This the blog dedicated to my Fantasy Life AU! This is to help organize updates, art and information for said AU. I'm still figuring out a lot of details so I thought this could help with that! This also, however, acts as an ask blog as well! You can ask me about the lore or ask the characters themselves! Yep, you can ask the main Eight whatever ya want- within reason. ANYWAYS- it's an ask/rp blog for organizing with a dash of random FL content I find! I'll put character info, rules and general info under da cut. Explore the Eight of Lunares world and have fun, safe travels adventurer :D

Greetings and welcome to the Eight of Lunares archives, I, Writer, shall be your guide! Since I made all this, I'll catch ya up to speed, alrighty?

⭐First, let’s list off the main Eight: We have Itri, Meradith, Oak, Niko & Sweet Tea, Nashira, Agate, Parsnip & Torrent. This has most of their information AND their art so I recommend checking those out :)

⭐Now here’s the summary of what this AU is (I will probably have to update it in a different post on my own time but for now this will suffice.)

⭐Also I think the Eight of Lunares AU tag on my main would be nice as well so there ya go.

Reading up on invasive plants continue to be a mistake because now that the garlic mustard's died back I am instead seeing dog-strangling vine everywhere. Admittedly Vincetoxicum rossicum and Vincetoxicum nigrum are pretty metal names but they really are out there blanketing the edge of every disturbed field and choking out the rest of the plant life...

#plant talk #t #i was interested in them for fibre reasons so at least i won't have to feel bad for harvesting them #this is a big reason why I'm trying to familiarize myself with invasive plants tbh #it's easy to confuse them with native milkweed at first but they're starting to flower now and the flowers are very distinct #i actually spent like 3 hours last night comparing their flowers to flowers of other milkweeds/dogbanes #because i was like there's SO many of them 😰#but... i guess that's what invasive plants do...#another way to tell them apart from native milkweeds is that the milkweeds are all being munched on by caterpillars #(not monarch caterpillars. these ones were black)#(there are other leptidora that are obligate herbivores on milkweed but i don't know what they are)#soooo. yikes.#these vines don't strangle dogs btw. no one knows why they're called that #i was gonna see if i could get anything workable out of garlic mustard but i waited too long #but Canada did release those weevils that only feed on garlic mustard so i don't think they're as big of an issue anymore #at least compared to these #which afaik don't really have any biological controls #if i harvest them I'll probably have to harvest in the evening right before the sun sets because i saw them growing among something that #looks suspiciously like ragweed. which is fine aside from the allergies. but ragweed also looks like wild carrot and wild parsnip #which are ABSOLUTELY NOT FINE and they will burn you like acid if you touch their sap and then go into the sun #no thank you !!#there's a few common plants that look like wild parsnip #but uhhhhhhh I'm not touching that lol #also found some wild grapes growing with them though! yum 😋#i don't care much for the grapes but the young shoots are sooooo good if you cook them up. they taste lemony

Ah, so tell me Sugar or Salt for better preservation?

salt! especially when you're working with dry preservation, which is what it's being used for typically. sugar will attract bugs and other things which will eat away at the specimen, along with not drawing out the moisture nearly as well / at all.

but if you're working with things like rabbits feet, which are intended to be dry at the end, you'd think that the process involves just drying them, right? but you'd be wrong! the process (at least that i've followed in the past) involves soaking them twice, once in a soapy water mixture to remove parasites, then in a high concentrate isopropyl alcohol, rinsing thoroughly between steps.

processes vary depending on what you're working on. another example is that for the rooster i'm planning to take the wings from, i'm going to need to both remove his wings, and go through the process of removing the flesh while also keeping the skin in tact around his bones, since i'm going to be effectively stuffing the void with cotton, so that everything lays properly when its all dried. those are actually going to be dried in salt, which is primarily because he was a domestic animal and i know where he'd been.

My doctors, today: good news! because of Reasons, you'll have to be induced at week 37

#it's like i planted carrots and i've done a pretty good job watering and fertilizing them #and a few days before i'm supposed to harvest them i learn that 1. they're actually parsnips not carrots #and 2. i have to harvest them tomorrow or they might rot #like... it isn't *that* different from what i was expecting #and what differences there are don't actually matter in the end anyway #but it's still disappointing somehow #and i have to do it way earlier than i thought i would #anyway in about five days i'll be a mother #thanks to my shitty traitorous body #at least babby is looking healthy #he just smol #and a libra now for sure #not that that really matters #but. i had Expectations for this birth for ~8 months #and having them whipped out from under me at the 11th hour has been. Challenging.#good thing my spouse is fucking awesome #and let's face it: very soon now i'll be far too busy freaking out over my new responsibilities as a parent to even remember any of this #at least i'll be able to have sushi and deli meat and multiple coffees and coke again #coca-cola i mean. not... not the other coke #and the gestational diabetes should be over! so yay cake and cookies and ice cream and candy #(i promise to eat healthy and exercise too; just let me have this okay)#can't wait to do this all over again like 2 or 3 years from now!!!!!!!!#hgbggfhbgghhgbfhh

Gotta love when someone starts complaining about their mean spinster great-aunt and you’re just like.. I’m in this photo and I don’t like it

#went out for dinner with my mom; her friend & her friend’s daughter-in-law and my mom’s friend started describing ‘great-aunt beryl’#who was engaged during the war (no one seemed to know which war) but the guy died and she never got engaged or married again #and remained a spinster. all of which is a bit too relatable #so this woman hates everyone and all she does is knit dolls’ clothes for the church #which sounds like something i would do if i was in any way religious. i think the only way i differ from her is that she has a very small #appetite & apparently describes herself as ‘like a little sparrow’ in that she’ll just pick at her dinner #whereas i pretty much cannot be filled. i’ll eat a three course meal and want ice cream afterwards. case in point: now #in fairness i did leave my veggies but that was because the sprouts were rock hard; i hate carrots and the cauliflower cheese had become #liquid. i ate the potatoes and the parsnips and i gave the stuffing a go even though i knew it would be a textural nightmare #(and i was right)#if you give me something i love i simply won’t stop eating it. case in point: the cheese board <3 #but yes. my destiny is to be somebody’s spinster great-aunt who they complain about #‘great-aunt ellen was in love once but the guy moved to hawaii without telling anybody so now all she does is eat cake #and knit hats for nobody in particular’#personal

Every time someone complains about pointers and spaniels having docked tails I want to congratulate them on never having to witness their dog be stuck in bur trees or dog strangling vine or reeds or any other really dense brush around water. I don't need another limb to get tangled, 4 is scary enough.

#guess who went bunny brained into the marsh tonight in 35 C heat?#she was stuck for 20 minutes and was making enough noise (she could barely move) so we weren't sure where she was and both my mom and i were #(up until this spring she has 95% perfect recall this bunny epidemic has broken her so no more evening off leash walks)#she ok now just really tired and slimy #we checked her eyes paws and ears and they are fine and she walking good she recovered from being overheated in like 45 minutes #it was terrifying for all of us #my dad broke some of it up and when she came out she went straight into my moms knees and she was whale eyeing for 15 minutes after #it took 20 minutes because i had to run home to get my dad and his boots because obviously this section of the marsh is surrounded by wild #parsnip and as long as she's moving and not making distress noise my mom and i in tshirts shorts and sandals can't risk that #we both also have big time chronic pain blanace and aren't strong enough to get from the road down into the ditch and through truly a wall #of plants but it was truly terrifying and similar situation have happened before and if she had her tail they would definitely happen more #like she isn't strong enough that if her tail got that tangled that she could pull herself out #also i had my first pots attack in 8+ months because of all the running and panic in that heat #(also this is the environment all of those breeds are made for and it's less of an issue for short coated large/strong breeds britts are #smallish and feathery so it would be a big problem)

As someone who didn't get the Stardew Valley hype for the longest time (because we didn't have a device that could play it and we didn't bother to watch anyone play it on YouTube), we get it now.

Also, we messed up. Thought the seasons were 30 days. Planted parsnips on day 26. Fucking fuck.
