black wolf! miss black wolf!

here's another "character" i think about constantly and have never talked about.

black wolf is a major character in nomadic mythology. she was the first living spirit on cassandra, after cassandra itself. to ease her loneliness, cassandra made the animals on the moon for her. she loved them, but was still lonely because they couldnt talk to her. so cassandra made humans to talk to her and play with her.

what happens to black wolf depends on the person telling her story, but most end with her going beyond the mountains in the south.

she's usually played by a young woman or girl in their teens, and her costume includes a coat lined with pegasus feathers, a mask made of wood and painted leather, and a tail made from dog fur.

I may be a hopeless romantic overthinker, but do you guys ever think about the pet names?

I’m out of creative ideas due to attempting to write a pirate script, so we’re talking pet names.

Here are some of my favorites that I can remember from some of my favorite VAs. I know it may be cringe, but I don’t care. These are just ones that make me smile, melt, or laugh.

Notice: while I love nicknames like Yuurivoice’s Cass/Casper, Scythe Audio’s Demon Girl, or Escaped Audio’s Denny’s, this will be pet names and nothing that specific.

As of April 20th 2025,

We will no longer be referring to the Steve and Bucky ship as Stucky, We're gonna call them CaptainWolf.

In fact, I even like AmericanWinter better.

I mean there are so many more options that "Stucky". That just sounds juvenile.

not to be meta abt my rook and how i went abt creating them but there is something abt starting them solely with the idea of "you will have no relation to my warden and inquisitor, who are family and had almost a real-life decade of my life dedicated to developing their world" that really gets me going. like. from the very beginning you are on the outskirts. in-game, you were needed as someone new, someone out of the loop, and so narratively, your history is inconsequential. in-game, your backstory is murky at best, and so narratively, you will be by yourself until you find the people you will later be defined by. there is no intricate red string of fate weaving you into decades of families and history; you are the one on the outside who must be brought in. you have no family and thus the family of heroes that came before you will be folklore. you must learn what was inherent to them - what made them. you are thrust into a world that has already been crafted before you, and your creator has leaned into you being no one before your existence.

Fun observation:

Lamb is Raven if Raven learned to repress her trauma instead of lashing out (and using that trauma as an excuse to be a bad person because she didn't wanna deal with it but that's a rant for another post-)
