tone indicators in asks, or if you must, please use full words and not acronyms. I'm pretty good at reading tone in text to begin with, and I run under the assumption most asks are in good faith.

“Can I use your idea/headcanon/etc in my fic/art/etc?”

Yes! People are always welcome to use my ideas/headcanons/etc with credit. You can create stuff set in my AU/make your own takes on them. All I ask is that you don’t copy my stuff word for word (ie reposting), and give credit if heavily referencing my works. You do not need to ask my permission to use my stuff as inspiration, but if you do create something 100% feel free to tag me/send it to me! I love seeing this stuff!

“Can I repost your fic/artwork/headcanon/etc?”

Probably not. I’m okay with my chat posts and non-fictional PSAs/advice posts being reposted to other platforms (with credit). For anything else, I do not allow reposting unless you ask me first (that being said, I do sometimes give permission when asked, it just depends on the post and platform you want to repost on). Translations and Podfics are absolutely fine though!

“Will you tag (specific trigger) or (spoilers)”

Probably not, sorry! I’d like to say that I could, and I try to tag major triggers & spoilers when I remember to, but again, ADHD means I tend to be pretty scattered brained and my tagging is pretty inconsistent as a result. I don’t want to promise to tag stuff when I know I’ll probably forget at some point.

“Do you take requests/commissions/art trades/do collabs/have a ko-fi?”

I am not currently taking commissions, but I do take them every so often when the mood strikes. Post submission guidelines!

You can submit posts in a couple ways: tag me in an existing post for me to reblog, send me a post to reblog via DMs, submit photos through the “Show Me Stuff!” link on the homepage (click the three bar logo in the upper left corner-- this is the preferred method for sending photos that haven’t already been posted by someone else!), or send an ask with your photos.

If you want your submission tagged for a certain part/character, leave the names in the tags or include it in the text of your DM/ask!

If you submitted something and I haven’t posted it, it’s because I’ve already shared that piece/post!

Try to avoid anything super explicit-- see the “nsfw-ish” tag explanation above for the extent of what’s allowed!

Please include a source for your image(s)-- this should include the designer’s name at the very least, but years/seasons, publication info, model/photographer/stylist names, and all other information is also greatly appreciated. Alternatively, you can include a link to where you found the picture if that link is for the creator’s website/store, a magazine article, or some other kind of helpful and informative source. If you found it on Pinterest, don’t send the Pinterest link-- send the outgoing link that the pin leads back to. If you’ve tried and failed to find a source via reverse image search, Googling, etc., then you can submit your images with “Source needed” as a last resort.

OC Friday submission guidelines!

I won’t accept AI generated images. You might send me something without knowing it’s AI, and that’s okay, but just know I won’t post it and I encourage you to look closely any any off-looking images before you submit. Here's a post I've made to help with that.

I don't accept art of pre-existing non-JoJo characters or designs as fashion posts. For example, if you send me "X from the Y franchise reminds me of a JoJo character!" or "This fan art of Z from the show Q is wearing a cool outfit!", I won't count it. If you can find the real-world fashion that inspired those designs, feel free to send those instead!

Any kind of character art is welcome!

There’s no limit to the number of characters you can submit.

You can either tag me on a post or submit art through my main page, but I recommend tagging so that people can find your blog more easily!

Fan art submission guidelines!

Submit art of canon JJBA characters wearing alternate outfits from what they wear in the series-- art of canon outfits don’t count! I’ll make an exception for alternate outfits from official art (i.e. Jolyne/Bruno/Abbacchio in their Fly High with Gucci outfits) as long as it’s not the character’s primary outfit within the story.

You can send your own art or other people’s, but it has to be from Tumblr bc I won’t repost art from other platforms.

The clothes can be from this blog or not from this blog! (but it does make me very happy when you draw stuff I’ve posted)

“KARA!”

In such a desperate, determined, adrenaline-filled state that she had never been pushed to before, one wouldn’t have expected Kara to suddenly cease her fighting and freeze like a statue. But that was the kind of power that her only the bond of sisters could hold, and the moment she heard Alex’s voice, the voice she had dreamed about hearing for so long, a tiny part inside of her knew that she was safe.

Kara turned and, sure enough, there her sister stood, with the rest of the Superfriends and some DEO agents by her side. The look on Alex’s face mirrored what the Kryptonian was feeling inside — intense gratitude and relief.

In a matter of seconds, the two had collided, their grips like iron around each other. Kara practically melted into Alex’s arms. She had almost forgotten what hugging Alex felt like, and that was one of the worst pains in the world.

Throughout all this, the cries of battle and her own bruisers aching were numbed. But when Alex so suddenly pulled back and when she looked alarmed, frightened, it all came crashing back.

“Where’s Y/N?”

Kara’s head instinctively whipped back, eyes searching for their little sister. When Y/N was nowhere to be seen, a stab of panic hit her. Just minutes ago she had been here! Fighting the Phantoms with her and her father!

When Kara turned back to her with that clueless, helpless look in her eyes, Alex felt that same stab. The two didn’t need to speak out loud to decide what to do next — they both took off, further into the fight, determined to find their sister.

They skidded to a fast halt when they found who they had been searching for, but the sight that awaited them was less than ideal. Y/N was laying on the ground, curled up on her side. Looming over her was one of the Phantoms, who Alex would say later had matched the description of the Dementors from Harry Potter.

At first, neither sister did anything. Alex’s eyes were flickering all over the place, assessing the situation, and Kara was getting used to having her powers again. They quickly snapped back to the present, though, and without a second thought, Kara blasted the Phantom with her heat vision.

“Ka—ra . . .”

The blonde and the brunette pivoted to see Y/N weakly croaking from the ground. They could tell that she was only half-conscious, especially if she didn’t realize that Alex was there. Kara knelt down and Alex stayed back, not wanting to overwhelm Y/N right now.

“It-it’s . . . trying to possess me . . .” Y/N let out a small noise of discomfort and leaned her head against the ground, seeking comfort in even the briefest of moments that she could get of relief from this unbearable pain.

Kara and Alex’s eyes widened, the gears turning in their heads as they frantically attempted to figure out how to best help Y/N. It seemed that they didn’t need to fret for long, though, because out of nowhere, a blast of yellow energy suddenly hit Y/N in the chest and she rolled onto her back, fully unconscious.

The women turned, ready to fight, only to stand down when they saw a DEO agent carrying a blaster.

“I’m sorry Director Danvers, Supergirl . . . When we learned of the Phantom Zone’s existence, the director at the time had the DEO create weapons that could work against the . . . Beings here. This is supposed to free someone from being possessed by one of those things,” the agent said.

Alex turned back to look at her unconscious sister, her lips pulling into a thin line. “Let’s hope that that blaster did what it was supposed to do,” she said lowly, an icy tone in her voice. All three knew that if the blast didn’t work, the agent would have hell to pay.

. . .

“Oh my god!” Alex gasped, instantly recoiling, pulling her hand back from Y/N’s shoulder. She turned to Kara, alarmed. “Why is she so cold?!”

Kara, who was sitting across from Y/N, who had been secured on the spaceship, grimaced and glanced up at Alex. “The Phantoms . . . along with giving you nightmares, hurting you, and possessing you . . . They’re cold,” she explained.

Alex’s face softened, hearing the pain in her voice, and sat down next to Y/N. She leaned forward, her iconic big sister look gleaming in her eyes. “Kara, are you okay?” She asked.

Kara took a big, deep breath. “I missed you,” she finally said, her voice cracked with emotion. “I really missed you. We both did. And now, to be back, and Y/N being injured . . . Rao, I’ve never been that scared, Alex . . . She got hurt and I couldn’t protect her . . . And not just now. Before, she got hurt, too. I got hurt. The Phantoms hurt us and gave us these nightmares and I can only imagine what Y/N is going through and—”

She was cut off when Alex stood up and wrapped her arms around her. Once again, Kara melted into her embrace. Slowly, Alex sat down next to her middle sister, and they both watched Y/N protectively.

“I missed you both too. It was hell. And I never stopped trying to find you,” Alex said softly. After a couple moments of silence, she continued, “We’re going to help Y/N through this. She’s going to be okay.”

Kara leaned her head against Alex’s. She was unsure if Alex was trying to convince her or herself — probably both of them. Nonetheless she nodded. She trusted her big sister. So if Alex said Y/N was going to be okay, Y/N was.

. . .

Scratchy, thin sheets and the pierce of a needle in her flesh is what greeted Y/N when she next woke. Her eyes flew open and, after blinking away the haziness, she was met with the sight of her eldest sister. 

A gasp caught itself in her throat and the quick, sharp pain from the needle went away. 

Alex.

Just as she leant forward to meet her sister halfway in the hug she was now offering, Y/N stopped herself when a dreaded thought squirmed its way into her head . . . What if this was fake? 

Before, those blasted creatures in the Phantom Zone tormented her with dreams that fulfilled her greatest wishes . . . escaping with Kara and seeing Alex again. What if this was another one of those? There was only one way to be sure-

“Y/N!” 

Y/N blinked and shook her head and it was only then that she realized that Alex was giving her quite a forceful - frightened? - look and- 

HOLY SH*T!

Ohmygodohmygodohmygodohmygod

Alex’s hands were on her shoulders . . . 

And she felt them! 

That meant . . . 

. . . This was real. 

THIS WAS REAL!

“Alex!” 

She wasn’t even aware that her sister’s name had left her mouth until it reached her ears and her arms were wrapped around the auburn-haired woman in question. She didn’t realize that she was practically clinging to her sister with an iron grip until Alex had to practically shimmy her way back. 

Y/N took a breath and leant back as well, once again meeting Alex’s eyes - but this time her eyes held pure, giddy amusement and a bubble of tears. 

“Y/N,” Alex said through her Cheshire Cat grin. She cupped Y/N’s cheeks in the palms of her hands and Y/N almost melt. “I missed you so goddamn much.”

Y/N giggled, her own tears coming. “I missed you, too, Allie,” she said, recalling the nickname she had for her when she was younger. Her eyes then travelled down to the needle, now cast away on her beside tray. 

“Oh, sorry about that. I was collecting blood for a blood test, just to make sure that you’re alright,” she explained and Y/N nodded. “Let me go get Kara. I believe Winn is done doing his own medical-thingy for her.” 

As Alex went to leave, Y/N scrunched up her face. “But Winn isn’t a doctor?” She pointed out, and then briefly wondered if Winn had somehow went through medical school and became a doctor while she was in the Phantom Zone . . . and the part that scared her was that that was in the realm of possibility. Really, how long had she and Kara been on? 

“Well, try telling him that,” Alex said before she disappeared behind the door. 

Y/N smiled and, when her sister left, leaned back against her pillows. She didn’t have long to ponder over how long she and Kara been away, because she was soon overcome with pure blackness. 

That’s all it was. As if the lights had dimmed completely. Like the sun had disappeared. 

Despite it only being a vision, a coldness, an emptiness washed over her. Before Y/N even had a chance to ponder over what the hell was happening, horrid cries and pleas screeched into her ears, making her physically jump. And when she did, they only got louder. 

“Y/N! Y/N!” 

The vision was only cast away by the powerful yell-scream-mix-of-a-thing and Y/N was jerked back to the presents to see both her sisters standing in front of her, concerned looks. She opened her mouth to explain, but was cut off when the sounds of the wails came back, this time as a buzz at the bottom of her ears. She saw flashes of grey wisps that just about contorted into sobbing, terrified versions of faces. 

She couldn’t fathom how, but something inside her told her what it was, and she was sure of it. 

“I can see ghosts from the Phantom Zone,” is what she told the heroes before her.

. . .

In the next coming days, Y/N healed physically from the Phantom Zone. In the next coming weeks, she worked with her sisters and other DEO agents to learn how to better control and use her powers. She even ended up figuring out how to channel and use the energy from the ghosts she saw. It was a difficult, tiring process that she sometimes wished could just go away . . . but it was a meaningful one. Besides, she had Alex and Kara there for her. Always.

PSA: Be Upfront

Communication is important in RP.

Now, to preface, I am not going to use the really awful phrase "it's a hobby not a jobby" because this is a really sketch take on what is important to people. You can have a hobby mean a lot to you, be you a collector, a gardener, someone that builds model airplanes, a writer, an artist, etc. Those are all hobbies, and the fruits of your labor are NOT only valuable to you and others if you are paid for them. This saying implies that should you never be a published author, never have a painting sell, never do something that can be sold or have a time clock punched, it doesn’t at all matter. It’s a really discouraging thing to be telling people, quite honestly. I have multiple hobbies outside of RP. Kind of really sucks to see constantly they don’t matter because nobody pays me for what I do. I know I’m not the only one who has said this, but the majority aren’t willing to say it amongst the clamoring of ‘rp isn’t a job’ because then you get people jumping down your throat. Hear me out though! I’m not done.

“BUT I HAVE REAL LIFE!”

Yes! So do we all! We all have problems, and things to take care of. The RPC is littered with people with mental illness, neurodivergence, chronic physical illness (I hit all three categories multiple times, LUCKY ME!). Do not, I repeat, do not ever feel like you need to put RP before: bills, marriage/children/other relationships, your health. Literally, do not have your takeaway from this post be these are secondary to your hobby. They are not. Do not get evicted because you were too busy doing RP at your desk at work, that’s just plain dumb af.

You owe people decency means:

-if you can only do aesthetic posts this week because you are low on writing spoons, that’s fine

-if you had work/health/mother-in-law take over you life this week and you literally didn’t have time to log-in even though you wanted to, that’s fine

-if you are sick in bed and can’t bother to write, that’s fine

What it also means:

-dropping what was supposedly a years long ooc friendship because the other mun isn’t dropping their current muse for you and following you into a different fandom ‘because they’re now boring’ and telling them as much in a message...is shitty behavior.

-daily reblogging multiple memes that people are sending in to you, your wire, your discord, ignoring both those and messages to plot, then whining on the dash that no one wants to write with you (also known as trying to guilt trip interaction, obviously you only wanted it from one specific person not the people actively engaging you)...is shitty behavior.

-claiming you’re open for plots and memes, then only replying to the one or two people consistently for 6 months...is shitty behavior.

Again, in case it wasn’t clear- it’s your blog, it’s your life, it’s your health. That’s not in question.

HOWEVER- be upfront and give people some honesty! What do I mean by that?

If it’s feasible, post that you need a writing break, even if it’s going to be indefinite. Take as many fucking breaks as you need to for your physical and mental health to be the best they can be (I’m not going to say great, as I know what it’s like to just have a ‘good’ health day mean ‘it’s less shit than it could be’).

But if the situation is really you only want to write with these one or two people, just say so! It’s your blog, you’re allowed to decide you’re closed for plots, asks, etc. Just don’t lead people on. Don’t say something and mean something else. Don’t keep reblogging your promo and really you don’t want to write,  and you don’t plan on taking on new mutuals, and don’t plan on replying to dms or threads from anyone else.

I’ll repeat it a little differently to be sure it’s clear- you dictate your activity level and number of mutuals, when you answer asks, threads, etc. This should be at a level that is suited for you and your life, health, etc.

BUT when you engage in RP you are involving someone else’s free time with yours, and it is not fair to them to act like they do not matter. You have involved someone else. Until you disengage from them, be courteous.

I’ll give you an example. When you ask for that starter on both your dash, then DMs, and act super hyped, getting the other mun excited for it, and then they put the time and effort into writing it up and posting it for you, expecting a reply? Only for you to go and make new blogs and immediately ditch that muse without a heads-up? That’s not really fair to the other mun. You communicated you wanted to write this, you hyped them up, they spent their time and writing spoons on your starter...and then you told them other people were more exciting and a better use of your time.

“BUT I DIDN’T TELL THEM THAT!”

Okay, so you didn’t message them ‘Hey loser, your starter sucked, your muse is boring, and honestly, a different fandom is better! Bye!’ But your actions sure give that impression, and unless you communicate otherwise, it’s a shitty move.

Now yes, sometimes you genuinely forget a starter was written because you thought it was drafted and it wasn’t, dumblr is an ass and loses your draft and then you forgot it, something came up that day and bumped it from your mind, etc. NONE OF THESE ARE WHAT I AM REFERRING TO. I have ADHD, object permanence is the thing my brain does where often unless it’s directly in front of my face, it doesn’t exist, until I find it again. I’m aware these things happen, as are most muns, and we don’t mind! Hell, we usually have in our rules “hey if it’s been a hot minute and we haven’t replied to this, feel free to give us a little nudge to see if it’s been lost” because we all know between brains and dumblr’s everlasting fuckery...shit gets lost.

I’m talking about those times where you just up and leave someone hanging without communication. I’m also not saying it might even be on purpose. What I’m saying is you should consider how other muns feel when you do this, and if you cannot avoid it, at least communicate with them.

“Hey, I’m just no longer going to be writing this muse. Sorry I had you write that starter. Do you want to try something with this new one? This is where my brain is at right now.” “Hey I really can’t be online this month thanks to fill-in-the-blank but I do still want to write when I am able.” “Hey, I see you sent in that ask. I’m only interested in this one ship, and I won’t be taking on new threads, but you’re welcome to follow and maybe I’ll take on new threads later. I’m just writing with these two people right now.”

Communication is something that is a requirement in a collaborative hobby.

I know it can be scary. I know the mentality ‘well they reblogged that meme but it’s not for me, I know they said they want to plot but they don’t mean me’, but you really have to get past that when you roleplay to be fair to other people.

Spoiler alert: the examples of shitty behavior further above are what help feed this ‘that post/meme isn’t for me’ mentality, when you do those things you’re fostering people’s anxiety and rejection sensitivity...just saying.

If someone gets mad at you for communicating with them, they’re a shitty person and block them. Literally if someone has a problem with you for trying to start something, especially as mutuals, you’re losing nothing by not writing with them. Find nicer people. So don’t  be afraid to communicate you can’t write currently, you need a break, you’re only writing with these certain people. And don’t be afraid to send in the meme. I promise you, the right people appreciate courteous communication. The ones that don’t...

Again, no one is saying put your life on hold for RP, you’re never allowed to narrow your scope, you’re supposed to always have writing spoons, you need to produce five replies a day or you’re wrong, you always need to log-in to communicate you had a family emergency/depressive episode/etc.

What I am saying, is if you are capable of communicating, respect the time and energy of your fellow muns who may also be very low on spoons and free time themselves, and be honest about where you are at when it comes to taking on new threads, new asks, new partners, etc. Treat others how you want to be treated, and consider you probably wouldn’t like being on the receiving end of the behaviors I’ve described. If you need to be on the clock being paid to be a nice person...please re-evaluate.

Some updates to the HK/NSR crossover AU, since the original was made pre-release (the following does contain spoilers!):

Ghost

Ran away from the Trankil Adoption Agency due to finding most humans too restrictive on their freedom; they’re accustomed to being able to come and go as they please, and the agency doesn’t really approve of trankil running around unattended. BBJ are more relaxed about it, leading to the little one being along the lines of a latchkey trankil.

Mayday and Zuke earn their trust by buying them food and helping them clean up in the restaurant’s bathroom, rather than just grabbing them and dragging them back to the agency. Aunty, for one, adores them, due to their sweet little face and how eagerly they eat her cooking.

Has pulled a knife on Kliff, multiple times, because he’s creepy as hell and sets off all their alarms, much to the exasperation of Zuke and Mayday. He tries bribing them with toys and snacks up until his betrayal, after which he almost gets stabbed again before BBJ drag Ghost with them to stop the fans.

Zuke doesn’t let them draw their blade in the sewer or on the streets, normally, but he doesn’t necessarily ban them from sharps entirely. He can tell they know how to use them, though he opts to let them use a kitchen knife instead of the haphazard scrap of metal they’ve been swinging around on the streets.

Zam has attempted to conduct interviews with Ghost before, but finds himself mostly just perplexed at their answers. "Okay, I’m looking at what appear to be, uh, hieroglyphics of some kind. I can see something that kind of looks like a rhinoceros beetle head... They’re shaking their head ‘no.’” The little section where he interviews them is nicknamed Ghost Tour.

Comet

They were sleeping in DJ Subatomic Supernova’s apartment at the time of the battle, since he didn’t think he’d need their help. They’re too small to be asked for a whole lot, anyway; he mostly has them around to keep himself company and have someone to talk to (or at, as the case may be).

Their sound energy absorbing powers would probably be enough to deactivate some of NSR’s robots; it comes in handy when the rogue robots are getting in the way of reinstating their guardian as charter.

Their favorite stuffed animal is a toy dolphin that DJSS calls Delphinus, though Comet calls them Splashy when they learn how to write.

As they grow older, their horns begin pointing backward and eventually curling into a similar shape to ram’s horns.

DJSS secretly relishes in the opportunity to have a legacy in the form of taking care of Comet, though he doesn’t know that they are probably more likely to carry his name farther into the future than any drones he sends up to space.

Bunny

They live with Remi, the artist and leader of the Sayu team. He treats them much like a little sibling, in the nice way, and gets them to watch some of the more family-friendly anime he watches; they’re particularly fond of Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball Z, even if they keep dismantling the figures he gets them. They’re much gentler with the plushies, though.

It takes a few weeks of watching Dodo and Sofa work on machinery to get them learning how to build stuff as well as break it. They make it an entire thing when they grow older, working on machinery.

They eventually grow cheek spines, not unlike some depictions of the adult Ghost, and otherwise heavily resemble Hornet as an adult. Much taller than her, though.

Sayu’s kind of reluctant to attack Ghost because they resemble Bunny so much; “You’re too cute to fight!” Zuke doesn’t like the idea of Ghost acting like a trankil shield in fights, but it does help throw off her aim.

Thorn

Yinu’s mom specifically chose the former Broken Vessel because they were the only trankil that expressed any interest in Yinu’s infodumping about classical music. They even responded to questions with head shaking or nodding.

They come to Yinu’s side after her piano breaks, letting go of their fight with Ghost quickly enough; they don’t fault their sibling for doing what they thought was right, even if they don’t understand it, but they believed Yinu needed their support more.

They’re taking violin lessons, as it’s a touch easier to adjust to playing with four fingers on that then on piano. They get pretty good at it as an adult, though in the modern day their playing is a touch mediocre.

After their performance at Yinu’s concert, fighting in her defense with a stolen machete, Yinu’s mom at first grounds Thorn for stealing and playing with sharps, but concedes to put them in a fencing program to “get it out of their system.” They turn out a lot more competent than the instructors were expecting, and intimidate the crap out of their peers. When they’re older they take up a proper swordfighting class.

Yinu does wind up joining them in learning fencing, after her mother gets a recommendation to get her to get more exercise to avoid literally rooting herself to her piano (not an unusual issue for plant folks; they have to move pretty regularly or else they get stuck in one spot and have to be cut out). Her mom worries that she takes to it a touch too eagerly, perhaps because of her relative helplessness.

Thorn acts fairly stoic and polite most of the time, but they can be quite the handful when something piques their interest. They get banned from at least one Renaissance fair due to playing with the swords or poking the roasting pig. Yinu starts covering for them after they start bribing her with extra sweets.

Scotty

Neon J initially treated them like a trainee when he got them, but it quickly slipped into adopted child territory when he realized just how young they were. He did want kids back when he was human, so he took very quickly to the role of adoptive father.

Scotty is very good at learning language and patterns, so they wind up learning English writing pretty quickly for one of their kind. Because of this, Neon J becomes one of the few privy to the nature of the vessels, though he is uncharacteristically quiet about it.

1010 adores Scotty, occasionally posting about them on social media, making them a bit of a fandom darling, though the band does have to put out PSAs about not getting a trankil irresponsibly.

Scotty’s favorite food is cheese tarts and cheese danishes, which they tend to be awarded for good behavior.

Scotty is a very active child; they dance, they run around the mansion, they swim in the pool (and just about any fountain they run across, much to Neon J’s embarrassment), and they can’t be brought within 100 feet of a dog park without trying to pet every animal in the vicinity.

They try their best to comfort their adoptive dad when he’s suffering from phantom pains or flashbacks, though they don’t know the techniques very well. Their usual method is gently patting his hand or leaning against him (among vessels they’d be leaning against each other in large groups, leading to one big cuddle pile; they can’t do it here by themselves, but they’ll sure as hell try).

Much to Neon J’s embarrassment, they become quite the potty mouth (er, hands) when they get older. He’s a sailor, he slips up every now and then!

Riley

The former Greenpath Vessel is rather happy to leave behind the harsh life they lived back in Hallownest, though they find the most success in recounting their old life through art.

Eve tends to be a very dramatic teacher, but quite gentle with her little friend. She couldn’t have asked for a more enthusiastic student, though.

Eve’s quite protective of the little thing; she’s not quite as heartbroken about Zuke’s abandonment due to the company of her apprentice/adopted child, but the thought of them being taken away tends to scare her quite a bit. As such, she tends to spoil them rotten, though they’re still quite sweet.

Riley has a degree of PTSD from their experience in Hallownest; they’re very sensitive to sounds and movement in their peripheral, and have bitten and scratched people on more than one occasion for getting in their bubble without proper warning or consent. Eve’s pretty good about avoiding their blindspot and having her footsteps make noise they can track.

Eve’s among the first to learn about the Lord of Shades and the dream realm due to her teaching her magic painting to Riley. With her help, they created the Dark Mirror, which allows people to enter a sort of waking simulation of the dream realm, though it tends to seriously disorient people not accustomed to messing with reality (musicians tend to do fine, but normal folks? Not so much). It becomes a very useful communication tool when discussing Hallownest and how it functioned.

Sterling

The former Hollow Knight views themselves as deeply indebted to Tatiana, though also viewing her as a friend. She gave them a name, a new purpose, and an opportunity to live again without the constraints of their failed duty; of course they’re going to feel kind of guilty about it.

Only the NSR artists and a few select NSR personnel have seen them in person, and the first thing people tend to notice is their sheer size. Tatiana worries how much renovations will have to be done to accommodate the rest of their kin once they grow up, if they wind up matching their eldest sibling.

They tend to have a reasonably positive relationship with the artists, due to their kindness towards the vessels and generally respectful attitude towards the behemoth of a trankil.  DJSS tends to rant about space in their general direction as his idea of small talk, and they tolerate it. He also not so subtly squees when he sees Comet interacting with their elder sibling. Sayu’s team thinks they’re anime hero levels of cool, sword and all, and Bunny tends to agree, trying to challenge them to fight. Yinu’s mom tends to scrutinize them as reference for Thorn’s later growth, though Yinu herself and Thorn tend to climb the adult trankil like a tree for fun. Neon J respects them deeply as a knight and technical prince, though Scotty’s pretty content to try and get them to play when they visit. Eve appreciates their good manners and willingness to listen, and Riley rather likes showing them their drawings.

Tatiana tends to treat Sterling as something of a confidante, due to their quiet nature and strong sense of loyalty. She worries they idolize her a touch too much to be healthy, but knowing what she does about their past, she’s not sure if a human therapist would help.

The wings grew in a couple weeks before the Rock Revolution; evidently they hadn’t developed quite enough to develop them before they had been sealed, leading to serious back troubles during their fight before their rebirth. It was a pretty chaotic affair helping them through their last molt, considering the other trankil who’ve been molting had a lot less to shed.

Tatiana tends to scold Sterling for digging through her old rock cassettes, though she comes to regret it after the whole debacle with BBJ.

Sterling’s way more ruthless than Tatiana asks for or is fully aware of; they tend to take threats to their new life, siblings, and new companions very, very seriously, and god help the poor soul who convinces them to act. Kliff doesn’t last long after the Rock Revolution, because of this, not that anyone notices.

Misc

The vessels were united under the leadership of Ghost to create the Lord of Shades, and upon killing and absorbing the Radiance, they’ve essentially become the collective gods of the Dream Realm as well as the Void and probably Death too. The level of focus and cooperation needed to fully activate these powers is incredibly high, especially after the vessels begin developing individual personalities, so there won’t be any casual appearances of the Shade Lord any time soon.

Vessels don’t need to eat to grow for the first five or six years of their life, as they have a lot of soul energy stored in their bodies from birth to facilitate growth in the Abyss (their “yolk”), but once that’s expended they won’t grow any more until they gain a stable food source and a safe environment to molt, hence why Ghost spent such a long time being so small, despite being the same age as Sterling. While not eating won’t kill them, humans don’t know that.

The average height for an adult vessel is 8 feet, from the bottom of their feet to base of their horns, whereas a newly hatched vessel (like Comet) is about the size of a tennis ball curled up.

People who aren’t accustomed to the otherworldly presence of the trankil tend to freak out when they’re nearby; the sheer emptiness of their eyes, the expressionless faces, the inhuman size and proportions all give anybody not used to it the heebie-jeebies. Of course, Vinyl City locals stopped caring pretty shortly after they first got the trankil.
