The thing about Dracula is that it’s actually a pulp noir crime story.
The short con operator from the sticks comes to the big city to take a shot at running a long con. He’s aces at first, but then he meets the dame. The wrong dame, you dig? He gets on the bad side of the big bosses, but he just can’t give up the girl, and the bosses hire a button man to rub him out. He dies like a sap. Ashes to ashes.
Jim Thompson could have written this in an afternoon.

Det. Sgt. Mark Dixon: “Innocent people can get into terrible jams too.”
Det. Sgt. Mark Dixon always wanted to be something his old man wasn't: a guy on the right side of the law. But for a good guy, he's awfully vicious.

My Thoughts on the Monsters & Muses Series by Sav R. Miller
Sharing my thoughts on the Monsters & Muses series by Sav R. Miller, a dark romance series loosely inspired by various Greek mythologies.
For some reason, I thought I already wrote a review on this series: Monsters & Muses by Sav. R Miller, but I haven’t. I only wrote a review for Promise and Pomegranates and then did quick thoughts in my monthly round-ups whenever I read each of the remaining books. But since this series is technically finished now, I figured I would summarize my thoughts on this series.

#bookreview ~ The Girl in Room 12 by Kathryn Croft @KatCroft @bookouture @NetGalley #CloakDaggerChal #NGEW2024 #BookRec #bookpromo
My Thoughts
“The Girl in Room 12” is a thrilling story that keeps readers wondering until the end. The writer makes the reader nervous by showing how the main character, Max’s wife, gets increasingly worried and suspicious about her husband. The way of writing is simple and fast to read, making it a quick and fun time.
The story is about Alice, a young lady who died in strange circumstances. It…
