mini headcanon: if a vampire were to drink it, amalica's blood would probably taste. gross? ik astarion mentions that gale's blood tastes like "bile" because of the netherese orb and its magic, so i have to imagine having wild magic has a similar effect on sorcerer blood.

so I know that the most likely reason why drow sunlight sensitivity isn't in bg3 is just bc it would suck mechanically to have ur player character basically have permanent disadvantage on attacks every time you're outside (outside of the underdark and shadow cursed lands ig), but-

Now I'm thinking about whether the tadpole does something similar for a drow Tav as it does for Astarion? As in, only with the tadpole are they actually able to enjoy the sunshine without discomfort/pain? Would they, too, stand at the pier at the end of the game and find that the sun once again hurts their eyes?

Imagine a completely pierced human who meets a group of dwarves and gnomes in a tavern and they're completely enamoured with you.

But of them eventually gets the courage and hints at it.

With a smile you completely remove your shirt amidst the whole tavern, showing them all the extra hidden piercings. They almost choke on their drinks.

And they're just so curious about the metals and gems decorating you, they can't help their wandering hands. They need to get closer to observe it, you see, it's in their nature.

Fuck nothing will turn a dwarf on more than you having a piercing with their birthstone. The mere idea probably makes their brain short-circuits.

And yeah about elves clutching their pearls at the idea of you poking any sort of hole in your body. Imagine a group of high elves taking it as their duty to lecture the heavily pierced human on the street about how what they're doing is disrespectful to their body.

lolth-sworn society beauty standards must be so crazy and strict tho…. like if the red eyes are a gift from lolth and if not every drow are born with the red eyes I just imagine you’d get ostracised if you’re born with white eyes or purple, like ur not wanted by lolth from birth so ur inherently worthless. in the same vein if you also don’t have white hair then you’re treated as an Other bc you don’t look like everyone else. and I imagine that lolth is THE very definition of their beauty standard so they aspire to look like her, and all the beauty trends and ideals are influenced from her or from her spiders and if there’s anything any feature about yourself that deviates from lolth’s standards then you’re considered as ugly and grotesque.

likewise, I’d imagine the upkeep of beauty is a sort of status symbol because if you manage to keep up with the elaborate outfits and hairstyles without worrying someone is gonna kill you with it it means that you have the luxury to be comfortable. and also the means to afford such things in the first place bc resources in the underdark are pretty limited and gems from the surface needs to be imported and id imagine they’d be more expensive bc it’s already so risky going down the underdark let alone doing trade in menzoberranzan.

like unsure if this an actual thing too but I like the hc so it’s real to Me! But I like the idea that hair is essentially a status symbol towards the drows, and they favour elaborate braids and updos that resembles a spider’s web and cocoon, and a way to punish and shame someone is to cut off their long hair. like imagine if the matriarchs wore gigantic elaborate braided hair with all these head pieces and designs to show off the status of their house and the power they themselves have, and the lesser houses’ braids are much more smaller in comparison. she would have the means to do her hair like that daily because she has designated servants and slaves attending to her needs, and she has the money to afford all sorts of accessories. and the same goes for their clothes too, since silk is a favourite amongst the drows and it’s a pretty difficult fabric to work with. I’d also imagine lace being a highly sought out fabric among them since it’s so delicate and flimsy, and it could easily snag. but the fact that you’re able to wear something fragile as lace is a power play in itself since it’s a show off your own strength and power … kind of like a taunt ?

anyway, this isn’t really going anywhere I’m just typing aloud but I’d imagine in a society where almost everyone’s colouring is similar to each other, where beauty is one of the most infamous traits they’re known to have, and where they claim that red eyes is a gift from the goddess they’re all expect to covet and worship id imagine the beauty standards there are so crazy and toxic lol

the blood war is this huge thing in dnd. demons are from the abyss. all they want is to cause chaos and eat the whole fucking world. devils are lawful evil, their entire economy and existence is war profiteering souls and afterlives as slaves to FIGHT the demons. the devils hink theyre doing the world a favor fighting demons, and are even “allowed” to corrupt souls bc theyre a necessary evil to fight the blood war. without the devils, demons would take over the universe. without demons, devils would have no purpose, as law has no purpose without chaos. devils in gen are p much forced to fight demons witnout fail, and the ONLY place they can really die and lose their immortality fighting demons in the blood war and like. there is nothing after their death as a devil. its a genuine sacrifice theyre making, putting themselves in danger!for the good of the realms.” and unlike devils—demons can never die, they just pop back up in the abyss. war, endless war, suffering, endless suffering. an economy of making more devils, even more devils, cant stop making more devils, cant srop profitting off of the war, even devils suffer, and anyone can become a devil thru deals or just being evil enough. (and the deals are never fucking FAIR but you get exactly what you pay for.)

zariel was once an angel. she wanted to get involved in the blood war so bad that she took wlturel’s hellriders down to the hells. they betrayed her and left her for dead and never told a SOUL, where asmodeus foundher under a “mountain of enemies she herself had slayed.” instead of killing her, he offered her the chance to fight demons forever

the devils in dnd 5e are incredibly sympathetic. (so is, imo, lolth/drow, shar, the druegar, orcs.) and zariel is not evil without reason, shes not some kind of pervert that is sexually abusing anyone. she tortures people SPECIFICALLY to make them better soldiers. i doubt she understands them anymore as slaves than she is to asmodeus. she wants to wipe demons off the map. she wants to end the war.

devils are reasonable to a fault. they are gendered and only by human expectations. they live and want to live full, rich lives of selfishness, but they are bound by the needs of an endless war they can never stop-#they have mansions, pleasure islands, they have jails, they have courts and paperwork. they are bound to the souls they corrupt, they are bound to each other and a hierachy of bureacracy and backstabbing and torturing each other all within the confines of evil unjust laws they themselves uphold.raphael and mizora are outliers in their amount of power, most are little more than slaves, “soldiers” like karlach who were once human, who sold their souls and lost their humanity and FREEDOM—but also examples of how they have to humiliate and debase themselves playing with mortals and “more powerful devils” like zariel who they hate who they must believe are beneath their station. (they have no shame, of course. but they have pride.)

it would be far easier to be a mindless demon. at least they would be free!

she's a circle of spores druid and twilight cleric of eilistraee. she's isilmnir'el (from this mod) so basically she was a drow priestess of eilistraee until she fell to lolth, & i don't have the specifics nailed down here but she basically "slept" for a long time and was twisted by eilistraee's fall into a drow/tiefling-like being. eilistraee only returned about 3 years ago at the time of bg3 so locket basically "woke up" super confused & sad but has been seeking info on eilistraee's return.

she seems pretty weird and spacey at first meeting and was kind of an outsider even amongst her fellow priestesses because of her dreamy, slightly aloof demeanor. but she's really warm and generous once you get past that. she loves dancing, music, mushrooms, deer, moths, sunmelon, spiders, making jewelry, graveyards, freckles, riddles, and getting lost. withers just mocked her for being single but she has a big crush on halsin 👀
