Happy Warframe 1999 day! I wanted to share this one months ago but did not have the time/energy to clean it up. Behold: Amir. My sweet cheese. My good time boi. This was a time where I had been given a variety of mocap to clean up, and since I had made both an arcade and pinball cycle, Geoff went: "Why not both?" So this is 4 animations that work together: 2 arcade loops that are actually around 30- seconds long, and then two keyframed transition animations that each last about a second (counting overshoot and settle). I had to grab the level and pray that nothing got tweaked in the time I animated this, because the positioning of the machines was integral to making sure it worked. It was a wild challenge to get this up and running properly with Scott, who helped implement it. I hope that it entertained you up until you see his new version!

(i've been thinking about this video for a long time, but this gifset by meg @ww2yaoi really inspired me to finish it. i also drew a lot of inspiration and themes from where to begin by ama @warriorgays. thank you both!)

i wanted this video to be a really comprehensive dive into both leckie’s and sledge’s arcs, which meant including the particularly horrible parts of the war: namely the dehumanization of japanese people, the way the marines used that dehumanization to justify their actions, and how it eroded their own humanity in turn. as such, i included a lot of elements of the show that i wouldn’t normally put into a video and that i don’t often see in visual fanworks, so i wanted to content warn accordingly. this video includes (in addition to the usual canon-typical violence and discussion of ptsd):

I have this idea for a computer game that my cousin, who is an avid gamer, and who also dabbles in building games told me was a terrible terrible idea. But I love it anyway.

On the surface, it starts out as like a "Taxi Driver simulator" or something like that. And you're just driving around to different places picking up random fares. But everybody you meet is kind of weird. They make idle chitchat that seems strange and kind of disconnected. And sometimes they mention these weird posters that have been around town. But unless you actually pay attention to what they are saying, you don't get into the actual meat of the game.

One of the mechanics of the game is that you have to get out of your car to go pick people up at the locations. Which gives you the opportunity to look around. If you actually look at one of these posters, it will give you what initially appears to be a side quest. But you go to a building listed on the poster, and you end up in Faerie going on magical quests to save a kingdom and "rescue our monarch." but the more quests you complete in that storyline, the more of your memories you get back, and it eventually becomes clear that you, in fact, are the monarch.

personally, I think this would be a fun game to play, and I also think it would be very funny to sell it for three bucks on steam as like, "Taxi Driver simulator," to see how many people in the reviews don't mention the second part of the game.

But I also probably won't ever create something like this, because I have a bazillion other projects that are much higher priority.

Oh well.

got reminded of it ... but i think about the symbolism of jax' model a lot bc i think its subtle!!! but its there

and i think the crux of it is that jax' model is very much a prey animal, something that contradicts his general tendency for reckless, mean bullshit. there could be something there about him having front-facing eyes too. and iirc gooseworx said the farm was a lie which i do take into account but also i think it helps w his generally very 'natural' or real-world-nature design components and ideas being evoked. he has clothes and these clothes are very minimal and hes a real animal fairly closely associated with farming or hunting and is very humanlike and his pocket just Has Mulch in it. even if the farm isnt real theres definitely something his design is evoking here

that and an idea ive thought of is that rabbits are VERY much animals that operate on instinct. they do a lot of things based on an immediate need, typically for survival, at least in the wild. and i dont know if id describe jax as fearful (some could argue he is in his own way, which i dont disagree with, but i think the implications can be a bit loaded- but theres many ways a person can be fearful) but he definitely operates on what he immediately wants. he wants to have fun. so he DOES. it doesnt matter what that entails. he wants control, so he takes it out on the others. it doesnt matter what that entails. etc etc. hes also running from something and i think the image of a rabbit fits that well

i think its deliberate that jax is the only design that actually revolves around an animal that we see. theres dobby and that worm on a string in the back but of the main cast its ALL humans or items, jax is the only one whos an animal (and probably still intended to be toy-like, but none of the others have distinct animals theyre meant to be). and it feels purposeful in a way i genuinely think about a lot. i cant place what its implying for certain because i genuinely dont think we have enough information on jax to fully understand his thought processes, but it does make him very connected to the real world, but in a distant way

the thing that always bothers me about the promotion of "tumblr alternatives" is that theyre all social media platforms. theyre all twitter 2.0 and thats not what im looking for. what i actually want is a blogging platform! thats why im here instead of bluesky or whatever

the next closest thing would be making a website, but that involves so many more steps to get a similar experience and is not as accessible to most as a platform that gives you a customizable template to work with, plus the option to easily find and keep up with countless other blogs

any other blogging sites i know of are either too professional, subscription based, or too bare bones to suit the average internet user for a more casual approach

Hi so sorry for pestering you again but how do you do art studies

This does not bother me at all, I love talking about it! No worries ^^

Here are some concept art gems of oddly specific gems I've tried figuring out. I usually start tracing the general shape. "Boooo tracing bad" you may say. Ok whatever, move the tracing layer to the side and now that you have a more clean image of it, draw it again to make a new form. I feel like the sketches can show that better.

When I talked about art studies I meant for SU designs in general. I feel like something really important that people miss are proportions. The ""general rules"" I follow are: Bigger gem= smaller head / Smaller gem= bigger head

A neat way to do art studies to figure out proportions are references sheets (wich I should actually do more often lmao) Or character analisis! (Ignore that this is outdated haha)

Not SU but screw it, good example. A way I tend to figure out a character is by just, sketching the character and finding what I'm comfortable with. Art study is just a general word I should not have said that xsbkqxsjgkxqsklgl

I do not know how to properly describe art studies, I'm hoping this spam helped?
