*... And Intemperate
The 1966 New York City smog was a major air-pollution episode and environmental disaster, coinciding with that year's Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Smog covered the city and its surrounding area from November 23 to 26, filling the city's air with damaging levels of several toxic pollutants.
Anactoria (or Anaktoria; Ancient Greek: áŒÎœÎ±ÎșÏÎżÏία) is a woman mentioned in the work of the ancient Greek poet Sappho. Sappho, who wrote in the late seventh and early sixth centuries BCE, names Anactoria as the object of her desire in a poem numbered as fragment 16. Another of her poems, fragment 31, is traditionally called the "Ode to Anactoria", though no name appears in it.
The Badge Man is a figure that is purportedly present within the Mary Moorman photograph of the assassination of United States president John F. Kennedy in Dealey Plaza on November 22, 1963. Conspiracy theorists have suggested that this figure is a sniper firing a weapon at the president from the grassy knoll.
The Destroying Angel and Daemons of Evil Interrupting the Orgies of the Vicious and Intemperate is an 1832 English oil painting on canvas by English artist William Etty, first exhibited in 1832. Etty had become famous for nude paintings, and acquired a reputation for tastelessness, indecency and a lack of creativity. With The Destroying Angel he hoped to disprove his critics with an openly moral piece.
The 1881 world tour of King KalÄkaua of the Hawaiian Kingdom was his attempt to save the Hawaiian culture and population from extinction by importing a labor force from Asia-Pacific nations. Critics in Hawaii believed the labor negotiations were just an excuse to see the world. The 281-day trip gave KalÄkaua the distinction of being the first monarch to circumnavigate the globe.
The murder of Sir William de Cantilupe, who was born around 1345, by members of his household, took place in Scotton, Lincolnshire, in March 1375. The chief suspects were two neighboursâa local knight, Ralph Paynel; and the sheriff, Sir Thomas Kydaleâas well as de Cantilupe's entire household, particularly his wife Maud, the cook and a squire. The staff were probably paid either to carry out or to cover up the crime, while Paynel had been in dispute with the de Cantilupes for many years; it is possible that Maud was conducting an affair with Kydale.
The nuckelavee is a horse-like demon from Orcadian folklore that combines equine and human elements. British folklorist Katharine Briggs called it "the nastiest" of all the demons of Scotland's Northern Isles. The nuckelavee's breath was thought to wilt crops and sicken livestock, and the creature was held responsible for droughts and epidemics on land despite being predominantly a sea-dweller.
Surtsey is an uninhabited volcanic island located in the Vestmannaeyjar archipelago off the southern coast of Iceland. It was formed in a volcanic eruption which began 130 metres (430 feet) below sea level, and reached the surface on 14 November 1963. It was intensively studied by volcanologists during its eruption, and afterwards by botanists and other biologists as life forms gradually colonised the originally barren island.
The Tichborne case was a legal cause célÚbre that fascinated Victorian Britain in the 1860s and 1870s. It concerned the claims by a man sometimes referred to as Thomas Castro or as Arthur Orton, but usually termed "the Claimant", to be the missing heir to the Tichborne baronetcy.
"Well he would, wouldn't he?" is a British political phrase and aphorism that is commonly used as a retort to a self-interested denial. The Welsh model Mandy Rice-Davies used the phrase while giving evidence during the 1963 trial of the English osteopath Stephen Ward. Ward is considered to have been made a scapegoat for the Profumo affair, a scandal involving John Profumo, the Secretary of State for War. During the trial, Ward's lawyer James Burge asked Rice-Davies whether she was aware that Lord Astorâa hereditary peer and Conservative politicianâhad denied having an affair with her; Rice-Davies replied "Well he would, wouldn't he?"

Highland Park Whisky: Orkney Stories with Gwendoline Christieâ
The actor soaks up the natural beauty of the archipelago in the whisky brandâs biggest campaign to date.
Single malt scotch whisky brand Highland Park is celebrating its 225-year history with an ode to its Orkney home in a short film featuring actor Gwendoline Christie.
Director Charlie Thomas is behind the film, which goes live on Highland Parkâs social channels today (October 5).
âThe Orkney Seriesâ campaign will live across paid, earned and owned media between October and February, with an emphasis on the key markets of US, UK, APAC, Germany and the Nordics.
Christie was hands-on in the making of the film, beyond just starring in it, according to Highland Park, playing an instrumental role in shaping the creative direction of the campaign from the narrative to the props and costumes. ~The Drum

I've had the pleasure to meet and get the signature 3 dots tattoo from the world famous Apo Whang-Od! She was a busy lady tattooing all day at the age of 106 years old. We had some pretty good banter in the short time we spent together. She also took a liking to my husband, maybe a lil too much lmaooooo
The three dots tattoo represents herself and her two grand-nieces/apprentices: Grace Palicas and Ilyang Wigan. A simple but clear showcase of the continous tradition of tattooing in Buscalan.
The other design I've gotten was the kappi crab, which symbolises/represents: the traveller, protection, the world before creation and the guide. The kappi crab was an obsolete design that was revived by Apo Whang-Od herself. It was previously found all throughout the archipelago and was tied to various creation stories. The kappi crab is also associated with Angalo, the ancestor of the Ilokano people. And as part Ilokano I am truly grateful to receive this ancestral symbol to cherish it forever.
I had a wonderful time in Buscalan, the locals were absolutely lovely and were very patient when we were huffing and puffing through the trail up and down their mountains. The views were absolutely stunning and certainly helped distract from the pain of the fresh tattoo! đ€Łâš
I will definitely provide a healing update in the near future. It's been a few days and the redness has already gone down a lot. đâš

Favorite Final Fantasy Music (FFXI - Chains of Promathia)
We at the second expansion babyyyyyy!!! This is like, the end of the first arc of FFXI in a way, finishing up the story from the base game and Rise of the Zilart. Huge on story, lots of good characters, and maybe only a little confusing! I think this part of the soundtrack excels at the ambient or chill vibes, but there are some battle themes I do really like.
5. Gates of Paradise - The Garden of Ru'Hmet Like I said: this expansion is all about chill/ambient vibes. This is the song that plays in the final dungeon, very similar to Tu'Lia (it's the same architecture). The harp and the dissonance sounds like you're going through a maze (which fits cause this dungeon is absolutely a maze). The song is a lot of the same for a good while, until eventually the pan flute comes in, giving the song a windy, yet still empty vibe, then you bring in the aliens. And by that I mean a very strange synth noise that I absolutely love and it gives me more motivation to keep going through this very large dungeon.
4. Faded Memories - Promyvion This song might not seem like much, but neither does the area it plays in, and it fits perfectly. Promyvion is a void realm (in XI they call it Emptiness) that is basically the pinnacle of what is eating at the world. The creatures are strange, bug like soul things (if you've played XIV you'll see the model on the moon), and the landscape is incomplete white plains. I love the looping backing track making you feel dizzy, the deep synth bass, and the main melody feeling familiar, but sorrowful.
3. The Celestial Capital - Al'Taieu My favorite zone! Al'Taieu is super cool. The zone has you walking on this flat, teal lake; strange pink architecture with a giant orange portal in the sky. The creatures are extremely alien, with a mix of some looking strangely concrete, others glowing rainbow neon. (and then another one being so hard that it takes several cheating methods to kill and keeps getting buffed to avoid this) The song drones on, with a very fun synthy melody. The entire thing is alien, and I absolutely love it. The zone and the song work together perfectly in tandem; the zone is made for the song, and the song is made for the zone.
2. A New Horizon - Tavnazian Archipelago We're getting away from the strange and alien, and going towards something more grounded, yet still calm. I love the main wind instrument (I don't think it's a flute but it might be), as well as the sort of percussion (again not sure what instrument it is but it kinda fulfills that role) hitting in pairs of eighth notes, giving the song that beat that it needs without being too much. When the song rises more, bringing in the harp behind the main wind melody; it sounds beautiful. it sounds hopeful, it sounds free. This song really makes a strong impression, being the first new zone you enter in the expansion.
1. Onslaught Finally! A battle theme! This is the battle theme that plays when you're in a party, and with that big trill in the start, this feels like a war song. The horns feel triumphant, and then you get them into the main melody (which is so fun to listen to), hitting some high notes and taking sorts of steps down. I also love the flute repeating, spiraling downwards. The snare, tambourine (FFXI loves the fucking tambourine and I am here for it), and the timpani make perfect percussion to keep up that sort of battle vibe the song started with. Love this song.
Honorable mentions go to: Conflict: March of the Hero, Turmoil, Depths of the Soul, The Forgotten City - Tavnazian Stronghold, and each "Ode" piece.

What keeps the safety director of the most vulnerable spot in US up at night before hurricane season
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) â No place is more vulnerable to hurricanes in the 50 U.S. states than the Florida Keys. The chain of islands celebrated by singer Jimmy Buffett in his odes to tropical escapism is surrounded by water, jutting out 120 miles southwesterly from Floridaâs mainland to Key West with the Gulf and Atlantic Ocean on either side. boctlore directory
a good old world masterpost
everything you need to know (well, the basics at least) of my lore worlds that iâll post about on here, at some point. mostly for archivalâs sake.. future boct this goes out to you <3 you wanted me to âget more organisedâ so here it is.
i SWEAR youâll find at least one goofy. (hopefully?) letâs just say iâm diverse. thereâs more TBA, iâm just the cosmosâ laziest creature.
non-inclusive of my not-original stuff, maybe iâll make a separate post for that one (looking at you, pondwater from hit indie horror survival game signalis) but here it is gang! đ€ an ode to all the girlies who talk & think too much.. MY APOLOGIES FOR THE SHEER MUNDANITY OF MY MIND...
The Waiting World - think: neon signs and city streets, think ruins in the forest, think graffiti, think clashing architecture, tension between peoples, think of questions like âwhatâs yours? whatâs mine?â and the indomitable nature of, well, the natural world. the waiting world is a fantasy world focused on an archipelago nation (anjikhani-olahra) - 39 years independent after 171 years under the palms of a number conquering ghonsunwa (earthly realm) nations - as it experiences rapid advancement, a globalising world and unbalanced world power dynamics. a world between worlds (ghosunwa/underworld/knockoff-earth & ghonshogwa/aboveworld) inhabited by some pretty neat-lookinâ guys with horns and tails.
despite all itâs culture, itâs inter-ethnic quarrels, itâs own grand moral debates, itâs fight against pervasiveness of less sanitary aspects of its cultures (invasive, native, a mix of both), itâs fight to preserve identity at all, as well as over what it is achieve modernity - the waiting world is reduced in the eyes of both the other realms to the middleman, a hotspot for smuggling and crime. and stories follow characters as they exist in the context of all of that, pulling at the threads of the world around them. a world, waiting for them to unravel it!
my main guys from this world are trick and hawkes from the [Kau Bakari] plotline and trust me. i can yap about them forever. it was so hard not to
Shifters - an alternate earth where, in 1967, these undefinable entities (basically representing major classes under chordata... categories scare me) called emissaries rolled up! they warned of a âstormâ of dead fragments of emissaries. they also offered people the ability to make pledges, adopting the traits of one specific animal species - as shapeshifters. but theyâve always existed, and offered shifting far more selectively before, long ago. why suddenly give more away? was that a reparation for the storm? why are they here? why show themselves now? and the storm? what does this mean?
itâs a world with multiple stories, some intersecting, most others not. my current babygirl storylines are
[Paper Kites] about a jet-setting CEO and her archeologist fiancĂ©, on their way to finding out big secrets about the emissaries. iâm very abnormal about them, i will actually pay you to listen to me talk about them. theyâre in aroace love by the way did i mention that.
[Pick-up Sticks] a look into the effects of that CEO and archeologistâs curiosity - oh-so-far-away, the little people hit by a corporate conspiracy, political upheaval and never-before seen shifter tensions
Trip2Temasek - itâs just a silly thing - framed like a classic TTRPG campaign! but with fun flavour. a Singaporean twist, to be exact. six silly pinnacles of Singaporean character tropes. a bird-having, plant-raising void deck uncle (the druid) + an overworked tiger mom (the barbarian) + a deviant 16-year-old ah lian (the rouge) + the perfect prefect from the top school just over (the wizard) + the over-eager community club lady (the cleric) and, of course, the community cat (the bard) - who all get flung into a thriving, ancient forest-city mirroring singapore, inhabited by spirits, young gods and beastly creatures.
i dance around a little with casual racism, materialism, individualism/collectivism, the price of progress and maybe a little bit of the guilt of being privileged. not-so-uniquely Singaporean experiences. if i post about it, itâll probably be cute moments between the characters or full-on breakdowns about my disconnection from my national identity! yippee!
Hysteria! Starforged - itâs a big mess of a sci-fi world about an inter-planetary war - with too many criss-crossing motivations. the point is no one is really sure whatâs happening, itâs just a lot of a lot. thereâs two big âsides,â but unfortunately no good guys. oneâs the legion. it absorbs, itâs one goal being uniformity in morality across the stars to prevent... warfare (irony!) - life is a lot more complicated than that though, so they wind up just making things worse - they (attempt) to install their law and cultures in every planet they absorb.
the other is called the council, an allegiance formed to oppose the domination of the legion. they suck too! in their desperation to get an upper hand and escape the reign of the legion, they exploit lesser-equipped planets and their own allies. they have enlisted entire planets without spacefaring ability into their intergalactic war, just to have numbers. almost none of the other planets have planetary governments so a lot of âtinierâ international wars happen. do you see where this is going. hysteria. hysteria starforged, even.
and my main trio are just a little gang. three girls against the world, (two soldiers pulled from one war to another and a dignitary from a country that no longer exists!) and god, thereâs a lot of World.
The Ending That Wasnât (to be renamed..) - another sci-if one, but i got silly with it. silly and goofy even. six idiots wake up on the brig of a half-destroyed ship floating around space, with absolutely NO memory AT ALL! space-styles, âiâm too dumb for rulesâ D&D - if it played by one lonely geek.
space ikea, quantum toasters, a robot t-rex that the sci-fi goblin is SWEARING to you is a house pet on another planet. my colourful cast of stupid idiots saved the world once - in fact, literally JUST BEFORE they woke up. they just donât remember it. they barely remember anything - and as they, through typical D&D party shenanigans, make petty criminals out of themselves, they realise that maybe they were pretty big deals, actually. matured, world-saving heroes that you are by the end of the campaign, even. starting from scratch is a little awkward.
theyâll figure it out, eventually.
Of Obsolete Orisons - post-apocalyptic, in a lovely, overgrown, âweâre rebuildingâ way. - avatars of natural forces walk the earth when they fancy, most worshipped as gods. wardens of equilibrium represented the pillars of balance until, well, they suddenly couldnât - and then the apocalypse came.
30 years afterwards, an avatar who thought itâd be fun to just be a guy separates themselves from divinity, gets into silly shenanigans as it discovers the world before it. the least interesting of my many, many lore worlds. i poke a little bit at the personification of the world around us in the form of divine consciousnesses, as well as perfection and pre-determinism, nothing fancy, iâm just amused and intrgued.
MORE TBA - eventually lawl ... here are projects iâve yet to describe but want to: AoWSLaA, Curiosity!, [Liar]bird, Cloudscape!, Science Fiction, The Great Divide and maaaybe Mayhem & Magic.
notably! thereâs also the tag boct thoughts, which will feature largely privated posts consisting of delirious rumination on this story-making hobby of mine. i am a wicked songstress howling lyrics in states of incomprehension and some of the time i sing for my ears alone!
#trip2temasek#of obsolete orisons#the waiting world#hysteria! starforged#shifters: paper kites#shifters: pick-up sticks#bocthoughts#the end (that wasnât)

89-year-old Whang-Od never married and dedicated her life to tattooing. She is the last Kalinga mambabatok or tattoo artist.
PERPETUALLY SHROUDED IN MIST, the Kalinga village of Buscalan sits high up in the Cordillera Mountains of northern Luzon, Philippines. Although all of the tattooed warriors are now gone, the village is teeming with tattooed elderly women that wear the artistry of the last Kalinga tattoo artist: 89-year-old Whang-Od who learned the art of batok (tattoo) from her father

KAIHOLA by technicallyswagpizza
"Sea and people have made the island what it is today. The island's epic landscapes are the stuff of poetry. Sand, wind, unspoiled archipelago and the beautiful bedrock, worn smooth by glacial ice. Glistening in the afternoon sun, yellow, red and white houses cling to rocky shores and fishing boats bob in the water. The verdant pine forests turn to charming leafy tunnels, framing every view. Time stops, people live a quiet life here."
Kaiho is a word that is a bit more difficult to translate as it has a certain type of melancholic nuance to it that nostalgia or longing for something doesn't cover exactly. Kaihola is my ode to Finland, an undefinable sadness that won't go away. The world is loosely based on two islands off the coast of Finland, Hailuoto and Ahvenanmaa, and my tiny hometown up north.
FEATURES
Medium sized map.
35 lots all in all spread across the island.
Unpopulated.
Includes a base camp enabling you to use Kaihola as a travel destination.
Spanking new distant terrain and matching terrain painting textures.
Wide variety of regular spawners, no World Advenures or ITF
Custom lighting mod included in the world file.
But wait, there is more! I have made two versions for you to choose from!
#1 Empty world // Requirements:
All expansion packs except ITF (No stuff packs!). Yikes! It's a lot for an empty world and boy don't I know it! I'm fairly sure I have used every other expansion except ITF for the landscaping. Some more than the others, however if you are missing an expansion pack, the trees and shrubs I have used will simply be replaced by something else.
CC used: Distant terrain, some of the flowers and trees made by me + Hidden Springs decorative barns + Aurora Skies birch tree are included in the download.
Map is completely empty, has a wide variety of spawners and is ready to be built by you.
Empty diving lot off the coast somewhere.
Two options for world installation, either through the launcher as a sims3pack OR bypass the launcher and drop the world package file in the designated folder.
Optional terrain painting textures made by me available for download if you wish to use them for landscaping your lots in game.

#2 Built and ready to move in! // Requirements:
All expansion packs except ITF (No stuff packs!)
CC used: Rabbit hole rugs by Jynx (Pet fixed), some EA store items, my distant terrain, flowers, trees, house shells and rabbit hole recolours. All included in the download.
If you donât have some of the expansion packs or donât want to install the EA store content provided, the items I have used will simply be replaced by something else from your own game. I cannot promise that nothing will break, but some bits might look a little bare or funky due to the replaced items!
All the lots are built and furnished, I have left 5 empty lots for you to build and fill yourself including an empty diving lot off the coast.
Recoloured and rescripted rabbit holes. That being said, Kaihola comes with basic rabbit hole careers you would get in a vanilla game.
Two options for world installation, either through the launcher as a sims3pack OR bypass the launcher and drop the world package file in the designated folder.
Optional terrain painting textures made by me available for download if you wish to use them for landscaping your lots in game.
The church deco has snow issues. To be fixed at some point in the future, maybe?
â©Â Download // Mirror â©
Almost there, just few more bits!
I have created a lighting mod for Kaihola and included it in the world file itself, I would recommend at least trying it out (by taking your own lighting mod out of Mods/Packages folder to see it in action)! If you like Kaiholaâs lighting and want to use it in other worlds or as a standalone mod, shoot me a message and Iâll make a package for you.
In the screenshots above I have maxed out settings and Reshade enabled, but my preset is very subtle and it only adds a soft blur effect and strengthens shadows a little bit. I don't edit my screenshots other than crop and resize them with photoshop, so basically what you see above is what you will get :>
I would strongly advise downloading Nraas Go Here and disabling boats. They will cause lag as townies have a habit of looping around with them endlessly. I'd also recommend disabling wild horses and stray pets as they tend to get stuck.
I built all the lots myself except for the following 3: A massive thank you to @silvakristiina for letting me use her de-CCd Ivars house as a base camp, I also edited a junkyard from doublemedion694âČs Cladbridge-on-Stowe and the boat is an edited version of this made by @fagersims.
If you post pictures, please let me know and tag them with #Kaihola or simply @ tag me. Iâd love to see any and all pictures!
Congratulations, you have reached the end credits!
Special thanks to @silvakristiina and @depistako for playtesting and giving me feedback about the feel of the world! âĄ
I know it has been like 2 years now, but thank you @hydrangeachainsaw for teaching me how to make distant terrain and for all the invaluable World Machine & Blender help! And a final thanks to @grandelama for sharing the beautiful road textures and allowing me to tweak them further! (  Ëá”Ë Â )âĄ.°
//Oopsie daisy fixes!
2.2.2022 - Fixed the blue lot/missing lots with fully build version. Redownload please!
17.2.2022 - Added missing bistro rabbithole .package file in the CC folder. You don't need to redownload everything, just drop this file in your mods folder if you downloaded the world on the first day of release http://www.simfileshare.net/download/2986213/

âa city of freedom that lies in the northeast of teyvat. from amongst mountains and wide-open plains, carefree breezes carry the scent of dandelions - a gift from the anemo god, barbatos - across cider lake to mondstadt, which sits on an island in the middle of the lake.â

âa bountiful harbor that lies in the east of teyvat. mountains stand tall and proud alongside the stone forest, that, together with the open plains and lively rivers, make up liyueâs bountiful landscape, which shows its unique beauty through each of the four seasons. just how many gifts from the geo god lie in wait amongst the rocks of liyueâs mountains?â

Quote
.
Pablo Neruda
Ode to the first day of the year
 We identify it
 as if
 it were
 a wooden horse
 different from
 all horses.
 We adorn
 its forehead
 with a ribbon,
 we hang
 on its neck colourful rattles,
 and at midnight
we get ready to receive it
 as if it were
an explorer descending from a star
 The way bread resembles
 yesterdayâs bread, a
 ring all rings:
 the days
 blink
 clearly, jingling, fleetingly,
and lie down in the dark night
 I see the last
 day
 of this
year on a train, toward the rains
 of a distant purple archipelago,
 and the man
 on the machine,
complicated like a clock from heaven,
 lowering his eyes
 to the infinite
 ruler of the rails,
 to the shining handles,
to the nimble bonds of fire
 Of conductor of trains
 accelerating
 toward the black
 stations of the night,
 this end§ of the year,
 without wife or children,
is it not the same for the one gone, the one coming?
 From the roads
 and workshops,
the first day, the first dawn
 of the starting year,
 has the same rusty
 colour as the iron train:
 and people along the way
 greet it,
 cows, villages,
the vapour of the first light of day,
 without knowing
 it is
 the yearâs door,
 a day
 heralded
 by bells,
 adorned with plumes and carnations.
 The earth
 does not
 know it:
 it will receive
 that golden
 day, gray, heavenly,
it will extend it over hills, it will wet it with
 arrows
 of translucent
 rain,
 and then
 it will curl it
 in a tube,
 will store it
 in the shadows.
 It is thus, but
 a small
 door of hope,
 new yearâs day,
 although you are
 like bread
 we will live you,
we will eat you, flower you,
 wait for you.
 We will place you
 like a cake
 in our lives,
 we will light you
 like candelabra.Â
New
 Yearâs
 Day,
 electric day, fresh, a
ll the leaves
 emerge green
 from the trunk of time
 Crown us
 with
water,
 with all the aromas
 deployed,
 yes,
 even though
 youâre
 only
 a day,
 a poor
 human day,
 your halo
 beats
 over so many
 tired
 hearts,
 and you are,
 oh new day,
 oh forthcoming cloud,
 bread unseen before
 permanent
 tower!

Located on the Old Salt House lot in San Mushyno, this beautiful cafe and co-working space is an ode to my collaboration with @sundays-sims! Natural, light and leafy - it is a perfect space to work on your next project while enjoying a cup of coffee (or two) on one of the 3(!) outdoor terraces! Like it more quiet? There are several private rooms for you to enjoy! Or want a more professional setting? No problems, personal working stations have you covered! And guess what, conference rooms are also included! :)
You will need to have Sundays part of the Archipelago set for this build to work - currently available for Early Access and will be released to public in 3 weeks.
P.S. I also have another build coming in the next few days which doesn't include any third party Early Access items - so you can enjoy it right away :)
