was assigned to read the sams/macdonald translation of threepenny opera and then listen to the song recordings from either the 1976 nysf version (translated by maheim and willet) or the 1954 original broadway cast (translated by blitzstein) for my costume design class
and i've been really wanting to watch or read something by bertholt brecht for ages and i always get down a huge rabbithole of comparing translations with stuff i'm interested in so i ended up reading multiple articles about translation differences before i read or listened to anything. and in the end even though she said not to bother with reading the lyrics in the script we were given and to just use it for the dialogue and stage directions, i ended up comparing the translation of all three versions of the song and listening all the way through for every single song lol. and it was kinda insane like of course there was the HUAC era self-censorship happening in the translation of the blitzstein version but also there were some fascinating modernizations in the sams version i read that i'm trying to place because they seem a bit too modern for even when i read it was initially released so i'm wondering if they were specific to the production that was credited at the beginning of the script my professor gave us?? but even beyond the obvious stuff like that there were just so many subtle wording differences that totally changed what it felt like the lines were hinting at throughout. and something like this where its written by a marxist but also has a lot of people interested in it for its place in musical theater history and stuff, theres just so many different ways people could be coming into it and prioritizing things in how they translate different lines. so like. time to learn german ig lol if id ever want to get to the bottom of this
but god yeah. would like to watch/read more brecht plays. i really liked the music too and its kind of insane realizing how much this obviously had an influence on some of my favorite musical theater songwriters like kander and ebb

@nysmallfarma Come celebrate the day NY legalized adult-use cannabis and homegrow by joining @nysmallfarma and partners at the event: Creating Opportunities for Social Equity in NY Cannabis Cultivation. Friday March 31, 2023 9:30AM – 5:00PM 299 Scholes Street Brooklyn, NY   9:30 - 10:00 Introduction to Cultivation 10:00 - 10:45 Opening up Cultivation to Social Equity 11:00 - 12:00 Exhibiting 12:00 - 1:00 Lunch break – Introduction to Homegrow 1:00 - 2:30 Cannabis Plant Science and Terpenology Training 2:45 - 3:30 Budtender Training - Certification 3:30- 5:00 Exhibiting Although the agricultural economy has grown, the share of Black farmers in the United States has declined over the last century. Today, just 1.4 percent of farmers identify as Black or mixed race compared with about 14 percent 100 years ago. Federal programs and policies that excluded Blacks from land purchases were passed prior to passage of the 14th Amendment, the absence of legal protections such as wills that could have facilitated transfer of property to the next generation, and limited access to capital through discriminatory lending practices have all contributed to this decline. Taken together, the inability of Black Americans to fully participate in the land market has resulted in a lost opportunity for generational wealth creation. We must increase representation of Black and traditional market cultivators in cannabis farming. To do so, we must address issues of land access, resource availability, and incubators for social equity in cultivation. Addressing these opportunities could generate measurable economic and social value. Please come out to join NYSF and partners to begin the discussion of what framework, resources, policies, and practices need to be in place now to address the inequity in the agricultural sector and how to create viable and level pathways for those populations who have been historically underrepresented in U.S. cultivation (BIPOC, women, and LGBTQIA + communities). Continued in the comments. (at Times Square, New York City) https://www.instagram.com/p/CpnixnAsk0u/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

योग का बनता मज़ाक रोकने के लिए जरूरी है योग कानून।
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media

FULFILLMENT SUSANNAH FLOOD SKIN
FULFILLMENT SUSANNAH FLOOD FULL
Otherwise, we find ourselves in these characters’ heads - which is actually more interesting than finding ourselves almost in their beds. The show, well-directed by Ethan McSweeny, is funniest when the situations become increasingly heated while the tone remains matter-of-fact, as when Michael and Sarah go straight from earnestly discussing A.A.’s “Big Book” to sex.īradshaw falters mainly with Michael’s condo-board president (Denny Dillon), a caricature whose behavior makes no sense. or for a receiver on my estates, or for any distribution of my estates, my express will is that. You can see how Michael would be stressed, especially since he’s a perpetually dissatisfied type - particularly in restaurants. SUSANNAH CRADOCK (1668-1743) AND THE BANNER FAMILY 9. He’s just as powerless against his obnoxiously loud upstairs neighbor, Ted (Jeff Biehl). years of making the kind of content that brings no creative fulfillment.
FULFILLMENT SUSANNAH FLOOD SKIN
But is he being held back because he’s black, or because he drinks? With the support of his colleague and girlfriend, Sarah (Susannah Flood), Michael’s able to get sober, but he can’t do much about his skin color. Leonard Knox (Reg-Jean Page), Kate Littlejohn (Susannah Flood) and their. Here, the plot revolves around Michael (Gbenga Akinnagbe), a lawyer who’s yet to make partner after nine years at his firm. What hasn’t changed is Bradshaw’s concern with race, gender and power.
FULFILLMENT SUSANNAH FLOOD FULL
“Fulfillment” is also one of the playwright’s most accessible and entertaining works - a pretty funny comedy, but with full frontal. At least here the sex is consensual and shared by adults who aren’t related to each other, which wasn’t always the case in his earlier shows. This is actually pretty conservative by Thomas Bradshaw’s standards. Conn (Tiny Dynamite), Denny Dillon (SNL, My One and Only), Susannah Flood (Scenes from a Marriage, Love and Information), and Peter McCabe (Prophet). Indeed, Yehuda Duenyas had his hands full with “Fulfillment,” which features graphic intercourse, erotic spanking and choking. Burns (Playwrights Horizons) The Sonic Life of a Giant Tortoise (Pla圜o) Fulfillment (The Flea) As You Like It (The Public/NYSF), Bird in the Hand (Fulcrum). A heavy drinker since he was a teenager, he also decides to swear off liquor, with the assistance of his new girlfriend and co-worker, Sarah (Susannah Flood), who initiates him into Alcoholics. When a show has its own “sex choreographer,” it’s best to leave the kids at home. In Chapter three, Nature stood still: The Poetry of Susannah Hawkins, I.
