Red and Duck killing any threat to their kids and Yellow being somehow nonaffected byt it is so funny udfusfisfiocdsmc
Red and Duck: *kill SHRIGNOLD*
Yellow: This is a completly normal reaction
Pink: *unaware*
Green: I feel like this isn't normal, but everyone else is acting like it is, and honestly I don't care enough to question it.
Green: It is what it is
Red and Duck defaulting to murder even after the simulation calms down is prime for angst but I'm ignoring that rn and focusing on the comedy <3
I imagined that Yellow is so used to Roy (and his unbothered tendency to murder and consume an entire family within earshot of Yellow) and the teachers violence, and also Yellow himself literally killed the Coffin, and inadvertently killed Choo Choo by drinking all his oil, so the kid is no stranger to death. Pink is less used to overt violence but she's no stranger to fucked up situations, so Green is the only one left to be like "Alright. What's all this then."

tracking down data on personality disorders in schizophrenia
From article on personality disorders in first-episode psychosis (from an early intervention program in Scandinavia):
Schizoid (38%), avoidant (34%) and paranoid (28%) personality disorders were the most common personality disorders in the semi-structured inter-view. The MCMI-II personality disorder (BR >84) most prominent profiles showed 12 avoidant (38%) and nine schizoid (28%) personality disorders. Slightly less prevalent were the seven borderline (22%) and the six schizotypal (19%) disorders. The paranoid was rare (3%).
The main findings of this study are that half of the TIPS patients with schizophrenia met the criteria for two or more personality disorders, while one-third had no personality disorder. Schizoid and avoidant personality disorders were found to be the most frequent personality disorders present among first-onset psychotic patients when using both semi-structured and self-report instruments. The MCMI schizotypal and avoidant personality dimensions were associated with increasing social difficulties from childhood to adolescence, and the MCMI schizotypal personality dimension was associated with poorer childhood academic level.
From an article about ipseity disturbance in BPD:
The data support the hypothesis that disturbance of the basic sense of self is not associated with borderline personality pathology in a UHR sample. This is consistent with the notion that basic self-disturbance indicates specific vulnerability to schizophrenia spectrum pathology and that self-disturbance in BPD is of a different type. This points towards the complexity of the construct of ‘the self’. The distinction between different types of self-disturbance (i.e. disturbances of different levels of selfhood) needs to be recognized and carefully assessed in clinical and research contexts. An example of this is the issue of dissociative experience. In BPD, dissociative experiences commonly occur in a transient fashion in response to stress, that is, as a means of coping with immediate stressors. In contrast, the dissociation associated with the basic self-disturbance seen in schizophrenia spectrum conditions involves a more pervasive distancing from and observation of immediate experience (and concomitant lack of first-person perspective or ‘ownership’ of experience). Similarly, the sense of ‘emptiness’ of the self evident in BPD derives from the lack of a coherent and continuous identity, whereas the ‘emptiness’ in basic self-disturbance can stem from lack of immersion in or engagement with immediate experience (disturbed ‘presence’, as captured in Stanghellini’s terms ‘disembodied spirit’ and ‘deanimated body’) or from the sense of a more fundamental existential difference from others (see section 2.1 of the EASE).
A study of psychotic symptoms in BPD:
We excluded BPD patients who had a preexisting clinical diagnosis of nonaffective psychosis. Three patients in our sample could nevertheless have been considered to have met DSM-IV criteria for schizophrenia (10% of all 30 cases interviewed). This is in line with a previous study of 111 patients with BPD, in which 19 (17%) met DSM criteria for schizophrenia (Kingdon et al., 2010). Individuals with schizophrenia and comorbid BPD have been reported to have poorer long-term outcome (Bahorik and Eack, 2010).
Despite looking for studies on personality in schizophrenia, it's a lot easier to find studies that go the other way around (and given the priorities in research in general, most of those were BPD)

50. Rant about a song or album or blog post or whatever that you think is great or interesting or maybe extremely terrible. I don't care, just pick something Goats-related you have thoughts on and go ham.
okay so getting into knives *shakes it* tells the story about the narrator who has some terrible crime committed against them and spends decades trying to track down the person who did it, the song ends with them knocking on the door of the perpetrator, so we don’t actually know how this journey ends. ‘hunting down someone who wronged you’ is a common theme in tmg songs but this song is entirely different than you would expect from that story- it has very light instrumentation, mostly piano and bass, and the lyrics are all sung in a sort of nonaffected way it drives me INSANE. in particular the repeated lyric ‘im getting into knives’ which SOUNDS like it would be this horrible deadly thing is more of like, a personal mantra. its repeated over and over, and i love the delivery with the lyric ‘now here we are 30 years later / but im getting into knives!’ because the narrator is justifying this themselves- look i may have spent 30 years trying to find this person and found nothing and wasted my entire life and im nowhere but it’s fine because look, im getting into knives! it’s ok! im getting into knives! it’s this sort of lonely desperation that really just gets to me.

Today I learned that the standard British English pronunciation of bona fide is Boh-nuh FYE-dee and I was agog.
(for my British followers, standard nonaffected/nonpretenious American English is Boh-nuh-fyed)
(for anyone wanting to say the BE pronunciation is 'right' the Latin pronunciation is Boh-nuh FEE-day)

The observation that higher rates of schizophrenia and other nonaffective psychotic disorders are associated with city living is robustly replicated across epidemiologic studies conducted throughout Northern Europe and North America.1 The weight of this evidence, combined with exhaustive investigations of potential bias, suggest that methodological artifacts are unlikely to explain such associations. Instead, they imply a causal role for underlying environmental factors more common in urban settings. Evidence from northern Europe strongly links social factors, including deprivation, inequality, and social isolation, to raised rates of nonaffective psychotic disorders in urban settings,1 and while mechanisms through which such factors influence psychosis remain uncharacterized, they may include effects of social stress and possibly exposure to socially distributed biological factors, such as poor nutrition, infections, and/or pollutants.

Someone showed me a post from a syscourse blog (which I shall not name or link) that was all like, "how many endos have downplayed their trauma as 'not that bad', for real?"
Like...the group that sent us that, or at least back when they thought they were endogenic?
Like us-Shea, even though we're definitely endogenic. (I know why we're median, and it's not trauma. Unless you count "every part of yourself not really liking the other parts" as trauma.) I mean, took us till we were 27 or so to admit that what we went through was even traumatic at all. And now at 31 we're in therapy for PTSD stemming from one particularly awful instance of child abuse we went through (and the two years of severe neglect we went through that lead up to that incident.)
It's still something we-Shea kinda downplay. It was bad, sure. It left its marks. But we're mostly OK. It doesn't rule my life. It interferes with some things, mostly my relationship with food which is a pretty substantial part of anyone's life. But most of the time, most days it doesn't have any effect. And there are others out there with the opposite proportions of affected vs nonaffected time, and for whom the effect is worse.
So. We have. We still do, to a lesser extent. We know others who have. It's definitely a thing that happens, idk why some folks gotta be like "lol no it don't, I've never seen it therefore it doesn't happen."

Quote
And it’s sad to know that no one will hardly remember the girl that killed herself in Senior Year, and if they do it’ll be when they’re warning their daughters to never love a boy so much that it’ll come to that. Sometimes, I wonder if that’ll happen with us because every night you rip me apart with your words rather than your fists. And if I was to die by your own hands, the words that you throw at me like daggers would impale me faster than any blade. I don’t want to romanticize how horrible it is for a girl to write a suicide note like a love letter but here I am and this is my love - spilling out of my veins from the ink in my wrists and heart. A year ago, I wrote you a love letter and you taped it to your refrigerator. Today, I write to you a love letter and it will be taped to the closest wall that I can reach.

Refugees at Higher Risk of Psychosis and Mental Illness
Tumblr media
MedicalResearch.com Interview with: Lasse Brandt, M.D. and Jonathan Henssler, M.D. Charité University Medicine Berlin, Germany MedicalResearch.com: What is the background for this study? Response: Migration has increased globally and the effect of migration on health is highly relevant for clinicians, particularly in mental health. There is no increase in the risk for nonaffective psychosis in the home countries of migrants, so environmental factors could be of key importance. Refugees are often subjected to inhuman conditions. While migration has repeatedly been identified and confirmed as a risk factor for psychosis, the impact of refugee experience on this risk of psychosis was unclear.  MedicalResearch.com: What are the main findings?  Response: In this systematic review and meta-analysis of 9 studies, refugees were at a higher relative risk of developing nonaffective psychoses compared with the native population in Western host countries and nonrefugee migrants.  MedicalResearch.com: What should readers take away from your report? Response: Refugee experience appears to be an independent risk factor for nonaffective psychosis in migrants. This finding supports the need for targeted psychiatric prevention strategies and outreach programs for the vulnerable group of refugees. MedicalResearch.com: What recommendations do you have for future research as a result of this work? Response: Register-based studies from countries with different social, economic, and political characteristics appear to be needed to further assess the generalizability of the findings from the present study. Importantly, more investigations are needed to assess the full range of mental disorders in refugees and the mechanisms of their incidence, prevention, and treatment in this cohort.
