My sleep paralysis has been getting worse so I've started keeping a journal of every occurrence to try to apply some trial and error to determine what my triggers are and what works to mitigate it. It seems to mostly happen on my back so I'm thinking it's a breathing issue and *not* my lightly cursed teddy bear Greengrass I've had since I was a baby. Then again despite having episodes since I was little, I never had sleep paralysis when I was in college and didn't bring my bear with me so who knows.

Up until recently I was always just frozen. But more and more I've experienced getting man-handled by a growling invisible force that twists my body into knots and tries to pull Greengrass away from me. It's made me not want to sleep without him, either because I feel like on some unconscious level he helps protect me and I have this weird guilt about leaving him to fight that thing alone if we're separated. I don't know, I feel like he's the only thing that experiences this with me even when my partner is asleep next to me in bed. What if during all that time away at college he was fighting this thing alone without me? We have each other's back now, and I'm not insecure anymore about sleeping with a stuffed bear. I know a lot of this is all in my head but if it has a tangible difference on how I experience this phenomenon that *feels real to me* then what difference does that make?

Interestingly, every time I experience the Hat Man I don't feel afraid or attacked like I do when the other entity is there. If anything it seems afraid of me seeing it, like once I do I'll wake up and it will stop being real. It wants to just linger a bit politely in this world and then leave, and I can't help but feel like it's watching over me in exchange for that.

It makes me question a lot of old memories I have from when I was small. A deep but calm voice behind me while I was under the blankets asking me if I was asleep. Then I'd wake up and turn around, startled but not the sort of terror most people describe, and no one being there.

All these little thoughts and experiences feel really disjointed to talk about compared to my normal writing because it's genuinely something I struggle to accept and talk about. It's really affected my thoughts on the lloigor and syndemes though I wish I didn't have that "opportunity" to gain inspiration from it. I haven't slept as well lately because of this, but I want to believe in this awkward space between the real world and my dreams I have Greengrass and the Hat Man to look after me instead of blaming them for each bad experience.

How were "left" and "right" finally standardized?

Not unreality sorry but I looked up my glasses Rx recently and for right and left eye the notes said "OD" and "OS." Interesting. Looked into it. I had known that "Sinister" meant left from some trivia about like left-hand paths and left-handed people being considered evil in medieval times and parts of the modern USA so "OS" being "Oculus Sinister" made sense in a Latin sort of way. And had I thought of the origin of the term "dexterity" I might not have been so surprised to read what "OD" meant but darned if "Oculus Sinister" and "Oculus Dexter" don't sound like the funniest mismatched couple of detectives possible.

One is a nerd. One is evil. Both... Are private eyes.

The thing about Cottagecore is that is a fetishized aesthetic of country life, divorced from labor and idealized by a primarily urban audience with a backward looking ethos of tradition.
