welcome to smplivecomments! this blog posts random funny, strange, wholesome, or otherwise notable comments from smplive videos for your amusement.
what is smplive? smplive was a minecraft server created by cscoop and another cc i won't name in 2019 that ran for about a year. it is frequently credited as one of the driving forces in the minecraft resurgence of 2019 and popularized livestreamed smps as a genre, being the spiritual predecessor to smpearth and dream smp. the server's primary gimmick was that players that were online were required to be livestreaming.
this blog was created by @conarcoin and is inspired by the now defunct @dreamcomments
icon is from an official thumbnail and was drawn by the talented @scivious ❤️

I told myself I wasn’t gonna post about minecraft smps on tumblr but I can’t help myself, I’m thinking the initial craze around dsmp has died down enough that I can post about it without being judged to harshly lol.
Minecraft smps are one of my top interests so I’d love to post more art about them! (my top favorites are Smplive, dsmp, and newest addition: qmsp)
Here’s my techno design (and some other stuff), not super original by any means, I just wanted to draw a big pig.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also because some people get confused: like 99% of the time I am drawing/talking about dsmp it’s about the characters not the streamers/actors!
I don’t think I can post dsmp without taking about it a bit. initially I wrote like a whole ass essay on my opinions on the unfortunate circumstances of the dsmp but i threw that away because no one wants to read all that lol here’s my attempt at a tldr for said essay for your viewing (dis)pleasure!
Dsmp was a mess, not just because of the audience but also because of the way certain creators went about interacting with said audience. A majority of the audience was younger kids, and for a lot of them I’m assuming dsmp was kind of a gateway into fandom (and twitch) culture. Because of this there was some weird behaviours and shit that cropped up and unfortunately certain creators chose to encourage these behaviours instead of shutting it down, which really shouldn’t have been happening, especially considering once again, the majority of this audience was younger kids who don’t really know any better. And to top all of this off the dsmp was being streamed live on twitch, where viewers were able to use chat and donation messages to talk directly to these creators, this unfortunately lead to lots of unhealthy relationships forming from these kids thinking the creators were their friends in a way.
So we kind of ended up with the awful combination of a load of kids, stuck in quarantine, watching and directly interacting with these creators, and being encouraged to behave in questionable ways by some of these creators.
In no way at all do I think dsmp is the worst fandom to exist (or even close to it really) I just think there was a lot of unfortunate circumstance and situations that (because of a large audience) ended up being amplified to an even larger audience.
Now I am going to physically walk away from my keyboard because I could genuinely talk for hours about minecraft smps and I need to stfu lmao, if you happened to actually read all this shit here’s a special message for you: hiiii!!!! :3
Also also if you read all this and are interested in talking about it, fukcing comment!! I would unironically love to talk about minecraft smps to anyone at all lmao

DO NOT SHAKE AND QUIVER . I WILL PROTECT YOU. My trav and cooper designs have been the same since 2019 LOL… fun fact Cooper used to comment / like my posts everytime I drew him on Instagram until SMPLive blew up like crazy! Anyway. Not a bunch to say about these two. I feel like people don’t give cooper the same amount of Minecraft-ism as they would some others … like come on guys there are fish and aquatic animals IN MINECRAFT. MAKE HIM A GUARDIAN OR SOMETHING!!!! For Travis urmmm. I keep him a dog cause that’s just how I’ve always made him :3 I think if I explored his other skins it would most likely be his BMO one or something. ( I am not good at drawing monkeys. ) I like these two so much they’re like my bias mcyt style.

What is the drama happening on twitter rn. I have never heard of smpronpa in my life
i was not around when smpronpa dropped nor have i watched smplive so apologies if i get any of this wrong but tldr smpronpa was a popular danganronpa x smplive fic when that was around. eventually it got the attention of some ccs including one callmecarson who did the Serious Stream Addressing Fan Culture. you might recognise this starting screen
Tumblr media
in which he talked a lot about boundaries and said he wasn't happy with fanfiction, shipping, etc. and called smpronpa out directly by name as an example of this. poor behaviour from a cc even if they are uncomfortable with this because then the author was harassed extensively and smpronpa was totally removed. because nobody expected this, it became functionally lost media. cmc ended up being a groomer btw and every other cc who has commented on smpronpa since said they didn't give a fuck and varied from not caring about it to actively reading and enjoying it.
fast forward to now and after some time spent digging connor conarcoin received a full copy of smpronpa and has reposted it for everyone to enjoy. i have no idea if twitter are mad about this or what but a lot of people seem to be realising that actually it wasnt the horrific boundary breaking nightmare people assumed it was but actually just your very average danganronpa crossover. who would've guessed. pokay is reading it live on stream tonight. nature is healing etc

I could never and I tried but I'm just a conversationalist and I feel like with people I havent talked to regularly#for years itw will come out as mactually mean#like with both if my irls I'll just add in with and that shit and thats just how I respond to messages#and idk what I'm even trying to say#just like how do you guys get to know each other and DM and become actual friends and shit#like (through no fault of anyine. I just don't start it) people will talk to each other a d get to know them#fucking people will be best friends over the internet and I sit here a d call them Mt friends but j dont ever talk to the. unless I'm in a#group chat that multiple people are participating in#and even then I feel like my addition would not actually add to the convo and I'll still be where I am#again going back to paint. glass. f. Quinn. and others. I had converaations with them and talked#but they were off playing minecraft and dming eachither and getting to know each other more#and I've just never been able to do that. I might just be that I can't hold a conversation good but with the DMS between me and my friend#Matt. it shows I can but i usually have nothing to go off of or its just pointless small talk and it goes no where and then we never Dm#again. (again maibly my fault).#god image having internet friends you actually have full conversations with. Iwouldnt be me#vent#lol I'm going to bed#this might not even make any sense at all. who cares.#tumble please stop mixing up NY tags. now half of this doesnr make sense

Okay, I'm only going to say this once.
The SMP Live fandom has become so incredibly toxic lately and it's honestly starting to get on my nerves.
Yeah, if someone says they're uncomfortable with something, don't write or draw it (and if you do for the love of god don't post it), but don't BULLY others because of it. I myself am not a huge fan of shipping real life people, but I don't go on OP's blog and start spamming them with hate messages. See the block button? Fucking use it if you dont want to see stuff like that. It's okay to leave a little message saying "hey sorry we dont really do that here" or "yeah shipping people isnt cool man", but don't fucking leave hate messages telling them they're pieces of shit. That is not okay.
I was incredibly excited to join SMP Live after leaving somewhat of a dead fandom, and I've met some incredibly funny and kind people because of it. But these same creators are being driven away by their own fans and followers, and it's disheartening and incredibly frustrating.
You guys are acting all high and mighty for bullying people, but in reality you're acting like children. And it's not cool or hip or woke, it's fucking disgusting and incredibly rude and not okay.
These people don't have to write stories for free or draw art for free, and yet they do, and you people are bullying them for following their passions. You act as if they don't have feelings and they shouldn't be excited for just trying to be creative. It is so easy to just block a person and not have to think about it, but you guy's will go out of your way to hound somebody down and bully them for a mistake they made by just doing something they love. This isn't something we as a fandom should be proud of in any way, shape or form, and we sure as hell shouldn't be encouraging that type of disgusting behavior.
This is all I have to say on the matter. Once I get back from Basic and the fandom turns out to still like this, I will not hesitate to dip and find somewhere else that's a whole lot less toxic than this fandom is.

This fanfic situation reminded me of my own reddit problem
You see, this one person put one of my posts on reddit in order to mock me. They didn't cover my name, and just put it right there
The post was innocent, it was saying how schlatt talking with connor about smplive made me incredibly nostalgic even if i never watched a smplive stream
This person put my post there, on connor's reddit, and just said "LMAAAAO LOOK AT THE TUMBLR LOSERS ADOPTING CONNOR AS A SOFT BOY, WHAT AN IDIOT"
The result? Connor saw it
My post had connor's name, had his tag, but I never wanted him to read it. But he did, because it was cross posted. He read it entirely to his 10k viewers. And people joined the mocking. They kept on laughing and saying how the author of that post must be an over dramatic 14 yo girl
I only knew about this bc a girl told me. She told me bc my name was in the post and she wanted to warn me. I went and saw the vod. Connor found it sweet, and said it was cool that just a normal talk could bring people thar kind of sentiment. Connor said my post was good.
Chat and reddit comments? Not that cool. They mocked me over and over, and thats bc I was lucky they didn't come at my blog. One friend of mine argued in the reddit comments enough so a mod could see and put the post down
And, easy like that, people forgot about my post. Time passed and thar thing was in the past, right?
To this day, i never tagged connor again
Why? It passed, people know better now, i should be cool. But I'm not, i still have this bad sensation that it will happen again and people will mock me for just being me
And thats bc my post had nothing wrong. No stereotypes, no crossing boundaries, no shipping, just straight up "connor and schlart talking makes me nostalgic"
Even if Connor said it was nice and he respected me, some viewers didn't. And that's the thing that keeps me from posting on his tag. And thats bc I'm a 18 yo rn
Imagine what isn't going on inside of that young writer's head that didn't know any boundaries, and got their fanfic (made bc they really admired quackity) showed to 200k peoples and used as a stand up number.
I know Quackity didn't want to make the fic the butt of the joke, but by interpreting it the fanfic became, in some point, the joke. And even if Quackity tried to ask his chat to be nice, some people aren't.
The fanfic was awful in relation of the boundary breaking and stereotypes??? Yes, but that doesn't mean it should be judged like a witch in salem. That kid should learn about boundaries by someone telling them and, even if they don't learn, no one deserves to feel like theres 100k pointing their finger at you and mocking, criticizing, laughing...
I just hope the writer is ok, and that they dont gave up on writing.

My favourite bit of SMPLive lore has got to be the portal blocks/the invisible zombie pigman
In the early days of the SMP, Pokay was vibing in the Nether when CallMeC*arson (at the time, Pokay was his editor) made a bet to dig straight down for a raise. When Pokay died doing it and was jokingly pissed at getting lol sike'd, CMC logged in and spawned these super-fast, invisible, invincible? zombies covered in blocks to look like Sonic. Pokay got killed by them a few times before trying to give one an emerald and it went Super Sonic: glowy, yellow, and even faster. That one tried to go through the Nether portal but it left the blocks making it Sonic behind, and that's the origin of the portal blocks:
Tumblr media
At some point shortly after, (as evidenced by the portal cubes,) ConnorEatsPants and JSchlatt bought a building near spawn to do business. With a high SkyDoesMinecraft in the call rambling about M.inecraft and butter, Connor was repeatedly killed by an invisible, hitboxless zombie pigman.
Which means that the Sonic that went through the portal and lost its blocks not only survived, but made its way up three floors of scaffolding and targeted Connor because he'd angered a zombie pigman earlier in the stream. And pretty much everybody thought it was just a weird glitch until Pokay released his stream highlights on it a month later and a few people put the pieces together in the comments section.
My second favourite bit of lore is the Taco Bell Chunk Error

I have no idea if the sonic jorts guy is conner or conar and at this point im too afraid to ask
his name is connor. it is literally in his username
conar is a nickname that comes from this smplive clip. he doesn’t like people using it in his comments and chat. you’ll actually get banned if you use it in his twitch chat
