Okay so now’s the time to reveal I don’t actually know that much about dnd mechanics. I’ve never actually played it lol, so all my knowledge is from various dnd shows and podcasts I’ve seen over the years

Now with that:

Caleb Rowar - my half-orc guy, he’s basically “the leader” of the group and he’s also a paladin. I don’t think he’s ever thought of himself or self care in the past 3 years

Gray Elaran - high elf, pretentious theatre kid. He’s a bard. There’s no other option there

Annie Hawkins (whose actual name is Marianne. Annie’s a nickname) - human cowgirl. She’s a ranger, and also she does artificing but as a hobby. She’s basically the lesbian you go to during an apocalypse, she definitely has doomsday supplies

Erin Willows - my sweet cowardly half elf boy. He’s a warlock. Now how he got to be a warlock is that his patron used to know his parents and is a weird aunt type figure. He really wishes he just chose wizard classes. He really does

Fern Viruk - littlest goblin guy. Also a barbarian. They’re just a lil guy with a huge fucking mace. Terrifying in fights, bad at talking to people.

Molly Graves - the new girl of the group, her first day was the worst. Firbolg fighter, I haven’t actually decided on her weapon yet. One day

One day I’ll read those dnd handbooks and understand how classes actually work. But until then I’m just having fun here

Also! Fun fact “Radiant Rejects” isn’t even their party name, it’s supposed to be one of those “Say hi Intrepid Heroes” bits (like Magical Misfits or Questing Queens). I’m very emotionally attached to the name tho so it is not changing

Mèlgiri ám Agam (ghost: An), Silent Brood-turned-Lucent Brood guardian, who rejected a life of violence toward her fellow lightbearers to focus on the threat in the Disciple's Bog.

Happenstance and shared language allowed her to make acquaintance of an awoken hunter, Selene, who had originally come to the Throne seeking a cure to the curse afflicting her home.

After the defeat of Rhulk, Mèlgiri volunteered to help Selene as she'd helped her, setting to work deciphering the Witch Queen's secrets using insights only one of Savathûn's hive would have. Their combined efforts revealed the 15th Wish.

Character themes? Character themes! I don't know if any of y'all have a process with OC playlists, but mine is literally just throwing anything with the OC's vibe into their music collection and then forgetting I have a playlist at all.

Doesn't help that I hit a massive creativity roadblock earlier this year.

But I was inspired by a post from @archaiclumina, and the resulting itch never quite went away. So here are some instrumental tracks that hit the OC vibes just right...

Yein Que-Sae

Despite their intimidating size and appearance, Yein is typically very polite and friendly to others. When they speak, their voice rolls forth in a low, comforting growl -- a gentle rumble reminiscent of smooth river rocks tumbling over each other.

Yein is no stranger to the ugliness of the star, and it's ravaged their appearance. Even so, they are sworn to preserve and honor the sanctity of all life. To achieve this, they greet the world they have devoted themself to with an open heart. They give their love to others freely, in spite of all their fears and their pain. In combat, they will raise their shield before they draw their sword.

Yein is a fighter, and this is how they fight.

Sacheo Maz-Yeh

Sacheo loves his sibling, but he is very much not like them. Here is a gaping wound of a man, a scar upon the aetheric tapestry woven into the world.

Anyone with special sight can see the rot he has allowed to spread across his own heart. His sorrow runs deep, and rather than try to heal from it, he's nurtured it with poison until it grew into an unquenchable rage. He wields this rage expertly, however, and directs it at (perceived) threats against himself and his clan.

To his credit, Sacheo is an effective protector. For him, no sacrifice is too great.

Lia A’yue-Len

House Amedelune is built upon the A'yue-Len bloodline and their enduring legacy of survival. Little of the old clan remains today except for Lia and the family she guides with her iron fist.

The youngest of her generation, she was determined since her youth to carve for herself a life that could be lived on her own terms. She has shed the blood of many to achieve this; her spear knows the taste of dragon and elezen flesh very well.

Currently, Lia remains the head of House Amedelune and continues gazing ahead into the future. After all, the present is fleeting.

I do have a few other OCs floating around, but these three are kind of the "mains" in my head. Hope you enjoyed.

I have a Psychonauts OC whose whole purpose is to be my vessel for my unspoken repressed trauma and issues but have psychic powers instead of therapy.

Still gets therapy. But cool powers as well!

mask: Does your OC wear a mask, literally or figuratively? What goes on beneath it? Is there anyone in their life who gets to see who they are under the mask?

Rae puts on a "everything is fine and I know how to deal with people" mask every time he steps out into the world. He LOVES people, yeah, but he also can't stand them. They make his anxiety spike so badly.

On the surface, he's maybe just a little jumpy, but below, Rae is absolutely writhing in embarrassment and agony trying to get words out that don't come off as stilted or weird. The mask also comes into full swing during his performances; kids don't want to watch someone having a panic attack on stage. You're supposed to be a calming, fun presence.

The only people who get to see Rae for all his fully anxious glory are their adoptive parents, Red and Blue. Violet hasn't quite reached that point in their relationship yet.

I imagine a stereotype of hive experts / enthusiasts being grim loners in dark clothes with arcane artifacts who conduct their experiments in total secrecy unless it gets so out of hand it draws Vanguard attention. Then picture Selene, Dreaming City Fashion Hair Barbie™ and Lilith, literally just some warlock, breaking into immaculate conversational hive causing anyone around them who didn't know to mentally stunlock.

One of my favorite moments from my favorite movie. Thinking about the elation I felt when @justatheo asked me if I'd seen Everything Everywhere All at Once because Waymond reminded her so much of Yein.
