#oc: raspberry

I haven't drawn MLP next gen kiddos since like, 2016. So... Throwback time!

It was really fun to design these little ponies (Plus dragon)!

Notes: I didn't use bases, But I did use show screenshots as a starting point. I cheated lol

I am not 100% caught up on MLP (I originally drifted a bit from a show by about season 7) but I do have an idea how things end.

Character lore below the cut (It gets long):

Fizzle Dust:

Uses She/They pronouns interchangabley

Fizzle was spellborn from Twilight and Tempest, But surprisingly ended up being an earth pony. She is a bit taller than most ponies their age since her parents are both pretty tall

Ever since they were little, She's always wanted to be a royal guard

They feel like they have a lot of expectations on her shoulders, Since Tempest is a royal guard and Twilight is a princess. She tries to hide that though

Raspberry:

Uses any pronouns

Nopony was sure what the child of Fluttershy and Discord would end up looking like. Turns out, Discord's chaotic genetics seemed to awaken Fluttershy's dormant bat pony genetics, Thus ending up with Raspberry

Raspberry very rarely speaks, Using mostly squeaks and chirps

Unfortunately, She was bullied a lot as a kid, Not just for being a bat pony, But because he had a lot of weird interests growing up

They have a pet snake named Banana Sundae

Topaz:

Uses She/Her pronouns

Topaz was found as an egg with her birth parents being nowhere to be found. Fluttershy and Discord took her in to make sure she hatched safely

Unlike her Raspberry, Topaz is very talkative. She sometimes ends up going on for hours

She wants to care for animals like Fluttershy

She might be a part of this gen's CMC

Chocolate Fudge:

Uses She/Her pronouns

Chocolate is Pinkie and Cheese's second child

While she isn't quite as energetic as the rest of her family, She's still really bubbly and sweet

She has naturally straight hair but she makes it curly, Which is why it looks a little weird at the ends

She loves baking and wants to take over Sugarcube Corner someday

Prism Spectrum:

Uses She/Her pronouns

Prism was adopted by Rainbow and Gilda

She was born without a right hind leg, So she tends to fly more than she walks

She is the definition of chill

She sometimes struggles to show her emotions, Similarly to her parents

Apple Jewel:

Uses They/Them pronouns

Jewel is the spellborn child of Rarity and Applejack (They had Twilight's help though)

They are a wonderful artist who recently opened an art studio in Ponyville

They have always been heavily inspired by both of their parents since they're such hard workers

They sometimes paint so long, They forget to sleep, Which is why they often look tired

Blue Bow:

Uses She/Her pronouns

Blue was adopted by Coco and Rara

She lived most of her life in Manehattan. She moved to Ponyville where it's a bit quieter

She's a very talented song writer, But is too nervous to perform what she writes

However, She has a secret stage persona (Think of it as a Hannah Montana situation) named Golden Symphony. She's a lot more confident with her stage name

Omg can we hear more about raspberry? I didn’t know he existed but now I’m obsessed with him

YES I love Raspberry

Raspberry is very outgoing and extravagant, he’s very confident! All his movements and mannerisms are super exaggerated he just CANNOT sit still

He absolutely loves anything with bows, ribbons or ruffles on it, it is his weakness- it’s also sorta his trademark, he’ll add a bunch of that stuff to any clothes he makes, unless it’s a commission piece and he’s specifically asked not to

That being said he’s very aware of folk’s sensory needs when making garments, he has a bunch of different options for all sorts of different things (like requesting certain fabrics, excluding textures, patterns or colours, having the tag either moved from the collar or removed entirely etc)

While he does have a good creative flair on his own he does firmly hold someone’s preferences in mind if he’s making anything for someone else

He also likes to thrift most of his materials! It means he usually can’t create a piece more than once but he doesn’t mind that so much- he will buy new materials if necessary tho sometimes it’s hard to come by specific things second hand

Outside of his tailoring work he’s generally a little bit of a menace, he means well!! But he has a little bit of a vain attitude to him

He also considers himself to be the older one out of him and Rambutan, even though it’s only by a few minutes. Those are his minutes. He won.

He also jokes that Lychee’s hairstyle is a cheap imitation of his style because they look so similar- if anything Raspberry is copying Lychee but eh specifics

Raspberry is probably the one who collects the most stuff out of any of his siblings, he loves plushies, collectibles, blind boxes, figures, trinkets and anything he finds cute that he can display- his room definitely has a maximalist vibe to it

Can we hear some more about some of Lychee’s family? I know you’ve mentioned them before but I don’t know if we’ve gotten any details or backstory :3

Yeah absolutely!!

I’ve mentioned a few times that Lychee is the youngest of his siblings but did you know he has 7 of them

While the family has no particular last name they do refer to themselves as the Bayberry family!

Each of the Bayberry kids have a specialised psychic ability- mind reading, teleportation, telekinesis, cyrokinesis, hydrokinesis, clairvoyance, astral projection and empathy! They can all do a little of each, but they all have a specialisation.

Bayberry herself is a bit of a jack of all trades, and Cranberry specialises in elemental types of psychic powers

Every member of the Bayberry family has a necklace with a heart pendant and a pair of bracelets that help boost their psychic abilities

3 of the Bayberry family are deaf (Cranberry, Fig and Snowberry)- Bayberry and Cranberry made an active effort to teach their kids sign language as a second language growing up, so they can all speak in sign. This also helps Rambutan communicate, since he’s selective mute.

Their family home is big enough to comfortably house all of them! Technically only Bayberry, Cranberry, Rambutan and Lychee live there full-time, but the others visit so often it’s like they never left lol

Lychee does have a home of his own but he doesn’t use it just because of rough memories he has there- he also doesn’t have the heart to sell it

As far as jobs go here’s what each Bayberry does!:

Bayberry (therapist and psychiatrist), Cranberry (retired, ex-guard), Dragonfruit (Linguistic Professor), Pomegranate (Archaeologist), Grapefruit (singer/songwriter), Fig (veterinarian & teacher), Snowberry (Sculptor & Architect), Raspberry (Fashion Designer, also a streamer), Rambutan (Author), Lychee (ex-guard)

Also! While not all licensed therapists or psychiatrists most of the Bayberry’s have an extensive knowledge of psychology :}

Outside of that! Some silly facts:

Bayberry can be incredibly excitable and impulsive and she sometimes makes rash decisions as a result

Cranberry very much has I love my wife so much disease, utterly smitten

The bayberry kids are incredibly chaotic when put in the same space

All the older kids bully Lychee (lovingly) for being the baby

Lychee swears anyway, but he swears like a sailor around his siblings

Multiple members of the bayberry family are intersex

It’s a dead 50/50 split of who is left handed and right handed in the family

Raspberry and Rambutan are twins!
