Jogo do Ana Nominations 2024
Although the Jogo do Ano, the Portuguese Game of the Year Award is less well known than its German counterpart, the Spiel des Jahres, it is perhaps more relevant to experienced gamers as it recognises heavier games, or “gamers’ games”.  Starting in 2006, it is chosen by members of Spiel Portugal with each choosing ten games of their choice. The five nominees of the year are then played again and…

Friday Night Shots - Old vs New?
Friday Night Shots - Old vs New? @garphillgames @gmtgames @_dailymagic_ @BoardAndDice
Welcome back! I know it’s been a couple of weeks, but I was taking some time putting a new bar up. With heated seats! I hope that works ok and isn’t a fire hazard. Oops. Anyway, have a seat and let me get you something to drink. We’ll just avoid that charred seat over there. I’ll also turn down the music. I’m not sure how that “Color Me Bad Greatest Hit” CD got in there, but I’ll have to…

Ans feelings my friends ARE ENERGY that is ehy you FEEL attracted to the energy of stones. Now look at this... important parts of egyptian culture besides energy that we used through stones (even your blood ir a mineral btw, the water from your body is a mineral also) was our outfits.. our identity... so egyptian care for music and sound(re usable energy), stones(nucleum of energy) , fabrics and funeral rites... and that was the inception of art.

The 9 Gates of Hell - tag: 9goh wip
Genre: Fantasy
What is it about: Zero Plot Squad. Probably evil mages. A cult of evil mages, I mean.
Who’s in it:
Sami (fluid pronouns/they/them) - Sami is a normal human living in this magic world. They live in a small village near a cursed portal called Gate of Hell, with people that reject them because they are genderfluid. One day, a huge threat (haven’t decided what it is yet) comes to their village and they want to do something about it, so they go to the Gates. It’s said that if you give something in exchange, the Gate will grant you a wish. When they get there, a spirit tells them that their wish is too huge and would drain all of their life force. Sami doesn’t mind and makes the wish anyway. When they die and their soul is kind of floating in the dark void, a Gate guardian’s voice wakes them up and asks: Since you died here anyways, do you want to go to the afterlife, or become a Gate Guardian like us; a demon? And they take upon the offer.
Sanji (she/her, sometimes they) - Sanji is a veteran Gate Guardian, aka demon, and she is actually my first nb oc (she’s agender). She and Sami become best friends, and they both go on Guardian missions together. She is a little bit of a violent spirit.
Note A: No consistent plot yet lol.
Note B: Hard magic system (ish)
Extra: Possible character
Reinan (?) (he/him) - Main traits: Smart, skilled, childish,  stubborn. I just had the idea for this oc a while ago and haven’t fleshed him out. He is trans (ofc), and a sorcerer. Now, sorcerers are pretty rare in this world. I picked a former idea I had for Ein’s magic system for this one: Harmony X Chaos. Every single being is a mix of both, and depending on how much of each you have, you can cast magic. But if you have too much chaos, it consumes you; if you don’t have enough, you can’t do magic at all. To be able to foster such chaos, you need to have a nucleum: All demons and some other spirits have them, and if a human has one, we call them a sorcerer. This character would be one of these rare humans, and Sami and Sanji get the mission of protecting him from a cult. The Sorcerer Order or other big cults recruit sorcerers and the demons want to prevent them from getting their hands on this one. He’s pretty stubborn and petty, though, and is pretty pissed off that these demons appear and say he can’t do whatever he wants to. He is a bit younger than Sami was when they became a demon. I think maybe this Sorcerer Order wants to do something that will threaten the balance of the world, and the Gate Guardians want to stop them. Maybe they want to take over the world?
(I had this idea out of a bunch of doodles I did some years ago.)

Essen 2023
Today is the final day of this edition of the largest games fair in Europe and arguably the world, the Internationale Spieltage.  Known to gamers worldwide simply as “SPIEL” or “Essen”, the annual fair is of particular significance as many new releases are scheduled to coincide with the event just in time for Christmas sales.  Following the recent change in management, this year there were quite…

Best dongles for macbook pro

BEST DONGLES FOR MACBOOK PRO FULL
We've thought about everything, factoring in how each model will perform when being used at home or out-and-about. More about this storyĮvery product in this list has been assessed thoroughly to ensure it will perform exactly as a recommended pick should. Hubs that are designed to live in one spot tend to be larger and heavier devices that are less likely to get knocked around on your desk, whereas hubs designed for life on the move tend to be lighter, smaller and easier to take with you. Different hubs are designed with different use cases in mind, and opting for the wrong one could leave you with a pretty inconvenient device. At home or on the go?įinally, it's important to think about whether your hub will be used exclusively at home or if will you want to take it out with you too. If you're used to charging with a 100W charger and your hub only supports 65W, it will charge much slower or may not even be compatible at all.
BEST DONGLES FOR MACBOOK PRO FULL
If you opt for a hub that offers power delivery, it's important to check the wattage it supports in order to get the full benefit. Of course, if you have multiple USB-C ports, you could use one for charging and one for the hub, which might save some cash too. If your laptop charges by USB-C then you might want to look for a hub that offers USB-C power delivery pass through. If you'll be plugging in something that requires a high transfer speed, such as an external SSD, then you'll want to pay particular attention to the speeds offered by the hub, but for things like mice and keyboards, it won't matter as much. In that case, you'd look for a hub with HDMI output, at least two USB ports and a 3.5mm audio socket. We'd recommend thinking about all the devices you're likely to need to plug in at once and making sure that your chosen hub has all the required ports.įor example, a typical home office setup might include a monitor, a keyboard, a mouse and a headset or speakers. It's a fairly simple one, but it can be incredibly easy to overlook a port if you're not careful. If you need a bit more help narrowing down the options, here are some things that we recommend thinking about before choosing a hub. Since they may be the right fit for some people, however, we've listed them below.Ĭhoosing a quality USB-C hub can be quite an overwhelming task, especially with such a variety of ports, styles and standards on offer. In all of our roundups, there are also many products we test that don't make the final cut. We don't just take into account our own testing, either, but also consumer reviews, brand quality and value. No matter the subject area, we always consider a range of factors when it comes to recommending devices - and apply the same process before a new device enters our top five selections. When initially deciding what we believe to be the best USB-C hubs currently available, we spent hours testing and researching. It'll let you hook up memory cards, an HDMI cable and two USB-A cables, which might not be the most cutting-edge range of options, but is likely to be more than enough for a lot of people who just want a couple of extra ports to play around with. Apple's own official USB-C dongle, for example, only has three ports, but it represents pretty poor value compared to this option from Anker. Some people won't be on the lookout for dozens of ports in one hub, though - a simple little dongle might just be all they need. However, we also think it's worth checking out the Moshi Symbus Mini, Kingston Nucleum USB-C adapter, Belkin USB-C 4-Port Mini Hub and the Anker USB C Hub Adapter 5-in-1. What are the best USB-C hubs? Our top recommendation is the Twelve South StayGo. These devices let you hook your laptop or tablet up to a whole variety of accessories and other devices, making them a must for anyone working from home or looking to have the option to do so more comfortably. That's why we've rounded up some amazing hubs for you to take a look at. If you've only got one port to play with, doing things like charging and passing your display to a monitor at the same time can be a nightmare. Best cheap home printer: The best printers for documents and photos.Whether it's charging, display connections or any number of peripherals, it's a port that lets you do it all, but one downside to the revolution it's brought with it has been that some laptops and tablets have taken the opportunity to make it the only port they come with. (Pocket-lint) - USB-C is a wonderful thing - it's taken a fair amount of time for the standard to truly spread around the industry, but now more laptops and computers than ever ship with USB-C ports that can be used for all manner of things.

USB Type A、HDMI out

I've previously posted about Barrage (2019) [x] [x], which was about a an alternate 1930s where hydropower rather than fossil fuels was the main source of electricity. Nucleum (2023), which has 50% designer overlap, is set in an alternate future in which nuclear fission has been discovered in 19th-century Saxony.
In this game, players build buildings and railroads, and connect the buildings to power plants and uranium mines (or imported coal) to power them for victory points. The game feels very open-ended at the beginning of the game. Powered building in Prague are worth double points, but Prague is far from any sources of coal, so it's a terrible place to start when you haven't dug any uranium mines, and there's only one nuclear-capable power plant on the map at the start of the game.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Players take turns by using action tiles or passing for income - money, workers, and VP. Money is needed to build urban buildings and import coal and to purchase action tiles; workers are need to build mines, turbines, and railroad track.
The rub is that (somewhat like cards in Newton), action tiles also serve as the railroad links that you build, so extending your network requires deciding which action tiles you are willing to give up. (Below are a set of starting tiles on the right, and a sampling of various purchasable tiles that might come out during a game on the left.) When used as track, if an end of a tile matches the color of the city or track tile it is connecting to, you get to take that action(s) on top of your main action of building track.
Tumblr media
Each player will have the same starting actions, but in different permutations. The actions are buy another tile(s), build an urban building, build a mine or turbine, take a contract, and power a building. There are also icons that bump you up on the income tracks.
They also have asymmetric boards of "experiments" (asymmetric bonuses and powers that can be obtained), although I would not say the game feels highly asymmetric until people unlock their top-level power. My experiment board is visible at the left edge of the top-right picture here.
Like Barrage, there are also contracts to fill and neutral buildings on the board, which can be helpful for tempo.
I've only played the one time so far, but this seems likely to be my game of the year for 2023. (Voidfall also has a shot, but I suspect that's going to be a challenge to get to the table before the year is over, because of how long a game it is.) The main downsides are that setup was a somewhat cumbersome and that the game is an incredible table hog.

Can you tell me more about Droners? Looks nice
I SURE CAN! I'm gonna go ahead and give an excessive amount of detail because some things weren't said in the show but I figured it out by looking at stuff online.
It's a French cartoon but the English dub is currently being released in Australia on ABC ME (so if you're Australian or have a good VPN you can watch it online for free!)
quick heads up tho, Australia is airing the show COMPLETELY out of order. The proper episode order is listed here on trakt.tv
DRONERS is a show about a bunch of teenagers competing in a drone racing competition on Whale Island - an island owned by Wyatt Whale, the owner of WhaleCorp. WhaleCorp is a tech manufacturing company that created(?maybe?) G.E.N.I.E.s, which are little floating electric eel things that power the drones. Specifically they power drones also created by WhaleCorp. The competition seems to be a way for Wyatt to find a new apprentice.
Here's Wyatt Whale and his G.E.N.I.E., Neptune!
Tumblr media
The other big drone manufacturing company is Teach Tech, founded by Gavinda Teach. Her drones do not have G.E.N.I.E.s, instead they're powered by nucleum (which is radioactive and toxic to the environment, naturally). She’s very gaslight girlboss. Here's her:
Tumblr media
OK so now for the drone racer characters. All of the racing teams have their own little personalized hut they live in on Whale Island while competing (you can see in the background of each of the pics below).
First we have the main characters: Team Tikis!
Tumblr media
From left to right: Mouse (mechanic), Oro (G.E.N.I.E.), Corto (pilot), & Enki (enginerd) (yes they call them enginerds yes it’s an official title). Their drone is called Maroro.
Corto’s the main character and she acts like a very typical shounen protagonist, I love her. Mouse has a whole thing with being a Shore Scrubber and part of the Ruto Clan (ill talk about this more later) and all we know about Enki is that he was at least partially raised in the jungle. These guys frequently talk about how winning this competition is the only way they can save their island, Nui (but we don’t know the details of that just yet).
Next team is...The Bees!
Tumblr media
From left to right: Buzz (mechanic), Flora (pilot), Jelly (G.E.N.I.E.), & Fuzz (enginerd). Their drone is called Bumblebee!
We don’t know much about their motivations yet. Flora and Enki might have a little romance going on, hard to tell yet. And no I don’t know Buzz or Fuzz’s genders I don’t think they’ve spoken yet so that’s fun
Next team is...The Starfish!
Tumblr media
Left to right: Debbie (enginerd/mechanic), Deejay (pilot), Shiny (G.E.N.I.E.). Their drone is called Aquablaster!
They’re actually a band/celebrity trio more than a racing team. Their motivation for being in the competition seems to be to gain more followers on social media and get more fans for their music.
Next is...The Tao Twins!
Tumblr media
Left to right: Lotus (G.E.N.I.E.), Sun (pilot), Monk (enginerd/mechanic). Their drone is called Wushu!
I don’t remember if they’ve talked about their motivations for being in the competition, Sun said the people of his island are counting on him but they didn’t give any detail yet. Sun is also Corto’s love interest and they’re very funny together. ALSO he’s blind, fun facts. We don’t know much about Monk yet except he’s very sassy.
Next is The Cold Kings!
Tumblr media
Left to right: Manta (pilot), Shino (enginerd/mechanic). Their drone is called Sub-Zero!
This is one of the two Teach Tech teams. We don’t know much about their motivations but Manta is a very angry guy and Shino seems to support it and find it annoying at the same time. You get it.
Next is...The Mirages!
Tumblr media
Left to right: Adam (enginerd/mechanic), Hannah (pilot). Their drone is called Fatamorgana.
This is the other Teach Tech team. They seem to be working directly under Gavinda Teach but we don’t know why just yet.
Next is The Sirens!
Tumblr media
Left to right: Victoria (enginerd), Mina (pilot), Nemo (G.E.N.I.E.), Laurel (mechanic). Their drone is called Nautilus!
We don’t know their motivations but we DO know that they’re British so does that mean England exists in this universe? I have no idea. I’m sure you can tell what Mina’s personality is just by looking at her. They’re very cute though I love Laurel.
And the last team is The Pirates!
Tumblr media
Left to right: Max (enginerd/occasional pilot), Patch (G.E.N.I.E.), Shark (pilot/occasional enginerd), & Ed (mechanic). Their drone is called Claw!
I saved this team for last because they’re the Shore Scrubber team! The show has yet to fully explain what Shore Scrubbers are, but it seems to be a class of people that are stereotyped by non-Shore Scrubbers as being aggressive liars who will cheat and steal. Their motivation in this competition seems to be to prove that Shore Scrubbers are just like everyone else (but they haven’t talked about it really).
Mouse is also a Shore Scrubber so she really likes The Pirates and will defend them from the other characters being classist/bigoted towards them.
There’s also some backstory for the show involving the Terrans and the Aquas - Terrans being humans and Aquas being ancient creatures that may be extinct and we don’t know much about them right now.
Anyway the show (for the 13 episodes that I’ve seen) is just the teams competing in drone races run by Wyatt Whale, first there’s a test race and then some character development and learning and then there’s a real race. It’s a points-based competition and not elimination-based so all of the teams are still around at the end of those 13 episodes! I don’t know where things are gonna go for the rest of the season and I don’t know when they’re coming out :(
[edit 3/1/2023] the episodes are listed on the show's wikipedia page now! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Droners
theres also production codes listed so at this point i dont know what the right order for the season is. the show is pretty episodic so its fine but they never fully explain whats going on during the season lol
you can watch the full first season here: https://kimcartoon.li/Cartoon/Droners
