I just think that what mcr did at the wwwy fest is beyond words, but I'm going to try anyway.

As a self proclaimed emo, I naturally feel nostalgia towards the 2000s emo culture, with the release of three cheers and the black parade albums, with fall out boy, with paramore, all of the songs with lyrics now written in our hearts being new. I feel incredibly nostalgic, but the interesting thing is that I'm nostalgic for an era I was barely alive to see. I'm a 2000s kid, I was less than a year old when three cheers was released. But I feel nostalgic towards it, I feel like things would have been better if I was born earlier to experience it.

But what MCR have done is they have said, to the media, to nostalgia, to the corporations bringing emo back for profit, not for sub-culture, is a big, total "FUCK YOU". And I think that's beautiful.

See, what my chemical romance is, and will always be, is something that you don't understand. That you can't quite grasp. Every time you think you know them, and decide who they are, they will do something so batshit to say "No. That's not us, we are whatever the fuck we want to be and we are proud of it." They did this in each era. They eyeshadow, they kissed each other, they wore all black, they wore bright colours and sang about a comic they made. They faked their fucking death.

So they wore their Revenge era outfits to the when we were young fest. This is already tongue in cheek, wearing something from when they were young to a nostalgia trip of a festival. But then adding in the prosthetics. Bringing you back to the present. Reminding yourself that that's not where you are anymore, the past cannot come back. And that's a good thing. Because they played all their hits, none of the niche stuff the mcrmy has a passion for. They didn't talk between songs and played the band they were supposed to be, pigeon-holed into for the longest time. So much so that it was killing them, it's why they split up. Because if they didn't, if they stayed the way they were told they were supposed to be, they would have ended up dead (evident by their outfits, particularly mikey, I haven't seen a single photo of his outfit and I heard that he was covered in blood, no prosthetics, which can be read into as something bad happening to him, leaving him to die young, which would have been the harsh reality if they pushed themselves into this).

My Chemical Romance has always and will always tell you who they are, which will always be the opposite of what people tell them to be. And right now, the media is making them into some sort of glorified revival band, but that's not it. They're just them. They don't want the fucking nostalgia to take them back to a place that nearly killed them. They never wanted to be pigeon-holed into being emo, even speaking out about hating the stereotype (which changed so much from what it was when they were growing up, it shifted into some kind of store-bought ripped jeaned teens with a passion for razor blades instead of angst souls surviving through music) and yet the same stereotype--which was once protested as being anti-religious, propaganda, a suicide cult and more--is being paraded around as a nostalgic gem to be worshipped. A trend. And you bet your ass that ray toro, mikey way, frank iero and gerard way are going to shit on all of that.

It was never about the money. The hits. The costumes. The crowds. It was about saving lives by being yourself, and looking into the past, reminiscing over how things were through the rose-tinted lens of time, isn't going to save anyone. It's going to leave you without anything in the present. You have to evolve. And bullshitting yourselves into being something you're not, or believing the grass was greener is only bullshitting yourself. It's not rebellion, it's suicide. The exact thing my chem is trying to stop. The haunting prosthetics serve as a reminder that while it's fun to revisit the past, you cannot stay that way. You have to carry on.

"i can't keep quiet anymore. i have to talk shit. so black dresses' version of pink panther is really good, right? but i went and listened to the scene queen original bc i was curious. i don't like scene queen but i figured: it's a well-written song, i'll give her another shot. and oh good god black dresses improved that song by SO MUCH. took it from like a 4 to a 9 by turning it from a punk wannabe tiktok cisbian smirkfest to a certified banger preaching the word of gross toxic trans sex. no i'm not projecting don't be silly"

Steve Lacy - Bad Habit: this might be the first song to feature on more than one WILT and that's because i fucking love this song. this is without a doubt my pop hit of the year. it's breezy, funny, cozy, loving, and just the right amount of cheeky. good shit baybee

Insane Clown Posse - Hokus Pokus: i've finally done it. i've finally gotten into icp. they're goofy as shit and the music is dogshit but it's just... a lot of fun! and kind of cathartic, listening to some weird clowns talk about all the terrible things they're gonna do to the shitbags of society but without any sense of righteousness. idk this is too many words to dedicate to icp but i'm just having a hard time explaining what has finally grabbed me about them

Kendrick Lamar - King Kunta: holy shit talk about a song that makes your jaw drop from first listen. every second of this (and the whole album) is so tight and purposeful. probably one of the greatest records of my lifetime. can you tell that rateyourmusic account is getting to me

Laura Les - ditch a body in the laundry (feat. Dylan Brady): INSANE FUCKING SONG. put that shit in my veins for real. this is probably my second favorite laura les ep, after "i just don't wanna name it anything with 'beach' in the title". unfortunately, none of this stuff is on spotify, the greyed out version you'll see in the playlist is my own local file from bandcamp. but it's on the youtube list!

The Beach Boys - Caroline, No - Mono/Remastered: i've gotten into the beach boys within the past six months or so and... it just gets you, y'know? and like i think a lot of people who only know the hits have this impression of the band as this annoyingly peppy pop band but like. brian wilson. there's some real dark shit to be found, and the absolute numb tragedy of this song just really stuck with me

Black Dresses - Kill All Your Friends: these covers!! damn!!! when this dropped i didn't dare to dream it would be a mcr cover, i just figured they had picked the same title for an original by coincidence. but ohhh was i in for a surprise. i think it was a perfect selection of song, and it hits in all the right ways to maintain the breathy desperation of the original while putting the signature black dresses sonic cocaine all throughout

Spin Doctors - Cleopatra's Cat: weirdass song. like i said last month, i've been into the spin doctors since their trainwreckords episode, and i've always had kind of an admiration for this song. it's so ambitious, and just fun in a way that's both silly and complex. it finally clicked for me eventually and now i walk around all day doing the little scatting thing from the "hook"

Savage Garden - I Want You: i'll be real i don't know shit about savage garden but this track bangs. i found this in the black dresses inspirations playlist and it just took immediately. i love the y2k era, almost kind of boy band energy from it, would definitely check out more of this band's stuff

Sam Smith & Kim Petras - Unholy: there are a lot of things to be said about this song but i'll keep this really brief. one, it's cool to see trans artists get a number one hit. two, the hook is really really really fucking good. that will be all

Brian David Gilbert - Tragedy: i felt really strongly about bdg's first halloween parody ep from last year, i kept listening to it long after halloween and it even made it onto the latest favorite album ranking. i don't feel nearly as strongly about this one, but it's still enjoyable. significantly, i've actually never heard the bee gee's original of this one, so the catchiness of it is new to me in this cover version. happy halloween!

chipmunks on 16 speed - Call Me: same thing as ditch a body with the local files here. imo this is the best chipmunks on 16 speed track, everything about it aligns just right and makes it feel like this is how the song is meant to be listened to. i know it's really just a novelty but, as i believe i've sufficiently proved, i am 100% willing to take novelties completely seriously

Fetty Wap - 679 (feat. Monty): apparently this became a tiktok song at some point? i have remained blissfully unaware of this fact until making this list. this one is just a nostalgia banger, funnily enough because of its popularity on places like vine. confession: i really did think that the lyric was "i got the soda" bc of that one danny gonzalez vine. happy soda saturday

THE END. - AS IT IS / THE GREAT DEPRESSION.

what a good way to start this list, and what a perfect ending to this album. The Great Depression in its whole is incredible-- dare i say a masterpiece-- but this song stands out to me because it manages to be angry and defeated and almost uncomfortable. i mean, that bridge? come on! i can’t wait to listen to new music from As It Is, such a talented group of people i’ll miss Ben and Foley tho :(

GOODBYE - BILLIE EILISH / WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP WHERE DO WE GO?

what can i say? i’m a sucker for a good reprise. one of my favorite things about this album is that it’s a very cohesive piece of artwork even though all the tracks seemed to be stand-alone singles. this last track is the perfect example of that as it is the sum up of the greatest hits of each song. i just love it. i think it’s a pretty clever way to finish an album.

i mean, this song ends so epically, please. and i only put this one because it’s my favorite one, but “Powerless” and “Sharp Edges” are also strong album closers. i mean, i still can’t listen to “Sharp Edges” without breaking down in tears. i miss you, Chester :(

ok, technically a hidden track BUT it’s still the song that closes the album. and if you don’t like it then we can totally talk about “I Changed My Name” because it’s my favorite fucking song in the whole world, so-- 

TWENTY ØNE PILØTS

bare with me here, because all-- and i mean every single fucking one of them-- of  twenty øne piløts’ album closers are fire. quiet fire, but fire nonetheless. from “Isle Of Flightless Birds” to “Leave The City”, look me in the eye and tell me none of them have you in tears by the end. i love how Tyler excels at ending an album on a bittersweet and sad yet hopeful tone consistently. ahh, i love this band so fucking much, so much talent.

I FELT YOUNGER WHEN WE MET - WATERPARKS / FANDOM

and we’re back at closing the post with a Waterparks song. and from the same album, no less! such a strong song to end Fandom with, for fucks sake! the abrupt ending, the looping back to “Cherry Red”... boi, yas. love it. i think the fact that this song loops back to the very beginning of the album is one of the most clever things Awsten has ever done (yet).

HONORABLE MENTIONS!

“Men Are All The Same” by The Used from their album Artwork. speaking of reprises... aahh... so good. this album is so fucking flawless through and through, man... i love the whole thing so much. i feel like The Used is such a huge band but we still not talk about them enough.

“exist” by Bleak Soul (aka: Ben Langford-Biss, ex-As It Is) from album existential meditation. is it an EP? technically? idk, no one cares. speaking of me crying to a song. my favorite thing about this song being the closing track is that at first listen it seems to be very happy and makes you think, ‘oh, great! so the album isn’t that depressing after all!’ and then you pay attention to the lyrics and you realize it’s probably the most depressing song on the album, EP, whatever. i fucking love it.

speaking of EPs... “Burned Out” by dodie, Human EP. listen, i’m serious about this girl. she’s so fucking talented. she deserves more attention!!! ugh, can’t wait for her debut album to drop in March. but back to the song, it’s the perfect contrast to “Arms Unfolding”, that starts all hopeful and bright; “Burned Out” ends out on a very sour note. but the lyrics are something that needed to be said, not only for dodie’s own personal story but also to portray a view from the artist’s perspective of what meet&greets and just what being a public figure in general feels like.

“Starting Over” by Evan Taubenfeld from unreleased album Just Sign Here... i mean. this man just gets me, but aside from that. stunning album closer.

“Born For This”, Paramore, Riot! talk about getting hyped by the end of an album, amirite? love that they used to open shows with this track. and speaking of Paramore: “Tell Me How“ from After Laughter. again, perfect contrast to the beginning of the album. love that.

and last but not least... “How Did I Fall In Love With You?” by Backstreet Boys from album Black & Blue. Howie D. belting, need i say more? didn’t think so. but given i’m here... the harmonies, the fact that it’s just piano and strings (my weakness in case you haven’t noticed). also, the song is about falling in love with your best friend and i’m a fucking sucker for a good love story.

Hey guys!

So I’m currently on vacation! My family and I are doing a cross country trip! For reference, I live on the east coast and had never ventured away from the east coast. This has now obviously changed and among our many stops was LA. While there my dad and I decided that it was crucial we stopped by the iconic Amoeba Music located on Hollywood Boulevard.

I did my fair share of shopping around, got some cool stuff, and overall had an epic experience. So, I figured I’d talk about it on here!

THE STORE

Here’s the store itself just chilling on the corner living it’s best life. It’s not super grand or anything from the outside, you get most of that wow factor when you walk inside. Still super cool though and they had some super chill employees hanging out right outside the door to welcome people in and chat with the customers.

When you first walk in to the store this is what you’re greeted by! It’s this awesome, colorful, record mural with those nice LED lights in it. I didn’t take anymore pictures once inside, but it was huge! There were rows and rows of records, cassettes, CDs, band tees, and equipment for listening. It was crazy and there was so much stuff to look through! If it wasn’t for the limited time we had due to the parking meter, I could’ve spent forever in there just looking through everything.

ARCTIC MONKEYS - FAVOURITE WORST NIGHTMARE

First of the many records I got today is Favourite Worst Nightmare by the Arctic Monkeys! I got one Arctic Monkeys album a couple of months ago (Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not) and now I’m on a mission to get all of their albums. Needless to say, I was super excited to stumble across this one at Amoeba.

MELANIE MARTINEZ - CRY BABY

I wasn’t even planning on this one but when I saw at the store I couldn’t say no! This album was my favorite in 6th grade and I was such a hardcore Melanie fan then. This album and Melanie herself is so iconic and I knew I had to get it.

They had a really epic graphic tee section. Some of which were for various musical artists while others were for the store itself. They had so many too!

I ended up going for this simple, black, logo tee with this super cute pink logo in the center. I think it’s adorable and I’m so looking forward to styling it back home.

As I was chilling in line I spotted the pins display and took a quick look at that too. I ended up grabbing a little rainbow pin with the Amoeba Music logo in the center. Once I’m home I plan to put this on my denim jacket that I’m currently trying to fill with cool pins and patches. It’s definitely going to be a really cool addition to my jacket. A Long Way Back - Part 1 of 2

Author’s Note: This request asked for current Gerard with a singer who is younger and to be honest, I started this request immediately when I got it, but I’ve been picking it up and putting it down on and off since then. I was inspired by His Smile Will Keep You Safe by @xxfanfiction-emo-trinityxx and I Know I’ll Lose by @sunsetinmyvein ​and while this story is nowhere near as long as their stories, I hope that you guys enjoy it regardless. I’ve also thrown together a playlist if you’re interested as well

“We are Garden of Woe and don’t you ever forget it! Thank you Milwaukee!” (YN) shouted as the band hit their final notes and the lights went out. The crowd was cheering and (YN) felt that addicting mix of adrenaline and exhaustion that she always felt after an amazing show.

“That show was sick!” Liam the guitarist raved and (YN) nodded enthusiastically as she took a swig from her water bottle on the way backstage.

“Hey guys, great show as usual,” their manager Clark grinned when they walked in the dressing room. “Can I get your attention for a second?”

(YN) looked at her bandmates, a look of confusion shared amongst them. “What’s going on?”

“I didn’t wanna tell you guys before the show and have yall be in your heads, but” he paused. “You’ve been asked to open for My Chemical Romance on their US reunion tour.”

(YN) thought she was about to either faint, puke, or die on the spot. “Clark don’t fuck with us.”

“I’m not fucking with you.”

“Oh my god, this is, oh my god,” Jake the drummer muttered, a far away look in his eyes as Rebecca the bass player just stood there with a shocked look on her face.

(YN) sunk down on the couch, legs unable to support her anymore. “I had just hoped to get tickets to one of those shows,” she said with an astonished laugh, holding her head in her hands.

“Well if you accept, you’re gonna be going to every show, getting paid to be there, and getting more exposure than you ever could dream of,” Clark replied.

“I think I speak for everyone when I say hell yes!” Liam exclaimed, the rest of the band agreeing instantly.

“Then it’s settled, I’ll get in touch with their management tomorrow morning and you better get ready because you’re about to go on a wild ride.”

To (YN) it felt like an instant and an eternity at the same time before Garden of Woe departed for the first stop of the MCR reunion tour. A lot of buzz had been building around their band since it was announced that they, along with Taking Back Sunday for the first half of the tour and Crystal Lake Cemetery for the second half, would be opening the shows.

“Are you so stoked Becs? Are you? Are you?!” Liam shouted, shaking Rebecca’s shoulders excitedly as their bus rolled down the highway.

“If you keep doing that I’m going to barf on you,” Rebecca snapped back. 

Everyone’s nerves had been on edge since Clark had told them the news and arguments had been erupting about things like the setlist, or what their merch would look like, and the tension only seemed to grow the closer they got to the start of the tour. Rebecca wouldn't even return (YN)'s calls for a week over a debate about what they should be wearing on stage. 

“Oh my god Liam, I say this with all the love in the world, but please shut the fuck up,” (YN) muttered.

Liam, with his endless energy, bounced across the tour bus to where (YN) was sitting and climbed onto her lap. “You! This is literally what you’ve been talking about since you were 16 years old! This is why we formed Garden of Woe, why we’ve been struggling and starving for a decade!”

“I know, but you’re never gonna see the stage if you keep bugging everyone like this,” (YN) retorted to her friend in her lap.

“What are you gonna say when you finally meet them?”

“Will we even meet them?” (YN) asked, trying to sound aloof. She had been trying not to think about actually meeting the band that she had been obsessed with and saved her life when she was a depressed teenager back in 2004. When she and Liam founded Garden of Woe, she modeled her stage presence on Gerard’s after watching hours of live performance videos. When My Chem announced they were getting back together back on Halloween 2019, (YN) cried tears of joy for hours and they did an extra encore of just MCR covers at their show that night.

“We’re gonna be on the road with them for two months, of course we are,” Jake replied.

(YN) groaned. “I can’t deal with this right now,” she grumbled, pushing Liam off her before climbing into her bunk.

A while later Clark was calling her name to come out as they had arrived at the first venue. “Alright, here is the itinerary: you guys have soundcheck at 5:30, doors are at 6:30, you’re on at 7:30. After your set, you should get to the main merch booth to sign things for the fans, but you can watch Taking Back Sunday and My Chem if you’d prefer. Then two hours after My Chem finishes, we load back in and it’s on to the next stop.”

(YN) glanced at her phone, it was just before 2 PM, which meant they had hours before their soundcheck. Hours to build up more nervous energy, to possibly run into My Chem or Taking Back Sunday, another band she’d looked up to for just as long.

The bus rolled to a stop and they grabbed the things they’d need for the show that night and headed inside. There were other big black busses already parked outside and roadies moving things around.

“This is real, this is really real. This is the biggest thing we’ve ever done and we’re really here,” Rebecca said, totally astonished as (YN) linked arms with her. 

“I’m really trying not to think about it,” (YN) replied. Even from the back of the stadium they could hear the crowd already waiting out front. When they got to the door, they flashed their badges and were escorted to their dressing room.

“Do we just wait here? Can we go walk around? I wanna go check everything out,” Liam babbled excitedly.

“How much coffee did you drink today, dude?” (YN) asked, trying to keep the nerves out of her voice.

“None. Come on, let’s get out there and meet our tourmates! Who is with me? (YN), Jake, Becs?”

Rebecca rolled her eyes. “I’m gonna try to calm down and center myself and not piss off the people who are employing us.”

“I’ll go,” Jake replied.

“Yea me too, get it over with,” (YN) mumbled. She’d met so many people touring and opening for bands she looked up to that it shouldn’t make her nervous, but Gerard, Mikey, Ray and Frank were legendary. The three bandmates started to wander the halls, peeking in doors until they heard people talking. 

“Is this happening? Are we about to meet them?” (YN) looked at Liam, her heart hammering.

“Come on,” he said, grabbing her elbow and leading the way. “‘Scuse me, sorry to interrupt, but we wanted to introduce ourselves. We are Garden of Woe.”

“Hey, nice to finally meet you guys, I’m Gerard,” Gerard said, getting up to shake their hands. Jake and Liam introduced themselves like normal humans, but (YN) was screaming internally.

“I’m (YN),” she squeaked, and Gerard gave her an amused smile and she was certain her brain melted. Then all the sudden she was introducing herself to Mikey, Frank, and Ray as well and it was as if she had transcended to another plane of existence. She listened as they easily made conversation with Jake and Liam, but she couldn’t put together a coherent thought to join in.

“Are you ok?” she heard someone asking. Shaking her head to pull herself out of her thoughts, she realized it was Gerard.

“Yea, yea, thanks, just kinda overwhelmed by everything that’s going on,” she admitted.

Gerard nodded. “Yea, being back in the tour life has been kinda weird. Overwhelming, like you said.”

“For sure. And I don’t wanna seem like, I dunno, a crazed fan, but I have to tell you, I’ve been listening to you guys since I was 16 when Three Cheers came out. It got me through so much and your performance style inspired me so much and how I perform and yea. Sorry to ramble, I just had to get that off my chest, I won’t bug you about it again,” (YN) said with another shake of her head as she put her hands over her face. She didn’t know why, but tears were stinging at her eyes. “So sorry.”

“Don’t be,” he replied and he reached out and rubbed her arm. “We saw you guys performing and that’s why we asked you to come out with us. You have a lot of talent.”

“Well thank you, this is literally a dream come true,” (YN) blushed. Receiving a compliment like that from Gerard Way himself was mind blowing.

“My Chem, you’re up for soundcheck,” someone with a headset called from the doorway.

“We’ll see you around,” Gerard waved as they made their way out the door. After the band was gone (YN), Jake, and Liam stood alone in the dressing room silently for a moment.

“Holy fucking hell we just met My Chemical Romance!” Liam shrieked.

“I know!” (YN) shouted in reply, throwing her arms around her friends in a celebratory hug.

"(YN). Earth to (YN)," Liam said, pulling her from her thoughts. "You ready?"

"No, not at all," she replied and Liam could see the fear in her face. It had been a long time since he had seen her that nervous before a performance. 

"You got this," he said to (YN). "We all got this, come on!"

Just then the stage lights dimmed and the crowd roared like she'd never heard before. The other three took their places on stage. "Fuck it," she muttered to herself and ran out on stage.

45 minutes later Garden of Woe was taking their bow and hurrying off stage so the roadies could switch out their equipment for Taking Back Sunday’s. The four bandmates were wrapping each other in sweaty hugs and jumping up and down, as the set had gone better than they ever could have hoped. After cleaning themselves up a bit, they went to the merch booth and signed autographs and took photos for a while, but the line cleared out again once Taking Back Sunday went on. After they finished, there wasn't much time before MCR were going to take the stage, so (YN) hurried backstage and found a crate to sit on and watch while the greatest band of their generation took the stage.

The show was absolutely awe inspiring; to watch the way Ray shredded on his guitar, the way Frank and Mikey moved around the stage, but most of all watching Gerard. He was a natural on stage, even after all this time away from it. While she had watched enough interviews on youtube to know that he was soft spoken, the way he turned that off and started to just command the stage and the crowd was incredible. What she couldn’t believe was that no one else was with her watching the show. Did they not realize what an opportunity they were missing she wondered.

"Enjoying the show?" Gerard asked when they came off stage before the encore.

"So much! You're kicking so much ass out there!" She beamed and the guys all laughed in appreciation.

Once the show was over and everyone was cleaned up, the bands all came together to celebrate a little before it was time to reboard the busses. The drinks were flowing for everyone that partook as people talked happily, but (YN) found herself without a place to sit until she decided to crash on Liam's lap.

Ray smiled as he walked over to them. “Hey, how’d the first show go?”

“Amazing!” Liam grinned.

“So amazing, but you guys, holy shit!” (YN) gushed. “I suppose when you’ve played together for so long you don’t just lose that, even after a break.”

"That’s true,” Ray nodded. “How long have you been a band?”

“About ten years,” (YN) replied. “We talked about it in high school, but neither of us could play an instrument, and life was so hard back then. We couldn’t get our shit together until after he graduated from college. It's only really been in the last few years we've been able to find some success with it.”

“So are you two together?" Ray asked, looking between the pair.

"Oh nooo," (YN) laughed. "Liam's practically my brother."

"And I'm gay," Liam interjected.

"And there's that," (YN) nodded.

“Well you guys have a real dynamic that works,” Ray shrugged. The way he treated them as if they were equals to everyone else on the tour was exactly the confidence boost (YN) needed as the tour got started.

The next few days of the tour were very much the same. Rolling into town, hurry up and wait, getting to know the guys in the other bands, and then finally getting on stage. After signing for fans, (YN) would rush backstage to watch MCR perform, and after that everyone would gather again until it was time to load back into the busses to the next town.

Each day was a little less nerve-wracking than the last and (YN) finally felt like she was coming out of her shell. She’d hoped that Rebecca would be her right-hand woman, since there were so few other women out on the tour, but Rebecca had been heading straight to the busses after the shows, instead of hanging out with everyone else.

“Do you have any idea what’s up with Becs?” (YN) asked the other two members of the band after their soundcheck.

“Nope,” Jake replied quickly before heading back behind his kit again.

“Just go talk to her,” Liam suggested.

(YN) grumbled before nodding and heading back to the dressing room. “Hey Becs!” (YN) said as chipperly as she could muster. “Are you gonna hang with us after the show tonight? I miss hanging out with you, and the guys are all super fun to talk to.”

“I dunno, maybe,” she replied, but (YN) couldn’t get a read on her mood.

“What are you gonna wear tonight? I was thinking my Mikey Fuckin Way shirt that I cropped,” (YN) said turning to their wardrobe rack.

“I’m gonna go to the bathroom,” Rebecca said before quickly turning and almost running out of the room. Moments later Liam came in.

“What the hell was that about?”

“I have no idea dude, I tried though, I really did.”

Despite the weirdness between Rebecca and the rest of the band, the show went well. (YN) again ducked out early from their signing to catch the MCR show from her favorite spot at the side of the stage. She couldn’t help but wonder if she was imagining things, but it seemed like whenever Gerard looked her way, he’d always smile just at her.

“Still enjoying the show?” Gerard asked when he came off stage before their encore.

“I’ve got years of not seeing you guys live to catch up on, I’m never gonna get sick of it,” she laughed.

Gerard nodded. “I caught your show tonight, you guys are really killin it.”

(YN) could have sworn her soul left her body for a moment. “R-really?”

“Yea, I really-”

“Gee, we’re back on,” Ray said tapping him on the shoulder.

(YN) waved him off as he went back on stage and the crowd roared again. She tried to keep from screaming herself, but for an entirely different reason.

At the end of the show, everyone convened as usual for the post-show celebration. (YN) was glad to find that Rebecca had joined the group, even if she was mostly just talking to Jake. She had meant to talk to her, but got pulled into a conversation with Adam instead.

“Ok, but can you teach me to swing the mic like you do and not kill someone?” (YN) asked with a laugh. 

“Sure thing, how ‘bout after your sound check tomorrow?” Adam offered.

“Perfect, can’t wait!” (YN) grinned, but in the corner Rebecca was rolling her eyes.

From the other side of the room Mikey was trying to talk to Gerard, but he was noticeably distracted. Following his brother’s line of sight, realized Gerard was watching (YN)’s animated conversation with Adam. He bumped his shoulder into Gerard’s. 

“You really are into (YN) aren’t you?” Mikey asked with a knowing smile and Gerard just shrugged dejectedly. “Why don’t you just ask her out or something?”

“I can’t,” Gerard replied.

“Why not?”

“Because.”

“Because why? Why? What good reason do you have?” Mikey argued.

“Because I’m older than her, because I don’t want her to feel obligated to spend time with me just because we’re on this tour together. Because I’m not… I’m not the Gerard Way I used to be.”

"What the fuck does that mean?" Mikey asked sternly.

"I know I'm not a sexy rock star anymore, I'm a divorced dad with grey in his hair and," he sighed. "You know what I mean."

"Gee, you know you're in a better place now in so many ways than you were before. Stop talking yourself out of it.”

Gerard just grumbled in response. He knew his brother was right, he was better off now than he was ten years ago, worlds better than he was even longer ago than that. But he couldn’t help but worry that (YN) wouldn’t be interested in him. At least not the current version of him. 

But that didn’t change how he felt about her

The next stop on the tour was Riot Fest, but Garden of Woe would not actually be opening for My Chem and Taking Back Sunday. They had been relegated to one of the smaller side stages earlier in the day. (YN) and Liam were hanging out on the curb outside their bus in the warm, mid September Chicago air when Frank and Gerard came by.

“Hey, when are you guys on today?” Frank asked.

“At 4:30, why?” Liam answered

Frank climbed in between the two and pulled out his phone. “Gerard is always talking about how awesome your show is, so I was gonna promote you guys.”

(YN) looked up at Gerard who smiled shyly. “Well Gerard, why don’t you get in on this too then,” she smiled.

“Sure,” he nodded and sat down next to her as Liam took Frank’s phone and held it out so he could get everyone in the shot.

“Hey guys, we’re at Riot Fest, and before we play tonight, you gotta go check out our friends Garden of Woe," Frank said to the camera.

“4:30 on the Riot Stage,” (YN) added, flashing a peace sign before Liam finished recording. “Thanks guys, we really appreciate it. I don’t know how many people would be stopping by our set without the promo.”

“Well they should be, like I said before, you’re amazing,” Gerard replied as (YN) looked over at him with a soft smile. Over (YN)’s shoulder, Liam and Frank were exchanging knowing looks.

Hours later the band was waiting off stage, a few minutes before they were due to go on for their set.

“Holy shit, I didn’t expect the crowd this big,” Jake said after peaking out.

“I guess Frank’s post worked,” Liam shrugged.

“What post?” Rebecca asked.

“This one,” (YN) replied, pulling out her phone and pulling up the post she’d bookmarked. She let the video play, smiling happily at the four of them on the screen.

“Look at you all cozy with My Chem, what a surprise,” Rebecca deadpanned.

(YN) shot her a confused look and was about to open her mouth when Liam interjected.

“Ha, look at these comments,” Liam said, snatching the phone away. “People are totally shipping you and Gerard, (YN).”

“Shut up, no they aren’t,” she replied, but could feel her cheeks burning red.

“Yea they are, look!” He said pointing them out. (YN) scrolled through and couldn’t help but feel honored that people would think that she and Gerard made a cute couple. She could only imagine what it’d really be like.

“Don’t we have a show to play?” Rebecca asked snidely, snapping her from her thoughts.

“Becs is right, come on let’s get ready.” (YN) nodded, putting her phone away.

The energy of the crowd was great, and the fans that were up front were actually singing along, which brought a smile to (YN)’s face. An even bigger smile crossed her face when she glanced at the side of the stage and saw Gerard and Frank were there watching the show too.

Stage and weirdness

I won't judge him for saying that, as much as I find it ironic, but maybe he's kidding or he's being 'Super Cool' for his badass friends. But, again, is ironic an ex junkie in recovery would joke about his addictions. Who knows?

I want to talk a bit about the interview for TasteiT TV in 2007.

This is a great interview and the interviewer knows what she's talking about. I think she knows exactly what she doing.

She asks Gerard if there is a link between the artist and his creations. Basically she asks him if you need to practice what you preach. He evades and squirms and finally tells her, "No, it is not important to practice what you preach". She says, "Imagine that someone is singing loves songs and about respect towards people, and then he is a complete asshole behind the stage". Wild! but she knows very well what she's doing. It's interesting to watch Gerard try to avoid this question and fail. She also mentions respecting women. "If I look at it as a fan," she says "I wouldn't be able to listen to that person anymore." Watch Gerard's face when she says that. Then Gerard brings up the painter Carravaggio and says he was a "womanizer" and says, "Once you know that about him, does it make his paintings any less beautiful? No, it doesn't." And this made me thing, who are we really talking about here, Gerard?

She tells him, "It depends on what he paints. Imagine that he's painting about respect.. And then he's like, fake." Watch his face when she says that. He then tries to evade by saying that he's "boring" and she tells him, "It's not about being boring." She tells him it's about the things he used to say between songs in the earlier days. "How girls should have respect" she points out to him. "I find myself saying a lot less of those things these days," Gerard says. The interviewer fearlessly keeps pressing him on this subject. Watch him squirm.

On their DVD "life on the muder scene" they stated that they were anti rock 'n roll.

Then, Circa LOTMS "We love to play. But that's really not why we all started this. It wasn't because we loved to play. It's because we had a purpose...We've always been pretty adamant or vocal about our message."

And for TasteiTTV, "There is a lot this band has said and I think that's great and I think now when we play live, it's more about playing together and really enjoying that moment and really just being a rock band. And I think we've made a lot of statements and said a lot of things and I think that that's cool. We did that for years. And now it feels cool to get up there and not say anything and let the songs speak and just do that. 'Cause sometimes that stuff can detract from the show". I think its much easier to be just another rock band.

Angry and jokes

I found that interresnate enough to comment.

This was in Curitiba, Brazil, on 2/16/08 Gerard is in the airport and a bunch of young girls are following the band, saying hi, taking a picture, asking for his autograph etc. They are giggling and then a few of them ask him "can we take a picture Gerard!" And Gerard snaps "Can't you understand no! No!". Yes, he was being bothered so like F, M and R, but did he have to be this rude? But again you see, F, M and R were equally tired too, being equally annoyed as well but still they weren't rude. In fact, none of them act like Gerard did. They were all getting the same treatment. I remember seeing this and wondering if Gerard is purposely trying to get rid of his young female fans. I think this is because he wants to be considered more hardcore because of MSI? Maybe.

Ask yourself this, can you imagine G doing this a few years ago, before that? Because I don't. You know he wouldn't have acted like that years ago. Idk he could have said, "I'm tired" or "I'm in a hurry, see you at the show" but whatever.

And MCR's MySpace profile had changed (around that time) from "punk" to "metal". "Punk" usually means more like a state of mind, having a message and defending your beliefs. When "metal" makes you think about are the 80's hair bands that were more concerned with the look of their hair than the music and how much they were having sex. That seems to be Gerard's goal. I think it's because of the influence of MSI.

Oh and the joke someone send him "giant bags of cocaine." ...

A post-breakup MCR theory

or why I think the most important shit actually went down AFTER March 22nd.

So I’ve been doing a lot of thinking, probably too much of it, and I’ve also watched a significant amount of videos on various MCR facts and conspiracies, which resulted in me ranting on twitter quite a lot already but finally today I’ve decided to get my shit together and put down my grand theory in its entirety so buckle up, sons, we’re going for a ride.

Disclaimer: you may want to hate me a little while reading this but I’m not saying I KNOW any of this for a fact, it’s still a theory, just one I find very probable. Also I promise you won’t hate me as much, if you stick around long enough to read the whole thing. (pssst note that this has nothing to do with frerard, it really doesn’t matter whether they had a romantic relationship or not at any point, this theory could be true regardless)

To begin with I must admit that for the longest time I’ve been one of those people who laughed at all the suggestions the boys from MCR stopped being friends after the band broke up. I mean, the people who kept saying Gerard and Frank hated each other seemed like just some extra bitter fucks who found lots of wicked joy in making children cry, right? It seemed like everything was fine between the guys, they interacted on social media from time to time, liked instagram posts, promoted each other’s albums, they just weren’t too eager to talk about the band in the interviews but hey, that was perfectly understandable. Besides, it wasn’t that weird they weren’t constantly hanging out together since Frank lived in NJ and the rest in LA plus even if they met, it wasn’t like we would know about all of those meetings because they are quite private people and don’t post selfies with everyone they spend their time with. I believed that with all my heart actually because I did want to believe they weren’t like Panic and actually managed to survive unaffected by their band falling apart.

The moment I realised I was probably very, very wrong was when I learned that Jamia unfollowed Gerard on twitter after the band broke up.

Seems like a stupid little detail but it’s a fact that just made something in my mind click. See, the thing is, Jamia follows all of the MCR guys except for Gerard. She even follows Bob. She follows Lindsey. Literally everyone connected to the band but Gerard. Now add this tiny fact to another fact which is Frank not realising the band was actually ending up until he read the message on the band’s site and the fact that Frank did say he had a very hard time dealing with it and suffered a lot during the time in which he wrote stomachaches. None of us personally know Jamia, however, what we can quite probably safely assume is that she loves Frank very much and wants to protect him just as fiercely as he wants to protect her.  This altogether leads me to believe that Frank must have felt really hurt specifically by Gerard, which caused Jamia to cut him off.

Now before you attack me for even suggesting Gerard has a single shitty quality to himself, please, consider acknowledging that nobody is perfect and certainly one of Gerard’s flaws is his inability to face people regarding unpleasant/important matters. He broke up with his girlfriend (supposedly fiancee at the time) through an email, he didn’t inform anyone about his wedding, I heard he also didn’t really talk to Bob before kicking him out of band, it seems he doesn’t talk to his parents at all... Maybe it’s all his social anxiety or in certain situations anger or hurt stopping him but I do believe he simply didn’t know how to tell Frank the breakup was happening right there and then so he just didn’t give him any warning. What they also admitted in the interviews recently is that their friendship was already strained during the DD recording/tour since they only talked about the work to each other and barely felt like friends anymore. I don’t know about you but I wouldn’t find it surprising, if the way the band ended was the last straw and caused this whole monumental tower of bullshit to collapse.

I do think that out of respect for each other, the fans and their happy past together they all kept the illusion of friendship up for the public. Maybe they talked from time to time, they definitely were civil with each other but I firmly believe they weren’t nearly as close as they used to be. 

Before you start sharpening your knife let me give you one more argument to support my outrageous statement, the most important argument of them all:

Just look at them NOW.

Yes, you heard me right, another thing that convinces me they did hate each other for at least a bit, is how I believe as of today they are friends again. For real.

As morbid as it may sound, the revival of their group connection started with Frank’s accident. If you really look at it, this terrifying event really draws the line between the periods of March 2013 - October 2016 and October 2016 - now. What particularly drew my attention was Gerard saying in one of the interviews that it made them realise they could have actually lost Frank. Nothing like a potentially deadly accident to remind people of their own mortality. From my own experience I know that in the light of such an event it’s fairly easy to just put all the grudges in the past and forget everything that was bad for the sake of reconnecting with people who were important to us once upon a time.

You don’t have to look too hard for proofs that things really did change about a year ago. Suddenly it seems like they are more eager to mention MCR in the interviews, I feel like they opened up a lot and we learned so much more about their struggles in the band. The groupchat thing happened. Frank visited Gerard during his family holidays and actually posted the drawing his daughter did with Lindsey. They all met during Frank’s concert with the hugs that made the whole fandom cry and melt. Frank and Gerard just casually hung out in the UK. These things weren’t happening before so often and to such an extent. There’s just this extremely positive vibe surrounding their interactions now and it leads me to believe they haven’t been in a better place for a very long time, if ever.  

Maybe it’s just me, I don’t know but it seems like they really are doing well now and I hope things only get better in the future. I don’t think a reunion will ever happen but I’m personally fine with that as long as they all are happy with what they do and... that’s about it, all I had to say on the topic. You may agree or you may disagree with me but I’m just glad to have finally put it all out there.

get woken up by my alarms, so i wake jacob up for work. i feed wyatt. i go back to sleep for a couple hours. then i wake up and feed wyatt again. i go back to sleep. i get woken up by wyatt hitting my face, arms, stomach, or chest. we play a little. then i get up, get dressed, take wyatt out to the living room and change his diaper.

i don’t think i eat any strange food combinations. some people in my family think it’s strange when i eat peanut butter and banana sandwiches, but i mostly did that when i was pregnant.
