Pomefiore Character Songs and Associations

Finally getting this part posted! since Tumblr ate my post the first time... I love this website ((:

We now move onto the most historical dorm - Pomefiore. The three characters here are some of the most dramatic, all in different ways from each other. But what music may connect with the three most tenacious people on campus?

Notes: Every song is from my liked songs playlist (so feel free to judge me for my taste, haha!) and I only allowed myself to use an artist once for this project. There is also some strong language and mature themes in some of the songs, so be aware if you choose to listen to them. I’ve included: - A song that represents them - A song they’d listen to - and (for some) an additional song, depending on the character and circumstance

Vil Schoenheit

Represented by: Rock Me, Amadeus - Falco

I was a little apprehensive about using this song for Vil. While it does fit his character and vibes, it is a little bit... suggestive. Putting that aside, Vil is (at least most of) this song. He's a superstar, popular, dramatic ("has flair!"), and everyone finds him to be beautiful and perfect, despite his flaws. And he does have flaws, which he doesn't want to address. I also headcanon that he has Austrian / German ancestry (or whatever the Twisted Wonderland equivalent is).

Listens to: Jackie and Wilson - Hozier

Again, I don't know why, but I believe Vil would listen to Hozier.  Vil would probably like the atmosphere created in Hozier's music.  And he'd appreciate Hozier's vocal tone and colour. I can't explain it further, but I think he'd really, really like it!

Epel Felmier

Represented by: Autotheist - Baby Bugs

Epel has some struggles with who he is. He's trying to figure out who he is within his personality, appearance, and identity. He feels a lot of pressures from others trying to shape who he is, how he looks, how he acts, and what he thinks. He's trying to find a place for himself, and he is angry about not having found it yet.

Listens to: That Turbulent Uneasy Feeling - D.O.A.

Epel would like fast-paced, aggressive music, that he can just feel. I think he would especially enjoy songs that criticize the mainstream social norms that he feels stifled by - hardcore punk would be his go-to genre. I can imagine him listening to this in his room after fighting with Vil... again. This song also represents his character well, actually!

Rook Hunt

Represented by: Prince Charming - Adam & the Ants

Rook is flamboyant. He is theatrical. And he, above almost all else, supports others in becoming their most beautiful selves. As such, the message of the song reflects Rook's motivations and thoughts. Additionally, the theatricality and subtle notes of violence of the group mirrors Rook's character beautifully. (Rook would also without a doubt listen to this, and other songs by Adam and the Ants. He is simply too dramatic not to!)

Listens to: Goodbye & Hello - Tim Buckley

Rook would simply adore the poetry of this song, and in fact, most of Tim Buckley's music. He would spend time listening, absorbing, and analyzing the lyrics, music, and history of the song. It also has an almost... historical, European-esque(?) feel to the instrumentation and musical lines that would highly appeal to him.

Bonus - Also listens to: All I Ask of You (Phantom of the Opera)

One of Rook's hobbies is going to theatre productions, and he would have just loved the grandeur and the tragedy and the heart of The Phantom of the Opera. I'm certain that he would consider "All I ask of You" to be an absolutely beautiful declaration of love and commitment, and would likely be one of his favourite musical theatre pieces.

Dei ragazzi evasi dal Beccaria, uno aveva raggiunto degli amici a Sesto San Giovanni, in una piazza intitolata ai Marinai d'Italia; insieme ascoltavano un po' di musica, con una cassa portatile. Di che musica si trattasse i giornali non lo dicono.

Un altro, nei giorni scorsi, era stato subito trovato perché si era recato a casa della madre della sua compagna. Pare che la polizia sia andata a colpo sicuro, certa di trovarlo lì.

Un altro ancora era tornato proprio a casa sua, così la famiglia per qualche ora lo ha accolto e nascosto, poi la sorella gli ha suggerito di costituirsi e di non tardare troppo.

Il quarto dei ritrovati, invece, era dalla zia.

A CHIUNQUE TU SARAI:

Ho sempre avuto voglia di cose semplici, prima ancora di sapere cosa volessi. Nelle relazioni c’è chi si aspetta grandi regali, viaggi, borse costose, ciò che ho sempre voluto io era un bacio nelle giornate in cui mi sentivo invisibile. Un bacio rubato sotto il portone, una “buonanotte, ti penso” scritto alle 3 del mattino. Ho sempre voluto cose semplici, come un pomeriggio passato al parco a giocare con le tue mani, e poi tu che passi una mano tra i miei capelli e mi dici che è tutto okay. Una camminata mano nella mano per ricordarmi che in due tutto fa meno paura. Organizzare un viaggio, prenotare l’albergo, baciarti in ogni posto nuovo che visiteremo, così resteremo lì anche quando saremo andati via. Volevo cose semplici. Prepararti la cena la sera quando tutto il mondo pesa, ma casa tua è un rifugio. Poterti raccontare con entusiasmo ciò che mi rende felice, e vedere che sei felice anche tu, perché i miei traguardi sono anche i tuoi. Cose semplici, parlare con un bicchiere di vino bianco in mano e un vinile in sottofondo, guardarti e sentirmi grata, per te, per noi. A chiunque tu sia, sii paziente con me, ho ancora delle cose irrisolte nel cuore, ma so amare bene. Abbi pazienza perché molto spesso avrò paura, ma l’unica cosa di cui avrò bisogno sarà qualcuno che mi sostenga, e mi dica che andrà tutto bene e che posso farcela. Sii paziente perché alcune volte mentre cammineremo in strada, probabilmente mi scenderà qualche lacrima, perché vedrò due anziani camminare mano nella mano, o perché un’artista di strada sta cantando una canzone con una chitarra e sentirò una stretta al cuore. 25 giugno

Quest'anno i girasoli non sono ancora fioriti – a pochi giorni dal compleanno di mamma ne si rubava due per portarli alla reggia, tipo cuore di cerbiatto di biancaneve.

Sono venuta verso il mare ed erano tutti verdi, erano presto, erano tutti ancora un altro po'.

Distesa smeraldo al vento agitatissimo del mare, mare ispido sotto tempesta. Non ho trovato pace manco lì, pure questo è un caso eccezionale, l'ho trovata però a una stazione di paese nel sottopassaggio nel tempo della controra; pace la trovi dove lo spaziotempo ti assomiglia, non nelle palme, non nell'abitudine, imparo ora.

Ho accompagnato mia sorella al binario verso Roma, sono arrivata tardi, siamo scese tardi da casa, abbiamo accumulato minuti di ritardo, il biglietto non era fatto, tardi era tardi, è tardi diceva babbo, i binari son solo tre e non c'è fila, se non di lucertole lemme lemme al sole della campagna, ma era tardi comunque. Babbo non guida in convalescenza con gli occhi, e come gatto in gabbia vedeva già il treno perduto.

Abbiamo corso a gambette nude col il sapore del caffè ancora chiaro. lei comprava il biglietto alla macchinetta e io con le valigie mi spostavo al binario 3. il treno arriva, lei ancora non c'è, il treno si ferma son ancora io con in mano le sue borse e gli zaini, le persone scendono io prendo tempo appoggio una valigia nel vagone, prendo tempo un piede di là un piede di qua, Ale arriva Ale arriva ti prego il puntino controllore lo vedo laggiù che mi guarda che mi biasima farò tardare tutti i treni d'italia, fingo di incespicare prendo tempo, Ale arriva si tuffa dentro lanciamo le valigie lanciamo i baci e la porta si chiude Ciao amor ce l'abbiamo fatta! Il treno parte. i fiori per domani li raccoglierò ora penso andrò a cercare i girasoli, cincischio nelle scale dal binario tre, le risalgo dall'altra parte, con la lentezza che viene dopo la fretta, e la feritoia della luce che divide in due gli scalini. Su uno scalino e poi su un altro più basso stanno due bicchieri di estathè vuoti, dondolano al venticello delle 15. Sembriamo io e mia sorella, due estati catapultate nell'orario delle partenze degli arrivederci. Li ho fotografati, giochini struggenti che in un modo o nell'altro ce la fanno, con il frizzantino delle cannucce come frecce per andare. Mentre inquadravo la foto, dall'alto degli scalini è spuntato babbo, con la sua t-shirt da casa, e la bottiglia di acqua di mia sorella in mano, corso alla stazione, vuota, solo noi, sperando di fare in tempo: — Si è scordata questa! 

Ci vedi come siamo, due bicchierini di estathè in una stazione vuota d'estate, e una bottiglietta d'acqua lucida dimenticata a casa ma che manco quella si può scordare, la portiamo fin dove deve stare, corriamo incontro per fare in tempo per fare tutto per cucirci assieme, occhi di cassandra piè veloci e teste per aria, a cercare il giallo nei girasoli in tua assenza, terrena.
