It's that time... we're moving from one coast line to another! Putting a pause on Denver's beautiful life, let's travel to SimLau Isles to see how his sister Sloan Hastings is doing!

these days my relationship with the sims 4 is rocky, but the sims has been a part of my life for over 20 years and while I take prolonged breaks sometimes...I always find my way back home.

and my very first significant legacy founder, Ven Ott! The Otts started in early 2015 and made it to generation 7 before I eventually moved on from them.

and since we're being nostalgic!! my favorite founder ever in the whole world. The Melons started in 2019, and they made the sims 4 and simblr as a whole so incredibly fun. I loved and adored every second of them and their affinity for catching on fire. They very technically surpassed the 10 generation threshold and made it to generation 13!

For those who don't know, Denver's spouse, Maple, would have been the gen 10 heir of the Melon legacy. Instead, he made a comeback in a new legacy just a couple years later. And who knows, maybe the Melon line isn't quite done yet...👀

I've been away from online stuff for a bit, between going up to Denver for the monthly visit (which is almost worse than when I used to get periods, dammit), and being busy and, frankly, spending time compiling the data for and, now, starting to put together a Tempest preset.

Unfortunately, the latter isn't a preset I'm going to share because I highly doubt that anyone would want to use it, given that it's designed for a 336-day year with 84-day seasons, meant for matching life stage lengths. So, basically simming in (sort of) real time. But hey! Maybe someone would be, and if so, yell at me. It's basically an extension/expansion of the Nova Scotia/Bar Harbor one. I'm making it because I feel like having a save with really long lifespans in a world that's basically a rustic fishing village. No, I do not know why. It isn't as if I don't have a hundred other saves to play. 🙄And yet, here we are.

Anyway, I don't have anything simmy to share, and there's no way I'm going to be able to catch up with about a week of posts on my dash, so...Yeah. Hey, mutuals! Consider all your posts from the past week liked. LOL Hopefully I'll be able to catch up with stories, at least.

📼 (tape girl hcs) Ahhhhhh tape girl. Gotta love her. Her name's Bailey Cosette (like casette lmao). She grew up Denver, Colorado, and moved to Utah after college. She's 28, and had two main reasons for becoming a beta tester. She needed money to pay for her studio apartment, and she had heard about the string of Fazbear companies during the 2020s that would pop up randomly and burn down just as quick, and was curios.

She has a habit of going down these forum rabbit holes (no pun intended) for obscure true crime cold cases and the like, and that's how she knew about the small bit of Fazbear history that wasn't swept under the rug.

My design for her is pretty similar to @chloesimaginationthings's design of her. She's into harajuku (specifically kind of a more masc grunge style) but usually is pretty low-effort with it. If her and Vanessa had met, they would probably be good friends. They probably listen to the same tc podcasts. Instead Vanessa is just weird and parasocial about her. Actually, Vanessa would probably be weird and parasocial either way

She went to college for computer science and is planning on making some kind of indie game, but she hasn't decided what exactly what it would be. She's a gamer with shit posture and five thousand unfinished games and Sims 4 with every possible mod. I love her sm <3333333

Why you should play St. Agatha City

It's free to play, with regular updates as progress is made. This game is still in its alpha state, on chapter 0 out of 7, and kind of lengthy - the unfinished demo alone is several hours of gameplay if you wanna 100% it, but I think it's worth it, and here's why.

1. The main character.

St. Agatha City is an city-exploring mystery game with dating sim elements. This is Pixy Burrow! She's the main character. Unlike a lot of traditional dating sims, Pixy's personality and backstory is just as crucial to the plot and the world she inhabits as the people she meets. I know this isn't everyone's cup of tea, but on the plus side, this means the choices you have her make can have consistency, and consequence. Her responses to situations are also designed to avoid the flat, accidentally unrelatable main character syndrome!

2. The city of St. Agatha itself

St. Agatha is a mid-sized Midwestern city, in the state of Missouri. Though the demo only allows for Pixy to explore the places within walking distance of her apartment, there is a lot of lore and scenery to absorb and explore, with more to come. There is a sinister side of the beautiful new place she's found herself in, which is suspiciously overfunded in recreational activities and decor, but has cracked sidewalks and a lot of unhappy citizens.

3. The cast

There are +20 characters you can meet, and 9 potential love interests of varying personality, background, and gender. Shitty MS paint doodle below...

You've got line cook representation, boylosers, failwomen, cringebeings, autistic boy swag, wolfgirls, a wizard (???), the puppet from Interpol, and Marjory. You figure out who is who.

4. It's got voice actors, fan artists, and a budding community

This game has VAs and will eventually be fully voiced! Currently over half the cast of Chapter 0 are cast, and new voice lines are being added all the time.

5. Production transparency.

Like I said, this game is free. There is no kickstarter, no fundraiser, no merch to sell, and no goddamn ball pit. You couldn't get All or Nothing'd here if you tried, because the only way to throw money at this game is via optional tips, cuz it's hosted on Itch.io. However, due to this and the scale of this game, updates can be slow, but there's a lot of transparency in production - with update previews being posted on the game page, and a very active Discord.

The game is supposed to have eight full chapters, which have been plotted out, with an estimated production span of a few years minimum to fully finish.

6. I made it.

You don't know me (probably), this isn't a flex, that's just self love. You can download it on itch.io! And I'd love it if you do, because I am very proud of my work, and I'd like to ruin the internet with it.

Let's go gamers!!

I've been in the Yogscast fandom since before episode 14 of the Shadow of Israphel, but Blackrock Chronicles has always been a favorite of mine. Recently, @audio-drama and I have been (re)watching it, and I have been falling back in love with the fandom.

I'd love the invite any fellow Yognaughts to check out the game I've been developing! It's called St. Agatha City - it's a city-exploring mystery game with dating sim elements. Audio and I have been talking about how characters from Blackrock remind us of St. Agathians, and how the fandom might overlap well.

Denver (the local antisocial conspiracy theorist) is cosplaying Rythian, Ivy (manic pixie dream freak) is going as Zoey, and Hadley (the lead for the terrible punk garage band Rocktopus) is Duncan/Lalna!

Happy New Year!

I know I haven’t been posting much lately, but I do like to write something every year on New Year’s Eve so I can look back on things if I want to in the future.

So 2023 was a pretty awesome year for me, to be honest. I really didn’t accomplish any of my goals from my last New Year’s post, except for continuing my Duolingo streak, but you know what? It’s totally fine. I set myself back financially and made no progress on getting in shape, but I had a lot of fun!! And that’s really what this year, particularly this summer, was about.

Travel Highlights:

Went to Colorado in June/July, had an amazing spa day and fancy dinner on my birthday, did a bunch of really cool hikes and took a ton of photos, had more fancy dinners, saw 4th of July fireworks over the Denver skyline, went to museums including the Molly Brown house and the best prehistoric exhibit I’ve ever seen, saw moose and elk, and generally had the best time ever.

Visited my aunts in North Carolina for the first time, and had a great time. They convinced me to treat myself while we were at a real jewelry store so I got myself some diamond earrings. Because why the hell not? I’m an adult with a salary, and I don’t need to save or put toward bills every penny I make.

Went to Ocean City in Maryland for the first time as well, which was a ton of fun even though I’m not the most beachy person ever. Ate crabs, got wasted, rode rides, saw wild horses, and then afterward went to Hershey Park which was also a lot of fun and had great roller coasters!

Went to Colorado AGAIN spur of the moment in November because we finally got invited to go to Casa Bonita. So we did that, of course, went on an awesome winter hike in RMNP, got massages, and had a fancy dinner at a Chianti event in Denver.

I also went to a few shows this year:

Iron & Wine in July which is definitely a highlight of the year because he is my favorite musician and I’d never seen him before. Super intimate acoustic show so I didn’t get any pics or videos but I’ll remember it forever, especially that he played my favorite song!

Modest Mouse, Lord Huron, and a bunch of smaller bands at a two day festival in August. Such a fun time, and both headliners were SO good. Lord Huron is a newer find, but I’ve been listening to Modest Mouse for over a decade and never saw them live!

Death Cab for Cutie and The Postal Service in September, for the 20th Anniversary Transatlanticism and Give Up tour. This was my second time seeing Death Cab but this show was special because both bands played those two albums in full, and Transatlanticism is one of my favorite albums ever.

Other cool things:

Went to a fancy tea room in Boston.

Saw Titanic in theaters TWICE during the 25th anniversary rerelease.

Saw a queer comedy show.

Practiced drawing more, but not as much as I’d like.

Went to the gym slightly more consistently.

Cooked some great meals.

Started writing a fanfic I love, which I truly do intend to finish!

Went on a couple of writing weekend trips to Maine which did of course include lobster and a dessert bar.

Had many snuggles with my cats.

Made sweet desserts for my family’s Thanksgiving and Christmas get togethers.

Played a billion hours of The Sims, and took hundreds of screenshots for my save’s very extensive family tree.

Cut down on waitressing hours at the expense of my savings account so I can have weekends back and not burn out so easily.

Other than all that, I went to work and that was fine, tried dating a few times but nothing panned out, and just kind of hung out and did my thing most days.

Huge shout out to @terieri who not only is my travel buddy, but also willingly came to all those concerts, and is the only person who is as invested in my Sims lives as I am! This year would have been super lame without her.

2023 was all about having fun, exploring, doing new things, and eating great food. It gave me a lot of memories and while I know I won’t be able to afford having another year like this for some time, hopefully I can make 2024 pretty great too!

I hope you all have a wonderful night doing whatever you choose to do on New Year’s Eve, and that 2024 starts off amazingly for you all. For myself, I like to get takeout and play video games so that’s what I’m going to do.

Hey!! ^w^ Thanks for the image, and also double thanks for your interest in St. Agatha!! is it something you've played, or something you want to?

I am so normal about St Agatha I promise

So I’m way too autistic to just list everything ever so I’ll try to answer what’s directly in the ask then add a couple other things.

-I’ve been playing since around June

-I have been trying to see all the different routes and locations so far

-my favorites have been Norman, Denver, and Ian

-I hate Denver as a person but I really want to see how the routes go further with him, I think he’s really interesting as both a character and in the overall story

-as someone from Missouri who grew up in a small town then moved to St Louis, the storyline about the toxic waste/dirty water/dead horses was very close to what happened irl, even down to the cover ups. Tbh it was a bit of a jumpscare since that’s the first time I’ve seen any of that discussed outside of a few irl conversations

-I really like the art. At first I thought it was kinda lame but it conveys a certain feeling and the way you draw outside of the game just radiates a certain emotion. I can’t really explain but I think the purposeful simplicity really elevated the way it expresses itself, if that makes sense?

-the game so far reminds me of late 00s’ early 2010s’ alt music, like metric or the killers which is so specific and idk why that’s what comes up but it’s perfect and fitting

-I do think some of the characters end up looking really similar due to the art though

-admittedly I’m someone who likes slice of life games with looser storylines, and I like character interaction more than anything else in a sim game, so I’m definitely looking forward to any future updates

Anyway, that’s about all I can say before completely devolving into a full infodump lol
